- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome back to another episode of Ross and Rizzo Unfiltered.
- 0:04Speaker 1: I'm Anthony Rizzo with my partner, David Ross. We are
- 0:09Speaker 1: coming to you talking about game four of the ALCS.
- 0:13Speaker 1: The Rays win 7-3 and tie it up, Rossi. We
- 0:18Speaker 1: have a series at 2-2. I think that's a bold
- 0:21Speaker 1: move by the Rays. I think the smart play from
- 0:24Speaker 1: previous experience is the Rays go down 3-1 to the
- 0:28Speaker 1: Guardians and come.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Back, right? Yeah, that's the formula. That's the formula we know.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I think that's the formula.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I don't know if the Rays want to use that formula,
- 0:38Speaker 3: but you're right, man. We got a really good game tonight.
- 0:42Speaker 3: The big three for Tampa Bay showed up. Yandy, Aranda,
- 0:48Speaker 3: Caminero with the big double down the line.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Right over Jose Ramirez's glove. What a big hit for them.
- 0:55Speaker 3: They need those three guys at the top to– to
- 0:58Speaker 3: produce offensively, you know, that that's been their, their kind
- 1:01Speaker 3: of story all year long with good pitching, good defense
- 1:04Speaker 3: and timely hitting. So, um, big games from those guys,
- 1:08Speaker 3: Yandi two for five, two RBIs, two runs scored. I
- 1:10Speaker 3: thought Aranda was my player of the game three for
- 1:13Speaker 3: four had with a walk, got, got on base, the
- 1:16Speaker 3: big knock early on off the end scoring Yandi with
- 1:19Speaker 3: two outs.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Um, that was huge to get back tied.
- 1:22Speaker 3: One-to-one when you're down, um, You know how it is
- 1:24Speaker 3: and that feeling when you're down in the series and
- 1:26Speaker 3: the other team takes the lead. You feel like it's
- 1:28Speaker 3: such a big uphill battle. And then Junior with that
- 1:31Speaker 3: big double, man. That was huge for them. And so
- 1:33Speaker 3: we had good pitching from both sides.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Oh, great pitching.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Nick Martinez, five and a third, two hits, one earned.
- 1:40Speaker 1: And then Kevin Cash bringing in Peralta. That tells you, right,
- 1:45Speaker 1: this is a must win for the race. And I
- 1:49Speaker 1: know this was Freddie's bullpen day and he just gave
- 1:52Speaker 1: him what, two-thirds of an inning, which I love.
- 1:55Speaker 2: And then they get the insurance run.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So it would have been interesting to see if they
- 1:59Speaker 1: left Peralta out there to keep going.
- 2:01Speaker 2: But I love that move, right?
- 2:03Speaker 1: I love bringing in Peralta there, bridging the gap until
- 2:05Speaker 1: you're back in.
- 2:07Speaker 3: This time of year, leaning on your best pitchers, right?
- 2:10Speaker 3: We've seen it from both sides. And I think Stephen
- 2:13Speaker 3: Vogt's doing a heck of a job as well, just
- 2:16Speaker 3: mixing and matching those looks out of the bullpen. But
- 2:19Speaker 3: the Rays just came up with a timely hitting. Kevin Cash,
- 2:21Speaker 3: you know, pulling all the right strings. And, you know,
- 2:24Speaker 3: this Guardians team, we talk about, and I don't want
- 2:28Speaker 3: to talk about the Brewers too much, but, like, just
- 2:30Speaker 3: the dominating, the good at bats, the quality at bats.
- 2:33Speaker 3: And I know when they– I thought when Yandy– I mean,
- 2:37Speaker 3: when Cameron Arrow hit that big double and then they
- 2:40Speaker 3: kind of broke it open with that error after Aranda's
- 2:42Speaker 3: base hit. But the Guardians fought back, scored two the
- 2:46Speaker 3: next inning. You know, like, they didn't– they don't quit.
- 2:50Speaker 2: They don't give up.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Making a 5-3 game there late, and then Yandy with
- 2:54Speaker 3: the big two-run homer late just put it out of reach.
- 2:57Speaker 2: They're relentless, man. That offense fights you.
- 3:01Speaker 1: How about they said during the game, Yandy was traded
- 3:03Speaker 1: for Jake Bowers years ago.
- 3:06Speaker 2: I didn't know that.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Potentially a World Series matchup here if the Rays can go.
- 3:09Speaker 2: On to win.
- 3:11Speaker 1: You know what's crazy to say? There's only three teams remaining,
- 3:15Speaker 1: but even the Dodgers-Brewers series.
- 3:18Speaker 2: How clean....
- 3:21Speaker 1: The baseball looks offensively. Defensively, it's been a little suspect.
- 3:24Speaker 1: There's been errors, crucial errors, pretty much, in every game.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Even that error there in, what, the seventh or eighth
- 3:31Speaker 1: was big because you hold the runner at third there.
- 3:35Speaker 2: They don't score two.
- 3:36Speaker 1: But offensively, it's just an old-school product we're seeing. We're
- 3:43Speaker 1: seeing guys bump. We're seeing guys move the runners over.
- 3:46Speaker 1: And I love seeing it. I really do, especially in
- 3:49Speaker 1: the playoffs. Over the course of 162, that style maybe
- 3:53Speaker 1: isn't as enticing as a player, but when you're playing
- 3:57Speaker 1: to win one game in the playoffs, I love this
- 4:01Speaker 1: style of baseball.
- 4:02Speaker 3: I remember earlier in my career, my first playoff series
- 4:05Speaker 3: with the Dodgers, and we were playing St. Louis, and
- 4:07Speaker 3: Sean Green was our best hitter. And it was a
- 4:10Speaker 3: leadoff double in front of him, and he rolled one
- 4:12Speaker 3: over to get the guy.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Over to third.
- 4:14Speaker 3: And normally during the season, you want your horse to
- 4:17Speaker 3: drive that guy in, and he came back in, which
- 4:19Speaker 3: is like, you know, nothing matters, but playing the game
- 4:22Speaker 3: and trying to win.
- 4:23Speaker 2: It doesn't matter. Everybody's got to give themselves up and
- 4:25Speaker 2: to the playoffs are all about. Yeah.
- 4:27Speaker 3: And so like, you know, am I, who, when I'm
- 4:31Speaker 3: thinking like a manager now, but like if fucking everybody
- 4:33Speaker 3: could play that way every single day during the season.
- 4:36Speaker 2: It's impossible though.
- 4:37Speaker 3: It is.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Is it? Well, yes, it is because look at the
- 4:42Speaker 1: end of the day, you have to be a winning player, right?
- 4:45Speaker 1: What is a winning player, Rossi? And you're, you, you've,
- 4:48Speaker 1: You were a winning player. You taught me how to
- 4:51Speaker 1: be a winning player. Winning player, in my opinion, is
- 4:54Speaker 1: someone who goes out with the best interest of everyone
- 4:57Speaker 1: else as well.
- 4:58Speaker 2: You can't be... Basically not selfish. That's how... Agreed. Agreed. Right?
- 5:01Speaker 1: That's a winning player. Good attitude, good teammate, picking others up.
- 5:06Speaker 1: But when it comes to playing the game, you are....
- 5:11Speaker 2: Maybe 10% selfish throughout the season. Is that safe to say? Yeah,
- 5:16Speaker 2: that's safe to say. Yeah.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:17Speaker 2: You all, I mean, you also have a career to have, right?
- 5:19Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 5:20Speaker 1: So what I mean by, what I mean by 10%
- 5:24Speaker 1: selfish is, you know, you, you take the big swing
- 5:27Speaker 1: on two Oh, with a runner on second, third, less
- 5:30Speaker 1: than two outs. But, but then if you don't, you
- 5:33Speaker 1: have one swing and then you go back down to
- 5:35Speaker 1: just trying to get one run and things like that
- 5:37Speaker 1: makes you a winning player. And if you have winning
- 5:40Speaker 1: players throughout the season, But in the postseason, that's when
- 5:43Speaker 1: you need to be 99% for the boys and 1% selfish.
- 5:47Speaker 1: And that 1% selfish, I don't even know how to
- 5:51Speaker 1: justify it.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Well, it's funny.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Like the example I've given, I've played with a guy
- 5:58Speaker 3: that just, you know, I don't know if he didn't
- 5:59Speaker 3: know the game yet, but it was, you know, your
- 6:03Speaker 3: pitcher had a long inning, gave up a couple runs,
- 6:05Speaker 3: and then, you know, the first batter, knowing he's getting
- 6:09Speaker 3: a heater, swings at it second batter pops up one
- 6:12Speaker 3: up you know and then that third battery's like you
- 6:15Speaker 3: got to take a pit like let's try to grind
- 6:17Speaker 3: a bat and he's the one that that swings because
- 6:19Speaker 3: he knows he's getting a heater like i'm like that's
- 6:21Speaker 3: the guy you're like that's a losing player you know
- 6:23Speaker 3: hold on i have.
- 6:24Speaker 1: A good story for you here all right all right
- 6:26Speaker 1: with the yankees i had a mandatory rule because this
- 6:30Speaker 1: this swinging early stuff came in probably.
- 6:33Speaker 2: When i got traded to the yankees more than when
- 6:36Speaker 2: i was with the cubs i remember i remember after
- 6:38Speaker 2: you traded me i mean i.
- 6:42Speaker 3: I remember Tashara telling me we were on, after I
- 6:45Speaker 3: was done, he was talking about percentage-wise, like, the best
- 6:48Speaker 3: pitch to swing at is the first pitch, right?
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it's the best one. But, like, you better
- 6:53Speaker 2: fucking do something with it.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Well, I had a rule with the Yankees where, because
- 6:57Speaker 1: we were swinging early, right? And, honestly, in the back
- 7:01Speaker 1: end of my career, it was like I'd rather face
- 7:02Speaker 1: the starter three times instead of getting to the bullpen
- 7:04Speaker 1: because the bullpens were just becoming.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Nastier and nastier.
- 7:07Speaker 1: So I had a mandatory rule that if the first
- 7:10Speaker 1: two guys in the inning swung at the first pitch
- 7:12Speaker 1: and I was hitting third, I was swinging no matter–
- 7:15Speaker 1: if that was a strike, no matter what.
- 7:18Speaker 2: And it happened to me. It happened to me.
- 7:20Speaker 1: And I– two pitches go, two outs, and I look
- 7:24Speaker 1: in the dugout and I just give like the little smirk.
- 7:26Speaker 1: You know, I give smirks during the game. And I
- 7:28Speaker 1: hit a fucking missile to right for a double, I believe.
- 7:31Speaker 1: It was either a double or a long single or
- 7:33Speaker 1: a short single at Yankee Stadium.
- 7:35Speaker 3: Bro, I was in Atlanta, and we were in extras.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Or maybe it was the ninth, and the closer's in.
- 7:41Speaker 3: The first two guys swung the first pitch. And then
- 7:43Speaker 3: our good friend of the program, Eric Henske, is pinch hitting.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Love Ski.
- 7:49Speaker 3: And Ski's like, I'm pitch hitting. I'm fucking swinging. Hit
- 7:53Speaker 3: a freaking bomb to put us ahead in the ninth.
- 7:57Speaker 3: And I'm like, you know, nobody's supposed to swing at
- 8:00Speaker 3: that pitch. I mean, it does work. If you hit
- 8:02Speaker 3: it in the seats, all bets are off, right?
- 8:04Speaker 2: Like, if you... You get a double, you know, you
- 8:06Speaker 2: do something.
- 8:06Speaker 3: But it's so demoralizing when somebody rolls over, pops one up,
- 8:10Speaker 3: and you're like, what the heck?
- 8:12Speaker 2: Yeah, but at least the boys knew, right? They knew. Yeah, yeah,
- 8:14Speaker 2: they knew. This was a thing I couldn't wait to do.
- 8:17Speaker 1: But anyways, we got off the topic about winning players, right?
- 8:21Speaker 1: You have to be a winning player throughout the regular
- 8:24Speaker 1: season and the postseason. What you're seeing right now, the
- 8:26Speaker 1: product of offense that you're seeing right now is such
- 8:29Speaker 1: a pure– pure way to play the game, in my opinion.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I just love watching this style of baseball the last
- 8:36Speaker 1: two weeks of the postseason here.
- 8:38Speaker 3: And that's why the great pitching is so important this
- 8:42Speaker 3: time of year because everybody's locked in and having their
- 8:45Speaker 3: best at bat every single time up. And, you know,
- 8:50Speaker 3: the pitching's been so nasty and you've got to execute.
- 8:53Speaker 3: And one two-seamer that leaks back over the middle, you know,
- 8:56Speaker 3: could be a game changer.
- 8:57Speaker 2: No doubt. Yeah, you're right. I've been impressed.
- 9:01Speaker 3: And I don't know if doing this pod has made
- 9:03Speaker 3: me focus even more on the little details, like when
- 9:07Speaker 3: you're not in the dugout. But as a fan, you
- 9:09Speaker 3: watch casually at home since I've been retired and doing
- 9:12Speaker 3: some TV, you watch a little bit harder. But doing
- 9:16Speaker 3: this and talking about it every night, the guys that
- 9:18Speaker 3: are having the quality of bats stand out and the
- 9:21Speaker 3: guys that give away at bats from time to time
- 9:24Speaker 3: stand out because they're trying to be the hero.
- 9:25Speaker 2: No doubt. Two things, Rossi.
- 9:28Speaker 1: How about Foster Griffin and Nick Martinez both going to
- 9:32Speaker 1: Japan in their careers to reestablish themselves back to the
- 9:37Speaker 1: big leagues and then Foster came in in the bulk
- 9:40Speaker 1: after the opener and Nick Martinez going five.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Just a cool story for those two.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Everyone's journey to the big leagues, up and down from
- 9:49Speaker 1: the big leagues, going to Japan, going overseas to play
- 9:52Speaker 1: and then back, like never giving up is awesome to
- 9:55Speaker 1: see these two dudes in their championship series, both two
- 9:58Speaker 1: wins away from going to the World Series. So just
- 10:01Speaker 1: cool stories on that front.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Love to hear that.
- 10:03Speaker 3: I love Chris Tran kind of letting our fans in
- 10:07Speaker 3: on what, with the rain delay and the game getting
- 10:10Speaker 3: canceled yesterday, like what do we do during a rain delay?
- 10:13Speaker 2: And I text him back, I'm like, You know what
- 10:16Speaker 2: we do? We give speeches and go out and win
- 10:19Speaker 2: the fucking World Series. That's what we do. That's only
- 10:22Speaker 2: during the playoffs. Okay, okay, okay, okay.
- 10:25Speaker 1: The picture you sent to the group, which I'm sure
- 10:26Speaker 1: we'll clip in here, is me, Rossi, and Eric Hinsky
- 10:32Speaker 1: laying down on the floor, all big spooning each other.
- 10:35Speaker 3: In Pittsburgh, after crushing as much food as we possibly could.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Yeah, what you do, usually during the, it depends on
- 10:43Speaker 1: what the rain delay is, if it's going to be
- 10:48Speaker 1: a long rain delay, the worst rain delays are the
- 10:51Speaker 1: ones that happen like 30 minutes right before the game
- 10:54Speaker 1: because you fully get into.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Your game mode. You launch.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I got all the icy hot on my back. Everything
- 11:03Speaker 1: that you take is a pre-workout.
- 11:04Speaker 2: You've swung in the cage. You've played catch. You've got
- 11:05Speaker 2: a good lather.
- 11:07Speaker 1: And then all of a sudden, you're in a delay,
- 11:08Speaker 1: and you're like, no. The games that you know you're
- 11:11Speaker 1: going to be in a delay– help. And then in
- 11:14Speaker 1: game delays, those are the worst. Cause you already are
- 11:16Speaker 1: played a few innings and then you come in and
- 11:18Speaker 1: it's like, I'd always go for a Dr. Pepper and pizza.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Usually if we had it, I, I was, I.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Hated like getting all worked, especially like usually a rain
- 11:29Speaker 3: delay as a catcher. If I was playing, which is
- 11:31Speaker 3: a rarity, um, but you get like kind of wet and,
- 11:36Speaker 3: and soaked and you're catching deers nasty and you, I
- 11:41Speaker 3: hated changing. I hated putting on a new uniform and
- 11:44Speaker 3: getting back in there. So I like to stay kind
- 11:46Speaker 3: of just gross. But you've got a lot of sitting
- 11:49Speaker 3: around to do and you want to... Your body just
- 11:52Speaker 3: starts to like kind of shut down because it's used
- 11:54Speaker 3: to just keep going.
- 11:55Speaker 2: And that's the thing, getting back. I can shut off. Well,
- 11:58Speaker 2: if I was freaking 39 trying to keep this.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Trying to keep.
- 12:03Speaker 2: This machine lubed up.
- 12:05Speaker 1: You know what else happens during rain days? Everyone turns
- 12:07Speaker 1: into a meteorologist. Everyone.
- 12:10Speaker 2: You got... I had like nine different apps on my
- 12:12Speaker 2: phone for weather. There's a window. There's always, there's always
- 12:15Speaker 2: a window. You know what I love doing?
- 12:17Speaker 1: Telling people there was a window at home Depot and
- 12:19Speaker 1: telling everyone that the game was canceled all the time.
- 12:22Speaker 2: I'd walk and be like, Oh, they banged it. And
- 12:24Speaker 2: I'm like, really?
- 12:25Speaker 1: And it would piss guys off so much.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Cause then everyone kind of exhale a bit. I'm like, nah,
- 12:30Speaker 2: I'm just kidding guys. Dexter used to do that too.
- 12:33Speaker 2: He used to walk to the shower, like, man, this
- 12:35Speaker 2: game's over. And he started like pretending to go to shower.
- 12:38Speaker 3: When I manage, I would like, over-communicated because I would
- 12:41Speaker 3: be on the phone with MLB or the guys in
- 12:44Speaker 3: charge or the other manager and trying to figure things out.
- 12:46Speaker 3: I tried to over-communicate because it's just miserable sitting there
- 12:51Speaker 3: not knowing anything. Can I fully shut it down? Can
- 12:55Speaker 3: I get on my phone and just kick back? I
- 12:58Speaker 3: need a 30-minute heads-up. And then the pitcher's got it
- 13:02Speaker 3: the worst. He's trying to stay loose, especially in-game if
- 13:05Speaker 3: it's just started or maybe he's got another inning or
- 13:08Speaker 3: two left. Uh, and he's only like 50 pitches in,
- 13:11Speaker 3: you know, you try to try to keep that guy
- 13:13Speaker 3: throwing some bullpens. And if it takes too long, you
- 13:15Speaker 3: got to shut him down and crank somebody else up
- 13:17Speaker 3: and letting that guy know who he is.
- 13:19Speaker 2: And, um, just kind of planning ahead for that.
- 13:21Speaker 3: But there's a lot of, um, well, I know the
- 13:23Speaker 3: mind doesn't shut off. The mind doesn't shut off here
- 13:26Speaker 3: in the rain delay. That's the hard part. You just,
- 13:28Speaker 3: you can't fully check out.
- 13:30Speaker 1: The league's taken a lot of heat. MLB saw a
- 13:34Speaker 1: lot of heat from all the people talking about this
- 13:37Speaker 1: game on TV. over the last 24 hours about you
- 13:41Speaker 1: know as a fan I understand you're pissed off right
- 13:44Speaker 1: like as a player there's definitely times where we feel
- 13:50Speaker 1: like you know being on the Cubs or the Yankees
- 13:52Speaker 1: especially if we're in a visiting place right around the
- 13:56Speaker 1: league and I don't want to call out teams but
- 13:59Speaker 1: there are certain teams you felt like you knew this
- 14:01Speaker 1: game was going to get cancelled and they just let
- 14:04Speaker 1: the gate open to get the gate to get the
- 14:07Speaker 1: beer sales now that's the regular season, right? If the
- 14:11Speaker 1: Cubs and Yankees are in town, it's a big draw
- 14:13Speaker 1: for that attendance, I understand. During the postseason, I can
- 14:18Speaker 1: almost guarantee the league is not messing around, right? I
- 14:21Speaker 1: even looked at the weather yesterday, Rossi, because we were
- 14:23Speaker 1: seeing if we were going to watch this game. I
- 14:25Speaker 1: pulled up the weather app and I just saw the
- 14:28Speaker 1: backfill coming off Lake Erie of just storms popping up.
- 14:32Speaker 1: So it looked like it was clearing up. It looked
- 14:34Speaker 1: like there was going to be a game and then
- 14:36Speaker 1: it just kept raining and stuff kept popping up. So
- 14:39Speaker 1: It's really unfortunate, I feel, for the fans, especially those
- 14:42Speaker 1: standing-only seats there in Cleveland where they panned to them
- 14:46Speaker 1: during the rain delay where they're just grinding there in
- 14:48Speaker 1: the rain because they don't want to lose their standing-room-only seat.
- 14:52Speaker 1: You go to this game, you make plans, you're pumped.
- 14:54Speaker 1: It's a core memory that you're having with whoever you're
- 14:57Speaker 1: going with. Maybe it's your mom, maybe it's your dad
- 14:59Speaker 1: or friends.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Son or daughter. Son or daughter, you're spending a ton
- 15:05Speaker 2: of money on concessions.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I feel for the fans that were there for two
- 15:09Speaker 1: hours and kind of strung along, but I can guarantee
- 15:13Speaker 1: you that the league was doing everything they could to
- 15:15Speaker 1: get that game in yesterday. They do not want to
- 15:17Speaker 1: be playing a games tomorrow versus NFL football Sunday.
- 15:22Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 15:23Speaker 3: Right. Right.
- 15:25Speaker 1: But I love it. I love the four games in
- 15:27Speaker 1: a row. Now I think that instantly this goes to.
- 15:30Speaker 2: The advantage of the race, right? I agree. I agree.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Because they're deeper, they're a deeper team. They, they've proven
- 15:36Speaker 1: over the season. They're the best team in the American league. So,
- 15:39Speaker 1: them winning this game now, it's full-on momentum to the Rays. Like,
- 15:44Speaker 1: the Guardians are dark horses now in this series, in
- 15:47Speaker 1: my opinion.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Yeah, man, I'm with you.
- 15:50Speaker 3: When I saw it was going to be four in
- 15:51Speaker 3: a row, I thought immediately, you know, especially with the
- 15:54Speaker 3: Rays winning tonight, we get a little more advantage there. But,
- 15:58Speaker 3: you know, these guys, it feels like, you know, going
- 16:02Speaker 3: back to Tampa now, they're definitely going to have a
- 16:04Speaker 3: game six in Tampa, which, happy for those Rays fans
- 16:09Speaker 3: getting more playoff baseball and championship baseball so um i'm
- 16:13Speaker 3: with you man the the rain stuff always sucks i
- 16:15Speaker 3: think for everybody it's like you can't really make everybody
- 16:19Speaker 3: happy in those situations but um fans are fans are
- 16:23Speaker 3: i saw where mlb chris rose i think blasted him
- 16:25Speaker 3: a little bit and was trying to trying to uh
- 16:28Speaker 3: trying to i love chris rose too by the way
- 16:30Speaker 3: yeah yeah that's what i mean yeah it was great
- 16:31Speaker 3: like that's why i follow him and listen to his
- 16:35Speaker 3: to his stuff so um You know, he had a
- 16:37Speaker 3: good point just about, like, just keeping the fans informed
- 16:41Speaker 3: as well.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Yeah, they didn't bring anyone on.
- 16:43Speaker 1: That's the most frustrating part, too, for us players is, like,
- 16:46Speaker 1: all right. Usually they tell us, all right, we're going
- 16:48Speaker 1: to meet in 45 minutes. We're going to meet in
- 16:50Speaker 1: an hour, things like that. Booney was really good at
- 16:53Speaker 1: telling us, like, hey, it's probably going to be an
- 16:57Speaker 1: hour and a half.
- 16:57Speaker 2: This could be quick type thing, so. yeah as long
- 17:00Speaker 2: as the Yankees probably have some special.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Their own radar no bro the Yankees were the fucking
- 17:06Speaker 1: best at this like really I have I gained so
- 17:10Speaker 1: much respect not that this matters but every pretty much
- 17:16Speaker 1: almost every double header we had to play Yankee Stadium
- 17:18Speaker 1: was just a back-to-back double header like they didn't go
- 17:21Speaker 1: with a day-night bullshit oh nice to get multiple gates
- 17:24Speaker 1: they just they would cancel the game and they'd say,
- 17:27Speaker 1: all right, back-to-back doubleheader, not day-night. And day-night doubleheaders for.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Players are a grind.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Day-nights are the worst, bro. Like that, that's one thing.
- 17:37Speaker 2: And I was surprised. And I get it. Like I
- 17:40Speaker 2: get getting the gate.
- 17:40Speaker 3: And you know, you've, these guys are, or you've got
- 17:43Speaker 3: 81 home games that are guaranteed. And so getting one
- 17:49Speaker 3: of those ups, a lot of dang money for ownership
- 17:51Speaker 3: and all that.
- 17:52Speaker 2: But, It's the day-night thing. You're at the ballpark all
- 17:55Speaker 2: freaking day. All day. And then you got another one
- 17:57Speaker 2: the next day. Yeah, yeah. And again.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Rossi, before we go to our Tim Buss ball bags,
- 18:04Speaker 1: Yandy Diaz, second and third, I believe it was what?
- 18:09Speaker 1: No outs or one out. Strike three, about a half
- 18:14Speaker 1: a ball off the plate. You know he knows it's
- 18:17Speaker 1: a ball. He doesn't challenge. Yandy Diaz has not challenged
- 18:21Speaker 1: one out.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Un time this year.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Un. Un.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Bro, I don't think the Rays, I think one of their,
- 18:31Speaker 2: I guess, flaws, if you would say.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Like, there's a bunch that were missed tonight that it,
- 18:36Speaker 3: I'm just saying, like, watching the Brewers and how good
- 18:39Speaker 3: they were at it and the Dodgers and that series
- 18:42Speaker 3: just was a lot of challenges.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Minus William Contreras. He did a lot right, too. He
- 18:49Speaker 2: was hot and cold, I felt. But I just mean
- 18:55Speaker 2: it stands out because the Rays don't challenge hardly at all.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I mean, if you're going to challenge there, like, second
- 19:02Speaker 1: and third, you've got to get those runs in.
- 19:04Speaker 2: The game's tight. But on the flip side, the baseball
- 19:08Speaker 2: gods are rewarding them. He could have challenged. Who knows
- 19:11Speaker 2: what would have happened the next pitch. His next to bat, Palakai.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Home run.
- 19:16Speaker 3: If I was, like– if I went back to managing–
- 19:18Speaker 3: the hitter is so important, but I think the catcher
- 19:21Speaker 3: part of it, like keeping those for the catcher is
- 19:23Speaker 3: a good strategy because it's just as important.
- 19:26Speaker 2: They're, they're both important, right.
- 19:28Speaker 3: And in certain instances, but if you're unsure at all
- 19:31Speaker 3: as a hitter, you know, I feel like catchers have
- 19:34Speaker 3: just a better look at it. And probably the percentages
- 19:37Speaker 3: are much higher unless you just, you know, like a
- 19:39Speaker 3: guy like Ian Happ knows the strike zone as good
- 19:42Speaker 3: as anybody.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Like in some, some of those, Some of those guys
- 19:45Speaker 3: that challenge are kind of, they're on the edges. Usually
- 19:48Speaker 3: when you're catching, it's pretty darn close. or the game
- 19:50Speaker 3: situation dictates if this thing's close, I'm going to pull
- 19:53Speaker 3: the trigger.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it drove me crazy throughout the year seeing left-handed
- 19:57Speaker 1: hitters challenge left-handed pitchers, especially if you don't play them
- 20:00Speaker 1: against them a lot. They would challenge that pitch on
- 20:02Speaker 1: the outside corner. It's like, bro, you can't challenge that pitch.
- 20:06Speaker 2: That's a strike, right? Yeah. Well, think about how far
- 20:11Speaker 2: the game has come, the challenge system has come just
- 20:15Speaker 2: this year with, like, pitchers were challenging early in the year.
- 20:18Speaker 2: I hadn't seen a pitcher challenge in months, you know? Yeah.
- 20:24Speaker 1: I had a driver in Chicago tell me he drives
- 20:26Speaker 1: the umpires all the time, and he was like, the
- 20:28Speaker 1: number one thing the umpires, the only thing they care
- 20:31Speaker 1: about is a pitcher challenging and being right. which pitchers
- 20:36Speaker 1: didn't challenge, but they just didn't want the pitcher to challenge.
- 20:40Speaker 2: That's what he heard. That was great. That was great.
- 20:42Speaker 3: There's something about the warm summer air and a cold
- 20:45Speaker 3: corona with Lyme that makes the roar of the crowd
- 20:47Speaker 3: sound a lot like the roar of the waves.
- 20:50Speaker 2: That's because this is our playa, and the best seats
- 20:52Speaker 2: are always wherever you're sitting.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Whether it's a weeknight game under the lights or a
- 20:56Speaker 3: Sunday afternoon in the sun, you know baseball isn't about
- 20:59Speaker 3: rushing around. It's about settling in, letting the game come
- 21:02Speaker 3: to you, and nothing pairs better Than an ice cold Corona.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Nothing. So find your seat. Your Corona. And your line.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Because real fans know. The only thing better than nine innings.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Is extra innings. Especially on La Playa. Corona. La Playa awaits.

- 21:34Speaker 2: What's up, guys?
- 21:35Speaker 3: I need to tell you about this new prediction market
- 21:37Speaker 3: called PolyMarket. It's the best new way to trade in sports.
- 21:41Speaker 3: In the past, if you wanted action on the game,
- 21:43Speaker 3: you put some money in, and if your team was
- 21:45Speaker 3: doing well and you wanted to cash out, they'd lock
- 21:48Speaker 3: the trade and take a huge fee. But PolyMarket is
- 21:51Speaker 3: a prediction market. It's a stock exchange for sports, buying
- 21:54Speaker 3: in and selling out on your terms. I've tried them all,
- 21:57Speaker 3: and PolyMarket is simply the best prediction market, better than DraftKings, FanDuel, Calshi,
- 22:03Speaker 3: you name it. They're so confident you'll never go back
- 22:05Speaker 3: to the other guys. They're giving you a free $ 25
- 22:08Speaker 3: on your first trade when you deposit just $ 10. And
- 22:10Speaker 3: now they've launched a new feature, Squads, a group chat
- 22:14Speaker 3: where you can see what everyone is trading. So download
- 22:17Speaker 3: the Polymarket app today and use the code RossRizzo when
- 22:20Speaker 3: you sign up. That's code RossRizzo and get $ 25 free
- 22:25Speaker 3: after you deposit just $ 10.
- 22:26Speaker 2: All right, let's get some ball bags. Let's do it.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Let's see here.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Again, Ball bag, Tim Buss ball bag. Tim Buss was
- 22:33Speaker 1: our strength coach in Chicago. The greatest human being of
- 22:36Speaker 1: all time. The greatest strength coach, the greatest person in
- 22:39Speaker 1: the game I've ever been around. Tim Buss, we love you.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Ball bag questions, email us, rossandrizzo at gmail.com. Leave comments
- 22:47Speaker 1: on YouTube. Interact with us on our socials. Rossi, we
- 22:51Speaker 1: got to start, we love reading the comments. I'm going
- 22:53Speaker 1: to start chirping back a little bit at some of
- 22:55Speaker 1: the comments.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Good and bad. This email is from Justin Lackney. Justin. Yeah,
- 23:02Speaker 2: we had Justin. Long time listener, repeat sender. Alright, Justin.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Was there one franchise that you never played for that
- 23:10Speaker 1: you wish you'd had the opportunity to do so? What
- 23:13Speaker 1: made them so appealing?
- 23:16Speaker 2: Ooh, I think the first one that comes to mind
- 23:18Speaker 2: for me is the Yankees.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Like, I just, you know, or either New York team,
- 23:25Speaker 3: I think there was always, you got to play for
- 23:29Speaker 3: that franchise and they're first class. It feels like from
- 23:32Speaker 3: the outside, every resource is given to you. And I
- 23:35Speaker 3: got to play with two organizations that gave you every
- 23:38Speaker 3: resource in Boston and Chicago. And I don't know, winning
- 23:42Speaker 3: in New York, obviously, you know, you got all the
- 23:45Speaker 3: way to the World Series on a really good team.
- 23:48Speaker 3: And just being on that platform and on that stage,
- 23:52Speaker 3: that's the highest of the high it feels like. And now,
- 23:55Speaker 3: you know, I've started out in L.A., which was a
- 23:57Speaker 3: big market, and now they're kind of the same like
- 24:00Speaker 3: the Yankees when I was coming up but yeah I
- 24:04Speaker 3: think New York stands out to me I'd love to
- 24:06Speaker 3: play New York and the dinners and the just you
- 24:08Speaker 3: know I don't know you just if you're important in
- 24:11Speaker 3: New York it's got to be really cool.
- 24:16Speaker 1: For me Rossi Yankees unbelievable for me Red Sox I
- 24:23Speaker 1: got drafted by the Red Sox I didn't make it
- 24:25Speaker 1: to the big leagues with them so I guess I
- 24:27Speaker 1: was in their organization but to play in the biggest.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Fenway was.
- 24:30Speaker 1: My favorite park visiting, favorite road park, other than Wrigley
- 24:35Speaker 1: and Yankee Stadium, but those were my home ballparks.
- 24:38Speaker 2: And I thought it would have been really.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Cool, full circle at the end, to play for the
- 24:42Speaker 1: Red Sox at some point, getting drafted by them, them
- 24:45Speaker 1: helping me through my cancer journey, and staying.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Close to people in that organization. So that would have
- 24:50Speaker 2: been fun. That would have been cool. I think... One
- 24:53Speaker 2: more I want to throw in there. I think, like,
- 24:54Speaker 2: I always... Thought it'd be cool to be in Texas somewhere.
- 24:57Speaker 2: I love the state.
- 24:59Speaker 1: She's from Texas, I can tell by the way.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Just sipping around the room. Okay, next email from Jacob Henniger.
- 25:11Speaker 2: What is a road series like for players and coaches?
- 25:13Speaker 2: Do you have to pack street clothes and uniforms? Does
- 25:17Speaker 2: someone do it for you?
- 25:19Speaker 3: Do you just show up to the airport or meet
- 25:22Speaker 3: somewhere and take a bus to the airport?
- 25:24Speaker 2: What about... close games like the Southside or Milwaukee?
- 25:28Speaker 1: Oh, good question. I guess everybody wouldn't know this. Well, Jacob, yeah,
- 25:31Speaker 1: I'll take you in. We are spoon-fed as big leaguers.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Spoiled. Spoiled.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Our clubhouse managers, I've had the GOATs, the greatest. We
- 25:46Speaker 1: had Tom Otis Hellman, who's not with us anymore, but
- 25:49Speaker 1: Otis was just a bridge in the game.
- 25:52Speaker 2: He was in the game for 50 years.
- 25:55Speaker 1: He was Pete Rose's clubhouse manager. So how it goes
- 26:00Speaker 1: is they pack everything for you. At the end of
- 26:04Speaker 1: the game, you just throw in all your essentials that
- 26:06Speaker 1: you need. They pack your bag. They send it. They
- 26:09Speaker 1: take it. And then when you get to the road.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Like your personal items, right?
- 26:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Like they got all the clothes. You throw your.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Cleats in there, your shoes, whatever, like shoes and sunglasses. And,
- 26:18Speaker 1: you know, if you're bringing sweatbands and whatnot, batting gloves.
- 26:21Speaker 1: And then once it's done, you zip it up. They
- 26:24Speaker 1: take it. You don't see it until you get to
- 26:26Speaker 1: the clubhouse the next day, and it's all unpacked, hung
- 26:30Speaker 1: up in our locker. Everything is perfectly put away like
- 26:36Speaker 1: Santa just came, honestly.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Right? That's a good description. Yeah, that's a good example.
- 26:41Speaker 2: That's a good analogy.
- 26:42Speaker 1: And then we take a bus to the airport. My
- 26:45Speaker 1: first years in Chicago, we did not have a police escort,
- 26:49Speaker 1: so leaving those midweek day games or weekend day games,
- 26:52Speaker 1: Took us about two hours to get to the airport.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Anyone who's getting out of Wrigley going that way towards
- 26:59Speaker 1: the airport understands the traffic on Irving. So then the
- 27:05Speaker 1: best in the game, our traveling secretary, Vijay Tekandani, got
- 27:12Speaker 1: us a police escort. So from there on out, I
- 27:15Speaker 1: always have police escorts to the airport. get on the plane.
- 27:20Speaker 1: You go through security real quick, but it's your own
- 27:22Speaker 1: private security. It's TSA where they scan you, but you
- 27:27Speaker 1: just get right on a plane. And then as soon
- 27:29Speaker 1: as you get on a plane, there's just pretty much
- 27:32Speaker 1: endless amount of food offered to right away, whether it's
- 27:36Speaker 1: healthy or unhealthy. You got it all from towards the end.
- 27:38Speaker 1: It was a lot more health conscious stuff, but you
- 27:42Speaker 1: fly and you get bused to the hotel there. Your
- 27:45Speaker 1: room keys are right there. When you walk in, it's like, it's,
- 27:48Speaker 1: it's what you dream of as a kid. It's, it's
- 27:50Speaker 1: really cool. I miss anything Rossi?
- 27:53Speaker 2: We pack our own street clothes. Like you pack up
- 27:55Speaker 2: before you leave the house, like whatever, kind of what
- 27:57Speaker 2: you're going to sleep in.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Sometimes you have to travel and, and you know, when
- 28:01Speaker 3: I was coming up, you had to have a suit. Um,
- 28:03Speaker 3: you know, usually a veteran would, would buy a rookie
- 28:06Speaker 3: a suit and hook you up or then it got
- 28:08Speaker 3: to just a sport coat and then it got to,
- 28:10Speaker 3: there's jumpsuits, team travel. I did that just to make
- 28:13Speaker 3: it easy on everybody. I wanted everybody to be comfy. So, um, Joe, Joe's,
- 28:17Speaker 3: Joe's thing, Madden's thing, was if you look hot, wear it.
- 28:19Speaker 3: So he had no real rules other than just if
- 28:24Speaker 3: you looked hot, wear it. But, no, you're not missing anything.
- 28:27Speaker 3: We are so spoiled.
- 28:28Speaker 1: So you pack your own suitcase at home, you bring it,
- 28:30Speaker 1: and as soon as you get to the field, there's
- 28:32Speaker 1: someone there that will take your suitcase, make sure it
- 28:34Speaker 1: gets put. Make sure once you get to the field,
- 28:39Speaker 1: they take your suitcase, and you won't see it again
- 28:41Speaker 1: until it's in your hotel room. You get there at
- 28:43Speaker 1: the hotel, they just send them up to the room
- 28:45Speaker 1: for you.
- 28:46Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm trying to think back.
- 28:48Speaker 3: You get a team-issued piece of luggage, too. Like, the
- 28:51Speaker 3: show organizations give you a piece of luggage at the
- 28:55Speaker 3: beginning of the season when you break camp in spring training.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I still have all those. I do, too. I do, too.
- 29:01Speaker 2: A big Cubs logo on my suitcase. You can't miss it.
- 29:04Speaker 3: I still got my bag tag that says, if lost,
- 29:08Speaker 3: send to Wrigley Field or whatever it is.
- 29:10Speaker 2: You can't miss those. And then the Southside and Milwaukee, they...
- 29:16Speaker 2: We just drive there. There's a bus that will go.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Milwaukee, when I was younger, I would commute all the time.
- 29:23Speaker 1: I would just drive back and forth if there was
- 29:25Speaker 1: night games. And then if there was a day game,
- 29:28Speaker 1: the next day I would just stay up there because
- 29:29Speaker 1: I didn't like staying in that fister. Those haunted rooms
- 29:32Speaker 1: were little. Whenever I went up there, I always gave
- 29:35Speaker 1: my room away and I stayed on the newer side
- 29:38Speaker 1: because I was like, I don't want to mess with it.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Got a good thing going here.
- 29:43Speaker 3: Yeah those uh that fister is well documented how many
- 29:46Speaker 3: guys uh and then now they've switched there's a newer
- 29:49Speaker 3: hotel uh they stay at but yeah um yeah i
- 29:52Speaker 3: like to drive driving so much better and to the
- 29:54Speaker 3: abusing team most times is very you know you've got
- 29:58Speaker 3: to a visiting player's parking lot.
- 30:00Speaker 2: You can walk right in.
- 30:01Speaker 3: It's kind of nice to just get in your car
- 30:03Speaker 3: and go home after a game and go back to
- 30:04Speaker 3: your own bed.
- 30:05Speaker 2: So that's always nice.
- 30:08Speaker 1: On road series where the stadium was far from the hotel,
- 30:12Speaker 1: I would rent a car later in my career.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Same. Yeah, later in my career. I didn't like the
- 30:17Speaker 2: 45-minute bus rides. Arizona was a big one.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Arizona was like a longer bus ride, and you liked
- 30:23Speaker 3: to get out and go and get lunch in Scottsdale
- 30:26Speaker 3: and all that area. So that was a nice place
- 30:28Speaker 3: to rent a car.
- 30:29Speaker 1: When we started the 2016 season, we started in Anaheim.
- 30:34Speaker 1: You remember the rental car we had, Rossi?
- 30:36Speaker 2: I do not, no. It was a white Dodge minivan. Ha, ha, ha.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Whenever we rolled up to the Equinox, we valeted. To
- 30:45Speaker 2: work out. I do remember that.
- 30:46Speaker 1: This insane, whatever that nice Equinox is in Newport or
- 30:50Speaker 1: wherever we went in Anaheim.
- 30:52Speaker 2: We roll up.
- 30:53Speaker 1: They have valet at the Equinox. That's how nice it is.
- 30:56Speaker 1: In this minivan, they're looking at us like, what the
- 30:57Speaker 1: fuck are these bozos doing?
- 31:01Speaker 2: Oh, good question. Good question from Jacob. All right.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Email from Justin Julian White. Rizzo, what were the conversations
- 31:09Speaker 3: like after you get on first base? Any conversations or
- 31:12Speaker 3: short exchanges that are memorable to you? I always thought
- 31:15Speaker 3: that the first baseman had the best. You guys can banter.
- 31:18Speaker 3: The dude's in a good mood because they walked.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Or they got a hit.
- 31:22Speaker 3: And you got to have a good personality to be
- 31:25Speaker 3: over there, the guys that chatted up. I'd love to
- 31:27Speaker 3: hear a good– you got a good story about one
- 31:29Speaker 3: of your favorites that comes to mind?
- 31:34Speaker 2: I'll tell one. I'll tell one.
- 31:35Speaker 3: I don't know if I've told this on the podcast.
- 31:37Speaker 3: I've told it one other time. It may have been on–
- 31:41Speaker 3: on a reunion, but I was catching Joe West is
- 31:45Speaker 3: the umpire and Vernon Wells was, uh, hitting and he
- 31:50Speaker 3: was with the Yankees and I was with Boston and
- 31:53Speaker 3: we threw a cutter in, uh, Noah's Lester.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:56Speaker 3: Yeah. In Boston to a cutter in for first pitch.
- 31:59Speaker 3: And he like did like a little check.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Swing and for a strike. And he goes, my mind
- 32:05Speaker 2: was telling me no. I was like, but my body,
- 32:07Speaker 2: my body.
- 32:09Speaker 3: And he goes, yeah, baby, I don't want to. And
- 32:12Speaker 3: he started singing back to me. It was like back
- 32:14Speaker 3: and forth. It was fucking hilarious. And Joe West called
- 32:17Speaker 3: time and started sweeping the plate. He was like, what
- 32:20Speaker 3: are you guys doing? What is going on?
- 32:22Speaker 2: I'm surprised he didn't join in. He's a country singer.
- 32:26Speaker 2: It was my favorite. It was my favorite. Little R. Kelly.
- 32:29Speaker 2: A little R. Kelly for you.
- 32:30Speaker 3: Yeah, that was one of the funnier moments of some
- 32:33Speaker 3: banter when I was catching.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Man, I feel like when I was younger, it just
- 32:40Speaker 1: depended on the night before. There'd be a few times
- 32:44Speaker 1: where you'd be out with some of the other guys
- 32:47Speaker 1: from the other team, and they would get on. They'd
- 32:49Speaker 1: be like, yep, that's how it goes. Get a base
- 32:52Speaker 1: hit after a night out, you know? And then I
- 32:55Speaker 1: always loved talking to Votto. I loved always talking to Freddie.
- 32:59Speaker 1: But it was always just nice swing.
- 33:01Speaker 2: How you doing? How's your family?
- 33:02Speaker 1: If you knew someone better, you'd mess around with them.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Like when Dexter was with the Cardinals, he'd always be
- 33:08Speaker 1: untucking my shirt. I'd be taking his batting gloves off.
- 33:11Speaker 1: I'd like untie his shoes, things like that. And then
- 33:15Speaker 1: we'd just catch up real quick. We didn't see each
- 33:16Speaker 1: other before the game. And then you just got to
- 33:19Speaker 1: lock in for every pitch. So it's not anything crazy,
- 33:22Speaker 1: but yeah, it's my, my big thing is if guys
- 33:25Speaker 1: ever got a base hit and maybe the odd jammed or,
- 33:28Speaker 1: They didn't like the way the bass hit was and
- 33:30Speaker 1: they were kind of complaining about it. I would always
- 33:33Speaker 1: look at them like, bro, you just got a hit
- 33:34Speaker 1: in the show. Like, you know how hard that is?
- 33:37Speaker 1: Do you understand how hard that is, right?
- 33:39Speaker 2: And they're like, yeah, you're right. I'm like, yeah, so
- 33:41Speaker 2: shut the fuck up. That's good. All right. All right.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Thank you everyone for watching, listening. Please subscribe.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Send this to your friends, grandmas, grandpas, wives, kids.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Send it.
- 33:56Speaker 1: We want the feedback. Ross and Rizzo at gmail.com. Game
- 34:01Speaker 1: five of the championship series, Guardians Rays, tomorrow in Cleveland,
- 34:07Speaker 1: in the land, Rossi. Big game before they head back.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Believe land. Believe land.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Before they head back to the trop. So I think
- 34:16Speaker 1: whoever wins tomorrow, Rossi, wins this series. I know the
- 34:21Speaker 1: momentum could switch when you make these new predictions every day,
- 34:23Speaker 1: but I think whoever wins tomorrow is going to.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Take this series. I like it. I like it. All right.
- 34:29Speaker 2: We'll see you guys tomorrow. Oh, by the way, how
- 34:32Speaker 2: about the Auburn Tigers, Rossi? Let's go.
- 34:34Speaker 3: What?
- 34:35Speaker 2: Let's go. Are you kidding me? War Eagle.
- 34:38Speaker 3: It made my day the fact that you were paying
- 34:40Speaker 3: attention to that game and you thought of me when
- 34:42Speaker 3: Auburn won.
- 34:42Speaker 2: That was like I was freaking jacked. I was in
- 34:45Speaker 2: here going nuts. FSU, on the other hand, had a
- 34:47Speaker 2: tough road in Miami. The Canes. I saw it was
- 34:51Speaker 2: 21-21 in the third. Overtime. Overtime.
- 34:54Speaker 3: FSU kicked themselves in the foot down the stretch. Then
- 34:57Speaker 3: there was, like, a catch, and they had to throw this, like,
- 34:59Speaker 3: Hail Mary. The guy caught it.
- 35:01Speaker 2: And there's, like, I.
- 35:01Speaker 3: Guess 50-50 possession goes to the offensive player, and it
- 35:05Speaker 3: looked like he did. I don't know if we're getting
- 35:08Speaker 3: in the football space, but maybe we'll get a blast
- 35:10Speaker 3: for this. But I thought he had it. I think
- 35:12Speaker 3: it was 50-50. Send your comments on that shit, too.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Let's go. Florida State. Florida State. Florida State. Woo! How
- 35:19Speaker 2: about Ohio State? Did you see that game? And Florida
- 35:21Speaker 2: beat Texas? Another alumni spot. I've been everywhere. Multiple teams,
- 35:26Speaker 2: multiple colleges. I didn't move in high school.
- 35:30Speaker 1: This is the greatest time of the year. College football, NFL,
- 35:34Speaker 1: October baseball. Did you see Ohio State? Guardians fans, I
- 35:37Speaker 1: know you guys have to have some ties to Columbus.
- 35:42Speaker 1: The last play of the game. The Indiana receiver was
- 35:46Speaker 1: pretty much wide open in the end zone and overran
- 35:50Speaker 1: and stepped out of bounds.
- 35:51Speaker 2: Before he caught the ball. I saw that. I saw that.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Ohio State won on a miracle. Their quarterbacks hurt. If
- 36:01Speaker 2: saying is hurt the long term, that's a tough loss
- 36:05Speaker 2: for Ohio State. Five of the top eight lost their
- 36:08Speaker 2: first game, and Miami almost.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Bro, but this is the first time ever that, A
- 36:15Speaker 1: new number one seed lost after one seed lost. So
- 36:18Speaker 1: back-to-back weeks, the number one team in the nation lost.
- 36:21Speaker 2: That's pretty wild. That is wild. I love college football. Yeah,
- 36:25Speaker 2: love it.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Anyways, we are back tomorrow coming to you for Game 5.
- 36:30Speaker 1: All the reactions cannot wait. Rossi Rizzo out.
- 36:35Speaker 2: War Eagle, baby!
