- 0:00Track Cast, the Galaxy's most unpredictable Star Trek podcast. Hello, Welcome to
- 0:23Trek Cast, the Galaxy's most unpredictable Star Trek podcast. It's so unpredictable.
- 0:29I didn't even give a thought to who was doing the intro until about a
- 0:32nano second before I hang out. So yeah, unpredictable. I'm I'm Dan.
- 0:38I'm one of your hosts. With me as always, Daniel, with
- 0:41me for now, with me for now is Scott for now for now?
- 0:49Very excited. How's everybody doing? Pretty great? Fantastic? Yeah, how's
- 0:56your week? Mine was great? Mine was great, really busy, lots
- 1:02of lots of home coming stuff. I've got a senior in high school and
- 1:07he was he was voted Spirit King, wowing. Plus he's in the marching
- 1:12band, so he is the spirit king. He does he say I am
- 1:19far from the bones with my grandfather. I will have to teach him that
- 1:23absolutely. Does he not know the ways? Apparently not not yet? Yeah,
- 1:29I have to get on. Oh cool. I was away for the
- 1:33whole week. Space Force had zero G combat training, so I was away
- 1:38from home for the whole week. Doesn't make me nauseous, does it?
- 1:42It does? Make me nauseous. It does, it does. So I
- 1:48got home Friday afternoon and I pretty much just laid on the couch since that's
- 1:56that's how exhausted I was. Just being on your feet constantly, you know,
- 2:00for the full day, and then when you're you know, when you're
- 2:02instructing, you're there an hour before and an hour after, and then you
- 2:07know it's it's training elsewhere. But then everybody wants let's go out afterwards,
- 2:13and and and throw a few back and yeah, so it was, it
- 2:16was. It was a long week. I'm glad to be home. Glad
- 2:19to be home. That being said, only watch the episode once, Okay,
- 2:23okay, I know that's becoming a reoccurring theme with me. Yeah,
- 2:27I know, I'm sorry. I watched it twice. In fact, I
- 2:29just got done watching in a second time. Really, I was taking some
- 2:32notes, all right, cool, can you pass me that? Can you
- 2:37pass me the notes? Yeah? Yeah, sure, underneath the desk,
- 2:39yeah exactly, exactly. Oh cool. How about you, Daniel, huh?
- 2:46How about you? Oh, just work stuff and uh, trying to
- 2:53think what else. I had a first date this weekend, so we'll see
- 2:54how that goes. Really really well, you know. You can't just drop
- 3:00a nugget like that. Okay, yeah, forget this whole episode stuff.
- 3:05I think we know what the next hour is going to be about. It
- 3:08was just the first date we went to. Okay, yeah, does she
- 3:13know that you? Does she know that you're a total nerd and have a
- 3:15Star Trek podcast. She doesn't a nerd, but she doesn't know about the
- 3:19podcast. Okay, that's a second that's a second date sort of thing.
- 3:23Yeah, you can't just you can't just drop kid, just drop that on
- 3:27the first date. Yeah, that's good. Hey cool. Hey. I
- 3:31also wanted to give a shout out because my mom's listening, So Hi mom,
- 3:37Well hey Scott's mom. Hey, we're dand go, We're dad go.
- 3:40Oh man, he just disappeared on it and zero G really kicked in
- 3:45apparently, Yeah, Daniel love cast don't know. Oh no, all right,
- 3:53well let's get to the news. I'm sure Dan will come back.
- 3:57Starts all right, So our first news story comes to us from trekmovie dot
- 4:03com and apparently time is running out. So what that they're talking about is
- 4:12time is running out for Star Trek legacy if it's going to actually happen.
- 4:17According to one of the Picard production designers. He says that basically, now
- 4:24that the writer's strike is over and it'slicking promising for the actor's strike, you
- 4:29know, basically, Hollywood's coming back to life, and you know, they
- 4:32haven't signed Star Trek Legacy yet, and Terry Matalis is going to be a
- 4:35busy boy pretty soon because if Star Trek doesn't snatch him up to do legacy,
- 4:42someone else is going to see what he did and how great it was,
- 4:45and they're gonna ask him to resurrect their franchises. So yeah, which
- 4:49is a very yeah, he's good. Yeah, it's very real possibility.
- 4:55So yeah, could be that Star Trek Legacy. It may not happen if
- 5:00they don't get on it soon, but nobody's you know, everybody's replaceable.
- 5:06Sure, no, we're not talking about you, Dan, that's right,
- 5:12he's getting it all together. But yeah, oh no, he can't hear
- 5:17us. I don't think they may try reconnecting. Dan, hear me,
- 5:21I can hear you? Okay, Yeah, I don't know. My my
- 5:26iPad crapt out. I don't know. I think I thought Scott thank me.
- 5:30He said hello to his mom and then I was gone, Yeah,
- 5:33if she was, if she was taking my place. But I'm I don't
- 5:42know what's going on my iPad. I'm on my phone. So if I
- 5:44sound a little bit far away, yeah you do, all right, it's
- 5:49okay. So yeah, So basically they're saying, if if they don't sign
- 5:56up Terry mattellas soon, that's it. Man legacy probably at least not without
- 6:02Terry mattallis wouldn't happens. Well, hopefully, starting like today, they've got
- 6:09executives, they're scrambling to get things done, you know, because of the
- 6:14you know, that's I'm probably stepping on your next news story. But you
- 6:17I was gonna say, you would think that that's that's the case, but
- 6:20right we don't know. So hopefully I know that they're planning big announcements for
- 6:26the New York City Comic Con, which is right around the corner. So
- 6:30as long as New York still isn't flooded. Yeah, yeah, that's another
- 6:34big news story. Yeah that's not Star Trek news, that's just regular news.
- 6:41But yeah, also so coming our next news story comes to us from
- 6:45Inverse and Picards. Season three could have had an alternate ending, So if
- 6:49you don't know Patrick Stewart is making the rounds. He's got a book tour
- 6:54coming around the corner, should be starting up pretty soon. And he's given
- 6:58a little bit of excerpts from his memoir Making It So, and he talks
- 7:01a little bit about Piccard Season three and how it almost had an alternate ending.
- 7:06Basically, it would have been that John Luke is back in his vineyard,
- 7:12his back is towards the viewers, and you hear a woman's voice say,
- 7:15Jean Luke, supper is ready. And then he goes on to say
- 7:19that would the voice be Beverly? Would it be Lauris? We don't really
- 7:24know. It isn't made clear. But his dog is with him, and
- 7:27he tells the dog, come on, boy, and they fade off and
- 7:30go to dinner, so eluding that it was what it's he won't say a
- 7:39loading that, you know, if it was Laris or if it was Beverly.
- 7:42No, I mean the end scene. I mean back in the vineyard
- 7:45and all that, like like it never happened, or it was a happily
- 7:48ever after or sounds like like a happily ever after for Pricard, Okay,
- 7:55like the Batman ending from the Batman rises, he's with his why girlfriend whatever,
- 8:01and that's the end of it. Okay, hopefully it wasn't going to
- 8:03be like the New Heart ending. Yeah, you never know, or turn
- 8:07off the hologram. Let's go, right, it happened, yeah, yeah,
- 8:13and then our last news story comes to us from Collider. I'm not
- 8:15gonna put it up because this website kinds of messes up my audio. Basically,
- 8:20the Star Trek four writer what is her name, Lindsay Anderson Beer basically
- 8:26says, yeah, we're still on track. I promise you everything's fine.
- 8:28It's it's all good here. Yeah. Yeah, that is as the kids
- 8:35say, cap, I believe, yeah, cap lies total cap. Yeah.
- 8:43So she says that they've been working hard on the project. That Lindsay
- 8:48has been working on the Pet Cemetery Bloodlines prequel movie, so she's been busy
- 8:54with that. But now that that's over, she can focus on Star Trek
- 8:58four and really get that going, and she's so excited for it. Ra
- 9:03Ra Ra also Star Trek leg Or A Star Trek Academy and Section thirty one
- 9:09are still in the works. So yeah, there we go. We'll see,
- 9:15we'll see. Yes, we've ter jaded fans. Yeah, back,
- 9:22we remember when the Tarantino was gonna have his book week, so so yeah,
- 9:28but yeah, that's all the news. All right. All right,
- 9:35well let's get to the main topic and review this episode, right, Finn
- 9:41will now connect. All right, So we had an interesting episode for Lower
- 9:52Decks Season four, Episode five, Empathetic Follies. This was an interesting episode
- 10:03to say the least. Basically, some beta zoids come on, some betasoid
- 10:09dignitaries come onto the streetos and immediately yeah yeah, a lot, a lot
- 10:16of swearing in this one, a lot of beeping. It's pretty fun.
- 10:20They got their whale tail drinks or whalebone drinks. Yeah, whale tails are
- 10:26a completely different thing. Yeah, oh boy. And then basically everyone goes
- 10:35nuts. And so the theory is that the beta zoids are admitting some sort
- 10:41of psychological thing, virus or just making everybody act crazy. Would you guys
- 10:50think I liked it? I actually did an F word count and I got
- 11:00eleven beeped out f words. One other words, we think it was a
- 11:07bs okay. But towards towards the end, they I don't even think they
- 11:11were trying to. They were just beeping out the U and and not beeping
- 11:16out anything else. I'll mean it was they were kind of I think in
- 11:18another couple of years, they're They're not even gonna bother to try to censor
- 11:22it. Probably not, although I do think that the beeps are funnier than
- 11:28the actual words. I do too, Yeah, yeah, yeah, uh.
- 11:35During the whole thing to Lynn is kind of upset feeling that she shouldn't
- 11:39be on the Spreetos. She feels like she should be able to go back
- 11:43to her Vulcan ship, and she's really really annoyed. So yeah, would
- 11:48you guys think about that storyline issue too? Yeah? I thought it was
- 11:58fun. I thought it was a lot of great callbacks. I feel like
- 12:05there weren't as many Easter eggs in this episode. It was just more of
- 12:07a wacky episode, right, just you know, a story for its own
- 12:13story. Yeah. I liked it. I liked it. I thought they
- 12:16worked in a couple of neat things. When they were doing the poetry,
- 12:18Slam, I caught something where he was talking about during the poem, he
- 12:24talked about Wharf the Warrior, and he says, no, the farm boy,
- 12:28and if you remember, Wharf grew up on a farming colony and I
- 12:35think it was called Gault. Foster parents raised him. It was a farming
- 12:39community. In fact, the two renegade cling Alert nerd alert. There you
- 12:48go, those three gun Yeah, those three clingons that I think it was
- 12:52a first season episode of The Next Narration. They came. They're the ones
- 12:56that came on board and created a phaser from parts of their belt and their
- 12:58boot and all that kind of stuff. And when Warf told him where he
- 13:01was from that he was raised on Gault, they said, Calts a farming
- 13:05community. So that was such a deep cut. Man. Hey, they're
- 13:13the ones that made it. I just called it out. Yeah yeah,
- 13:15yeah wow. But yeah, so it ends up that it's actually to Lynn
- 13:22is the one who is emitting some sort of psychological craziness that's making everybody act
- 13:28up, and she's actually vulcan as a motherfucker, as they say in the
- 13:33show. That's right, I don't have the beach here. Yo. It
- 13:39was hilarious. And then when she got her emotions in check, everyone else
- 13:45seemed to calm down. And yeah, I don't know, man, I
- 13:52thought this thing was hilarious. I think the Beta Zoid Trio was funny.
- 13:56I did suspect and I couldn't like figure it out anywhere. But I think
- 14:03that their dresses were supposed to match the hocus Pocus movie. Oh, I'll
- 14:09have to go back and look at that. Yeah. Yeah, like based
- 14:15on stuff that Troy's mother has worn over the years. Yeah, yeah,
- 14:20I think it was in that in the betozoid style, but like, I
- 14:24think the colors are from hocus Pocus. Well, we're getting in a view
- 14:26of Dan's neighborhood. Yeah, sorry, I had to check for dogs.
- 14:33It looked clear, so I think good. Yeah, I think we're good.
- 14:35No, I had to switch to the phone and the and the phone
- 14:39is running out of battery, so I had to plug it in and turn
- 14:43the way to do it. I know, I'm a mess. I thought
- 14:45maybe he was getting approached by Jehovah's witnesses again, Oh hopefully. Yeah.
- 14:54I feel like the more we see Vulcans, the least bulk and we see
- 15:00that they really are, yeah, stealing back to layers. Yeah, we're
- 15:05just peeling back to layers, and it's like you're not that different, you're
- 15:09just really, really really uptight. That's it. Yep, No, I
- 15:15agree. Originally we were believe that, you know, Vulcans don't have emotions.
- 15:20Vulcans are incapable of lying. Neither of those are our true statements,
- 15:26not at all. They have very intense emotions and they work very hard to
- 15:31suppress them. It's illogical to lie, so they don't do it except when
- 15:37it's logical, and then they do. Yeah, they can lie like a
- 15:39mother effort. Yes, yes, well there's that. There's somebody has taken
- 15:43the clip out of a book and it's Spock says Vulcans cannot lie, and
- 15:50then it says, quote he lied, Yeah, exactly, yeah, exactly,
- 15:58yeah. Yeah. The one thing I had one of the notes that
- 16:04I took was so I don't know where the ship was during this mission,
- 16:10but they had to go through the Neutral Zone in order to get to Beta's
- 16:15D. No, they were going to Beta's D or whatever, and then
- 16:21because the Beta Zoid trio took over, they were like, for whatever reason,
- 16:26we're going to go to the neutral zone. Oh see, I'm I
- 16:30thought that they were going from Angel One, which is a reference to the
- 16:33Next Generation episode Angel One the All the Women, the Women planet, the
- 16:37planet where all the women were in charge yeah, they were going from angel
- 16:41One to Riza and then when all the I thought that, when all the
- 16:48Beta zois took over, they said, screw it, We're gonna go straight
- 16:51back to Beta's d No. I think they were just saying we're they went
- 16:56crazy and they wanted to okay ze either way. You know, the neutral
- 17:00zone is you know, it's not a straight line, it's space. Space
- 17:11is three dimensions, right, you know this, this neutral zone is.
- 17:18I would love to see a three dimensional representation of it because there's probably no
- 17:23rhyme or reason to it. It's probably okay, this planet's on this side,
- 17:29this planet's on this side, and you know X distance from this planet
- 17:33is where the Neutral zone starts, and X distance from this planet is the
- 17:37neutral zone starts here. So in some places it's really wide, in some
- 17:41places it's pretty narrow, you know, and in three dimensions. In some
- 17:47places, you know, up here is the Neutral zone, but just below
- 17:49it's Federation space. But just below that you're in the Neutral zone again,
- 17:53right right. I've got the official map up according to Reddit, but still
- 18:00that's a two dimensional map. It's a two dimensional map. We'll see if
- 18:02we can get the Neil de grass Tyson on here to explain it to us.
- 18:04Yes, yeah, he'll be on the next week's episode. Yeah,
- 18:08okay, cool. Yeah. But speaking of the babies or the neutral zone,
- 18:12I loved the end of the episode where they had the Romulan ship just
- 18:17kind of lurking there, and and when the Torito's changed courts, we're like,
- 18:19oh they turned around, let's right, yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 18:30just lurk. Yeah. I like that. Everybody was just drinking in
- 18:34the bar, just going nuts. That one bird guy was going nuts with
- 18:38the oh he was just yeah, he was destroying that replicator. Yeah it's
- 18:44regurgitated soup. Yeah. Gross. And then all the security guys are like,
- 18:51we don't just secure physically, we secure emotionally and yeah yeah. But
- 18:57when it was time to take action, they reminded me of the those Special
- 19:03Forces guys on Enterprise. Yeah, Makos yeah yeah, yeah. They went
- 19:10into action. Yeah, they hoped to really quick. Ye and they and
- 19:15they were badass, man. They took everybody down real quick, right right,
- 19:21because they the beta Zoids were like there, they said they were Beta
- 19:26Zoid intelligence, so yeah, probably special Forces type yeah, yeah, undercover
- 19:30operator, remember that, because it was it was like the CIA, right,
- 19:33it was yeah, so yeah. Oh and then the other thing was
- 19:38the Cat Doctor. Apparently they used to eat beta zoids I know, yeah
- 19:44it was great. Now we only eat synthetic betas. Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 19:48She kept licking her lips and yeah, I just wanted to eat them
- 19:52so bad. Yeah. Oh I loved it. Learn more and more about
- 19:57about her culture, and she was all like, oh, those delicious beata
- 20:02zoids are yeep yep. That that cracked me up. And then also like
- 20:08sharks knew exactly what to do when she was just going bonkers. That was
- 20:14pretty funny. He's got that training, man. Oh he's he's well trained
- 20:18in that. He's multifaceted for sure. But we're we're about the halfway point
- 20:26of this season. I was just gonna half where we're at. Yeah,
- 20:29we're halfway, okay, So we've got about five more episodes left, so
- 20:34we're gonna find out. We're gonna find out anything with this mystery ship.
- 20:38I mean they've been teasing it for five straight episodes now. Today, this
- 20:44last episode, this episode, I would imagine, like you can't really do
- 20:48you know, call it like that and not start doing something with it soon
- 20:52I'm sure they've got a plan. Yeah, you know, obviously. I
- 20:56just hope they don't spend all season building up to a two part finale and
- 21:03we get nothing or even worse. Dan It could be they build up to
- 21:10something big and oh it's just a something lame. Yeah. Well, we've
- 21:15got five more episodes left, so that means one of them is going to
- 21:18be there. Weird doesn't do with anything episode, it's not even our main
- 21:23characters. So that's somewhere in there. Yep. Yeah. So do you
- 21:29think we're gonna get whether it's this season or next season, you think we're
- 21:33gonna get an episode called even Lower Decks? Yeah, where we're gonna we're
- 21:38gonna watch like four non commissioned officers. That's a really good I like,
- 21:45you know, the nis Cell crew or something. Yeah, that'd be great.
- 21:48I like that. Man, I don't know, because they're they're kind
- 21:53of graduating right there. They're a little bit their middle management. Now yeah,
- 22:00middle they're middle deckers. Yeah, they're middle deckers. So I don't
- 22:07a man, but yeah, I like the episode. I guess we'll see
- 22:11what happens. We don't have the Will Wheaton Show right now because I guess
- 22:14they didn't tape it in time before the strikes. So yeah, did we
- 22:19mention that, By the way, what about the strike, We talked a
- 22:23little bit about how they're Yeah, Star Trek four is supposed to be still
- 22:30on track, right, Yeah, And then I did mention in the news
- 22:34stories that the writers strike is over. I should probably pay attention. Yeah,
- 22:40And then that the actor's strike looks pretty promising to end soon. They've
- 22:45got a meeting tomorrow with the studio heads. And basically the writers and the
- 22:51actors both wanted about the same deal. So if the actors are the writers
- 22:55already got it, then it should be pretty easy to say, like,
- 22:57all right, we'll give you the same thing, go away. So it's
- 23:00looking like it could probably end yeah this week. Maybe that'd be good in
- 23:07theory. In theory, so that'd be good. Yeah, But it's we
- 23:14will feel the effects of this and that probably next year, just because they
- 23:18so many films didn't get made, or like Deadpool three stopped right in the
- 23:22middle of it, and it's not as easy. It's just like all right,
- 23:26everybody go back to work. It's you have to make sure everybody's got
- 23:30the time to do it. Their schedules are open back up. It's it's
- 23:33kind of a pain, right, It doesn't just start back up where where
- 23:36it left off, right right? Yeah? You so, yeah, there's
- 23:40big delays to television shows. All the TV shows that we're going to start
- 23:44basically this month this week, all delayed till next year. So yeah,
- 23:52you know everything. Yeah, so I mean Disco should still be on track
- 23:59for next year. That that sounds like it because it was so far advanced
- 24:03already, like it was almost done, thank goodness, because you know I
- 24:06was worried. I know you were. But then after that, like there's
- 24:14gonna be a long gap, yeah, because you know, it's not like
- 24:18Strange New World's started anything, you know, and well what Strange New World
- 24:22doesn't come back until did I hear twenty twenty five? Potentially? Yeah,
- 24:27because they have to write everything and then shoot it, and it's not like
- 24:33it's like we said, it's just not as easy to turn it back on,
- 24:36right, and it's not just writing it and then let's go. It's
- 24:38you gotta build the props, you gotta build the sets, those those VR
- 24:42walls, even though they're they're easier to do making those designs or takes in
- 24:49the in the program right right, So yeah, it's not as quick as
- 24:56people think. So, and then animation is similar, like it takes forever.
- 25:00Yeah, the lower decks will be they need to hurry up because this
- 25:04eventually, you know, potentially affects me because you know, depending on how
- 25:08long I'm going to be doing this show. You know, if there's not
- 25:11Star Trek on, then we're only doing this every other week, And what
- 25:15am I supposed to do with every other one of my Sundays? I've got
- 25:18some ideas? Yeah, but yeah, but yeah, so that that's basically
- 25:25the show. Do you guys catch Aska? Yes? I did? Is
- 25:32it me? Or does Admiral Stron look like Gris? What's his name?
- 25:40Of course I'm I'm drawn a blank. Now people won't call him smurf data
- 25:45the guy won't stuff. Oh, Elon Musk, Elon Musk. Does he
- 25:52look like Elon Musk blue makeup? Or is it just me? Well?
- 25:55He okay? So his brother is Mad's Michelson who was Hannibal Bomb who Yeah,
- 26:03he wasn't in Rogue one. He was the designer of the of the
- 26:07Death Star. That's ns Michelson. Okay, Yeah, so his brother there.
- 26:12Those two are actual brothers, and they both kind of already looked like
- 26:17Elon by by nature, you know. Yeah, so I don't think it
- 26:21was an intentional thing. They just happened to look that way. Okay,
- 26:25all right, Bronson Elon Smurf. Yeah, what do you guys think of
- 26:32Asoka? I'm liking it. It took a little bit to get going,
- 26:36but I like it. Yeah, I'm enjoying it. Yeah, But at
- 26:41the same time, it gets me upset because I know where it goes after
- 26:44this. Yeah, true, I know it goes to the Secret Trilogy,
- 26:48which I rewatched this week, okay, and any new insights. And I
- 26:55caught one thing that I never realized before. When Finn and Rose arrested in
- 27:00the casino, Yeah, the officers start reading them their rights, which I
- 27:07thought is it was odd that, you know, a long time ago,
- 27:10in a galaxy far far away, they're abiding by the nineteen sixty six Supreme
- 27:14Court of the United States decision Miranda Miranda versus Arizona. Right. But yeah,
- 27:22yeah, that is interesting. Right. I just read an article about
- 27:27their use of lightsabers now and how it's progressed from the original trilogy. The
- 27:33sequel trilogy even to the newer shows that some of the newer shows like Mandalorian,
- 27:41they would actually have functioning light up lightsabers that they would duel with,
- 27:47but the battery packs had to be up the sleeves of the actors. And
- 27:52now they've the battery technology is so good that they actually have lightsabers that they
- 27:57use on the set for their battles, for for filming their battles with the
- 28:03battery packs inside the hilt, so that that lets them light up a lightsaber
- 28:10tube that makes the lighting easier to for the you know, the effects guys
- 28:15to do. And so they're actually fighting with what looks like realistic lightsabers and
- 28:18they just add some you know, pizzazz in post. So I imagine it's
- 28:23not those like foes that they saw at Disneyland. Like they're even better than
- 28:26that, right exactly. Yeah, So because even as you know, like
- 28:32back in in the prequel trilogy, they were just using aluminum rods and when
- 28:38they were going back and forth, they were getting bent up, and then
- 28:41they went to fiberglass and then for like the Mandalorian they were using light up
- 28:45rods. So yeah, yeah, I guess we'll see I we got one
- 28:52more episode of Asoka one or two, something like two. I think we
- 28:57just had episodes six. Well maybe, yeah, I'm not sure. I
- 29:02don't have any They got reunited with Space Moses, so that's yeah. Yeah,
- 29:07as was back. Yeah, and he was like pushing everybody with the
- 29:10force, which is pretty fun. I actually like to see that we had.
- 29:15We've only really seen that one other time where a Jedi or a Jedi
- 29:18like person's fighting without his lightsaber, and it was Kylo Red. It was
- 29:22fighting off the guys in Skywalker. Yeah, one of them. Yeah,
- 29:29so yeah, no, I liked it. I don't even know which movie
- 29:33you're watching when you watch the sequel trilogy, any other Star Wars movie you
- 29:38could you could, you know, describe a situation and I could say,
- 29:44yeah, that was an Empire strikes strikes, right, could describe a situation
- 29:48with ray Fin, Paul, you know, Kylo Ren, all those people,
- 29:55like, yeah, I remember that happened. I don't remember what movie
- 29:59it was in. I don't remember the plot. Right. That's the reason
- 30:03why that is is because those movies had individually had some fantastic scenes in them,
- 30:10but the storyline was so screwed up. That you don't it wasn't cohesive.
- 30:12You don't care, you don't remember what I know that Jedi is the
- 30:17best one. So which one was that? That's the one where throws away
- 30:23the middle wood, Yeah, the middle one. And then and then they
- 30:27do force zoom colors. Yeah, yeah, the middle of one with the
- 30:33really angry at eight, that's right. And then and then Lucas drinking that
- 30:37milk straight up the straight up the creature. Oh yeah, he didn't.
- 30:45He didn't apply his mouth to the teeth that would be, that would be
- 30:48from the top. He did. He did pour a glass for himself.
- 30:51Well, he poured himself a glass, all right. Yeah, and then
- 30:53he and then he confronts Kylo Renda as a as a force ghost, kind
- 30:56of force projection. Like you said, it like a zoom call, Jedi
- 31:02zoom call. Barely you can say the galaxy over a zoom call. It's
- 31:07it's great. Absolutely yeah. I'm not even on stream yard right now.
- 31:11I'm just concentrating really hard. That's right, you're doing good. Thank you.
- 31:18I'm gonna die after this, but you know, I'm willing to make
- 31:22the sacrifice, that's right. The sacrifices for the show you wife's gonna walk
- 31:26in and the head who did she get her coffee today? Yes? She
- 31:30did? Okay, yes she did. I made I made her some fresh
- 31:33coffee. I'm drinking some fresh coffee out of my Star Trek original series MUG.
- 31:37We just got done watching uh get the Galileo and the Squire of Gathos.
- 31:48Yes it, Uh they're good. No, it's anytime you want to
- 31:53sing Dan anytime. Those two episodes were okay, I remember this. I
- 32:00had never seen the Squire of Gotha. I had never seen either one all
- 32:01the way through, but the Squire of Gothos specifically featured tree Lane, and
- 32:09he in the novel that I read, Q Squared, tree Lane is actually
- 32:16a Q or Q adjacent and so if you rewatch that episode with that in
- 32:23mind, it it's a lot more fun to watch. So and the Galileo
- 32:28seven, I don't know if the episode is called galile or Galileo seven,
- 32:30but that was pretty much you kind of knew where the episode was going.
- 32:37The Galileo crash lands, and it's Spock and McCoy and a couple other crew
- 32:42members, and all the crew members are upset at Spot because he's not you
- 32:45know, taking things emotionally like the death of a crewman, and Spock is
- 32:51perplexed because well, logic's going to solve everything, and of course at the
- 32:54end of the day, it's a little bit of both that helps him escape.
- 32:58So the episodes are getting better. They're they're not quite as misogynistic and
- 33:07racist. And I'm sure you guys know, but I saw the Sad Sad
- 33:14Thing last night and it kind of I'm still a little bit grappling with it.
- 33:17Dominic Masterio lost the North American title at No Mercy, So that's wrestling.
- 33:23You've never heard of Dominic dirty domand mommy, duh, come on,
- 33:30Dan, his real father's Eddie Guerrero. Probably you know, it's all these
- 33:36things. Anyways, you don't know that storyline Eddie Guerrero and the about the
- 33:40dad and the thing and the yeah yeah, they had a child custody battle
- 33:46in a ladder match. The papers were hung above the ring and that's how
- 33:50they that's how they decided to do what the father was. That's a real
- 33:54story. So it was like it was like that Stalone movie over the top
- 33:59where you are, that is a ww storyline. Who's the real dad?
- 34:06Him? Got it and grab the paper over the top. You went up
- 34:10grand and a new semi and your kid. There you go. Oh all
- 34:21right, well let's let's get just a listener feedback on that note. Hey,
- 34:34over the top, that's right. Oh yeah, they did it.
- 34:37Has anybody else ever seen that movie? Oh? Fucket, dude, I
- 34:43got so excited. I'm swearing then. Oh oh dirty d and mom,
- 34:51yeah, it's it's dirty dumb. Speaking of which, we got Chazz Bizz
- 34:54on the line since he logged in first. So there you got. What
- 34:59up this? Hello, I'm thinking over the top right now? You know
- 35:05you got and you got a Yeah, you gotta flip it. It's hard
- 35:15to do it. One you flipped it, You're good to go. Oh.
- 35:21Dan kind of looks, dude, Dan kind of looks to turn your
- 35:23head around. Dan, Oh, he looks like the bad guy. He
- 35:27looks like the bad guy. Yeah, oh yeah, wow. I remember
- 35:34when I kid, I remember being so disappointed when I saw the preview for
- 35:38that because I thought it was another Rocky movie. Oh yeah, I would
- 35:45have been a better Rocky five, like like Rocky's done on it. Look
- 35:52are you talking about this guy? Yeah? That's the guy you got you
- 36:00think, Dan, Dan, next time we do the show, I want
- 36:02you to show up in one of those armless us. What he looks like
- 36:07when he brings the dog back to that dog. I'm gonna I'm gonna go
- 36:14out there and I'm gonna say that when we go to trek Long Island,
- 36:17I will arm rustle anyone there and oh boys, anything of the episode and
- 36:28then they get to take your kid home with me. Come on, kid,
- 36:34I win drive it home in my new SEBBI. Thing is he doesn't
- 36:47know how to do the gears. He's just grinding them all. I'll see
- 36:52if my company will let me borrow one of the rigs. Perfect, Jesmine?
- 37:00Would you think of the episode that it was good? You know?
- 37:06You know the funniest part was the cat. Yeah, I saw your lips
- 37:12and it's I thought that was hilarious. And having the Balcans are the Vulcan
- 37:19and the betas voids with their craziness. It's like, how does the star
- 37:24Trek ship function with telepaths that can overthrow a whole ship just being in menopause
- 37:32and and whatever. Yeah, that's what it was. So what do you
- 37:42think they were drinking? Mm hmm it was a glowing green beverage. Yeah,
- 37:52it's like maybe it was a mixer. Yeah, yeah, no,
- 37:58that's blue. Yeah, well it wasn't a cor whatever they used to have
- 38:02the worker breach. Yeah, maybe it's that. Maybe then the one guy
- 38:08was a green drink pour breach. Yeah, then the one guy's in the
- 38:15bar. They kept on making out the whole time. You'd say them,
- 38:20oh yeah, they'd like scoot across the screen. Yeah, never get off
- 38:23each other though. It's kind of there's always that couple at a party.
- 38:29There's always over each other. Yeah, whether you want to see it or
- 38:32not, it's just and uh, the slam poetry I thought was good.
- 38:40So are you gonna do some slam poetry for us now? No? No,
- 38:45no, absolutely not boiler and then oh back tackled slam poetry. Actually,
- 38:59I am about two or three lines into uh ode to spot the deuce,
- 39:04So I figured, by Christmas, I'm gonna have that ready for you,
- 39:07Dan, that's something that's gonna happen. So I just realized I did
- 39:13the Picard maneuver. Dan, did you notice a shirt that I'm wearing today?
- 39:15Nice Dace from institute. Nice yep, that warning warning NERD Alert NERD
- 39:24Alert dace from Institute of Advanced Robotics. Okay, so are you the robot
- 39:32I work on them? Oh nice? I just got is that the hoodie
- 39:38wanted some companies sent us ever get who No, my dad gave me this
- 39:44one space nice? Nice and uh jazz biz what what? What? What's
- 39:50your has? Say? This check hast right there? Oh there you go.
- 39:54Yeah, he's on brand. Yeah like the rest of us. Right
- 39:59there. Yeah, got trick cast in this corner and trick cast in the
- 40:02bottom corner. So hey, at least he knows who Dirty Domond Mommy is.
- 40:07No, I just put Dirty Dan. You mentioned you hurt my feelings.
- 40:15I haven't watched wrestling since the Rock was on their rocket he was another
- 40:20two weeks ago. Yeah, but I mean like when they were hot regular
- 40:23Yeah. Okay, that used to be Monday Night Raw and all that hes
- 40:29watch Yeah, yeah, okay, and that was that was one thing I
- 40:32did, like my senior year of high school. We'd sit there and watch
- 40:36that and drink and have fun. There you go. My mom didn't know,
- 40:40and then smoke a little you know what, and yeah, and I
- 40:52was gonna say on a soca. Yeah, why doesn't her ship take any
- 41:00damage whatsoever. That's a good point. Oh, she was in a whale
- 41:05for a while. She was in a whale, and then her ship got
- 41:08shot down. Then she gets all the ship and she does like a backflip
- 41:13over and then yes, I was like, okay, yeah, the space
- 41:19defense scenes, the outside the ship's space defense scenes are a little bit far
- 41:24fetched. But you know, maybe it's because it was just a badass Jedi.
- 41:30Yeah, well, I just wanted ship to get a little scarred up,
- 41:34beat up. She's covered in plot armor, the ship she has covered
- 41:37him, Yes, very much. That's what it is. It's the strongest
- 41:42armor in all of it. Literature, way too much plot armor. Yeah,
- 41:46Mando did didn't have any such luck. No, he did not,
- 41:51because he went from a very large spacecraft to a Nubian fighter. Yeah,
- 41:58and I don't know how you sit across and fly across the galaxy in that
- 42:02little bit he Nubian fighter? Where do the big question? Where do you
- 42:07appe? Exactly? Where do you appee? Yeah, that is the question
- 42:10we asked people too in uh where does Porthos poop? Yeah? Oh that's
- 42:16right, where does he poop? Where does he been I'm pretty sure his
- 42:20armor has a best scar capeitter go. Yeah, I was gonna ask you,
- 42:25damn maybe you could ask Space for us, ask Space for us if
- 42:29they have any thoughts on that. Yeah, I do it right down the
- 42:31leg of my flight. Soup. There you go, there you go,
- 42:36all right, Jas, there's anything else you want to bring on? We
- 42:37got other people. It's you know, this seasons it's been all right.
- 42:42I'm just hoping to picks up a little bit, you know. Last two
- 42:45episodes been kind of Yeah, and it's not it's this season is not my
- 42:52favorite season so far. Yeah, like the other two were so much better.
- 42:57Boy, and I don't think that this season's again ound grade. I
- 43:00think it's that we're used to what they do. Yeah, so it's not
- 43:05the novelty is gone. Yeah, you know, and I just hope they
- 43:08can kick it back up the next few episodes. Yeah, because I really
- 43:13love Lower Decks. It's probably my favorite of the new shows besides the Card
- 43:19season three, because Card season threees was perfect. So yeah, it's pretty
- 43:22great. Yeah, I'm gonna go back and rewatch that. I know.
- 43:27I would love to rewatch it. I'm not gonna rewatch the first two,
- 43:30probably because I just get angry. Yeah, so it's kind of like like
- 43:36Dan's watching the Star Wars movies and you know the new sequels, they just
- 43:44you know what on the SOCA what it's leading to, because it's it's basically
- 43:49Luke given up and dounaways lightsaber and then disappearing and then every character dies in
- 43:54each episode. So I had a theory about that just really quick. My
- 44:00thought was what they could do to fix the sequel trilogy because the main villain
- 44:07in the sequel trilogy is not Emperor Palpatine. He hardly kills anybody. It's
- 44:12General Hucks. He murders like a trillion people when he fires that giant planet
- 44:22star destroyer weapon death Star Weapon. Okay, so Force users can see into
- 44:28the future, right right, Why don't we have a super strong Jedi or
- 44:32Jedi Force user Force user type person see into the future, see that and
- 44:38then change it. They could reckon the entire thing. They could fix it.
- 44:43They'll have the same characters. Yeah, they could do it. They
- 44:45could. They could have the same characters, only not have a trillion people
- 44:49die. Yeah, make a multiverse, bring ready back everybody. They won't
- 44:54do it. Yeah, they're cowards. Oh, they don't have the balls
- 44:59too. The new trilogy, the New Trilogy was so woke that they can't
- 45:08risk people thinking that they think it was a mistake. Yeah, I don't
- 45:15think that's what it is. I think they spent billions of dollars in Disneyland
- 45:19and Disney World and setting up their star trick lands to match the New trilogy.
- 45:24That to then just say, hey, you know, wiping this away,
- 45:29that's a huge investment. They could still do the same characters. They
- 45:32could still have Ray and Finn and Poe and all those other people. I
- 45:38know, Like I actually liked the new characters. Like when First I Can
- 45:43started, I really liked that movie, Like that was an awesome movie because
- 45:47they built it up, and then the sequel comes then it just kind of
- 45:53on that movie. I was like, I don't know if I love this
- 45:54movie or I'm just very angry right now. What I'm waiting for. I
- 46:00promise you, on a long enough timeline, if it's five years, if
- 46:02it's fifty years from now, at some point, they're going to reboot the
- 46:07original trilogy and just redo them. Yeah. May it may not be in
- 46:13our lifetimes, but it'll happen. Yeah, yeah, but yeah in our
- 46:19life, I mean would they allow it. That'd be like rebooting back to
- 46:22the future. I mean, don't do that too keep what time do you
- 46:27think they'll uh recast? Look, Skywalker and these new series eventually this timeline,
- 46:37I think they need a recast and have bring in Layah and bring in
- 46:40Luke and actually face thrown because really, if you read like Air to the
- 46:45Empire and that whole series, it's like you kind of want to see that
- 46:51happen. Well, he's right now. They had Luke in Mandalorian. Yeah,
- 46:55it's not, but I mean they're great new character. Yeah, just
- 47:01just bringing Bucky and bringing Leah's daughter and had them then you know, cast
- 47:07them as as Luke and Leia. You know, the solo guy. He
- 47:12didn't do too bad, so fine. Yeah, the story on that was
- 47:15a little well, how they named Tom solo was ridiculous on there. But
- 47:21besides that, I really kind of liked the movie. It was it was
- 47:22different. It was very right on that. So you're by yourself, so
- 47:30solo, Yeah, it's like, oh, come on, I like that.
- 47:35I thought that was I thought that was pretty cool. The way he
- 47:38got paid. Oh really, yeah, I disagree is Lando, So I
- 47:45don't really care. As long as I get more Lando, I'm good.
- 47:47Yeah. Lando was great on there. I love you know. Donald Glover
- 47:51did a perfect job as Land. Oh he did? Agree? Yeah,
- 47:52absolutely, And and nobody gives that movie you love but it is. Actually
- 47:58I think it's a fun movie. Yeah, it's a fun movie because it's
- 48:01not. It's just kind of a one off. It's a story. Yeah,
- 48:05it's not. They're gonna say the Galaxy. It's more like a heist
- 48:08type thing. All right, Well, thanks Jasmins for being on. We've
- 48:15got uh, we got hipster Spock waiting, so let's bring him on as
- 48:19well. Poor guy who's been waiting for quite a while. Thank you for
- 48:22your patience. Everybody. What's going on? Hey there? Can you guys
- 48:28hear me? I like that you got your hat backwards? Are you gonna
- 48:30go fight for a kid now? Or what's going on? Yeah? I
- 48:37just I just put it on because this thing like that. I like that.
- 48:44Yeah, I put it on. It's it's a Red Sox app but
- 48:47p and Okay, anyway, I was just wondering, like I imagine you
- 48:57were talking about the lightsabers, right, so imagine you came home and see
- 49:01your kids fighting with the four hundred dollars Disney lightsaber. Yeah. If I
- 49:09saw my kid fighting with the four hundred dollar Disney lightsaber, I would probably
- 49:13grab the other four hundred dollars Disney lightsaber and duel with them. Yeah,
- 49:20it's just an excuse to get more later. Oh, we broke these,
- 49:22we need more. H Oh, it's time to go back to Disneyland.
- 49:28Yeah, exactly, yep, yeah, for sure. Remind me over at
- 49:34the top is the Stallone arm Wrestling movie? Right? Yep? Correct,
- 49:38child Disney arm Wrestling all as it should be. Mm hmm. And uh,
- 49:45you were talking about some guy named Misstereo. The last time I heard
- 49:49that name was Ray miss Stereo back in the day. Dom Is his son
- 49:54is legitimate son? Really? Okay, I've been out out of that luke.
- 50:00Which one of them flought Spider Man? It would be Ray Spider Man.
- 50:05He's dressed up like actual Mysteria before. Okay. Yeah, I mean
- 50:13hearing that name just brings me back to those days when I was like I
- 50:16was watching like the Rock beating up a Triple Agents stuff and all that.
- 50:23Yeah, that was like what mid nineties or something. Go grab your mountain
- 50:29dew and relive the good times. Yeah, and you guys were talking about
- 50:35reboot and like a while ago, like during this past week, I was
- 50:39seeing something about The Last Starfighter. Remember that movie? Oh yeah, yeah,
- 50:45yeah, And so I put that on some of the trek things because
- 50:52I saw a review about that or some video essay about that, and I'm
- 50:57like, well, yeah, that was an awesome movie if I can what
- 51:00eighty four or something, and and and then I start seeing people writing at
- 51:07the comments like oh, maybe that could use a reboot, and I'm like,
- 51:12hell, now, well they every few years it's like, oh,
- 51:15we're gonna do a sequel to it finally, and then nothing happens. So
- 51:21well that that's one of those movies that where I think, just leave it
- 51:25alone. It was great as a one off. Yeah, it's a good
- 51:30time capsule movie like that premise like planing in Arcade and everything that doesn't happen
- 51:35anymore really, so it's good for that time error. I mean, they
- 51:39could do it. They could do it differently. They could have a mobile
- 51:44game or something. It's a mobile game. It's an Xbox Live game that
- 51:50you know, the Aliens put it on the server. It's a free download.
- 51:52Kids start downloading it, they start playing it, not realizing they're auditioning
- 51:57for a role in the you know, Space Armada or whatever. I mean,
- 52:00they could up, they could update the story. I've never seen the
- 52:05movie. What okay, Well we have put that on your Yeah, I
- 52:14will watch it post taste. Yeah, it's fantastic. All right, Hold
- 52:17on a minute, Hold on a minute, Enemy Mine? Have you seen
- 52:21that one? Okay? Enemy Mine? The short answer is probably I.
- 52:30When I was growing up, my aunt had HBO and she would record movies
- 52:34for me. I'm talking back in the early to mid eighties. Enemy Mine
- 52:38was a tape that had you know, the six hour tapes had three movies
- 52:43each, and I would watch them as a kid. Enemy Mine was one
- 52:46of them. I remember bits and pieces of it, and I think the
- 52:52same thing with the movie we were just talking about. So I might have
- 52:54seen it back way back in the day, but I'll have to I'll rewatch
- 53:00both of them. Yet I'm on it. I realize I have responsibilities here,
- 53:06so right, you know, so it does everybody else? Dude?
- 53:10Yeah, I got you, yea, And yeah, So back to the
- 53:19episode, right, Like I'm just thinking it's in that kind of racist took
- 53:22cues beata's a sport, those throwing around those telepathic signals when there was the
- 53:29Vulcan. It's one hundred percent racist. You're absolutely right, it is.
- 53:35It's not Yeah, you're not wrong. Yeah, so come up, I
- 53:39can't believe they did that. And another thing, yeah exactly, man,
- 53:45what the hell? And like, I hope they don't pull a disco on
- 53:50that white ship stuff. Oh and like become friends with it. No,
- 53:55not that, but you know, like, uh what remember this Goo used
- 54:00to like put this mystery mystery box well season arts and it ended up being
- 54:07nothing. Yeah, and or being some bullshit stuff. I hope they don't
- 54:12do that. Oh, it's gonna be the ship of the Bugs, Dan,
- 54:16Yes, your bugs. Don't get me started on the bug what the
- 54:25bug guys indies or something? No, the ones that took over Starfleet back
- 54:30in season one of Next Gen. Yeah, conspiracy things. Yeah, yeah,
- 54:39my big theory for what was that? Pocard season three yep, pareamount
- 54:45heard your cries? Well they did see the thing in Pacard season three,
- 54:50Like originally it was going to be the bugs and then they decided to go
- 54:53with the changelains instead. Yeah, we'll see yeah. Yeah. And my
- 55:00last thing is that, well, I think that all this stuff about AI,
- 55:07it's totally overblown. AI isn't really that good because you know, it's
- 55:13like every everything that you you make is a mash up of what you've saw,
- 55:21what you've seen before, right, and so AI pretty much does it
- 55:25and it just a parlor chick because it's able to communicate with you, like,
- 55:31you know, like it's some sort of human but you know, it's
- 55:38if you really think about it, it just taking the most logical thing.
- 55:44It's basically a Bulkan good yeah, and so you know, and it's there's
- 55:52no emotions and stuff. So it's like, is it really okay? It's
- 55:59very clever, but I don't think it's all that. And the media is
- 56:02making it out to be all that investors and all that stuff, and I'm
- 56:06like, I mean, I've I've asked that several times to come up with
- 56:10some uh star trek you know, episode idea, and ninety percent like all
- 56:17a bit pretty much sound like each other. Yeah, but that that's the
- 56:22issue right right now, it's not that great creatively, but it could be
- 56:29in a few generations. It's heading in a certain direction. Yeah, and
- 56:31so you need to have the rules in place now because if you wait too
- 56:36much. True. Yeah, I agree with everyone out. So that's why
- 56:39there's the freak out. So yeah, yeah, you compare to you compared
- 56:45AI. You said it's basically a vulcan, right, but a vulcan is
- 56:51just a romulan with self discipline, right, that's the direction it's heading.
- 56:57Yeah, they're pretty dangerously. Yeah, it's not great now or it's not
- 57:02showing you know, emotion now, but it'll get there. Yeah. Oh,
- 57:07look at how far it's come just in the last I mean, AI
- 57:09has been out, like the kind of AI we're talking about, like the
- 57:12chat GBT and things like that, and hey, make an episode of whatever
- 57:15for me that's only been out for a year. See. And this is
- 57:20why every time I use chat GBT, I say please and thank you,
- 57:22because when the robots with Alexa, yeah, when the robots take over,
- 57:28I want them to like, ah, he was all right. In fact,
- 57:30whenever I ask Alexa to do something and then she does it, and
- 57:35then you can see the circle, that little circle ring continue to and then
- 57:37I'll say thank you and she'll be like, hey, no problem, like
- 57:42I'm I'm just waiting for you to acknowledge me or say thank you or be
- 57:45polite's checking out, like that's really being got the list. They's just checking
- 57:53names off. I mean, that's that's the that's true with everything, right,
- 57:59they just want to yea, I appreciate it exactly, all right,
- 58:07guys, thanks, thanks for yeah, but all right, now that we're
- 58:15all polite to ai. Right, So we did ask people where does Porthos
- 58:21poop? Basically the the overwhelming answer was wherever he wants, and then the
- 58:27second yeah, and then the other answer was out the airlock. There were
- 58:32a few people who thought that maybe the the pooh would get just teleported out
- 58:39out in the space. So whatever, fun question, I guess, yeah,
- 58:45absolutely, all right, anything else you guys want to bring up,
- 58:52Oh, that's all right. Any other feedback, No, that's it for
- 58:55now. But yeah, so we'll be back next we go the next episode,
- 59:00and yeah, all right, sending that feedback email trek as tng at
- 59:07gmail dot com about what's a good way to send in audio just video video
- 59:15notes. Send me a video note MP three, keep it under two minutes
- 59:19so that way I can animate you and uh and it'll be fun for the
- 59:22show. I found the easiest way to do that is to, uh,
- 59:25you know, do a voice record. You know, there's a voice recorder
- 59:28on everybody's cell phone. Use the voice recorder and attach that that file to
- 59:31a to an email exactly exactly. All right, Well, thanks everybody for
- 59:38listening, and we'll catch you next week. All right, bye, mom.
