- 0:33Hello, and welcome to another installment of the drive thru.
- 0:36This is Brad, your host.
- 0:38With me as always is Eric.
- 0:40Hello!
- 0:41And we've got Tanya as well.
- 0:43Hi!
- 0:43As you may know, the drive thru is our monthly recap where we've
- 0:46put together a menu of local, racing, and random car jason news.
- 0:50So now, I think it's time to switch to our fan favorite section of the drive thru.
- 0:57A section we call...
- 0:59Would you like some fries with that?
- 1:01Well, we've scoured the world looking for the best in car adjacent news.
- 1:06So what's first?
- 1:07Probably the best, but it's always interesting.
- 1:14I think it should be called Florida Man.
- 1:17That's what we originally called it.
- 1:19I think it should stay, the next section is Florida Man.
- 1:23Well, there's a quote that goes with it.
- 1:24That's what the next line is.
- 1:25So I'm going to use Tanya's thing and then go ahead.
- 1:28Because every, every good story seems to start with a Florida Man.
- 1:33So I'm going to start with a Florida Man.
- 1:37Sets his car on fire, driving with a candle.
- 1:41I really like this story.
- 1:43Now, before I break it down, I wanted to say nobody was hurt, thankfully.
- 1:47Um, I think the only injury was obviously to this man's vehicle,
- 1:52and his pride and ego, and whatever else goes along with that, but.
- 1:56Can I ask you a question before you dive into this?
- 1:58It's a Chevy Malibu, so who really cares?
- 2:01It's not much of a loss.
- 2:02No, no, no.
- 2:02I wonder, because he's driving with a candle.
- 2:05And you guys are going to hear about this on a later episode.
- 2:08Was he trying to recreate the ambiance of the night scene in Gone in 60 Seconds?
- 2:19I think he, I think he was on a date.
- 2:22Well, let's break it down here and let's see what we think
- 2:25when we get to the end of this.
- 2:26Okay.
- 2:26Who is this Florida man?
- 2:29I don't, I don't remember.
- 2:30I'm going to leave the nameless nameless.
- 2:32Okay.
- 2:33See if I can get this with a straight face.
- 2:35So a man was driving with a scented candle in his car.
- 2:40At this point, okay, I'm more interested in why it's a scented
- 2:45candle than just a candle.
- 2:46What is the scent?
- 2:47What's the flavor?
- 2:48What flavor candle is that?
- 2:49Black ice, like you get at Track Auto.
- 2:53See, I wanna know how bad does this guy's car smell that a pine
- 2:59cone air freshener from the corner gas station wasn't enough, okay?
- 3:04He needed a scented candle, okay?
- 3:07Candle tips over, ignites some paperwork.
- 3:11Probably divorce papers.
- 3:15Who manufactured this candle that it tipped over, didn't snuff itself
- 3:20out, and then ignited paperwork?
- 3:22Yankee Candle.
- 3:23Probably, it makes some good candles.
- 3:25Also, where was this candle that you didn't see it fall over?
- 3:30Subsequently, ignite paperwork that you couldn't put the fire out very quickly.
- 3:35It was in the back seat for safety.
- 3:38Also, was there accelerant on this paper?
- 3:40Because, I don't know how it lit this quickly.
- 3:44We read Fahrenheit 451, the temperature at which a book burns.
- 3:49Now, the man pulls over, grabs a trash can, goes in search of water.
- 3:57At the risk of minor burns, why would you not grab the paperwork?
- 4:03Chuck it out the car, or I don't know, grab the floor mat, start
- 4:07beating the flames to put it out?
- 4:09Like, at what point?
- 4:11Do you decide that?
- 4:13There's a trash can, now let me go find water.
- 4:16Well, that's what you need the candle for, because you keep
- 4:18putting trash water in your car.
- 4:21So, he presumably returns, I don't know with water or not, in this trash
- 4:26can, but the car is engulfed in flames.
- 4:29He returned with marshmallows.
- 4:32Maybe.
- 4:34Again, the car isn't, I want to know.
- 4:37Where was this candle?
- 4:38But more importantly, who made this extraordinary candle
- 4:43that lit this car on fire?
- 4:46That's basically the article.
- 4:47But even further, I'm left with, what do you say when you
- 4:52call up the insurance company?
- 4:55I'll just leave it there.
- 4:56I mean, the candle excuse has been used for every meth lab explosion
- 5:00on the East Coast that I know of.
- 5:01So, maybe this was like the scene from Breaking Bad.
- 5:05It's, you know, it's an RV and, I don't know.
- 5:07I mean, from the picture, the candle was in the front.
- 5:10Okay.
- 5:11It looked like it was in the front passenger seat.
- 5:14So, I don't, I just can't even imagine.
- 5:17Only in Florida.
- 5:18I mean, yeah, only in Florida.
- 5:19And, and scientists have, uh, I, I, no, I have to say it this way.
- 5:24Statistics have shown that people flatulate up to 14 times a day, so
- 5:28maybe this guy spent a lot of time in his car and therefore the candle was
- 5:32a necessary evil in order to survive.
- 5:36I don't think he has to say anything to the insurance company.
- 5:39I think when they look up his record and see Florida man, I don't think, I
- 5:43think they're just going to write it off.
- 5:45I think they've got a whole special department for Florida residents.
- 5:48100%.
- 5:50The public service announcement, listeners, please, you know,
- 5:52do not drive with candles lit.
- 5:55Buy, buy that black ice.
- 5:56I imagine seeing that on the digital board going down, uh, 695 next week.
- 6:02All right.
- 6:02So, and you know, bless this man's heart because he had the best intentions.
- 6:08It just weren't really advisable, safe, legal, I don't know.
- 6:15But a Florida man.
- 6:17Steals, and that's a strong word, maybe, but steals a downed power pole, puts
- 6:24it on his, like, 1990s vintage Camry, somehow straps a downed power pole to
- 6:31the top of his Camry, and tries to go to a recycling center to recycle it.
- 6:38But they got, but got turned away, and then Excuse me?
- 6:42Yeah, so that's why I said he had the best of intentions here.
- 6:45Wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 6:46Before we get to the recycling center, is this like that meme that's been
- 6:50on the internet since, since Al Gore created it, or sorry, since the
- 6:53internet was created where it's the Jetta at Home Depot and it's weighed
- 6:57down by like six feet of plywood?
- 6:59Is this the scene I am picturing in my head with this Camry and
- 7:02a telephone poles dropped to it?
- 7:04He was driving around town, so clearly it wasn't too heavy for the Camry.
- 7:08It definitely you can see that Camry's slightly weighted down nowhere near
- 7:12as bad as, as that Home Depot Jetta.
- 7:15So do, do telephone poles bring in a lot of money at the recycling center?
- 7:22I mean, maybe it was a metal recycling center.
- 7:24They weigh by the pound.
- 7:26Well, wait, wait, it's a metal.
- 7:27telephone pole?
- 7:28It's not a wooden one?
- 7:30Oh, it's metal.
- 7:31Because my next question was going to be, how are we recycling wood?
- 7:36No, it's a metal one, which apparently it's a light pole.
- 7:39Yes, it's like a light pole.
- 7:40Oh, okay.
- 7:40Okay.
- 7:41A tall fricking light pole, which is, I don't know how he got it.
- 7:45onto the Camry.
- 7:46He hit it and it fell on.
- 7:49Maybe that's what happened.
- 7:51And then he just got some straps and just, yeah.
- 7:54So he was already laying on the car, gets in the trunk and pulls out a ratchet
- 7:58strap and tries to recycle center.
- 8:00Not even ratchet straps.
- 8:01I don't even know.
- 8:02This is like wire.
- 8:04String.
- 8:05It's gotta be that, that like Ikea twine.
- 8:07Crafting string from Michael.
- 8:11Bless the 71 year old man's heart.
- 8:13Wait, what?
- 8:15I mean, the story, there's so many layers to this onion.
- 8:18Oh, please continue.
- 8:20We're gonna deep fry this bloomin onion in a minute.
- 8:24I mean, there's so many questions.
- 8:26How did a seven year old man get the pole on top of his head?
- 8:29Is he Hercules?
- 8:32He's like that guy from Seinfeld.
- 8:35The one guy's dad who kept getting in a competition, a lifting competition.
- 8:39Which flea market...
- 8:41What's this at Daytona Beach?
- 8:44I don't know.
- 8:45Okay, look, just after 11 a.
- 8:47m.
- 8:47whenever this was early, broad daylight, broad daylight, 11 a.
- 8:51m.
- 8:51on a Monday, the authority spotted the 1997 Toyota Camry.
- 8:56I'm glad they got the year right.
- 8:58And the state troopers arrested seven year one year old man, and
- 9:02they recovered the utility pole.
- 9:04It was a light pole, whatever.
- 9:06I don't know.
- 9:06He tried to do the right thing.
- 9:07He tried to recycle it.
- 9:09I think he hid it on his way to the NASCAR race and he instead of, instead of just
- 9:15leaving it on the side of the road, he tried to return it to the only public
- 9:20facility he knew of, the recycling center.
- 9:23I don't know.
- 9:24There's a lot going on here.
- 9:25I just, I just have a grand theft.
- 9:27So it's like, wait, is there a lot of copper wire in those poles?
- 9:31I just have this vision of a Camry going down the highway with a, now a metal.
- 9:38telephone pole, not a, not a wooden one on the roof.
- 9:41And as he's making the off ramp, it hits the guardrail and it's scraping
- 9:46the whole way down the ramp, right?
- 9:48Cause I mean, a light pole is really tall, right?
- 9:51I'm like, how does this work?
- 9:53And then he goes back to get the guardrail.
- 9:56There's a link.
- 9:57You can see a still shot of the light pole on the Camry.
- 10:00It was a tow truck right in front because I don't know how it would fit.
- 10:04Like they're gonna like tow this guy away.
- 10:06Like I don't know how that's all fitting together on this tow truck.
- 10:08But hey, I mean it's sticking out like probably probably 20
- 10:13feet off the back of the Camry.
- 10:16This is ridiculous.
- 10:18I mean, too much eggnog.
- 10:20All right.
- 10:21That's all I know.
- 10:23That's all I know is the season.
- 10:26So Tonya, tell us about the next Florida man.
- 10:28Oh, so he had another Florida man and this is very annoying.
- 10:33Okay.
- 10:34Gets 4 million in COVID PPP and buys a Lambo.
- 10:39Now I, this whole time have misunderstood what the paycheck protection program was
- 10:44for, because it's apparently for buying a Lamborghini Huracan and not for paying
- 10:49your employees during the time of COVID.
- 10:51Like this jackass.
- 10:55Just gonna say it.
- 10:56I mean it's utterly disgraceful in a time like now where people are under
- 11:00real crisis, they're without jobs, small business owners are struggling to
- 11:03make ends meet to pay their employees.
- 11:05You've got this guy defrauding the Paycheck Protection Program for four
- 11:09million dollars and he was shooting for way higher than that four million, okay,
- 11:15to support his alleged four businesses.
- 11:18And I'm wondering, again, if the missing link, what we don't know,
- 11:23is that one of his businesses was to drive around the Lamborghini Huracan.
- 11:29Maybe.
- 11:30But that still only falls under marketing expense, in
- 11:34that, I don't, the way the 75%.
- 11:42On your payroll costs, which included health insurance and taxes and stuff
- 11:46like that leaves you with a million bucks if it's 75 percent right?
- 11:50That's good enough to buy a Lamborghini or correct.
- 11:52Correct.
- 11:53But that means he doesn't get to write all or you can't get that million
- 11:56dollars forgiven for that hurricane.
- 11:58I mean, apparently it was a 318, 000 Huracan, so I don't know
- 12:03what they actually go for, but...
- 12:04Slap some vinyls on the side of that thing.
- 12:06It's marketing, baby!
- 12:07And I will say that it was dirt simple to get approved for the PPP loans.
- 12:14I'm an accountant, and I've had to do this for a couple clients.
- 12:17And they don't ask for...
- 12:18I mean, they ask for some information, but you basically fill it out yourself.
- 12:21You go through your bank, and if you've got a good relationship
- 12:24with your bank, they don't look.
- 12:25They don't ask questions.
- 12:26They just say, oh, you're approved.
- 12:27Here you go.
- 12:29That's unfortunate.
- 12:29I mean, it wasn't just a Lamborghini either.
- 12:31I mean, he was buying lots of other, like, high end luxury items.
- 12:36He had a million bucks to spend, of course.
- 12:38But what I want to know is...
- 12:39What type of candle did he buy for his name?
- 12:43What scent do you think it came in?
- 12:47See that's gonna be the that's gonna be the next article.
- 12:49Florida man burns Lamborghini to get rid of evidence.
- 12:53Like donkey.
- 12:54Yeah, I was gonna say does it come in shit bag?
- 12:57It smells like jackass.
- 12:58I mean, he was caught.
- 12:59He's facing serious criminal charges as you should think.
- 13:03Bank fraud, falsifying, you know, statements to a lending
- 13:06institution, engaging in transactions with unlawful proceeds.
- 13:10It's, it's, it's serious.
- 13:11It's a million dollar fine and 30 years in prison.
- 13:14So, I mean, hope that was worth it.
- 13:16This reminds me of that story a few years ago where another Florida man
- 13:20bought that Bugatti Veyron and tried to sink it in the, I guess in the
- 13:26intercoastal because he didn't have the money to cover the loan or whatever.
- 13:30So he tried to do insurance fraud.
- 13:33So we're back, back to Florida and not, you know, there's a lot
- 13:38of nice fine people in Florida.
- 13:40We're not trying to, you know, poke fun at Floridians.
- 13:44Um, there's, there's crazy people in every state and every part of the
- 13:48world that do some very crazy things.
- 13:51And, you know, this just happens that, again, it's another Florida man.
- 13:54And, you know, he wanted a Porsche.
- 13:57He wanted a 911 Turbo.
- 13:59And, you know, perhaps he didn't have the 140, 000 for it, but he
- 14:04had the 75 for a home printer.
- 14:09So, you know, what do you do?
- 14:12I mean, you just.
- 14:14Print a cashier's check for 140 grand and you walk into the dealer
- 14:17and you buy yourself a 9 11 jervo.
- 14:19Makes total sense.
- 14:20And then you try to buy three Rolexes with more printed checks.
- 14:25And then of course, because you bought a 75 printer.
- 14:29And I don't know if you bought a 75 printer.
- 14:32Um, you get caught.
- 14:35Then you get arrested.
- 14:36And you very likely go to jail for fraudulent activities.
- 14:40check forging and all sorts of good stuff.
- 14:44So needless to say he was caught short lived.
- 14:47I hope he enjoyed the two days he had to 9 11.
- 14:52I mean, there is all sorts of wrong with this equation, from not just the printing
- 14:57of the check, but the people that accepted it, the dealership, and everything else.
- 15:01I mean, it's just mind boggling.
- 15:03And again, not trying to single out Florida, because...
- 15:06But the stuff that goes on down there, you can't, you can't make this up.
- 15:10I mean, it was a really good printer, I don't know.
- 15:15I mean, usually the cashier's checks and things like that, I
- 15:17mean, checks in general, I mean, have certain marks, watermarks.
- 15:22They, they use, they use a special magnetic ink.
- 15:27So you, so again, it all comes full circle.
- 15:29You take apart the Etch A Sketch to use the parts to repair your Cybertruck, use
- 15:33the magnet aluminum magnetic powder inside the Etch A Sketch to make your Your check
- 15:38that you bought the printer from Best Buy so you can go buy your Sony Vision S.
- 15:42You see it all, it's all full circle.
- 15:45It's turtles all the way down from here.
- 15:48And then with your Best Buy rewards points you can turn around on the
- 15:51PlayStation 5 put in your Sony Vision S.
- 15:55There you go.
- 15:56We have connected all the dots now.
- 15:59So, what else is going on in Florida?
- 16:00Anything?
- 16:02So, this one is quite good and it's worth a look at the image.
- 16:07So, it's a very short article and our southern friends at Wink News, Southwest
- 16:14Florida's leading news, posted this article about a Florida man seen on video.
- 16:20riding on the hood of a truck down a busy highway and I would like to point out
- 16:25that it's not just a truck like ain't no ford f 150 or chevy this is a freaking
- 16:31semi truck okay he and according to the picture he's only wearing underwear he's
- 16:39sunbathing I noticed that too I was like wow at least I hope it's underwear and
- 16:46not blurred out but at any rate It's probably, it's hopefully gray underwear.
- 16:51So, a Florida man went, and I'm going to read this article, Florida man
- 16:55went for a nine mile busy highway, but in a highly unusual fashion,
- 17:02on the hood of a tractor trailer.
- 17:04The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported that the unidentified man climbed
- 17:08onto the hood Saturday after stopping his vehicle along Florida's Turnpike
- 17:13and walking out onto the highway.
- 17:16The Florida Highway Patrol says the tractor trailer driver continued on down
- 17:21the road as the man clung to the hood and began pounding on the windshield
- 17:26with his fists and his forehead.
- 17:29Eventually, a trooper stopped the tractor trailer and took the man into custody.
- 17:33He was committed for a 72 hour mental health evaluation
- 17:36under the state's Baker Act.
- 17:38No serious injuries were reported.
- 17:41Maybe he would like to say...
- 17:43If he has a mental health issue, that's nothing to make fun of, and
- 17:46I hope he gets the help that he needs, because that's very serious.
- 17:50That aside, what the hell was the tractor trailer driver doing?
- 17:54Like, why did you keep going for nine miles?
- 17:58That guy, that guy was standing his ground.
- 18:01Maybe.
- 18:01Gordon's got that stand your ground law.
- 18:03I bet that's what he was doing.
- 18:04Maybe they were reenacting the scene from Indiana Jones.
- 18:08Where he crawls up from underneath of the Nazi, you know, military truck
- 18:12and then ends up on the windshield.
- 18:14Maybe it's the sequel to Lost Bullet 2.
- 18:17Or maybe it's a rebirth of Gone in 60 Seconds.
- 18:22I, and I know the listeners haven't heard these episodes yet, but they are coming.
- 18:26And believe me, they're amazing.
- 18:28So, who knows?
- 18:30There's crazy people all over the world.
- 18:34And this next one brings us across the pond to a London woman who fell
- 18:42out of a car onto a busy highway while filming a Snapchat video.
- 18:50I agree with the police.
- 18:52It truly is lucky that she wasn't seriously injured or killed, or let
- 18:56alone somebody else be traumatized by hitting her on the highway.
- 18:59But think of the views.
- 19:02But the best, the best part of the article.
- 19:07Quote, and I assume this is in response to a Twitter post from the London police.
- 19:14Asked by a user if officers explain the dangers of the attempts to
- 19:18the woman, the police replied.
- 19:22Every chance they worked it out before, we spoke to them about it.
- 19:27This wasn't the first time this woman dangled out of a car on the
- 19:32highway trying to do Snapchat videos.
- 19:36Dumb AF.
- 19:38Was it the first time she fell out?
- 19:46Those are all on TikTok instead.
- 19:48So, you know, she was doing some stupid, you know, happy hands dance.
- 19:53Like, she's doing the floss, like out the window of the car.
- 19:57Kiki, do you love me?
- 19:59Are you riding?
- 20:01Let me fall out on the freeway.
- 20:07Oh, that's good.
- 20:08That's rich.
- 20:09Wow.
- 20:10I mean, we know no bounds when it comes to this sort of stuff.
- 20:15Whew.
- 20:15Thank you to the world for, for, for giving us this.
- 20:19Man, what's the equivalent of the Darwin Awards in the automotive world?
- 20:23That's what we got going on here.
- 20:25How did this Florida woman make it to the UK?
- 20:33I mean, uh, maybe she could have taken a ride on the front of a tractor
- 20:38trailer like the guy from last month.
- 20:40I mean, you know, it all comes full circle.
- 20:42There's so many ways that this dramatic dramatization could end.
- 20:48God, I, I can't explain this one at all.
- 20:51I will say there was some other crazy stuff that happened in Florida this
- 20:54past month and involved inebriation.
- 20:58Golf carts and riding lawnmowers in the riding lawnmower
- 21:03was going down the highway.
- 21:08So public service announcement.
- 21:11Please do not operate any sort of motorized vehicle under the
- 21:15influence of drugs or alcohol.
- 21:19Full stop.
- 21:20But with that being said, I can't explain our next story, which is.
- 21:25A square body hauls 32, 000 pounds of logs.
- 21:31What's a square body?
- 21:33Shimmy!
- 21:34Yeah!
- 21:36And I tell you what, I started watching this video and I got about 30 seconds
- 21:41in and my brain started to melt.
- 21:45Right?
- 21:46And then I realized, man, Mountain Man Dan is going to be so proud of this.
- 21:51So I got to watch this video because it involves square bodies.
- 21:54And I'm like, all right, I'm in it.
- 21:57And then I realized it's 20 minutes long.
- 21:59And I'm like, I'm like, holy cow, where are we going?
- 22:06So the moral to the story is, if you want to understand the phrase more
- 22:12money than brains, this video pretty much summarizes that sentiment.
- 22:17He can't have that much money.
- 22:18He's got a square body.
- 22:19All right, hold up.
- 22:20He bought a retired fire truck, bright red, all the decals
- 22:25on the side, paid 15 grand.
- 22:29For a square body and it's mint lifted.
- 22:32I mean, they showed pictures of it underneath.
- 22:33All the parts have been replaced, manual transmission, rebuilt 350, all this stuff.
- 22:39I mean, this truck was ready to go.
- 22:41Yeah, ain't nothing to look at.
- 22:43It's a square body.
- 22:43I mean, if you're a fan of them, if you're a fan of a brick with wheels, fine.
- 22:47It is what it is.
- 22:48But I'm looking at this thing for, for what it is, being as, as
- 22:51old as this, it's a great truck.
- 22:5415 grand, maybe a little bit much to spend on it.
- 22:57And then this guy, younger gentleman, he decides.
- 23:00Well, we did a test on another episode where we wanted to see how much a
- 23:05Ford F 150 diesel or whatever it was could tow to its absolute limit.
- 23:11And apparently this gentleman is not a fan of the square body.
- 23:14And he tells you that pretty much within the first minute of the video.
- 23:18And he says, I want to prove or disprove whether or not these trucks are really
- 23:22all that they're cracked up to be.
- 23:24Because square body owners are religious.
- 23:26As we know, Mount Mandan is.
- 23:27Those trucks can do anything.
- 23:29They can go anywhere.
- 23:30There will be one in space next to the Tesla Roadster, you know, in, in several
- 23:35years, I'm sure it'll be, it'll be flying rust though, but you know, hey, whatever.
- 23:42So another, um, interesting little piece of news for three
- 23:46people that probably care.
- 23:48Tesla Roadster that's out there in orbit somewhere, uh, is close to Mars.
- 23:54And moving on.
- 23:54No, just kidding.
- 23:56Uh, I don't know who really cares about this.
- 23:58I guess it's a fun fact.
- 23:59Um, to throw some fun facts, it's traveled 1.
- 24:023 billion miles since it was launched.
- 24:06And it's approximately 37 million miles away from the planet earth.
- 24:10So it's going to be a very long time before it's ever back.
- 24:15Sort of, sort of close to earth.
- 24:17And even then you won't be able to see it.
- 24:19Um, with, you know, high power telescope or anything like that.
- 24:23So at least not one, not, not a personal one, at least.
- 24:26And it did this on a single charge.
- 24:33Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
- 24:37I still don't understand the point of the whole thing, but Hey,
- 24:39it's out there being space junk.
- 24:41So moving on and speaking of just because you can't fall off when
- 24:46it collects moisture in space.
- 24:48Is there moisture in space?
- 24:58So with that being said, he decides, okay, I'm going to make sides for the bed
- 25:03and I'm going to fill it with firewood.
- 25:05Cool.
- 25:05I was like, well, to me, that doesn't seem like, that does
- 25:09not seem like 16 tons of wood.
- 25:13Nope.
- 25:13That was to level the bed with the roof so that he could then proceed
- 25:19to put logs, telephone poles, and all sorts of trees on top of the truck, and
- 25:27then strap it down with chains to the body and see how far he could drive.
- 25:32Once they realized they had forward motion in the truck, then
- 25:36it was time to destroy the truck.
- 25:38And do all sorts of crazy things.
- 25:40So I'm not going to spoiler alert, but you need to watch the video and watch
- 25:44it through the end because there's even stuff in the outtakes of the video, uh,
- 25:49that are just mind bogglingly stupid.
- 25:53But I will say it has left me with a new impression of the square body.
- 25:58Those trucks are amazing.
- 26:00I would say they're right up there with the Toyota Hilux.
- 26:02Cannot kill one, uh, as hard as these guys try, uh, but you will lose brain
- 26:09cells by the end of that 20 minute period.
- 26:11It is absolutely bonkers.
- 26:13But it did, it did, it did lead me into another question though, because
- 26:17I, as I was thinking about it.
- 26:19I wanted to know, Squarebody, you know, was famous, was made famous
- 26:23by Lee Majors, the Fall guy, right?
- 26:27Two tone, Squarebody flying through the air every episode, right?
- 26:31Because he was like the Magnum PI with the pickup truck.
- 26:34And it got me thinking, because we were talking about it the other day, Mr.
- 26:37T and trailer and vans and this and that, you know, you had the A Team van.
- 26:42John Voight drove a LeBaron, and there's other celebrities that
- 26:45drive all sorts of weird cars.
- 26:47And it got me thinking, what does Mr.
- 26:49T drive as a street car?
- 26:51So in a quick round of what should I buy, what do you guys think?
- 26:54What does Mr.
- 26:54T drive as his daily driver?
- 26:58Buick Roadmaster.
- 27:06So I just found a picture of him in ZR1, if it's true.
- 27:09So there you go.
- 27:10Maybe he has a Corvette.
- 27:11Boom.
- 27:12Is it a C4 ZR1?
- 27:15Him in the door.
- 27:16There you go.
- 27:16That is true.
- 27:17Mr.
- 27:17T drives a Corvette.
- 27:19So how do you like that?
- 27:20Right?
- 27:21I am.
- 27:21I want to know what body style as well because he's a big dude.
- 27:24So, maybe you can put a big man in a little car, right Brad?
- 27:29You can wedge anybody into anything.
- 27:31Apparently Matt keeps telling me you can fit me into a Miata.
- 27:35I don't believe it, but, Stranger things have happened.
- 27:40Do we want to talk about Sturgis, or do we want to just leave it where it sits?
- 27:44I mean, uh, I don't know.
- 27:46All I was, so, I mean, We might be remiss without a little bit of
- 27:50COVID car adjacent news, I suppose.
- 27:53I think we're all aware, because it was in the news, uh, quite a bit leading up
- 27:57to the event, during the event, after the event, the Sturgis, uh, the yearly
- 28:03Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, um, a lot of people were very concerned prior to this
- 28:08event taking place that it was going to be bringing, you know, Thousands of people
- 28:13that weren't going to be socially distant and using masks, et cetera, et cetera.
- 28:19Lo and behold, that's exactly what happened at the event.
- 28:22Um, and then, you know, the bigger headlines were 250, 000 cases
- 28:27of, you know, the coronavirus because of the surges rally.
- 28:31And, you know, that, that got people excited.
- 28:33And then there was.
- 28:34some, you know, back checking, well, you know, really probably wasn't 250, 000.
- 28:39That was really a number that was just kind of generated from predictions of
- 28:44what, you know, the worst case could be.
- 28:46At the end of the day, I, none of us really know what the true numbers are and
- 28:51I haven't been following it that closely.
- 28:53I, I think it's, It's probably accurate to say that, you know, COVID was
- 28:59probably brought to this small town of South Dakota if it wasn't already
- 29:02there as a result of this, um, event.
- 29:05Um, I'm sure that, you know, it wasn't zero cases, probably wasn't 250, 000.
- 29:11Who knows, but nonetheless, you know, we're still in this thing,
- 29:15whether you want to believe it exists or not, we all got to do our
- 29:18part, um, so we can get through it, so just, just be mindful of that.
- 29:22All right.
- 29:23All right, so, I've got a question.
- 29:25So we're still in an age of remakes, sequels, and all that, right?
- 29:31Yeah, of course.
- 29:32We're still living in this age.
- 29:34So who thinks it's time for a Ben Hur redo?
- 29:39What?
- 29:40Brought into modern times.
- 29:42Fast and the Furious Ben Hur edition?
- 29:45I think you mean Ben Harley.
- 29:47Oh, I like it.
- 29:50So I know this sounds ludicrous, and what am I talking about?
- 29:54And nobody wants to see horse chariot racing, because if no
- 29:58one's familiar with Ben Hur, that was the, what the movie was about.
- 30:02Roman times and chariot races and all that.
- 30:04But what if in this modern remake of Ben Hur, it was motorcycle chariot racing?
- 30:11So they're riding motorcycles being pulled by horses?
- 30:15I don't get it.
- 30:16No, they're riding a chariot wagon thing being pulled by motorcycles.
- 30:24Wait a minute, how does that work?
- 30:28I don't know, honestly, how this could possibly work.
- 30:33Is this legit?
- 30:34This is legit.
- 30:35Apparently, this was a popular form of motorsport in the 1920s and 30s,
- 30:42kind of around the world, and...
- 30:44This is the first I've heard of it, so you can look this up, there's an
- 30:47article, there's lots of vintage pictures in there of these people, literally
- 30:53in, in the, in the chariot wagon, and, and they've got straps attached to
- 30:58the throttles on these motorcycles.
- 31:01And apparently that's how they're controlling, I guess that's how
- 31:04they're in steering, I imagine, because I, I don't think they were
- 31:07just going in a straight line.
- 31:09And, you know, they talked about, you know, the really adventurous guys
- 31:12would have more than one motorcycle.
- 31:14And I'm like, there was a picture of like a dude with like three motorcycles
- 31:18in front of his little chariot wagon.
- 31:21In.
- 31:22I mean, on a scale of what to dumb as fuck, I mean, this is
- 31:29pretty far on the dumb AF side.
- 31:32I think you're, I think you're wrong.
- 31:35This is clearly from The Onion.
- 31:37This can't be real.
- 31:38I mean, this just reinforces that motorcycle riders are on a completely
- 31:42different planet than the rest of us.
- 31:45I, you know, I didn't do, you know, in fairness, I didn't do a lot of fact
- 31:49checking around this, but, you know.
- 31:51It originated in Florida.
- 31:54Oh, geez.
- 31:55It might have.
- 31:56I mean, these look like legit photos.
- 31:59Unbelievable facts.
- 32:00com has this article on motorcycle chariot racing was a real
- 32:05sport in the 1920s and 1930s.
- 32:08Not well known.
- 32:09And then they have, I think at the end of the article, they've
- 32:12got some more modern age.
- 32:14Uh, photos.
- 32:15People, people still doing this apparently.
- 32:18They got, these guys got a West Coast Chopper style motorcycle pulling
- 32:22their little chariot wagon thing.
- 32:24Oh.
- 32:25I mean.
- 32:26Uh, whatever.
- 32:28Let's move on from that, because as if that Wait, there's a video.
- 32:33There is, you know, I didn't watch the video.
- 32:36I'm watching it now, there's a video, and it works.
- 32:41I will watch the video after this, I did not, I was too To beside myself to
- 32:46own this by watching this is priceless.
- 32:51Based on Brad's face, this is going to be the greatest thing you watch all month.
- 32:55I'm going to snap that out.
- 32:56That's the cover photo of this month's episode.
- 32:59She's Bradley.
- 33:01So it's a 30 second video.
- 33:03Wow.
- 33:04All we need.
- 33:06We think that's crazy.
- 33:08Well, we can go to a crazier town.
- 33:12Cause.
- 33:13There is, what could possibly go wrong speeding around well in excess of
- 33:19100 miles an hour on public highways in an 1100 horsepower DIY Audi RS3?
- 33:27What could go wrong?
- 33:28Nothing.
- 33:29That's legit.
- 33:30I think absolutely nothing could possibly go on.
- 33:33Go wrong.
- 33:34Street racing on a highway with your 1100 horsepower.
- 33:38It's all bolt ons.
- 33:39They're under warranty.
- 33:41It says home built.
- 33:46Well, we got to do something now that Garrett's declared bankruptcy, right?
- 33:49You build your own turbo.
- 33:50So I'm gonna cut right to the chase on this one.
- 33:53A brake line breaks on this car that's doing almost 150 miles an hour.
- 33:59Brake fluid obviously spews out onto the hot brakes, which then ignite.
- 34:05Okay.
- 34:07Um, and essentially by the time they get the car stopped, because they didn't
- 34:12have any brakes, the whole frickin thing goes up in flames because a fuel line
- 34:16melted and then the frickin everything catches on fire basically at this point.
- 34:21I, I, I, I, I mean, I, I, like, there's a video because these guys were GoPro
- 34:30ing this whole thing, and they were, they were street racing, they, there
- 34:33was other people in um, McLaren, and, and, and the GTR, this, that, and the
- 34:38other, and they were doing hot pulls on the highway, and all those shenanigans
- 34:41that you shouldn't be doing, um.
- 34:44And so there's footage of the in car and the dialogue between the driver and the
- 34:47passenger and then there's some later GoPro footage of the other people that saw
- 34:53the car sparks and smoke coming out of it.
- 34:56But I do imagine that it must have been pretty terrifying to be going
- 35:00that fast, have smoke start coming into the car, and then realize
- 35:05that you don't have any brakes.
- 35:07But these people were
- 35:13buffoons.
- 35:13Oh, man.
- 35:13Okay.
- 35:13And also, I want to know, did something else happen besides the brake failure?
- 35:18Because at one point, the passenger asks, can you turn the motor on and downshift?
- 35:25Presumably, you know, engine, slow down the car, engine brake, right?
- 35:29To which the driver answers, no, it's dead.
- 35:33So if initially the brake line broke, the super hot brakes because you keep
- 35:37doing these hot pulls and you're slowing down from 150 and you ignite your
- 35:41brakes, why the hell can't the car start?
- 35:45Like why is the car stall?
- 35:48The ECU.
- 35:50Got it.
- 35:51It burned a ground wire somewhere.
- 35:54Who knows?
- 35:54I mean, or something else happened.
- 35:56I don't know.
- 35:57What was claimed was that the brake line was the initiating factor.
- 36:01So, they have that conversation about turning the car on.
- 36:04They can't turn the car on.
- 36:06Shortly after, in the GoPro in car footage, you see the
- 36:09passenger door has opened.
- 36:12And they're still going.
- 36:12They're going quick.
- 36:14Okay.
- 36:15And you hear this scraping noise in the video.
- 36:19Yes, we're trying to Fred Flintstone this thing.
- 36:25And at least the response was accurate.
- 36:29My foot, not gonna do shit.
- 36:33You're damn right it's not at like 60 miles an hour or how fast you
- 36:36still were going at this point.
- 36:38You're gonna break your foot.
- 36:39My goodness.
- 36:40He needs a Mike Crutchfield 14 triple E or whatever to stop that car.
- 36:46Alright, then the next thing we hear.
- 36:49I don't want to put you into the wall.
- 36:51To which I'm assuming it's the driver talking to his car.
- 36:56And not concerned about, like, you know, the passenger side, the
- 36:59passenger going into the wall.
- 37:02Um, but honestly, I think at this point, that's probably what I
- 37:04would have done in this situation.
- 37:06Well, I would have been in this situation to begin with, but.
- 37:09If I found myself in a situation where I couldn't stop my car, and this is
- 37:13nighttime, there's not a lot of people around, I mean, pull up gently next to
- 37:17the jersey wall and scrub some paint, and then fucking jump out of the car.
- 37:22At any rate.
- 37:23Or, I would have been doing some slalom down the road too to try to scrub
- 37:27speed off with, with a turning motion.
- 37:29From the video, they just kept going perfectly in the lane as if...
- 37:33You know, whatever.
- 37:34So I don't, you know, does that car, does that car have a handle e brake or
- 37:39is it a, like a push button e brake?
- 37:41It's electric.
- 37:42They talked about the e brake and he said it wasn't working.
- 37:44They also apparently had a parachute that they couldn't
- 37:47deploy for some reason or another.
- 37:49Oh, you buy all this stuff on eBay.
- 37:51I mean, what do you expect?
- 37:54I don't, I don't know.
- 37:55I mean, I imagine there's, there's a, there's a lot of
- 37:58panic that was probably going on.
- 37:59So I'm sure they're not thinking clearly about all their options.
- 38:02I mean, there was a lot of, Oh my God, we got to get out.
- 38:04We got to get out.
- 38:05How do we get out going on?
- 38:07Nonetheless, eventually, they, they creeped the car to a stop and then
- 38:12some of the other street racers, they were there, they, you know, they came
- 38:15rushing up, they had these little baby fire extinguishers and they were trying
- 38:19to, you know, extinguish the flames that were now coming out of the hood.
- 38:22Oh, they were in V.
- 38:22I.
- 38:23R.
- 38:25I will say at least a very intelligent thing happened at this point when
- 38:29someone said, don't open the hood.
- 38:33I mean, despite the fact that you probably couldn't touch the hood for
- 38:35how hot it was with, you know, flame shooting out from under it, but, you
- 38:39know, it would have been catastrophic to, to lift the hood and introduce
- 38:43all that oxygen and feed that fire.
- 38:45So thank goodness they didn't do that.
- 38:47Um, the second intelligent thing was One of the guys saying, well, I'm not
- 38:52going to go back and get my GoPro.
- 38:54He damn right.
- 38:55You shouldn't go back.
- 38:56The fricking car is on fire and golden flames at this point.
- 38:59But the footage, that's some pretty awesome footage.
- 39:03I mean, he did later, like you see him, he's holding the GoPro.
- 39:06So I guess it didn't.
- 39:06So kudos to a GoPro.
- 39:07It didn't melt.
- 39:08It did look like it had a little bit of.
- 39:10damage, but it didn't, it didn't melt.
- 39:12So, and they had all this footage.
- 39:13So clearly the GoPro survived.
- 39:15So kudos to GoPro.
- 39:16But I mean, the video goes on for a while.
- 39:19You see what maybe was they're saying, Oh, the tire just exploded.
- 39:24Like, and you see these big pops and stuff, which is probably possible with
- 39:27all the heat and flames coming out right there against the rubber, but total loss.
- 39:32I mean, I got one thing to say about that.
- 39:34Good luck on that insurance claim, bro.
- 39:36I mean, the, it was always the, the passenger talking the, I think the
- 39:41driver was shying away from incriminating himself on any of the video footage.
- 39:45It doesn't matter that that car is, it's, uh, what it's gone viral now.
- 39:50It's in the public domain.
- 39:52Oh, it's on the interwebs.
- 39:54Someone put it into the Microsoft.
- 39:56I'm sure the police had something to say when they showed up.
- 39:58At any rate, you know, there was a good message.
- 40:00Well, I, I don't, you know, perhaps the lesson here is not the street race.
- 40:04You're damn right it is.
- 40:05Take your 1100 horsepower to your local track folks and do it safely.
- 40:09And don't overnight parts from Indonesia.
- 40:12So moving on, just be sticking with the theme just because you
- 40:15can doesn't mean you should.
- 40:17We've got a public service announcement for you and anyone that goes to
- 40:20a car festival or a car show or a hot rod weekend at the beach,
- 40:25you know, like H2O and Ocean City.
- 40:29Don't be like this Dumfries, Virginia driver and shut down the Bay Bridge so
- 40:33you can do burnouts and donuts and all kinds of illegal activity in the middle
- 40:38of the day, you know, for for the gram.
- 40:41Don't do that crap because you will get caught.
- 40:43You will get in trouble and you could get seriously hurt if you do it.
- 40:46Um, so please don't be like this fool and do burnouts or
- 40:50anything illegal on the road.
- 40:51It's just not worth it.
- 40:53So you remember last month when we talked about the DIY turbo kit on the Audi RS3?
- 41:00Do we remember how that ended?
- 41:02I especially remember the, my feet ain't gonna do shit quote.
- 41:07I think Johnny Cash wrote a song about it, right?
- 41:10Yeah.
- 41:11Burning blaze of fire.
- 41:13Exactly.
- 41:14So speaking of burning blazes of fire in car shows, we had a yet another entry come
- 41:21across our desk where you get to watch a twin turbo diesel pickup truck explode on
- 41:28the dino as it's making 3000 horsepower.
- 41:32It is epic.
- 41:34And it's one of those things that is It's extremely interesting because diesel,
- 41:40I don't know, I don't want to go there.
- 41:42I'm going to leave that alone.
- 41:42It is something to behold again, another DIY and example of another
- 41:47perfect DIY scenario that ends in a huge flaming dumpster fire.
- 41:53I mean, it's been a while since I watched that video, but I mean, that
- 41:56was Could have been catastrophic.
- 41:59I mean, parts were flying.
- 42:01If I recall, like people could have lied.
- 42:05I mean, that was insane.
- 42:06It is epic.
- 42:07So if you are a diesel owner, always remember to watch your
- 42:10EGTs, uh, especially when you're making that kind of horsepower.
- 42:15Another person in Florida and a person in California who thinks it's a good idea to
- 42:18steal a police car and drive away in it.
- 42:21Somebody's played too much Grand Theft Auto.
- 42:24The guy in California sure did.
- 42:26He was, he impersonated himself as a police officer and went into like a
- 42:31stop at a gas station, something crazy.
- 42:33And then tried to, um, actually I don't think he stole a police car.
- 42:37He just is impersonating a police officer, went into like a gas station,
- 42:41rest stop, tried to like search somebody or something, but they wouldn't let him.
- 42:47And then there happened to be other cops there that showed up
- 42:49and were like, what's going on?
- 42:50Show us your badge and all this stuff.
- 42:52Obviously didn't have one.
- 42:53So he jumps in his Ford Edge and goes on like a.
- 42:56Blazes down the road and he's in a hot pursuit, or the cops
- 43:00are in a hot pursuit of him.
- 43:01Is he chasing himself because he's impersonating him?
- 43:03Right, exactly.
- 43:04Except he, he, he, like, he almost gets away.
- 43:07So they lose him, and then the only reason...
- 43:09Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, we
- 43:12gotta stop for a second here because...
- 43:14Again, my imagination is still pretty good.
- 43:17So I'm envisioning certain things here.
- 43:19First of all, you said it's white, it's a white Ford edge, right?
- 43:22Because that is, it was a great one either way.
- 43:25That is like the uniform security guards car of choice.
- 43:29Right?
- 43:29So he already kind of had the look going for him.
- 43:32So it probably says like Eagle eyes security on the side
- 43:35of the thing or whatever.
- 43:37And then you tell me, okay, he's in a Ford Edge.
- 43:40We're talking maybe, maybe the 2.
- 43:443 liter, maybe the 2.
- 43:455 liter normally aspirated four cylinder, or smaller, could be the
- 43:49two liter out of the focus, right?
- 43:52And you, you want to tell me he almost lost?
- 43:56The Mighty Crown Vix?
- 43:58Well, I don't know if they were Crown Vix or they were...
- 44:01Explorers?
- 44:01It's this stock photo of one of those Dodge Charger type.
- 44:05Oh, okay.
- 44:05Even better.
- 44:06What the heck?
- 44:07So, so, you know, he...
- 44:08So it's Bullet all over again.
- 44:11So he drives away, and like, they throw out the spikes to get him.
- 44:14They didn't get him and he gets away.
- 44:17And so then the only Was he got go go gadget like wheels or something?
- 44:21run flats.
- 44:22I don't know because the only reason they caught back up to him was because somebody
- 44:25called in a gray Ford Edge that was going 80 or 90 miles an hour past a high school.
- 44:33And so then the cops began the pursuit again.
- 44:36They tried the spikes a second time, still got away from the spikes.
- 44:42Okay.
- 44:42If only he had turned on the yellow lights on the roof, they
- 44:47wouldn't have stopped him, right?
- 44:48Mall security.
- 44:49It's like, what's it, Paul Blart?
- 44:55So then they deploy the spikes a third time.
- 44:59What is this, Need for Speed?
- 45:01Yeah, we graduated from Grand Theft Auto, Need for Speed.
- 45:05Either he got slowed down by the third set of spikes, or I don't know, because
- 45:09he was able to continue driving, and then finally, they like, rammed him,
- 45:15and then like, flipped him over.
- 45:18He wasn't hurt, neither were the police officers.
- 45:20Oh, well that's important.
- 45:22That is epic.
- 45:24Like, I am so confused.
- 45:27Like, all of this makes no sense.
- 45:29They always say, like, you can't outrun Motorola.
- 45:32Except if you're in a Ford Edge.
- 45:36No, but he didn't outrun him because the Karen caught him.
- 45:42The Karen and the school pickup line.
- 45:45Yeah.
- 45:46Oh my God!
- 45:50Wait, I'm so confused.
- 45:51Isn't everybody home from school right now?
- 45:54Why were they in the school parking lot?
- 45:56Again, this is a mystery wrapped in an enigma inside of a puzzle.
- 46:01It's like Westworld.
- 46:02Okay, testing.
- 46:04I don't know who was near the high school to see him drive by the high school.
- 46:06We maybe, I mean, the high school is probably in a neighborhood,
- 46:11so it was the Karen next door.
- 46:13A lot of there's, that's how it is down here.
- 46:15Actually, you drive through neighborhoods.
- 46:17Suddenly there's a school there, so it's plausible.
- 46:20Someone was out walking their dog and this Ford Edge goes by.
- 46:24You're like, Whoa, what was that?
- 46:26It's 30 miles an hour.
- 46:27I was going to say more like
- 46:3240.
- 46:32What was that gray blob?
- 46:36And it's terrible.
- 46:38That's what's going on in California this month.
- 46:41So, you know, I'm going to read this headline because, and I
- 46:45thank my local radio for giving me these nuggets periodically
- 46:49when I wake up in the morning.
- 46:51Combine crash.
- 46:52Man arrested for DUI after flipping farm equipment.
- 46:56So for anybody who doesn't know what a combine is, it's a gigantic
- 47:00harvester, essentially, okay?
- 47:01It's a gigantic piece of farm equipment.
- 47:03And this is a North Dakota man.
- 47:05Okay, and I don't know much about farm equipment, but based on the picture of
- 47:10the flipped over combine, I could tell that it is John Deere, and I could see
- 47:15the model number, so I looked it up.
- 47:18So it's an S670 John Deere combine, because I was curious, like, how
- 47:23do you flip farm equipment, because I imagine they're pretty heavy.
- 47:28And so I want, I looked it up, so I want to know how much one weighs.
- 47:31So any guesses on how much you think?
- 47:34A farm harvester?
- 47:36I'm gonna go 50 tons.
- 47:40I'm gonna say 50 and a half.
- 47:48And a half.
- 47:48One dollar, Bob.
- 47:49One dollar.
- 47:50So, so that's high.
- 47:51That's very high.
- 47:53Okay.
- 47:53Was it like 27?
- 47:55You're getting closer.
- 47:56So my research indicates that with attachment, um, so with the actual
- 48:01harvesting attachment on, on the, on the cab or the tractor piece,
- 48:05I guess it weighs 41, 178 pounds.
- 48:10So 20 tons.
- 48:11And I believe, um, Sorry, that is with the attachment.
- 48:16So it's 20 tons with the attachment.
- 48:17If you take the attachment off, which based on the photo either was never
- 48:21on to begin with or it came off in the flipping, um, you drop two tons.
- 48:26So, this person managed to flip 18 to 20 tons of metal.
- 48:35In a field.
- 48:36In a field.
- 48:37I mean, presumably.
- 48:39I wish I could tell where exactly he was.
- 48:41I got one, I got one answer for this.
- 48:44How?
- 48:45I got one answer.
- 48:46One answer.
- 48:47Aliens.
- 48:49I would love, I wish there was a GoPro with this one.
- 48:52See he, he hit the nitrous button and he didn't have the,
- 48:55uh, the anti, uh, pull up bars.
- 48:58He didn't have wheelie bars on his tractor, yeah, yeah.
- 49:01I mean, this reminded me of, of cars where they go tractor tipping.
- 49:05You know, . I love the fact that he was driving the combine because they revoked
- 49:12his driver's license from an earlier DUI, I mean, don't drink and drive people.
- 49:18I mean, maybe, maybe he ran over, they attach him in part with the
- 49:23tractor and then he flipped it over.
- 49:25I mean, that's still, I mean, you're in the middle of a field.
- 49:28What the hell else sat there?
- 49:28So he, so he was pulling a grave digger.
- 49:30Or, or he discovered a landmine left over from World War II.
- 49:36The tractor looked pretty, or the combine looked pretty intact.
- 49:40I'm giving you possibilities for an unexplainable scenario here, okay?
- 49:45Your alien scenario sounds the best so far.
- 49:47I can see Giorgio Tsoukalos now.
- 49:52It's aliens.
- 49:53So, we're Mulder and Scully there.
- 50:00Was he making crop circles?
- 50:02They couldn't tell us if they were there, so we'll just go with it.
- 50:05How many G's does one of those things can sustain at Volter?
- 50:09How many G's?
- 50:10Probably more than an 84 Camaro.
- 50:12How many G's?
- 50:14How many G's does this sustain flipping over?
- 50:17Oh my god.
- 50:19Goodness gracious.
- 50:20Did it win the 84 handling contest?
- 50:22Ha ha ha ha.
- 50:25Solid axle.
- 50:26Let's go a little further north.
- 50:28And kind of show that it's not just our friends in Florida
- 50:33or North Dakota or Michigan.
- 50:35That do crazy things, but.
- 50:37You know, I'm disappointed by this next one because I, I, I tend to hold our
- 50:41northern neighbors in pretty high regard.
- 50:43There's some, there's some top notch folk that I've met coming
- 50:46out of Canada, but such is life.
- 50:50There's always one that ruins it for the rest of us.
- 50:53And in this case...
- 50:54They're giving self driving cars a really bad rap.
- 50:57So a Canadian driver of a Tesla was found to sleep at the wheel
- 51:00doing 150 kilometers an hour.
- 51:02So for us south of the border, that's more or less 90 miles an hour.
- 51:07They were on a Canadian highway where most speed limits are 110
- 51:10kilometers an hour or 70 miles an hour.
- 51:14So obviously This is incredibly reckless, and not at all how Tesla
- 51:19Autopilot is intended to be used.
- 51:22So, soapbox time.
- 51:24Wake up, fools of the world.
- 51:26Alright, this stuff isn't fully autonomous, okay?
- 51:28You cannot go to sleep and not expect to rear end a slow moving
- 51:33tractor trailer and die, okay?
- 51:35Stop it.
- 51:36Ooh, brutal.
- 51:37Stop.
- 51:37Alright, off the soapbox.
- 51:39So, the best part...
- 51:40The driver had the seat fully reclined.
- 51:45And not just the driver, but there was a passenger as well.
- 51:49So there are two fools in this story.
- 51:51Were the tray tables down also?
- 51:53You need to be in your upright and locked position at all times.
- 51:56I want to know what Candle scent he was using a hundred percent.
- 52:01It's called Moose tracks.
- 52:03And I have to say, I've got an argument or I've got an issue
- 52:06with the self-driving car part.
- 52:08There's no such thing as a self-driving car.
- 52:10There are cars with self-driving capabilities, but there's no
- 52:14such thing as a self-driving car.
- 52:16No.
- 52:17And it's, and it's, and it, and it Erics me 'cause it's really not even, it
- 52:20shouldn't even be called self-driving.
- 52:21We should be calling it driver assistance because until these
- 52:24things become fully autonomous.
- 52:26Then they will be self driving.
- 52:28Well, for this one, this one is called Sleep Aids.
- 52:34Now, there's a confusing part to the article, and I want to
- 52:36see what you guys think, so I'm going to read it verbatim, okay?
- 52:40The car appeared to be self driving, traveling over 140 kilometers an hour,
- 52:45with both front seats completely reclined, and both occupants appearing to be asleep.
- 52:51After the police flashed their lights, The Tesla electric vehicle
- 52:54reportedly sped up to exactly 150 kilometers an hour, according to
- 52:59the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
- 53:02I'm really confused about what the, why did it accelerate?
- 53:08I don't understand.
- 53:09So it turned into a getaway car?
- 53:12But it...
- 53:13Is 90 miles an hour a high speed chase in Alberta?
- 53:18I have no idea.
- 53:19Like I literally had to read that several times.
- 53:21I don't understand.
- 53:22I don't know why they even mention it, but at any rate, apparently,
- 53:26maybe it is a self driving Tesla.
- 53:28He wanted to get away.
- 53:30It's fully autonomous.
- 53:33I'm going to go with aliens, Alex, for the win.
- 53:37So did the combine flip over trying to avoid a driverless
- 53:44car coming down the highway?
- 53:46Maybe he got scared.
- 53:48Seeing nobody in the car, in the car going down the road.
- 53:51Was it a self driving combine?
- 53:53Oh, hmm.
- 53:55So, nonetheless, this driver was charged for speeding, given a 24 hour
- 53:59license suspension, um, for driving while fatigued, and further was slapped
- 54:03with dangerous driving charges for which they have to appear in court.
- 54:06So all, uh, deserved.
- 54:09Fail at life.
- 54:10I'm sorry, honey, I can't drive tonight, I'm too fatigued.
- 54:13When are, so, real quick, when are we breaking this up for the bike trail one?
- 54:17I saw Brad's name next to it.
- 54:18Sorry.
- 54:19Yeah, go ahead.
- 54:20You'll, you'll, you can put it back in whatever order.
- 54:23Oh, I, I just didn't know because it looked like you skipped over
- 54:25it, so I just, I didn't know if you wanted to break up the conversation.
- 54:28Sorry.
- 54:28Yeah, go ahead.
- 54:29I, I moved it there, but then I was looking at my other notes
- 54:31where I didn't have it in there.
- 54:32So we talked earlier about off roaders.
- 54:34We talked about the Bronco.
- 54:36We talked about the Jeeps.
- 54:37We talked a little bit about the new Range Rover Defender that's coming
- 54:40out that I don't know anything about, but let's talk about off roading in
- 54:43general and something that you're not supposed to do when you go off roading.
- 54:47And one thing you're not supposed to do is drive down a hiking or bike trail.
- 54:51And in California, one driver figured that out the hard way.
- 54:56There's an article on The Drive about a California man, not a Florida man,
- 55:00or a Michigan man, or a South Dakota or Alberta man, that took his Jeep
- 55:05Wrangler, that looks fairly stock, you know, looking at it, looks like he's got
- 55:08big tires, and that's, you know, pretty much it, not too much else going on here.
- 55:12And he drove up a bike trail, uh, near Loma Linda on the, it
- 55:16looks like the West Ridge Trail.
- 55:18And there's a part of the trail where it gets super narrow and on either side of
- 55:22this what looks to be like it may be three or four foot trail, maybe five foot trail.
- 55:28It's just drop on either side.
- 55:31And this guy or girl, you know, there's off roading women as well.
- 55:35Got this car stuck.
- 55:36Freaked the F out and just rolled.
- 55:39Now there's a Jeep just parked on top of this bike trail on top of a mountain.
- 55:44Uh, and it's just there.
- 55:46Uh, so there's talk.
- 55:47How are we going to get it out?
- 55:48People have suggested use a helicopter.
- 55:50You know, and go in and lift it out.
- 55:52That's really the only way they could get a couple other G people to drive illegally
- 55:57to get to it and then try and haul it out.
- 55:59Anything like that is probably going to upset the balance and it's
- 56:02probably going to end up falling down.
- 56:03And if any winches attached, it's probably going to end up taking
- 56:06the recovery vehicle with it.
- 56:08So.
- 56:10If you're looking for a jeep and you're up for a challenge, please go to Loma
- 56:14Linda to the West Ridge bike trail and hiking trail and see if you can get one.
- 56:18As far as we know, it's still there.
- 56:20I can't wait when that guy gets the bill from the police having to
- 56:25helicopter that car out of there.
- 56:26That's going to be bonkers.
- 56:28I can't wait to see all the.
- 56:30Like stomping boot prints and everything from all the hikers
- 56:34that are mad that it's in their way because he's blocking the box.
- 56:38What are you talking about?
- 56:39The selfie potential here?
- 56:42True, true.
- 56:43I mean, who wants to take a trip with me to California?
- 56:50Moving on to a follow up update from the story we had last month about
- 56:55the stranded Jeep in California.
- 56:57Ford, you know, someone really intelligent at Ford decided to reach out to this Jeep
- 57:02owner and ask if he needed some help.
- 57:04Someone at Ford, you know, reached out, sent the guy an email and
- 57:07the guy confirmed that he was contacted by Ford and they were
- 57:10going to rescue the Jeep for him.
- 57:12He did not take them up on their offer and instead his Jeep was recovered by a
- 57:17huge group of Jeepers and people would pick up trucks and even in helicopter.
- 57:21Came out to get in on the fun.
- 57:23So Ford tried, it was a great publicity stunt.
- 57:25Had they been able to do it, but unfortunately the owner of the
- 57:28Jeep did not take them up on it.
- 57:29Well, I heard they, he turned them down because they offered to
- 57:32pull them out with a Bronco and he would have been too embarrassed.
- 57:35That allegedly they, they were talking about.
- 57:38Pulling them out with a Bronco, but I'm, I'm sure Ford probably would have
- 57:42sent some big tractor or something to go out there and get them or whatever.
- 57:45It would have been great for a photo op.
- 57:47It would have been excellent advertising had they been able to do it, but I
- 57:50guess they just, it wasn't in the cards.
- 57:52Regardless, someone give that man or woman at Ford a raise.
- 57:56Yes.
- 57:57Brilliant.
- 57:58Was it good?
- 57:58Hey, but was it going to be the Sasquatch edition?
- 58:01That's what I want to know, man.
- 58:03If they were really bold, they would have pulled out their test EB.
- 58:07F 150.
- 58:08That's right.
- 58:09Sent it.
- 58:12So speaking of cars falling off of things.
- 58:15Yes, so a Michigan man.
- 58:18Oh God.
- 58:19Back to the great state of Michigan, a 26 year old Michigan man pulled what
- 58:24reporters called a Dukes of Hazzard over the 4th Street drawbridge in Detroit.
- 58:31Reports say the bridge began to rise, the man gunned it in his Dodge
- 58:36sedan, it's unclear how wide the opening was at this point, but he
- 58:41nonetheless made it to the other side.
- 58:43Despite what one may have seen in the Dukes of Hazzard show.
- 58:47The man did not keep speeding away.
- 58:49He blew out all four tires on landing and then smashed into the
- 58:53safety gate on the other side.
- 58:57And his Dodge Stratus.
- 59:01Oh God.
- 59:02Well, that's why he blew everything out.
- 59:04He did it with the wrong car.
- 59:06He needed a charger.
- 59:07A hundred percent.
- 59:08Was it, or was it Stratus Orange?
- 59:11I was hoping there was more information on the car, but they
- 59:14just left it at Dodge Sedan.
- 59:16AKA Neon.
- 59:22Wait, do combines float?
- 59:25Oh my god.
- 59:27Next month, combine tried to be taken across Detroit drawbridge.
- 59:32The combine was used to pull the jeep off of the bike trail.
- 59:35So, I mean, it's again, it's all clipped.
- 59:37Oh wait, it wasn't California though.
- 59:39Dang.
- 59:40Alien abductions.
- 59:41It's, it's always aliens.
- 59:43Well, probably very little known.
- 59:47Nissan 300 ZX turbo commercial that unless you were watching the Super
- 59:53Bowl back in 1990, you probably missed this little gem because that
- 59:57was the first and the last time that that, uh, commercial was ever shown.
- 1:00:03And, and it's not because it was, you know, a terrible commercial.
- 1:00:08I mean, it's very bizarre, um, and maybe fit in with 1990.
- 1:00:15I don't know.
- 1:00:16I mean, it's, it's.
- 1:00:17It's this guy in his 300 ZX turbo, and he's dreaming.
- 1:00:23And for some unknown reason, he's on some random deserted desert
- 1:00:26road and he's being chased by a motorcycle and then some bizarre
- 1:00:30looking prototype and then a plane.
- 1:00:33And then, and then the plane is trying to catch him.
- 1:00:35But as he says.
- 1:00:38Just as they're about to catch me, the twin turbos kick in and he like
- 1:00:47skyrockets off some ramp or some crap like this, like off the hill in the road.
- 1:00:52I mean, it's bizarre.
- 1:00:54It makes zero sense.
- 1:00:55It's very dystopian, Mad Max ish.
- 1:00:58The reason why it was never, ever showed again is apparently
- 1:01:01the insurance Institute.
- 1:01:03got very upset, uh, because apparently it was, it was just glorifying speeding.
- 1:01:10And it's like, really, have you seen a car movie or any other car commercial?
- 1:01:17No, it just exemplified everything that Ridley Scott put his hands on.
- 1:01:22So if you've watched Aliens, if you've watched Um, Oh, why can't I think of the
- 1:01:28name of any new blade runner blade runner?
- 1:01:30Yes.
- 1:01:30If you've watched aliens, if you've watched blade runner, you, what you
- 1:01:34described dystopian makes no sense.
- 1:01:36The whole thing that is you've summarized everything he's ever put his hands on.
- 1:01:40So to me, when I saw this.
- 1:01:43I wasn't shocked, but I was.
- 1:01:46I was in awe of what I had seen though.
- 1:01:48So I recommend people definitely check it out.
- 1:01:51What they didn't show at the end of that video is after the twin turbos kick
- 1:01:56in, the motor blows up and at a crawl.
- 1:02:04It did remind me of the gentleman that jumped the bridge in Detroit last
- 1:02:08month as he came off of that ramp.
- 1:02:10I think all four tires were blown out and that motor was on the ground.
- 1:02:14Send it!
- 1:02:15I wonder how many 300ZX were destroyed in the making of that commercial, but anyway.
- 1:02:19Not enough.
- 1:02:21So last month we talked about our crazy northern neighbor who...
- 1:02:27Thought it was alright to, you know, recline the seat in your Tesla,
- 1:02:33stick that sucker in autopilot and just cruise on down the road.
- 1:02:38Well, there was a, the headline about watching a clip of a Tesla Model
- 1:02:413 failing an automatic emergency brake test that is hilarious.
- 1:02:45And so it caught my attention, of course, um, from our friends at Jalopnik.
- 1:02:48And so I clicked into it and it's really, I mean, it's, it's a little
- 1:02:51bit of clickbait, if you will, cause The whole self driving automatic
- 1:02:55braking is not a Tesla unique thing.
- 1:02:58Um, it's, it's across a lot of different manufacturers are trying
- 1:03:02to roll out this technology.
- 1:03:03Tesla really likes to beat their drum on it and claim a little bit
- 1:03:07falsely about how autonomous their quote self driving is when the, the
- 1:03:12fact of the matter is nobody has.
- 1:03:14100 percent autonomous self driving vehicles right now.
- 1:03:17The technology is not robust enough yet.
- 1:03:20And so obviously all these manufacturers have to do tests and whatnot.
- 1:03:24And, and, um, speaking of robots, they use dummies, um, that kind of.
- 1:03:30They got rails in the ground and they got a little dummy that like shoots
- 1:03:33across and there's a car coming and the car with these automatic
- 1:03:36brake features is supposed to stop.
- 1:03:38Right.
- 1:03:38But no, I mean, it's funny, poor dummy, you know, um, I
- 1:03:43mean, it obliterates the dummy.
- 1:03:44I mean, it looked like 10 pin bowling.
- 1:03:46I mean, it was like everywhere.
- 1:03:48I mean, and, and not to beat on Tesla because there was another.
- 1:03:52Clip or, or screenshot of a Honda, um, and it obliterated the dummy as well.
- 1:03:57So, I mean, it's not, again, it's not a Tesla only problem.
- 1:04:00It's a technology ready problem.
- 1:04:04I mean, it's not ready, but the article also interestingly had
- 1:04:08another video embedded in it.
- 1:04:10That is from the European new car assessment program, where they
- 1:04:14were doing a series of automatic break tests with Volkswagen,
- 1:04:18Mercedes, Volvo and Ford sedans.
- 1:04:21And they, and it was really, it was really interesting in video.
- 1:04:24Um, it makes you think.
- 1:04:25It makes your heart skip a beat sometimes, um, but they kind of did two
- 1:04:29tests, um, with each set of the cars.
- 1:04:31One was they had an adult mannequin, um, with an unobstructed view for the,
- 1:04:35for the car that crosses out in front of the path of the car and they tested, you
- 1:04:40know, whether the car stopped or not.
- 1:04:42In that scenario, none of the mannequins were struck.
- 1:04:47All the cars did stop.
- 1:04:49Um, however, if I had been in the car in that same situation, I would
- 1:04:55have stopped way earlier than what the automatic braking system did.
- 1:04:58Because I have eyes and a brain, or, you know, I don't know, maybe they're just
- 1:05:03programmed with a smaller tolerance.
- 1:05:05I personally wouldn't stop within inches of a human being,
- 1:05:09especially if I can see them.
- 1:05:10Like I would have already been slowing down and stop.
- 1:05:12So, I mean, there were.
- 1:05:13What I would have considered close calls all the cars basically panic stopped and I
- 1:05:18don't think if you know, if you're paying attention while driving and that's what
- 1:05:22you should be doing, you know, there's no reason to panic stop when you see
- 1:05:26a pedestrian crossing in front of you.
- 1:05:28Okay.
- 1:05:29Then they did the child.
- 1:05:31Test so they had a smaller mannequin and they had an obstructed view.
- 1:05:35So basically they parked a series of cars kind of as if you were going
- 1:05:39down a street and there were cars parked along along the curbing.
- 1:05:42And then, and then the child kind of came out from in front of those cars
- 1:05:45and cross the path of the test vehicle.
- 1:05:47Unfortunately, for the child mannequin, um, 1 of the multiple
- 1:05:51runs, they did with the Mercedes.
- 1:05:54The Mercedes struck the mannequin a little bit, didn't obliterate it.
- 1:05:57The leg just kind of fell off, which, I mean, in the real
- 1:06:01world, none of this is okay.
- 1:06:04Um, we're just kind of making light of it here, but, um,
- 1:06:07We just hit him a little bit.
- 1:06:09But you know what, but you know what is okay?
- 1:06:11playing it in slow motion while listening to chariots of fire.
- 1:06:15And then it becomes extremely entertaining.
- 1:06:18Um, so they didn't show any other impacts.
- 1:06:23So presumably the other test runs, um, were fine.
- 1:06:27The, none of the, the, the Volvo, um, the, the VW, they
- 1:06:32didn't hit any of the mannequins.
- 1:06:33I will say.
- 1:06:34From the footage, the VW appeared to stop with the largest gap in
- 1:06:38front of the mannequins versus the Volvo and the Mercedes.
- 1:06:41And I don't know why, for whatever reason, there was a Ford Fusion that
- 1:06:45was shown on the child obstructed view.
- 1:06:48Maybe it never stopped.
- 1:06:49And that's the reason.
- 1:06:50Hashtag cars and coffee.
- 1:06:51I don't know.
- 1:06:52So I've got a philosophical question for you.
- 1:06:55What do you think is easier, an easier problem to solve?
- 1:06:59Teaching these cars to stop for these obstructions using the LIDAR and
- 1:07:04the radar and whatever, or teaching these morons not to walk out into
- 1:07:09the street in front of a moving car.
- 1:07:11Which one do you think is easier?
- 1:07:13That is a very difficult question.
- 1:07:15I mean, it goes back to the whole joke about astronauts in space
- 1:07:21and writing instruments, right?
- 1:07:22We spent a gajillion dollars to design a pen that worked in zero gravity.
- 1:07:27And the Russians took pencils, right?
- 1:07:28It's the same simplicity principle.
- 1:07:31So yeah, I agree.
- 1:07:32We need to spend more time teaching people a, how to drive better and be
- 1:07:38to be more aware and get off of their phones and whatever, as they're walking
- 1:07:42around and kids are kids, right?
- 1:07:44Kids are hard being a parent.
- 1:07:46They're, they're, they're rambunctious.
- 1:07:47They are not aware.
- 1:07:49They, they think they're alone in their own little world
- 1:07:52in their own little bubble.
- 1:07:52So you have to be extra vigilant and extra careful, but as adults.
- 1:07:56If you don't know to look both ways, I don't know, there's a
- 1:08:00lot to be said there, right?
- 1:08:01You shouldn't be driving.
- 1:08:03You should be walking, you mean.
- 1:08:05Yeah, you shouldn't be driving or walking.
- 1:08:07You should be home in your bubble.
- 1:08:09But speaking of people that don't look ahead while they're driving.
- 1:08:12In Kentucky, Kentucky man or woman, we don't really know, decides to
- 1:08:17try and run over a nine foot tall snowman during a recent snowstorm.
- 1:08:22And what do you think happened?
- 1:08:25Who won?
- 1:08:26Frosty or the driver?
- 1:08:29I'm going to tell you Frosty won because Frosty had a secret weapon.
- 1:08:33He had wood.
- 1:08:34He was built over a tree stump in the middle of this guy's yard.
- 1:08:39And I don't know what happened.
- 1:08:41No, they never caught the, uh, the person affected by the instant karma.
- 1:08:45Um, but apparently this guy did not like this snowman, this nine foot
- 1:08:50tall snowman, and decided to try to take it out with a pick em up truck.
- 1:08:54And he lost.
- 1:08:55Dang.
- 1:08:56So, like, did he leave the truck there, damage the truck?
- 1:09:01Do we know?
- 1:09:01No, the owner of the property built the snowman in the morning, I guess, or the
- 1:09:06night before, and then went back after work, you know, the next night, and
- 1:09:10there was, the tree trunk was exposed.
- 1:09:13Frosty was still standing there, and there were truck marks or
- 1:09:16tire marks leading up to Frosty.
- 1:09:18Wow.
- 1:09:19Frosty won, though.
- 1:09:20I mean, I think the big question is...
- 1:09:23What compels a person, you know, but I think we'll leave that open ended for
- 1:09:28our listeners to answer for themselves.
- 1:09:30But you know, if you, if you've taken part in, in running over snowmen, I
- 1:09:35would be really curious to know why.
- 1:09:36So right, right in, you know, send me a DM on that one.
- 1:09:42So we would be remiss again, not having a Florida man to comment on.
- 1:09:49Oh boy.
- 1:09:50And of course, a headline like Florida man makes scooter with
- 1:09:54mop bucket and leaf blower.
- 1:09:56You
- 1:10:00have to click on that.
- 1:10:00I mean, it very well might be clickbait, but you have to click on it, right?
- 1:10:05Um, and so I did.
- 1:10:08Harley, take note.
- 1:10:09And okay, so first of all, I want to say.
- 1:10:14That leaf blower is forced induction.
- 1:10:17All right.
- 1:10:19That is some turbo charged action right there.
- 1:10:22Is it a Ryobi?
- 1:10:23Is it a Ryobi 18 volt?
- 1:10:26No, no, this, this is, this is horrible.
- 1:10:29Like video, there's a video to watch and I mean, definitely watch the video.
- 1:10:35Um, but this whole thing is absurd and it's.
- 1:10:38Fake.
- 1:10:38I mean, 100%, what a publicity stunt.
- 1:10:41Let's be real.
- 1:10:42There's so many things wrong.
- 1:10:44Why this isn't going to work.
- 1:10:46Um, I mean, the still images are freaking ridiculous.
- 1:10:49If you look at them and again, the video, I definitely recommend
- 1:10:53it, but let's walk through it.
- 1:10:56First of all, The video starts the man in it.
- 1:11:01We're talking like the yellow janitorial mop bucket, right?
- 1:11:04We've all seen them on castor wheels.
- 1:11:07Okay.
- 1:11:08The video starts the man takes his mop bucket and he dumps the water out from it.
- 1:11:14Then suddenly, though, the mop bucket.
- 1:11:17The caster wheels are gone.
- 1:11:18It's sitting on a skateboard.
- 1:11:19Okay.
- 1:11:21Next, the magic of Hollywood, magic of Hollywood.
- 1:11:24This is why this is all fake, but it gets better because next he's holding
- 1:11:29the leaf blower, which appears to me.
- 1:11:34To be in a plu to be a plug in electric type blower, okay?
- 1:11:41Okay, wasn't gas Wasn't battery, was no Ryobi, okay?
- 1:11:45No fucking DeWalt.
- 1:11:47He pull starts it and you have sound effects as if
- 1:11:51there's a gas engine running.
- 1:11:52Okay, n n nothing started when he, whenever he pulled, okay?
- 1:11:58Now, the umbrella.
- 1:11:59He's holding an umbrella out in front of him.
- 1:12:03Unless this is a NASA developed umbrella.
- 1:12:06Okay, have y'all ever used an umbrella in the wind?
- 1:12:10It takes approximately 2.
- 1:12:120 seconds for it to flip the other way when there's, um, a little bit of wind.
- 1:12:18So how the hell is he, uh, if the leaf blower was even running,
- 1:12:22how is the umbrella even stable?
- 1:12:24Okay, I call bullshit.
- 1:12:27All right.
- 1:12:28I think we found a new form of racing here.
- 1:12:31And then, and then maybe, but, and then, this just cheap, like, Wal Mart
- 1:12:37brand looking electric plug in blower that's operating off magic right now,
- 1:12:43because it's not plugged into anything.
- 1:12:46How the hell do you expect it to, to propel a 200 pound some odd man or
- 1:12:51something across the road when you can barely sometimes push leaf clippings
- 1:12:57or grass clippings in your yard with the leaf blower, but yet he propelled
- 1:13:01himself with the leaf blower that's not plugged in with the umbrella.
- 1:13:05I mean, Florida, you don't need to make the stuff up.
- 1:13:09It already comes naturally.
- 1:13:12But thank you.
- 1:13:13Nonetheless, I mean, it was, it's amusing.
- 1:13:15I mean, watch it.
- 1:13:16I mean, Every time I look at this, it just gets worse and worse and worse.
- 1:13:24Stop poking holes.
- 1:13:26I mean, the still pictures, you're like, okay.
- 1:13:28And then you watch the little, the video and you're like, yeah, okay.
- 1:13:31I mean, great job.
- 1:13:33Fun video.
- 1:13:33Oh, I'm sure people were staring at you.
- 1:13:36Florida man does Florida man things.
- 1:13:39Exactly.
- 1:13:40Well, let's talk about Michigan men.
- 1:13:42Because they're a special breed too.
- 1:13:45I've got to say, move over Toyota Hilux because the terrorists of the
- 1:13:49world have a new preferred vehicle.
- 1:13:51It is the PT Cruiser.
- 1:13:53There's a video out there posted on Jalopnik on October 19th of a
- 1:13:58group of terrorists in Michigan.
- 1:14:01They're called the Wolverine Watchmen and they were developing a plan to
- 1:14:06kidnap the governor of Michigan.
- 1:14:08I guess they have, you know, differing political views and they thought
- 1:14:12the best way to handle it was to instead of getting out there and
- 1:14:15vote, they would get out there and kidnap and their vehicle of choice.
- 1:14:19Was a PT cruiser.
- 1:14:20The video is actually quite interesting.
- 1:14:22These men are getting out.
- 1:14:24I guess they're doing some sort of military drill where they drive
- 1:14:27up and they stop the BT cruiser.
- 1:14:29They get out of all four doors and they just start shooting into somewhere.
- 1:14:33I don't know where they're just wasting ammo for the sake of wasting ammo.
- 1:14:37But yeah, so Toyota Hilux is no longer the preferred vehicle of terrorists.
- 1:14:42It's the PT cruiser.
- 1:14:43Did you get rid of the dude filming himself shooting?
- 1:14:46Oh, cause that would have gone so well with this.
- 1:14:51I wonder if that Kentucky man had a differing political view with snowmen.
- 1:14:56Maybe.
- 1:14:57Global warming.
- 1:15:02Oh my god.
- 1:15:04Alright, back, let's go back down south to Florida for a hot second.
- 1:15:08So, Florida man and woman, quote, obviously racing.
- 1:15:13So it was reported that two people were traveling at high rates
- 1:15:17of speed in and out of traffic and trying to pass each other.
- 1:15:20Now I'm going to ask, gentlemen, let's have some guesses here.
- 1:15:23Now we don't know what the woman was driving or the man was
- 1:15:26driving, but what two cars do you think were involved in this?
- 1:15:32Obviously, racing scenario.
- 1:15:34Oh, one of them has to be a 1999 Dodge Caravan.
- 1:15:43I am thinking a Pontiac Sunfire with one headlight and a dent in
- 1:15:50the passenger door and then A Dodge Intrepid with the other headlight out.
- 1:15:57It's gonna be, it's gonna be a, it's gonna be a late 90s, early
- 1:16:012000s Corolla Automatic and a, I'm thinking they're, they're obviously
- 1:16:11racing on the highway and an HHR just because I want it to be an HHR.
- 1:16:17I actually think it's a Cadillac Cimarron.
- 1:16:21And a Cadillac Cimarron.
- 1:16:25Ha ha ha ha!
- 1:16:26You found the last two in existence!
- 1:16:28Beck Racer Cimarron.
- 1:16:30Now, do you think that Cimarron can get over 100 miles an hour?
- 1:16:33Doubtful.
- 1:16:34100 kilometers per hour.
- 1:16:36Ha ha!
- 1:16:38So, they were traveling in speeds of excess of 100 miles an hour, apparently.
- 1:16:42I think you will be surprised with the two cars, based on your
- 1:16:46guesses, that were dead wrong.
- 1:16:47It was, in fact...
- 1:16:50A Yugo.
- 1:16:52A 1991 Eagle Talon at 108 miles an hour and a 2013 Subaru
- 1:17:03Impreza at 117 miles an hour.
- 1:17:05I, I, you know what?
- 1:17:07You know what?
- 1:17:08Mad props to the Eagle Talent.
- 1:17:11That's all I'm going to say.
- 1:17:12For still running.
- 1:17:13Right?
- 1:17:16That's the true gem of this story, was the Eagle Talent.
- 1:17:19100%.
- 1:17:20Because the 117 is not impressive with the Subaru.
- 1:17:23That's actually pretty sad.
- 1:17:24But that Eagle, that's good stuff right there.
- 1:17:27Especially for early 90s.
- 1:17:29Which person was driving which?
- 1:17:30We don't know.
- 1:17:31They didn't say.
- 1:17:32I think the woman was driving the Talon.
- 1:17:34I'm with you on that.
- 1:17:36I don't know why, but I am.
- 1:17:39And on that.
- 1:17:41So, um, so we'll round out the last two with a little bit lighter, um,
- 1:17:47less, less serious and fun things.
- 1:17:49So I learned very recently that apparently Shaq, Mr.
- 1:17:55Shaquille O'Neal, is going to be executive producer and star in an animated
- 1:18:01comedy for kids called Shaq's Garage.
- 1:18:05So I really didn't know that apparently Shaq must be a bit of a car
- 1:18:09enthusiast, so, so interesting to him.
- 1:18:11Um, the show follows the secret adventures of the NBA legends collection
- 1:18:15of animated cars and trucks, all of which have unique abilities from
- 1:18:19super spying to language to music.
- 1:18:22Shaq.
- 1:18:22The lead vehicle is named Big Diesel and will be voiced by Shaq.
- 1:18:26Through comedy and adventure, the show will showcase strong and
- 1:18:30diverse characters as positive role models with purposeful storytelling.
- 1:18:34This is going to be a special show that touches every button, music,
- 1:18:38adventure, humor, and positive, prideful messaging for kids.
- 1:18:42That's kind of nice.
- 1:18:43So hopefully, and from the animation, it actually looks a lot, um, very much
- 1:18:47like cars, the, the cartoon movie.
- 1:18:51Um, so I mean, it's nice to, to see something that it's, it's
- 1:18:54fun and positive messaging in the world, especially for little kids.
- 1:18:58I hope he's successful with that endeavor.
- 1:19:01Um, and did you want, I was going to say, no, go continue your thought.
- 1:19:05No, go ahead.
- 1:19:08So to Shaq's credit, I actually wrote about him in an article right after,
- 1:19:14uh, season two of car masters came out the rust to riches, uh, series
- 1:19:19there, which was Eric, sorry, season two of car masters, which is known
- 1:19:23as the upgrade and trade season.
- 1:19:25And they talked about a kit car known as the Vader.
- 1:19:29Which is built on a G35 infinity shack happens to own one of those.
- 1:19:34So, and I actually have a picture of him in his Vader in that article.
- 1:19:37So I think he is a bit of a car guy.
- 1:19:40Um, obviously that's a specialty car.
- 1:19:43It's obviously a kit car, but I would be very curious to know
- 1:19:46what else is in Shaq's garage.
- 1:19:48So kind of cool to know that he is a bit of a petrol head.
- 1:19:50Did they say where this.
- 1:19:52Show is going to be, I guess, broadcast.
- 1:19:56I didn't see it.
- 1:19:57I didn't, I don't think I saw a car to network with a K cartoon
- 1:20:01channel, cartoon with a K.
- 1:20:03So I do not know where that is.
- 1:20:05What, what service that is, or, I mean, I'd check it out.
- 1:20:08It sounds fun to me.
- 1:20:10It does, but let's talk about real fun because we are getting.
- 1:20:14dangerously close to Halloween.
- 1:20:15Yes, we are.
- 1:20:16We are at time of this recording, fast approaching the witching hour,
- 1:20:20otherwise known as Halloween, and 2020 has been quite the year so far and
- 1:20:25unfortunately I think threatens typical Halloween trick or treating and other
- 1:20:29activities all across the country.
- 1:20:32Um, and if you recall a few months ago, we reported on a drive through Halloween
- 1:20:36experience that was coming to Florida.
- 1:20:46And we have one more piece of random news before we close out the...
- 1:20:50It's a future Florida Man story.
- 1:20:53Yes, this is.
- 1:20:54Folks, we are going back to Florida on this one.
- 1:20:58I could not pass up this article when I saw the headline.
- 1:21:02It's new drive thru Halloween experience coming to Orlando this fall.
- 1:21:07And I'm just going to go and quote directly the Orlando Weekly.
- 1:21:12At a time when most Halloween events are cancelling on 2020 completely, a group
- 1:21:16of Central Florida creatives is hosting a drive thru experience to scare the crap
- 1:21:20out of you in the safety of your own car.
- 1:21:24The, quote, Haunted Road bills itself as Orlando's first
- 1:21:27immersive, completely contactless drive thru Halloween experience.
- 1:21:32They plan to tell an original theatrical story through twisted
- 1:21:35creatures and, quote, unexpected scares in every drive thru scene.
- 1:21:40I love this.
- 1:21:42And I am extremely worried about the execution of this.
- 1:21:48If there's one thing that I loved, or that I love, it's being scared while
- 1:21:54behind the wheels of an automobile.
- 1:21:56I just love that.
- 1:21:57It's just amazing.
- 1:21:58I can't wait for the Florida Man stories to come out of this.
- 1:22:02I mean, how many, what's the over under on how many people are going
- 1:22:05to get killed in crowd control?
- 1:22:07It's going to look like that groupie rally documentary that I watched.
- 1:22:11And then, some genius, because you're probably going to do this with your
- 1:22:14headlights off, is going to have a candle in their car, because they
- 1:22:17can't see where the hell they're going.
- 1:22:20So it's a win across the board.
- 1:22:23Stay tuned, folks, for more, more on this story.
- 1:22:25I can't even imagine.
- 1:22:26All I know is that when I, I like Haunted Houses and Haunted
- 1:22:29Forests and all those things.
- 1:22:30Sign me up.
- 1:22:31I won't watch a scary movie, but I will walk through a Haunted Forest.
- 1:22:35It makes complete sense.
- 1:22:37But I will say that I instinctually take off running at the sound of chainsaws.
- 1:22:42So I do not know what would happen if I'm in my car and I
- 1:22:46hear a bunch of chainsaws going.
- 1:22:47And it's just.
- 1:22:48Oh, I know what would happen.
- 1:22:49It would look like, you ever see those Florida flea markets, where
- 1:22:53the guy, like, drives right in there?
- 1:22:57I mean, I'm sorry.
- 1:22:58It's not funny, but it is.
- 1:23:01I mean, I, I sincerely hope that it goes off safely and it's a great production.
- 1:23:06It could be a lot of fun.
- 1:23:08I'm waiting for the YouTube videos on this one.
- 1:23:10I am ecstatic.
- 1:23:11Well, I, I don't think this is something that I can go to.
- 1:23:14Being somebody that has been thrown out of a Six Flags.
- 1:23:17for pushing somebody at one of these Halloween events.
- 1:23:21Uh, I probably will not be going to this
- 1:23:33Oh, yeah, folks, it is here and it's still running through November 7th.
- 1:23:38So if you find yourself in or are from Orlando area, the Orlando area.
- 1:23:44You know, go check this out.
- 1:23:45It seems like it's probably going to be a pretty cool thing.
- 1:23:48Um, there's no bad things to report here.
- 1:23:50Just reporting on this, you know, um, this activity.
- 1:23:54So just want to give a shout out to what seems like a really cool idea.
- 1:23:57Wish I could go on something like this.
- 1:23:59Um, I love haunted houses and Halloween and all that.
- 1:24:02Um, it looks pretty cool.
- 1:24:03That's it.
- 1:24:04I will say looking back, we did make fun of it a little bit, but.
- 1:24:07Putting on our COVID goggles, this drive through trick or treat Halloween
- 1:24:12experience makes a lot of sense.
- 1:24:14And I will say, tune in to our November drive through for Florida
- 1:24:19Man Runs Over Vampire and Werewolf.
- 1:24:24I was curious.
- 1:24:25I did go on their website, thehauntedroad.
- 1:24:28com, and you can, and they list kind of out all their safety features
- 1:24:31and this, that, and the other.
- 1:24:32And so basically, Um, they've, I think they've thought of that.
- 1:24:36So they said that as you're driving the car through this attraction, um, nobody
- 1:24:41is going to be interacting with you.
- 1:24:43So it's kind of like a point A to B to C to D kind of thing.
- 1:24:45And then you kind of drive up to the, the scene or the scenario or whatever.
- 1:24:51And then that's where the interaction happens in your car to put your car
- 1:24:53in park and this, that, and the other.
- 1:24:55And, and while you're moving from one, um, checkpoint or scene to the
- 1:25:00next, you, you, the speed limit is five miles an hour and all this stuff.
- 1:25:03And all the performers are, are wearing masks and complying with, you know, um,
- 1:25:09COVID recommendations and same thing.
- 1:25:11If you're in your car and your windows are up.
- 1:25:13You're fine.
- 1:25:13If you have your windows down, they ask that you do also
- 1:25:15please wear masks, etc, etc.
- 1:25:17So apparently there's also a, like, super scary experience for.
- 1:25:23Um, like certain age group or whatever that costs like way extra.
- 1:25:27So I'm not sure what you're getting out of that, but it's,
- 1:25:29it's, it's called carjacking.
- 1:25:31That's what I know.
- 1:25:33It's like an extra 80 bucks or something to go on like the
- 1:25:36ultimate experience or something.
- 1:25:38I'm like, Whoa, it's to pay the tow truck driver.
- 1:25:41So you can get it at a Hawk later.
- 1:25:43Yeah.
- 1:25:43I don't know.
- 1:25:44I want to throw out a challenge to any of our listeners who may be in
- 1:25:47that area who decide to go to this.
- 1:25:49Please put a GoPro on the top of your car.
- 1:25:51We would love to see footage from it.
- 1:25:53A hundred percent.
- 1:25:54A hundred percent.
- 1:25:55Well, folks, it's time to wrap things up.
- 1:25:58Our last Florida man on here actually isn't a Florida man, but a Michigan woman
- 1:26:03who sets her boyfriend's Jeep on fire.
- 1:26:06I'd say Ex-boyfriend.
- 1:26:09Yes.
- 1:26:10At this point, uh, I, I do believe that would be accurate.
- 1:26:13I also think, um, you know that this one could be retitled.
- 1:26:17Michigan woman reenacts waiting to exhale an apartment parking lot.
- 1:26:22I'm gonna go out on a limb here.
- 1:26:24Angela Bassett fan has the waiting to exhale DVD extended cut.
- 1:26:30And she's not too big on science.
- 1:26:33Uh, you know, thankfully no one was seriously injured.
- 1:26:35The boyfriend was not, or the ex boyfriend, was not in
- 1:26:38the car, was not in the jeep.
- 1:26:41Um, I mean, the arsonist no doubt bumps and bruises and some
- 1:26:44burns, um, but nothing that was reported as life threatening.
- 1:26:48Did they use a candle?
- 1:26:52There's a comments team here.
- 1:26:56I mean, if you haven't seen the video, because somebody in, like,
- 1:26:59the, uh, another apartment building just videoed the whole thing on their
- 1:27:03phone, so it's, it's, it's spectacular.
- 1:27:05It's definitely a what did I just watch moment.
- 1:27:08It's out there, go look at it.
- 1:27:09I mean, she doused the interior of the Jeep with gasoline and then she sticks
- 1:27:15a stick lighter Inside to light it, presumably thinking that it's just going
- 1:27:21to gently light, maybe like the candle.
- 1:27:24That's what the movies show us.
- 1:27:25The movies show us the gasoline lights nice and slow and just takes a trail.
- 1:27:30Yeah, no, except in reality what happens is all those, the vapors ignite first.
- 1:27:35They create a blast that sends you.
- 1:27:39Rocketing into the parked, uh, car that's right next to
- 1:27:43the Jeep as is what happened.
- 1:27:44She slammed into it like WWE.
- 1:27:47I mean, it was incredible.
- 1:27:49I mean, she quickly picked up all our things and scampered
- 1:27:53off as the video showed.
- 1:27:55Um, craziness in Michigan.
- 1:28:00Florida man, Michigan woman.
- 1:28:01There you go.
- 1:28:03So speaking of craziness, I think now it's time for us to order
- 1:28:06up a side of Golden Nuggets.
- 1:28:08What do you guys think?
- 1:28:09Anyway, so that was that was fun the hits keep on coming the hits keep
- 1:28:14on coming Anyway, oh that is just wow so much florida so much florida
