- 0:03Speaker 1: That could also be a challenge worth that the polycule
- 0:05Speaker 1: goes to Olive Garden and there's no there's no bigod options.
- 0:10Speaker 1: You have to have the Alpha. They have to go
- 0:12Speaker 1: to Panera and get the broccoli cheddar bread bowl and
- 0:15Speaker 1: then try to have an orgy afterwards. Yeah, there are
- 0:24Speaker 1: a few things that I love more than chaos. Um, addictive, addictive.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I think we're so used to seeing straight romantic chaos
- 0:35Speaker 1: play out on the screen, and very rarely do we
- 0:37Speaker 1: get to watch queer chaos. We as queer people deserve
- 0:41Speaker 1: to be, you know, horrible like messes that can like
- 0:44Speaker 1: barely have an adult conversation with our love. Absolutely, representation matters,
- 0:48Speaker 1: and what I want to see represented is a bunch
- 0:51Speaker 1: of buck days on an island, fucking each other and
- 0:56Speaker 1: also trying to win money. Yeah, the scum of the
- 0:58Speaker 1: scum of like weird people, which is all on one island,
- 1:03Speaker 1: Which is why I loved the sexually fluid season of
- 1:09Speaker 1: Are You the One? And that's what we're gonna be
- 1:10Speaker 1: talking about today with our hilarious guests, truly Honey Pluton,
- 1:16Speaker 1: comedian social media darling. They are going to be taking
- 1:23Speaker 1: us on a deep dive into are You the One?
- 1:25Speaker 1: Because this is like a Virgin the show where we
- 1:27Speaker 1: give yesterday's pop culture today's takes. I'm Rose damn you,
- 1:31Speaker 1: and I'm Fran Toronto. So I know that we said
- 1:34Speaker 1: last week this episode was going to be fully about
- 1:38Speaker 1: secrets of Dumbledore um or Dumbledore sitting on a secret
- 1:42Speaker 1: during a title, But it was just so awful that
- 1:45Speaker 1: we decided Um to have Honey come talk to us
- 1:49Speaker 1: about are You the One? Instead? Yeah? You JK, such
- 1:53Speaker 1: better replacement for sure. Okay, here we are unlike a
- 1:59Speaker 1: ver reunited, reunited united, and it feels so good, Um,
- 2:04Speaker 1: because you just got back from the desert. Yeah. I
- 2:07Speaker 1: was not at Coachella, but I was at one of
- 2:10Speaker 1: the various parties adjacent to coach I thought it was
- 2:12Speaker 1: very funny that I called you crying that my dog
- 2:17Speaker 1: was sick and we could no longer go and I
- 2:20Speaker 1: a friend's birthday party in Catalina, And two hours later
- 2:24Speaker 1: I saw an Instagram story you driving to the desert
- 2:27Speaker 1: to go to Coachela and Coachella. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 2:30Speaker 1: well I was while I was waiting at the animal hospital. Okay,
- 2:33Speaker 1: my baby, I did send you several voice memos asking
- 2:37Speaker 1: if I did know you did. I'm not saying you,
- 2:39Speaker 1: I'm not saying you weren't a supportive friend. I'm just
- 2:42Speaker 1: I'm just saying, yeah, yes you did. I had a
- 2:46Speaker 1: friend that had already invited me, and I said, oh no,
- 2:48Speaker 1: I'm going to be in Catalina that weekend. So when
- 2:50Speaker 1: you called and canceled, I was like, well, I'm gonna
- 2:53Speaker 1: you know, do what I guess. Well, happy birthday, Cheno
- 2:56Speaker 1: who will never listen to that, will never listen to
- 2:58Speaker 1: this podcast. Um anyway, and Catalina Ferry Company, I want
- 3:03Speaker 1: my money back? Are they not? Are you? Are they
- 3:05Speaker 1: giving you? No, No, one's giving me my money back. No,
- 3:08Speaker 1: well I'll still All of a sudden, Venmo requests me
- 3:11Speaker 1: for that. Um. Well, since we last talked, though, there's
- 3:14Speaker 1: been a there's been a Drag Race reunion. There has
- 3:18Speaker 1: been quite a few things going. Did you watch the reunion?
- 3:20Speaker 1: I did watch the reunion. I had nothing else to do.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I mean, obviously I was going to watch it anyway,
- 3:24Speaker 1: but like I literally spent the whole weekend with my
- 3:27Speaker 1: sick dog in my arms. Well, I mean, what did
- 3:31Speaker 1: you think? Oh my god, it was so funny. It
- 3:34Speaker 1: was really good. I was kind of it was really good.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I forgot half of who half of those girls, but
- 3:41Speaker 1: June actually had some amazing moments. Corn Bread was amazing
- 3:44Speaker 1: reactions to everything. I also did love the moment where
- 3:48Speaker 1: Rue Paul was like, so half of you are trans,
- 3:50Speaker 1: now let's talk about that. That was actually really tender
- 3:53Speaker 1: moment because you know, the dolls were all finally present
- 3:57Speaker 1: and out. Yes that I did love carry Colby, the
- 4:00Speaker 1: Sisterhod of the travel Yes, another one, another one. It was.
- 4:06Speaker 1: It was really it was honestly, I mean not to
- 4:08Speaker 1: like give Rue any credit here, but it was to me, Um,
- 4:13Speaker 1: I really like beautiful and almost like healing. To see
- 4:17Speaker 1: that entire conversation not a moment. It would not call
- 4:20Speaker 1: it healing, okay, for sure, for sure shealing, Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 4:26Speaker 1: But I think it was shook that it wasn't just
- 4:28Speaker 1: a moment. It was a full conversation that they had
- 4:31Speaker 1: that spent a lot of time about like the five
- 4:33Speaker 1: trans contestants of this show. And I was like, we've
- 4:36Speaker 1: arrived at this moment where like when you know, way
- 4:38Speaker 1: back when Rue said the thing about you know you've
- 4:41Speaker 1: got yeah, well that too. But also like when Rue
- 4:44Speaker 1: was like, you know, if you have boobs, you can't
- 4:45Speaker 1: compete or whatever, and I'm sure, yeah, well, I mean,
- 4:49Speaker 1: I I was, um, again not going to give to
- 4:54Speaker 1: Brew too much credit, but I was really taken aback
- 4:57Speaker 1: when at the end of that kind of conversation he specific,
- 5:01Speaker 1: very specifically said, you all are my teachers. Like he
- 5:04Speaker 1: said that verbet He's like, you all are my teachers.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Like I appreciate this, and I appreciate the person who
- 5:09Speaker 1: wrote that line for him. I you know that I
- 5:13Speaker 1: I I'm not, again not trying to give Rue too
- 5:15Speaker 1: much credit, but I do know that he's very smart,
- 5:18Speaker 1: and I do not think that he has necessarily know
- 5:20Speaker 1: he wants to be. He wants to be on the
- 5:21Speaker 1: right side of history. I think that is where he
- 5:24Speaker 1: has arrived. And I don't know his actual politic is
- 5:26Speaker 1: because he's never actually held himself accountable and never actually
- 5:30Speaker 1: like really apologize for what he's because I'm sure he
- 5:33Speaker 1: doesn't think he has anything to apologize. But the thing is,
- 5:36Speaker 1: and I think that this is true at least for me.
- 5:37Speaker 1: I won't speak for anybody else, but like, apologies don't
- 5:40Speaker 1: mean shipped to me, and actions mean everything. So if
- 5:42Speaker 1: he's here having this, well, having the space for their conversation,
- 5:49Speaker 1: that to me was what was really beautiful. Well, but
- 5:52Speaker 1: also I mean, like the aside from like like Cornbread's reactions,
- 5:56Speaker 1: like which was so amazing. I was shook by how
- 6:00Speaker 1: much I loved everything Maddie Morphosis said. You know what,
- 6:03Speaker 1: Maddie Morphosis, Loki is really funny, came all the way around,
- 6:07Speaker 1: And I guess like you kind of have to be
- 6:11Speaker 1: to have that identity in that context, like you have
- 6:14Speaker 1: to be able to keep up, and like I do
- 6:17Speaker 1: think that throughout the season, and especially in her fight
- 6:21Speaker 1: with um Jasmine Kennedy and Untucked, like she she like
- 6:26Speaker 1: held her own absolutely. I think also Jasmine versus Dia
- 6:32Speaker 1: was also like I did not expect Jasmine to hold
- 6:34Speaker 1: her on and she did actually say everything that she
- 6:36Speaker 1: needed to say. And I also didn't expect Dia to,
- 6:39Speaker 1: like um like own up to being a dick the
- 6:43Speaker 1: way she didn't know. And I also didn't think I
- 6:45Speaker 1: would ever empathize with her. And even though I still
- 6:47Speaker 1: think that she's kind of like a piece of ship,
- 6:49Speaker 1: like I, I did find humanity and like the fact
- 6:53Speaker 1: that she's getting a bunch of death threats here. Okay,
- 6:55Speaker 1: so who's gonna win? I'm gonna this is my prediction
- 6:58Speaker 1: of what's happening in Oinally, I think, unfortunately, Um, Willow
- 7:04Speaker 1: and Anigeria will get like knocked out pretty early in
- 7:07Speaker 1: the night, and then I think it will come down
- 7:12Speaker 1: to Lady Camden and Diabetti. I think there will be
- 7:17Speaker 1: think the and I think Lady Camden is gonna win.
- 7:20Speaker 1: That would be so so horrible, Um, I but I
- 7:23Speaker 1: know that that's the world that we live in. You know.
- 7:25Speaker 1: There there's gonna be a twist that eliminates a favorite.
- 7:29Speaker 1: It's gonna be hard to watch. Willow might honestly get
- 7:31Speaker 1: eliminated first. That would be Here's the thing, though, is
- 7:34Speaker 1: that what we need? Willow on All Stars anyways? Like
- 7:38Speaker 1: I absolutely would stand that because she's already won, you
- 7:42Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like, she's already she will probably
- 7:44Speaker 1: be Miss Congeniality literally and she will maybe the most
- 7:48Speaker 1: beloved contestant of the season no matter who the winner is.
- 7:51Speaker 1: The fifth one. Uh Bosco, Oh Bosco is not gonna win.
- 7:55Speaker 1: No no, no. Um. Also, things that did not win
- 8:00Speaker 1: was you and I went to go see the quote
- 8:02Speaker 1: unquote gay Harry Potter, which is how you framed into me.
- 8:07Speaker 1: It's how it was framed literally by a wardener. No no, no, no,
- 8:11Speaker 1: no no. They released one clip and you were like,
- 8:13Speaker 1: it's the gay Harry Potter film. Well, I was obviously
- 8:16Speaker 1: being hyperbolic when I say that this movie was nothing
- 8:21Speaker 1: like it was nothing nothing, We can't even make fun
- 8:24Speaker 1: of it, like nothing to even make fun of. No,
- 8:27Speaker 1: it was such a filler movie, like because the stories
- 8:32Speaker 1: there's they're supposed to be five of them, and this
- 8:36Speaker 1: is the third one, and it's very clearly supposed to
- 8:39Speaker 1: be like just like setting the stage for the next two,
- 8:44Speaker 1: which I don't think are happening for the virgins. Can
- 8:46Speaker 1: you contextualize the kind of swirl of controversy that's kind
- 8:49Speaker 1: of happening over the course of these post Hogwarts Harry
- 8:52Speaker 1: Potter film. Yes, so. Um. I don't know if you've heard,
- 8:55Speaker 1: but Jakie Rowling is a turn. There actually was a
- 8:59Speaker 1: very interesting article in Variety which I talked to you about,
- 9:01Speaker 1: which is about how this film franchise is so embattled
- 9:06Speaker 1: by all of these scandals that Warner Brothers really kind
- 9:11Speaker 1: of wants to kill it. Um and all of these
- 9:15Speaker 1: insiders saying that they don't think it has a way
- 9:17Speaker 1: forward and that like the only way to make Harry
- 9:19Speaker 1: Potter work is for them to do something that's really
- 9:21Speaker 1: focused on the original stories. Because okay, you've got j
- 9:25Speaker 1: k Rowling being a turf and because of that, like
- 9:28Speaker 1: she can't do any press. You know, they're very strict
- 9:31Speaker 1: about what the actors like. They don't get to do
- 9:34Speaker 1: any like long form interviews. And then there's the Johnny
- 9:39Speaker 1: Depp of it all, um, and then choking someone getting
- 9:45Speaker 1: in bar fights like which, first all, let's just say
- 9:48Speaker 1: non binary or bad representation again very important. When I
- 9:53Speaker 1: saw Ezra Miller's mug shot this like past week, I
- 9:55Speaker 1: was like, you know what, this representation really does matter.
- 9:59Speaker 1: And I'm not even saying in a joking way, like
- 10:01Speaker 1: I think we deserve to have this moment too, you know. Yeah,
- 10:04Speaker 1: but um, you know, did you know do you know
- 10:06Speaker 1: why they were? Why they were because it was because
- 10:08Speaker 1: it was a song, Because they were at a karaoke
- 10:11Speaker 1: bar and they were really upset that someone was singing shallow.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Well I would be too, Um. So the odds are
- 10:20Speaker 1: very much stocked against this franchise. But you know, it's
- 10:23Speaker 1: a Harry Potter quote unquote movie. Um, so I'm sure
- 10:29Speaker 1: that people are seeing it, although someone I followed did
- 10:32Speaker 1: tweet a photo of like the empty screening they were at,
- 10:35Speaker 1: so I'm sure. I mean it's projected. I think to
- 10:37Speaker 1: not do as well as any of the other ones, um,
- 10:40Speaker 1: like particularly like post COVID. But I think the last
- 10:45Speaker 1: one also was kind of a flop, and it's just
- 10:49Speaker 1: you know, he tried to rewatch the last After we
- 10:51Speaker 1: saw this, I was like, you know, maybe it's because
- 10:53Speaker 1: I didn't see the last one, and it was I
- 10:54Speaker 1: had not well on the way to the movies. Our
- 10:58Speaker 1: friend ash on the YouTube video that recapped in the
- 11:02Speaker 1: past two movies, and none of us had any idea
- 11:06Speaker 1: of what was happening, and like and you know, like
- 11:09Speaker 1: I'm a die hard Potter girl despite everything, um and
- 11:15Speaker 1: even I like could not remember a single thing that happened.
- 11:19Speaker 1: These movies are just bad. And like the gay stuff,
- 11:23Speaker 1: the gay, the gayest stuff in the gay Harry Potter
- 11:26Speaker 1: movie was like basically irrelevant to the plot. It was
- 11:29Speaker 1: like two lines and Dumbledore talking about being in love
- 11:32Speaker 1: with Grinda Wald and then they exchanged some like longing
- 11:35Speaker 1: glances which you know were cut for China. That's what
- 11:38Speaker 1: I was going to say, the fact that like China
- 11:40Speaker 1: could cut it like within like a minute. And well,
- 11:43Speaker 1: it's like how they made it that way. They made
- 11:46Speaker 1: it so that they could do that exactly. Oh my god,
- 11:48Speaker 1: didn't even think about that of course. Um And like
- 11:52Speaker 1: I the cynical part of me thinks like if J. K.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Rowling had never come out as a turf, we wouldn't
- 11:58Speaker 1: even have that, because it did feel to me like
- 12:02Speaker 1: they're they're even positioning it as like a queer love
- 12:07Speaker 1: story to show that like she's not she's not phobic
- 12:13Speaker 1: against everyone in and of itself transphobic. Like to put
- 12:17Speaker 1: like cis gay guys in a movie and be like
- 12:19Speaker 1: this is reparative to like trans anti trans harm is
- 12:22Speaker 1: like stupid. But like the other thing about that, like
- 12:26Speaker 1: the queer romance is it was not a queer romance
- 12:30Speaker 1: of any kind. There's no element of the gayness that
- 12:33Speaker 1: is wound through any other portion of the movie in
- 12:36Speaker 1: any way whatsoever, point blank period. And also the movie
- 12:40Speaker 1: is just bad, it's boring. The only good scene was
- 12:43Speaker 1: the crab scene. There's a crab scene. There's a crab
- 12:45Speaker 1: scene that as a cancer I found. Um, I really
- 12:48Speaker 1: related to Oh my god, what's her name, Jessica? Jessica,
- 12:52Speaker 1: Oh no, we can't, I will talk about her. I
- 12:56Speaker 1: was bummed because I am a die hard to Queen's
- 12:59Speaker 1: fan and she used to was that show? She was horrible?
- 13:02Speaker 1: But it was it was huge mega flop due to
- 13:05Speaker 1: content on on like later episodes of Two Queens. She
- 13:10Speaker 1: tells a story of how she met JK Rowling and
- 13:13Speaker 1: how is this kind of like really transcended experience in
- 13:15Speaker 1: very serendemicitis not on tra yea, this is not? And
- 13:20Speaker 1: then jk Rowling JK Rolling famously cast her on this spot.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Was like there, we're doing a movie and we think
- 13:26Speaker 1: that she's like your sis, right yeah, but like but
- 13:30Speaker 1: like this was before this proceeded that the turf controversy.
- 13:34Speaker 1: It's interesting that she was able to do a transatlantic accent.
- 13:38Speaker 1: But I I mean, because all of the actors are
- 13:40Speaker 1: after like a multimillion dollar non disparagement agreements, there's like
- 13:43Speaker 1: nothing any of them can ever do or say. Um,
- 13:45Speaker 1: Jude Law was like fine, even though he wasn't in
- 13:49Speaker 1: it a lot. I thought when he was first cast,
- 13:52Speaker 1: I thought that made complete sense, but he just so
- 13:54Speaker 1: fades into the movie. He didn't doesn't really do anything.
- 13:57Speaker 1: And I have a lot of issue with the continuity
- 14:02Speaker 1: of the Wizarding World and its rules that are displayed
- 14:05Speaker 1: in this movie, especially Muggles go in and out of it. Yeah,
- 14:08Speaker 1: just like something like the fact that they that Dumbledore
- 14:12Speaker 1: has the meat in the Room of Acquirement. And one
- 14:14Speaker 1: of the big parts of the last Harry Potter book
- 14:17Speaker 1: is that Dumbledore never knew about the Room of Requirement.
- 14:20Speaker 1: And it's like she doesn't even care about her own canon.
- 14:24Speaker 1: She is such a bad writer and creator. And the
- 14:28Speaker 1: movie just sucked. It was bad. It wasn't even like
- 14:31Speaker 1: offensively bad. It was just nothing. Yeah, And for me,
- 14:35Speaker 1: the continuity, the lack of continuity, is really in the
- 14:38Speaker 1: fact that the German Minister of Magic looked exactly like
- 14:42Speaker 1: Grinda Walt and they were alarmingly similar, and I could
- 14:45Speaker 1: not focus. I did like that one of his henchmen
- 14:48Speaker 1: looked like if Ron Weasley did ketamine. I did catch
- 14:52Speaker 1: that guy specifically because you leaned over and said, that
- 14:55Speaker 1: looks like Ronley Ron. Also, when the movie ended and J. K.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Rowling's name came up with the credits, we did boo that.
- 15:05Speaker 1: And can we also say in terms of the vibe
- 15:07Speaker 1: of the crowd that we were sitting in, everyone was
- 15:09Speaker 1: talking through this movie, but we were talking the loudest. No, well,
- 15:14Speaker 1: yeah we do talk. We're talking now. Very annoying. But
- 15:19Speaker 1: the president was set like usually rosen the only ones
- 15:22Speaker 1: like maybe kind of but like was between us. We
- 15:30Speaker 1: might as well be on your sofa and your apartment.
- 15:34Speaker 1: But the fact that no one in the theater had
- 15:36Speaker 1: respect for this film. Actually there was one person that
- 15:38Speaker 1: tried to clap at the well. Also you didn't have
- 15:41Speaker 1: respect for your theater because as we were leaving France
- 15:44Speaker 1: spilled an entire bucket of popcord on the ground. I
- 15:48Speaker 1: was so disinterested in the movie in general that I
- 15:50Speaker 1: left to go refill popcorn and soda, which I never
- 15:53Speaker 1: ever do. I like, if I had had to, I
- 15:56Speaker 1: would have taken a ship during that movie. Oh, that
- 15:59Speaker 1: would have been a protest, we all got. I would
- 16:02Speaker 1: have taken a ship on the movie. On the reel.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I have to like give everyone a little bit of backstory. Honey,
- 16:25Speaker 1: you are, I think, like one of the funniest people
- 16:28Speaker 1: I have. I'm not going to say discovered, because that
- 16:31Speaker 1: sounds very gross, but when we're in Hollywood, I mean
- 16:38Speaker 1: I mean that, and like as in the Instagram discovery
- 16:41Speaker 1: what it's called the Explorer page, but it's about discovery,
- 16:43Speaker 1: which I think also the for you page on TikTok
- 16:46Speaker 1: was about discovering um. And a few months ago one
- 16:49Speaker 1: of your TikTok's popped up and it was the one
- 16:52Speaker 1: can can. It was the bottom one can. Eating ass
- 16:57Speaker 1: is actually first base because at the stand up comedian,
- 17:00Speaker 1: I unfortunately have to encounter the heterosexual male hack, which
- 17:05Speaker 1: is now guys talking about eating ass as this like
- 17:09Speaker 1: you know, gigantic ravishing phenomenon, as if for like you
- 17:14Speaker 1: and I and you and I'm assuming the listeners at
- 17:17Speaker 1: home is not just like a fundamental like basic part
- 17:21Speaker 1: a pillar of human sexual it's just part of their diet, right,
- 17:27Speaker 1: literalid Right, It's it's like the bottom of the period
- 17:34Speaker 1: the good part or the top the top is the
- 17:36Speaker 1: bottom whole grain, not us trying to figure out what
- 17:43Speaker 1: And I am a nutritionist in the bottom of the snack, right,
- 17:50Speaker 1: So talking about that, and then I think I said
- 17:52Speaker 1: that gay. Second base was Dionysed his hero worship and
- 17:58Speaker 1: I think is asking your partner what their last name.
- 18:03Speaker 1: I think the one that I think, the one that
- 18:04Speaker 1: I really liked was the one where you said something
- 18:07Speaker 1: like if you see this, you were meant to see it, right, Yeah,
- 18:11Speaker 1: you're a bottom. And then also, um, I did one
- 18:14Speaker 1: that was taken down where I said, if you see this,
- 18:16Speaker 1: you're meant to see it, you're a faggot and let
- 18:18Speaker 1: me community Guideline's So now they want to force it. Um, well,
- 18:25Speaker 1: I remember when you did the eating astrict because Rose
- 18:27Speaker 1: sent it to me and I was like, is this
- 18:29Speaker 1: the funniest thing I've seen in likens? Like I just
- 18:33Speaker 1: remember you have such a magnetic kind of like personality
- 18:37Speaker 1: and it's so interesting. So we are all just for
- 18:39Speaker 1: the for the virgins. We're all meeting for the very
- 18:41Speaker 1: first time, and I feel like I've known you forever,
- 18:44Speaker 1: but you have a very um um calming Instagram presence
- 18:53Speaker 1: being somewhat I mean this as a compliment abrasive, of course,
- 18:57Speaker 1: I was going to say a dirt back absolute like
- 19:01Speaker 1: you feel you feel like someone I've done ketamine with
- 19:03Speaker 1: at five A and like it's very possible that we
- 19:08Speaker 1: have It's like two genders two genders ago, like two
- 19:15Speaker 1: names ago, Like oh my god, wait, you're sucked. Excuse me,
- 19:20Speaker 1: I didn't mean to say it. Right now, it's like
- 19:22Speaker 1: I'm actually beetle juice, like that's what it is. Beet
- 19:26Speaker 1: Juice is such a chosen name hundred percent. But then
- 19:29Speaker 1: it's also like I know, well, I was about to
- 19:32Speaker 1: say I know a siss baby, but because that's something,
- 19:37Speaker 1: but I I know sis parents who name their baby
- 19:40Speaker 1: beetle names like that used to be earned, bitch. It's
- 19:45Speaker 1: like baby just give their parents trans names now, like
- 19:49Speaker 1: it's so unfair. I know it's baby is one of
- 19:53Speaker 1: the things I don't want to be. I don't know.
- 19:59Speaker 1: That's what I'm gonna start asking. That's what people tell
- 20:01Speaker 1: me they're pregnant and say, oh my god, is your
- 20:03Speaker 1: baby sis? But now I feel like babies like when
- 20:07Speaker 1: they are trans and they choose that. Like I feel
- 20:10Speaker 1: like in ten years, all the trans girls are gonna
- 20:12Speaker 1: be named like Daphne, Rebecca, Rebecca, Artemis, Diana, Cassiopia. But
- 20:24Speaker 1: now it's like all the Park Slope moms are naming
- 20:26Speaker 1: their SIS babies artimists. Yeah, they're oh my god, trans
- 20:30Speaker 1: girl names chosen names are now the names that like sis,
- 20:36Speaker 1: straight parents are choosing for their baby Hayden Jack's yeah,
- 20:41Speaker 1: not either. The cycle is going to complete itself, so
- 20:45Speaker 1: we're gonna go fully back to just naming everyone like
- 20:47Speaker 1: Matt and Mike, like just are chosen. Names are going
- 20:50Speaker 1: to be like Matt, Mike and John. I think that's more.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Or we're gonna be named like you know, our babies
- 20:55Speaker 1: are gonna be named like Facebook. That's what's the next
- 21:01Speaker 1: wave of trans people will name themselves like Stephen my
- 21:07Speaker 1: new child, better help do com Jessica. Yeah, that's actually
- 21:13Speaker 1: that's at a great name. Either Zach or Doc are
- 21:17Speaker 1: great non binary names if they were twins. But we
- 21:21Speaker 1: did lure you here for a reason, of course, UM,
- 21:25Speaker 1: and it is to talk about I think one of
- 21:29Speaker 1: the most exciting reality shows, UM seasons of one of
- 21:34Speaker 1: the most exciting seasons largely about ever seen UM. And
- 21:39Speaker 1: we're talking specifically about are you the one season? Eight? Eight?
- 21:43Speaker 1: That's what I thought eight The what was known, I
- 21:46Speaker 1: think culturally is the bisexual season, but what was known
- 21:49Speaker 1: literally in copy as the sexually fluid s Oh, that's right,
- 21:54Speaker 1: I love sexual fluidity. Well, first, should we give the
- 21:58Speaker 1: an explainer of what are you? The one is because
- 22:00Speaker 1: I had never watched it, anyone else could explain it
- 22:03Speaker 1: because the format is actually extremely complicated. Honey, could honey,
- 22:08Speaker 1: could you lay it out for us? Okay, I definitely
- 22:11Speaker 1: want to like hold space for fran by saying that,
- 22:13Speaker 1: like me, trying to explain the concept of this reality
- 22:15Speaker 1: show is like playing a game with three dimensional chat
- 22:18Speaker 1: It's like so convoluted. Okay, So they bring twelve I
- 22:23Speaker 1: believe twelve singles to an island, and on that island,
- 22:28Speaker 1: each of the singles has one of their perfect pairs.
- 22:33Speaker 1: So once so you that has been decided by the show,
- 22:37Speaker 1: by a group of producers. They tell you it's like
- 22:41Speaker 1: professional matchmakers, like psychological, but it's but it's experts, but
- 22:45Speaker 1: it's in reality, it's like twenty four year old Siss
- 22:49Speaker 1: women with brown hair and like Louis Baton never pulled
- 22:52Speaker 1: out right. And it's also like so unfair, like that
- 22:56Speaker 1: should be my job, Like I love pretending like I'm
- 22:59Speaker 1: a matchmaker. I think I have really good taste in
- 23:01Speaker 1: people regardless and like who everybody should date. So when
- 23:05Speaker 1: it's like the straight Seasons, then it's easier because it's like, Okay,
- 23:09Speaker 1: I'm a girl, so it's one of these six guys
- 23:11Speaker 1: is going to be my pair, but on the sexually
- 23:14Speaker 1: fluid season, it could be any of them. So that
- 23:18Speaker 1: leads to the mayhem, the mischief, and the math the
- 23:22Speaker 1: literal math, no, the literal math and if I remember correctly,
- 23:25Speaker 1: So they are given their perfect pairings and they have
- 23:29Speaker 1: to go through the season choosing people and if they
- 23:33Speaker 1: if they pick the right person, then they all get money, yes,
- 23:37Speaker 1: but if they pick the wrong people, some of that
- 23:39Speaker 1: money is taken away. So the way that it works
- 23:42Speaker 1: is at the end of every episode they go to
- 23:44Speaker 1: this like colosseum where they are literally and they have
- 23:49Speaker 1: to walk like pair and pair and sit next to
- 23:52Speaker 1: who they've decided is their perfect match. And then there's
- 23:56Speaker 1: this massive reveal where if they have posen correctly, then
- 24:03Speaker 1: pillars of light will appear from the floor that says
- 24:09Speaker 1: that it's the right match. This has happened every time
- 24:13Speaker 1: I've hooked up with someone from grinding, what happened literally
- 24:18Speaker 1: shoots up from the floor. Right, It's like the Hollywood
- 24:20Speaker 1: sign explode and you're like, I've done the right thing.
- 24:24Speaker 1: And then if they do find their perfect matches. Oh no, no,
- 24:31Speaker 1: no, no no, no, this is wrong, because there's also the
- 24:34Speaker 1: boom Boom room. Oh, the boom boom room is where
- 24:37Speaker 1: they fuck. Then it's like a it's another room. There's
- 24:41Speaker 1: another room. How do they know? How do they decide
- 24:45Speaker 1: that there's open? Then there's honeymoon island. Yeah, okay, so
- 24:49Speaker 1: there's a room that they're able to send Okay, So
- 24:51Speaker 1: basically this is what high complicated. But like there's another
- 24:57Speaker 1: kind of room island thing that they that the group
- 24:59Speaker 1: can side to send a couple to to fact check
- 25:02Speaker 1: if they are in fact the perfect match, whereas with
- 25:05Speaker 1: the Beams of Light, they don't know who's who they
- 25:10Speaker 1: are perfect match. But if they do lock in the
- 25:14Speaker 1: correct match, then they get to go on their honeymoon
- 25:17Speaker 1: and they like sit the whole season only if they
- 25:20Speaker 1: do the correct match in one of the challenges and
- 25:23Speaker 1: not with the Pillars part. Yes, and so honestly, for
- 25:26Speaker 1: the listeners at home who have already like started dissociating
- 25:29Speaker 1: and doing other tasks, as we try to explain, like
- 25:32Speaker 1: but like but like the thing is, it's like messy
- 25:35Speaker 1: and like everyone's queer and queer. The rules are like
- 25:39Speaker 1: totally unimportant, right, And it was marketed largely as the
- 25:43Speaker 1: sexually fluid, the first sexually fluid reality dating. But I
- 25:47Speaker 1: think queers written large found it to be a cultural phenomena,
- 25:51Speaker 1: at least intercommunally. Rose and I were working out at
- 25:54Speaker 1: the time, and I edited so many fucking pieces about
- 25:56Speaker 1: this show, and I never did a whole podcast episode,
- 26:00Speaker 1: and I feel like that, like it was just a phenomenon,
- 26:03Speaker 1: like you could not avoid it, and it was this
- 26:05Speaker 1: seol because it was like I remember what it was
- 26:09Speaker 1: like nineteen, Like I would when I was living in
- 26:13Speaker 1: Seattle at the time. I would like go to bars
- 26:17Speaker 1: and have them play it on the TV live and
- 26:22Speaker 1: should be seen the dragons. Like I would come with
- 26:24Speaker 1: like thirty friends to a bar and be like, you
- 26:26Speaker 1: have to play the show on MTV for us right now,
- 26:28Speaker 1: Like I promise we'll all like ordered cheese fries and
- 26:31Speaker 1: get really wasted and we will all like scream and
- 26:35Speaker 1: like lose our ship. Because it makes so much sense
- 26:38Speaker 1: for a dating show because you look at things like
- 26:41Speaker 1: The Bachelor and it's like one person with all these
- 26:44Speaker 1: matches and like, of course there's so much drama inherent
- 26:48Speaker 1: and that, but like the drama has an endpoint. There's
- 26:51Speaker 1: only so many permutations of messiness that could happen. But
- 26:56Speaker 1: on this sexually fluid are you the one when everyone
- 27:00Speaker 1: can be into each other, there are just so many
- 27:04Speaker 1: possibilities for shenanigans to go down. I was going to
- 27:08Speaker 1: say that I watch a lot of reality dating shows.
- 27:12Speaker 1: I know, I follow you onely. It really is like
- 27:15Speaker 1: my favorite form of any sort of like sociological experiment,
- 27:20Speaker 1: because you're just like watching people give themselves PTSD because
- 27:23Speaker 1: they don't want to be alone. Like it's so it's
- 27:28Speaker 1: really just like I don't know, just like harves On,
- 27:31Speaker 1: what we're all the most scared of, Like are we
- 27:32Speaker 1: going to die alone? And I'm willing to put myself
- 27:35Speaker 1: like in the pen opticon to be like witnessed doing it.
- 27:38Speaker 1: But in other reality dating shows, it doesn't they don't
- 27:41Speaker 1: prioritize fucking enough. But in this one too, where it's
- 27:45Speaker 1: like that is part of the incentive that you kind
- 27:47Speaker 1: of all have to funk each other. Oh my god.
- 27:49Speaker 1: And it happened so quickly because so Remy is a
- 27:53Speaker 1: good friend of mine, and like it was of course
- 27:55Speaker 1: was a contest on the show. Remy Duran was the
- 27:58Speaker 1: first person to go in the boom boom him with
- 28:01Speaker 1: I want to think Kai the trans guy who like
- 28:03Speaker 1: of course everyone wanted to Okay, so wait, let's let's okay. Look,
- 28:08Speaker 1: let's talk quickly about the casting because because a lot
- 28:11Speaker 1: of the queer people they were it's a queer season
- 28:14Speaker 1: or whatever. But in terms of casting, you know that
- 28:16Speaker 1: the people casting the show are like the cissist most
- 28:19Speaker 1: hetero sexual people ever. So a lot of like these
- 28:22Speaker 1: queer people look like they work at them all, like
- 28:25Speaker 1: they look very normal. But Kai has like universal like
- 28:31Speaker 1: queer hotness, Like I think he's like seemed to be
- 28:34Speaker 1: attractive to a lot of different terrains and corners. And
- 28:37Speaker 1: on the rise, tea boy is like you know, like
- 28:44Speaker 1: and like you know, like top surgery scars, he'll down
- 28:49Speaker 1: down right. You can talk about the moment where like
- 28:55Speaker 1: Kai was like doing his slight tea shot and he
- 28:57Speaker 1: was like yeah, like I have to do oh my god,
- 28:59Speaker 1: and like, oh my god, like intromuscular or what. But
- 29:08Speaker 1: it was like come on, he was doing it as
- 29:10Speaker 1: like a kind of like yeah, baby, I have to
- 29:11Speaker 1: do this all the time. Like, but they also had
- 29:14Speaker 1: besit who's non binary. When they only hired or like
- 29:18Speaker 1: cast like one non binary person, there's like two trans
- 29:21Speaker 1: people and then yeah, a bunch of like Zara floor managers.
- 29:29Speaker 1: But besit storyline with I think Jonathan was it was,
- 29:35Speaker 1: it was, but it was also really interesting, like how
- 29:39Speaker 1: it made Jonathan confront his own internalized misogyny. Period. Okay,
- 29:45Speaker 1: so here's the thing that was. Like when I watched
- 29:48Speaker 1: the show, which I only watched it recently, I think
- 29:50Speaker 1: I watched it in December because I was so exhausted
- 29:52Speaker 1: from ed any pieces about it. I was like, I'm
- 29:54Speaker 1: never going to watch the show. And so when I
- 29:56Speaker 1: did watch it, I remember seeing that and being like, oh, actually,
- 30:00Speaker 1: like I mean, I'm disappointed that like allposite did on
- 30:04Speaker 1: the show was like to do emotional labor, like I
- 30:08Speaker 1: wish it's it's like twenty minutes on your break and
- 30:15Speaker 1: they're like, okay, while you have your like mental camel cry,
- 30:21Speaker 1: They're like, okay, this is what being an onn binary
- 30:24Speaker 1: literally literally, and so when you know what they might
- 30:27Speaker 1: do that at yes, I would what I'm saying, I
- 30:30Speaker 1: would have loved to visit to have found love, but
- 30:33Speaker 1: like in that moment, I was like whoa, Like the
- 30:35Speaker 1: power of queerness is like eradicating like mascut toxic masculinity
- 30:40Speaker 1: from this space. Because there were those two bros that
- 30:42Speaker 1: were like in love with each other, but they like
- 30:44Speaker 1: wanted to fight all the time. Yes, and they had
- 30:49Speaker 1: and they had to have a moment with them. And
- 30:50Speaker 1: then when Kai was like sucking everybody, there was like
- 30:52Speaker 1: a literal transformative justice circle that took place in a
- 30:55Speaker 1: hot u. And I do feel toxic masculinity ends tonight. Yes,
- 30:59Speaker 1: I do feel like and this sounds so like gross
- 31:04Speaker 1: to say, but I do feel like they all grew
- 31:07Speaker 1: over the course of the season. Like I think it
- 31:11Speaker 1: was like one of the one of the rare seasons
- 31:14Speaker 1: of a reality dating show where the people who were
- 31:16Speaker 1: on it like there they actually like enriched their lives,
- 31:21Speaker 1: maybe in a way other than getting like spawn con opportunity.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Totally beautiful thing. I totally agree. A lot of the time,
- 31:28Speaker 1: like for reality shows, growth is so manufactured. But it
- 31:31Speaker 1: really did felt like they went through that together like
- 31:33Speaker 1: they because they all really wanted the money. And I
- 31:35Speaker 1: do think that like for those the two bros that
- 31:37Speaker 1: were in love, like there were a lot of people
- 31:39Speaker 1: on the island or they even on an island or
- 31:42Speaker 1: the resort or whatever. They were like, Yeah, there were
- 31:48Speaker 1: a contestants that were like that you could tell that
- 31:51Speaker 1: they had no queer friends, like that they had not
- 31:55Speaker 1: been in queer community. So for the bros To finally
- 31:58Speaker 1: interact with someone like Besit, someone like Kai or someone
- 32:01Speaker 1: who is kind of like has the tools or rather
- 32:04Speaker 1: is just therapized, you know what I mean, for them
- 32:07Speaker 1: to kind of be like, oh, yeah, like this is
- 32:09Speaker 1: like how we deal with things here. It's kind of
- 32:11Speaker 1: you've never because reality TV like profits off of like
- 32:15Speaker 1: everything being messy and you your inability to work through something.
- 32:19Speaker 1: It was kind of amazing to watch like a bunch
- 32:21Speaker 1: of queers be like, but let's have this moment to
- 32:24Speaker 1: like actually that they're probably used to being the only
- 32:29Speaker 1: queer employee us. But that is why the show to
- 32:35Speaker 1: me was so like magical and I like aid it
- 32:39Speaker 1: up so voraciously and like why all my friends were
- 32:42Speaker 1: just so obsessed with it. Where it's like you get
- 32:45Speaker 1: to see one all of the tropes that as a
- 32:48Speaker 1: gay person we like collect throughout our lives, like psycholocal
- 32:53Speaker 1: girl who like you know, wants to hit him everyone
- 32:56Speaker 1: after like three shots of gold Schlager, who's literally everyone
- 33:03Speaker 1: you know, like cringe, trans guy who's like sobbing in
- 33:07Speaker 1: the corner because he's not getting like the tail that
- 33:09Speaker 1: he wants. It's just like all of the above, like
- 33:13Speaker 1: him and the who was it Jenna that he was
- 33:15Speaker 1: like with then like kissing in the rain and making up.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Kai unfortunately got real old, real facts absolutely, like literally heartbreaking.
- 33:29Speaker 1: I also feel like maybe this is like so men
- 33:31Speaker 1: and we'll have to edit out. But like Kai was
- 33:32Speaker 1: the reason why I was like, I'm going to be
- 33:34Speaker 1: a brunette now. I no longer want to be like
- 33:38Speaker 1: trans guy with like bleach blonde hair, Like I'm done,
- 33:40Speaker 1: Like I'm putting that aside. I finally I've come to
- 33:44Speaker 1: terms with it. Right, So there was that, and but
- 33:47Speaker 1: also like Danny, who was like the nerdy one, was
- 33:52Speaker 1: like trying to figure his place out in the world
- 33:55Speaker 1: and was like a like like so sweet and then
- 34:03Speaker 1: it's like him and it's also so funny because him
- 34:06Speaker 1: and Kai were a perfect match, and like Kai is
- 34:10Speaker 1: like actual like repulsion with that as a reality was
- 34:14Speaker 1: so challenging. I was like, dude is so sweet and
- 34:17Speaker 1: cute because I absolutely know that couple. Absolutely. I mean
- 34:23Speaker 1: that's the thing about watching the show, we know all
- 34:26Speaker 1: of those people. How was the show received outside of
- 34:43Speaker 1: I like, I don't even know. I don't know what
- 34:47Speaker 1: I wonder And I feel like I would like to
- 34:50Speaker 1: see like the Nielsen ratings because there hasn't been another
- 34:54Speaker 1: season of another all queer season, because it does raise
- 34:59Speaker 1: the question where it's like, obviously, would straight people want
- 35:04Speaker 1: to watch it? No? Why wouldn't they? Because it's so
- 35:08Speaker 1: good it was It's such a perfect reality TV. I
- 35:12Speaker 1: feel like also like there the show to me, like
- 35:16Speaker 1: this isolated season was like the strongest argument for just
- 35:19Speaker 1: queer reality shows in general. Queer people thrive in that
- 35:23Speaker 1: environment because we make drama and drama, trauma, drinking. There
- 35:29Speaker 1: was so much fucking five the five Oh yeah, there was.
- 35:34Speaker 1: There was five in the five songs. I mean, if you're,
- 35:41Speaker 1: if you're, if you decide to watch it on Paramount
- 35:44Speaker 1: Plus when you get home, y'all should let us know
- 35:45Speaker 1: who was in the five songs because I want to know.
- 35:48Speaker 1: But there was a five song, yeah, and we would
- 35:49Speaker 1: have everyone who is in the five song honest a guest, yes,
- 35:53Speaker 1: but it's funny too that you were talking about math,
- 35:55Speaker 1: because the last episode of the show was I think
- 35:59Speaker 1: it is carry just being like, we need to stop
- 36:03Speaker 1: fucking each other and we have to figure out who
- 36:05Speaker 1: are perfect matches through and Danny and Dan Danny the
- 36:10Speaker 1: nerd and they literally like also, I love Carrie did
- 36:13Speaker 1: not get enough play. She was like perfect hak girl.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Same with Kylie, and she didn't get enough really open
- 36:19Speaker 1: to Kylie, really want. I think they didn't have the
- 36:26Speaker 1: like psychosis necessary to be good reality exactly. It's not
- 36:34Speaker 1: like Jenna, who like wakes up in the morning and
- 36:37Speaker 1: is still like in TikTok by Kesha and I'm going
- 36:41Speaker 1: to end someone's fucking life tonight. I closed down every
- 36:46Speaker 1: bar and like Landsing Michigan, like just so frightening. I'm
- 36:50Speaker 1: gonna I'm gonna break my morphie blending breast in half
- 36:54Speaker 1: and pull it out of your chest and do some
- 36:58Speaker 1: really bad imake literally or like justin Avery r Max,
- 37:02Speaker 1: who were like, We're putting on a Hawaiian shirt and
- 37:04Speaker 1: Chelsea boots and we are going to start conflict every night.
- 37:09Speaker 1: The gay guys they well they're not gay there by um,
- 37:13Speaker 1: everyone's faggot right. It's so funny because like you think
- 37:18Speaker 1: on a show like this that like the you know MLM,
- 37:23Speaker 1: and I don't mean not men loving men um like
- 37:27Speaker 1: that they would be the sluttiest and most promiscuous. But
- 37:30Speaker 1: they were, funnily enough, the people who coupled up the quickest,
- 37:34Speaker 1: I know, subverting gender norms that But it was the
- 37:38Speaker 1: w l w's. Yeah, it was these like crazy dikes
- 37:42Speaker 1: that just like ran through each other formula one style,
- 37:46Speaker 1: like so fucking nasty, like one after the other. Because
- 37:52Speaker 1: I I but this is also something that feels very
- 37:54Speaker 1: true to life. I was going to say a tenant
- 37:57Speaker 1: that I believe with all of me is that Dike
- 38:00Speaker 1: trama is more fundamentally destructive than faggot drama. Trauma has
- 38:07Speaker 1: the half life of like a ladybug, like in and out,
- 38:10Speaker 1: But Dike drama is like trauma, it is time and
- 38:15Speaker 1: time again, like these Dikes feud for and the question
- 38:19Speaker 1: for you have you watched Tampa Bay's. Tampa Bay's is
- 38:25Speaker 1: a reality show on Amazon about a group of lesbian
- 38:29Speaker 1: friends in Tampa and one of them has like returned
- 38:34Speaker 1: from being gone for a while. She's like in in
- 38:38Speaker 1: like Tallahassee, and she comes back and everyone's like, oh
- 38:42Speaker 1: she's back. Her name is Cubby Cuffy not Cuy, and
- 38:48Speaker 1: you're like, I know, the wrong consonant um. No, When
- 38:52Speaker 1: like a Dike comes back, it's like you're back from war.
- 38:55Speaker 1: It's literally it was like the beginning of Gossip Girl.
- 38:58Speaker 1: It's like someone saw Serena gritting off the train of
- 39:00Speaker 1: Grand Central, but they're all lesbian. When a faggot moves
- 39:03Speaker 1: back to town, it's like, hey, girl, do you want
- 39:06Speaker 1: to go to the mall? Like I didn't realize he
- 39:09Speaker 1: left because I know like twenty people who look just
- 39:12Speaker 1: like you. Of course, no, but it really is extremely
- 39:15Speaker 1: true to life. Well that was I mean, that's the
- 39:17Speaker 1: funny thing about kai On. Are You the One? Was like,
- 39:20Speaker 1: was very much this energy of someone we all know
- 39:23Speaker 1: in far spaces, of a trans guy who like is
- 39:27Speaker 1: still approaching relationships through the lens of like lesbian culture,
- 39:31Speaker 1: but wanting to be approaching relationships through the lens of
- 39:35Speaker 1: gay male culture and as like an annoying funk boy.
- 39:37Speaker 1: A precedent to DAS. Honestly, second season Are You the one?
- 39:48Speaker 1: If DAS existed, they absolutely would host it. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 39:53Speaker 1: I mean maybe they water season a funck Boy Island
- 39:58Speaker 1: on HBO. Have you watched fun Boy Island? I have
- 40:03Speaker 1: love beautiful, perfect, and I just love I love a
- 40:08Speaker 1: reality dating show too, because I like to have what
- 40:14Speaker 1: the like pantheon of attractiveness be reflected back to me
- 40:19Speaker 1: and then for me to be like wait, what, like
- 40:23Speaker 1: I love I love being shown like these are America's
- 40:28Speaker 1: hottest bachelors and I'm like, what, like why that's so
- 40:33Speaker 1: t that's so true. It's like a marvel to see
- 40:36Speaker 1: what people are attracted to. Totally, the most nondescription people
- 40:41Speaker 1: think the most attractive queer people are manager because on
- 40:47Speaker 1: The Bachelor, you see all these women fighting over someone
- 40:49Speaker 1: who like he is the most gorgeous person I've ever
- 40:52Speaker 1: seen in my life, and he's like all fourheads. Okay,
- 40:55Speaker 1: But I do think that the people on Are You
- 40:58Speaker 1: the One are like, I think, like more believable, Like
- 41:01Speaker 1: they look like they're like hot, but they also like
- 41:05Speaker 1: look normal totally, and I don't know any gained normal
- 41:09Speaker 1: people know me either, not not my world. When the show,
- 41:14Speaker 1: like first, when it was first kind of coming out
- 41:16Speaker 1: and marketed as like the sexually fluid season, I remember
- 41:19Speaker 1: feeling like very allergic to that because to me, like
- 41:22Speaker 1: to be sexually fluid is kind of a thing that
- 41:24Speaker 1: like pr girls tell like straight celebrities to say about
- 41:28Speaker 1: their gender to evade controversy that they that they're doing
- 41:31Speaker 1: or honestly like Lucas Hedges or like other like they're
- 41:34Speaker 1: like slevies that have done that before. What's going on
- 41:37Speaker 1: with her? I don't know, We'll see, but like anyways,
- 41:40Speaker 1: I felt like I was like, that feels very like
- 41:42Speaker 1: they should just say queer, you know what, But they
- 41:44Speaker 1: think it's a bad word exactly. They think it's a
- 41:46Speaker 1: bad So it was to me sexually fluid. I'm like, calm,
- 41:49Speaker 1: piss It's like when I when you when I read sexually,
- 41:53Speaker 1: I like sexual fluid. It's the first Pisskake season. Are
- 41:59Speaker 1: you the one? It's the first like slipping slide like
- 42:03Speaker 1: squir Anyways, I was the first all Come season. I
- 42:15Speaker 1: remember being like really kind of like disarmed by the
- 42:18Speaker 1: p s a s that are at the end of
- 42:19Speaker 1: every episode that if you would like to support the
- 42:22Speaker 1: sexually fluid community, if you want to support the community,
- 42:28Speaker 1: like my whole life has been has been committed to
- 42:31Speaker 1: supporting the sexually fluid community, usually through sexual fluid. I
- 42:36Speaker 1: am sponsored by Sniffy's for sure. Um, but I remember
- 42:40Speaker 1: what is Sniffy's. It's like the darker it's Grinder, but
- 42:44Speaker 1: even Grinder, but it's on a web platform. Yeah yeah,
- 42:47Speaker 1: you can't. It's Grinder for desktop and like no faces ever,
- 42:53Speaker 1: no faces pictures, pictures, but just concord. But I do
- 43:02Speaker 1: remember when I started watching this show, I was like,
- 43:05Speaker 1: like actually very surprised by the effortlessness of the fluidity
- 43:09Speaker 1: within the show. Like someone was like fuck a boy,
- 43:12Speaker 1: like and then a girl. I don't like that. That
- 43:17Speaker 1: was really the only times people were like contesting with
- 43:20Speaker 1: their sexuality was when it was like justin and or
- 43:24Speaker 1: like or what it was like bit and Jonathan and
- 43:27Speaker 1: then Jonathan had to be like, oh, I'm having my
- 43:30Speaker 1: own moment. But it was people were like slip and
- 43:32Speaker 1: slide and who care? And then I remember it thought
- 43:36Speaker 1: about parts. It's about hearts, and I remember like the
- 43:38Speaker 1: kind of like we ho brows that are on the show.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Like I remember being like, there's no way you're going
- 43:41Speaker 1: to sleep with a girl and like and then they do,
- 43:43Speaker 1: and it's so crazy because this is on paper, Like
- 43:47Speaker 1: I heterosexual relationship, but like, you know, the snake has
- 43:50Speaker 1: eaten its own tail and it's queer again. And I'm like,
- 43:52Speaker 1: how is this? How does this feel like more radically
- 43:55Speaker 1: queer than if they were like making out with the
- 43:57Speaker 1: guy And I'm like, if Max could fuck a guy
- 43:59Speaker 1: and girl, I'm like, what's my excuse? You know what
- 44:01Speaker 1: I mean, It's like everyone watching at home, it's like,
- 44:05Speaker 1: let's like, let's get some fluidity going. It's like, let's
- 44:08Speaker 1: if they can do it, we can all do it.
- 44:10Speaker 1: I just think it's part of like the pan sexual, bisexual,
- 44:14Speaker 1: queering indoctrination of the world that I wish to see.
- 44:19Speaker 1: We're all just a series of holes, and just of
- 44:24Speaker 1: the show that we haven't discussed yet is the relationship
- 44:27Speaker 1: expert element of that. Remember her name? I'm sure it
- 44:31Speaker 1: was like, I don't know, like Greta or Hannah. Yeah.
- 44:34Speaker 1: She it's it's it's like it's like Mrs Doctor who
- 44:39Speaker 1: has like a very like pink misunderstood haircut. Yes, and
- 44:45Speaker 1: then like one gigantic tattoo's giving a brown She grew
- 44:52Speaker 1: up like I don't know, like on like long beach round.
- 44:59Speaker 1: She you knew how to surf and well apparently they
- 45:06Speaker 1: like they interviewed like all of their like exit apparently
- 45:09Speaker 1: they like interviewed all of their like exes and like
- 45:12Speaker 1: moms and basically like, can you imagine like what it
- 45:19Speaker 1: would happen to you on this I'm just gonna say
- 45:21Speaker 1: it island, um because it's a it's an island in
- 45:26Speaker 1: my brain. Can you imagine what would happened if you
- 45:28Speaker 1: were a contestant on this show and someone has interviewed
- 45:32Speaker 1: everyone you've like hooked up with or like been in
- 45:34Speaker 1: a room? How would they find though about me personally?
- 45:40Speaker 1: All my exes are very scared of me. Yeah, they would.
- 45:44Speaker 1: They would like they would like go through all my
- 45:45Speaker 1: old Craigslist emails and people would be like who oh him,
- 45:52Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, it makes sense. It would be a
- 45:59Speaker 1: lot of people be like, good, good for her, she
- 46:02Speaker 1: l a, she's happy. Good name? Love that my name?
- 46:13Speaker 1: Please don't ask them, do not ask my name. There
- 46:17Speaker 1: was a challenge they had to do with the Relationship
- 46:19Speaker 1: Expert that I do think is brilliant, where they had
- 46:22Speaker 1: to put together a piece of ikea furniture coup like
- 46:27Speaker 1: that's actually like whatever. In turn wrote that that's like
- 46:30Speaker 1: so brilliant culture, lesbian culture. I would say, I'm I
- 46:35Speaker 1: don't know if identifies a lesbian identify as a Dike
- 46:37Speaker 1: for sure, and then in like a Dike relationship, and
- 46:41Speaker 1: I don't put it together. That's none of my business.
- 46:44Speaker 1: I do think that I do think Galaxy Brain would
- 46:47Speaker 1: have been making them go to Ikea, but they probably
- 46:51Speaker 1: I don't think. No, they're like on the island off
- 46:54Speaker 1: the coast of Cuba, will if you try to leave
- 46:56Speaker 1: your electrocuted, so there's no I keas there. I remember
- 47:01Speaker 1: that challenge was really surprising because the large majority of
- 47:03Speaker 1: the things that they have to do, like in terms
- 47:05Speaker 1: of like activities, programming, challenges, are actually very they felt
- 47:09Speaker 1: very not of the queer imagination. Yeah, I mean I
- 47:12Speaker 1: think they had except for the Glitter Party. Yeah. That
- 47:14Speaker 1: they're the queer problem, the dot sponsored queer problem. And
- 47:18Speaker 1: they're all like mervays. That is the that is the
- 47:24Speaker 1: first thought for like queers being um, you know, like
- 47:28Speaker 1: free and like yes, it's always mermaids, right, and I know,
- 47:34Speaker 1: but that but also it's like I guess one thought
- 47:36Speaker 1: I'm having about why mervays come first. It's like, but
- 47:39Speaker 1: where's the whole But if queer people could figure out
- 47:42Speaker 1: how to fund as mermaids, it would be queer people
- 47:46Speaker 1: how to figure it out. Yeah, yeah, the technology is there,
- 47:49Speaker 1: we have the technology, will just make a little shim
- 47:52Speaker 1: like cut a hole out. I'm like usually very cynical
- 47:55Speaker 1: when it comes to things like a queer problem or whatever.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Like I think, I don't know, it wasn't even working
- 48:00Speaker 1: idea so long. I've just kind of seen the same
- 48:01Speaker 1: idea over and over again. But my heart melted so
- 48:05Speaker 1: hard during only like watching these boys put glitter on
- 48:11Speaker 1: and be like, oh my god, so middle school, we're
- 48:15Speaker 1: watching a one a grind train, like five people all
- 48:20Speaker 1: like a fac right, it's like all like breaking it
- 48:25Speaker 1: down in slow motion. Yes, where it's like you're throwing
- 48:33Speaker 1: glitter in the air and playing. Someone has to clean
- 48:36Speaker 1: that up, right or I guess it just becomes like
- 48:38Speaker 1: the microplastics that we like eat now it just goes
- 48:42Speaker 1: back up and becomes toxic. Ran But yeah, it was
- 48:45Speaker 1: extremely wholesome, and I usually detest anything that's wholesome. But
- 48:50Speaker 1: I just think that they have all been like somatically
- 48:52Speaker 1: processing their traumas so immensely, like they deserved that. Well,
- 48:57Speaker 1: that's The thing is the season started out like so horny,
- 49:01Speaker 1: and you're like, oh, yeah, they all want to fuck
- 49:03Speaker 1: each other. Yeah, the first sexually fluid season of the
- 49:06Speaker 1: Are You the One? And then it turns by the
- 49:09Speaker 1: end surprisingly sweet and in the last episode they all
- 49:12Speaker 1: want to work together to get the money and with
- 49:15Speaker 1: straight people that would never happen. I've never watched another
- 49:18Speaker 1: season of the show, but I already know it wouldn't happen.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Like and with at least half the cast in the
- 49:22Speaker 1: first episode. You watched the first episode, You're like, I'm
- 49:24Speaker 1: not rooting for you. I'm not rooting for you. Don't
- 49:25Speaker 1: remember you, like there are a lot of people. You're like,
- 49:28Speaker 1: there's I'm not invested at all, and you become invested
- 49:32Speaker 1: in pretty much every single character. Is kind of arc
- 49:35Speaker 1: because it does really feel hurt and it is beautiful
- 49:39Speaker 1: that they were never until like do date the clock
- 49:44Speaker 1: is striking thinking about making money. They were like, I'm
- 49:48Speaker 1: really just here to like fucking suck, and then they
- 49:51Speaker 1: were like, wait, all right, there's a million dollars. I
- 49:55Speaker 1: guess we can like make a flow chart really quick.
- 50:11Speaker 1: I don't know if you all know this, Like Industry
- 50:13Speaker 1: Insider scoop. What do they eat on the island? They
- 50:18Speaker 1: soil and I think they had to cook for themselves,
- 50:22Speaker 1: so they weren't eating they like they're they're fridges stocked
- 50:27Speaker 1: and then they have to figure meals out themselves. Oh
- 50:29Speaker 1: my god. So they were just I don't know, eating
- 50:31Speaker 1: like Keena the whole time, Like what do you remember
- 50:34Speaker 1: watching them eat a lot of Ben and Jerry's? I
- 50:36Speaker 1: would Ben and Jerry, but if you like, I hope
- 50:40Speaker 1: it's like, what can I say? I know, how would
- 50:43Speaker 1: they I guess they could just bring um? Yeah? Did
- 50:48Speaker 1: or did they provide that? Like that's what I was wondering.
- 50:51Speaker 1: What was in the house? Like was their shell full
- 50:53Speaker 1: of condoms, douches, lube poppers like um, like a shoot
- 50:59Speaker 1: of a laundry machine, sewing sentinel strips, yes, sentinel right,
- 51:12Speaker 1: a little like you know, place for your for kai
- 51:15Speaker 1: syringes to go? Yeah, where is he depositing? Yeah? I'm
- 51:21Speaker 1: shocked that no one else came out as trans over
- 51:24Speaker 1: the course of the season. Well it's so true because
- 51:27Speaker 1: I'm not watching drag Race right now. But isn't that
- 51:29Speaker 1: everyone everyone girl, girl girl half of the cast is
- 51:35Speaker 1: trans and you know, RuPaul is in his trailer like
- 51:39Speaker 1: throwing things at the literally he is like melting and shrinking,
- 51:43Speaker 1: and he's like becoming a little raisin. Yeah, it's the
- 51:47Speaker 1: best way to stick it to him. But that's the thing, is,
- 51:49Speaker 1: like it sucks that actually that Drag Race is the
- 51:52Speaker 1: only queer reality show, like the only one that has
- 51:55Speaker 1: made it to the mainstream or even anything even close
- 51:59Speaker 1: to the mainstream. Well, I had a little there's also
- 52:01Speaker 1: Queer Eye. Well but is that a reality show. It's
- 52:05Speaker 1: more like a makeover. Yeah, you know, well I having
- 52:08Speaker 1: a reality competition is what I meant to say, reality competition.
- 52:11Speaker 1: I had like a tweet slash Instagram post that went
- 52:14Speaker 1: viral where I said I love reality shows because I
- 52:17Speaker 1: like watching straight people be psychologically terrorized. And so some
- 52:21Speaker 1: people saw that it did some numbers, and then some
- 52:23Speaker 1: people were commenting like, oh, well, well do you count
- 52:26Speaker 1: drag Race, And I was like, yes, yes, absolutely, yes,
- 52:30Speaker 1: of course I like when gay people are psychologically terrorized more.
- 52:34Speaker 1: Obviously it's community harm. That's what we're here for. And
- 52:39Speaker 1: this season did, of course have the first six heterosexual
- 52:44Speaker 1: contestant of h Yeah, so at least one straight person
- 52:49Speaker 1: was being terrorized and he was being terrorism. If you
- 52:52Speaker 1: got to conceptualize the reality show where you got to
- 52:55Speaker 1: terrorize straight people or queer people, what would it look like.
- 52:58Speaker 1: It would definitely be a data show. And I've always
- 53:02Speaker 1: thought about this. I also really want to be on
- 53:05Speaker 1: reality TV one day. That's definitely a goal of mine.
- 53:10Speaker 1: I don't really know where I would be able to
- 53:12Speaker 1: fit into that, but I believe that with enough like
- 53:15Speaker 1: diversity and inclusion training, they could have like they could
- 53:21Speaker 1: fit like a rancid like non binary with like chip teeth,
- 53:25Speaker 1: who like whose fingers are always sticky, like somewhere to play.
- 53:31Speaker 1: But I think, I really think it would be all
- 53:37Speaker 1: of the dating shows combined. And I think that the
- 53:42Speaker 1: twist would be maybe that they like. Well, I think
- 53:48Speaker 1: what I would want and what I don't like. Here's
- 53:52Speaker 1: what I'm trying to say. There would have to be
- 53:54Speaker 1: a lot of fucking. It would have to be like
- 53:56Speaker 1: a fucking centric show. Would have to be part of
- 53:59Speaker 1: the concert exactly. Literally the one comes the one where
- 54:06Speaker 1: I don't I think that there would be psychological Oh no,
- 54:10Speaker 1: here's what it would be. You would be psychological warfare.
- 54:12Speaker 1: Because it would be the first one that's somehow threaded
- 54:17Speaker 1: in polyamory, feel like or are you the two are
- 54:24Speaker 1: many people? That's the thing about are you the one?
- 54:26Speaker 1: Is like it's still a very polyamorous it's it's well
- 54:29Speaker 1: it is, but like it's still a very heteronormative end
- 54:33Speaker 1: goal because they all have to have one person. So
- 54:36Speaker 1: on your show, we're turning that on its head, right,
- 54:39Speaker 1: So my show would be like lots of fucking would
- 54:42Speaker 1: be like polyamorous where there could be more than one
- 54:44Speaker 1: person you could end up because then that then that
- 54:48Speaker 1: makes it even messier and more complicated. Like maybe people
- 54:51Speaker 1: would go on with their polycules like wife swap, but
- 54:56Speaker 1: like polycule swap, or it could be like more get
- 55:00Speaker 1: me in the barroom, or maybe it's someone's like punk squad,
- 55:06Speaker 1: Yes exactly. I think that would be great where it's like,
- 55:10Speaker 1: how can we make all of them do their dishes
- 55:14Speaker 1: somehow somehow chore wheel because like Resort Island is like
- 55:23Speaker 1: to it's not it's not queer enough, Like it would
- 55:27Speaker 1: have to take place at a squad, Yes, it would
- 55:33Speaker 1: have to take place like in the mountains of North Carolina,
- 55:37Speaker 1: where it's like where are all of the queers like
- 55:40Speaker 1: living in their land projects and how can we follow
- 55:44Speaker 1: them through there? But I think I would also really
- 55:47Speaker 1: want to have one in the vein of the real
- 55:52Speaker 1: alt word, where it like happens like in Los Angeles.
- 55:56Speaker 1: I love like that, so where it's like the old
- 55:59Speaker 1: style where you're in the city, because I love like
- 56:03Speaker 1: Dike drama that happens like at a bar where oh,
- 56:06Speaker 1: who's just walked in? You know where I could see
- 56:11Speaker 1: this happening is in New Orleans because New Orleans has
- 56:15Speaker 1: a very like a very femilining queer community and it's
- 56:20Speaker 1: like very punk. Everyone suck each other and they fight
- 56:25Speaker 1: and they fight, they fight fighting. Okay, so we're so
- 56:31Speaker 1: the real world, but the polyamorous Okay, so it's like Paul,
- 56:37Speaker 1: It's like polyamorous fat life somehow, right. Sex workers are
- 56:45Speaker 1: their challenges are still games because I like the challenges
- 56:50Speaker 1: because it forces people to work together. So I think
- 56:54Speaker 1: some of the challenges would be like I need you
- 56:58Speaker 1: all to like make up for Tata after like doing
- 57:02Speaker 1: a line of Kendemy. And we also need some kind
- 57:06Speaker 1: of twist, because that's what all reality dating shows need now,
- 57:10Speaker 1: is some kind of gimmick or twists. So the twists
- 57:14Speaker 1: would be what if we forced some of the people
- 57:17Speaker 1: to transition. I as, yeah, we would have to transition
- 57:23Speaker 1: would have to be like a good like forced feminizations,
- 57:27Speaker 1: like you take them like you take the most like Muscily,
- 57:31Speaker 1: like we ho gay guy of the pack and are
- 57:35Speaker 1: like your name is Iris, now up. Yeah, and it's
- 57:41Speaker 1: like giving you like a skim's body and like just
- 57:45Speaker 1: like twenty four hours where you can't go to the
- 57:47Speaker 1: jam and we're just gonna see what happens. Yeah, maybe
- 57:51Speaker 1: it's like if we're doing it like punk style, it's
- 57:53Speaker 1: like we're forcing them to like live away from their animals.
- 57:57Speaker 1: I think that extremely challenging. My god, I have like
- 58:01Speaker 1: your dog with you while you were like traversing these
- 58:05Speaker 1: lines of like your psycho sexual And it could be
- 58:08Speaker 1: part of the twist is that they told them that
- 58:10Speaker 1: they could bring their dogs and you can't anymore. But
- 58:15Speaker 1: I don't know if I would want mine to have
- 58:17Speaker 1: a twist. I think that I would really want it
- 58:19Speaker 1: to be like you're coming and looking for love, but
- 58:23Speaker 1: you can bring your existing partner with you, but you're
- 58:27Speaker 1: like polyamorous, so so it's like you're going with your
- 58:31Speaker 1: partners looking to expand your polycuele and then the challenges
- 58:40Speaker 1: would be, like you all have to like go to
- 58:43Speaker 1: Costco together, but none of you have a membership, so
- 58:46Speaker 1: you have to like figure out who's going to sign
- 58:48Speaker 1: up for it, or like one of you tries to
- 58:52Speaker 1: like get a like get a credit card. You have
- 58:55Speaker 1: bad credit, like you would have extremely like banal all
- 59:00Speaker 1: things you have getting you have to wait in the
- 59:02Speaker 1: pharmacy line at callum lord. Literally you have to fill
- 59:06Speaker 1: out literally one like form, literally one form, just literally
- 59:12Speaker 1: anything that requires a signature. Try to get a rental
- 59:15Speaker 1: car from enterprise, you have to go. You have to
- 59:17Speaker 1: go to a party where you're not on the list. Heartbreaking, heartbreaking. Yeah,
- 59:23Speaker 1: So I think some other fun challenging a plant alive
- 59:26Speaker 1: Maybe that would be hard, pimple popping fun things said
- 59:32Speaker 1: I love to do with my partner. You have to
- 59:34Speaker 1: you have to drink dairy milk. Well, the most controversial
- 59:39Speaker 1: thing about me is that when I very rarely get
- 59:42Speaker 1: any cream in my coffee. But if I do, it's
- 59:44Speaker 1: actual cream. If I do, you're not queer. I'm literally heterosexual.
- 59:49Speaker 1: I'm just transitioning to straight. Yeah, yeah, exactly. I get
- 59:53Speaker 1: like a quartado with whole milk, and everyone's like, wow,
- 59:59Speaker 1: I like drink milk anymore. And I used to love
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: like I would love a glass of whole milk when
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: I used to be a nanny in college, Like one
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: of my favorite things was that they bought really bougee milk.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: And when I ate dinner with the kids, we would
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: all have a glass of milk and it helps. So decadent,
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: that's white culture. I'm sorry. Eating eating having a glass
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: of milk with like a whole plate of pasta is
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: like disgusting to me, like to meat milk, and in theory,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: in theory, it does sound good to me now, but
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: like I know that I couldn't do it and that
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: my body would feel so disgusting afterwards. Well, I have
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: a joke where I'm like, set a cheeny carbonara literally
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: has the ability to put my friends in the hospital.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: Chicken Alfredo is like a public health risk, like the
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: novel coronavirus food. It's like that is like more damaging.
