- 0:37all day, and you can see the beautiful
- 0:39surroundings here.
- 0:41If you look directly behind me there, you're
- 0:44actually going to see a couple buildings.
- 0:46First in the very near, you're going to
- 0:50see like some awnings, and those awnings, kind
- 0:54of like those little, I guess maroon-red
- 0:56kind of awnings, that's all part of the
- 0:59energy plant where they make their own energy.
- 1:01Now just behind that, if you can look,
- 1:04you'll see Carparthium, that's where I park, and
- 1:06over if you guys can see a little
- 1:08bit further on my left, over here, that's
- 1:11actually going to be one of the complexes
- 1:16where students live.
- 1:18So it's kind of like off-campus, mostly
- 1:20higher-classmen leave there, like juniors, seniors, etc.
- 1:25So it's great to have you here with

- 2:35So definitely do that a little bit later.
- 2:39Without any further ado, guys, let's get into
- 2:40the show for today.
- 2:42So don't let hard times change who you
- 2:44are.
- 2:45Series five, show 44, episode number six.
- 2:48That means we only have one more episode.
- 2:50That's tomorrow for the week of the MasterTopic,
- 2:52because we go Saturday through basically go Saturday
- 2:55through Friday.
- 2:57Welcome everyone once again to the ever popular
- 2:59inspirations for your life show.
- 3:02Have you ever faced a situation so difficult
- 3:05that, well, you barely recognize how you were
- 3:10responding?
- 3:11Maybe frustration made you impatient, disappointing, actually took
- 3:17you by surprise and shook your confidence.
- 3:19Or fear tempted you to abandon something you
- 3:24truly believed in your heart.
- 3:26So here's something important.
- 3:27Hard times don't have to turn into someone
- 3:30you're not.
- 3:31Today, exploring 30 powerful ways to stay resilient,
- 3:35protect your character, and keep moving forward without
- 3:38pretending life is always easy.
- 3:40Hey, everyone.
- 3:40I'm John C.
- 3:41Morley, serial entrepreneur.
- 3:42I'm an engineer.
- 3:43I'm a marketing specialist.
- 3:44I'm a video producer, podcast host, coach, professional
- 3:46keynote speaker, a graduate student at Montclair State
- 3:50University, a passionate lifelong learner.
- 3:52And now I'm so grateful to be a
- 3:54published author.
- 3:55Yes.
- 3:56Welcome everyone to series five, show 44, episode
- 4:00number six.
- 4:00So let's discover together how to remain strong
- 4:03without losing ourselves.
- 4:05So let's start right off with point number
- 4:06one.
- 4:07Number one is recognize when circumstances challenge your
- 4:09values because they're going to.
- 4:12It's easy to stand by your principles when
- 4:14everything is going well.
- 4:15Sure it is.
- 4:16But what happens when life becomes unfair?
- 4:18Your character is tested when doing the right
- 4:22thing becomes inconvenient at the moment.
- 4:24Okay?
- 4:24Don't let temporary pressure rewrite what you believe.
- 4:27So I'll give you an example.
- 4:28I was at an event the other night
- 4:29and it was an interesting event.
- 4:32It was some nice people, but I was
- 4:34talking to somebody who was in the middle
- 4:35of a conversation with someone.
- 4:37Okay.
- 4:38Literally, you know, we were talking and just
- 4:40getting to know each other.
- 4:41And out of the blue, this gentleman, I
- 4:43say gentleman, but really he wasn't a gentleman.
- 4:45He pulls him away.
- 4:47He says, excuse me, I got to grab
- 4:48him for a minute.
- 4:49We're in the middle of a conversation.
- 4:51Not like, hey, when you're finished, I need
- 4:53to grab him.
- 4:54It was very rude.
- 4:55Oh, I got to introduce you to a
- 4:57judge who really cares that you had introduced
- 4:59him to a judge.
- 4:59Right.
- 5:00You know, that was very rude behavior, but
- 5:02I didn't let that, um, let's say cement
- 5:06the evening.
- 5:07I said, okay, that's the way they want
- 5:08to be.
- 5:09I'm going to walk around, find somebody else.
- 5:10And I did.
- 5:11You know what I did?
- 5:11I talked to some of the people about
- 5:13my book and somebody actually bought my book
- 5:15and I autographed it and they are very
- 5:16happy.
- 5:17So just letting you know that you can
- 5:19make lemons, um, that you have and turn
- 5:24them into lemonade.
- 5:24So stop making permanent decisions from temporary frustration.
- 5:28It happens a lot.
- 5:29Have you ever wanted to quit something during
- 5:31a terrible day?
- 5:32We all have at one point in time,
- 5:34strong emotions can make temporary problems feel permanent.
- 5:37Give yourself time to think before making decisions
- 5:39that could affect your future.
- 5:42Number three, resilience doesn't mean pretending nothing hurts
- 5:47because that would be a lie.
- 5:48Being resilient doesn't mean walking around with a
- 5:52fake smile.
- 5:53Disappointment, sadness, and frustration are all real experiences
- 5:56and we shouldn't try to stuff them under
- 5:57a rug.
- 5:59Acknowledge what you're feeling at the moment while
- 6:03deciding how to move forward constructively.
- 6:05Right.
- 6:07I could have said, gee, this was nasty.
- 6:08He did this.
- 6:09And I could have let my whole evening
- 6:10go down.
- 6:11I'm like, no, this is the way this
- 6:12guy wants to be.
- 6:12No problem.
- 6:13I'm just going to move away and deal
- 6:15with people that are more in my energy
- 6:16pattern.
- 6:17So number four, guys, recognize when stress changes
- 6:21how you treat people.
- 6:22I've seen this an awful lot.
- 6:24Have you ever snapped at someone who didn't
- 6:27deserve it?
- 6:28Stress can spill into our conversations.
- 6:31Pay attention to your tone.
- 6:33Apologize when necessary.
- 6:35And remember that other people shouldn't become targets
- 6:39for your frustration.
- 6:40Right.
- 6:42I'll give a perfect example.
- 6:43So I had a relative of mine pass
- 6:45away a few weeks ago.
- 6:47And it was frustrating, but I didn't take
- 6:49it out on other people.
- 6:51OK.
- 6:52A couple of things went by the wayside.
- 6:55I even sent an email the other day
- 6:56apologizing for something.
- 6:59And it's all taken care of now.
- 7:00And they said, oh, I'm very sorry for
- 7:02your loss or condolences.
- 7:04I said, thank you so much for your
- 7:05kindness and your condolences.
- 7:09I greatly appreciate it.
- 7:09And they sent me a smile back.
- 7:11So it's how you respond to things.
- 7:13Number five, a setback doesn't erase your efforts.
- 7:16Nope.
- 7:18Imagine working toward a goal and suddenly encountering
- 7:22a major obstacle.
- 7:23Does that mean everything was wasted?
- 7:25Nope.
- 7:26Absolutely not.
- 7:27Experience, knowledge, and personal growth don't disappear because
- 7:32one outcome suddenly just vanished.
- 7:34A lot of people think, oh, my gosh,
- 7:36I lost that.
- 7:37OK, I lost that person, or I lost
- 7:39an opportunity.
- 7:40So what?
- 7:41Go find another opportunity, right?
- 7:43Number six, acknowledge disappointment without surrendering.
- 7:47Oh, this is a real tough one.
- 7:49You can be disappointed and still believe in
- 7:51your direction.
- 7:52Give yourself permission to recognize what didn't work.
- 7:55Then ask, what can you learn?
- 7:58And what constructive next steps can I take?
- 8:01What action can I take?
- 8:02We all have good thoughts, right?
- 8:04And I teach and preach about thoughts every
- 8:05day.
- 8:06But thoughts don't move the needle.
- 8:08Thoughts don't get us successful.
- 8:10Thoughts are the primer, OK, that get things
- 8:15started.
- 8:15I'll give you an example.
- 8:16If you ever think of like a pump
- 8:17for a pool, in order to get the
- 8:19main water flowing, you have to put a
- 8:22little bit of water in there, right?
- 8:23So the pump can be primed.
- 8:25That's what the thoughts do.
- 8:27But if you don't take the action, if
- 8:29you don't put the extra water, which is
- 8:30what the action is, the pump stops.
- 8:32It goes dry.
- 8:33So if I have the intention, I have
- 8:35the thought, that's priming the pump, getting it
- 8:38running, OK?
- 8:39Now I need to take action so it
- 8:40keeps going.
- 8:41Number seven, guys.
- 8:43Maintain perspective during uncertainty.
- 8:45I know this is hard.
- 8:46When you're overwhelmed, one problem can seem bigger
- 8:50than your entire life.
- 8:52Ask yourself whether this situation will matter the
- 8:55same way a year from now.
- 8:57Perspective doesn't erase difficulties, but it helps us
- 9:01learn how to respond wisely.
- 9:02And I think that's the most important thing
- 9:04I want to share here in life, is
- 9:06we can't control how other people are going
- 9:08to respond, nor should we try.
- 9:10But when we change how we respond, guess
- 9:13what happens?
- 9:14Those people are like, huh, maybe I should
- 9:17try that, right?
- 9:19Not with everybody, but a good percentage of
- 9:21people are like that.
- 9:23Number eight, guys.
- 9:24Stop comparing your struggle to someone else's success.
- 9:28Social media shows achievements, celebrations, and exciting milestones.
- 9:35It rarely reveals every struggle behind them.
- 9:39Don't compare your difficult chapter with someone else's
- 9:43highlight reel.
- 9:44Your journey deserves its own timeline.
- 9:45So today being Thursday, it's a day in
- 9:47the life with John.
- 9:49I started doing filming in the morning.
- 9:51And how did I film?
- 9:51I filmed walking up the stairs, which is
- 9:53one of the hardest things here on campus.
- 9:56Some people call them the death stairs.
- 9:58They're not.
- 9:59But you're a little out of breath.
- 10:01And as I was filming, I was a
- 10:02little out of breath trying to keep my
- 10:04pace.
- 10:05Because going up those stairs is a lot.
- 10:08And trying to talk at the same time,
- 10:09which I normally don't do, requires a little
- 10:11bit of effort, and you do get out
- 10:12of breath.
- 10:13So I do share the stories that are
- 10:15going on in my life.
- 10:16I share the good times.
- 10:17I share the challenging times.
- 10:19Number nine, guys.
- 10:21Strength includes asking for support.
- 10:23Who said strong people must handle everything alone?
- 10:26Sometimes courage means asking for guidance, assistance, or
- 10:30even encouragement.
- 10:32Appropriate support can help you make better decisions.
- 10:35And it can even protect, guys, your well
- 10:38-being.
- 10:38That's interesting, right?
- 10:40Your well-being.
- 10:42And when you protect your own well-being,
- 10:43guess what happens?
- 10:45You start to want to protect other people's
- 10:47well-being.
- 10:49That's a very important thing.
- 10:52Number 10, recognize when you need rest.
- 10:57Have you noticed how problems or challenges just
- 11:00seem bigger when you're exhausted?
- 11:03Rest isn't an admission of defeat.
- 11:06Let's be very clear on that.
- 11:08Sometimes, stepping away, sleeping, or taking a short
- 11:13break gives you the fortitude, the clarity, to
- 11:16make a responsible decision later on.
- 11:19So don't kick yourself in the back and
- 11:22say, Oh my gosh, I took a break.
- 11:24So did a million other people.
- 11:25So did Einstein.
- 11:26So did a lot of other inventors and
- 11:28smart people.
- 11:29Number 11, stop making promises you cannot keep.
- 11:34Your attention is good, but don't burn yourself
- 11:36out.
- 11:36When life becomes stressful, it's tempting to promise
- 11:39everything just to satisfy everyone.
- 11:40You want to be a appeal pleaser.
- 11:42But really, you're just going to wind up
- 11:43disappointing people.
- 11:44And you're going to wind up disappointing yourself.
- 11:46And if you can't help yourself, you're going
- 11:48to be no good to anyone.
- 11:49But unrealistic commitments create additional pressure.
- 11:53Be honest about your capacity.
- 11:55A realistic promise is more valuable than an
- 11:57impressive one you cannot actually fill.
- 12:01Number 12, separate what you control from what
- 12:04you don't.
- 12:06You cannot control every delay, disappointment, or even
- 12:11other people's behaviors, I said.
- 12:12But you can influence your preparation, your communication,
- 12:16your response.
- 12:17And I got to tell you, 9 out
- 12:18of 10 times, it will affect somebody else's
- 12:20behavior.
- 12:21I had somebody a long time ago that
- 12:22was nasty.
- 12:23I didn't judge them.
- 12:25I just kept being kind and kind and
- 12:26kind to them for a few days.
- 12:28After a while, they changed their whole outlook.
- 12:31I'm like, Wow, is this the same person?
- 12:35I showed a little bit of kindness.
- 12:36Try it.
- 12:37It works miracles.
- 12:39Number 13, don't let fear change your principles.
- 12:42Fear can tempt you to compromise what matters.
- 12:45Before making a difficult choice, ask yourself, would
- 12:48I be proud of this decision when the
- 12:49pressure passes?
- 12:51Your values should guide you, especially when circumstances
- 12:55become uncertain.
- 12:58That takes power.
- 12:59That takes fortitude.
- 13:01That takes resilience.
- 13:05Number 14, one difficult experience doesn't define your
- 13:10future.
- 13:12One rejection doesn't mean every opportunity will disappear
- 13:15or that you'll be turned down every time.
- 13:17One failure doesn't mean you'll never succeed.
- 13:20Don't turn a painful experience into a prediction
- 13:23about your entire future.
- 13:25And I want to share something with a
- 13:26real interesting tip.
- 13:27Is that just because you appear to have
- 13:30failed, I want to let you know a
- 13:31secret.
- 13:32You haven't failed yet.
- 13:33You see, if you haven't given up yet,
- 13:35if you're still coming back to it, you
- 13:37haven't failed.
- 13:38True failure is when you've said, okay, I've
- 13:40had enough and you don't go back anymore.
- 13:42Even if you take a rest for a
- 13:44week or a month, I don't care, or
- 13:46longer.
- 13:46You haven't failed yet.
- 13:48You're recognizing something very important that many people
- 13:51don't understand and they have to learn a
- 13:53very hard way.
- 13:54The body needs rest.
- 13:56The body needs time.
- 13:57How many times have you written something?
- 13:59And then I did this with my own
- 14:00book.
- 14:01I went away from it.
- 14:01I came back and guess what?
- 14:04My block went away.
- 14:06Number 15.
- 14:08Number 15 talks about a point that I
- 14:11spend time harping on time and time again,
- 14:14but it is really the truth.
- 14:16Resilience.
- 14:17It grows to repeat effort.
- 14:18Now, resilience doesn't mean how tough you are.
- 14:22Resilience means the fact that if you get
- 14:24knocked down, you're going to keep getting back
- 14:26up.
- 14:27Resilience isn't something you magically acquire overnight, so
- 14:30don't think you will.
- 14:31It's developed through realistic actions repeated over time.
- 14:35Every constructive response helps you practice handling the
- 14:39next challenge with greater confidence.
- 14:41It's like you learn one lesson.
- 14:44You learn the next lesson.
- 14:45You can't go learn lesson 10 until you've
- 14:47learned lessons 1 through 9.
- 14:50You can't skip ahead.
- 14:52But when you master resilience, you change.
- 14:57Other people know you change.
- 14:59They're like, something's different about John.
- 15:01Something's different about Mike.
- 15:03Something's different about Sarah.
- 15:04Something's different about Megan.
- 15:07Number 16.
- 15:09Build routines that keep you grounded.
- 15:11There's a mouthful.
- 15:13When everything feels unpredictable in our world, which
- 15:16can happen, simple routines can create stability.
- 15:20Regular rest, managed planning, movement, and time for
- 15:25reflection can help you stay focused.
- 15:28Small habits often support us during our biggest
- 15:31challenges.
- 15:33And I think that's something that a lot
- 15:35of people, they forget.
- 15:37They don't realize that it's that challenge that
- 15:41is making them into a success.
- 15:43It's that challenge that's starting to mold them
- 15:46into a resilient person.
- 15:47See, the challenges help shape our character, which
- 15:51is what we do in private.
- 15:52Then, the character is what, let's say, rolls
- 15:58over.
- 15:59And what people see in public, that is
- 16:01our reputation.
- 16:02So character is what's in private.
- 16:04Reputation is what's in public.
- 16:06So what we work on privately filters through
- 16:10publicly.
- 16:12Number 17.
- 16:14Stop, stop, stop taking frustration out on others.
- 16:19There's no reason for it.
- 16:20Just because you're having a difficult day or
- 16:22moment, doesn't mean everyone around you deserves to
- 16:25experience it.
- 16:26I'm going to give you an example.
- 16:27So I was at school.
- 16:28I'm always at school, but I was at
- 16:29school.
- 16:30And there was an advisor.
- 16:31I'm not going to mention their name out
- 16:33of respect.
- 16:35And I was finishing taking a test, and
- 16:38I had a question for them.
- 16:39So I went to their office, and I
- 16:40knocked on them.
- 16:41They had like a glass, you know, window,
- 16:44and then they had a door.
- 16:45There was a student there, and they weren't
- 16:48talking.
- 16:48They were just doing something, maybe taking a
- 16:50test, whatever.
- 16:51But they weren't talking to him, so I
- 16:52just knocked on the glass very quietly, and
- 16:54I said, and they got back to me
- 16:56really nasty.
- 16:57I'm going to meet him.
- 16:58Like, who the heck are you?
- 17:01So I let that roll off my back,
- 17:03but also I say to myself, I'm not
- 17:06going to subject myself to that again.
- 17:09So if I'm around that person, I'm not
- 17:12going to confide in them.
- 17:13I'm not going to ask for advice.
- 17:14I'm not going to share something unless they
- 17:18come back and share something with me first.
- 17:20You don't need to be a friend to
- 17:23everyone, okay?
- 17:25That's Disney.
- 17:26That's the fairytale world.
- 17:28The truth is you need to be practical.
- 17:31You need a few friends.
- 17:31You don't need a million, okay?
- 17:33Number 18, communicate your needs before pressure builds.
- 17:38That's all about the concept of being proactive,
- 17:40right?
- 17:41I talk about planning for a fire.
- 17:43I hope you guys never have one, but
- 17:44you should make sure that your smoke detectors
- 17:46work.
- 17:46You should make sure you have at least
- 17:47an evacuation plan to go to different places.
- 17:50You know the general rules.
- 17:52Stop, drop, and roll.
- 17:53You feel doors before you open them.
- 17:56You have a fire extinguisher.
- 17:57You know the amount of time.
- 17:58If this doesn't work, you know when to
- 18:00call 911.
- 18:01You don't call 911 from your house.
- 18:03You leave your house and call 911.
- 18:05So many people I know will call 911
- 18:07because, oh, my gosh, you're going to call
- 18:09911.
- 18:09I was watching a documentary the other day.
- 18:12It was very interesting.
- 18:14And, unfortunately, the car had gone into the
- 18:16water.
- 18:18And, you know, you're like, oh, my gosh,
- 18:20what do I do?
- 18:20First thing that you need to do, just
- 18:22to let you know, and like a little
- 18:23tip here, is you need to roll down
- 18:25the windows before your power goes out.
- 18:27If it's gone out, you should have a
- 18:29window break, either on your key chain or
- 18:30somewhere close, not in the glove compartment, but
- 18:32somewhere like very close to the console.
- 18:34Take it, crack your window, get the water
- 18:37in, get, you know, if there are any
- 18:40miners in the car, make sure you loosen
- 18:42their belts.
- 18:43Get everybody out of the car quickly.
- 18:44Because you only have about a minute and
- 18:46a half if you're going to make it
- 18:47alive.
- 18:48I'm just being honest.
- 18:49So I thought I would share that with
- 18:50you.
- 18:50And so if you proactively think about that,
- 18:53I'm not saying I want that to happen
- 18:54to you, but now that you know what
- 18:56to do, it's a lot easier if it
- 18:59happens because you've at least planned for it.
- 19:02Hopefully you'll never need it.
- 19:04So people can't always recognize when they're overwhelmed.
- 19:07That's why they go through burnout.
- 19:08Speak up before frustration and burnout turn into
- 19:12resentment.
- 19:14A respectful conversation about what you need can
- 19:16prevent misunderstandings and unnecessary conflict.
- 19:19Do you know the number one reason people
- 19:20wind up in court?
- 19:21Misunderstandings.
- 19:22That's all it is.
- 19:24I see so many restraining orders and people
- 19:26going to court all for just a petty
- 19:28misunderstanding between an ego clash.
- 19:30Number 19.
- 19:32Know when to change your strategy.
- 19:34Just like they do in baseball, football, basketball.
- 19:37Persistence is valuable.
- 19:39But repeating something that isn't working isn't always
- 19:42wise.
- 19:43What did Einstein say?
- 19:44The definition of insanity is doing the same
- 19:45thing over and over again and expecting different
- 19:46results.
- 19:47You're not insane, but why are you doing
- 19:48the same thing over and over again?
- 19:49It's not going to give you different results.
- 19:50Sometimes the strongest decision is to adjust your
- 19:53approach.
- 19:54Like I said, we're on a live campus
- 19:55here.
- 19:55Sometimes they have little vehicles going around.
- 19:58We have an ambulance next to me.
- 19:59People might walk by me.
- 20:00Although I'm by this closed diner here, nobody's
- 20:03really going to walk behind me here, but
- 20:05you never know what's going to happen, so
- 20:06I'll just let you know that.
- 20:07Number 20.
- 20:08Patience doesn't mean accepting harm.
- 20:11Being patient doesn't require tolerating harmful behavior or
- 20:15unhealthy conditions.
- 20:16You can remain respectful while establishing boundaries and
- 20:20protecting yourself.
- 20:23Resilience includes knowing when change is necessary as
- 20:27well as how to bounce back, how to
- 20:29keep getting up.
- 20:30Number 21.
- 20:31Progress isn't always immediately visible.
- 20:34Have you ever worked hard without seeing results?
- 20:38We all have.
- 20:39Progress may be happening through learning, preparation, or
- 20:42improved judgment.
- 20:44Don't assume nothing is changing simply because the
- 20:47outcome hasn't appeared in a tangible form.
- 20:51Maybe that's a relationship.
- 20:52Maybe that's money.
- 20:53Maybe that's a skill.
- 20:55Keep at it.
- 20:56Very important.
- 20:57Number 22.
- 20:59Keep commitments within your capacity.
- 21:02What does that mean?
- 21:03Your integrity matters, especially during difficult periods of
- 21:06your life.
- 21:07Rather than promising more than you can deliver,
- 21:11set realistic expectations.
- 21:12Consistency builds trust.
- 21:14Responsible commitments protect your energy.
- 21:18That's a key, guys.
- 21:19A real key.
- 21:20Just like I shared a key about how
- 21:22to get out of an emergency if your
- 21:24car ever went under the water.
- 21:26Number 23.
- 21:28Don't let criticism erase your confidence.
- 21:31The other night when I got some criticism
- 21:33about having to pull me awake to see
- 21:37something more important, one person's criticism doesn't cancel
- 21:41everything you've accomplished.
- 21:43Consider feedback.
- 21:45Then learn from what's useful.
- 21:50Remember the growth you've already achieved.
- 21:52Throw away the hurt, the pain, the discomfort,
- 21:58and keep the lesson.
- 21:59Your confidence should be grounded in reality, not
- 22:02controlled by every opinion.
- 22:04That's what's wrong with a lot of people
- 22:05today.
- 22:06They're reacting to the opinion and the emotion.
- 22:09Oh my gosh, this is what happened last
- 22:11time.
- 22:11Don't go there.
- 22:12What did I learn?
- 22:13You touch a stove and it's hot?
- 22:15You pull your hand away, right?
- 22:16You touch a stove, you pull it back,
- 22:17right?
- 22:17You touch and you pull it right back.
- 22:20You learn.
- 22:21Don't touch something hot.
- 22:22Now you're more aware.
- 22:24Number 24.
- 22:25Recover from mistakes without constant self-blame.
- 22:27No need to blame yourself.
- 22:29Everyone makes mistakes in our life.
- 22:31I'll make more.
- 22:32You'll make more.
- 22:36And we'll keep learning.
- 22:37The important question is what happens next and
- 22:40learn from it.
- 22:42Replying with the same mistake and replying in
- 22:47your head or in person doesn't work endlessly.
- 22:52And it doesn't automatically make you wiser.
- 22:54It just makes you more frustrated.
- 22:57Number 25.
- 22:58So we have, looks like we have an
- 23:00airplane around here.
- 23:01You may not be able to see it.
- 23:02He's right there in the sky.
- 23:04That's where we get a little bit of
- 23:05noise.
- 23:06Number 25.
- 23:07Compassion matters more during the hard times.
- 23:10It's easy to be kind when life feels
- 23:14comfortable.
- 23:15But you can remain compassionate.
- 23:17When you're exhausted or you're even disappointed a
- 23:20little bit, small acts of understanding can protect
- 23:23relationships or remind you of the person you
- 23:26want to be.
- 23:27And there's a motorcycle and somebody who's got
- 23:29a muffler that probably needs to be fixed.
- 23:32Number 26.
- 23:34Stop expecting full capacity every day.
- 23:38Some days, you'll accomplish more than others.
- 23:41That's part of being human.
- 23:42Adjust your expectations when necessary without abandoning your
- 23:47full responsibilities that are aligned and linked to
- 23:49your core values.
- 23:51Sustainable effort matters more than constantly pushing beyond
- 23:55your limits.
- 23:56Number 27.
- 23:57Flexibility protects long-term goals.
- 24:00A roadblock doesn't always mean the journey is
- 24:02over, it's ended.
- 24:04Sometimes you need a different route.
- 24:05You need a different vehicle, a different method.
- 24:07A revised timeline or another method because staying
- 24:10committed to your purpose while remaining flexible allows
- 24:14you to analyze it, change, and then be
- 24:17able to reach it.
- 24:18Number 28.
- 24:20Identify what is testing you right now.
- 24:22Things are, and that's what's helping you learn.
- 24:25Let's make this personal, guys.
- 24:26What situation is currently testing your patience right
- 24:29now?
- 24:29Confidence or even your integrity?
- 24:31Name the challenge clearly.
- 24:33Understand what you're facing is just the first
- 24:36step toward choosing a constructive response and that'll
- 24:39help you learn and that'll help you eventually
- 24:41reach your goal.
- 24:42Number 29.
- 24:43Choose a response that reflects your values.
- 24:45Now ask yourself this question.
- 24:47What action would reflect your values?
- 24:54Maybe having a difficult conversation, taking a break,
- 24:56setting a boundary, or continuing a manageable step
- 24:58at a time.
- 24:59Choose that thought for the action intentionally.
- 25:03And number 30.
- 25:04Stay resilient without losing your integrity.
- 25:07Here's what I want you to remember today.
- 25:10Resilience isn't about refusing to change.
- 25:12It's about adapting your approach while protecting your
- 25:16principles.
- 25:17Hard times may challenge your plans, but they
- 25:19don't have to change your character.
- 25:22What do they always say?
- 25:23Tough times will pass, but tough people never
- 25:27do.
- 25:29The tough times will go away, but the
- 25:31tough people will stand through the storm.
- 25:34So the closing challenge for this Thursday.
- 25:40Identify one difficult situation you're facing.
- 25:43Then choose one constructive action that protects your
- 25:46values while respecting your current limits.
- 25:49You don't need to solve everything today.
- 25:51No read for that.
- 25:52You need to make your responsible choices now.
- 25:57Remember, difficult circumstances may test your patience, confidence,
- 26:01and determination, but they don't get to decide
- 26:05who you become.
- 26:08Stay resilient, stay compassionate, and keep your integrity
- 26:12intact.
- 26:12I think that's the most important thing.
- 26:14And I forgot before we started the show
- 26:15today, today's Thursday, I want to give you
- 26:17a referral to J.D.'s in Oakland, New
- 26:22Jersey.
