Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: In a world of rules in great areas, One radio
- 0:07Speaker 1: show dares to ask the hard questions, is it legal
- 0:11Speaker 1: to have a pet monkey?
- 0:15Speaker 2: So apparently it's actually possible to own a monkey in
- 0:20Speaker 2: North Dakota. And yes, I said monkey, I'm not talking
- 0:22Speaker 2: about your cousin named Chad. All right, this is a
- 0:26Speaker 2: real banana eating, tree swinging primate.
- 0:30Speaker 3: But here there is a catch. All right, you need.
- 0:32Speaker 2: What's called a non traditional live stock license, because North
- 0:38Speaker 2: Dakota is like, sure, you can have a monkey, but
- 0:40Speaker 2: it better have better paperwork than you need for your car.
- 0:44Speaker 2: So it is possible under North Dakota law to legally
- 0:48Speaker 2: own a primate if you meet all of these criteria.
- 0:51Speaker 2: You have at the appropriate non traditional livestock license, comply
- 0:56Speaker 2: with import, housing, health and safety rules, and following any
- 1:00Speaker 2: permit requirements. But it's not legal by default, and many
- 1:06Speaker 2: are restrictions and oversight may apply. But you could do
- 1:10Speaker 2: it all right, if you've got the right set up,
- 1:13Speaker 2: a secure cage, and a love for chaos. Congratulations, you
- 1:18Speaker 2: too can officially go bananas. Would you ever be interested
- 1:22Speaker 2: in having a pet monkey? Angie like a little a
- 1:25Speaker 2: boo from a Laddin one of Oh oh my gosh,
- 1:27Speaker 2: how cute, but only in theory. I think we should
- 1:29Speaker 2: all stick to adopting pets from Homeward Animal Shelter. Oh
- 1:36Speaker 2: my gosh, that song is a banger Wait by Maroon five.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I feel like sometimes underrated. I love that song so hard.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I think it's the most underrated song that we play.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I think so every time we hear that song. Angie
- 1:49Speaker 2: and I are dancing in the studio and for some
- 1:51Speaker 2: reason we both just ended up on our feet seeking
- 1:54Speaker 2: our bodies. This morning at six twelve on a Thursday,
- 1:58Speaker 2: my fitbit.
- 1:59Speaker 4: Says that I'm in fatburn mode right now.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Hey, that's a little victory right there.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Practice gratitude every single morning on Big ninety eight point seven,
- 2:09Speaker 2: and we're gonna continue that today with some little victories.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Don't forget if you ever have a little victory, we
- 2:14Speaker 2: love hearing them. I think it's cool hearing about the
- 2:16Speaker 2: fact that when you went out and mowed your grass,
- 2:19Speaker 2: all of the lines were dead straight and it looked
- 2:22Speaker 2: like a dang baseball field in your backyard.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Okay, that's a little victory right there.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Gave my little victory is that I gave my kid. Well,
- 2:33Speaker 1: Mikey and I me and my boyfriend gave Aiden, my
- 2:36Speaker 1: fifteen year old son, he's now fifteen, the best birthday
- 2:41Speaker 1: present ever. So it was his golden birthday yesterday and
- 2:46Speaker 1: we got him a bicycle, and he had been riding
- 2:50Speaker 1: Mikey's bicycle around the neighborhood and we were like, if
- 2:53Speaker 1: you want to ride the bike to school, like, go
- 2:55Speaker 1: for it.
- 2:55Speaker 4: But I think he was feeling a way that like, well,
- 2:58Speaker 4: it's not my bike, what if I miss it up?
- 2:59Speaker 2: Whatever that happens to yeh, yeah, yeah, happen to a
- 3:02Speaker 2: bike at a school, that's true.
- 3:03Speaker 1: So when he got in from school yesterday, he walked
- 3:08Speaker 1: upstairs and right there in the living room we had
- 3:10Speaker 1: a brand new bike for him, and he was so excited.
- 3:14Speaker 1: I'm going to post the video on Big ninet eighty
- 3:16Speaker 1: seven's Big ninety eight point seven's Facebook page because he
- 3:19Speaker 1: just had the sweetest, most wholesome reaction and he absolutely
- 3:24Speaker 1: loves his new bike. So I'm the best parent in
- 3:28Speaker 1: all the.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Last that's right, at least yesterday for a while, That's right.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Oh, But also I mean I wanted to share this
- 3:34Speaker 1: with you, Gabe, because now he's part of the bike community, right,
- 3:40Speaker 1: you know.
- 3:40Speaker 2: We're always accepting members into the bike community because there's
- 3:44Speaker 2: like three members.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Yeah, me, Mikey and now your son A Yes.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Now, I'm sure there's other members of bike communities, that's right,
- 3:52Speaker 2: but the bike community, the bike we're always taking membersh
- 3:57Speaker 2: my little victory. You know what was kind of interesting
- 3:59Speaker 2: yesterday I spent some time at Gate City Bank.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Okay, okay, they.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Don't They have really good chocolate chip cookies.
- 4:06Speaker 3: I can't even they are so good. It's there.
- 4:11Speaker 2: They have told me before, because I've kind of gotten
- 4:13Speaker 2: familiar with the individuals at Gate City Bank over and
- 4:15Speaker 2: Moorhead right by, like the taco bell is how I
- 4:18Speaker 2: always describe it, and they have told me like, oh, yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 2: after work, if you want to pop on in and
- 4:23Speaker 2: just grab some and continue on your Marry day, you can.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I'm like, I can stop in here for cookies, but don't.
- 4:29Speaker 2: I can't me with a good time, all right. And
- 4:32Speaker 2: it was kind of cool. I was sitting there. I
- 4:33Speaker 2: was talking to Austin, who I've gotten to know and
- 4:35Speaker 2: do a bunch of kind of work with over there,
- 4:38Speaker 2: and Amber, who was also in the building yesterday, and
- 4:41Speaker 2: it was so crazy just talking to them and realizing, Man,
- 4:45Speaker 2: in two weeks, I will have been here for one year,
- 4:47Speaker 2: and so oh wow. It's kind of it's just so
- 4:51Speaker 2: interesting when you stop and think about, like, oh, man,
- 4:54Speaker 2: when I go to some of these things or do
- 4:56Speaker 2: some of the work we do with you know, Big
- 4:58Speaker 2: ninety eight point seven, it's like, oh wow, like I
- 5:00Speaker 2: know some of these people. When you first show up
- 5:02Speaker 2: or you first get here, whatever, you don't know anybody. Yeah,
- 5:05Speaker 2: you're just hoping it goes well. So interesting to walk
- 5:09Speaker 2: in to a building that I've done quite a bit
- 5:11Speaker 2: of work with at this point, and you know, you
- 5:13Speaker 2: know the teller's name, and then you know the person
- 5:16Speaker 2: who's doing the loans and then whatever whatever.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Everybody you know.
- 5:22Speaker 3: So it was just kind of.
- 5:23Speaker 2: A little bit of an eye opening moment to sit
- 5:26Speaker 2: and talk to Austin as almost like a buddy, as
- 5:29Speaker 2: opposed to like, oh, we're doing this radio job together,
- 5:32Speaker 2: like let's try to make it sound good. It was
- 5:34Speaker 2: cool just to sort of shoot the breeze with him,
- 5:36Speaker 2: is how I'll put it.
- 5:37Speaker 4: I love that.
- 5:38Speaker 1: And by the way, in a couple of weeks, I
- 5:40Speaker 1: need the exact date that will be the one year,
- 5:43Speaker 1: because we're going to celebrate.
- 5:44Speaker 4: I will celebrate you, Gabe.
- 5:45Speaker 3: In this studio. No, I appreciate that. I will look
- 5:47Speaker 3: it up for you.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Okay, I'm almost positive it's November first, but i will
- 5:51Speaker 2: double check.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Okay, I need to know what social media content as
- 6:00Speaker 1: you in a choke hold right now? Seven on one
- 6:03Speaker 1: two eight on one nine eight seven. I'm talking about
- 6:05Speaker 1: when you're about to go to bed and instead of
- 6:07Speaker 1: putting the phone down, you decide to start scrolling Facebook
- 6:11Speaker 1: or Instagram or TikTok or snapchat.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Whatever social media platform you use.
- 6:15Speaker 1: What content are you just devouring going down that rabbit hole.
- 6:20Speaker 1: For a long time, for me, it was carpet cleaning videos,
- 6:25Speaker 1: then it was hydraulic press videos. But now I have
- 6:30Speaker 1: found this account on Instagram.
- 6:33Speaker 4: It's called shay Food.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I might be pronouncing her name wrong, but if you
- 6:37Speaker 1: search Shaii e double underscore food, it will come up.
- 6:44Speaker 1: And it's this woman who watches videos of dishes that
- 6:48Speaker 1: people bring to the potluck, and then she judges them
- 6:51Speaker 1: and sentences them.
- 6:53Speaker 4: And it is everything.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Here's a clip.
- 6:54Speaker 5: Brought the post award the case to the city and
- 6:59Speaker 5: your an uber driver gets a two week, all expense
- 7:03Speaker 5: paid trip to the Maldives.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Thanks Mindy Haley and I brought the traditional sugary board.
- 7:08Speaker 4: The knighthood from King Charles himself.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Next, Hi Ilyssa and I bought the chicken nugget Bard.
- 7:15Speaker 4: This is just pure laziness.
- 7:17Speaker 5: Six months community service and a five hundred pound five.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I cannot get enough of these videos. And now whenever
- 7:25Speaker 1: I'm like making something in the kitchen, I think, oh
- 7:27Speaker 1: my gosh, would she be paying? Would like my uber
- 7:31Speaker 1: driver and my lawyer get it a two week all
- 7:35Speaker 1: expense paid trip to Jamaica, Or would I get the
- 7:38Speaker 1: Brazen Bull or the Judas Cradle? Like She's in my
- 7:43Speaker 1: brain at all times. But it is such a fun
- 7:46Speaker 1: account to follow. What are you watching on social media
- 7:50Speaker 1: that has you in a choke hold right now?
- 7:51Speaker 4: What's yours?
- 7:52Speaker 3: Gabe? I can't stop.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I actually send one or two of these to Angie
- 7:56Speaker 2: every single day. Oh, yes, are the funny Harry Potter.
- 8:02Speaker 2: I don't even know what you call them. They like
- 8:04Speaker 2: take clips from them from the movie, or they take
- 8:07Speaker 2: things from the movie and just put these hilarious words
- 8:12Speaker 2: and I don't know what you want to call them
- 8:14Speaker 2: skits with them. Yeah, I have sent Angie three or
- 8:17Speaker 2: four of these in the past week. Yeah, and there
- 8:22Speaker 2: is this clip in It's called Loomo read all right.
- 8:26Speaker 2: If you go to Instagram and you type in Loomo
- 8:29Speaker 2: like in Harry Potter, loomis you know Lumo dot red
- 8:35Speaker 2: and you're a Harry Potter fan. I mean they have clips.
- 8:37Speaker 2: I've been in my office with tears laughing at you know,
- 8:41Speaker 2: it's so funny, and it's just every day as I'm
- 8:44Speaker 2: scrolling away and judging that I'm going there first. I
- 8:48Speaker 2: also really like watching hoof cleaning videos like hoof trimming very.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Yeah. Like cows.
- 8:56Speaker 4: Oh, I've never even I've never seen those.
- 8:58Speaker 2: There's nice guy from there's this guy from Scotland who
- 9:00Speaker 2: has made a fortune on social media because it's me
- 9:04Speaker 2: and the rest of I guess all of Europe watching
- 9:06Speaker 2: the stude clean hauku the phone cows.
- 9:10Speaker 1: The phones are always listening. So now that'll pop up
- 9:12Speaker 1: on Facebook.
- 9:14Speaker 4: We asked this question.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I've never even heard of these, so Zachary said the
- 9:18Speaker 1: AI bigfoot shorts and Quentin said the bigfoot pastor slash
- 9:24Speaker 1: sermons are amazing. So what there's a big foot AI
- 9:28Speaker 1: bigfoot doing things?
- 9:29Speaker 2: Now I know exactly what I'm going to be doing
- 9:32Speaker 2: during Benny Blanco and the Halsey and yes, check out
- 9:36Speaker 2: ai Bigfoot. Every day you wake up, there might be
- 9:44Speaker 2: something like this going off in the background, right, yes,
- 9:48Speaker 2: now annoying?
- 9:49Speaker 3: That thing is? Yes, all right, I'll shut it off.
- 9:54Speaker 2: That sound right there I could wake up to if
- 9:57Speaker 2: I'm in the deepest of sleeps on top can neil
- 10:00Speaker 2: that old saying sleeping like a log?
- 10:02Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 10:02Speaker 2: If I am sleeping like a log and I hear
- 10:05Speaker 2: that thing, I wake up in sheer panic.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Okay. And grub hub is.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Trying to help out college students. I think this is
- 10:12Speaker 2: pretty cool. Grub Hubb says about seventy percent of college
- 10:18Speaker 2: students sleep through their late night delivery order. Now are
- 10:22Speaker 2: they sleeping through or they accidentally passing out after one
- 10:24Speaker 2: too many bush lights. I'll let you be the judge, okay.
- 10:27Speaker 2: But they are offering snooze insurance. It's basically fifteen dollars
- 10:32Speaker 2: off of an over or a fifteen dollars off a
- 10:36Speaker 2: due over meal in the future. If you have a
- 10:39Speaker 2: student account, Angie, have you ever missed an alarm or
- 10:43Speaker 2: overslept for some kind of appointment? Because I overslept on
- 10:47Speaker 2: my very first day of radio school.
- 10:49Speaker 4: That's terrible.
- 10:51Speaker 3: One. It was late.
- 10:53Speaker 4: No, I'm not someone who oversleeps. I'm someone who dreams
- 10:57Speaker 4: that they oversleep. This happens to me all the time.
- 10:59Speaker 1: In a hay to me last week, I'll dream that
- 11:02Speaker 1: I overslept, and then I'll wake up every single hour
- 11:06Speaker 1: until I'm supposed to be up to.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Double check that.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I had I it was last week. I thought
- 11:12Speaker 1: I woke up at six thirty for this show. Yeah,
- 11:15Speaker 1: and it was like two in the morning, and I
- 11:17Speaker 1: was in such a panic that then I woke up
- 11:19Speaker 1: at three and four.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I've done that. Yeah, I've done that. Yeah.
- 11:23Speaker 2: My first day of and I use this in quotes
- 11:26Speaker 2: radio school, my first class wasn't until like ten o'clock.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Ten am, and you slept through that.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I slept not only past ten, I slept till eleven,
- 11:37Speaker 2: and then I had to drive twenty whatever minutes to class. Now, now,
- 11:42Speaker 2: the way this worked was you kind of had like
- 11:44Speaker 2: the blocked hours, right. Yeah, you'd take like one class
- 11:47Speaker 2: for like four hours, but you would you know, you
- 11:50Speaker 2: practice radio shows, and every two hours you'd take a
- 11:52Speaker 2: break and blah blah blah. You know what I'm saying
- 11:54Speaker 2: I was lucky and they were on a break when
- 11:57Speaker 2: I kind of wobbled my little booty into class, so
- 12:00Speaker 2: no one was in there. So when I sat down
- 12:02Speaker 2: and they all came back from break, I sat in
- 12:04Speaker 2: the very back. And then my buddy to this day,
- 12:07Speaker 2: his name is Tyler Lark, and he was like, oh,
- 12:09Speaker 2: vanage over sleep or go to the wrong building or
- 12:11Speaker 2: what blah blah. I was like, yeah, bro, we're just
- 12:13Speaker 2: gonna get through this first day here. You know, I
- 12:15Speaker 2: think that embarrassing thing.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Ever, I think that made all the difference because now
- 12:20Speaker 1: you're so bad at this because.
- 12:22Speaker 4: You miss whatever they taught that first hour.
- 12:26Speaker 2: That's what went wrong. I think you're right seven one
- 12:28Speaker 2: two eight zero one nine eight seven. Has there ever
- 12:30Speaker 2: been something you've accidentally overslept for? Let us know this morning?
- 12:39Speaker 2: Now the I guess the Kardashian goddess, yes, him, our
- 12:44Speaker 2: girl Kimberly.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Yes, she has some new what would you like tell it? Underwear?
- 12:51Speaker 1: Underwear and it's sold out, by the way, which is
- 12:54Speaker 1: the crazy of course it.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Did you know why? It was because of this ad
- 12:59Speaker 2: right here? All right, you're selling something that's a little
- 13:01Speaker 2: bit naughty. How do you even talk about this?
- 13:03Speaker 3: Right? I think this would be a great marketing campaign.
- 13:07Speaker 6: Hey, ladies want to look you're best introducing the hottest
- 13:11Speaker 6: collection from Kim Kardashians skims. The new skims that look
- 13:15Speaker 6: like wait a second, I can't say this. I'll just
- 13:18Speaker 6: say they're skims that look like something you know, a
- 13:23Speaker 6: person's Wow, this is tough. Just listen to the satisfied
- 13:27Speaker 6: skims that look like you know the customer.
- 13:30Speaker 7: Well, I can't really say what the product is, but
- 13:33Speaker 7: I will say that I like it and it makes
- 13:36Speaker 7: me look like I haven't well, okay, how do I
- 13:39Speaker 7: put this?
- 13:39Speaker 6: Like?
- 13:40Speaker 7: Sometimes women like to okay, Well, there's a part of
- 13:44Speaker 7: the body that I know what you're going to say,
- 13:46Speaker 7: and the answer is no, don't say it.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Well, then what can I say?
- 13:49Speaker 6: You've said more than enough. Kim Kardashian's new skims that
- 13:51Speaker 6: look like something warm in here order.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Now, there's no shot.
- 13:57Speaker 2: If you heard that commercial, you wouldn't immediately be like, wait,
- 13:59Speaker 2: what are the look like? Well, instantly you are trying
- 14:02Speaker 2: to find out what I feel.
- 14:04Speaker 3: What the those gyms look like?
- 14:07Speaker 1: I think I could this is a I think this
- 14:09Speaker 1: is a safe for work way to say it. Okay,
- 14:12Speaker 1: they look like a below the belt to pay.
- 14:18Speaker 3: I actually don't hate that at all.
- 14:19Speaker 2: That works right below the belt to pay, find yours
- 14:23Speaker 2: now for one hundred and fifty pay's riety big ninety
- 14:30Speaker 2: eight point seven. It's Gabe and Angie. Cloudy today, probably
- 14:33Speaker 2: some rain and high of seventy and we have games,
- 14:35Speaker 2: good news of the day today and it is very
- 14:37Speaker 2: exciting times in the FM area schools.
- 14:41Speaker 3: This is such a cool story.
- 14:43Speaker 2: And if you have an elementary school student, maybe you
- 14:46Speaker 2: know about this program. But we are dominating the national
- 14:50Speaker 2: average for this. I'll tell you what it is right now.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Good games, good news of the day. West Fargo Public schools.
- 14:59Speaker 2: They are they're just helping students who might need a
- 15:01Speaker 2: boost or some extra help. They're also supporting those who
- 15:05Speaker 2: are ahead of the curve. The districts Gifted and Talented
- 15:10Speaker 2: Education Program, also known as GATE, identifies advanced learners through
- 15:16Speaker 2: a short test in second grade, with programming beginning in
- 15:19Speaker 2: the third grade. For any parent with young kids, this
- 15:22Speaker 2: might sound familiar. Well, right now, about four hundred eleven
- 15:26Speaker 2: West Fargo elementary students, which is about sixteen percent of
- 15:31Speaker 2: the total, are in the GATE program that's more than
- 15:35Speaker 2: double the national average of a of just shy of
- 15:40Speaker 2: seven percent according to the US Department of Education. We
- 15:43Speaker 2: got some kids doing some advanced learning over there in
- 15:45Speaker 2: the West Fargo schools, and they're double what's going on
- 15:48Speaker 2: the rest of the world. The program focuses on adding
- 15:51Speaker 2: depth and complexity to regular classroom lessons, encouraging critical thinking
- 15:57Speaker 2: and problem solving. Fargo and more Head Schools also have
- 16:01Speaker 2: sim similar programs for gifted students, with Fargo serving about
- 16:05Speaker 2: thirteen percent EY kids in grades three through eight, well
- 16:09Speaker 2: above the national average, of course, and then Morehead averaging
- 16:13Speaker 2: twenty to twenty five gifted students per elementary building. All
- 16:18Speaker 2: three districts share the same goal, and that's helping high
- 16:20Speaker 2: achieving students stay challenged and engaged in classrooms.
- 16:24Speaker 3: There's small young people.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I was in Gate growing up, and actually my boyfriend, Mikey,
- 16:31Speaker 1: he is a Gate specialist. That's what he did teaching
- 16:35Speaker 1: for twenty something years. He's a Gate specialist and he's licensed.
- 16:40Speaker 4: Here in North Dakota.
- 16:41Speaker 1: So if anybody's looking for a gifted and talented education specialist,
- 16:46Speaker 1: Mikey is available.
- 16:48Speaker 3: That's right.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Angie was in Gate and I had trouble spelling it.
- 16:52Speaker 2: The world is still of nice people. If you can't
- 16:54Speaker 2: find one, you gotta be one.
