- 0:00Speaker 1: You have special music, so we know what we're doing here.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Yes, it helps everyone. Oh, I know what that music means.
- 0:07Speaker 3: It's time to talk to Elena Wood Nightingale College High.
- 0:12Speaker 4: Hello. Hello, I definitely need my intro.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Music spring into wellness?
- 0:19Speaker 4: Yes, what good topics this week?
- 0:23Speaker 3: Okay, so what do you how do we spring into wellness? Yeah?
- 0:28Speaker 4: So these are all just different activities that can kind
- 0:31Speaker 4: of help us get into the seasonal nude. And the
- 0:34Speaker 4: first recommendation is to land some outdoor activities.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Oh okay, like frisbee and wait yea, walking the door again.
- 0:49Speaker 4: And gardening and just anything that you can do to
- 0:52Speaker 4: be outside. Of course, remember to protect for the weather.
- 0:55Speaker 4: So where your sunscreen or your rain jacket, whatever's required on.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Okay, I have a question because I always have this
- 1:03Speaker 1: wrestle with myself thing about sun protection because I know
- 1:08Speaker 1: I need the vitamin D. I know that's good, yes,
- 1:11Speaker 1: but you're supposed to put sunscreen on. Is there a
- 1:14Speaker 1: good balance to be had there?
- 1:17Speaker 4: Oh, this one is really tricky, and you know there's
- 1:21Speaker 4: You're going to hear a lot of arguments honestly on
- 1:23Speaker 4: both extremes, and I generally land somewhere in the middle
- 1:29Speaker 4: where you know, I will give myself a little bit
- 1:31Speaker 4: of sun exposure with less sun protection, and then I'll
- 1:37Speaker 4: get my hat or my sunscreen or whatever on. So
- 1:41Speaker 4: for me, I don't burn, so I have a little
- 1:44Speaker 4: bit more leeway. But generally fifteen minutes is kind of
- 1:50Speaker 4: like a safe Okay, depending on how sunny it is
- 1:53Speaker 4: and your skin.
- 1:55Speaker 3: I've got the solution. Slather yourself up with all the
- 1:58Speaker 3: sunscreen you want and drink a lot of milk. It
- 2:05Speaker 3: has vitamin D.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Eat it does, it does.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's not a seasonal food. So we're gonna
- 2:13Speaker 1: move on to seasonal food.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Okay, yes, seasonal food, So eating your local produce, fruits, vegetables.
- 2:22Speaker 4: You can check out your local market generally doing the spring.
- 2:25Speaker 4: There's things like leafy greens and strawberries, maybe some fresh citrus.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Just try and get lots of colors on your plate.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I forbid you to eat an apple until September.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Yeah, you're not wrong, but.
- 2:44Speaker 2: No apples until September. Late August. I had some peanut
- 2:48Speaker 2: butter waiting for it. I'm sorry. Oh no, you're gonna
- 2:52Speaker 2: have to put it off. Put that peanut butter on.
- 2:54Speaker 4: It, eat it with kale or something. All right, what's next, Oh,
- 3:00Speaker 4: next is do some spring cleaning. And it doesn't mean
- 3:06Speaker 4: that you have to deep clean your entire house, but
- 3:09Speaker 4: just choose one small area that you can, you know,
- 3:12Speaker 4: maybe dust a little bit more, or get rid of
- 3:16Speaker 4: some clutter, donate some things that you're not using. Cleaning
- 3:20Speaker 4: up our space can help us to reduce stress and
- 3:23Speaker 4: improve our mood. And so I personally don't feel like
- 3:26Speaker 4: it's very fun, but I also recognize that there's benefit
- 3:30Speaker 4: to it.
- 3:30Speaker 3: There was a big thing up on campus or University
- 3:35Speaker 3: of Utah. Uh huh this way where you take all
- 3:38Speaker 3: your old electronics.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Oh yeah, and oh yeah.
- 3:42Speaker 3: That was I think it was last week. I know
- 3:44Speaker 3: my wife took a bunch of stuff up there.
- 3:47Speaker 4: What's next, Yeah, next is to set some new goals
- 3:52Speaker 4: or reevaluate your new Year's resolutions. Spring is actually a
- 3:56Speaker 4: really great time to kind of get that energy going
- 4:01Speaker 4: back up again. Since everything is blooming and it's a
- 4:05Speaker 4: time of renewal. A lot of times we do have
- 4:07Speaker 4: a little bit more energy for setting new goals as
- 4:11Speaker 4: well as going out and getting those goals.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, I could do that. I'm gonna go help
- 4:16Speaker 3: the fish in the Jordan River swim that's yeah.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Did you hear that story this morning?
- 4:25Speaker 4: I saw a headline that's Yeah.
- 4:27Speaker 2: That's really sad, isn't it.
- 4:30Speaker 4: I know it's it's very troubling. I'm a little nervous
- 4:33Speaker 4: about our water.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Yeah. What do we have next?
- 4:37Speaker 4: Next is to find ways to connect with your community.
- 4:41Speaker 4: A lot of times folks are outside more so you
- 4:44Speaker 4: might see your neighbor mowing their lawn or setting up
- 4:48Speaker 4: a barbecue something like that. So take some time, wave
- 4:51Speaker 4: over the fence, set up a play date for the kids,
- 4:55Speaker 4: just do something to connect a little bit more with
- 4:57Speaker 4: the people who live near you.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Yell at the for using a leaf blower. I hate.
- 5:05Speaker 4: I mean trying to be friendly for you know, if
- 5:08Speaker 4: you've got ongoing conflicts.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Yell at any ship.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I'm sorry, my neighbors all hate me.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Maybe if you connected with your community, Bill.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yeah, actually I'm very close. I'm very close to my
- 5:28Speaker 3: next door neighbor.
- 5:29Speaker 4: M that's good.
- 5:30Speaker 2: We get along great.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Uh so uh anything else that we need to spring into,
- 5:36Speaker 3: you know, that is.
- 5:37Speaker 4: My wholest for today. The recommendation is to just you know,
- 5:41Speaker 4: keep moving forward and take some small steps to help
- 5:44Speaker 4: improve your wellness journey.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, it's we're all troubled.
- 5:49Speaker 3: I think about the climate and about the drowse and
- 5:52Speaker 3: climate change and it, but you still can. You should
- 5:57Speaker 3: take them a little time and appreciate the fact that,
- 6:00Speaker 3: like yesterday was just.
- 6:01Speaker 2: A beautiful day.
- 6:02Speaker 3: It was, yeah, and so just to try and put
- 6:05Speaker 3: that other stuff aside a little bit and relax, because
- 6:08Speaker 3: there's plenty of times the wall, the doom.
- 6:10Speaker 4: And gloom all of the time, for sure, and enjoying
- 6:14Speaker 4: nature doesn't mean that we forget about the important stuff, right, That's.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Right, all right? Well, Elena, thanks a lot. If people
- 6:21Speaker 2: want more information, what do they do?
- 6:23Speaker 4: You can learn more about this as well as Nightingale's
- 6:26Speaker 4: amazing programs by visiting Nightingale dot edu.

- 6:34Speaker 2: She's so nice.
