Speaker 1: Good morning, Mafia! It's Thursday, September 17th, which means it's
• 0:15
Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills game day, and this is the morning charge.
• 0:19
Speaker 1: Your daily 10-minute or less Buffalo Bills news hit. I'm
• 0:22
Speaker 1: Aaron Quinn, here with Colin Ritchie, bringing you everything you
• 0:26
Speaker 1: need to know before you start your day. Let's get
• 0:29
Speaker 1: into it. Tonight is finally the night. The Buffalo Bills
• 0:32
Speaker 1: host the Detroit Lions in the very first regular season
• 0:35
Speaker 1: game to be played at New Highmark Stadium. There's a
• 0:38
Speaker 1: lot on the line tonight, including a huge personal milestone
• 0:41
Speaker 1: for Buffalo's head coach. With a win tonight, Joe Brady
• 0:45
Speaker 1: can become the first head coach in Bills franchise history
• 0:47
Speaker 1: to start his head coaching career 2-0. In 66 years
• 0:51
Speaker 1: of football in Western New York, no head coach has
• 0:53
Speaker 1: ever won his first two games leading this team. If
• 0:57
Speaker 1: you aren't making it to Highmark Stadium tonight, here's where
• 0:59
Speaker 1: you can catch all the action. As always, Thursday Night
• 1:03
Speaker 1: Football will be broadcast on Amazon Prime. The game kicks
• 1:07
Speaker 1: off at 8.15 Eastern, streaming on Amazon Prime with Al
• 1:10
Speaker 1: Michaels and Kirk Herbstreet calling the action from the booth.
• 1:14
Speaker 1: On your local radio, you can tune in locally to
• 1:16
Speaker 1: 97 Rock to hear our guys Chris Brown, Eric Wood,
• 1:19
Speaker 1: and Steve Tasker bringing you the home radio call. Officiating
• 1:23
Speaker 1: the game is referee Ron Torbert's crew. Torbert has served
• 1:27
Speaker 1: as a head official for 11 Bills games over his career.
• 1:31
Speaker 1: and the Bills hold a 5-6 record in those matchups.
• 1:33
Speaker 1: This includes two losses last season, a 30-13 loss to
• 1:37
Speaker 1: the Dolphins and a narrow 13-12 home loss to the Eagles. However,
• 1:42
Speaker 1: in the Josh Allen era, the Bills are slightly better
• 1:45
Speaker 1: at 5-4 with Torbert on the field. Torbert led the
• 1:48
Speaker 1: NFL in offensive penalties in Week 1. A massive 68%
• 1:52
Speaker 1: of his crew's flags went towards offensive infractions, primarily offensive holding,
• 1:57
Speaker 1: false starts, and offensive pass interference. Torbert is historically tough
• 2:02
Speaker 1: on home teams. Since 2018, true home teams are just
• 2:07
Speaker 1: 58-73-1 against the spread under his watch. While home teams struggle,
• 2:11
Speaker 1: away teams cover at 55% rate under Torbert.
• 2:16
Speaker 2: Matchup history. The Bills and Lions have faced off 13
• 2:20
Speaker 2: times in NFL history, with the very first matchup back
• 2:23
Speaker 2: in 1972 ending in a 21-21 tie. Since then, The
• 2:29
Speaker 2: Bills have the all-time advantage with an 8-4 record. Buffalo
• 2:33
Speaker 2: has won the last five times these teams have met,
• 2:36
Speaker 2: including a shootout back in 2024, their most recent win,
• 2:40
Speaker 2: that ended 48-42. In that game that saw 90 combined points,
• 2:45
Speaker 2: Josh Allen threw for 362 yards and two touchdowns and
• 2:47
Speaker 2: ran for 68 yards and two more touchdowns. James Cook
• 2:50
Speaker 2: added 14 carries for 105 yards and two scores on
• 2:52
Speaker 2: the ground. Buffalo's leading receiver in that game was Ty Johnson,
• 3:02
Speaker 2: who turned five receptions into 114 yards. Greg Rousseau, Ed Oliver,
• 3:07
Speaker 2: and Christian Benford all sacked Jared Goff, and Matt Milano
• 3:11
Speaker 2: recovered a fumble for the game's only turnover. Also in
• 3:15
Speaker 2: last matchup, the Bills' defense limited Jameer Gibbs to just
• 3:19
Speaker 2: 31 rushing yards on eight carries, but were exploited by
• 3:22
Speaker 2: Amon Ross St. Brown. who recorded 14 receptions for 193
• 3:26
Speaker 2: yards and a touchdown.
• 3:31
