- Lucas: Velkommen til episode 166 of Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Today we're learning a verb that gets us moving. Lucas: Å løpe — to run. It's a regular verb, so the pattern is nice and simple. Luna: Å løpe. Let me try: å løpe. Lucas: Perfect. In present tense: jeg løper — I run. Luna: Jeg løper. I run. That's easy. Lucas: And if you want to ask someone: Løper du? Do you run? Luna: Løper du? So that's 'do you run?'. Lucas: Exactly. Let's hear it again: Løper du? Luna: Løper du? Yeah, I think I've got that. Lucas: Good. Now let's add a third person: Han løper — he runs. Hun løper — she runs. Luna: Han løper. Hun løper. So it's the same form for all? Jeg løper, du løper, han løper? Lucas: Yes, exactly. No change for different subjects. That's why regular verbs are great. Luna: That's so much easier than some other languages. Okay, let me practice: Jeg løper hver dag. Lucas: Oh, you run every day? That's impressive. Luna: Well, in my imagination. But I'm trying. Lucas: Løper du fort or sakte? Fast or slow? Luna: Løpe fort — to run fast. Løpe sakte — to run slowly. Let me try: Jeg løper sakte. Lucas: That's fine. Running slowly is still running. Let's put it together in a little scene. Imagine you're at a bus stop and the bus is leaving. You say: Jeg løper! Luna: Jeg løper! I run! That's perfect for catching the bus. Lucas: If you're telling someone else: Løp! — Run! That's imperative. Luna: Løp! Short and direct. And if you want to say you run with a friend: Jeg løper med en venn. Luna: Jeg løper med en venn. I run with a friend. That's useful. Lucas: Let's do a quick review. The infinitive: å løpe. Luna: Å løpe. Lucas: Jeg løper. Luna: Jeg løper. Lucas: Løper du? Luna: Løper du? Lucas: Han løper, hun løper. Luna: Han løper, hun løper. Lucas: Løpe fort, løpe sakte. Luna: Løpe fort, løpe sakte. Lucas: And one more: Løp! — Run! Luna: Løp! That's fun to say. Lucas: Now you can talk about running in Norwegian. Practice using it today. Maybe say 'jeg løper' when you're walking fast. Luna: I will. Takk for i dag, Lucas. Lucas: Takk for i dag, Luna. And to all our listeners, keep practicing, and we'll see you next time.
