  Speaker 1: day along with you and to spend some time with

  Speaker 1: I hope you have come to love your time with

  Speaker 1: God each day.

  Speaker 1: It should be one of the best parts of your day.

  Speaker 1: I loved that time just sitting down with the Bible
• 0:28
  Speaker 1: open in front of me saying to God, Lord.
• 0:32
  Speaker 1: Guide me. Speak to me. What do you have to
• 0:36
  Speaker 1: say into my life today? And then to just begin
• 0:39
  Speaker 1: to read and allow God, the Holy Spirit, to use
• 0:45
  Speaker 1: the words I'm reading to challenge me, to change my thinking,
• 0:50
  Speaker 1: to direct me in my life. And so often I
• 0:53
  Speaker 1: have a real sense that this is God's message for
• 0:57
  Speaker 1: me today.
• 0:59
  Speaker 1: And that God is there speaking to me through His word.

  Speaker 1: And so I turn around and start speaking back to
• 1:06
  Speaker 1: Him and responding to what He's saying to me, and
• 1:10
  Speaker 1: it brings me to a place of real peace, knowing
• 1:14
  Speaker 1: God is involved in my life and He is the
• 1:17
  Speaker 1: one directing each day of my life. I hope you've
• 1:20
  Speaker 1: come to that place as well.
• 1:22
  Speaker 1: We're looking this week at the theme of answered prayer
• 1:27
  Speaker 1: and at these time after time in Jesus' farewell discourse,
• 1:33
  Speaker 1: his last great teaching session with the disciples.
• 1:36
  Speaker 1: The times that he keeps coming back to this theme
• 1:39
  Speaker 1: that whatever they ask in prayer he will do for
• 1:43
  Speaker 1: them and we come now to John 16 verses 23
• 1:51
  Speaker 1: and 24.

  Speaker 1: Where Jesus says, and in that day you will ask
• 1:57
  Speaker 1: me no question.
• 1:59
  Speaker 1: Truly, truly, I say to you.

  Speaker 1: If you shall ask the Father for anything, He will
• 2:06
  Speaker 1: give it to you in my name.

  Speaker 1: Until now
• 2:12
  Speaker 1: You have asked for nothing in my name. Ask, and
• 2:16
  Speaker 1: you will receive.
• 2:19
  Speaker 1: That your joy may be made full.

  Speaker 1: Ask and you will receive that your joy may be
• 2:28
  Speaker 1: made full.

  Speaker 1: You see what Jesus says. Until now you have asked
• 2:34
  Speaker 1: for nothing in my name.

  Speaker 1: The disciples hadn't known what that name meant nor what
• 2:41
  Speaker 1: it meant to ask in Jesus' name.

  Speaker 1: And they would come to understand those things, and Jesus says,
• 2:49
  Speaker 1: when you understand those things.

  Speaker 1: Come straight to the Father with it. You don't have
• 2:56
  Speaker 1: to come through Jesus. That's not what he means to
• 3:00
  Speaker 1: pray in His name. You don't have to go and
• 3:03
  Speaker 1: give Him your requests, and then He takes them to
• 3:05
  Speaker 1: the Father. You can take your requests straight to the Father.

  Speaker 1: The Father hears and responds to our prayers, and uh.
• 3:18
  Speaker 1: Could Jesus say this to you until now you have
• 3:21
  Speaker 1: asked for nothing in my name. Ask.
• 3:26
  Speaker 1: You see, the encouragement from Jesus to pray and to
• 3:30
  Speaker 1: make your requests. Ask, he says.

  Speaker 1: If you ask the Father for anything, he will give
• 3:36
  Speaker 1: it to you in my name.

  Speaker 1: What if you believed that
• 3:42
  Speaker 1: Do you think you might pray a little bit more?
• 3:45
  Speaker 1: You think you might ask God about more of the
• 3:50
  Speaker 1: everyday things in your life.
• 3:53
  Speaker 1: Ah, why don't you begin to do that and not
• 3:57
  Speaker 1: just to come and say abracadabra and think those things
• 4:01
  Speaker 1: are just going to pop into existence. No, come with
• 4:05
  Speaker 1: that sensitivity, Lord.
• 4:08
  Speaker 1: What do you want in my life and pray along
• 4:12
  Speaker 1: the lines of what God is saying into your heart.
• 4:16
