Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Well, he's sauntered his way into the studio, Bill Frost.
- 0:06Speaker 2: You do sort of saunter.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Yeah. That's what I would call it.
- 0:10Speaker 2: You're a saunterer.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Yes, I am.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Bill is also a writer. You can find his writings
- 0:14Speaker 1: at cityweekly.net. He's a podcaster. The podcast is TV Tan.
- 0:21Speaker 1: And he's a musician. Magda Vega is the band. Bill shreds. Yes.
- 0:27Speaker 2: With Magna Vega.
- 0:28Speaker 3: All your documents, bring them to me.
- 0:31Speaker 1: So you can find everything Frost related at what?
- 0:35Speaker 3: At BillFrost.TV.
- 0:37Speaker 2: That's correct.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Yeah. We have kind of a start to the fall
- 0:41Speaker 3: TV season. That's the first official broadcast new show of
- 0:45Speaker 3: the season premiering tonight on NBC, Line of Fire.
- 0:51Speaker 4: I don't know this.
- 0:51Speaker 3: That's because it's brand new. Oh, I saw something about this. Yeah,
- 0:55Speaker 3: Peter Krause. Krause. Krause. From 9-1-1. He stars, he's the
- 1:02Speaker 3: head of a family of law enforcement agents who work
- 1:04Speaker 3: for the FBI, U.S. Marshals, Secret Service, Department of Justice.
- 1:08Speaker 3: This sounds very CBS-ed.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Your grandma will love it. This sounds like blue bloods
- 1:13Speaker 3: all over again. And, you know, they all... work in
- 1:17Speaker 3: law enforcement and they have family dinners where they can't
- 1:20Speaker 3: talk about that, but you know, they will.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Of course they will.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Yeah. So, uh, that's on tonight. Uh, it's not an
- 1:27Speaker 3: auspicious start to the fall TV broadcast.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Let's all not be there.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Uh, and on NBC tomorrow, uh, doc with Molly Parker
- 1:37Speaker 3: is back tomorrow on Fox. It's we're now on season
- 1:40Speaker 3: three of a show that apparently somebody watches because, um.
- 1:45Speaker 2: I like Molly Parker.
- 1:46Speaker 3: I know. She's good in this. She's pretty much the
- 1:48Speaker 3: only reason to watch. It's one of those kind of
- 1:50Speaker 3: Fox dramas that just kind of slides by for years.
- 1:53Speaker 3: That's still on?
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:56Speaker 3: But it's one of the few things on Fox that
- 1:58Speaker 3: isn't a game show or a reality show this season.
- 2:01Speaker 3: There's an actual script involved. Help Molly out with her
- 2:06Speaker 3: show there. And also Best Medicine premiered yesterday. for its
- 2:13Speaker 3: second season, moves into its regular Tuesday night time slot
- 2:16Speaker 3: tomorrow on Fox, right after. So two medical dramas back-to-back
- 2:22Speaker 3: on Fox.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Who's in the best medicine?
- 2:23Speaker 3: That is....
- 2:26Speaker 2: Zachary Kinto, is it?
- 2:28Speaker 3: No, no, no. Is that Josh Charles? Josh Charles, yes.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Josh Charles.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Josh Charles is a big city doctor in a small
- 2:35Speaker 3: quirky town.
- 2:36Speaker 2: And isn't he afraid of blood?
- 2:38Speaker 3: Yes, he is. He's afraid of blood. It's actually a
- 2:41Speaker 3: pretty funny show. Okay. Mrs. Frost has been watching it,
- 2:44Speaker 3: and I'm just like, oh, maybe I should have given
- 2:46Speaker 3: that show a second chance.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:48Speaker 3: It's not bad. On Wednesday, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson
- 2:54Speaker 3: are brothers. Boy, bros.
- 2:57Speaker 2: They're not brothers. They're bros.
- 2:59Speaker 3: They're bros.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 3: This is sort of like it's them. It's them playing themselves,
- 3:05Speaker 3: a version of themselves, and this comes from a story
- 3:08Speaker 3: like years ago that came up on a talk show,
- 3:10Speaker 3: I think, where they might be be related somehow. So
- 3:13Speaker 3: they decided, oh, we're brothers. We're going to run with
- 3:16Speaker 3: this thing and make it a TV show.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I mean, no, Woody Harrelson knows who his dad is
- 3:21Speaker 1: because wasn't his dad in prison?
- 3:24Speaker 3: He murdered somebody. Which sounds on brand for Woody Harrelson, really.
- 3:28Speaker 2: For murder.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Yeah. And yeah, so there's that. That's on Apple TV
- 3:33Speaker 3: starting on Wednesday. And also season 51 of Survivor.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Oh, it starts this week?
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yep.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Okay.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Are you going to be there?
- 3:41Speaker 2: I usually am.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Are you going to Fiji?
- 3:43Speaker 2: I guess so.
- 3:45Speaker 3: We're back in Fiji again. I think that's just where
- 3:47Speaker 3: we go.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Now, Fiji. I think they bought a series of islands.
- 3:50Speaker 2: That's what I heard, yeah. And then they found it
- 3:53Speaker 2: was cheaper to do it.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Cheaper than renting, for sure. On Thursday, American Horror Story
- 3:59Speaker 3: Season 13.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Now, ordinarily I wouldn't be interested, but they're bringing everybody back.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Almost everybody, yeah.
- 4:07Speaker 2: So Zachary Quinto.
- 4:09Speaker 3: I didn't see his name amongst them.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I didn't see his name, but the clown is there. Yeah, yeah. Twisty. Twisty, yeah.
- 4:15Speaker 3: I don't know. I like Twitchy better.
- 4:16Speaker 2: What's his name? What's the guy's name? He's got three names.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Damn it. I don't remember.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:21Speaker 3: John Carroll Lynch. Would that be him? That's him. That's him. Okay. Yeah.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Returning this season is kind of sort of like a
- 4:28Speaker 3: greatest hits package. It looks like they're referencing all of
- 4:31Speaker 3: the seasons.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Coming back are Jessica Lange. Mm-hmm. Sarah Paulson, of course,
- 4:38Speaker 3: Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Emma Roberts, Leslie Grossman,
- 4:42Speaker 3: Billy Lord, Gabourey Sibadé, the aforementioned John Carroll Lynch, and
- 4:46Speaker 3: Mina Suvari, joined by newcomers Tig Notaro. Oh, really? And
- 4:51Speaker 3: John Waters.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Maybe I'll watch this just because it sounds like a
- 4:55Speaker 2: train wreck.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Like I said, ordinarily I wouldn't have even cared, but
- 5:00Speaker 1: when I saw the lineup and.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Everything, I went, okay, all right, maybe.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Yeah, the season's just called Thirteens, premieres Thursday on FX
- 5:07Speaker 3: and next day on Hulu. And yeah, also A Different
- 5:12Speaker 3: World is back from the 90s.
- 5:15Speaker 1: That was a spinoff from the Cosby show, right?
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yes, it was, yeah. We're trying to forget about that
- 5:20Speaker 3: part of it, but yeah. It's on Netflix, it's a reboot,
- 5:23Speaker 3: it's a no-laugh track dramedy.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Dramedy.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Dramedy, yeah.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Any of the old.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Jasmine Guy. That's what I was wondering, yeah. And Kadeem Hardison. Yeah.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Have a kid now going to Hillman College. Okay. That's
- 5:38Speaker 3: kind of the natural progression there.
- 5:40Speaker 2: But the show started with, what's her name?
- 5:44Speaker 4: Lisa Bonet.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Lisa Bonet.
- 5:46Speaker 2: But she's not in there.
- 5:47Speaker 3: She's not here now. She didn't go the whole run
- 5:50Speaker 3: of the show.
- 5:50Speaker 2: No, one season, I think.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Yeah, so if you've been missing a different world.
- 5:56Speaker 4: There are some people that will be nostalgic for that.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I read something about it over the weekend. I don't
- 6:02Speaker 1: know why I started reading it, but it said that
- 6:05Speaker 1: the first season almost didn't make it through, and then
- 6:10Speaker 1: Debbie Allen came on board and took over the show,
- 6:13Speaker 1: and it got really good and popular, apparently.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Lasted a few years, yeah. Coming up on Friday on Tubi.
- 6:21Speaker 3: It's free, so don't judge this too harshly. Movie called Buzzkill.
- 6:27Speaker 3: There's a masked killer terrorizing a group of sorority girls.
- 6:32Speaker 3: And we don't know who it is, but one girl, Nora,
- 6:36Speaker 3: saw a murder happen drunk, so therefore she has to
- 6:38Speaker 3: stay drunk through the entire night to identify the killer.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Oh, I get it.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Yeah. That's... That's a solid concept. Yeah, I like it.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I love it.
- 6:49Speaker 3: And again, you're going to get every penny's worth of
- 6:51Speaker 3: your Tubi subscription from this.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Also co-starring this are Brick Messenger from Stargirl. She finally
- 6:59Speaker 3: got a job. Good. Yeah, she's been doing other stuff.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Also on the shows you probably didn't know was gone
- 7:06Speaker 3: and maybe you want back, SWAT, Shamar Moore, good-looking Shamar Moore.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Yeah, he's good-looking.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Now it's SWAT Exiles. They're pulling him out
- 7:17Speaker 3: of retirement to manage a group of misfit agents.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Of course they are.
- 7:22Speaker 4: I'm not doing anything.
- 7:23Speaker 2: They're pulling me back in.
- 7:26Speaker 3: You're all weirdos and losers, and I'm going to whip
- 7:29Speaker 3: you into shape. But this is on Starz. So I
- 7:35Speaker 3: don't know how well your CBS procedural drama is going
- 7:39Speaker 3: to do on Starz when you've got to pay for it.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Don't know.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:44Speaker 3: But at least it's not another Spartacus reboot. So you
- 7:48Speaker 3: got that going for you. Also, Back Rooms premieres on
- 7:52Speaker 3: HBO Max if you've been waiting.
- 7:53Speaker 4: I've been curious about it.
- 7:56Speaker 3: On Friday.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Not curious enough to go to the movie.
- 7:59Speaker 2: So I went to the theater and saw it.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:03Speaker 2: It's really good.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 8:06Speaker 1: It's very odd. Very weird, yes. And it gets weirder
- 8:10Speaker 1: and weirder. But what's his name?
- 8:13Speaker 2: The actor.
- 8:15Speaker 3: He's excellent. Yeah. So you can watch it in the
- 8:19Speaker 3: comfort of your home without paying extra for it on
- 8:22Speaker 3: Friday on HBO and HBO Max. Saturday Night Live is
- 8:25Speaker 3: back this week. Season 52. And curb your enthusiasm because
- 8:31Speaker 3: New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson is the host.
- 8:34Speaker 3: You know what?
- 8:35Speaker 4: I heard Amy Poehler the other day talking about her
- 8:38Speaker 4: favorite guest hosts. And she said she loves it when
- 8:42Speaker 4: an athlete.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Sports guys. They're often quite good.
- 8:45Speaker 4: And she said, do you know why I like them?
- 8:48Speaker 4: They want to be coached. tell me what she said
- 8:54Speaker 4: so often you have actors on and they think they
- 8:56Speaker 4: know everything and they don't want to they don't want
- 8:58Speaker 4: to listen to which but when the athletes are on
- 9:00Speaker 4: they're like tell me exactly what to do and i
- 9:03Speaker 4: will do.
- 9:03Speaker 3: I thought that was interesting okay oh yeah yep so
- 9:06Speaker 3: uh also a musical guest cat's eye they're a they're
- 9:09Speaker 3: a girl pop group okay and uh chloe fineman is
- 9:13Speaker 3: gone yeah so uh As soon as Saturday Night arrives,
- 9:18Speaker 3: be sure all you boomers and Gen Xers get to
- 9:21Speaker 3: Reddit and start complaining about how you hate Saturday Night Live.
- 9:25Speaker 3: And it used to be good, and it's not good anymore.
- 9:27Speaker 3: You watched the whole season 52 premiere, and you hated it,
- 9:30Speaker 3: and you're going to come back next week to tell
- 9:32Speaker 3: us how terrible it is. Yeah, exactly. Sunday, your cartoons
- 9:37Speaker 3: are back on Fox. Grimsburg, my personal favorite. I don't
- 9:41Speaker 3: know why. It's not good.
- 9:42Speaker 2: It's not good. I don't know it at all.
- 9:45Speaker 3: It's John Hamm is the voice of a detective in
- 9:49Speaker 3: a small town where murders happen quite frequently.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Based on a podcast. I read that, right?
- 9:55Speaker 3: That I don't know.
- 9:56Speaker 2: It was based on a podcast.
- 9:57Speaker 3: It's just weird. It's right on the line between... Fox
- 10:00Speaker 3: Weird and Adult Swim Weird, where I like it. But yeah,
- 10:04Speaker 3: it's not good.
- 10:04Speaker 2: It's not good.
- 10:06Speaker 3: But it's kind of funny. Joined by The Simpsons, Season 38,
- 10:12Speaker 3: Universal Basic Guys, which is also very not good. Not good.
- 10:16Speaker 3: And Animal Control. So we've got a live action show
- 10:19Speaker 3: in the mix there.
- 10:19Speaker 2: I'm the only one watching that show. I'm the other one.
- 10:22Speaker 2: That's Joel McHale.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Joel McHale. And a great cast.
- 10:28Speaker 2: It's a funny show.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Yeah, there was nowhere else to put it, but on
- 10:32Speaker 3: Sunday night with the cartoons, this has happened before with
- 10:34Speaker 3: The Last Man on Earth, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Arrested Development, but
- 10:39Speaker 3: it also happened with Mulaney and a few other shows
- 10:41Speaker 3: that have already been forgotten, very much forgotten. And also, yeah,
- 10:49Speaker 3: while you're complaining on Reddit, you can complain about this,
- 10:51Speaker 3: the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.
- 10:55Speaker 4: What?
- 10:56Speaker 2: Why do they... They don't show videos.
- 10:58Speaker 3: No, but they're still being made.
- 11:00Speaker 2: All right.
- 11:03Speaker 3: And it's going to be on CBS MTV and Paramount +.
- 11:07Speaker 3: No one will watch this.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Who's hosting it?
- 11:10Speaker 3: You know, I don't know.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I read somewhere. Now I can't remember. My interest.
- 11:15Speaker 3: dropped right after I listed it. I didn't... I did
- 11:18Speaker 3: not bother to look up the host.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Snoop Dogg.
- 11:22Speaker 3: What? Really? Okay. Snoop. Okay, then.
- 11:26Speaker 1: All right.
- 11:26Speaker 3: All right. And that is your week there. And Lanterns.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Pretty good.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Better every week.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Every week.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 2: And it gets more popular every week.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I know, yeah.
- 11:37Speaker 1: The streams continue to go up. And I finally watched
- 11:40Speaker 1: the whole first season of Dark Matter.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 11:43Speaker 3: It's... Can you follow it?
- 11:47Speaker 1: It's hard to at first, but then it starts clicking
- 11:50Speaker 1: in and making sense almost. Yeah. But there's still like...
- 11:54Speaker 1: I just watched the last episode of the first season.
- 11:56Speaker 1: There's still like all these loose ends.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Second season has already started.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:01Speaker 2: And I'll go to that.
- 12:02Speaker 3: It's all about alternate realities and I'm here, but my
- 12:07Speaker 3: wife is different here and things are different here and
- 12:09Speaker 3: you got to keep track of all.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Joel Edgerton is great.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Playing... Several different roles.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah. And then his wife.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Jennifer Connelly.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Jennifer Connelly.
- 12:19Speaker 3: In one reality.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Who has gotten so thin, I can't. She turns sideways
- 12:24Speaker 1: and you don't see her.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Yep.
- 12:26Speaker 2: And then Alice Braga is great.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Yeah. So, poor guy. He's got to choose between Alicia
- 12:35Speaker 3: Braga and Jennifer Connelly.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Rough.
- 12:38Speaker 4: It's rough.
- 12:39Speaker 2: It's rough when you're a physicist.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Yeah. All right.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Bill Frost, BillFrost.TV. Thank you, Bill.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
