• 2:29
Speaker 1: Well, and you know, they ought to be proud of you, actually in a different kind of way, but I will tell you that so long as the court lets you go there, yeah there's that, but I will tell you that I have covered many fires in my day, but the Houston fire department did.
• 2:45
Speaker 1: They are like surgeons and I.
• 2:51
Speaker 1: I know that you can relate to that.
• 2:55
Speaker 1: What I just said and I thought I hope that all the other firefighters do too because all their calendars.
• 3:00
Speaker 1: Well, no, no, that would be.
• 3:04
Speaker 1: David has their calendars.
• 3:08
Speaker 4: Not even gonna go there.
• 3:09
Speaker 1: Jackie, you know what?
• 3:10
Speaker 1: I think that you need to start a new calendar of former fire department, retired fire department employees and, and, and I can only imagine what it would turn out to be.
• 3:24
Speaker 1: There'd be some cars.
• 3:25
Speaker 1: He called the joke that you'd be some girls in there, but there would also be guys like you and like me in there.
• 3:30
  Speaker 1: Uh-huh with that.
• 3:33
Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, you tell about that.
• 3:36
Speaker 5: Right before I retired in 2012, we made a.
• 3:41
Speaker 1: We responded to pull that microphone up to him.
• 3:44
Speaker 5: We responded to an issue at a senior citizen living place.
• 3:48
Speaker 5: No, and we were walking down the hall leaving and some several distinguished ladies and I'll say this, I'm 70 and they were older than me.
• 3:59
Speaker 5: And so the lady says very, oh, fireman, you know, and was any of you guys in the calendar?
• 4:06
Speaker 5: And my captain says Jack was now.
• 4:10
Speaker 5: Do I look like a calendar person?
• 4:12
Speaker 5: Well, I take up to.
• 4:13
Speaker 5: I take up two months.
• 4:14
Speaker 5: I was gonna say three months, yeah, but she's the page for the bottom part.
• 4:27
Speaker 5: And she reached up and she paints me on the cheek, uh huh, which she kissed me on the other cheek, okay, and she smeared lipstick from my nose to my ear, uh huh.
• 4:39
Speaker 5: Well, our district chief showed up and he says what is on your face?
• 4:45
  Speaker 5: And I'm going.
• 4:46
Speaker 5: I didn't have a clue what he's talking about and I put my fingers up there and fight and fire, sir.
• 4:50
Speaker 5: And you know, there was this big old blob of red lipstick and I don't know how women get it off at night Carefully.
• 4:59
Speaker 3: They smeared all over you.
• 5:01
Speaker 5: Man yeah, well, that was generally Younger days, slow, slow.
• 5:06
Speaker 3: I had that smile.
• 5:08
Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh Control.
• 5:12
Speaker 5: We're all gonna be in trouble.
• 5:14
Speaker 5: But I had lipstick on my face, but the other problem is is where she keeps me.
• 5:18
Speaker 5: On the other cheek bruised it and I had a bruise about the size of a softball how did you?
• 5:23
Speaker 5: Explain that to your wife.
• 5:24
  Speaker 5: It wasn't easy.
• 5:26
Speaker 3: So you got a hickey and lipstick on your face.
• 5:29
Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'd only been married two years at the time, and he might have had glitter on him from the strip club too, but you were in a calendar for six months.
• 5:42
  Speaker 5: Man, this can't.
• 5:43
Speaker 5: Can't catch your break today.
• 5:45
Speaker 5: But I will say this about the Houston Fire Department the best guys that I ever worked with, dedicated to their position.
• 5:55
Speaker 5: You know, you gotta admit that these guys go to work every day.
• 5:59
Speaker 5: They go to work, they do what they do and the people that they respond.
• 6:04
Speaker 5: They don't even know who these people are.
• 6:05
Speaker 5: You know, when I first got in the fire department, my uncle told me he says he thought I was crazy.
• 6:12
Speaker 5: He said you're gonna run into a burning building, other people are running out and that crap don't belong to you.
• 6:17
  Speaker 5: And I thought that's true, there's something about that, but it's a, it's a.
• 6:24
Speaker 5: It's a profession that I'm very proud to say.
• 6:27
  Speaker 1: I am a firefighter.
• 6:28
Speaker 5: It is a calling I will.
• 6:29
Speaker 1: I will tell you that I fly over minimal fires.
• 6:34
Speaker 1: I find over fires that you're thinking I know big deal and somebody's dead inside.
• 6:40
Speaker 1: You don't know what you're gonna roll up to.
• 6:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, and I and I, whenever I'm on the air, I always say you know, we had several fires here recently, yeah, where the two alarm, three alarm was not so much the fire and I always explained to look, these guys have got bunker gear on you, put on one of those jackets.
• 7:00
Speaker 1: How much that jacket?
• 7:02
  Speaker 5: way.
• 7:02
Speaker 5: Well, I can't tell you the jacket itself, but I know that when I weighed one time with my gear on boots, pants, hundred pounds more.
• 7:10
Speaker 5: I had, I gained a hundred and eleven pounds.
• 7:12
Speaker 5: There you go with air pack mask.
• 7:14
Speaker 5: Yeah, I gained a hundred eleven pounds.
• 7:16
Speaker 5: You know, if it's a hundred and nine degrees outside the heat, inch 120.
• 7:20
Speaker 5: It kicks a young man's butt.
• 7:23
Speaker 1: Absolutely, and I always make sure that I always try to explain that in a way that everybody can relate to.
• 7:29
Speaker 1: Yeah, in the fact that you guys are going in there and 30 minutes.
• 7:33
Speaker 1: Imagine yourself going outside in the yard and you're gonna mow the grass in 108 degree temperatures and you've got to have your winter coat on along with another 50 pounds of stuff.
• 7:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, and you're gonna you think you're gonna last 30 minutes.
• 7:47
Speaker 1: It's not gonna last five minutes.
• 7:48
Speaker 3: It's not stuff, it's safety gear that you survive what you're going in, that's true.
• 7:52
Speaker 1: But but so they pull another alarm because they need to relieve those guys.
• 7:56
Speaker 1: And it's not necessarily about the equipment, sometimes it is rotating the fire.
• 8:01
Speaker 5: Well, yeah and the thing about firefighters is, you learn, is, and it's a motto that I even carry on, even though I've been retired ten years I don't quit when I'm tired, I quit when I'm finished.
• 8:13
Speaker 3: You know and that was gonna ask a question when you retire said ten years ago, so you didn't experience any of the EV fires or anything like that on the road.
• 8:21
Speaker 5: No, that was before your time.
• 8:22
Speaker 5: No, but I did make a Volkswagen one time.
• 8:25
Speaker 5: They scared the poo out of me when that magnesium got hit with the water.
• 8:28
Speaker 5: Oh, magnesium wheels, yeah, oh, yeah I was burning and it looked like rockets, red glare like oh, what did I get myself?
• 8:39
Speaker 1: So let's, let's change gears here.
• 8:41
  Speaker 1: Let's talk about Jackie's car.
• 8:44
Speaker 2: Talk about what he's doing or has been doing with that car.
• 8:48
Speaker 5: All right, the you know Well.
• 8:51
Speaker 5: First of all, let's talk it.
• 8:52
Speaker 5: What kind of car, is it?
• 8:53
  Speaker 5: I have a 66 Nova that I did a frame off restoration in 2016 and 2017.
• 8:59
Speaker 5: It's got an LS motor in with a 4L 60 a height front end under it with Mustang 2 rack and pinion steering and it wins awards throughout.
• 9:10
Speaker 1: It wins awards and then somebody ran into it.
• 9:12
Speaker 5: So yeah, somebody ran into it with me driving.
• 9:14
Speaker 5: I hit a deer two years ago and you guys witnessed it today.
• 9:18
Speaker 5: It was at loopy tortillas.
• 9:19
Speaker 5: The people who rebuilt it did a fantastic job.
• 9:23
Speaker 5: You can't even tell it.
• 9:24
Speaker 5: When we painted it originally in 2017, the paint job was 28,000 bucks.
• 9:31
Speaker 5: Who did the paint?
• 9:32
Speaker 5: Mac sweet rides in Magnolia, mark Ryan, we know we know our mark in my car.
• 9:39
Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely fantastic guy.
• 9:41
  Speaker 5: Yep, he's a perfectionist, he.
• 9:43
Speaker 5: He's honest with his price, he's honest with his work great guy.
• 9:47
Speaker 5: I love great guy you know, and so mark Magnolia is a fantastic you know market, sweet rides and Magnolia just a great guy.
• 9:56
Speaker 5: Yeah, we rebuilt it, had no problem with my insurance paper on what it needed to fix because they knew who mark was, and so it turned out very, very well and I'm pleased.
• 10:06
Speaker 5: And speaking of awards and why you say a travel everywhere, the first event I ever took this car to was in Louisville, kentucky, at the National Street Rod event 10,000 plus cars there and they divided up all those cars into quadrants.
• 10:23
Speaker 5: And so Texas, new Mexico, oklahoma, arkansas, louisiana is the south central District, and they picked one car out of that, all those cars that were from that area, and the Nova brought home the award.
• 10:38
  Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
• 10:39
Speaker 5: And I mean I was pumped because you guys know the riddler cars were there over a million.
• 10:44
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Yep, and I think several million.
• 10:46
Speaker 5: Yeah, sir, I said I will never win a real reward, but to me the award that I won, that that weekend at the NSRA my wife was there with me and To be part of it.
• 10:57
Speaker 5: I've got a wonderful wife, but she don't do car shows.
• 11:00
Speaker 5: Here we are, october coming up.

• 11:21
Speaker 1: And they get a personal appearance and sign an autograph.
• 11:23
Speaker 1: No, I could take your car to Chroma coffee tomorrow, if you like that's the problem.
• 11:27
Speaker 2: He's in it but you need, you need to go on and tell them what you've been doing with that car.
• 11:30
Speaker 5: Okay, what's well, you need to hurry up, because you got somebody right behind you.
• 11:35
Speaker 1: I want to get on the air and he's bigger than me.
• 11:37
Speaker 5: He is you know, and he's already paid us $30, but then I paid my 32.
• 11:40
Speaker 5: The city of Columbus, called the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, called me the first of this week Because they know, with my loan structure or association director ship Jack, we're filming a movie in Columbus.
