- 0:25Speaker 1: Welcome to opposition territory here at the Philadelphia Sports Table
- 0:28Speaker 1: podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly sports podcast show
- 0:31Speaker 1: in the world, over twelve and a half years strong.
- 0:34Speaker 1: We've got a great Eagles Chargers preview show coming your
- 0:37Speaker 1: way this week. I'm Jeff Warren. I'm here with my
- 0:40Speaker 1: good buddy from the Locked On Chargers podcast. He's a
- 0:44Speaker 1: busy man, especially this week as this Eagles team is
- 0:47Speaker 1: gonna be going up against the Chargers on Monday Night football.
- 0:50Speaker 1: We've got David Drogmayer, Dave, Buddy, Dan, thanks so much
- 0:53Speaker 1: for taking the time. Appreciate it.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Absolutely a pleasure.
- 0:56Speaker 3: We've done this a few times now, and I always
- 0:58Speaker 3: take it as a compliment. When I get asked to
- 1:00Speaker 3: return back to somebody's show, that just means that I
- 1:03Speaker 3: was able to provide some quality input, and absolutely I
- 1:06Speaker 3: always try to take.
- 1:07Speaker 2: That as a compliment.
- 1:08Speaker 3: So I'm happy to be doing this with you here
- 1:10Speaker 3: again on a highly anticipated, very very important prime time matchup.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Yes, and it really is. This matchup is going to
- 1:17Speaker 1: be so interesting from an offensive and defensive standpoint. We're
- 1:21Speaker 1: certainly going to be getting into it during the discussion here.
- 1:23Speaker 1: But Dave I've been starting our Opposition Territory podcast off
- 1:27Speaker 1: in our preview shows week after week, really talking about
- 1:31Speaker 1: the team that the Eagles are going to be facing
- 1:33Speaker 1: in a two part question in terms of the strengths
- 1:35Speaker 1: and weaknesses of that team. So let's get that discussion
- 1:39Speaker 1: started here, just to give our listeners a little background
- 1:42Speaker 1: as to you know, who this Los Angeles Chargers team
- 1:45Speaker 1: really is. I mean, still definitely in the playoff picture
- 1:48Speaker 1: as we head into week fourteen. They're the number one
- 1:50Speaker 1: wild card spot over in the AFC as we are
- 1:53Speaker 1: recording this. So get us started, Buddy, what has been
- 1:56Speaker 1: the biggest strength of this Chargers team as we're heading
- 1:59Speaker 1: into fourteen of the season here.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Yeah, biggest strength of the of this football team, starting
- 2:04Speaker 3: on the defensive side, is their past defense. They've been
- 2:07Speaker 3: one of the best pass defenses in the National Football League.
- 2:10Speaker 3: They are definitely in the top ten in passing yards allowed.
- 2:14Speaker 3: And that's coupled with, you know, the way they play defense,
- 2:16Speaker 3: which is keeping those two safeties. It's very similar to
- 2:18Speaker 3: how the Eagles do. You know, they keep those safeties
- 2:21Speaker 3: on the back end and they kind of try to
- 2:22Speaker 3: force everything to be you know, done in front of you,
- 2:25Speaker 3: and so they've done a really good job of that,
- 2:27Speaker 3: marrying that with a pass rush that when they're in
- 2:29Speaker 3: that situation where they can pin the years back, they've
- 2:32Speaker 3: been highly successful getting after the quarterback and on offense,
- 2:37Speaker 3: it's really just about finding that balance that they're at
- 2:40Speaker 3: their best when they're able to run the ball and
- 2:43Speaker 3: do the play action off of it. Justin Herbert has
- 2:46Speaker 3: four different receivers that have over five hundred receiving yards
- 2:49Speaker 3: ye this season, so he has been spreading the ball around.
- 2:53Speaker 3: But when they're able to run the ball and dictate
- 2:56Speaker 3: what they want to do to the opponent, that's when
- 2:58Speaker 3: they're at their best. Trying to take a little bit
- 3:00Speaker 3: off of Justin Herbert's plate is the recipe that allows
- 3:04Speaker 3: them to have the most success on offense.
- 3:07Speaker 1: We're going to talk about Justin Herbert in a little
- 3:09Speaker 1: bit and the quarterback position is going to be looking
- 3:11Speaker 1: like But on the flip side of that, coin, Dave,
- 3:14Speaker 1: what has been the biggest weakness on this team thus
- 3:16Speaker 1: far that we're going to need to look at as
- 3:18Speaker 1: we're heading into Week fourteen here.
- 3:20Speaker 3: The biggest weakness on this team is obvious. It's the
- 3:23Speaker 3: interior of the Chargers offensive line, they have struggled with,
- 3:28Speaker 3: you know, being able to you know, keep Justin Herbert upright.
- 3:31Speaker 3: He's been sacked thirty eight times so far. The tackle
- 3:35Speaker 3: position has been in flux. They've had to try to
- 3:37Speaker 3: rotate a bunch of guys in to try to figure
- 3:39Speaker 3: out who the best.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Five pass protectors are.
- 3:43Speaker 3: I mean, because they made some concessions earlier on with
- 3:46Speaker 3: you know, some of the running concepts they wanted to
- 3:49Speaker 3: do to do they kind of had those guys that
- 3:51Speaker 3: are better run blockers out there than pass protectors, which
- 3:53Speaker 3: I never really understood, like, yeah, the most important thing
- 3:56Speaker 3: is protecting your two hundred and sixty plus million dollar quarterback.
- 3:59Speaker 3: So the best five pass protectors need to be in
- 4:02Speaker 3: the game. And I think they finally figured out who
- 4:05Speaker 3: that is. With Jamari Saul, you're playing left tackle. Something
- 4:08Speaker 3: he did is rookie season when Rashaun Slater, the Chargers
- 4:11Speaker 3: superstar left tackle, went out with an injury and played admirably,
- 4:14Speaker 3: you know, helped the Chargers get to the playoffs that year.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Without his contributions, that would not have happened. And so
- 4:20Speaker 3: they have him on the left side. They're gonna have
- 4:21Speaker 3: Trey Pipkins or Bobby Hart on the right side. So
- 4:24Speaker 3: I think they've been able to finally stabilize who they're
- 4:27Speaker 3: going to have out there, as long as they're able
- 4:29Speaker 3: to stay in the lineup. Makai Beckon, the guy who
- 4:31Speaker 3: they actually paid to come in the only improvement that
- 4:34Speaker 3: they made. Obviously you're very very familiar with him, being
- 4:37Speaker 3: the former Eagle. He's been in and out of the
- 4:39Speaker 3: lineup all year. He's only completed, completed from start to
- 4:44Speaker 3: finish a couple of games this year. So it's just
- 4:47Speaker 3: the offensive line and then their inability to protect Justin
- 4:49Speaker 3: Herbert when Justin Herbert has just at half second more,
- 4:54Speaker 3: he has shown that he can make any throw and
- 4:56Speaker 3: dice up any defense in the NFL.
- 4:59Speaker 1: It really is amazing where Mackai Becton is right now,
- 5:02Speaker 1: especially after last season.
- 5:03Speaker 2: And I don't know what it is.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I don't know if if Jeff Stoutlin has leading up
- 5:10Speaker 1: until this point some sort of secret sauce that he's
- 5:12Speaker 1: been able to give offensive linemen. And I hesitate to
- 5:17Speaker 1: say that given the struggles the Eagles offensive line have
- 5:21Speaker 1: been going through, and we're certainly gonna we're certainly gonna
- 5:23Speaker 1: get to some of these matchups. But moving along here, Dave,
- 5:26Speaker 1: I want to get into the quarterback position for this
- 5:30Speaker 1: Chargers team because we're getting to that point in the
- 5:32Speaker 1: season where injuries are starting to really mean something for
- 5:36Speaker 1: various teams, and especially teams that are looking to be contenders,
- 5:39Speaker 1: And now with Justin Herbert getting surgery on his left hand,
- 5:42Speaker 1: I'm really wondering how this is going to affect the
- 5:46Speaker 1: Chargers as a whole moving forward. And what I mean
- 5:49Speaker 1: by that is these type of things can actually have
- 5:52Speaker 1: a psychological impact on a team from an overall perspective,
- 5:57Speaker 1: And as of us recording this here on Wednesday, December third,
- 6:02Speaker 1: we're still not one hundred percent sure if Justin Herbert
- 6:04Speaker 1: is going to be under center or if it or
- 6:08Speaker 1: if it will be Trey Lance. But how do you
- 6:10Speaker 1: think from a psychological perspective this may impact the team
- 6:14Speaker 1: given his injury and whether or not he is under center.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Well, I'll tell you this, He's not going to be
- 6:21Speaker 3: under center. He's going to be in the pistol or
- 6:23Speaker 3: the shotgun, but certainly will be on the football field.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Justin Herbert has proven throughout his career that he is
- 6:31Speaker 3: certainly as tough as nails. This is a guy who
- 6:33Speaker 3: has played through fractured rib cartilage. He has played through
- 6:37Speaker 3: two bad ankles, one on each in the same season.
- 6:40Speaker 3: He has also played through broken fingers on that non
- 6:43Speaker 3: throwing hand, and the only one that took him out
- 6:46Speaker 3: for considered amount of considerable amount of time was the
- 6:49Speaker 3: broken fingers on his actual throwing hand. So justin Herbert's
- 6:53Speaker 3: toughness is absolutely unquestioned. The fact that he has played
- 6:58Speaker 3: with a similar type of injury broken fingers on that
- 7:01Speaker 3: non throwing hand, gives him confidence that he knows what
- 7:05Speaker 3: he needs to do to protect himself and knows that
- 7:08Speaker 3: he's capable of doing it because he's done it before.
- 7:11Speaker 3: So the surgery on Monday was all about stabilizing that
- 7:14Speaker 3: that injury to make sure that they can get it
- 7:17Speaker 3: casted protected and you know, as long as it's stabilized,
- 7:21Speaker 3: they have ways that they can protect it. And Okay,
- 7:24Speaker 3: I think you'll probably see Trey Lance under center in
- 7:27Speaker 3: some of those, you know, short yardage situations. I think
- 7:31Speaker 3: he'll probably factor in a little bit. But rest assured,
- 7:35Speaker 3: I'm confident as we're recording this, barring any significant setbacks,
- 7:39Speaker 3: I expect Justin Herbert to play on Monday night.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Okay, and just to follow up from a hypothetical standpoint again,
- 7:46Speaker 1: just because you know, we don't have one hundred percent
- 7:50Speaker 1: definitive knowledge right now now if he is going to
- 7:53Speaker 1: be taken those snaps, if the Chargers do have to
- 7:58Speaker 1: go with Trey Lance, I mean, what what do the
- 8:00Speaker 1: Chargers offense? What does it look like with Trey Lance
- 8:04Speaker 1: rather than Justin Herbert.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Well, yeah, it looks a lot less menacing, but it's
- 8:12Speaker 3: really going to be focusing on the rushing attack, right,
- 8:15Speaker 3: I mean, I honestly I think we saw it, right.
- 8:17Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sure you know you watched the game
- 8:20Speaker 3: last week that the Eagles played against the Bears, just
- 8:22Speaker 3: like I did ye and the Chicago Bears ran it
- 8:25Speaker 3: almost fifty times on the Philadelphia Eagles ran it right
- 8:30Speaker 3: down their throats and straight up dominated them from beginning
- 8:33Speaker 3: to end. Yep, that's just what happened. I hate to
- 8:36Speaker 3: be so blunt, but what happened. Absolutely, that's what happened.
- 8:39Speaker 3: And the Chargers did that same thing to the Raiders, Like, yeah,
- 8:42Speaker 3: the Chargers only threw the ball twenty times, it's because
- 8:44Speaker 3: they ran it forty three times for almost two.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Hundred yards, right, So that's absolutely.
- 8:49Speaker 3: What they're going to want to do against the Philadelphia
- 8:52Speaker 3: Eagles and also incorporate the QB runs. Like Trey lance Is,
- 8:56Speaker 3: I think he's improved as a passer. He's been he'd
- 8:59Speaker 3: made better decisions in training camp and in preseason when
- 9:03Speaker 3: he was given those opportunities, but the rest assured he's
- 9:07Speaker 3: at his most dangerous when he's running with the football,
- 9:10Speaker 3: so he absolutely I think the Chargers will go to
- 9:13Speaker 3: of a more of a QB run focused while they're
- 9:16Speaker 3: still trying to you know, set up the easy throwers
- 9:18Speaker 3: and the play action to the weapons, because the Chargers
- 9:21Speaker 3: have great weapons, you know on the outside with Lad
- 9:24Speaker 3: McConkey and Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston and you know
- 9:28Speaker 3: Aronde Gatston the tight end. They have guys that can
- 9:30Speaker 3: do different things to hurt you. So they're still going
- 9:33Speaker 3: to try to get those guys the ball, but it's
- 9:35Speaker 3: definitely going to be, hey, what does the quarterback I
- 9:38Speaker 3: have available do the best and that's be dangerous with
- 9:41Speaker 3: his feet. So that's definitely going to be more of
- 9:44Speaker 3: the approach to try it to you know, win the
- 9:47Speaker 3: football game. If your superstar quarterback isn't behind center.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Yeah, well we got to get into some matchups here too,
- 9:53Speaker 1: because you know, regardless of the quarterback situation for the Chargers,
- 9:57Speaker 1: you know, we know the quarterback situation for the philadel
- 10:00Speaker 1: the Eagles, and who is going to be in the
- 10:02Speaker 1: pistol under center and that and that is Jalen Hurts
- 10:05Speaker 1: and he has been running this Eagles offense that has
- 10:08Speaker 1: been struggling offensively over the past several weeks. Tons of
- 10:12Speaker 1: individuals in the fan base, I mean, they've been calling
- 10:14Speaker 1: for coaches to be fired as a result. It's it's
- 10:18Speaker 1: it's very much your record again, Yeah exactly.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I know. It's crazy.
- 10:23Speaker 1: This fan base is nuts. When you know, my co
- 10:26Speaker 1: host and I are going to talk about it on
- 10:28Speaker 1: the regular show this week. When when when they're egging,
- 10:31Speaker 1: fans are egging the house of the offensive coordinator, which
- 10:34Speaker 1: is just ridiculous. It really is insane. The Eagles offense
- 10:38Speaker 1: is struggling at the end of the day. So I'm wondering, Dave,
- 10:42Speaker 1: how how do you expect the Chargers to really attack
- 10:46Speaker 1: the weakness of this Eagles team, which really is the
- 10:49Speaker 1: offensive line this year. So in terms of like this
- 10:51Speaker 1: first matchup we're talking about, how do you see that manifesting?
- 10:55Speaker 3: I mean, to me, when I watched the Philadelphia Eagles,
- 10:58Speaker 3: the most important difference is the fact that Saquon Barkley
- 11:02Speaker 3: has not been nearly as effective running with the football.
- 11:05Speaker 3: And that's a huge part of what the Philadelphia Eagles
- 11:08Speaker 3: want to do and how they kind of protect Jalen
- 11:10Speaker 3: Hurts from having to throw at thirty five forty times right, right,
- 11:13Speaker 3: that's not what you want him to do. I mean,
- 11:15Speaker 3: he's improved as a passer. I will say that he's
- 11:19Speaker 3: been very accurate. But when they don't have that threat
- 11:23Speaker 3: of Saquon like running for one hundred and fifty on you,
- 11:26Speaker 3: then you know, you can kind of go back and
- 11:28Speaker 3: play coverage, right and try to keep everything in front
- 11:31Speaker 3: of you and kind of dare Jalen Hurts to make
- 11:33Speaker 3: some of those throws that they don't really want him
- 11:36Speaker 3: to make. So it's stop out the running game, completely
- 11:40Speaker 3: shut down Saquon as much as you possibly can. And
- 11:43Speaker 3: if you can do that, and you want to put
- 11:45Speaker 3: the ball and keep the ball and Jalen Hurts hands
- 11:48Speaker 3: more often and allow that pass rush to get, you know,
- 11:53Speaker 3: and take over and I think one of the things
- 11:55Speaker 3: the Chargers have really struggled with this year has been
- 11:58Speaker 3: a running quarterback, and is is that Jalen Hurt hasn't
- 12:02Speaker 3: been running nearly as much, not at all. It's been
- 12:04Speaker 3: kind of strange to me because, like Trey Lance, that's
- 12:08Speaker 3: one of the things that makes him very dangerous and
- 12:10Speaker 3: dynamic is when a defense has to completely account for
- 12:15Speaker 3: every single person on the field, including the quarterback with
- 12:18Speaker 3: the football. So that's one thing is making sure you
- 12:22Speaker 3: have that contain and stopping him. But I think it
- 12:25Speaker 3: all starts with stopping Saquon and neutralizing that rushing attack.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be interesting to watch for sure. Again, folks,
- 12:32Speaker 1: we're talking to David Drogemeier from the Locked On Chargers

- 13:58Speaker 1: are going to take a break and we get back
- 14:00Speaker 1: more of this Chargers and Eagles matchup that's going to
- 14:03Speaker 1: be coming your way on Monday Night Football. Stick with us,
- 14:07Speaker 1: all right, We are back with our good buddy David
- 14:09Speaker 1: Drogmeyer from the Locked On Chargers podcast and to dive
- 14:13Speaker 1: into more of some of the matchups we're going to
- 14:15Speaker 1: be seeing on Monday Night Football this week. The Eagles
- 14:18Speaker 1: defensive front has been really doing a good job of
- 14:21Speaker 1: putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks. At times, They're not getting
- 14:25Speaker 1: home as much as US fans would like, but that
- 14:29Speaker 1: pressure is there and it certainly is making a difference
- 14:32Speaker 1: game after games. So I'm wondering, Dave, how do you
- 14:35Speaker 1: see the Chargers offensive line really stacking up against the
- 14:39Speaker 1: Eagles defensive front this week? I know we talked about
- 14:41Speaker 1: the weakness on this Chargers team being the interior that
- 14:44Speaker 1: offensive line, but you know how, maybe in a little
- 14:47Speaker 1: more detail, how do you really see that Chargers offensive
- 14:50Speaker 1: line stacking up against this Eagles defensive front.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Yeah, if it was Austin Deklis out there at left tackle,
- 14:56Speaker 3: or if it was Trevor Penning who they traded for,
- 14:58Speaker 3: out there at left talk, I would not feel very comfortable.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Ye and I don't feel great, Don't get me wrong.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Even with j Marius while you're out there, who is
- 15:06Speaker 3: head and shoulders a much better pass protector than both
- 15:08Speaker 3: of those gentlemen. It gives you a little bit of hope,
- 15:12Speaker 3: but you have to know who you're going up against.
- 15:14Speaker 3: I mean, the Jamon Carter, the Nolan Smith, the Jordan
- 15:18Speaker 3: Davis like uh, the Brandon Graham like just a.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Just murderous show.
- 15:22Speaker 3: And Jalen Phillips who they traded for, like just some
- 15:26Speaker 3: fantastic players that you have to know where they're at.
- 15:29Speaker 3: And the Chargers need to continue the max protection when
- 15:31Speaker 3: they're trying to set up shots, like you got to
- 15:33Speaker 3: keep that tight end in there. Uh, you know Tucker Fisk,
- 15:36Speaker 3: who's their primary blocking tight end they've had out out
- 15:38Speaker 3: there right now. You got to make sure that you're
- 15:40Speaker 3: you're running backs who you know, Lamaran Hampton seems like
- 15:44Speaker 3: he's going to be back on Monday. And Camanie Videll,
- 15:46Speaker 3: who has been great for the Chargers, I mean, just
- 15:49Speaker 3: to get the type of production they've got out of him,
- 15:52Speaker 3: and also as a past protector protector, you know, he's
- 15:54Speaker 3: been fantastic in that front. It's all hands on deck, right,
- 15:58Speaker 3: it's all hands on deck because the guys are fantastic.
- 16:01Speaker 3: What that means is is you have to make sure
- 16:03Speaker 3: that you stay out of those third and eight, third
- 16:04Speaker 3: and seven plus situations so that you can try to
- 16:09Speaker 3: keep your quarterback in the game, because this is the
- 16:12Speaker 3: type of pass rush that wants nothing more than to
- 16:15Speaker 3: rip your quarterback to shreds. Absolutely very dangerous, and they
- 16:19Speaker 3: do it in different ways. Like you have the speed,
- 16:22Speaker 3: you have the power combinations, so they can kind of
- 16:24Speaker 3: play with that. The Chargers have always struggled interior wise
- 16:28Speaker 3: with the stunts and twists, so they have to make
- 16:30Speaker 3: sure that they're on point with that communication. But it's
- 16:34Speaker 3: the quick passing game. It's getting the ball out of
- 16:35Speaker 3: Justin Herbert's hands quickly, getting it to guys like Quentin Johnston,
- 16:39Speaker 3: who's really good with the yards have to catch, getting
- 16:42Speaker 3: it to you know, the safety valve and aronde gats
- 16:45Speaker 3: and the tight end. It's making sure that you protect
- 16:47Speaker 3: your quarterback with some movement, getting him out of the
- 16:50Speaker 3: pocket and getting the ball out of his hands quickly, yep.
- 16:52Speaker 3: And making sure that you keep that pass rush at
- 16:54Speaker 3: bay yep.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Absolutely all right, Well, every week when we watch and
- 16:59Speaker 1: various NFL games, just that it doesn't just have to
- 17:01Speaker 1: be with the Chargers or the Eagles. There always seems
- 17:04Speaker 1: to be some sneaky players that have themselves a really
- 17:08Speaker 1: nice game or that they play a pivotal role. And
- 17:12Speaker 1: while we certainly don't have a crystal ball here, Dave,
- 17:14Speaker 1: I'm wondering which Chargers players really should we be keeping
- 17:17Speaker 1: our eyes on this week? Who could you know be
- 17:20Speaker 1: those sneaky players against this Eagles team this week? What
- 17:22Speaker 1: are your thoughts here?
- 17:23Speaker 3: Yeah, So, one guy on offense that is somebody I
- 17:27Speaker 3: haven't mentioned, who has been doing a lot of the
- 17:30Speaker 3: dirty work so far this year for the Chargers is
- 17:32Speaker 3: wide receiver Trey Harris, their second round pick. Yea, he
- 17:35Speaker 3: has been in on every single big long run the
- 17:39Speaker 3: Chargers have had. You can see him making a crucial block.
- 17:42Speaker 3: You can see him taking out two defenders and opening
- 17:45Speaker 3: up holes for the running backs for them to gallop
- 17:48Speaker 3: through and head down the sideline. He's been there whenever
- 17:51Speaker 3: they've needed him on the third downs. He's been able
- 17:53Speaker 3: to make a big catch and to be able to
- 17:55Speaker 3: move the chains. He doesn't have the biggest stat line
- 17:58Speaker 3: because there's a lot of mouths to feed on Chargers offense,
- 18:01Speaker 3: but he's a guy that has the potential to break
- 18:04Speaker 3: out if given the opportunity. But he might be a
- 18:07Speaker 3: guy that quietly makes his mark on this football game
- 18:10Speaker 3: on offense, and I'll give you one.
- 18:11Speaker 2: More on defense. Yeah.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Yeah, the veteran, the guy we like to call uncle
- 18:17Speaker 3: or unk, that's Tony Jefferson. Tony Jefferson just always seems
- 18:22Speaker 3: to be at the right place at the right time.
- 18:24Speaker 3: He is a very smart football player. He is always
- 18:28Speaker 3: around the football. He has three interceptions this year in
- 18:31Speaker 3: limited duty. Whenever he's on the field, he's making plays.
- 18:34Speaker 3: He plays with that physicality and violence that you love.
- 18:37Speaker 3: And for a guy that completely retired from football, became
- 18:40Speaker 3: a scout and then unretired and came back to be
- 18:43Speaker 3: able to play at the level that he's been able
- 18:45Speaker 3: to play at, is quite simply remarkable. And another guy
- 18:49Speaker 3: that factors to make an impact on the game because
- 18:53Speaker 3: if he's on the field, he always finds a way
- 18:55Speaker 3: to do that.
- 18:55Speaker 1: That's going to be interesting to see who these sneaky
- 18:57Speaker 1: players are for sure. So Dave we end our pregame
- 19:00Speaker 1: preview shows here on our Opposition Territory podcasts every week
- 19:04Speaker 1: with these two questions. This week no different. It's one
- 19:08Speaker 1: thing that each team is gonna need to hit on
- 19:11Speaker 1: for a win this week against the other team. So
- 19:13Speaker 1: let's start with your Los Angeles Chargers. What's the one
- 19:16Speaker 1: thing the Chargers are gonna need to hit on for
- 19:19Speaker 1: a win this week against the Philadelphia Eagles. What are
- 19:21Speaker 1: your thoughts?
- 19:22Speaker 3: Yeah, So, one thing they absolutely have to do to
- 19:25Speaker 3: win this football game is they need to start fast.
- 19:28Speaker 3: They got to score early. When the Chargers score and
- 19:32Speaker 3: either way touchdown or field goal on the first drive
- 19:35Speaker 3: that they have of a football game, they have won
- 19:38Speaker 3: six of eight games oka in that situation, so it
- 19:42Speaker 3: is very important for them to get off the blocks
- 19:44Speaker 3: hot and get out there and start fast. If they
- 19:47Speaker 3: do that, they're gonna put themselves in a great position
- 19:49Speaker 3: to win the game.
- 19:49Speaker 2: All right.
- 19:50Speaker 1: On the flip side of that, what's the one thing
- 19:53Speaker 1: that the Philadelphia Eagles are gonna need to hit on
- 19:55Speaker 1: in your opinion for a win this week against the Chargers.
- 19:58Speaker 2: They're gonna have to find that running game.
- 20:00Speaker 3: The Chargers are susceptible when they're not playing with the
- 20:04Speaker 3: right physicality and violence to get ran over. I mean,
- 20:07Speaker 3: as you know, I talked about it earlier that these
- 20:09Speaker 3: two defenses are very similar in the philosophy in which
- 20:11Speaker 3: they want to play. They kind of allow the running game,
- 20:14Speaker 3: or they can sde the running game a little bit
- 20:16Speaker 3: to limit the explosive plays in the passing game. So
- 20:20Speaker 3: if the Eagles can find that running game, which I know,
- 20:23Speaker 3: you know, they're having some issues on the offensive line
- 20:25Speaker 3: with Lane Johnson being out obviously being one of the
- 20:28Speaker 3: best tackles in football and really in the history of football,
- 20:32Speaker 3: to be honest, he's truly fantastic.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Yep.
- 20:34Speaker 3: With him not in the lineup, you know, that's a
- 20:37Speaker 3: noticeable difference. But they have to run the football at
- 20:40Speaker 3: a very high level if they want to win this
- 20:42Speaker 3: football game on Monday night.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Totally agree, Totally agree, folks. Check out the Locked on
