- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with on our radio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Happy Finale Week of the Golden Bachelorette. We are here
- 0:09Speaker 2: today to break down the finale of Joon's amazing season
- 0:13Speaker 2: of The Golden Bachelorette. Joan thrives, Joan looks beautiful, But
- 0:18Speaker 2: the big question going into this episode was did Joan
- 0:21Speaker 2: find love?
- 0:22Speaker 3: Ashley, good morning.
- 0:25Speaker 4: Good morning. It's a little early for us, but I'm fine.
- 0:29Speaker 4: Guess what this was? This is my announcement. Guess the
- 0:34Speaker 4: least dramatic finale of all time? Would you gury? Here's
- 0:40Speaker 4: no stakes.
- 0:42Speaker 2: This could have been a ten minute episode and it
- 0:43Speaker 2: would have been beautiful. I don't want to take anything
- 0:47Speaker 2: from the what I think will be a very healthy, exciting,
- 0:51Speaker 2: loving couple, and we're very excited for them here.
- 0:55Speaker 3: But it could have been a ten minute episode.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Yeah, and actually it kind of felt like a ten
- 0:59Speaker 4: minute episode because when I recapped it in my brain,
- 1:02Speaker 4: I was just like, dump Sky gets engaged.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I wonder, actually, if we take away the live TV portion,
- 1:11Speaker 2: if how much we saw them together was actually maybe
- 1:14Speaker 2: like twenty minutes.
- 1:16Speaker 4: They could have extended like the meet and greet with
- 1:19Speaker 4: the family or the date that.
- 1:21Speaker 2: They had some then well that's where I want to
- 1:25Speaker 2: start breaking down this episode. Obviously, Joan's family flies into
- 1:30Speaker 2: experience this week with Joan, They're gonna meet the two
- 1:33Speaker 2: guys remaining. This is a really fun time I think
- 1:37Speaker 2: for the family because they've gotten to watch Joan or.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Not get the watch. They've gotten to sit.
- 1:43Speaker 2: At home and wait for Joan for the last few months,
- 1:47Speaker 2: and now they actually get to kind of dive into
- 1:49Speaker 2: the process, catch up with her, make sure she's healthy
- 1:52Speaker 2: and happy, and then meet the guys that she's falling
- 1:55Speaker 2: in love with, and then also have a lot of
- 1:57Speaker 2: fun while you're doing it.
- 1:58Speaker 3: It's like a big family vacation in a lot of ways.
- 2:01Speaker 4: I know, I know. I was just thinking about their flight, though,
- 2:04Speaker 4: I don't know. I get so stressed for other people flying.
- 2:07Speaker 4: I'm just like, no, Bori Bora is beautiful, but is
- 2:12Speaker 4: it worth a sixty hour fly?
- 2:16Speaker 3: Have you been to bor Bora?
- 2:18Speaker 4: No? Have you?
- 2:19Speaker 3: No? Never?
- 2:20Speaker 4: It's actually number one on my vacation list. Like I'd
- 2:23Speaker 4: like to go to Paris and England and like well
- 2:28Speaker 4: to the Netherlands with my family because my mom's touch.
- 2:31Speaker 4: But like as far as a vacation, lie outside every day.
- 2:36Speaker 4: I wanted to go to bor bar number one.
- 2:39Speaker 2: I mean it looks I mean, so last night, Yesica
- 2:42Speaker 2: and I watched this together. She was was actually our anniversary.
- 2:46Speaker 2: So this is what we did in our niversary.
- 2:49Speaker 4: The fastest three years of our lives.
- 2:51Speaker 3: I know, isn't that crazy?
- 2:53Speaker 4: Happy universary?
- 2:56Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 2:56Speaker 2: I've been gone all week. I got home last night.
- 2:59Speaker 2: She got home really late from work. We're going to
- 3:01Speaker 2: celebrate our anniversary at some date to be determined, and
- 3:04Speaker 2: we will.
- 3:05Speaker 3: I'll make sure of it and she'll make sure of it.
- 3:07Speaker 2: But last night we're like, you know what, we're both tired,
- 3:09Speaker 2: we've been gone. Let's just turn on the show and
- 3:13Speaker 2: watch it because I've got to do the show tomorrow.
- 3:17Speaker 3: And so we watch this.
- 3:18Speaker 2: In one of the first takeaways, and I always like
- 3:20Speaker 2: hearing Jessica's opinion because she doesn't really watch the show,
- 3:22Speaker 2: and so it's always a new and fresh opinion, it
- 3:25Speaker 2: was can you believe? Yeah, she is, I mean, she
- 3:29Speaker 2: gives us great input. And she said, can you believe
- 3:31Speaker 2: how beautiful that water is? Is a gorgeous place.
- 3:34Speaker 4: That's what I was thinking.
- 3:35Speaker 3: And then her second question to me Ashley. Which comes
- 3:39Speaker 3: up at this point is why is Joan on a boat?
- 3:43Speaker 4: They just had her to go on a boat as
- 3:44Speaker 4: if it was the mode of transportation to go to her.
- 3:47Speaker 3: She was living on a boat.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Yeah, they were on a cruise. Yeah. Yeah. The last
- 3:52Speaker 4: week they kind of they lightly established that. It was like,
- 3:56Speaker 4: why I like it because I'm a cruiser.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I mean, guys, home was gorgeous and looked like paradise.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Joan, it looked nice. I'm not gonna say I mean a.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Guy was living in another location. Yeah, I thought they
- 4:13Speaker 4: were all on the boat.
- 4:14Speaker 3: No, he was. He was inland.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Okay, Now that's a little strange, but it was. We
- 4:20Speaker 4: know it was an ad It was good. I don't
- 4:22Speaker 4: remember wind was it Woodmere Cruises?
- 4:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think it was beautiful. It works.
- 4:28Speaker 2: I would love to go on a cruise. Love cruises.
- 4:30Speaker 2: It just was a little awkward that she had a
- 4:32Speaker 2: cruise boat parked there and it never moved and she
- 4:37Speaker 2: we just see all these scenes of her on.
- 4:39Speaker 3: This cruise boat. Hey, not the biggest part of.
- 4:41Speaker 2: The story, Chalk is meeting the family for the first time, Ashley.
- 4:48Speaker 2: So that's how we kind of kick off this episode.
- 4:52Speaker 2: The I think the theme that we could say was
- 4:55Speaker 2: going on throughout this meeting was that Joan is still
- 5:00Speaker 2: I think she wants her kid's approval on her moving
- 5:03Speaker 2: forward with somebody, because I think at this point we
- 5:05Speaker 2: probably know she wants to move forward with somebody and
- 5:08Speaker 2: she has yet to get their approval on moving forward
- 5:11Speaker 2: past her you know, late husband John.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Well, she's like, yes, this is the first time she's
- 5:17Speaker 4: introducing somebody, so like obviously that those feelings are going
- 5:21Speaker 4: to come up. But they did approve her quote quote
- 5:24Speaker 4: for being the Golden Bachelorette, so you know they're down
- 5:27Speaker 4: for her moving on.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I think there was my biggest question was how is
- 5:31Speaker 2: Chalking to handle it? Handle it? You know, he's been
- 5:35Speaker 2: very intentional with Joan since the beginning. I mean we
- 5:38Speaker 2: kind of saw it during this recap with I'm Crazy
- 5:42Speaker 2: about You.
- 5:42Speaker 3: It was like a lot he was.
- 5:43Speaker 4: Oh my god, there was sobut it.
- 5:46Speaker 2: He was very into her, So I personally was not
- 5:50Speaker 2: concerned or wondering. I guess would be the better way
- 5:52Speaker 2: to say that for him if he would be a
- 5:55Speaker 2: little too pushy or kind of strong, too strong to
- 6:00Speaker 2: the kids, like be like, hey, I call me daddy
- 6:04Speaker 2: kind of thing. He didn't at that point, I figure
- 6:13Speaker 2: at that point, I was one hundred percent sure he
- 6:14Speaker 2: was the one being chosen because he did so well
- 6:17Speaker 2: walking through that and saying, I don't want to replace
- 6:20Speaker 2: your dad. You know, it's going to be a big
- 6:25Speaker 2: shoes to fill kind of stuff. But he was very
- 6:28Speaker 2: conscious about, hey, we got to celebrate the two people
- 6:31Speaker 2: that came, you know, into our lives earlier, and then
- 6:36Speaker 2: also just have a lot of fun in the future.
- 6:38Speaker 2: He said the right things that he's never said all season.
- 6:40Speaker 2: That's all close this up is he said the right
- 6:42Speaker 2: things that he's never said all season, Like what I
- 6:44Speaker 2: really want with Joan is to have adventure and have
- 6:46Speaker 2: fun and to like celebrate the rest of my life
- 6:49Speaker 2: with her. It felt like all of a sudden, he
- 6:54Speaker 2: became the Pascal, and he became the Jonathan.
- 6:58Speaker 3: He became himself.
- 7:00Speaker 4: It's a little bit more. Yeah, yeah, what did you
- 7:04Speaker 4: think about the sun? He was very He like had
- 7:08Speaker 4: the look of judgment, which was hilarious. But then like
- 7:11Speaker 4: it turns out that he liked he really liked him.
- 7:14Speaker 4: He just seems to be taking over as the protective
- 7:17Speaker 4: figure in the family.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Yeah, sure, what I think.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I think at first, I thought, oh, this is going
- 7:21Speaker 2: to be bad, like this kid, this poor son is
- 7:23Speaker 2: going to be protective. It is going to come off
- 7:25Speaker 2: really weird, and he's going to be weirded out by it.
- 7:28Speaker 2: He loosened up over time, he did. I think what
- 7:31Speaker 2: I got from him just watching him is he really
- 7:34Speaker 2: just doesn't want to be there. He was like, I,
- 7:36Speaker 2: this is stupid. I just got off of sixteen hour
- 7:38Speaker 2: flight and that you're now telling me my mom's going
- 7:41Speaker 2: to send the other guy home tomorrow and I have
- 7:42Speaker 2: to leave in two days. Like this is stupid. I
- 7:45Speaker 2: am so mad that I came again.
- 7:47Speaker 4: I was just thinking, like, I really hope they let
- 7:49Speaker 4: them vacation a little bit. Well while there after that, I.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Think, I think there's a lot going on in his
- 7:54Speaker 2: head behind the scenes. And he was like, I'm happy
- 7:56Speaker 2: for you mom, Like this is great. This guy seems good.
- 7:59Speaker 2: He's fine. You just made me fly sixteen hours for
- 8:02Speaker 2: two days, Like I want to. I want to yell
- 8:06Speaker 2: you on national television, but I can't.
- 8:10Speaker 4: Hey, Ben, the one thing we didn't talk about that
- 8:12Speaker 4: happened earlier in this episode that I must talk to
- 8:14Speaker 4: you about is that they like started her up with
- 8:17Speaker 4: the whole maybe I'm unlovable storyline, and since you are
- 8:21Speaker 4: the owner of that storyline, why did they do this?
- 8:23Speaker 4: This was never something that she felt. It's a ridiculous
- 8:27Speaker 4: you've been married for you were married for so long,
- 8:30Speaker 4: you have children, You're very much lovable, just as you
- 8:33Speaker 4: were very much lovable. But she said that when Pascal
- 8:36Speaker 4: said he didn't love me, it hurt her to the end.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Then she thought that you think it was made up,
- 8:41Speaker 4: don't you. They were like, oh, let's like throw a
- 8:43Speaker 4: bud storyline in here really quick for a little drama,
- 8:46Speaker 4: because it's the least ramatic episode ever.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Can I say this, Actually, I need to get residuals,
- 8:53Speaker 2: I need to get paid.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I love you to two the people and.
- 8:56Speaker 2: This yeah, because then we see Grant season preview. He's
- 9:00Speaker 2: standing there like, I don't know who to choose, and
- 9:03Speaker 2: Jesse's like, we have them waiting, you know, let us
- 9:06Speaker 2: know who we need to send first.
- 9:08Speaker 3: So he's obviously in love with two people.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Every single lead since season twenty has been in the
- 9:14Speaker 2: love of two people. And now last night I looked
- 9:16Speaker 2: at it when Jones said, I said, no, I suggest
- 9:19Speaker 2: that's my thing. I Yeah, I don't know. And for me,
- 9:27Speaker 2: it's been such a like pivotal moment, like for me
- 9:31Speaker 2: personally changed book. I wrote a whole book about it.
- 9:34Speaker 2: It enhanced the way I saw myself and I saw
- 9:38Speaker 2: the world night.
- 9:39Speaker 3: And so.
- 9:40Speaker 2: My first thought is, I'm if that is true for Joan,
- 9:44Speaker 2: then I am glad that she is able to admit
- 9:47Speaker 2: it openly if that is not true, and the show
- 9:51Speaker 2: pride to get something out of her to make this
- 9:56Speaker 2: episode a little more dramatic, a little more you know,
- 10:00Speaker 2: a little more confusing. Uh, that's sad, it diminishes the story.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I think it was probably one of those
- 10:08Speaker 4: moments where she's in the interview room and she's crying.
- 10:11Speaker 4: She's obviously very upset that Pascal left, who I believe
- 10:14Speaker 4: was number two in her heart. And then somebody was
- 10:18Speaker 4: probably like, how did that make you feel? Like? Did
- 10:21Speaker 4: it make you feel like maybe you're unlovable?
- 10:24Speaker 3: And then she says it kind of did, and they said, so,
- 10:26Speaker 3: do you feel unlovable? And she was, I feel unlovable?
- 10:30Speaker 4: Yeah, And then all of a sudden she's just saying
- 10:32Speaker 4: this to Nancy and she's probably taking a step back
- 10:35Speaker 4: a couple of days later and being like, why the
- 10:38Speaker 4: hell did I say that?
- 10:39Speaker 3: Yeah, that didn't make any sense. Yeah, I don't know.
- 10:42Speaker 2: I mean, goodness, I said that, which was a very
- 10:48Speaker 2: like real true moment, unexpected, not even coerced. And then I,
- 10:52Speaker 2: you know, obviously have the two I love yous. At
- 10:56Speaker 2: some point residuals would be appreciated. I mean, I got
- 11:00Speaker 2: a family to raise. This is a father talking about
- 11:04Speaker 2: future future father. So that was a big deal, and
- 11:09Speaker 2: it was great to see Nancy come though. I do
- 11:11Speaker 2: think Nancy was probably a just love her. Yeah, she's
- 11:15Speaker 2: such a great just a great human carrying you know,
- 11:19Speaker 2: she's a great listener. Again, though, let's give Nancy credit
- 11:23Speaker 2: on a sixteen hour flight for probably I bet this
- 11:26Speaker 2: show gave her a day, Like they probably flew her
- 11:30Speaker 2: in and flew her out.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Well, no, because she was in last week's episode. I
- 11:34Speaker 4: don't know if you saw it because Jared was here,
- 11:37Speaker 4: but she had two episodes few so at least she
- 11:41Speaker 4: was there for three days.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right, that's true.
- 11:45Speaker 2: It's still it's rushed, but Nancy's amazing and she is
- 11:49Speaker 2: a great, I mean, the perfect person for Joan to
- 11:52Speaker 2: confide in Actually I didn't get this since through this
- 11:56Speaker 2: whole entire episode that Joan was ever going to leave
- 11:58Speaker 2: this thing single.
- 12:00Speaker 3: I know that.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Was something they were kind of right, I know, And
- 12:05Speaker 2: I think that's why the drama of this episode never
- 12:08Speaker 2: felt strong. It was never dramatic, because even though they
- 12:15Speaker 2: tried really hard to kind of do what they do
- 12:17Speaker 2: every finale, which was like, is anybody gonna get chosen?
- 12:19Speaker 2: Is the league gonna get chosen? Is somebody gonna go
- 12:22Speaker 2: home early? That kind of stuff that you always have
- 12:24Speaker 2: going on in your head. It they tried, it just
- 12:28Speaker 2: didn't work. I think the whole time, we knew that
- 12:31Speaker 2: she was going to be leaving with somebody, and it
- 12:35Speaker 2: felt very much for the last goodness month and a
- 12:39Speaker 2: half that it was.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Going to be Chock.
- 12:43Speaker 4: No, I don know ever, since he left to go
- 12:45Speaker 4: to his mom's, you know, to figure out his mom's arrangements. Yeah,
- 12:50Speaker 4: we pretty much knew it was Chock. And also the
- 12:55Speaker 4: fact that like, not only was he so obviously the
- 12:59Speaker 4: one that she was into, the person that she was
- 13:02Speaker 4: like into second was just so far apart in feelings,
- 13:07Speaker 4: and I think that person actually was, Like I said earlier,
- 13:11Speaker 4: Pascal and I think because Pascal left, she was up
- 13:14Speaker 4: a guy who was technically her third choice, so that
- 13:16Speaker 4: it was like a no brainer and they couldn't even
- 13:17Speaker 4: fake the drama.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Yeah, and I mean it's it's sad to watch.
- 13:24Speaker 2: I think it's really hard to watch the Golden Bachelor
- 13:27Speaker 2: Bachelor atte show because the emotions seem so raw, and
- 13:33Speaker 2: they also seem in a sense foreign to a lot
- 13:37Speaker 2: of these people, especially the men. It doesn't feel like
- 13:39Speaker 2: Guy cries often like he did there. It felt like
- 13:45Speaker 2: it came from a very hurt place, and so that
- 13:49Speaker 2: was difficult to watch.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Actually, I do have a question for you.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Though we obviously see the breakup with Guy, the crowd
- 13:56Speaker 2: is shocked. People are surprised. Don't think anybody is surprised
- 14:01Speaker 2: that Guy's the one that's going home. I think they're
- 14:03Speaker 2: surprised that guys and how Guy went home. Then they
- 14:07Speaker 2: have the live show with Guy on it, and they
- 14:12Speaker 2: still yet they receive to ask him the questions that
- 14:17Speaker 2: all of the public now knows. This is not a secret,
- 14:20Speaker 2: This is not like Reddit sleuthing.
- 14:23Speaker 4: I feel like this is still kind of like one
- 14:25Speaker 4: of those things where it's like if you just watch
- 14:27Speaker 4: the show and you watch it on TV and you
- 14:28Speaker 4: don't do any sort of your Instagram feed isn't about it,
- 14:32Speaker 4: then maybe you don't know that he had a restraining
- 14:35Speaker 4: order against him from his ex wife. It's so weird though,
- 14:40Speaker 4: to see them like up there and like not worshiping
- 14:44Speaker 4: what's the other like like idolized to kind of like
- 14:47Speaker 4: idolizing him, just making him seem like the perfect guy
- 14:50Speaker 4: to date, And You're just like, in the back of
- 14:53Speaker 4: my head, I'm just like, how are they pretending like
- 14:56Speaker 4: he's the perfect guy to date when his ex wife
- 14:57Speaker 4: got a restraining order on him?
- 14:59Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 14:59Speaker 2: I don't No, I don't even have a theory for
- 15:01Speaker 2: I thought they would at least ask him. I thought
- 15:03Speaker 2: they would at least bring it up and say, hey,
- 15:05Speaker 2: obviously you've been in the news, do you want to
- 15:09Speaker 2: tell us more about this situation, because as right now,
- 15:15Speaker 2: the show seems to be taking this strategy of like
- 15:18Speaker 2: don't ask, don't tell. They didn't say anything with about Devin,
- 15:21Speaker 2: they didn't say anything about guy. They did kind of
- 15:24Speaker 2: come out, I think, on a short, little, you know,
- 15:27Speaker 2: statement on social media and say.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Bil for Gil.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but they didn't really ever then confront it and
- 15:34Speaker 2: he still was on our you know show a lot,
- 15:38Speaker 2: so I don't know what's going on.
- 15:39Speaker 3: I don't know what's happening.
- 15:40Speaker 4: It's weird. Also, like you and I very much like
- 15:42Speaker 4: will forgive right, It's like, not a big deal. I'm
- 15:45Speaker 4: not going to cancel you guy, but I I But
- 15:48Speaker 4: but because it's not an addressed, it lingers in my head.
- 15:51Speaker 4: If I heard the story from him, I'd probably be
- 15:54Speaker 4: more forgiving because his family seems to have been very forgiving.
- 15:57Speaker 4: But like I maybe even jumping the gun here, but
- 16:00Speaker 4: you know, just tell me the story a little bit.
- 16:02Speaker 2: I don't need as an outside stranger, the juicy details.
- 16:06Speaker 2: What I do want to know is if you were
- 16:09Speaker 2: the one chosen by Joan, like, tell me how this
- 16:13Speaker 2: went down, and if you've, yeah, why your family's forgiven
- 16:16Speaker 2: you maybe or maybe even more important than that, I
- 16:21Speaker 2: want the show to tell us how in the world
- 16:23Speaker 2: these guys keep getting on the show.
- 16:26Speaker 4: Also, Joan obviously knows and she still thinks of him
- 16:29Speaker 4: very highly, so I'm assuming that she knows the story.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm assuming she does now too. Anyways, that was
- 16:34Speaker 2: just weird. It was kind of the hot seating moment
- 16:37Speaker 2: that never became hot. They the two of them seem cordial.
- 16:41Speaker 2: He still seems very much into Joan, and I think
- 16:46Speaker 2: he really was into Joan throughout the season. I think
- 16:50Speaker 2: he was a late burn. I think it happened like
- 16:52Speaker 2: last week. All of a sudden, he goes, oh my gosh,
- 16:53Speaker 2: there's two of us left. Do I really like this woman?
- 16:56Speaker 2: And he goes, I actually do. I love her? But
- 16:58Speaker 2: Joan wasn't there yet at that point. I think Chok
- 17:01Speaker 2: had been her number one for way long, for a long.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Time, and.
- 17:09Speaker 2: You know, it was a sweet moment for her to
- 17:11Speaker 2: walk and I think do it in the way she did.
- 17:14Speaker 2: I think this was a good thing for her to do.
- 17:17Speaker 2: I will say this, Ashley, for as little of you know,
- 17:21Speaker 2: the finale as we actually got to solve see because
- 17:24Speaker 2: of that breakup Joan, Joan's going to be really hard
- 17:30Speaker 2: to replace as a Golden Bachelorette.
- 17:33Speaker 3: She's going to be She's going to be.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Really hard for them to find anybody that navigates a
- 17:38Speaker 2: process like she did.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Now.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I think they'll find one somebody that's maybe more emotional.
- 17:44Speaker 2: They might find somebody who is a little more dramatic.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Maybe they'll find somebody that has that really big personality
- 17:51Speaker 2: kind of the Caitlin Bristows and the Jojo Fletcher's of
- 17:53Speaker 2: the world that really, you know, bring to life the
- 17:56Speaker 2: whole show. But Joan, as you're spokesperson as your first
- 18:03Speaker 2: is an elegance and the elegance and the beauty Jessica
- 18:06Speaker 2: last night again back to our third silent host for
- 18:09Speaker 2: this episode. Joan's sitting on stage at one point and
- 18:14Speaker 2: Jessica goes, she like last She goes, can you imagine
- 18:17Speaker 2: if that's your grandma? Like, how messed up is that?
- 18:21Speaker 4: Like she's hot, she looks great, she does just carry
- 18:26Speaker 4: herself so beautifully. She will be hard to compete with.
- 18:40Speaker 4: You know what we didn't talk about. We didn't talk
- 18:42Speaker 4: about how they had been planning to get a New
- 18:46Speaker 4: York apartment and Chock and her are going to spend
- 18:50Speaker 4: a lot of time here and they're going to they're
- 18:53Speaker 4: going to decorate it and he like basically gave her
- 18:56Speaker 4: like a book of plans for it, which is adorable.
- 19:00Speaker 4: As the gift that we sees typical for this episode,
- 19:04Speaker 4: it did make me wonder, like I which they told
- 19:08Speaker 4: us more about their living situation, didn't even ask about
- 19:10Speaker 4: that on after the final rows. I'm assuming that they're
- 19:13Speaker 4: going to live in Maryland, which is where she's from,
- 19:16Speaker 4: and then they'll go up to New York, which is
- 19:18Speaker 4: like three and a half hours from her.
- 19:20Speaker 3: It's a good point, Ashley.
- 19:21Speaker 2: I mean that should be the number one question I
- 19:23Speaker 2: think that Jesse brings up during this now because it
- 19:25Speaker 2: was such a big deal with you know, Gary and teresas,
- 19:29Speaker 2: what are you guys going to do now? What is
- 19:30Speaker 2: next for the two of you? Especially if the show
- 19:35Speaker 2: knows they're doing well?
- 19:36Speaker 4: Do you think that was an allusion to them?
- 19:38Speaker 2: No, I don't think I think it was a miss.
- 19:41Speaker 2: I think what I'm saying is I think it should
- 19:43Speaker 2: have been asked so we all get excited for them.
- 19:46Speaker 4: Because, as Theresa and we you know, addressed a couple
- 19:50Speaker 4: of weeks ago, you know, location was the reason for
- 19:56Speaker 4: their breakup publicly, even though she told us there is more.
- 20:00Speaker 2: So wouldn't it be interesting to know what is next
- 20:02Speaker 2: for you guys? We didn't really get that question more
- 20:05Speaker 2: than how exciting is it now and that you're going
- 20:08Speaker 2: to Disney World and the college football playoffs are going
- 20:10Speaker 2: to be happening on ABC or ESPN. I have a
- 20:15Speaker 2: buddy from my golf course that I golf with, and
- 20:19Speaker 2: he watches the show so consistently with his wife, and
- 20:25Speaker 2: last night I was I was coming back late from
- 20:27Speaker 2: a retreat and I hadn't been able to watch it yet.
- 20:30Speaker 2: But he texts me and he says, my goodness, Jesse
- 20:34Speaker 2: just randomly drops at the college football playoffs are going
- 20:36Speaker 2: to be having on ESPN, and that he gets to
- 20:38Speaker 2: announce a game.
- 20:39Speaker 3: And then he said, should have been you.
- 20:43Speaker 4: As the host of the show.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Uh yeah, and that I got to do the college
- 20:47Speaker 2: fell at least invite me.
- 20:48Speaker 3: I don't know. Anyways, I'm feeling.
- 20:51Speaker 4: That I feel left out for you.
- 20:55Speaker 2: I always wake up a little slow and just wake
- 20:58Speaker 2: up kind of in this place of I very but
- 21:03Speaker 2: the the a random drop. We were laying there watching
- 21:08Speaker 2: it ourselves, and we just both went, huh.
- 21:10Speaker 4: It's a very weird because it's not like the same
- 21:12Speaker 4: demographic necessarily No.
- 21:14Speaker 2: And then the national championship trophies just sitting next to Jesse,
- 21:17Speaker 2: which means wild Joan and Chalk are both like pouring
- 21:20Speaker 2: their heart out about their relationship. Some little producer walks
- 21:23Speaker 2: up with the trophy and since it's right next to Jesse.
- 21:26Speaker 2: So those two see it and are like looking at
- 21:28Speaker 2: that thing while they're like, yeah, it's been an amazing ride.
- 21:31Speaker 3: We've had such a good time together.
- 21:33Speaker 4: When they did the Mormon Wives Show, when they plugged.
- 21:36Speaker 4: That was that during gens or this previous season, one
- 21:40Speaker 4: of those finales, and that made sense because like people
- 21:44Speaker 4: who watch dramatic women like to watch dramatic women, so
- 21:48Speaker 4: that's all in the same boat. This was like just
- 21:52Speaker 4: very off, but whatever, I remember, Okay, I had one
- 21:55Speaker 4: more thought that I wanted to say about guy, and
- 21:57Speaker 4: I'm sorry ABC, but about their straight order. See, because
- 22:04Speaker 4: you didn't bring it up. I actually worried that he's
- 22:06Speaker 4: crazier than he actually might be.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Well that so I'm saying it would have done everybody
- 22:10Speaker 2: better for him to talk about it.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Yes see, because what do we see him crying and
- 22:17Speaker 4: he's very emotional and he's saying a couple of little things.
- 22:21Speaker 4: I'm interpreting his milk. This guy's gonna blow up. He's
- 22:24Speaker 4: gonna show his cheer colors. You know, he's crazy. Man.
- 22:27Speaker 4: He's not as even keeled as he comes across on TV.
- 22:30Speaker 4: I know better. Whereas like if he had just talked
- 22:34Speaker 4: about it. Then I would have been like, I don't know,
- 22:36Speaker 4: maybe I'd interpreted those scenes differently, but I couldn't. The
- 22:39Speaker 4: crying made me not The cry made me nervous, But
- 22:42Speaker 4: just like him getting broken up with I was like, Oh,
- 22:45Speaker 4: is he gonna freak o out?
- 22:46Speaker 2: Is he gonna oh I only you're alone, and that
- 22:49Speaker 2: kind of moment going what is he gonna, you know,
- 22:54Speaker 2: get up and storm out? It ended up being, you know,
- 22:57Speaker 2: a very It ended up being a very Chris Stramberg
- 23:01Speaker 2: type scene where he's standing on the pier laying his
- 23:05Speaker 2: tears out into the ocean, weeping.
- 23:08Speaker 4: It was the most him. So if you guys missed
- 23:12Speaker 4: a couple episodes ago, Ben said that guy reminds him
- 23:15Speaker 4: of Chris's cupcake from his season and the comparison couldn't
- 23:19Speaker 4: be more accurate. And they're both doctors.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Just to be clear, this was before I knew about
- 23:25Speaker 2: any legal Yeah, just to be clear, I don't.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Chris Chris, but I love him so much.
- 23:34Speaker 2: He's the best of Just saying without you know from
- 23:37Speaker 2: the from the surface from the show, they're very similar
- 23:40Speaker 2: people and huge muscles.
- 23:44Speaker 4: I just also need to throw it there. It had
- 23:47Speaker 4: to be wondering if guy got broken up off camera,
- 23:50Speaker 4: would it look like this? Do you know what I mean?
- 23:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think you're wrong, and I don't think
- 23:55Speaker 2: that's a I don't think you're jumping to this like
- 23:58Speaker 2: a place of just being a crazy fan. I think
- 24:01Speaker 2: it was probably in a lot of people's minds Ashley.
- 24:05Speaker 2: A couple last thoughts on this episode. The family is
- 24:09Speaker 2: going to Disney World. What an incredible gift for them
- 24:11Speaker 2: to have all their families going out. That sounded fun
- 24:14Speaker 2: to me. I wanted to see the reaction from the
- 24:17Speaker 2: kids when they said it, though, and we didn't get
- 24:19Speaker 2: to see that. We were like, yeah, I mean if
- 24:23Speaker 2: I was a little kid and my grandma is on
- 24:27Speaker 2: stage dating this dude and I'm in the audience and
- 24:30Speaker 2: everybody's celebrating her, and then they tell me, because your
- 24:34Speaker 2: grandma went on a dating show, you young man get
- 24:37Speaker 2: to go to Disney World. I would have flipped out,
- 24:42Speaker 2: like I am running around that stage.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Maybe he didn't get to hear it because it's kind
- 24:47Speaker 4: of hard to hear things in there, and he's like four,
- 24:50Speaker 4: And then there was like the one and a half
- 24:52Speaker 4: year old, and then I know there's other grandchildren, but
- 24:53Speaker 4: those are the only ones in the audience. I chocked
- 24:57Speaker 4: it and seemed super thrilled about going to Disney. He
- 25:00Speaker 4: was like Jesus, He's like, damn, I'm like, I just
- 25:02Speaker 4: I just ended up with this lady killy romantic vacation.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Yeah, And he's probably in the back of his mind, like,
- 25:09Speaker 2: I can't get out of work. I've already taken four
- 25:13Speaker 2: months off of work this year. I cannot leave again.
- 25:17Speaker 2: I have to get back to my normal life. I
- 25:19Speaker 2: remember that being a stressor for me because I was
- 25:22Speaker 2: still working a full time job post show, and so
- 25:25Speaker 2: the show would call and be like can you be
- 25:27Speaker 2: in La can you be here?
- 25:28Speaker 3: And I can't.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Guys, I have a job you yeah, you know you
- 25:33Speaker 2: if you want to pay me more, sure love to
- 25:36Speaker 2: It is hard, I think probably in the back of
- 25:38Speaker 2: his mind right now, Chalk is trying to figure out
- 25:40Speaker 2: how to get back to his life with Joan and
- 25:44Speaker 2: how to kind of settle into a rhythm. While now
- 25:48Speaker 2: it's kind of just starting for Chalk. He hasn't had
- 25:50Speaker 2: the opportunities that Jones had. He hasn't gotten into the
- 25:53Speaker 2: travel mode. He maybe will be able to retire a
- 25:55Speaker 2: little early here because he'll get a nice couple like
- 25:57Speaker 2: chunks of money. But yeah, for now, I think it
- 26:01Speaker 2: probably would be hard for him to figure out how
- 26:03Speaker 2: to leave this job, all right, Ashley, And closing here,
- 26:07Speaker 2: we'll talk about Grant season preview, just like the show did.
- 26:12Speaker 2: I if there is not a better representation for how
- 26:17Speaker 2: quickly the show moves on to the next lead, this
- 26:20Speaker 2: episode showed us perfectly. Because yes, it's awesome that Grant
- 26:25Speaker 2: was there. I think his season's going to be great.
- 26:27Speaker 2: I think he's going to be great. I'm excited to
- 26:30Speaker 2: watch it. Not the point. The point is we have
- 26:34Speaker 2: this happy couple on this stage, and then they do
- 26:37Speaker 2: the preview and then they're exit. Like when we all
- 26:40Speaker 2: say goodbye to Joan and Chalk after watching them for
- 26:43Speaker 2: the last few months, Grant standing right there beside him,
- 26:47Speaker 2: he's there and they have moved on. That show will
- 26:50Speaker 2: say Joan and Chalk, great job, good luck, have a
- 26:53Speaker 2: lot of fun out there, and Grant come on in, buddy,
- 26:57Speaker 2: and they'll do the same thing that Grant when his
- 26:58Speaker 2: season's over. Uh, it happens every time.
- 27:02Speaker 4: This is why they need that soft rock song and
- 27:04Speaker 4: the montage to their love to end the episode that
- 27:08Speaker 4: they used to do.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Why don't they do that anymore?
- 27:10Speaker 4: They don't know.
- 27:12Speaker 2: They tried to do it with the pictures, but we
- 27:13Speaker 2: as fans get needed to see them because the camera's
- 27:16Speaker 2: never zoomed in for us. So there's pictures that were
- 27:18Speaker 2: shown on the big screen of the two of them
- 27:20Speaker 2: during Happy Couples. I didn't get to see it because
- 27:24Speaker 2: the camera is so far away.
- 27:26Speaker 4: I really want to know how the happy couples are
- 27:28Speaker 4: when you're younger versus when you're older, because like you,
- 27:31Speaker 4: guys like never really have a great time in there
- 27:33Speaker 4: because you're like bored and want to get it out,
- 27:35Speaker 4: and they just seem to they're five. Yeah, crossroads.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know.
- 27:42Speaker 2: I mean, I'm guessing it's I'm guessing it's a little
- 27:45Speaker 2: awkward too for them because it doesn't happen right away.
- 27:50Speaker 2: You don't get your first for a few weeks into this.
- 27:54Speaker 4: For everyone, right, Yeah, it's weird for everyone.
- 27:56Speaker 2: And you're like reintroducing yourself. And I think it was
- 27:59Speaker 2: so great of Chalk to be like, it was great
- 28:02Speaker 2: to get to know her during this time, Which is
- 28:05Speaker 2: my advice for any lead that comes onto the show
- 28:08Speaker 2: is hey, if you feel like you don't know this person,
- 28:11Speaker 2: like you don't have to you know, I've talked about this,
- 28:13Speaker 2: you don't have to propose, like that's not like a
- 28:14Speaker 2: thing that you are committing to do. But also you'll
- 28:18Speaker 2: get to know them later, like really well. And I
- 28:21Speaker 2: think that's something that probably for Chalk and Joan is
- 28:25Speaker 2: important for them to realize. Is they came off the show,
- 28:28Speaker 2: they were probably excited. There was that euphoria, there was
- 28:31Speaker 2: that feeling, there's the interest, and then during Happy Couples,
- 28:34Speaker 2: I think you really get to know the person better
- 28:37Speaker 2: and fall in love or not. But for the two
- 28:39Speaker 2: of them at this point, from what we saw during
- 28:41Speaker 2: this episode, I think the two of them will make it.
- 28:43Speaker 3: I hope they make it.
- 28:45Speaker 2: I hope we see a huge success story from this
- 28:48Speaker 2: season because Joan deserves it.
- 28:50Speaker 3: I think Chalk deserves.
- 28:51Speaker 2: It, and I think the fans want to see it
- 28:53Speaker 2: from the Golden Show to see that this could work
- 28:56Speaker 2: for sure.
- 29:07Speaker 4: Should we talk about Grant yea, Let's talk about the preview. Okay,
- 29:12Speaker 4: he was definitely a little nervous. When Jesse threw to
- 29:15Speaker 4: him in the audience, he was just like inspiring, inspiring, inspiring,
- 29:19Speaker 4: but he's very handsome, so it doesn't really matter. That
- 29:24Speaker 4: is a nice face to look at for the next
- 29:26Speaker 4: you know, however many weeks we get to.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Do, it doesn't really matter what he says. He's so handesome, it.
- 29:31Speaker 4: Doesn't really matter. He's very stunning. His girls look like
- 29:35Speaker 4: they're gonna be dramatic. But yeah, I guess the real
- 29:40Speaker 4: kicker is what you've already mentioned. He seems to get
- 29:44Speaker 4: to finale day without knowing who he's gonna be. That's
- 29:49Speaker 4: that's hard because he's like, Hey, both girls are standing there,
- 29:52Speaker 4: there there, We're at this moment. We're already at this moment.
- 29:56Speaker 4: We're not in the hotel anymore. We're at the moment
- 29:58Speaker 4: and you don't know yet. That's good stuff for us.
- 30:01Speaker 2: If I was there with him, and I hope somebody did.
- 30:05Speaker 2: I think at that point, if you are so conflicted,
- 30:08Speaker 2: honestly conflicted on that day, you can't pick.
- 30:11Speaker 4: You have to say, Hi, I'd like to date both
- 30:12Speaker 4: the person in real life.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Yeah one maybe like really do a heart dive here
- 30:19Speaker 2: and say to the person that you're most into that
- 30:23Speaker 2: you see a future with. Hey, this has been wild
- 30:25Speaker 2: and I haven't been able to have a clear thought
- 30:30Speaker 2: in the last couple of months. Can you and I
- 30:32Speaker 2: just leave here and try this thing together? And I
- 30:34Speaker 2: think that's a fine, that's a fine way to end this.
- 30:36Speaker 4: Yeah, you can't get engaged to somebody when two minutes
- 30:40Speaker 4: before you're like, I may want to pick the other one.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Yes, it's like, Hey, I'm I don't know who I
- 30:45Speaker 2: want to fall in love with. Actually I love them both. Hey,
- 30:48Speaker 2: I've been there, but I think there was there was
- 30:52Speaker 2: always this what, well, who do I see a future with?
- 30:56Speaker 2: And I think Grant has to get to that point.
- 30:58Speaker 2: His season does seem dramatic, but every season is right,
- 31:03Speaker 2: that was Yeah, we'd never know from these previews exactly
- 31:06Speaker 2: how the season is going to play out and how
- 31:09Speaker 2: these connections are going to go, and how deep we're
- 31:11Speaker 2: gonna get to know the cast and get to know Grant.
- 31:14Speaker 2: But it will be an exciting season to watch. I'm
- 31:16Speaker 2: glad that it will. You know that Grant is the lead.
- 31:22Speaker 2: But here's the thing that we need. We need to
- 31:24Speaker 2: know him better. We don't know Grant yet.
- 31:26Speaker 4: And I'm sorry guys that I'm like making it seem
- 31:28Speaker 4: like he's a piece of me. But that you've ever
- 31:29Speaker 4: had some want to see his face. It's because I
- 31:31Speaker 4: don't know anything. I don't know anything beyond that for him.
- 31:34Speaker 4: So now I know that he likes to play piano,
- 31:38Speaker 4: that music is really important and expressing his feelings, and
- 31:42Speaker 4: that's really cute. He writes a song for one of
- 31:44Speaker 4: the girls. Ooh swoony.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a good start. I think you're probably you
- 31:52Speaker 2: know as much about Grant as any of us do.
- 31:54Speaker 2: We know what he looks like, and that's just that's
- 31:58Speaker 2: something that is valuable in a relationship. So his season
- 32:02Speaker 2: will be coming up next until Grant season. Now that
- 32:06Speaker 2: Joan's season of the Golden Bachelrett has done, and let's
- 32:08Speaker 2: do something for Joan here that I didn't feel like
- 32:12Speaker 2: we got last night. Joan again was elegant, She was patient,
- 32:19Speaker 2: She put her heart into this. She was enjoyable to watch.
- 32:23Speaker 2: She was easy to root for. She is beautiful on
- 32:26Speaker 2: the inside. Now she is an incredible first lead of
- 32:30Speaker 2: the Golden Bachelorette and Chalk Chalk has been intentional. He's
- 32:36Speaker 2: pursued her even through some huge life tragedy. He came
- 32:42Speaker 2: back for her. I think, at least from what we've seen,
- 32:48Speaker 2: Chalk loves her deeply and is so grateful for the
- 32:52Speaker 2: opportunity to have met her through this experience, and we
- 32:56Speaker 2: want to wish the two of them not only the best,
- 32:58Speaker 2: but say thank you for letting us watch you and
- 33:01Speaker 2: letting us in and your experience and your relationship. And
- 33:05Speaker 2: we hope for you peace, enjoy and love all the
- 33:09Speaker 2: years to follow, and we hope you have so much
- 33:11Speaker 2: adventure and fun. And please keep us updated as fans
- 33:14Speaker 2: because we're fans of you.
- 33:16Speaker 4: Yes, I really want to know about their life now.
- 33:19Speaker 4: Like I know I already followed Joan, but like host
- 33:23Speaker 4: some stuff. I want to see what the holidays look
- 33:25Speaker 4: like together and all that. You guys are very cute.
- 33:29Speaker 4: We're so happy and you're and just to reiterate what
- 33:31Speaker 4: Benna said, it's just like she was a beautiful lead
- 33:36Speaker 4: inside and out.
- 33:38Speaker 2: It's it was an incredible season. We hope all the
- 33:41Speaker 2: fans enjoyed it, and we hope all the fans maybe
- 33:44Speaker 2: dig it in Grant's word inspired by their love story.
- 33:48Speaker 2: And we hope anybody out there listening who is single
- 33:51Speaker 2: in their fifties, sixties, seventies, eighties nos that love can
- 33:56Speaker 2: be found again. So we take a lotokle break for
- 34:01Speaker 2: our off season, where we'll catch up with headlines and
- 34:04Speaker 2: questions from our audience, and also some incredible interviews with
- 34:07Speaker 2: some of your favorites from Bachelor Nation. We look forward
- 34:11Speaker 2: to this time because it's kind of a reset for
- 34:14Speaker 2: us before we enter back into breaking down episodes. So
- 34:17Speaker 2: write us your questions, send us any thoughts you have.
- 34:21Speaker 2: We love to talk to you through our microphones, but
- 34:24Speaker 2: until next time, I've been Ben.
