- 1:47please spend of the week. We'll get to her momentarily. Coming up a
- 1:49little bit later on in the show, General Chris Walker. He is a
- 1:53candidate for Congress and District two. He is going to join us a little
- 1:57bit later on in the show. Plus the announcement made yesterday that Charleston is
- 2:01getting what was the Super six. I don't know what the new name is
- 2:05going to be, but Tim Brady it's a big win for Charleston. Tim
- 2:08Brady from the CVB is going to join us to talk about that and the
- 2:12story that is making literally international headlines. Hooters in Kanaw City, of course,
- 2:17closed in twenty twenty I think it was, and now the building is
- 2:23going to be demolished. A couple of guys from here in the valley said
- 2:24we want to do a candlelight vigil. This thing started out kind of tongue
- 2:29in cheek, small that has gone world wide, with newspapers in London reporting
- 2:34on at TMZ, CNN, Fox News. One of the organizers, Leo
- 2:38Brownie, is going to join us to talk about that a little bit later
- 2:40on, plus your calls and text we'll get to those a little bit.
- 2:43I want to bring in Jeff Jenkinson now from the newsroom. Jeff, good
- 2:46morning, Thanks for joining us yesterday. It just seems like the charlestonarry can't
- 2:50get a break. We had a problem with the gas issue a couple of
- 2:52months ago, and then we have all kinds of chaos and Kanas City yesterday
- 2:54with water talk about it. Yeah, you know this this will happen time
- 2:59to time when a contractor unassociated with the water company will break a line.
- 3:04And that's what happened. It's the contract was working on our road project.
- 3:07You know, there's been a lot of construction in Kanas City on mccorkor Avenue
- 3:12in different areas, and so a contractor was working there yesterday morning around mid
- 3:16morning and hit a water line and that that happened to be an important water
- 3:23line, a main, and I'm sure folks have seen and we had a
- 3:29photo on our website Dell Cooper Coopolis over in that area and you can see
- 3:32the mess it made and it was really close to Kanas City Elementary School.
- 3:37So that's that's where it happened, just near the backside of the school.
- 3:42And it calls you know, water disruption for basically that whole area including c
- 3:46amc and UH and and then also it impacted some water pressure that even goes
- 3:53across the river to the Maulden area and Campbell's Creek area. But by late
- 3:59last night they some people started to get on and the hope of the water
- 4:02company was to have everybody back on by eight o'clock this morning, and then
- 4:06so there's still a precautionary or a borol of water advisory as there typically is
- 4:12that associated with a break like this. All right, so but we are
- 4:15everything's looking good over there right as far as we know, but there is
- 4:17a morel water vesterry. How did it affect school over there this well,
- 4:19yeah, they you know, I don't have it in front of me here,
- 4:23Dave, but but you know it closed every all school's over there yesterday
- 4:28and including Malden Elementary let out early because because of that out So it was
- 4:34Yeah, it was definitely definitely a headache and just a lot of water if
- 4:39you saw it, I mean it was springing up. There was a ton
- 4:41of water that was lost. Before I let you go, I'm going to
- 4:45get your opinion. Totally unrelated to this, the announcement Jeff yesterday that the
- 4:48s SAC make and that announcement that the Super six they're now Super eight,
- 4:53Elite eight whatever it is, are going to credate Grade eight is coming back
- 4:56to Charleston. What do you think about it? I think it's a I
- 5:00mean, what a what a victory for Charleston here. You know, when
- 5:03you when you talk about the four bids and Wheelings had it so long.
- 5:08Uh. You know, congratulations to Tim Brady and the advisory team, uh
- 5:13that that helped put that bid together. And you know, the S S
- 5:15A C. And Tim will talk about this. You know, they visited
- 5:17every site. Uh. And you know, Tim is familiar with what Wheeling's
- 5:23done. I mean he's been to several Super sixes and in different capacities,
- 5:26and so he knows what Wheeling's done. And I you know, I think
- 5:29you know some of what things things they've been successful with. We're including Charleston's
- 5:32bid. Charleston's going to replicate some of those things. And uh, when
- 5:36I talked to him yesterday and said, you know, because there will be
- 5:41skeptics and you always see some of the skepticism that people say, oh Charleston
- 5:46and you know lay Field and you know those type of things, and there
- 5:49needs to be some improvements made. But that's part you know, that's part
- 5:53of it. Uh and uh. And in so now Charleston has a chance.
- 5:58I mean, if if they perform well in the three years, they
- 6:00get the fourth year, that's the right. Yeah, that's the deal.
- 6:02So you know, you know when you look at Regatta, you look at
- 6:08you know the success of the lights over there. You know during the Christmas
- 6:12seasons, the cycling thing, the cycle, the USA Cycling thing in May
- 6:16you know, the shows that have come to the Costume and Convention Center.
- 6:20I mean it's just another it's another you know, significant announcement for the City
- 6:26of Charles. Charleston's killing it right now. Yeah, it is good,
- 6:29all right, Jeff, I appreciate it, man. Thanks, Okay.

- 6:49pet of the Week. Hannah, good morning, welcome to the show.
- 6:53Good morning, how you I am doing fine? Thank you for being here
- 6:56now. As always our adopt me please put it the week's photo post on

- 7:03Twitter. You can check out at Dave a seventy of the Day Allen Show.
- 7:06There tell us the story of June Hannah all Right, So, June
- 7:15she came into us as a cruelty neglect arrest case. I'm not exactly sure
- 7:23what the original case was. A cruelty neglect arrest hold on a dog could
- 7:29be an actual case, or it could be something just like the owner had
- 7:35went to jail overnight, or something totally unrelated to any kind of neglect or
- 7:42anything like that. So it could be a different variety of things. But
- 7:45she did come into us because of that. And she is very very sweet,
- 7:53very very very friendly. She's playful, she prefers playful dogs. Herself
- 8:00on the leaf a little bit, she's still learning on the leaf, so
- 8:03she is younger. She's about a year old. A year and maybe I
- 8:09think fourish or faverished months is what they have her at. She's not fixed
- 8:15yet, but she definitely will be. If not before she goes home,
- 8:18then definitely we will get her on the surgey schedule and have to bring her
- 8:22back. But she is a social butterclass is very very sweet. She's very
- 8:26very like I said, she is playful, but she has calm too.
- 8:31She looks to chill and hang out as well. But she definitely is very
- 8:35food motivated. So if you have treats and you want to train her some
- 8:39stuff, so light ahead, because I'm sure that those treats will definitely get
- 8:43her attention. Well, she is a beautiful, beautiful dog. Any idea
- 8:48what kind of dog you may be? Not one hundred percent sure what kind
- 8:52of dogs she would be. I know that she is on the smaller side.
- 8:56She is around thirty to thirty three ish hou I think is what she's
- 9:01sitting at right now. So while she I'm not sure if she may look
- 9:05like a larger dog to anyone in a picture, but she's definitely on the
- 9:09smaller side. If anybody has ever heard of a pocket pity, she's kind
- 9:15of similar to that size. But she's probably got some pit in her.
- 9:22She probably got some sort of terrier, some sort of like smaller terrier in
- 9:26her as well. But she is a very good dog. She's very sweet,
- 9:31and she has micro tipping vaccinated. She's just an all around good dog
- 9:35and she is looking for her forever family, and she would be a good
- 9:39one for a family as well, because she has shown to be good with
- 9:43kids in our care. That's awesome. I mean, if you do again,
- 9:45if you're a family or individual, whatever, I mean, let's just
- 9:48get this dog dopted because it is an absolutely beautiful dog again. June is
- 9:52her name or pictures posted on my social media Hannah. World Spade Day is
- 9:58coming up on Tuesday. I know the can Trot Humine Association working with Fixed
- 10:01Charleston talk about that. Yeah, So for World Say Day, I know
- 10:07that we it's going to be We're going to have like a photo booth set
- 10:11up. We're gonna have I believe Starbucks is even coming out and they're going
- 10:16to have pub cups as well as drinks for people as well. I think
- 10:24Rock City Cupcake is going to Rock City Cake Company is going to be there
- 10:28for treats. I believe that it's going to be for human treats. Now,
- 10:33is this going to be at the shelter? Yes, so it's going
- 10:37to be at the shelter. It's going to be at Fixed Charleston. So
- 10:39okay, it's all on there. The information is on our Facebook as well
- 10:46as our website, I believe, so definitely check it out. It's going
- 10:50to be amazing. It's going to help out with wellness. So if you
- 10:52if you need help out with well miss, then definitely make the trip out.
- 10:56It'll be definitely worth it. You can get a freeter for whenever you
- 11:01want to make the appointment for that. Like I don't believe it's going to
- 11:05be that day, but you just make the appointment for whenever you want to
- 11:09and that is going to be a free spaan meter, So definitely take advantage
- 11:13of it. Well, it's interesting that we'd be talking about that because it
- 11:16just got a text for you to the show, but says, for Hannah,
- 11:18we have four stray cats we feed every day. Do you know of
- 11:22reduced price SPAE in newters anywhere right now? World Spay Day on Tuesday would
- 11:28be a great opportunity. Again explain to the texture this morning what they need
- 11:31to do. Yeah, so we do have a TNR program for cats.
- 11:37However, I would honestly come on Tuesday because you can make an appointment for
- 11:43all of them and it'll be the free spay neuter. They'll get their vaccines
- 11:48as well if you need it. I believe that it is free DHPFC RCP,
- 11:56which is the cat one vaccines, and then the reds are ten dollars
- 11:58if you want the rabies, but the they and neuter are free. So
- 12:03definitely come out on Tuesday and that would definitely be your best bet. All
- 12:07right, Hannah, what do we need at the shelter? What do you
- 12:09need of right now? Of course, we're always in need of blankets and
- 12:15sheets and towels. We always need that. However, we definitely could use
- 12:18some laundry detergent. We definitely could use some extra gloves. You could use
- 12:24some dawn dish soap, and I know that. Like I said, we
- 12:30could always use blankets and towels and sheets. But peuring a dog chow and
- 12:35Peurina puppy chow. I think we're okay on puppy chowl, but peering a
- 12:41dog chow is something that we definitely could use right now. All right,
- 12:43Hannah, As always, I appreciate you being here. We'll talk again next
- 12:48week. Thanks a lot, no problem, thank you. It is nine
- 12:50twenty and again June is the dog in the spotlight this week. She is
- 12:54a very very sweet girl. According to Hannah and everybody at the shelter.
- 12:58She's one year old, micro chipped, not fixed yet but will be.
- 13:03She is vaccinated. She's still learning the leash, but they say that she's
- 13:07very, very kid friendly, loves to play and loves other playful dogs.
- 13:13So if you're looking for a great family pent, June would be the dog
- 13:16for you. And again you can learn more information just go take a look
- 13:18at June's picture and all the details on my Facebook page Dave Allen Radio,

- 17:14have played in D one stadiums if it was a Morgantown Huntington split, but
- 17:18instead they're playing at Lowly Lately. Sad day for the kids, says a
- 17:22text. When we get Tim Brady's take on that from the CVB coming up
- 17:26a little bit later on, I want to welcome to the show now,
- 17:27General Chris Walker. He's a candidate for Congress and district too, and he
- 17:30joins us now via the big Ley Pickley Wiggly Hotline. Good morning, sir,
- 17:34welcome to the show. Good morning, Good morning, Charleston. How's
- 17:38everybody doing. Everybody's doing great. It's Friday, man, It's Friday,
- 17:44huh, which if you're running for office, means absolutely nothing, right because
- 17:47you're out on the campaign trail, right. We get no days off.
- 17:52Oh my god, they're no day's office. It's just like being on a
- 17:56deployment glove hour days. No days off exactly. And the weekends are the
- 18:00busiest time, especially as the weather gets a little bit better. Now you're
- 18:03a Republican running out of district too. At one time, West Virginia had
- 18:07three congressional districts. Now we have two. So explain that district to us.
- 18:12Well, we have the lower well, the most southern part would be
- 18:19Clarkberg and Parkersburg. You work your way on north all the way to Morgantown
- 18:25and up in the Wheeling and then over across to the eastern Panhandle, and
- 18:29it also includes Elkins and that whole area too. You know. The thing
- 18:33is, after they did the census and all the redistrict thing, there are
- 18:37a lot of West Virginias who have no idea what district there. And so
- 18:41that's another thing I do when I'm driving all around the state talking to people
- 18:45and they go, what, I wish I could vote for you, because
- 18:48but I don't think I'm a district too. Actually you are. So we
- 18:52have to get that education out there well. And again, even though it's
- 18:56not technically our listing area the way radio works now, sir, and what
- 19:00is a listening area anyway? I mentioned folks earlier that we had someone listening
- 19:03to the show in Brazil yesterday and they so thank God for streaming. And
- 19:07I know this show is going all over the state right now. Tell us
- 19:10a little bit about about Chris Walker. Give us your bio man, all
- 19:15right. Well, I started out in the Air Force in nineteen eighty three
- 19:18and lifted and then I did four years at the Air Force Academy and then
- 19:22another thirty five years as an officer and traveled the world. I've actually fought
- 19:27wars around the world. I've been in combat situations in the Middle East and
- 19:33in Africa. I've actually lived in Japan for a while. But after Japan
- 19:40is when I came to West Virginia and joined the one sixty seventh Airlift Wing
- 19:45there in Martinsburg. And I came up there and the West Virginia Air National
- 19:48Guard really really took care of me because my career culminated with being the commander
- 19:55of the West Virginia Air National Guard. So with all of this, and
- 19:57by the way, thank you for your service. By the way, sir,
- 20:00with all of this, why are you running for Congress now? Well,
- 20:06a couple of reasons. I cannot with all of the things going upside
- 20:11down with his current administration, I can't trust an establishment person to go up
- 20:15there and take care of West Virginia. And so I decided I need to
- 20:22continue my fight and my and my savvy as as a warrior for West Virginia
- 20:32and for the nation. I also said, hey, wait a minute,
- 20:37we really need a senator, a governor, and a congressman from one family
- 20:42running West Virginia. No, No, that that to me is establishment and
- 20:47I'm anti establishment. I'm for the I'm for the people of West Virginia,
- 20:52and I'm going to be a conservative fighter. Talky to Chris Walker again,
- 20:56a candidate for Congress and district too, What are some of the biggest needs
- 21:00of the area you represent, or, for that matter, if the entire
- 21:03state of West Virginia. Because once you go to Washington, sir, you
- 21:04are going to be representing the entire state of West Virginia, what do you
- 21:07see as some of the biggest needs and say some things you want to get
- 21:11done? All right, Well, first of all, I want to protect
- 21:15our energy industry. I want to protect coal because that is actually a strategic
- 21:22of fuel source, a strategic energy energy source, and we cannot let the
- 21:27Left take that away. All of their policies are failing right now with all
- 21:33of this so called Green New Deal stuff. We're not going to let that
- 21:37happen to our West Virginians. They've already ruined our state enough. We're not
- 21:40going to get it go let it go any further than that. Another thing
- 21:42I'm going to concentrate on is securing our southern border because it hasn't affected West
- 21:48Virginia a lot yet, but it will because with millions and millions of illegal
- 21:56aliens coming in through our border since the frightened administration, they're going to eventually
- 22:00end up in West Virginia and taking our resources and taking our hospitals. They're
- 22:07we're not going to be giving them debit cards in West Virginia like they do
- 22:11in New York. That god. But also with all of those coming in,
- 22:15not all of them are refugees there. I know there are plenty of
- 22:19them who are our military aids men from China, Yemen, Iran and other
- 22:27countries like that that hate the United States, and they are positioning around our
- 22:33country waiting for an attack if we go to war with China or Iran,
- 22:37and so we cannot we cannot keep doing this, that we're permitting an invasion
- 22:42into our country and it will affect West Virginians just as it will affect every
- 22:48other American. We cannot let that happen. All the fentanel coming in through
- 22:52the southern border that will affect West Virginia. These are things that I need
- 22:56to get up there and stop talking with Chris Walker again, who's a candidate
- 23:02for Congress and District two on the Republican Party of Dave Allen showing five any
- 23:04Live. It is brought to you part by Morgan and Morgan, America's largest
- 23:07injury law firm. How's the campaign been so far, Sarah? What have
- 23:11you been hearing out on the campaign trail? Oh? My goodness, Okay,
- 23:15so a lot of vets that I've been talking to. They've also been
- 23:19asking me to help stop the wokeism happening in the military, and because some
- 23:26of them are saying that they are not advising their sons and daughters to join
- 23:32the military, and that that made my eyebrows rise. I said, wait
- 23:36a minute, Actually, don't you think we should encourage our sons and daughters
- 23:41to join the military and fight the wokeness from within? Because if we tell
- 23:45them not to join the military, then China and Iran win. So but
- 23:51these are the sort of things I'm hearing on the campaign trail. I'm also
- 23:53hearing as everybody knows the economy, the economy, the economy. Look,
- 24:00you know, gas prices are affecting West Virginians. They even though the Biden
- 24:06administration tries to say, hey, look they're getting better, they are still
- 24:10far higher than when we had Trump as president. And so again, having
- 24:14energy independence in our country with natural gas, oil, and coal will keep
- 24:19our country strong. There's you mentioned this earlier about some of the opposition that
- 24:26you have in this race for Congress. And over the last several years there
- 24:30has been a place not only in West Virginia we see on some state wide
- 24:36races, but also of course we saw for president when the country went for
- 24:38Donald Trump back in twenty sixteen. There seems to be a place or a
- 24:45longing, if you will, for outsiders to take political offices. Do you
- 24:52do you see yourself as an outsider? Sir? I definitely see myself as
- 24:56an outsider right now? Holy smokes. I think West Virginia is rife,
- 25:03rife with establishment, and the West Virginian people realize that, uh, and
- 25:10they need somebody who's actually not going to be beholden to all of the other
- 25:15establishment out there in the swamp. They need somebody who's gonna actually go up
- 25:19there with brass knuckles and say here, this is what West Virginians want,
- 25:23and this is what they're gonna get. Uh. We're not gonna, We're
- 25:26not going to compromise, and we're not gonna we're not gonna settle for anything
- 25:30less than what our constituents want. Uh. Where can people learn more about
- 25:37your campaigns? If they want to learn more about you, your bio or
- 25:40some things you stand for. Where can they learn more? They can go
- 25:44to www dot Chris Walker or congress dot com. And before is actually fo
- 25:52R not the number four? Okay, we're gonna give you the final thirty
- 25:55seconds or as I do for every candidate that appears on the show. Why
- 25:59should someone for Chris Walker for Congress? As Chris Walker is going to strengthen
- 26:06our national defense, Chris Walker is going to help secure that southern border.
- 26:11Chris Walker is gonna keep the left from touching our firearms because I'm an avid
- 26:18gunner. And Chris Walker is going to also stop the indoctrination happening in our
- 26:23schools. Well, I appreciate you taking time out of your schedule to be
- 26:30here today, sir, and again, thank you for your service and we
- 26:32wish you the best out on the campaign trail. Thanks a lot, my
- 26:36absolute pleasure effect. All right, Chris Walker again, he's a Republican candidate
- 26:40for Congress in district too. In the heart of West Virginia, there exists
- 26:44a profound force that goes beyond the realm of sports, transcending limitations and fostering
- 26:48of sense of belonging. Talking about Special Olympics a remarkable initiative showcase of the
- 26:52latest episode of West Virginia, enriched in collaboration with Huntington, it stands as
- 26:56a testament to the power of determination, unity and unwaih Verene supports sea of
- 27:00video highlighting the Special Olympics at Facebook dot com slash five adwhs and we I
- 27:06got some text here, Okay, out a bunch. I want to try
- 27:11to get the ones just pertaining to this interview. Text says, the guy
- 27:14has the same talking points as every other Republican. Miller's going to smoke him.
- 27:18Well, he's not running against Miller. He's in district too, and
- 27:21so he's really when he referred when he's referring to the establishment, he's referring,
- 27:26I'm presuming primarily to Riley Moore, who's current state treasurer, who's running
- 27:30out of that district. There are others running, but I think that is
- 27:33probably who he is referring to as the general, says the texture. If
- 27:36it's cool for a presidential candidate to encourage Russia to do whatever the hell it
- 27:40wants to a NATO ally that doesn't meet its defense spending targets, Why is
- 27:47the general not running in this district? Way, he doesn't live in this
- 27:48district. Again, he's up north as far as I know anyway, text
- 27:53says, Dave, Really, this candidate is a lunatic. That's what the
- 27:57texture said, not me. Tex says Chris Walker is a great guy and
- 28:02a good candidate. He can't beat Riley Moore, but I really hope he
- 28:06will stay involved and be willing to run again and maybe consider other offices where
- 28:10he can be effective, says a Texture. Texas says, too bad,
- 28:15we can't vote for Chris Walker talks a good game until he started talking in
- 28:18third person, According to a texture, all right, let's see. I

- 32:51them to accept him out according to a test. I'm not gonna ask you
- 32:54to weigh in on that, I promise. As you may know, the
- 32:58iconic Hooters in Kanah City closed a few years ago. I just you know,
- 33:04COVID other business reasons. I don't know. It wasn't part of that.
- 33:07The building itself, though, it's going to be torn down soon,
- 33:09and a couple of guys from here in the valley were quite bothered by that,
- 33:13upsett in fact, and decided to commemorate the occasion and all of the
- 33:16memories of Hooters by holding a candlelight vigil to that. Leo Browning is one
- 33:22of the guys, and it joined us now here in the Parmars Store studio.
- 33:24Leo, good morning, Welcome to the show. Good morning, Dave,
- 33:27glad to meet you. Thank you for having me, Thank you for
- 33:30being here. So talk about your fondness for Hooters. The restaurant that is.
- 33:34Love Hooters. I love Hooters the restaurant too, So I've just been
- 33:40going there so long. And once we caught word of this, it was
- 33:44kind of tragic, to be honest with you. I mean, it was
- 33:46man, we've been it was a place to where you could go to watch
- 33:49sports, ate some wings, see pretty ladies, pretty much, you know.
- 33:52So it's just an iconic figure in the local valley because there's nothing else
- 33:57like it. Really, so tragic. The business itself, I understand,
- 34:01closed in twenty twenty. Correct. Now word comes to the building itself is
- 34:06going to be torn down, correct, So you're kind of seeing that as
- 34:08part of your you know, your memories and whatever. So, I mean,
- 34:12the building closing was one thing, but the building disappearing is something totally
- 34:15different. Right. Yeah, There's been multiple occasions of businesses and establishments that
- 34:21have closed, but they didn't rip down the actual physical structure. So once
- 34:25the call w into that, it was like, wow, I remember when
- 34:29we did this there, right when that happened there, and you know,
- 34:31a lot of people, what in the world made you decide, okay,
- 34:35let's have a candlelight visual strange, It was a strange event. What actually
- 34:40what it was is we was working on a fundraiser that we have coming up
- 34:44tomorrow, like a very serious one and uh, which, by the way,
- 34:47I'll give you time to plug. Yeah, yeah, that's fine,
- 34:49but go ahead. But we was looking for different We was looking online for
- 34:52different places to get donations and stuff, and he just happened to come across
- 34:57that on the internet. At the sign of the word a you're still hungry
- 35:00or tired of waiting or whatever, that sign says, we don't pay attention
- 35:02to that. But and he was like third tearing the building down. So
- 35:07we just kind of stopped and looked at each other and was like, man,
- 35:12so you know, like so many memories. And then I was like,
- 35:15well, I'm going to make an event for this, Like we'll get
- 35:17a few of our buddies and we'll just go down and hang out. Next
- 35:20thing, you know, twenty eight states later. So I mean this,
- 35:24I first saw it, like a lot of people did. I saw it
- 35:27his event on Facebook and had I reached out to you, and I had
- 35:30never matter of fact, we never met told just now we was talking to
- 35:32them several times this week, but I just met you for the first time.
- 35:37Just now. Were you prepared for how big this thing became? Because
- 35:42it started out just as a little thing, you know, very heartfelt,
- 35:45but a little bit of tongue in cheek to it as well. And the
- 35:46next thing, you know, I mean, this thing is on CNN,
- 35:50it's on Fox News, it's on TMZ. I mentioned yesterday that we had
- 35:54a listener, a regular listener to the show in Brazil. Oh wow,
- 35:58who listens to I didn't know that. So while sent us a message to
- 36:01the w CCHS network Facebook page that he he had heard about it. It's
- 36:06been picked up by newspapers in London, and as I said yesterday, this
- 36:09is the London England, not the one in Kanah count the other London.
- 36:14So I mean, we're did you, in your wildest imaginations, Leo,
- 36:17think that this was going to be a thing, one big, one hundred
- 36:22percent honesty? Never, never, in a million years. It was just
- 36:24one of those things where the Internet runs its course and it just it's spread
- 36:30like wildfire. I mean, and there's you know, there's always a and
- 36:35B side of everything in life, and so you catch heat, you know,
- 36:37a lot of heat, and then you got a lot of praise personally.
- 36:42Yeah, like messages, personal messages people have sent me. You know,
- 36:45why would people care? That's exactly what I don't understand, because they've
- 36:51probably never ever been this iconic figure. Yeah, and it's I don't understand
- 36:54what the deal is. I never will understand that. But I've also got
- 36:58a lot of praise too. You know a lot of old friends that used
- 37:00to go there, a lot of friends of mine that worked there, Hooters
- 37:04employees in general, and not just the fact that it is a Hooters,
- 37:07but thinking taking into account that all the people that lost their jobs, you
- 37:12know what I mean. So that was pretty sad ordeal. So what exactly
- 37:15is going to go on? This thing starts to six point thirty this evening,
- 37:17Yes, so what exactly is gonna happen? So we're gonna show up
- 37:21and we're gonna hunk for Hooters. We'll just have a few signs, bring
- 37:24your own candles. I'll have a table set up. We're gonna hand down
- 37:29some chicken wings with the Hooters traditional sauce. I have a limited amount of
- 37:32the strip cheese sandwiches. Now one exactly are people that don't know what is
- 37:37the strip cheese saying the striped cheese is the god of all sandwiches if you
- 37:39ask me, because it's literally just chicken strips on toasted Texas toasts and melted
- 37:46cheese all in the middle. I mean, it's just Texas toast and cheese.
- 37:51You know what more could you want? God bless America chicken as some
- 37:53chicken and you got it. So our sister station Night Eats of the Mountain
- 37:57is going to be there too. Myself, I'll be there. He's going
- 38:00to be there, and Steve Animal is going to be there with some Mountain
- 38:02swag. He's got some all new Mountain t shirts that have Steve Animal on
- 38:07them and so people have been wanting those. He's going to be handing those
- 38:08out. The I fun fact though, and I mentioned this to the listeners
- 38:10earlier, Steve actually did a live broadcast from there the day that Hooters opened.
- 38:16And what we believe, because you know he did Annimal didn't have a
- 38:21lot of brains on the life. We're assuming I think about ninety five ninety
- 38:23six is when it opened over there, and he was on an unnamed station
- 38:27here in the Canal Valley and did a live broadcast from there. So he's
- 38:30going to be as the Coop said, he's going to bookend this thing.
- 38:32Man. He started out at the very beginning, and it's going to be
- 38:35there in the close. And that's why I was sure to let him know
- 38:37he is an iconic figure for this because it was just meant to be so.
- 38:44But I mean, are you expecting a lot of people tonight, man?
- 38:46I mean, because with the internet you can't tell, like it's either
- 38:50going to be fifty of my friends and our cornhole league or it's going to
- 38:53be fifteen hundred. I don't know, So we'll just have to wait and
- 38:57see. I honestly can't answer that. I'm looking forward to it. Think
- 39:00it's too interesting to be some interesting Just be sure whoever does decide to show
- 39:05up, you know, no outlandish activity. Now, there's not going to
- 39:07be any public intoxication right when I'm looking for anything you want to do that,
- 39:12you can go somewhere else and do it. This is not what we
- 39:14just have an after party. This you have an after party somewhere at your
- 39:16own house or one of the other establishments in the area. Not there.
- 39:20We're not going to be drinking beer on the parking lot. Just saying farewell
- 39:22to the Almighty, So exactly tell us about this fundraiser you got going on
- 39:27here. Yeah, so tomorrow got another fundraiser in the local valley here at
- 39:30the Chesapeake Volunteer Fire Department. What it is is a close friend of mine's
- 39:36daughter, Faith Kender, has recently been diagnosed with a very very serious,
- 39:42rare medical condition and no one on the East Coast can provide any type of
- 39:45help or treatment. So we're trying. We've been trying for a month or
- 39:49so to try to get her some travel expenses so that she can get to
- 39:52California. That's the only place that will accept the treatment. And it's like
- 39:54fifteen twenty grand just to see the doctors, not counting expenses. So wow,
- 40:00an insurance you know how that goes. So this is going on tomorrow
- 40:02with the chess is going on tomorrow. It's win all day event tomorrow is
- 40:06starting in noon, Okay at the Chesapeak Volunteer for Fred to Wartment. Yep,
- 40:08we're gonna give away door prizes. We'll have silent auctions that there will
- 40:13be a kitchen and the old Bengo Hall is what it is. Okay,
- 40:15they'll be yeah on there and the kitchen will be open. We're gonna have
- 40:19a massive cornhole tournament. There will be twenty five thirty five teams, so
- 40:23it's gonna be a lot of people there also as well. Is there a
- 40:25place online you have a Facebook page for that or so have an event for
- 40:29it? Yees? Okay, talk about that? Where can people find that?
- 40:30To what? You just go on Facebook and type out it's all about
- 40:35faith. That's that's the name of that event, because it is all about
- 40:37face. If someone is coming out to the event tonight and would like to
- 40:42donate to that, if they can't make it tomorrow, are you in the
- 40:45position you're your partner to be able to maybe absolutely donations. Yes, we
- 40:47will be accepting donations this evening as well. We'll have a little tip jar,
- 40:52you know, so even if you can't make it tomorrow, and there's
- 40:54also a go fund Me and I'll provide that link to you whenever when I
- 40:59can. So all right, I got a question here for you. Someone
- 41:01says, where do you plan to set up this? The entire block is
- 41:05surrounded by construction fence, right, and that's the biggest question that I've been
- 41:09you know, pounded with. So where when you pull in to Hooters how
- 41:15you used to pull in basically where they're putting all the equipment, where the
- 41:20gates are, there's enough, you know, there's a spot there. That's
- 41:22why I've been attempting to try to get you know, whoever has the property
- 41:27to just let us in on the property. But I can't get an answer
- 41:29from them. So and please don't do anything stupid people. Yeah, we're
- 41:34not. It's not a riot everyone, it's not a riot. So it's
- 41:37a business decision. And that's not the way to pay tribute. Nothing like
- 41:42that. We don't want to, like I said, we don't want anything
- 41:43full each going or anything like that. So let me see. So it
- 41:49says, shouldn't this Hooters location be on the Registry of National Historic Places?
- 41:53After being decided of so many discussions about freedom with the late Governor Underwood,
- 41:59a trying time for everyone who preferred Daytona style wings. That's one of the
- 42:04comments that has realized, you know, like it it's a serious situation.
- 42:07It's an iconic figure in the Kanaal Valley, it really is. It is.
- 42:12And you think about the bike nights that have been held there, oh
- 42:14my gosh, and the car washing, all the stuff. So it starts
- 42:17at six point thirty this evening wrap up about eight. Again, our sister
- 42:22station nine eighty seven of the Mountain is going to be there. We'll be
- 42:23handing out to the new Mountain t shirts and whatnot. And I am very
- 42:28interested in this charitable thing though that you're doing tomorrow. So again, if
- 42:31you can't make it to Chestapeak tomorrow, this would be a great opportunity to
- 42:35come out there and not only pay tribute to the iconic nus if that's a
- 42:38word of Hooters, but also to help out in a great a great cost
- 42:43for the shell. It's very very very serious conditions. So I greatly appreciate
- 42:45the time. I really do. All right, Leo, man, I
- 42:50appreciate you, and on behalf of everybody that loves beer and chicken wings,
- 42:53I appreciate your fine American sir, raise your wings this evening in honor,
- 43:00in honor of the following Hooters that has at big All right, man,

- 47:07yesterday that the artists formerly known as the Super Six and Wheeling the State Football
- 47:10Championship Weekend is coming back to the Capital City SSAC, making that announcement yesterday,
- 47:15It'll be it Lately, or as it's now known, the University of
- 47:17Charleston Stadium for at least the next three years. Jim Brady is the director
- 47:21of the Charleston CVB, and I know he's short on time because he has
- 47:23a meeting at ten. I'm only going to keep you on here a minute
- 47:25or two. Ten Congratulations congratulations are in order. Thanks Dave Big day yesterday
- 47:34when the announcement came down, If you would indulge me though for one second,
- 47:37I just want to refer back to your previous segment, and you know
- 47:40the conversation about the Hooters. I just want to point out something that folks
- 47:44may not know. The at Capital Market. You know, they had the
- 47:47Winter Market the winter holiday weekends this December and there were wooden structures outside that
- 47:55had artists in them and they were serving food and all of that. All
- 48:00of those little wooden structures at Capital Market include reclaimed wood from the Kanaw City
- 48:06Hooters. So if you want to feel that spiritual connection to the kanas City
- 48:09Hooters support Capital Market. I hope my friend Leo, who just left us,
- 48:14that was on the previous second. I hope he's listening to that.
- 48:15So Leo, you can go there, all right. So, yeah,
- 48:17big day, get to it, get to it. Yeah, we're super
- 48:22excited. Thirty years since this event has been held in Charleston, and I
- 48:25want to say, first and foremost, Wheeling set the bar high. They
- 48:30did a great job. We've got a lot of work ahead of us if
- 48:31we want to equal or surpass what Wheeling has done over the years. But
- 48:37we've got a great local group led by Mike Garba Gast, the Host Committee
- 48:40Chair, and collaboration among Certainly, we couldn't do this without mayor any Goodwin
- 48:46in the city of Charleston. The Kanaw County Commission and very importantly the Kanau
- 48:51County Board of Education because they own the field. Joe Varney, the general
- 48:58manager at the field, is a Knall County Board employee and they are integral
- 49:02in us getting this event back. So we have to name check them because
- 49:07we couldn't do this without that very large collaboration. And quickly talk about what
- 49:12this is going to mean in your opinion. You're a numbers guy, you
- 49:15know, I love the numbers too. Sure, what is this going to
- 49:16mean for Charleston. You know what this means is eight football teams coming to
- 49:22the capital city over two days in December. And you know, it's hard
- 49:25to put a number on hotel rooms because we won't know until the week before
- 49:29who's playing. But it does mean that all of these folks will be coming
- 49:32to Charleston visiting the city, and even if they don't stay in hotels,
- 49:36they're going to be shopping here, They're going to be eating here, they're
- 49:38going to be buying gas here. And you know the other thing David does
- 49:42is, you know, I'm big on this notion of not only economic impact,
- 49:46but community impact. This is a sense of this is a source of
- 49:50pride for the city of Charleston and the Charleston community at large. So bringing
- 49:53this back, I think is a huge boost to community pride. We're going
- 49:57to get a lot of great media coverage over the next several months leading up
- 50:00to and including the event. So you know, this event hits all the
- 50:04markers, and we just could not be more excited that we're bringing this back
- 50:07to Charleston for the first time since nineteen ninety What did we have to tell
- 50:10them to get them here? Tim? About personality? Truly, Dave.
- 50:19What we did was we made sure to express to the WVSSAC that our number
- 50:22one concern was the student athlete experience. For a lot of these kids,
- 50:25this is the biggest football game they'll ever play in in their lives, and
- 50:30we want them to come to Charleston, have a great experience, and remember
- 50:34it for the rest of their lives as a positive experience here in the capital
- 50:37city. So we really focused on just that, the student athlete experience over
- 50:44those two days in Charleston, West Virginia. All right, Tim, you
- 50:47got a lot of work to do between now and then. I mean,
- 50:50you realy no kidding. I'm signing you up for the volunteer. The absolutely
- 50:53sign me up. Tim, We'll talk again. Snow, we've got several
- 50:57big events coming up. Go get your meeting. We'll talk again. And
- 51:00so Man, thanks a lot. I appreciate Dave, have a good date.
- 51:01Thank you. Jim Brady again from the Charleston cv B. What a

- 51:35It's freaking awful. Well, not going to lie about that, but here's
- 51:38the thing they got, they got they got months to work on it.
- 51:42And I know that's not a big You know, I've done a lot of
- 51:44event planning in my time. I've never planned anything this big, I can
- 51:46tell you that. But they got a lot of work to do between between
- 51:50now and then. But again, just a big, big win for the
- 51:52city of Charleston to be able to have to have this thing. And I
- 51:55think, as Tim said, Wheeling kind of set the bar pretty high and
- 51:59it just goes to show you good things are happening to Charleston right now.
- 52:04I mean a lot of people thought that the front runner in getting this thing
- 52:07would be the combo effort that West Virginia University and Marshall did to to have
- 52:15the game one year at mile of Pushgar Stadium in Morgantown to the next year
- 52:17at Jones Edwards Stadium in Huntington. But in the end, Charleston, Charleston
- 52:22gets it all right. And I will say that David Price, the executive
- 52:25director of the SSAC, will be on talk line with Dave Wilson, who's
- 52:30in for Hoppy coming up a little bit later on. Speaking of that,
- 52:34I will be on the show today. For some reason, Northern Dave as
- 52:37we call him, reached out to Southern Dave to come on the show at
