- 0:00Speaker 1: Here we are, guys, our last break of the day.
- 0:03Speaker 1: It's been a good day. We've had fun today. Well
- 0:08Speaker 1: that's remark too. That's gonna be my clothes remark because
- 0:12Speaker 1: I want to share with people the difference between fun
- 0:19Speaker 1: and joy. Okay, because there is a difference. And I
- 0:23Speaker 1: had to learn this me too. So here we go.
- 0:29Speaker 1: You know, as I was growing up, just like most
- 0:32Speaker 1: of us, we had a daily quest when we were young.
- 0:38Speaker 1: As children, we only had one mission in life. After school.
- 0:43Speaker 1: We wanted to go play on Saturdays and Sundays. I
- 0:49Speaker 1: want to go play. I could not wait to go outside.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I wanted to go out in the snow. That I
- 0:55Speaker 1: wanted to play because it was fun. Now, what I
- 1:01Speaker 1: didn't know was there should be a cutoff point for
- 1:04Speaker 1: having fun in your life. But oh no, not me.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I took it too far. I took fun to college.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Now I know everybody that went to college, whoa, we
- 1:15Speaker 1: had a blast. I had too much of a blast.
- 1:18Speaker 1: And then after college kept on trying to have fun.
- 1:23Speaker 1: There's a cutoff point to fun. And the thing I
- 1:27Speaker 1: learned about it was, see fun, you have to go
- 1:30Speaker 1: do something, or go somewhere or be around a certain people.
- 1:36Speaker 1: In order to have it. To go have fun, you
- 1:41Speaker 1: have to manufacture it. You have to buy a ticket,
- 1:46Speaker 1: you have to be at a certain place, you have
- 1:49Speaker 1: to drink a certain amount. You got to be around
- 1:51Speaker 1: the people that are smoking this. Now you can have
- 1:55Speaker 1: fun if you make it to this party right here,
- 1:57Speaker 1: we gonna have so much fun. And you keep looking
- 2:01Speaker 1: for fun, but if you think about fun, man, it's
- 2:04Speaker 1: always manufactured. It's something you gotta be doing, seen doing.
- 2:10Speaker 1: You gotta be somewhere or thought of somewhere. It's always
- 2:14Speaker 1: the case in having fun and fun is always short lived.
- 2:19Speaker 1: You know. Fun never lasts a long time. You never
- 2:24Speaker 1: hear anybody say, well, I just had fun, fun, fun, fun,
- 2:28Speaker 1: fun for fun don't last a long time. It's a
- 2:31Speaker 1: very fleeting thing. And I was teaching my sons about
- 2:34Speaker 1: fun one day because we were in Vegas and they
- 2:36Speaker 1: were going out and I told them, I said, be
- 2:38Speaker 1: careful out there, man, I'm going to the room. Dad,
- 2:41Speaker 1: y'all come on, man, we're gonna have some fun. I said,
- 2:43Speaker 1: listen to me. We've had a full night, went to
- 2:45Speaker 1: see the fight, everything was good, and now you're gonna
- 2:49Speaker 1: go out here, man, I'm gonna just tell you right now,
- 2:51Speaker 1: it's dangerous out there. Be careful. Oh dad, we're gonna
- 2:54Speaker 1: have some fun. I've discovered something about fun. If you stay,
- 2:59Speaker 1: if you keep having fun, there's a time limit to fun.
- 3:04Speaker 1: If you stay at the club till it closed, it
- 3:06Speaker 1: ain't finna be fun no more. If you drinking and
- 3:11Speaker 1: you fell a buzz, but you keep on drinking, it
- 3:14Speaker 1: ain't fit to be fun no more. If you at
- 3:19Speaker 1: a sporting event and everybody going out the parking lot,
- 3:22Speaker 1: but you y'all still try to have fun. State is
- 3:26Speaker 1: not finn to be fun no more? Because fun I
- 3:28Speaker 1: discovered I taught my children that night. Fun is an acronym.
- 3:33Speaker 1: F you in is an acronym, and I taught it
- 3:37Speaker 1: to him. I said, son, if you keep having fun
- 3:39Speaker 1: too long, it's effed up now. That's what fun stands for.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Too much fun and it's effed up now. Boy. They laughed,
- 3:49Speaker 1: They laughed. They went out that night in Vegas. The
- 3:52Speaker 1: next morning I saw them. They looked dishevel They're in
- 3:56Speaker 1: bad shape. Say what happened? Man, dad? We was at
- 3:59Speaker 1: the club. Man dude got shot and killed. Then the
- 4:03Speaker 1: police surround the building. We stayed in there man, we
- 4:05Speaker 1: ain't get home to five thirty. You know why, because
- 4:10Speaker 1: they was having fun and too much fun. It got
- 4:13Speaker 1: fed up. Now fu in, it's e ffed up now,
- 4:16Speaker 1: and that's what fun is. They said, Dad, what about you?
- 4:20Speaker 1: I said, I like to have joy and said, what's
- 4:22Speaker 1: the difference between joy and fun? I said, joy is
- 4:27Speaker 1: a feeling that I have on the inside that resides
- 4:29Speaker 1: in me most of the time, and when I'm with myself,
- 4:34Speaker 1: within myself or by myself. I found that I have
- 4:39Speaker 1: a residing peace in me that gives me a certain
- 4:43Speaker 1: joy that I enjoy being alone. I just enjoy just
- 4:47Speaker 1: being with my girl. That's joy to me. That I
- 4:50Speaker 1: can sit up and watch my grandchildren play. That I
- 4:54Speaker 1: can take my family on vacation and watch them enjoy theirself.
- 4:56Speaker 1: That puts a joy in me. That joy that I have,
- 5:01Speaker 1: it's not manufactured or superficial. The joy that I have,
- 5:05Speaker 1: that residing peace is because I have a relationship with God.
- 5:10Speaker 1: God has given me the peace that I have in
- 5:13Speaker 1: my life today. I wish I had discovered this years ago.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I could have saved myself a world of trouble, but
- 5:19Speaker 1: I didn't because I was like a lot of people,
- 5:22Speaker 1: I was pursuing fun, trying to have it as many
- 5:27Speaker 1: times as I could, going to have fun. If I
- 5:32Speaker 1: could have understood about this residing peace, that it's okay
- 5:37Speaker 1: to be with me, that I don't need a bunch
- 5:40Speaker 1: of outside stimulation to feel good anymore. That I can
- 5:44Speaker 1: sit back, close my eyes and be grateful and find joy.
- 5:49Speaker 1: That I can sit up and just watch TV and
- 5:51Speaker 1: be in perfect peace and joy. That I can walk
- 5:54Speaker 1: around and ride my bike or walk down to the
- 5:59Speaker 1: river and just have joy. I could put my headsets
- 6:03Speaker 1: on and listen to some music and just have joy.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Joy to me, is better than having fun. That's the difference, though,
- 6:13Speaker 1: between fun and joy. One is manufactured and one is
- 6:18Speaker 1: provided with an everlasting peace and relationship with God. If
- 6:22Speaker 1: I wish you, I look for some of that joy
- 6:24Speaker 1: you feel me. Those are my closing remarks today. I
- 6:28Speaker 1: hope you got something out of it. If not, don't
- 6:30Speaker 1: worry it. We'll be back tomorrow. God will it. Maybe
- 6:32Speaker 1: you'll like that one now, But in the meantime, y'all
- 6:35Speaker 1: see yourself a favor here. Talk to God. He loved
- 6:38Speaker 1: to hear from him.
