  Speaker 1: October 30th. First, how long have you guys been together?

  Speaker 2: We formed in 2014, uh, that it originally was just
• 0:33
  Speaker 2: a duo and, uh, now it's a five piece country
• 0:38
  Speaker 2: band here. So we've been at it pretty hard for
• 0:41
  Speaker 2: the better part of 12 years now.

  Speaker 1: Well, you're doing something right. I see whiskey rich playing
• 0:46
  Speaker 1: all over the place. How far and why do you
• 0:48
  Speaker 1: guys travel to perform music?

  Speaker 2: Yeah, we're pretty, uh, we're based out of Sioux Falls.

  Speaker 2: So I live here. We're pretty regional. Um, but we

  Speaker 2: will do anywhere in South Dakota and then Northwest Iowa, um, that,

  Speaker 2: you know, that North, uh, Eastern part of Nebraska and

  Speaker 2: then Southwest Minnesota. So kind of this four state hub

  Speaker 2: here is our main territory.

  Speaker 1: Well, and you had mentioned that it started as a
• 1:14
  Speaker 1: duo and the band has grown while also the fan
• 1:16
  Speaker 1: base has grown. You guys have a ton of fans. Uh,

  Speaker 1: people absolutely love the band whiskey rich.

  Speaker 3: Yes, it is grown. Uh, over the years. Yeah, we
• 1:26
  Speaker 3: have a lot of loyal followers.

  Speaker 2: Even when I play the solo shows on these bar patios,

  Speaker 2: I see the same 20, 30 people. Every single show,
• 1:37
  Speaker 2: they are loyal and they show up. And it's really
• 1:39
  Speaker 2: nice to have great support right here in Sioux Falls.

  Speaker 2: And even we're starting to see Good pockets in Iowa
• 1:46
  Speaker 2: and Minnesota and all over, people that are enjoying country music.

  Speaker 1: October 30th would be an awesome time to get out

  Speaker 1: and see Whiskey Rich as they perform at the South

  Speaker 1: Dakota Military Heritage Alliance. There's also a costume contest that night,

  Speaker 1: the band gets started. Chris, have you guys performed at

  Speaker 2: Yes, we have opened a few shows for some bigger

  Speaker 2: acts there.

  Speaker 3: Um, I, I think it was 2022.

  Speaker 2: We opened up for Tracy bird there, which was unbelievable.

  Speaker 2: I love Tracy bird, obviously. And then just this last

  Speaker 2: March of 2026, we opened up for Blackhawk, which was
• 2:28
  Speaker 2: also amazing. I just can't believe how good those guys
• 2:32
  Speaker 2: are at their age. Just killing it. They sounded phenomenal.

  Speaker 1: Speaking of the band Blackhawk, I had a chance to
• 2:39
  Speaker 1: visit with them back in the 1990s. I worked in
• 2:42
  Speaker 1: country radio at the time. And one of the things
• 2:44
  Speaker 1: that I thought was pretty cool is the name Blackhawk
• 2:47
  Speaker 1: was not the original name of that band. Do you
• 2:49
  Speaker 1: know their original name?
• 2:50
  Speaker 3: I have no idea.
• 2:51
  Speaker 1: And I kind of wonder if they would have been
• 2:53
  Speaker 1: as big as Mustwang. That was the original name.
• 2:59
  Speaker 3: That can't be as good as Blackhawk.

  Speaker 1: The story was told to me by Henry, I believe
• 3:03
  Speaker 1: is his name, the lead singer, maybe, of Blackhawk. And
• 3:05
  Speaker 1: he said they weren't quite sold on Mustang and they
• 3:07
  Speaker 1: were sitting in traffic on their way to sign the
• 3:09
  Speaker 1: record deal. And there was a truck that said Blackhawk
• 3:12
  Speaker 1: Printing that pulled up next to him. So if they
• 3:14
  Speaker 1: hadn't been in traffic, maybe they'd have been Mustang. But
• 3:16
  Speaker 1: I think Blackhawk worked out pretty darn good for the band.
• 3:20
  Speaker 2: Yes, it worked out pretty well for them. I don't
• 3:22
  Speaker 2: think they have any regrets, I'm sure.

  Speaker 1: So now I get to ask you about your name,
• 3:26
  Speaker 1: Whiskey Rich. Where did that come from?
• 3:28
  Speaker 3: Yeah, good question.
• 3:31
  Speaker 2: You know, I think it was, you know, I said
• 3:34
  Speaker 2: this started as a duo. It was the other gentleman
• 3:37
  Speaker 2: that started this band with me that came up with
• 3:39
  Speaker 2: that name. And I'm not really, I.
• 3:42
  Speaker 3: Don't think he.
• 3:43
  Speaker 2: Ever really had a real rhyme or reason as to
• 3:48
  Speaker 2: how he came up with that. It just popped in
• 3:50
  Speaker 2: his head and we were like, oh, yeah, that sounds
• 3:52
  Speaker 2: pretty good. And we just stuck with it.

  Speaker 1: It is pretty good. I like it a lot. Again,
• 3:56
  Speaker 1: Whiskey Rich is the band that is going to be
• 3:58
  Speaker 1: performing at the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance on October 30th.

  Speaker 1: It is a costume contest that night as well. You

  Speaker 1: guys are going to get to see some people dressed
• 4:06
  Speaker 1: in really fun outfits. There's also, leading up to the

  Speaker 1: costume contest and leading up to the band, going to

  Speaker 1: have some Halloween music playing and some spooky trivia, Halloween trivia.

  Speaker 1: I'm actually working on getting that stuff all ready to
• 4:19
  Speaker 1: go right now It's going to be a darn good night. Again,

  Speaker 1: it's Friday, October the 30th, and I'm super excited for
• 4:26
  Speaker 1: that costume contest. That's going to be awesome.

  Speaker 3: Yes, I'll be. The band is going to be dressed up.

  Speaker 3: We'll have costumes.

  Speaker 2: Also, with your $ 25 ticket, there is an appetizer food spread,

  Speaker 2: and you also get a ticket for one of the
• 4:40
  Speaker 2: signature Halloween cocktails. They're making a menu of spooky drinks,

  Speaker 2: they're calling them. I think there could be some dry

  Speaker 2: ice coming out of them. So a lot of fun

  Speaker 2: cocktails that they'll have. So you get a cocktail and

  Speaker 2: a food spread and some country music and a costume contest.

  Speaker 2: And all the while, you'll be supporting all of the

  Speaker 2: services that they do.

  Speaker 3: With veterans and current military.

  Speaker 1: to go, but I don't want to drink, that's cool.

  Speaker 1: You can have fun without drinking too. And I love

  Speaker 1: the fact that they thought of that with the mocktail version.

  Speaker 1: So there's no booze in that style of drink.

  Speaker 2: Yep. If you don't want to wear a costume, you

  Speaker 2: don't have to. If you don't want to drink, you
