Latest / The Erica Show / Dr Lyle with Lyle Plastic Surgery Talking New Devices They Have
Transcript
- 0:00It's iHeartRadio Erica DeLong here with doctor Lyle with Lyle Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Center,
- 0:05and doctor Lyle comes on a regular basis giving us the scoop on how
- 0:08to remain useful, Which you have new devices that we need to hear about.
- 0:12Good to see you. Yeah, you know, as we've talked about
- 0:15in the past, I have a lot of devices in my office that are
- 0:19sort of non invasive, and I want to talk a little bit about some
- 0:23of the things that I use during surgery that are tools or instruments that help
- 0:29enhance results. So one of them is and these are not really new,
- 0:35so to speak, but they are. I'm starting to use them more.
- 0:39I'm learning more about them. One of them is a device called Renewvion,
- 0:44which is a basically a skin tightener, but it's an invasive skin tightener.
- 0:49It's not like these external treatments that you put on and you need a series
- 0:55of treatments to help tighten skin. But this is one you use as like
- 1:00an adjunct to surgery. So if you do liposuction or you do some other
- 1:04treatments that it's the only FDA clear device that actually induces radiofrequency energy Okay,
- 1:14you know that's heat. Basically, anything that's gonna shrink collagen, which is
- 1:19the target of skin tightening, uses radiofrequency energy and it delivers it in with
- 1:26helium gas. And I may have talked about this a while back, but
- 1:30now, how is this different from all therapy or soft wave which they're also
- 1:36heating up right, So those are external devices. They use ultrasonic energy.
- 1:42But a common denominator of these things is that energy is creates heat, and
- 1:48this is radiofrequency energy. But what it does is it delivers like a spark
- 1:53almost and you have to deliver it with a gas. So the gas that
- 1:59we use helium and helium will cool that spark down immediately so you don't burn
- 2:06the skin. So obviously you have to be very skilled to use this device
- 2:09and know what you're doing. You do, but you also the failsafe of
- 2:15this is that the device actually has this built in system to prevent you from
- 2:22burning patients. Like some of the devices I've had in the past, to
- 2:25deliver energy, you have to monitor the temperature of it so that you don't
- 2:30burn skin because what you're doing is you're trying to heat the collagen fibers that
- 2:36you've exposed through liposuction or other means. But this is inside the skin,
- 2:40not on the surface of the skin. So then so the gas goes into
- 2:46the tissue. So literally when you're doing it, your tissue kind of puffs
- 2:50up a little bit and you have to have a little tiny nick in the
- 2:53skin to let the air get out of the gas get out, and it
- 2:58will heat that cologen that it's exposed to up to eighty five degrees celsius,
- 3:02which is like that would burn your skin, but it cools it down immediately,
- 3:07so you don't even have to monitor the skin because it's not going to
- 3:09burn you unless you touch the thing to the skin. And that's where the
- 3:13skill and the safety is involved. And this is super important. So you're
- 3:16going in to get LiPo because you've got that bold or maybe your enter thighed,
- 3:22but you need that tightening to help keep things smooth because if not,
- 3:25it can still be dimply regardless of getting a lip or suction. Right,
- 3:29So, like for instance, liposuction, the best patients have tight skin and
- 3:34just that deposits well. You know, maybe in your twenties you have that,
- 3:38but as you get older and you have kids, you don't have that
- 3:42and you lose that, you know, you lose the elasticity. And so
- 3:46one example is, you know, liposuction. So I have a device called
- 3:52Vaser, which is an ultrasonic energy device that helps to shatter the fat and
- 3:57then you still have to suck suction it out that has some ability to tighten.
- 4:01As a matter of fact, I liked that device because it does tighten
- 4:04skin more than traditional liposuction. But Renewvion is like an add on, so
- 4:12you don't have to use it for everyone, but if you're really trying to
- 4:15tighten the skin up at the time of liposuction, there's some people are using
- 4:19it for even facial surgery. They now have a new smaller hand piece that
- 4:27you can make a little nick in the skin and tighten the skin around the
- 4:30face. So this is some some newer add ons to this device that I've
- 4:38had the device for about three years. But I just got back from Las
- 4:41Vegas where they had their what they call their users meetings, So it was
- 4:45only people that got invited were people that have the device, so they weren't
- 4:47trying to sell you it. They were just trying to kind of educate you.
- 4:53So I spent you know, a day, two days there, just
- 4:56learning new indications, new things, some very innovative people out there that are
- 5:02taking that same technology but now using it for other things. Now, do
- 5:06you see the results instantly or is it kind of like you have to wait
- 5:10for swelling to go down afterwards? You have to wait for you to wait.
- 5:14You have to wait. And so that's the that's the bottom. That's
- 5:16the nature of all devices like this. The only thing that truly you'll see
- 5:20an immediate result, and in most cases is like surgical procedures where you're cutting
- 5:27and pulling in your you know, removing extra skin, facelifting, breastlifting.
- 5:31But even that requires downtown for the swelling to go down. Yeah. Yeah,
- 5:35And so I always tell people, I mean, three months is sort
- 5:39of a target, you know, and things get better even at six months.
- 5:44But you know, we generally tell patients for almost anything we do,
- 5:47you know you're going to see your major improvement at about three months. Now,
- 5:51that doesn't mean you don't see some improvement or sometimes major improvement early.
- 5:57You know, things like an eye lid surgery, I mean eyelid surgery,
- 6:00you usually see it like within a couple of weeks. A tummy tuck and
- 6:06and some other things. You know, yes, you'll see an immediate difference,
- 6:09but it takes time for swelling and things like that. And it's the
- 6:13same with this device, the same the same kind of time. It takes
- 6:16time for the collagen to shrink. It's not I wish we had a shrink
- 6:20wrapping device that just you know, instantly, yeah, instantly, like you
- 6:24like put a vacuum around it and sucks it. And I mean we don't
- 6:28have that now. Questions about anti aging, so renev On, this is
- 6:31the new device. You've had it for three years, but it's becoming more
- 6:34and more popular. Are there other devices that are very beneficial for women and
- 6:40men that are trying to you know, stay as youthful as possible as long
- 6:43as they can. Yeah, yeah, I mean I have I have like
- 6:46what we call non invasive, So those are external heating devices, and one
- 6:49of them also uses radio frequency energy. I have a device called Sinosure's Temperature,
- 6:59which is a external heating It takes multiple treatments. It's not going to
- 7:04give you the same sort of dramatic results, but we're finding it's good for
- 7:09cellulite and you know, generalize loose skin. I think it's still the holy
- 7:15grail to find something that's going to be like a one time thing. You
- 7:19mentioned software for all therapy. Those are things that even you know when you
- 7:25do them, you're not no one's going to tell you that, Yeah,
- 7:28I look at yourself in a week and you look how good you look?
- 7:30It takes at least three months and some time I did software with you,
- 7:33and your tag was so knowledgeable, but she's like, you have to have
- 7:36patience. That's part of the process. You didn't get like this overnight.
- 7:40It takes some time to get it tightened back up right. And honestly,
- 7:44that's why whenever you're doing this, you really have to look at before and
- 7:46after pictures, and that's why it's so important. Whether it's one of those
- 7:51devices or botox or fillers. A lot of times you come in for one
- 7:58of these treatments and you you want to look good right away, but you
- 8:03don't look good right away, and like skincare regimens, you just are appeal
- 8:07or something like that. You might look good when it first comes off,
- 8:11you know, the peel, but you know it takes time for things to
- 8:16develop, and that's that's one of the things about aging. Is that it
- 8:20didn't. You didn't age in three months, You aged in many years.
- 8:24And to be able to turn back the clock in just you know, one
- 8:28week or two weeks, it's unrealistic. I haven't seeing a lot of stuff
- 8:33on TikTok, you know, it's like the doctor world of TikTok. How
- 8:35they're saying, well, first of all the fake botox claims where there was
- 8:39nine different states affected, and also that botox makes you look older. Do
- 8:43you agree or disagree with that? Well, I disagree with botos making you
- 8:48look older, and you know toxins in general. But I think if you
- 8:54I think what happens is after a while you you you age in the boat
- 9:00is going to hold back the the early signs of aging. But once you
- 9:05start getting there, I don't care how much botox you use, You're never
- 9:07going to hold back the hands of time. Right. And so then sometimes
- 9:11if you do botox when you've already started to get some established wrinkles, it
- 9:16becomes more noticeable. Like the more wrinkles and lines you have and then you're
- 9:22trying to defeat them with botox, the more noticeable. So when I see
- 9:26young people doing it, you know, they call it like baby botox.
- 9:31Baby. I mean, I've done it for women in their twenties and you're
- 9:35trying to just like knock down like the frown muscles. Well, those frown
- 9:39muscles aren't creating wrinkles at that age, but eventually they do. And then
- 9:46so I do think that as you get older, you're injector. This is
- 9:50why it's good to have someone that ages with you, has to learn your
- 9:56face. And so that's why I've always advocated. I used to do my
- 10:00own boatox for patients, so you get to know them and then you know,
- 10:03ten years later they're back and you're you're actually using maybe less or you're
- 10:07not doing the same areas. So that's why it's important to have a good
- 10:11injector that you can you know, you can go back and like, hey,
- 10:16you know you adjusted my dose and it didn't look that great, So
- 10:18can you can I come back in a couple of weeks and they'll give you
- 10:22a little touch up, you know, if you just go to like whoever's
- 10:26having a group on or I don't even know if the use that term anymore,
- 10:28but like you know, like a sale right for a unit, it's
- 10:33like it's not you have to. It's an art to that. And I'm
- 10:37getting off the subject a little bit, but I really feel strongly that having
- 10:41good people experience people really makes a difference in fillers and botox and of course
- 10:46devices, even the devices that I have, you know, you learn,
- 10:52even the newer ones. You know, you you keep learning about them.
- 10:56The doctors that started protocols on these devices five years ago. When I go
- 11:01to this meeting, the same doctors are giving talks saying, oh, well,
- 11:05now we've uped the energy or if we've done this, or we've changed
- 11:07You're constantly learning. It's the same in surgery, you know, we don't
- 11:11do the same facelift or the same breast reduction that we did or I did
- 11:18thirty years ago, necessarily. And then thermi Va is something that's becoming very
- 11:22popular, and I know you've been on the forefront of advocating for that,
- 11:26and I've been hearing it at many places. Now they have the devices for
- 11:31tightening. How popular has that become? That's very popular. Actually, this
- 11:35new device I have, Temperature has a it's a similar product. It's our
- 11:39device is called Vitalia, and that's a new one for me. But it's
- 11:43it's very much like thermi thermiva, and that's going to give you some internal
- 11:50tightening of the vaginal area as well as some external tightening. So those are
- 11:54things that are going to attack several areas of concern that women get as they
- 12:01get older, like when you sneeze, you dribble on yourself, things like
- 12:05that. Yeah, so things like that that's going to help tighten you know,
- 12:09the sort of the lining which is right up against the bladder and that
- 12:13sort of thing. Even interesting, we're talking about renewvion there. This is
- 12:18something that I've done a few times and it's encouraging. This skin tightening device,
- 12:22this reneuvion, you can actually make. They have a small hand piece.
- 12:26You can actually put it into labia majora and manora and tighten without like
- 12:33cutting skin. Okay, so even you know when people talk about labiaplasty and
- 12:39things like that where they want to get rid of excess skin of the labia,
- 12:43Well, the menora is the outer area and you generally don't have a
- 12:48lot to do for that, but this is something to help even tighten that.
- 12:50So that was another exciting thing, and I'm glad you asked about that
- 12:54because that was another exciting thing that I found that doctors are doing. I've
- 12:58done it a few but I kind of reinforced that you can do it and
- 13:03it will help to tighten areas that we never really had a great wave,
- 13:07right, And so you're a one stop shop. Is a very boutique style
- 13:11plastic surgery office. But you have the aesthetics side obviously, the plastic surgery
- 13:15side, that's you your board certified. Many people I know they're like,
- 13:18yes, doctor Lawala is great, clean work, does a great job.
- 13:22And so one stop shop, like you go for your esthetics and everything.
- 13:26Is there anything that you want to share to encourage people that, hey,
- 13:30come see me. This is why we're so you know, we're so great,
- 13:33which I know I'm a patient of yours as well. Well, you
- 13:35know, there are a lot of a lot of providers out there. I
- 13:39mean, you know, this is a little bit more of a boutique.
- 13:43Like you said, it's just a single doc. It's I don't have every
- 13:48device out there. I don't try to be that inclusive. We're a little
- 13:54bit smaller. But as you mentioned, it's really personalized, right, personalized
- 14:00treatments. I'm hoping that people that have come from for surgery, will will
- 14:05stay and end up having some of these other treatments. You try to treat
- 14:09you like family and and you know, come in and you can have all
- 14:13your other needs met at the same place. And it feels very private,
- 14:16which is nice because people don't want to shout out to the world like,
- 14:18hey, I'm going to see the plastic surgery. You know office, it's
- 14:22very private, it's a beautiful setting and you have a great team of experts
- 14:26that are surrounding you, so it makes it a really wonderful experience. Any
- 14:31advice for the ladies that are considering coming to get our guys too, because
- 14:37what's your ratio men to women? I probably do ninety women. I still
- 14:43do men. I do men lipe as suction, male breast reduction, occasionally,
- 14:48facial you know, facelifts and necklifts, eyelids, you know, do
- 14:54it all. But yeah, I would say it's still women. And you
- 14:58know, we talked. We started a while back talking about mommy makeover,
- 15:01and you know, that's probably the most common thing people come in for,
- 15:05but everything else is available there too, And you start thinking about this months
- 15:11if not years in advance. So what's the process when they come to see
- 15:13you. The consultation. Yeah, there's consultation. Most people have done some
- 15:18research that they come in and I spend time with them with my patient coordinator
- 15:22or my nurse, and we go over like a treatment plan, and you
- 15:26know, part of it. It's not just yes, they're surgically. You
- 15:28just want this done. We talk about that, but you know, this
- 15:31is the idea. You come in and you can talk about other things that
- 15:35bother you. You know, you're there for a breast reduction, but you
- 15:39you know, I also don't like my face, and so you know there
- 15:41are other options, not surgical necessarily that. It's just a good way to
- 15:46to kind of get in with someone, get to get a you know,
- 15:50to obviously develop a trust. And then and then I feel like we have
- 15:54other devices and treatments that hope you, you know, keep you young Lyleplasticsurgery
- 16:02dot Com. Anything we need to add today, that's good, Thank you
- 16:04so much. I like hearing about renoving on. This is new. I
- 16:07haven't heard about this one yet, so I'll have to come try it,
- 16:08all right, Very good
