- 0:18Hello, and welcome to gate Leapers, the pop culture game show that shines
- 0:22a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your games master and boyfriend turned monster
- 0:27Matt Watson. But of course we couldn't play these games without our team captains,
- 0:32and this week we're playing with a special guest team captain as Jason is
- 0:36currently in Sunnydale, California. Sorry sunny California. First, she's buff,
- 0:43she vamps, and she slays. It's Ordre Stevenson. Hell, yes,
- 0:47hell, yes, it is me. It is you. I do those
- 0:52things to certain degrees. Yes, and that's good enough for a joke.
- 0:55Yes, and he's an author, a podcaster, and a fellow games master.
- 0:59Ready to scooby Doo. It's it's panceless. Aaron of bfy t W
- 1:03Hello, Hi there, and welcome. Hello Aaron, super stupid excited for
- 1:07this, cannot wait to get to the games. But I know we're gonna
- 1:11do some introductions first, so we will. We're gonna we're gonna have to
- 1:15chat postion. I suppose if you like someone like Aaron and you want to
- 1:17get straight to the games, you can skip forward like twenty minutes. That's
- 1:19fine. I don't mind. I do. Okay, So captain's I mean,
- 1:26let's let's start with Aaron. You are you are a captain this one?
- 1:29Oh. I am beyond excited to have on my team the co host
- 1:34of the Ultra Hope Girls podcast and the Inslock podcast and a voice actress who
- 1:41just announced that she has a starring role in the Marvel Move app. It's
- 1:46Caroline Utahela. Yeah, hello, Caroline, welcome to the podcast. Thank
- 1:52you for having me. I am absolutely stoked to be here. Aaron said,
- 1:55Buffy and I said, say less please here. Perfect, perfect,
- 2:01And that's I mean, that's quite the introduction. You are one of the
- 2:05most impressive people we've had on this podcast. Thank you. And I'm his
- 2:09and I'm his wife and I am not didn't quite make it, I guess
- 2:15for madam. Yeah, well no, I'll just be the butt of that
- 2:22joke. I won't add anything to that. Thank you feminism, So I
- 2:27guess. Aaron and Caroline, let's talk Buffy. How familiar are you both
- 2:30with the fandom. Let's start with Aaron. Well, I used to watch
- 2:35it fairly religiously when it was on. I think I started catching it like
- 2:39somewhere in the third season, and then when I worked night shift over like
- 2:44ten years, I would watch it pretty much off on DVD. I had
- 2:47the full box sets and I watched it end to end over and over again,
- 2:53followed by Angel uh and uh yeah, so I've watched every episode at
- 2:58least three or four times. Nice. That's I mean, that's pretty knowledgeable.
- 3:02It sounds like you know your buff stuff. Hopefully we're going to find
- 3:07out. But I consider myself a cino, which is a captain in name
- 3:12only. I'm going to be more of the watcher to Caroline Slayer on this
- 3:15one because I think I think she might have me beat. I see,
- 3:19I see, yeah, Caroline. What's your relationship with Buffy as a fandom?
- 3:23With the fandom in particular, it really I absorbed it in a vacuum
- 3:29for a long time because my parents were quite strict about what I did on
- 3:31the internet. But my friend, who I had a crush on at the
- 3:36time, as is often with Buffy, everything is gay. Yes, she
- 3:43was like, Hey, there's a show called Buffy and there's like a lesbian
- 3:46witch in it who has red hair, and I, as you can see
- 3:50em, a redhead, and so I was like, oh, Oh yeah,
- 3:53I'm in. I'm so in, and so I started watching it and
- 3:55then I guess, fandom wise, I was in the Tumbler years, I
- 3:59guess, so I watched it on Netflix and then was part of the fandom
- 4:03on Tumblr when I was in high school. Yeah, so this is good.
- 4:09It feels like it's a team. You've got knowledge that like spans the
- 4:12full stretch of stretch of the fandom, like watching from season three in the
- 4:15original run all the way through to sneakily making Tumbler comments that you're perhaps hyper
- 4:20religious parents. Oh fantastic. Yes, that's great stuff, Uldra. Why
- 4:28don't you introduce who your teammate will be? Well, Matt, Yes,
- 4:32I have two teammates. Watch. I have no idea. I cannot bring
- 4:35myself to break up the dream Team. It's podcasters Stevie and Aggie of because
- 4:41fuck you that's why. Yeah, hello dream Team. Hello Stevie. Hello,
- 4:46this is so cool, Like we're on a different panel show. Yeah,
- 4:50yes, and you are still the dream Team. Oh yeah right,
- 4:56Like how does that work transcends? Disapologie? Sorry, I apologize to you
- 5:05guys. It is honestly, it's really sad that I missed out on this.
- 5:12My parents did not let me watch anything like watch anything, read anything,
- 5:16consume any media that wasn't of the Lord, and so Buffy was not
- 5:19part of this. I've seen three episodes. There were people who said to
- 5:24skip the first season, and I was like, I don't think so.
- 5:28The first few episodes this is some of the best TV I've ever watched.
- 5:31Also, once more with feeling as a as a musical fan, so I'm
- 5:38absolutely hooked. I will be bringing um a new fans passion and also a
- 5:46new fans lack of knowledge. How about you, guys, well compared to
- 5:56our our opponents. Uh, my knowledge of this show is I've never heard
- 6:01of it in my life. No, I've watched a few seasons of it
- 6:11throughout the ages of its existence, um, and watched quite a bit of
- 6:15it recently. But yeah, maybe maybe I can guess work the other stuff.
- 6:20I think I think I could yet very well enough that I can kind
- 6:23of guess. And this this, this show tends to be a lot of
- 6:28bullocks in terms of the questions, more about the surrounding fandom all that kind
- 6:31of thing. So hopefully guesses we'll get the job done. Stevie, what
- 6:35about yourself. What's your connection to Buffy. I I enjoyed Buffy when it
- 6:41came out. I like Aaron did watch while it was out. I didn't.
- 6:45I wasn't as religious about it as he was until later on when we
- 6:48would hang out a lot, and I got into it and got the series
- 6:51and stuff. I had all the discs as well, like all the DVDs
- 6:55of every season, and I love the show. I've I've seen the series
- 7:00through at least three times, so oh, I actually have seen a lot
- 7:04of it. Um. The thing is, I am medicated a ton now,
- 7:10so my memories like Swiss cheese up there. So I mean it's not
- 7:14much so I think we have a chance, though. I believe once once
- 7:19I start hearing the questions or hearing like everybody else talking, it's gonna retrigger
- 7:24everything and our team's gone. I have a feeling we're gonna yes, underdogs.
- 7:29You know, sometimes too much knowledge just gets in the way, right,
- 7:31Yeah, yeah, sometimes yeah. I love this confidence from the team
- 7:35that probably will live right. I did have one question though, too,
- 7:41like yeah, Jason, I don't like Okay, we've done a few things
- 7:44as collaborations. I don't believe this guy exists, of course, because when
- 7:49we came up by t W, Jason was not present. Yes, correct,
- 7:55He's just like a mythical creature, imaginary. Yeah, like a unit.
- 7:59Yeah, he's podcast unicorn. Yeah, he'd love that to be fair,
- 8:03to be referred to as that the setup was actually a joke about Sunnydale.
- 8:09But it is true. He's currently in California. I can't, I
- 8:11can't like give you more evidence than that. You've just got to take me
- 8:15at my words. I'm so sorry. One or two other episodes cev I
- 8:20did, but he could it could be maybe it's there are maybe there are
- 8:24impressionists. You're an AI voice, could be that is possible. Now it
- 8:31all makes sense. It does robots. Yeah, it's huge. Now man,
- 8:37I'm just contact Jason on Twitter and be like, are you an AI?
- 8:41Yeah? Out of context, thank you for inviting us. By the
- 8:43way, now, Jason Israel. We love him, we miss him,
- 8:50but let's just have about ninety minutes of fun without him. Yeah. Yeah,
- 8:54And look, the teams are unbalanced, but if you think about it,
- 8:58they're actually quite balanced. I'll let whoever wants to be offended by that
- 9:01be offended by that. Listen we might have a knowledge advantage, but they
- 9:13have a numbers advantage. It's true that, it's true more brains. I
- 9:16have no objection to this. Yeah, I'm going to try not to just
- 9:20sit back and let Caroline do all the heavy lifting. No, it won't
- 9:24be that. I don't think. I'm not great with memorizing everything either,
- 9:28So maybe you'll remember things I don't remember. We'll see. Yeah, well
- 9:31we will find out who is facing who because teams, you've arrived at Sunnydale
- 9:35High School, and I'm sure it's going to be a vampire free for you
- 9:39and yours psych much. That's what they say, don't they. I don't
- 9:43know. So I'd like each pan to come up with a Buffy themed team
- 9:48name. Please, let's start with Aaron and Caroline. Okay, So we
- 9:52tossed a couple of ideas back and forth. I liked the idea because Caroline
- 9:58and I are both they musical theater people. I thought just calling ourselves once
- 10:03more with feeling would be appropriate. But then Caroline came up with, in
- 10:09my estimation, the perfect name. Caroline, would you like to say it
- 10:13was the Yellow Crans? You know? So I don't know, and I
- 10:20would love the reference explained because that's always get so. At the end of
- 10:24season six spoilers sorry, Willow turns evil due to circumstances which I will not
- 10:31spoil, and she is going to end the world. She is about to
- 10:35do so when her best friend from childhood, Xander, shows up and says,
- 10:41I just want to hang with you. If this is what you're gonna
- 10:43do, then do it with me, please, because if the world's going
- 10:46to end, I want to I want it to end with you. And
- 10:48then he's like, do you remember in kindergarten you were so upset because you
- 10:52broke the yellow crayon? You've come a long way. Not a great idea,
- 10:56but I just love the idea of friendship connecting over a tiny story of
- 11:03a mishap, which we had several when we visited Caroline, and so many
- 11:11we had so many, So if I ever need to reconnect with Caroline for
- 11:16any reason, I'll just be like, do you remember that time I couldn't
- 11:20figure out a door? Ya? You remember the time we played a killing
- 11:24game with no killer? There are so many things that went hilariously wrong on
- 11:31that trip, but there are touchstones that remind us of our friendship which which
- 11:37is everything to me. So yellow crayons, it is that. That's beautiful.
- 11:41That is absolutely beautiful. And I now understand the reference and it's even
- 11:43more beautiful. So we have the Yellow Crayons, will be one team.
- 11:46But who will they be facing? Ultra ulky Stevie. I had an idea
- 11:54if you didn't, I mean, I have a couple. I don't know
- 11:56how strong they are, A new fan in all. Okay, okay,
- 12:01what's yourn um? Obviously Scooby gang, that's obvious. This is this is
- 12:07like, this is entry level shit. It's good. But I also thought,
- 12:13because there is three of us, I know that they're villains. But
- 12:18the trio, oh my gosh, that so Good's true story. When I
- 12:24thought it was gonna be the three of us, three nerdy, geeky white
- 12:30dudes, I was going to call our team the Trio minus the misogyny.
- 12:35Yeah. Do you want to go with the Trio plus the misogyny? Yeah?
- 12:41I'm a I'm an absolute notorious in cell. Everyone's laughing for very good
- 12:50reason, because it's true. That's what makes the joke funny. The truth
- 13:00For the addendums, I would defer or but I also want to hear y'all's
- 13:03name suggestion. So mine was going to be hell Fire Hellians. That is
- 13:09goody route, I like that about Hellmouth Hellian's Hellmouth. He sorry not to
- 13:16be helping, but oh no, help us with the answer partly. Yeah,
- 13:20Well, first, mine don's not here. Man. That's a deep
- 13:31cut motherfucker. I think I try to get it. It's a couple of
- 13:37a couple of references smashed together thrown in the wow, come on, thank
- 13:46you? All right, Well, I know three individual parties makes democracy more
- 13:50difficult, but I'm going to need a final answer on the team. I
- 13:54do like Hellmouth Hellians. Me too. It Actually it rolls good and we
- 13:58can preach. We're all dude. You guys got scooters over there. We
- 14:01can make like a scooter gang and we can all be at the Hellmouth Hellians.
- 14:03We can get vests. Yeah, oh my god, is it then?
- 14:09Hell yeah? All right, we got the hell Mouth Hellians. We'll
- 14:15just skip past that. We're probably only playing as a three team for the
- 14:18first time ever in the trio. Would have been perfect, But you know
- 14:22what, the team name isn't everything, you don't. It does set the
- 14:26tone for whether he will give us points in the future. But I am
- 14:31a contrarian. Okay, all right, if you're listening to this and thinking,
- 14:35well, you all seem at least moderately pleasant. But I don't know
- 14:39my slay of brackets Buffy from my Slay of Brackets frash metal band, don't
- 14:43worry his ordro with a little segment we like to call passing knowledge. In
- 14:52every generation, there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the
- 14:56vampires, the demons, and the forces of dark. She is the Slayer,
- 15:01but she just wants to be a normal high school or goddamn it.
- 15:05Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an American supernatural teen drama which ran from nineteen ninety
- 15:11seven to two thousand and three. The series was written and directed by Joss
- 15:16Whedon. But don't hold that against it, all right, I get it.
- 15:20You're evil. Do we have to chat about it all day? The
- 15:22show centers around Buffy Summers, a high school girl and slayer at a new
- 15:26school collectively called the Scooby Gang. Her and her new friends saw supernatural mysteries
- 15:31around Sunnydale. Instead of unmasking old mister Jenkins at the carnival, they are
- 15:37stabbing some vampires and screwing others so hard a house collapses happen. Yes,
- 15:45okay, I know few things about this fandom. That's one of the things.
- 15:52When did the building fall down? Must have been some time between the
- 15:56first time in the year Oh my God. While fandoms having listed far prior
- 16:00to Buffy, it is known as one of the pioneering fandoms of the Internet
- 16:04age. If there was a message board, there were Buffy fans present,
- 16:08basically inventing our modern understanding of fandom discourse, our modern ideas of fan community,
- 16:15shipping meetups, even naming your children after characters can trace their impact back
- 16:19to Buffy. So anyone who named their daughter Callisi early in Game of Thrones
- 16:23and then regretted it by the end, you have Buffy the Vampire Slayer to
- 16:27thank and yourself to blame. I'm not the one being judgmental here. I'll
- 16:33leave that territory to you and Buffy judgmental. Now, let's laugh in the
- 16:37face of danger and then hide until it goes away. It's Buffy the Vampire
- 16:41Slayer. Yes, thank you, Audre. I hope that caught everyone up
- 16:47on Buffy. And if not, look, you've seen a media text about
- 16:49young people battling the supernatural world. It's twenty twenty three, for Glory's sake,
- 16:53that's half of all media. Just before we get to today's games,
- 16:57I've asked each player to bring in a muse, something that inspires them or
- 17:03something they love from this particular fandom. Buffy is inspiring to me personally because
- 17:07seeing Spike's cheekbones for the first time has humbled me greatly. Oh my god,
- 17:12yes, experience, it's quite relatable. I just want to climb them.
- 17:22I just want to sit upon them as we all do. Oh.
- 17:29Now that we're all suitably thirsty, Special guest Team Captain Aaron, we will
- 17:33start with you. What's inspiring you from the world of buffet Um? Okay,
- 17:38well this was extremely difficult for me. There's a lot of things I
- 17:41love about Buffy and the things that's surround it. Um. I mentioned to
- 17:47Caroline that I was thinking about uh Amber Benson, the actress who plays Tara,
- 17:52because she's a magnificent human being and I love her and she she was
- 17:55like one of the first like uh like big Icon on TV who looked like
- 18:00a normal woman. Everybody else is so thin and skinny. Um. But
- 18:07she just looks like a regular person, like and she's beautiful and she's fantastic
- 18:11and I love her to death. Um. But I eventually settled on I
- 18:15think my music is going to be the character of Rupert Giles. Oh nice,
- 18:22Just because I'm such a huge anglophile. Um that I made my own
- 18:27Matt from gate Liber's doll that I sleep with at home. Disgusting what you
- 18:33do to it, but I approve, well, thank you for approval.
- 18:37Um. And also I just I like to think of myself as faithfully supporting
- 18:45all of my female friends no matter what. Um. And also I tend
- 18:51to prefer to watch, then take part and just go ahead and extrapolate whatever
- 18:56you want. No, after the mentioning if the Matt doll into blanks,
- 19:06that's I mean, that's fantastic. It's a fantastic news. It's a fantastic
- 19:08sentiment. I can see why. It's inspiring. Very good stuff. Let's
- 19:12move on over to your teammates, Caroline, what's inspiring you from the world
- 19:15of Buffy. Well, Um, this was a very hard question because there's
- 19:21so much I could say, honestly, and drew every rewatch in every season
- 19:25of my life so far, there's been something different that's been important. But
- 19:29the one thing that has, you know, powered through all of it for
- 19:33me, and is the reason why I started watching it was because there was
- 19:37a queer character who looked like me. She was fem she wasn't um.
- 19:41You know. I feel like a lot of the lesbians and media that I
- 19:45was seeing, besides Glee, which was iconic, U were you know,
- 19:51butch. And that's fine, and that's totally great and awesome that folks express
- 19:55themselves in that way, but that's just not me. Um. And so
- 19:57I was really excited to see will and her relationship with Tara being something that
- 20:02was just so normal and it wasn't just like all her character, you know.
- 20:06It wasn't like, oh, she's just the gay character. And so
- 20:10I actually have it a Buffy tattoo which I can show you all right now.
- 20:12Yes, no, yes, Oh fantastic. This is a candle which
- 20:17is from the episode New Moon Rising and spoiler alert, but during that episode,
- 20:22Willow's ex boyfriend from high school comes back after having cheated on her with
- 20:27another werewolf woman hah and he returns and then discovers that she and Amber Benson's
- 20:34character Tara have been in a relationship, and Tara's character assumes at Willow like
- 20:40a lot of you know, people might assume from folks who have dated men
- 20:45before, which is not really justified, you know, and that they have
- 20:48a fear that they will go back to the men that they previously dated.
- 20:52But at the end of the show, at the end of the episode,
- 20:55Willow comes in with this candle and it's extra flamy, and she she tells
- 21:00teras Tera says, it's okay, you have to be with the person that
- 21:04you love, and she says, I am, and then she gives the
- 21:08normal to the terror and she blows it out and it is like, yeah,
- 21:12my favorite. That is so good, I mean, beautiful Gay Candle
- 21:18might be one of the best musics. Thank you. Yeah, fantastic,
- 21:26very inspiring. We we skipped and watched once more with feeling to get the
- 21:30musical stuff. We watched some from season one and so when there was like
- 21:33a healthy, normal portrayal of a gay couple, I was like, well,
- 21:38yeah, did this come out again? Because Hollywood still struggling with this
- 21:41in some areas, right, But the thing is is it's not always healthy,
- 21:45which is good also because it's like you're seeing a couple, a real
- 21:49couple, go through the ups and down said it takes you love, so
- 21:52yeah, anyway, yeah, like the conflict of them in this in the
- 21:57episode is like lying, yeah, right, and because as someone who doesn't
- 22:02know that in between parts, but that's that's not a specifically queer relationship issue,
- 22:07but like that, Nope, that's a that's universal. Right, So
- 22:11it was good to see fantastic news. I can see why you're inspired by
- 22:15that. Let's let's move on over to the hell Mouth Hellians and we will
- 22:18begin with Ultra. What's inspiring you? Honestly, the thing that's inspiring me
- 22:25from Buffy is the fact that all of these shows that I have watched like
- 22:30religiously or been recommended to me because they would be something that I would like,
- 22:36are all inspired by Buffy. So you look at Supernatural, you look
- 22:38at teen Wolf. Those are two in my tumbler days, those are two
- 22:41of my big, my big fandoms. And going back and watching the first
- 22:47couple episodes of Buffy and then once more with Feeling, the thing that's inspiring
- 22:51me is that they were inspired by Buffy. And so there is so many
- 22:55things that I Love do not exist at least not in the same way with
- 23:00out the show that kind of started at all in pop culture. And now
- 23:03there's tons of shows that I haven't, like I haven't watched. There's probably
- 23:06not Vampire Diaries or like even you could argue I was going to say,
- 23:11you could argue Wednesday. But there are a lot of shows that are happening
- 23:15or that became popular that probably wouldn't have happened without the fire that happened from
- 23:22the Buffy. Yeah, popularity definitely seems that way. Can Buffy fans confirm
- 23:27that and say a big yes? Also, any silly thing that Supernatural does,
- 23:33Buffy did it first. Yeah, it's a it's a good inspiration seeing
- 23:41the I mean it's like, yeah, an inspiration of the inspiration. It's
- 23:45like inspiration sception in perception that doesn't really work. I'm going to move on
- 23:48and ask you. Okay, okay, let's let's start with you. What's
- 23:53inspiring you from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Inspiring and you know, provoking thought.
- 24:02Well, I would say it would be that school's library, because my
- 24:07goodness, not only does it look amazing, but that that place hays everything
- 24:12like it's God, you know, all the best works I'm like orwell and
- 24:17all that stuff like that, and like Harry Potter and a book with a
- 24:21demon in it for some reason, bunch of pain domes and all easily assessible
- 24:29if you just went in there and just checked it out. It always like
- 24:33blew my mind that, like people just didn't go into the library. Yeah,
- 24:37it's a pretty expensive school library, is it? Is it a public
- 24:41school in the in the show like it is? Yes, great funding for
- 24:45that library, right, yeah, I like who met it? Those books?
- 24:49Yeah, it's gorgeous. Who betted those books? The Watcher Society,
- 24:55they're the ones that are like donating to the library and y the girl makes
- 25:00sense. Uh yeah, fantastic library and fantastic mus Thank you so much,
- 25:03Aggie. Thank you, Stevie. We'll come to you last, because that's
- 25:07your the last person left. Stevie. What's inspiring to you from Buffy?
- 25:12Um? Just like Buffy had like an amazing tool she kept with her at
- 25:18all times, mister Bok, I myself have a miss Stabby. So this
- 25:25is uh it's fourteen inches long, so it's got a good like the listeners
- 25:30at home, Stevie is holding a knife. Ye would steak this is it's
- 25:36actually it wouldn't steak. Nice now, yeah, yeah, outside the hands
- 25:44for good grip. And I've been I've been practicing outside in case any like
- 25:48vampires come by to protect us there in the podcast. Yeah, nice,
- 25:52I feel very safe even though we're in different locations. That's why you feel
- 25:56safe. Yeah, because I've got to ask of you. Have you taken
- 26:03out any vampires with it already? Is it? Okay? Okay? Historically
- 26:11any any previous nights, have you taken out any any undead any vampires?
- 26:15I mean, we see things, but not yet. Night's gonna be the
- 26:19night though we got the we got the steak to do it now, so
- 26:22now now to night's to night. The vampires. Well, we saw things
- 26:29because we were using the wrong kind of steak. Yeah, I mean we
- 26:32were using the you know, thet I'll do it. Yeah, it just
- 26:37slapped against them. It fell to the ground. Did you know there's a
- 26:41lot of coyotes are on a lot of coyotes on a nowhere. I mean,
- 26:47coyote vampires will be the next issue. They're like werewolves, but not
- 26:55don't shake your head at me. We're not even on your team, you
- 26:59don't hit the embarrassed other team'd be like, oh my god, this guy's
- 27:03an idiot. I'm embarrassed on your behalf. Thank you, last friendship.
- 27:11That's that's great, Stevie. That that to have a physical stake, to
- 27:15be able to take out vampires at a moment's notice. Very slayer. Yes,
- 27:18right, teams, you're ready to slay the master. So let's leap
- 27:22into the hell mouth that is round one. Round one is called merch table.
- 27:32What would fandoms be without merch Likely more academic and less capitalistic. But
- 27:37let's not pull up that cash mere thread right now. In this game,
- 27:40our teams will each be given a list of Buffy Verse merchandise. In order
- 27:45to score points, they must guess if each item is worth more or less
- 27:48than the previous item in the sequence. The twist, we're not talking about
- 27:52rurp baby, We're talking speculative value. As one list is from Etsy and
- 27:59the other Facebook marketplace. Oh god jeez. So to decide which team gets
- 28:04which list, I'm going to ask both teams a question, and whoever has
- 28:08the closest answer gets to pick them merchandise list. That question is according to
- 28:15Nielsen data throughout its seven season run, what was the average number of people
- 28:19tuning in for a Buffy episode? Okay, we'll have the yellow crayons and
- 28:25throw out an answer first, because you know you've got you've got the advantage.
- 28:29I think in knowledge, Karen, you might know this more than I
- 28:33will because I was very late to the era of network TV. Okay,
- 28:38I think their biggest number was probably somewhere in the area of This is so
- 28:47hard because it was it was on cable, it wasn't necessarily on the big
- 28:52network. So I think, if I recall correctly, and I could be
- 28:56wrong, I think one of their biggest, the biggest someone might have pulled
- 29:00in ten or eleven million viewers. Meanwhile, like the later episodes when it
- 29:07moved to up and I think it was closer to a million per episode.
- 29:11So I would be comfortable going somewhere between like three and four for an average
- 29:17over the whole series. Yeah, I'm good. I'm good with that.
- 29:21So you wanted to say three and a half cut it right down the middle,
- 29:23Yeah, that sounds good. Three point five million on the boards.
- 29:30Hell mouth, they're using math? Are they allowed to do that? You
- 29:34are? You are allowed to exploit math as well, if you'd like,
- 29:37okay, okay, um, hold on, I need my phone to do
- 29:41that. This is tough because I was probably going to say something similar.
- 29:48Yeah, just trying to think of like it's straddling the line between like popular
- 29:53but not mega, niche but not mega, and so the only thing that
- 29:57I have to go off of pro wrestling, like two mil above two mil,
- 30:04it's more pop like more popular than pro wrestling. So I was gonna
- 30:08say three or four I think so, I think it is going to be
- 30:14close, but I think it's lower what they're saying, though, I really
- 30:17do. I don't think it's as high as an average. I think it's
- 30:19going to be closer to like one point seven maybe two as an average.
- 30:22I don't think it's gonna be as high as I think it is through the
- 30:25series. But you're captain, I'm just guessing though, too. I really
- 30:29don't know. I'm just like throwing numbers out there, pretending I know math.
- 30:33Let's go with two then two mil, yeah, because then then we're
- 30:37like we're like close for we'll get anything below. Yeah, I don't think
- 30:41it'll I don't know if it'll be below these number ones always wildly surprised me.
- 30:48Right, let's find out if you're going to be wildly surprised. The
- 30:52correct answer. The average number of view is that Buffy had throughout it's seventh
- 30:56season airing was five point zero nine million views. Yeah, that's right.
- 31:00Maybe, so that's going to be yellow crayons. Who gets a pick?
- 31:04Pick that list of merchandise here, no point for that one at all,
- 31:10just the option to scull more points. It's a tool that will help you
- 31:15later. Caroline, When do you feel more comfortable with Etsy or Facebook marketplace?
- 31:21Well, I've done my fair share of purchasing of Buffy items on Etsy
- 31:25as I literally actually, oh my gosh, I literally have a cup from
- 31:29Etsy that says out for a walk fantastic. I think I saw that one
- 31:32when I was So let's go with that. See if you're cool with that,
- 31:36Aaron, Yeah, no, I'm absolutely a thousand percent cool with that.
- 31:41Let's go with that. S all right. We will begin with the
- 31:42Yellow crayons and Etsy. So this is mostly like homemade, self made products
- 31:48to do with the Buffy universe. So your first item, which I will
- 31:52scull points for if you get close to it, and if you get it
- 31:56like spat and I'll give you like two points to start of our sequence,
- 32:00but from after that it's just higher or lower. So your first item,
- 32:04Buffy the Vampire Slayer Tarot deck and guide book. Oh my god, my
- 32:08friend has this. Okay, I'm just trying to remember how much he paid
- 32:13for it. I think it was like forty dollars. Yeah, I would
- 32:16be in the forty to fifty range on this, I think. But if
- 32:20you want to go forty, I'm cool with that. Plus two forty five
- 32:22forty five, split it down the middle. You save forty five, it's
- 32:27thirty six ninety nine, so you're kind of you're kind of pretty close.
- 32:30If you're stuck with forty, I might have given you a point, but
- 32:32you went to forty five in the aim of friendship to try and find the
- 32:36medium between your answers. I knew I should have just listened to Caroline,
- 32:38just been okay, and I'm being especially cruel. But now you have the
- 32:44chance to earn points just by saying higher or lower. So your next item
- 32:47higher or lower than thirty six ninety nine. Buffy the Vampire Slayer steak prop
- 32:52inspired Wooden Steak. That's the full title stake prop and fire wooden Steak.
- 32:58It's literally just a sick it is, but someone whittled it probably, but
- 33:06it's probably like sanded down. They might offer inscription options. There is a
- 33:13part of me that feels like this might be higher. Okay, I'm gonna
- 33:17trust your gut. I hope it's not just like Stevie. Stevie, have
- 33:24you been posting your stick online again? I just like the picture. You
- 33:31are saying higher than thirty six ninety nine. It is higher than thirty six
- 33:36ninety nine. That is going to be a point. Nicely done, Caroline.
- 33:39It is seventy eight sixty for a whittled stick. O sweet, but
- 33:44it's probably pretty sweet looking. It does look pretty good. Yeah, fat,
- 33:49all right, So seventy eight sixty is your number? Higher? Aloa
- 33:52once more with feeling script signed by Joss Whedon, Sarah Michelle Gella, and
- 33:57Nicholas Brendon Hire. It's got to be higher, even though the Joss Whedon
- 34:01signature is going to bring it down SMG. Hello, I would like Sarah's
- 34:08signature alone is like the hundred dollars range easy, So yeah, I'll go
- 34:13higher. The Hire saying higher for this one, it's actually lower. Wow,
- 34:19this this is twenty one ninety five, you can pick. I'm gonna
- 34:22buy this apparently, Oh my god. Yeah, kind of unbelievable. You
- 34:29see this quite a lot on Etsy, where I feel like people photocopy signatures
- 34:32and then try and pass it off as like real signatures. So therefore I've
- 34:37just acted as a commercial for the item, but then being anti capitalist and
- 34:40said no, don't buy it, it's a scam, got it? Thank
- 34:45you? Both sides I'm playing both sides? Are you saying? Because Matt's
- 34:52jacket makes him blend into the background, so it kind of looks like a
- 34:55floating head, just just a touch. Yeah, it's hello jacket though,
- 35:00Oh thank you. I bought it in order to increase confidence by pretty good
- 35:09by disappearing into the Background's confidence is yeah. Okay, So twenty one ninety
- 35:17five is your number? Is this next item higher or lower than that?
- 35:22Smell like buffy summers orchids, pink amber and musk. So I think this
- 35:30is higher because homemade sense are so expensive, I have nothing to base this
- 35:37on, so I'm just gonna go with my slayer and say, yeah,
- 35:40it's gotta be higher. Definitely good watch you do that, but should you
- 35:45have trusted just layah? No, hello, this is sixteen dollars to smell
- 35:52like Buffy Summers, which is apparently was the Slayer from Buffy and then not
- 35:58the metal band Slayer, because I mean that I could purchase for sixteen Oh
- 36:02yeah, okay, no, sorry, I've just reread it. Yep,
- 36:05it is okay, great, great metal smell. Yeah, that's yeah.
- 36:08The mental singer smells not as expensive? Can't be Come on, that's the
- 36:13musk we're talking essentially here. All right. You look at her and you
- 36:17know she smells amazing. You just do m keep for sixteen dollars. You
- 36:22can you can have that too. You keep saying SMG and I keep singing
- 36:28MSG. Oh no, that's a very different thing. Yeah, medicine square
- 36:37gotten what it doesn't make you go to sleep on Thanksgiving? Okay, okay,
- 36:44sixteen dollars is your number. Next item Buffy the Vampire Slay a TV
- 36:49series, individual prayer, Candle Willow Rosenbug I mean cold on. It can't
- 36:54be lower again, can it? I mean? Okay, let's think supplies
- 36:59wise. You gotta buy the case for it and then put the candle in
- 37:02it homemade candles? Does it does it have an image of Willow Rosenberg on
- 37:08it? Or is it just just does the listing just it's like a prayer
- 37:15candle. Caroline's got it. Yeah, like you know those like Catholic candles
- 37:19that have like saints on them. It's that, but it's willow and they're
- 37:23pretty I mean yeah, no kidding, um, they're pretty big too.
- 37:29They're like this big. So what are your thoughts? It's got to be
- 37:31higher, That's what I'm thinking too, because the last two have been lower.
- 37:36I mean, if we if we're gaming the game here, what what
- 37:38what a good host would do is think they're gonna think there's no way this
- 37:42is going to be lower, and it's lower, and it's lower. Yeah,
- 37:46but don't do that. But just thinking about the prayer candle. You
- 37:50got to print on it, uh, and you gotta wrap it and all
- 37:53that extra stuff. So right, yeah, cost, you're literally losing money
- 37:59at that point. It's lower than sixteen. Yeah, I'm gonna go with
- 38:01higher. I agree, Yeah, you're going with high. It is higher.
- 38:05This one is higher. Twenty two dollars. That's about what I thought
- 38:08it was going to be actually so, so how do you know that he's
- 38:14still a little higher? Yeah? I would have thought thirty at least a
- 38:19bargain. But then again, I've never made campbells, so what do I
- 38:22know? Yeah? Good time to stop. Stop? Yeah you know what
- 38:27the yea, you know the process. Okay, I have one final item
- 38:32for you on this Etsy list. Is it higher or lower than twenty two
- 38:36dollars? Holy water vial Buffy the Vampire slayher replica brilliant Um literally selling water.
- 38:45Oh yes, However, Aaron, there is a part of me that
- 38:49thinks that perhaps this could be higher, but I do, like my heart,
- 38:52hopes it's lower. You know what I'm saying. Yeah, No,
- 38:55I completely understand um, but like it. If it's a replica that and
- 39:00that means they modeled it after the ones on the show, right, which
- 39:07means that there were some glasswork involved, likely and they probably did etching into
- 39:10the glass. If I remember the vials that they were seen in the show,
- 39:17usually in Giles's shop, the Magic Box, Like they were pretty plain
- 39:22vials, but they did have like a Holy Cross sticker on them, I
- 39:25think, or something like that. They weren't that extravagant. They weren't.
- 39:30No, it's probably going to be like a little higher or a little lower
- 39:32to what we're at now, because we're at twenty two. So my gut
- 39:37says a little lower like eighteen or nineteen. Okay, I'm going with that.
- 39:40I don't really have a strong opinion, honestly, Okay, a little
- 39:45lower, Yeah, all right, let's go. Okay, we're gonna go
- 39:47lower. You're saying lower, it's actually higher. I'm so scared as literally
- 39:54just selling Walter. There was some pretty good looking replicas that looked like they
- 40:00we're from the show for like about twenty bucks. But this listing in particular
- 40:02was just those little glass bottles that I've definitely seen at Target with like a
- 40:07printed out vampire written on it, and they were charging thirty dollars for it.
- 40:13It's it's wild, that's terrible. I feel a little bit vindicated that
- 40:17most people are not charging this, right yea, yeah, Sarah, yeah,
- 40:22yeah, there's just someone they're scamming, the phantom. Yeah, but
- 40:27that is your list. You scored two points on that list out of a
- 40:30potential six. Okay, yeah, it's so yeah. They were probably gonna
- 40:37do pretty similarly with Facebook Marketplace yeah, let's yeah, let's move on over
- 40:44to hell Mouth and yeah, this is this is Facebook marketplace. Mostly used
- 40:49items, could be vintage items as well, but definitely people selling secondhand.
- 40:54So your first item that I'm looking for a number four is Buffy the Pious
- 41:00Laya the complete series one to seven DVDs, open brackets, missing disc three
- 41:05of the second season, closed brackets. Oh damn, season three. Come
- 41:12on, I watched it too much at work. I mean back in the
- 41:15day, they were expensive a piece, like what do you have an easy
- 41:20season? Um, but it has to be there's one missing. I know
- 41:24there's one missing, so it's got to be like eighty bucks. Like,
- 41:30but the resale value on those if you can watch shows on like streaming services
- 41:37a lot of discs, I don't know if they go for that much anymore.
- 41:39I was going to say twenty bucks. I'm down with that. I've
- 41:44never been on this Facebook, mar. I don't think it's I don't think
- 41:46it's up there, because that's just like if it is, it's like thirty
- 41:50six or some ship. But I think twenty of the good safe value.
- 41:52That's fair because they weren't expensive back in the day. And yeah, you
- 41:55just watch it anywhere on your phone now. Yeah, and so I think
- 42:00it would be like people who wanted to collect them on DVD, but then
- 42:04they'd find somewhere else to find another one. So twenty would be my thought.
- 42:07Happy to go with twenty? Yeah, oh yeah, coughing it in
- 42:10this well. I heard I heard eighty and I heard twenty, and it
- 42:14was slap bang in the middle. It was fifty fifty dollars. One time
- 42:19we didn't someone didn't compromise, and it bites us way too well for a
- 42:24missing disk, even for a miss it's like four episodes, yeah, out
- 42:29of h Yeah, not to mention the d The DVDs have all those special
- 42:36features that you can't get on streaming. That's true. Yeah, all the
- 42:42bonus footage. What happened to that? I don't want to sound too old,
- 42:45but where's the bonus features gone? Yeah? Why can't we have that
- 42:46again? Yeah? Damn you streaming? How used to watch all those?
- 42:51Okay, fifty dollars is your number that you will be continuing the sequence from
- 42:55higher all lower from here on out. Next one very simple giles, funko
- 43:00pop giles. That expensive, right, they're like underfit, like secondhand too.
- 43:08Yeah, like Crisp out of the box from the factory. Sure it'd
- 43:13be worth a bit of money, but this is secondhand. Who knows what
- 43:15that condition of the boxes, and it wasn't signed or anything, so it's
- 43:19not like it was at a con, so I would assume under fifty.
- 43:22Personally, what do you think in Audre? I was thinking the same thing.
- 43:25I feel like Funko pops are kind of hit or miss as to whether
- 43:29they're like really valuable in a secondhand market, and I think it's probably more
- 43:34likely that this one was below fifty. Right, we're going with loa it
- 43:38isla salty dollars for a Gile's Funko pop. What that's ridiculous? Yeah,
- 43:49I don't know. I was thinking twenty. Maybe I'm just hung up on
- 43:51that. I just wanted to be right at some point. You remember when
- 43:57things were affordable could get it fu coop up five big ones five grand wow?
- 44:09Um? Okay, your next item on the list higher or lower than
- 44:13forty dollars? Buffy the Vampire Slayer Chaos Bleeds for the PS two PlayStation two.
- 44:21Oh, we should have gone with the Facebook. Yeah, it's gonna
- 44:24be higher because PlayStation two games are freaking expensive. I just have a feeling
- 44:29higher than forty blocks. Do you think so? Do you think it's gonna
- 44:32be lower than it? I mean, as hard as it is getting your
- 44:37hands on the original council, the only way you can plays like through an
- 44:39emulator. Mm. I don't know that they got the other machines that can
- 44:44do it. That's just me personally as a video game person. I think
- 44:46those things are expensive. Sure, it's a collectible, it's probably worth more.
- 44:50Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. But your teammates have a lot of
- 44:53knowledge here. Yeah, I'm gonna go with them. We can say higher
- 44:58higher, Yeah, cool, say Hia, it's a guess. Yes,
- 45:02it's actually lower, it's lower. You can get this one full. The
- 45:07magic number that day is twenty dollars. Damn guy, I told you I'd
- 45:13screw this up at some point. Yes, two games are not that expensive
- 45:16unless they're like niche Japanese RPGs. Oh really, you can get a lot
- 45:21of PS two games for like ten twenty bucks. No kidding. I'm sure
- 45:24Buffy would be among them because that was a big release. It was on
- 45:28all the major systems, so damn man. We even called our shot and
- 45:31just missed. Anyways, okay to me anymore done? Has anyone played this
- 45:37game out with interest? Then you won't play Chaos Bleeds for the PS two.
- 45:42I played the original game on the Xbox, absolutely loved it. Played
- 45:45cast Bleeds and was like, okay, it's a little worse. Okay,
- 45:50it's it's it's all right, it's at best, all right, classic sequel
- 45:53stuff there. Yeah, Okay, your next nightem high or lower than twenty
- 45:58dollars Buffy the Vampire Slay Up board game two thousand, unpunched tokens and game
- 46:02bags. Okay, unpunched tokens. You have this to actually wait, Aaron,
- 46:10is this the legend legendary game. I don't know. I'd have to
- 46:15ask, is that I don't think this is the legendary one. This is
- 46:16the one by Jasco Games probably, or it might be earlier than that.
- 46:21It might be like the actual board game that had like tracks. It was
- 46:24like it was like Candyland almost literally moved your characters along the board. Um,
- 46:30well, it's certainly not my item, so I'm gonna shut up keep
- 46:37telling us about your habit. But yeah, I know, I'm pretty sure
- 46:42it's probably higher because bar games. I've seen the prices of bar games and
- 46:47yeah, so far just whoa walk there. I'm just glad that you said
- 46:52higher, so I don't have to say anything. And if it's if we're
- 46:55wrong again, it's your fault, not mine. Well we're going up twenty
- 47:00I know. I really think it's gonna be worth less than twenty bucks.
- 47:02Yeah yeah, he's like pointed a mad. It's like he would you would
- 47:07you wouldn't betray me twice? It's entirely possible. It's again like my my
- 47:19Funko Pops argument of like classic games I feel like are kind of hit and
- 47:23miss. Like some of them, those original runs are going to be collectibles
- 47:29at high prices, but some of them are just going to be a game
- 47:34that was Okay, I know nothing about this game. Unfortunately, you gont
- 47:37have like mouse Trap for less than twenty bucks nowadays Vampire Traps the same thing.
- 47:45But it's like a wooden cage that comes down the still never works.
- 47:49It just breaks right for you, and Dad gets angry about where all the
- 47:52missing pieces on. No, just me, okay, it's a whole thing.
- 47:54It's a whole thing. I think everybody, why were you hiding pieces
- 47:58as messed up so high higher or lower than twenty dollars higher? I thing
- 48:06is that what we went was, I don't know, we're gonna go over
- 48:08here. And I made the mistake last time, your captain, and I
- 48:13made the mistake of not enforcing my twenty dollars thing. I made the mistake
- 48:17of not enforcing that twenty dollars should So I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna veto I
- 48:23don't want to stay lower because I missed that one. You're gonna if I
- 48:28am wrong, I will listen to you guys on every single thing. All
- 48:36right, Well, let the drama and complicated team politics commence, because this
- 48:39is high. It's forty nine dollars. I was gonna say, Um,
- 48:45So, licensed board games either stay the same as they were when they came
- 48:49out, or they get ridiculously expensive. If they're popular and people want to
- 48:53play them, they'll get ridiculous. Like the Battlestar Galactica board game is like
- 48:59three hundred, one hundred dollars. It came out at like eighty geez um.
- 49:05So I was thinking the Buffy board game has to be somewhere around fifty
- 49:08or higher. So and I can't say that that's not the one I have.
- 49:14The one I actually have is from like the twenty tens, and it's
- 49:16like pandemic. Oh cool. Yeah, you play as each of the characters
- 49:22and you're trying to stave off the vampires and demons long enough to uh,
- 49:25basically save the town of Sunny Gale. It's it's very cool. That's good,
- 49:29that's fun. I'll bring it next time we're coming to Philly. Yes,
- 49:31oh my gosh, Sarah, Oh wait, I won't be involved in
- 49:34that. Mighty yeah, come to man. That's fine, But you gotta
- 49:38watch Buffy before yea. If I've got enough time to binge it, then
- 49:42yeah, yeah, you'll number. It's forty nine dollars higher aloa and maybe
- 49:46stop listening to al Key. Yeah, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Ohs action
- 49:52figure with accessories bracket sealed. The accessories is where wolf stuff. It's got.
- 49:57It's God's gotta be, the world gotta be. It's so cool.
- 50:00I would pay forty bucks for that. Do you think it's lower? Wait,
- 50:04it's unopened, sealed. I don't know all what do you say this
- 50:08time? I've been right every time? Have I? I don't think I
- 50:13have I've been wrong. Um, it's kind of hard with action figures because
- 50:17yeah, unlessen it's like a niche thing, but I don't know it's it's
- 50:22enough of one I think where it probably could be worth more nine more than
- 50:29forty nine l and maybe closer to sixty. But I kind of feel like
- 50:31with this one though, because the character probably less. Yeah, not a
- 50:37dig at Seth Green, but probably less. I think Matt's like they're doing
- 50:43this is that close one? Or like, all right, it's something going
- 50:45to be off by a few dollars. I think it's going to be lower.
- 50:49What do you think, Audre? I think I am also inclined to
- 50:52say lower. Okay, see, this is it team, We're all in
- 50:54agreement, right, this is this is going to be the moment where we
- 50:58where we start crushing them. Okay, yeah, okay saying lower than forty
- 51:02nine dollars. Yeah, Brill's action figure it is it's thirty five dollars.
- 51:07That's gonna be a point. You are united, yes, just like the
- 51:14Scooby Gang. You know, we when we work together, we can't lose.
- 51:22Dang it, we could die, but like we can't lose. No,
- 51:28that's that's the one thing that won't happen on this game show. No
- 51:30one will die. I feel I feel like I've jinked it now for some
- 51:34reason. Everyone stay healthy. No, you would die for a bit looking
- 51:52actors. Man. Okay, I have one final item on your list of
- 52:01Facebook marketplace items. Your number is thirty five dollars? Is this higher roll?
- 52:06Lower than that Buffy the Bunny Slayer porcelain horror doll? I don't know
- 52:12what I wanted the bunnies. Okay, what do we yet? I'm sorry?
- 52:22Thirty nine thirty five? Yeah, okay, I didn't remember. This
- 52:27is a thirty doll, like a like a cuddling doll, like a porcelain
- 52:30dollar, or like a like a yeah, like a I was gonna say,
- 52:34like a child's doll. It looks like a child's doll, but it's
- 52:36made of porcelain, so like a child's display doll. Yeah, my grandma
- 52:39used to buy them. There we go, like a grandma doll? Oh
- 52:43yeah, okay, well it's got way more than thirty five. Yeah.
- 52:45Those dolls are like stupid, like dead American one, Like they're like the
- 52:51Americans are so expensive. This thing's gotta be like way more, because Buffy's
- 52:54way better than the American girl dolls whoa hold on stamp for the slander.
- 53:04I think an American girl has an opinion. She has one at her house.
- 53:09I remember her saying it last week. I have one in my house
- 53:13and try five steven all in the same house as me. Oh my god.
- 53:23Well, yeah, it's it's another one of those like the only very
- 53:28specific type of person would have that right. I think a very specific type
- 53:31of person would pay money for it. Yeah, but how much? I
- 53:35don't more than thirty five, not by much. But it's a bunny one.
- 53:43It's a bunny. It's a funny slater that changes the math. What
- 53:50are what are instincts? My injuring is higher than thirty five, But I've
- 53:53been wrong saying that before mine R two. I'm thinking we're going back up.
- 53:59I'm gonna go with it because even if it's a wrong answer, we're
- 54:01all on the same like, we're all on the same side. And so
- 54:04that is Victorian, you're wearing your options. Yeah, I'm gonna be on
- 54:13my own team. Guys like but weirds, I've tucked to you guys over
- 54:21so I'm trying to reconcile. So you're saying higher than thirty five dollars it
- 54:29is, Yeah, it's seventy five dollars, which I think is quite good
- 54:34for a full porcelain doll of like a Sarah Michelle Geller as a bunny vampire,
- 54:37I think is what this is. It's one of the weirdest looking products
- 54:40I've ever seen. It's why I included it. Absolutely looking awesome, I
- 54:45want one, buddy. All right, Well that's the end of round one.
- 54:51Let's ask our bookworm daddy Rupert Giles to calculate the latest scores. The
- 54:55hell Mouth Hellian's are on three points. The yellow crayon so just behind on
- 55:00two points. Yes, oh my gosh, this is awesome. Did you
- 55:06get nerds? Buffy Hey, the first American Girl? But also now this
- 55:15I'm sorry. Round two is next, But first we've got to play a
- 55:22set of pesky ads. Personally i'd skip them, but some fans say,
- 55:25you've got to listen to the first set for context. But I ask,
- 55:30don't the ads not get really good until somewhere in sort of the second set
- 55:32of ads? And but they don't listen to me, that's meant to be
- 55:36a joke about the watching order of Buffy. I see you after these messages.
- 55:45Round two is called pitch Battle. The Buffy Verse has been on ice
- 55:50as a franchise for a little bit now, largely down to the creator for
- 55:53not updating his feminism in twenty years. So I would like our players to
- 55:58think like junior media ex equy tips and come up with new or alternative ideas
- 56:02for the Buffy Verse. So I will read a prompt out that will be
- 56:06for everyone, and anyone can answer, but I will need at least one
- 56:09answer per team. It's basically fastest thought first, but everyone gets a turn.
- 56:14So just if you haven't response to this prompt that's either funny or good
- 56:17or interesting, it'll be valid, and I'll just score points at random,
- 56:22because, as you can probably tell by now, this game show is massively
- 56:24unfair. Yeah, clear, all right, let's talking about we're winning.
- 56:37Okay, So your first prompt if Buffy were to be remade today in a
- 56:42reboot, who would you cast as Buffy Summits Danny DeVito genius inspired started blasting,
- 56:57Oh, just like jumping up to get the steak in the hot right.
- 57:07Oh and then he gets stuck there and hang on the stick and get
- 57:12me down from me. Do we do we have any advents on Danny DeVitto?
- 57:19How about the girl from Stranger Things when she had her hair grown out,
- 57:22it was all along and I think she would work and she already has
- 57:24the physical But I think and she's already got a following which would hype it
- 57:32up. I think for the reason, I think Jenna would do an amazing
- 57:36That was my other That was my other thoughts. Yeah, but yeah,
- 57:39Aaron said it first, So I'm going to attribute that having a whole series
- 57:43of Danny DeVito. Oh, yes, absolutely. I think we'll go with
- 57:49our final answer of Millie Bobby Brown. Yeah, And I'm just nothing's beating
- 57:52Danny de Vito for me. That's the that's so yellow crayons that well,
- 58:00well can be right, all right. The next prompts there's a new Buffy
- 58:07video game coming out? What genre should it be and why mystery? So
- 58:10they don't choose it getting in there early. I like the gameplay like a
- 58:19mystery, like a Nancy Drew style video game. Yes, like a so
- 58:22like a point click yes, something with a VR headset, like a VR
- 58:34headset, like action game where you are the Slayer like slaying the vampires.
- 58:37That would really world where you could explore all of Sunnydale, the entire school,
- 58:45um, you know, the cemetery, all that good stuff. Nice.
- 58:49I mean, I've explored a lot of places in Point and Click.
- 58:52I've explored them and it feels like I'm there. I don't have to see
- 58:55it in three D to feel like I'm in the Haunted TOWERR game where you
- 59:00actually have to stab the vampires with a physical motion to actually slay them.
- 59:06Oh, that was pretty good. If you can sell your Point and Click
- 59:07a little more, I might be more inclined to con break your stuff in
- 59:10your room. Honestly, the solving of mysteries is integral to Buffy the Vampire
- 59:16Slayer, as acknowledged by the characters themselves in the naming of them as the
- 59:22Scooby Gang. Mysteries is what is important to them, and I think that's
- 59:24what should be important to us as fans. Is the central mystery theme I'm
- 59:30that's going to carry through the gameplay would be so like blocking and awkward,
- 59:36like yeah, will all the puzzles be? You stake on vampire? Like
- 59:40every episode they always do that misdirection of who's actually the like the mini bad
- 59:46and versus the big Bad. So you go through that like almost episodic,
- 59:51but you're able to do it through the point and click. There's literally no
- 59:52reason you couldn't do that in a VR game either. Yeah, but how
- 59:55much you look at the venue of VR, how many people are gonna pay
- 59:58for the VR game? First you can find the right book and finding the
- 1:00:01right passage about the even you're fighting, so you can find out how to
- 1:00:04kill it. Yeah, but how many people can play there without getting motion
- 1:00:07sickness? Who can actually play it more than an hour without the battery dying
- 1:00:10has a Pece scene, You can handle it. You know what does Davie
- 1:00:14That hour long battery life means that these strong people who are playing this game,
- 1:00:19who are inspired by Buffy are going to put the VR headset down and
- 1:00:22go out in the world and slay every fun day. Yes, Queen,
- 1:00:34it's not going to be as strong, But I was thinking, like the
- 1:00:37demographic that like grew up on Buffy, what is going to be more nostalgic
- 1:00:42for them? Like if they're going back for it, it's going to be
- 1:00:45some of those older style games, Like from a marketing perspective like this is
- 1:00:50so this is less interesting for a for a podcast. It's just I'm just
- 1:00:53like, how do I make the most money playing on that nostalgia the types
- 1:00:59of game that they people may have been playing when they were watching Buffy for
- 1:01:04the first time, Like, what is this like synergistic energy that we can
- 1:01:08put together to make money? You and I executive Matt, Yeah, at
- 1:01:14whatever company we're working at. I'm I'm gonna chicken out of this and give
- 1:01:19each team a point because you both made good cases for money making ideas for
- 1:01:23his franchise. So yeah, yeah, true. I would be more likely
- 1:01:25to play the point and click mystery adventure game. I absolutely love one of
- 1:01:30those, like a Textamurphy style. The person I know wouldn't that be epic?
- 1:01:36But still the point and click and you have to figure out the whole
- 1:01:39thing the puzzle. To be fair, I wouldn't use the VR thing honestly,
- 1:01:45each other's ideas. His argument is that he plays VR games all the
- 1:01:51time. Well, he convinced me and it won them the point. I
- 1:01:55also really respected the mystery game. Just getting in before they say it,
- 1:02:00that's yeah, yeah, okay, your next prompts once more with feeling is
- 1:02:06iconic obviously because I've mentioned it three times already. But which other genre formal
- 1:02:10medium should be explored in a Buffy episode. Oh, choose your Own Adventure?
- 1:02:16Definitely, Yeah, Black Mirror episode, Yes, exactly like that.
- 1:02:23And yeah, I think that would be really cool because it is sort of
- 1:02:28like you are. It gives the watcher the opportunity to solve the mystery,
- 1:02:32and if they make a mistake, it could mean like certain fates for certain
- 1:02:37characters, and maybe depending on what the audience's choices were, then the next
- 1:02:40episode would move forward differently. Yeah, it's really cool. Yeah, I
- 1:02:49was gonna say ballet, So I'm glad I would watch the Buffy Ballet watch
- 1:02:57it. Yeah, I'll sticking like one step beyond just go like arg like,
- 1:03:04just go the whole nine, like you have to do all this crazy
- 1:03:07show with it? Yeah, well sorry, what does l stand? Just
- 1:03:12context? You could do the fucking show to grant video game show whatever.
- 1:03:17Like I'm trying to think, like, are you just watching the show on
- 1:03:21your phone? And then if something appears behind it, it will appear in
- 1:03:24the TV show. It's like Pokemon, but um oh yeah, I don't
- 1:03:37know. If any of you guys are familiar with Angel, but they did
- 1:03:40a puppet episode, Yeah, it was going to suggest either puppet or just
- 1:03:45animation general. Oh yeah, yeah, animate. It would be good because
- 1:03:51then, like like they did in Once More with Feeling, you can kind
- 1:03:53of lean into some of those tropes and like in in Musical Theater, there
- 1:03:58is like a song and it does like an explanation of like the two conflict
- 1:04:01pieces coming together and now we have to move forward after that has been revealed,
- 1:04:06you can use some of those types of cartoonish tropes, like the action
- 1:04:11sequences. I think would be even more fun if you like could for an
- 1:04:14episode like play with what the animation style was. Yeah, pretty cool.
- 1:04:20Yeah do you like that idea? Um, because it was built off of
- 1:04:24the puppet idea, which is real from from Angel. I'm going to give
- 1:04:29the point to crayons there just because of how how fast the augmented not the
- 1:04:31augmented reality. That's what he said, the bandistatch style choose your own adventure
- 1:04:36thing, because yeah, that would's great for any kind industry show point to
- 1:04:41the yellow crayons there. Next question, which character other than Angel deserves a
- 1:04:45spinoff and why Spike. Yeah, yeah, literally, Spike, come on,
- 1:04:54yeah, Aaron got in there with Spike. Spike, Spike is taken?
- 1:04:58Who else? And I I would say, I mean, I know
- 1:05:00there are there's a comic series Angel in Faith, but I think Faith would
- 1:05:04also be a really interesting one too. I'll throw her in great shout.
- 1:05:09You don't in consider Giles, Giles, Giles. This isn't like jeff or
- 1:05:15giff Literally Giles. There let's heart in season six? What would a Giles
- 1:05:27spin off look like? I mean, they were actually thinking about one for
- 1:05:29a long time, and I think it was it might have actually been in
- 1:05:31production in Britain. It was going to be during his younger days, and
- 1:05:35I was going to explore his ripper, his ripper personality. Oh, still
- 1:05:41played by Anthony Head. Honestly, I was just thinking going to narrate the
- 1:05:45episodes. But nice, you're going to be by someone younger. I think
- 1:05:49they already did make it. They just called it The Librarian. Do you
- 1:05:53remember that show. It's about British librarians who do action against super n natural.
- 1:06:02Oh, the first it was the TV show. You are right.
- 1:06:05The TV show was Librarians. It was based off of a movie the librarian.
- 1:06:10Yeah, so it's a little mixed up. I also feel like if
- 1:06:14they wanted to try to do all of my answers are such cash grabs,
- 1:06:18but like a Dawn show, if they wanted to go back to high Oh,
- 1:06:27you've committed a Buffy fan. But I mean she's a kid, but
- 1:06:33a lot of people liked kid in high school. Energy if you wanted to
- 1:06:38bring in people who did not watch the original show as like a reboot thing,
- 1:06:42because you know how like Star Wars fans, you like the original one,
- 1:06:45you didn't like the prequels, whatever, but some people that's their entry
- 1:06:49point and then they come in and they understand everything. I get that.
- 1:06:54That makes sense. Let me get your take on this. What if we
- 1:06:57did something with Willow, I know, the end of before the Hell Mouse
- 1:07:00got destroyed or wherever she ascended and whatnot, spoilers back and then others shit,
- 1:07:06and we just go forward from there, Like I'd be down to watch
- 1:07:11what happens after like Everybody's gone and stuff, Sunnydale's gone, you know,
- 1:07:14like actually explore that a bit in the comic books. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:07:17I mean, look, here's the thing I'm going to give the point
- 1:07:20to hell mouse because Crayons just said Spike and then rested on the Laurels that
- 1:07:25that would just be a good idea much you three have actually attempted to I
- 1:07:31should already have enough right that no more should be needed. Honestly, what
- 1:07:36what what do you want? Now? Final Verling? Final Verling is winning
- 1:07:42over now, fans come after you. Absolutely Spike was the correct answer,
- 1:07:53and you know, yeah, look, yeah, Spike might have been the
- 1:07:56correct answer, but I was thinking more of that Guiles one as opposed a
- 1:08:00Dawn. Yeah. I know it's Giles, but it was just Aaron describing
- 1:08:05a show that was already put into exists. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:08:09I didn't think. It wasn't a prompt answer, it was this actually existed.
- 1:08:15It's fun, It's all right. Well, the Dawn one still still
- 1:08:16wins out that Buffy fans come at me. God, people still watch the
- 1:08:25Minions movies and they're arguably the worst part of Despicable Me. Was really people.
- 1:08:31Okay, this isn't a Despicable Me episode of Gately Piz, although I'm
- 1:08:35sure we'll get there around episode one hundred and something. Okay, next question,
- 1:08:41why is he called Spike like this? Would genuinely help me out.
- 1:08:43I have no idea. Someone please tell me. Well, I will tell
- 1:08:45you. He's called Spike because he used to impale his victims on railroad spikes.
- 1:08:50Oh wow, that's genuinely that helps me out. That's that's a point
- 1:08:56I don't. I don't. Here's the thing is, I'm actually going to
- 1:08:59come dick that. Oh because I think he originally got called Spike because his
- 1:09:04poetry was so awful that people wanted to throw themselves onto railroad spikes after listening
- 1:09:10to it. No, so that's why they called him Willie William the Bloody
- 1:09:14His poetry was so bloody awful. Yeah, yeah, but I hear,
- 1:09:17I know true. Yes, Like what you're saying is no, you guys
- 1:09:23are both wrong. What actually it is is like after he got to like
- 1:09:27our age and stuff like not like our like technical age, but like the
- 1:09:30century and whatnot, like of our age, and and then he found hair
- 1:09:34gel Man and he like put some shit in and he was like, oh
- 1:09:38dudes, Fike, I like it, and this is my personality now,
- 1:09:42yeah, you need one thing. I did really enjoy his billy idole.
- 1:09:45Look that one time they flashed back to the eighties. I love that.
- 1:09:50That's nice. I could see him pretty suit and actually, but the points
- 1:09:57already been handed out. Thank you for the information. Caroline ris fastest thought.
- 1:10:00First, will you be watching buff Egil The Vampire Slayer, the TikTok
- 1:10:04exclusive sequel series by Joss Whedon releasing next year? No? No, absolutely
- 1:10:10not all right, that's the correct tent. That's a point about teams.
- 1:10:13And finally, which contemporary a lista is most likely a vampire? Who?
- 1:10:19M oh, that's a good one. Most likely of d information impossible movies?
- 1:10:25What's his nuts name? Keanu Reeves? Is mine? Keana? Think
- 1:10:29of that man? I was thinking he's the least likely to be a vampire,
- 1:10:32So they're probably definitely a vampire and it would be Keyanu. Yeah,
- 1:10:35he but his hair is so strang. He definitely slept in a coffin.
- 1:10:40Have you ever seen him during daylight? No? And he looks like he
- 1:10:46could be dead. For your sexuality, yeah, let's real. That's the
- 1:10:55truest identifier of a vampire is the thing if you question your sexuality? Oh
- 1:11:02like Eric from fucking True Blood, the Viking dudes from the Bar, Yeah,
- 1:11:06oh yeah, yeah. Alexander Skars there you go. So we've got
- 1:11:11we've got tom cruise versus Yeah, I mean, if anybody's technology. My
- 1:11:19mind was Christoph Walts and I couldn't think of his name for the longest time.
- 1:11:25But he for some reason, he exudes vampire energy from big Vampire anytime.
- 1:11:29Yeah, I don't. I don't know why, but he just does.
- 1:11:31Um and he's just absolutely brilliant. Angelina Joe Lee also feels like an
- 1:11:35option. She does also have cheek. You could perch on adopting all those
- 1:11:44children to feed on too. It all makes sense. Oh God, highly
- 1:11:58different meaning um yep. I liked answers from both teams. There so a
- 1:12:02point for each team. Thank you for naming and shaming the vampires of Hollywood.
- 1:12:08You were you were correct about half of them. You will not tell
- 1:12:13us what half surprise. Okay, that's the end of the round. Let's
- 1:12:17ask Willow to calculate the latest scores. Oh, she's too busy levitating people
- 1:12:23with Conney lingus. Fair enough, whoa, whoa? I like that magic
- 1:12:28trick I remember watching. Yeah. Yeah, I'm sorry my references were limited,
- 1:12:35but there's tons of references from you grabbed your phone so quick, I
- 1:12:41thought you're gonna look it up levitations that possible. That's how you know you're
- 1:12:48doing it right, and you just like float. The Hellmouth Hellians are on
- 1:12:57seven points and the Yellow Crayons have taken the lead with eight points. You
- 1:13:00guys, man, math is hard. Up Next is round three. But
- 1:13:05first here's a word from our sponsor, the Double Meats Palace. The Double
- 1:13:10Veggie Medley is back for our plant based fans, now with real meat.
- 1:13:15Okay, now, some real ads see you after that. Round three is
- 1:13:25called rough and Tumblr. It seems our players know their fandom, but how
- 1:13:29well do they know their fellow fans. In this game, I will read
- 1:13:32genuine text posts from Tumbler. Yes it is twenty eleven again, get used
- 1:13:38to it. From each post, I will omit the name of a main
- 1:13:41character from Buffy. It's up to our teams to decipher the context clues in
- 1:13:45order to figure out which character is being written about by the op. And
- 1:13:49for the sake of anonymity, I've changed the user names for each user.
- 1:13:54But again, the text posts one hundred percent reel. So we will begin
- 1:13:57with the Yellow Crayons. Here is your first Tumbler posts and it comes from
- 1:14:00user the carapace, Queen girl help. I'm thinking about how when Blank returns
- 1:14:08from Hell, he falls out of the sky, but when Buffy returns from
- 1:14:12heaven she has to claw her way out of the ground. I don't know
- 1:14:15if it means anything at all, but I'm thinking thoughts, Um, gotta
- 1:14:18be Angel, Angel, Yeah, gotta be Angel. Straight out the gate
- 1:14:25there, Yeah it is Angel. Yeah. Good, good job. Opponent,
- 1:14:28Thank you, respect opponent, thank you, respect, thank you.
- 1:14:35Very friendly nice until I get this one wrong and I get angry. Well,
- 1:14:42hell mouth, your quote comes from us a biggish dog, and they
- 1:14:45had to say, okay, I'm sorry. But the bit where Blank just
- 1:14:50fucking blows up the judge is incredible, like the whole no weapon forged can
- 1:14:57kill me? And then Blank is like that was then the is now and
- 1:15:00whips out of fucking Bazuka. How do I know? Why are you all
- 1:15:03looking at me? For a fact we've recently watched this episode. I'm trying
- 1:15:08to fucking parse who it could have been. If we did it was season
- 1:15:11one, then who was it? I don't know if that's right, do
- 1:15:15you? Okay? I have an image of my in my mind of like,
- 1:15:23uh, Buffy with the like a bazooka thing on her shoulder. I
- 1:15:26think that's just a photo I have seen via osmosis in fandom worlds. Okay,
- 1:15:31who we're asking for? It was? Who's holding the bazooka? Yeah,
- 1:15:33no, I think it's who. Wait read it to me again,
- 1:15:36please? Yeah, Okay, I'm sorry, but the bit where Blank just
- 1:15:40fucking blows up and it is incredible. I've seen a photo of her with
- 1:15:44like a bazooka looking thing on her shoulder, and I'm gonna I don't know,
- 1:15:49Buffy. You're saying, Buffy, it is Buffy. Job. I
- 1:15:55promise these these will get progressively more difficult as we go, but good job.
- 1:15:59No, let's leave it here. Please are Buffy and Angel? Okay,
- 1:16:08crayons. This next one comes from user Raspberry Dreams Forever, and the
- 1:16:12four is a four the number. Guys, what if Blank barely singing in
- 1:16:18once More with Feeling is because her stage fright is so strong not even magic
- 1:16:23can alter it. It's got to be Willow. Yeah, Willow. Willow
- 1:16:27has one song line two two. Yeah, it's it's I've got a theory.
- 1:16:32It could be fantastic. Let's pillow disappointed. Normally I have to like
- 1:16:43force people to sing on this show from my own entertainment. But yeah,
- 1:16:46musical theater. Yes, we're both gonna do it. Lovely stuff. Yeah,
- 1:16:51this is Willow. You are one hundred percent right, that is the
- 1:16:55point. Okay, This next one is for hell Mouth and it is from
- 1:16:59user just butter me up, honey. Another day, Another brain dump about
- 1:17:03Blank. It is so entertaining to me how he's so much the perfect romantic
- 1:17:09lead, like to an absurd degree. He's a bad boy. He's got
- 1:17:13a heart of gold. He's good with kids and moms. He's personable.
- 1:17:16Oh, we we're talking about somebody. Yeah, yeah, good good?
- 1:17:23Who's good with kids? I don't know. Spike's the guy we haven't mentioned
- 1:17:30in this round. I don't horror gold doesn't come to mind when you say
- 1:17:33Spike. Yeah. Well okay, it's either that or is Andrew. It's
- 1:17:40gotta be right, I mean, bad boy? Right? What was the
- 1:17:43first part? Bad boy? I can read it again. Sorry. Another
- 1:17:47day, Another brain dump about Blank. It is so entertaining to me how
- 1:17:51he's so much the perfect romantic lead, like to an absurd degree, he's
- 1:17:56a bad boy. He's got a heart of gold, he's good with kids
- 1:17:58and mom's personable. Crap, it's not Angel again. This is just back
- 1:18:01and forth, aboy. I mean, whatever you guys think is like the
- 1:18:09most likely it's going to be. It's Xander Arrangel Janner's out of bad Boy,
- 1:18:14so Spikery, well, good of moms? Who's good with moms?
- 1:18:19The vampire or the vampire? The one with us a dam little whistles?
- 1:18:24Well, which one had us all at the time. I don't know.
- 1:18:27We'll go We'll go with Angel just in case it seems like yeah, stuff,
- 1:18:30but showing with Angel. Yeah, this one is actually Spike. That
- 1:18:36is what this loved Spike or very very she liked Spike. I think,
- 1:18:42yes, he's great. Yeah, and that's true. Yeah, I should
- 1:18:48have known. Not Tumbler girl and me should have known. Well, we
- 1:18:53will move back on over to the yellow crayons. Here is your next Tumbler
- 1:18:57post. This comes from us a comrade comba back and they have to say.
- 1:19:01I think my thick where Blank accidentally becomes a successful novelist. It's the
- 1:19:06funniest idea I've ever had. This guy started writing little stories to remember their
- 1:19:12adventures in Sunnydale. And posts them online. He unintentionally goes viral. He
- 1:19:16thinks someone named Simon N. Shuster is leaving him voicemails. He ends upon
- 1:19:21the New York Times best seller list without even realizing it. Hmm, could
- 1:19:26this be Andrew? I was thinking Andrew or Jonathan? Can you reread it?
- 1:19:31Absolutely? Please? Do? I think my thick where Blank accidentally becomes
- 1:19:35a successful novelist is the funniest idea I've ever had. This guy started writing
- 1:19:40little stories to remember their adventures in Sunnydale and posts them online. He unintentionally
- 1:19:45goes viral. He thinks someone named Simon N. Shuster is leaving him voicemails,
- 1:19:49and he ends upon the New York Times best seller list without realizing.
- 1:19:53I think you're right. I think it is Andrew. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:19:57okay, locking it in you're going with Andrew. I'm sure that makes more
- 1:20:01sense. But it's actually Xander. This person was talking about Xander. Does
- 1:20:04that track? Wow? He doesn't really write things down? Yeah. I
- 1:20:11think this person was just imagining something in there, right, all right?
- 1:20:16I chose exclusively highly popular and liked tumbler posts, so not necessarily yes.
- 1:20:26Well, okay, Hellian's here is your next Tumbler quote from user problematic faves
- 1:20:39Blank constantly being extremely blunt and honest and not picking up on social cues,
- 1:20:44and when Buffy reads her mind, we find out that she literally has no
- 1:20:46filter and just says whatever she's thinking all the time. Yes, my neurodivergent
- 1:20:51girl, boss queen, that's gotta be Anya, right, the money lady.
- 1:21:00It's unfair that ours was so hard and there's so easy? Is that
- 1:21:03right anyway? Is that right? Is it? Though? I don't know.
- 1:21:06I'm just saying yes because he said it was easy. So when we
- 1:21:10got it right with Anya, I'm going with you because you said a name
- 1:21:13I don't recognize. It was Xander's girlfriend. She was a demon, she
- 1:21:16was funny as fuck, which she didn't like have a filter at all.
- 1:21:20I'm pretty sure you're going with Anya. Yeah, it's it's Cordelia made me
- 1:21:29think I had a right. Of course, I wouldn't want you to get
- 1:21:31that point. Yeah, but yeah, Cordelia is the only one who's mind
- 1:21:34Buffy read mine. Yeah. Oh damn. And I didn't buy the tumbler
- 1:21:42occuments about Santa being a writer, but I thought I to buy the ones
- 1:21:45about Cordelia beating your vegeon. Yes, Cordelia was the funniest part of that
- 1:21:49episode because so true. Every time anyone said anything, they would be Buffy
- 1:21:54would then hear their actual thoughts, but Cordelia would say something and then her
- 1:21:58actual thought would be the same thing. It's so good, so good,
- 1:22:02fantastic. Okay, I have two more or one more for each team.
- 1:22:06These last two characters. They are a little less main like all the previous
- 1:22:10ones were listed as like credited main cast members, but they're definitely still recurring,
- 1:22:15so I think slightly more niche. I don't know. Okay. This
- 1:22:18next one comes from user bfyt w because fandom. Yeah, that's what.
- 1:22:29And this one is the yellow crayons here. It is every single interaction between
- 1:22:33Buffy and Blank is gayer than the actual gay relationship on that show. It's
- 1:22:39faith. It has to be faith because it's so fucking gay. Makes sense,
- 1:22:44Yeah, it's it's gotta be faith. It's gotta be faith. It
- 1:22:46is faith. This one certainly is faith. Nice can confirm? Is this
- 1:22:53is this accurate? Oh? Yeah? Fiction? I read as a young
- 1:22:59teenager numerous no know what I'm doing formative Okay, And this final tumbler extract
- 1:23:08comes from Ultra Dope Girls. Also honorable mention to Blank he is also my
- 1:23:15short king. Sorry, Jos, did you so dirty? Baby? I
- 1:23:19don't know. Is this gonna be Seth Green? Oz? Yeah, I
- 1:23:25guess. I mean we're a team. Let's do it. Okays, motherfucker
- 1:23:30there, I'm pretty sure say shut up to Seth Green as the short King.
- 1:23:35No, this is Jonathan. Jonathan's the tiny nerdy guy who who is
- 1:23:44constantly in like the background of all the adventures through Ryh School and sadly spoilers
- 1:23:50he gets killed. I think, oh, is that guy between season six
- 1:23:55and seven? Yeah, that guy? Show some respect to our short king.
- 1:24:00Yeah, well, now, Oz is a short King. Was a
- 1:24:08sweet dude who did wrong but was trying to be better in the end.
- 1:24:13I think grown, Yeah, he was. He was trying to redeem himself
- 1:24:15and he should absolutely be called the King. I think ye didn't do everything
- 1:24:19right, but he tried to do the right thing in the end, So
- 1:24:24good on him. Yeah, good on Highness. All right, that is
- 1:24:28the end of round three. Let's ask the trio to build me a Buffy
- 1:24:31bot so the Buffy bot can calculate the scores. Be clear, so,
- 1:24:38yeah, there's a line we should not cross. Yeah, there's already been
- 1:24:42talk at botty pillows on this recording. Hell Mouth Hellians are on eight points.
- 1:24:48The Yellow Crayons are storming ahead with eleven points. Okay, it's still
- 1:24:56anyone's game because the quick Fire Round can swing things rapidly. But before we
- 1:25:00get to the quick Fire Around, let's talk prizes. This episode's star prize
- 1:25:05is the concept of empowerments. Just make sure there's not a NEPO grand baby
- 1:25:10screenwriter taking all of the credit for your empowerment. But our winning team will
- 1:25:15also receive smell like Buffy Summer's or Kid Pink Amber and Musk Aaron. We
- 1:25:23have to get it. We don't win, I'll buy it and ship it
- 1:25:30to you. If we win. I'm not doing that. I'm buying the
- 1:25:36one for the Slayer metal band. And then up next is our final round
- 1:25:44come back after this last set of ads, when we'll walk through the fire
- 1:25:46that is the quick Fire Around. Our final quick fire around will test your
- 1:25:58broader pop culture knowledge. And it's called Vampire Weekend. Not because not because
- 1:26:02I'm a punk on campus who gives a fuck about an Oxford comma. No,
- 1:26:06it's because I'm going to test your knowledge of pop culture vampires, and
- 1:26:10we so happen to be recording this on a weekend, so that's why that
- 1:26:14joke still works. In this game, I will give our players clues to
- 1:26:17a vampire from pop culture history. Those clues will be given in the style
- 1:26:21of an eighteenth century Transylvanian vampire's assistant, which I'm pretty nervous about because we're
- 1:26:28recording this episode with proper voice artists on this episode, so I'm just like,
- 1:26:32yeah, I'm nervous. I'll give it a shot though. Oh and
- 1:26:34of course there's a classic gate leaper's twist. You need to say a method
- 1:26:39of slaying a vampire after you say the vampire's name, so you need to
- 1:26:43say something like Wooden Steak or holy Water or the Twilight franchise. As that
- 1:26:47killed mainstream vampire interest for a few years. I was just like, yes,
- 1:26:54factual, Yes. If you don't say a vampire slaying method, I
- 1:26:58can't give you the points. It is quick fire, so buzz in by
- 1:27:00yelling out your team name. Let's practice that now, grands hell, oh
- 1:27:06go, I'm so sorry. There's three different things to think about. Cold
- 1:27:13you repeat slag methods. Absolutely yes, just no one. Yeah, if
- 1:27:18you stick on garlic, that's absolutely fine. Okay, fair enough. I'll
- 1:27:25give an example so we can all have a little practice. If I said,
- 1:27:28I let me get there, I'll edit this pile. But let's let
- 1:27:30me try and get into some kind of Eastern vaguely Eastern European sounding voice.
- 1:27:36Yes, master, oh great, original literary vampire. We will travel to
- 1:27:42Whitby. Oh great, yes Caroline, yes, sticking a vampire, yes
- 1:27:48good, follow it up with a slave method and you'll get it. Oh
- 1:27:54my gosh, so many things. It was so quick to point for someone
- 1:27:58who cannot buzz in for the life of her. It's so bad that first
- 1:28:05I kind of wish we had those fancy pfy t W buzzes right now.
- 1:28:10It would make things so much easier. Just remember your team name to buzz
- 1:28:20in, and then you can like vamp for time and you can interrupt me
- 1:28:27at any point. All right, we'll start the timer. Here we go,
- 1:28:30yes, master, oh great, pale one, you shall put a
- 1:28:33CGI baby inside bella swamp. That's yeah, that's crayon, that's Caroline Edward
- 1:28:41culin the sun. Yes, perfect answer, there's a point from Twilight.
- 1:28:51Yes, Master Oh King from the Old Viking Lands, you are a great
- 1:28:56area fifty one Sheriff, and maybe later we can have drinks fanctasa, yesdv
- 1:29:03Oh Eric Uh from a Staking from Behind. Yes, I'll take that.
- 1:29:12It's Eric Northman from True Blood and a Staking from Behind. That's that's fine
- 1:29:15by me. Yeah, yeah, yes, Mistress Oh, Slayer of the
- 1:29:20Bass Guitar, Oh, Lover of bubblegum my Vampire Queen of oo shit.
- 1:29:26I should know this. Anyone want to buzz in? I know we're going
- 1:29:31to pass this one, don't got it? This one is Marsoline Abadi or
- 1:29:36the Vampire Queen Adventure time. You should have known that one. I was
- 1:29:42like, why why do I know this? Okay? Oh, I had
- 1:29:45no idea. Yes, Master Oh, descendant of Mystic Falls. May your
- 1:29:49sire bonds hold strong and your diaries go unread. If that's what this series
- 1:29:55is about hell mouths. Yes, or the main guy from Vampire Diaries and
- 1:30:01then you throw some rice on the floor and then you stake him. Okay,
- 1:30:04I'm gonna need the name of the vampire Ryan. It's a good guess.
- 1:30:12It's a it's a vampire name maybe, although no one said Ryan Reynolds
- 1:30:15or any of the other Hollywood Ryan's in that round, John Smith because it's
- 1:30:20like Dracula. So no, this is Stephen Salvatore from the Vampire Diaries.
- 1:30:31I feel like if I didn't include it in a Vampire episode, some vampire
- 1:30:35fans would have been a bit mad. Yeah, let's see if you get
- 1:30:38this next one. Oh, yes, Master, Ah felt it. Educator
- 1:30:42of Children's tell. Yes, Carola Racula from Sesame Street, The Sun,
- 1:30:48The Count, the Count. Yeah, the team work makes the dream work.
- 1:30:53I'll take that yet, absolutely, the Count and the Sun lovely stuff.
- 1:30:56Yes, Master, a living vampire and one who is a who has
- 1:31:00a complicated relationship with spiders. It is indeed your time, and you were
- 1:31:04played by a man with a grooming cult that people don't talk about enough in
- 1:31:09the media. Oh yeah, my sentiment is exactly, living vampire, complicated
- 1:31:17relationship with spiders. It is indeed your time. And then the grooming cult
- 1:31:25thing only makes sense if you know that he has this. Yeah, my
- 1:31:28assumption. There's Jared Letto, but I got nothing. I really don't know.
- 1:31:32No, and of the past. Yeah, I thought that I would
- 1:31:36know so many. Jason is screaming from California right now. This this,
- 1:31:44this is Morbius norvels Morbius Oho, so it was Jared letoot, Okay,
- 1:31:58let's keep going. Yes, mistress, oh, Greek vampire in New York
- 1:32:05City. May you find Gregore in this life or his next hell mouth?
- 1:32:11Yes? Uldra oh fuck? I know the actress's name at this point.
- 1:32:15That might do Natasha Dmitri you garlic, Yes, I will take it.
- 1:32:19It is Natasha Demitri's character Nadia from What We Do in the Shadows. Nice.
- 1:32:27I haven't watched that show yet. I am learning that I have not
- 1:32:29consumed enough vampire related Yeah, I mean Buffy, sure, but all non
- 1:32:38Buffy stuff And I'm like, I don't know, Yeah, I've I've you
- 1:32:42know, we'll keep going with all of them, and maybe this is just
- 1:32:44the nichest quick fire around yet. Yes, Master, oh, Master of
- 1:32:48New Orleans who was portrayed by a pit of this hair. Also, someone
- 1:32:55called ann Rice would like to interview yours. Yes, Sarah uh Lestat decapitation.
- 1:33:02Yes, I think that's one of the names, like Lewis de point
- 1:33:04de Lac, like that de Lac is what you were saying yeah, yeah,
- 1:33:09I'm giving you the point because of how little everyone has said any vampires
- 1:33:13in this round. The only vampire I know from the interview with the vampire
- 1:33:18is Lestat. That's good. That's good enough for me. That's definitely the
- 1:33:23property I was looking for. Yes, yes, Master a great veteran of
- 1:33:28World War One and shadow of Flats with other supernatural beings. I would avoid
- 1:33:32the Box Tunnel twenty and if I were you, I would try to be
- 1:33:36being Human. Yes, oh I know the show. I don't know.
- 1:33:43I know the show. What's the show? It's um, you can tell
- 1:33:45me it's it's Home Improvement. I fucking knew it. Being Human is the
- 1:33:57show? Yeah yeah, I didn't know the main characters name, no idea.
- 1:34:01It's what I'm finding interesting is more people know pop culture beverages than vampires,
- 1:34:05is what I've learned from this. We did that on a previous episode
- 1:34:09and it was pretty niche, but everyone had the answers. Now because now
- 1:34:14like not too many people know about vampires. This is when they're gonna rise
- 1:34:16against us because we're not paying attention. I think. So I'm gonna have
- 1:34:19to make my self mistake like you did just in case. Oh well three
- 1:34:27mores ago, I will get one of these, yes, master, oh
- 1:34:30mascot of Mills General nice. Yes, Count Tracula diabetes. You certainly could
- 1:34:43have could kill a vampire with that. Yes, good stuff, so we
- 1:34:48got. We got the cereal and the Sesame Street character. Good knowledge.
- 1:34:53I got the word crayon stuck in my pro an actual, I couldn't get
- 1:35:00it out. You beat me, yes, mistress, Oh, fan fiction
- 1:35:05character of infinite infamy, Oh, girlfriend of Draco Malfoy. I give my
- 1:35:12mortal life for yours, immortal cran Oh, yes, my immortal what is
- 1:35:16her name? Shit? Oh? Go on, if you get roughly close,
- 1:35:19I will give you the point. It's like, oh my god,
- 1:35:24it's like Raven co or like some Raven's got five names. Raven is one
- 1:35:30of them. So I will take the idea. Yes, ebony, darkness,
- 1:35:35dementia, Raven white character name. I thank you for like bringing that
- 1:35:45back into my brain. I totally sister. Yeah. If I was reminded
- 1:35:50about it reading a Wikipedia list of famous vampires, then everyone else must be
- 1:35:55due, okay and quick before the buzzer. Yes, Muster, the spinoff
- 1:36:00is ready for you, O, great champion of Twilight. Perhaps later you
- 1:36:03would like to look at some Bones with Zoe Deschanel's sister. Yes, the
- 1:36:09vampire isn't this there? I got nothing? Yes, Master, the spinoff
- 1:36:15is ready for you? Spin off how mouthed? Yes, old Bones,
- 1:36:21it's not it's not Bones brands. Yes, Aaron Angel, it is Angel
- 1:36:30and that's the buzz. He's in Bones with massive jerk me. Okay,
- 1:36:45before we get to the final scores, I'd like to thank our players.

- 1:40:41me wherever donuts are sold donuts, So yeah, I guess links to all
- 1:40:47of those and to why good good donuts are sold in the description. If
- 1:40:51I've got time, I'll do that as well. Just keep talking so you
- 1:40:57get talking. That's yeah. If you love what we do here at Gatesleapers,
- 1:41:02you will absolutely love bfyt W And they release every week as well,
- 1:41:05so you don't have to wait two weeks like you do for Gateleapers. Get
- 1:41:09your panel show fixed from them, and a huge thank you to Ash and
- 1:41:12Adam Wood for their continued support at the highest tier over at patreon dot com.
- 1:41:15Forward Slash Gatesleapers, you are our executive producers. Thank you for not
- 1:41:20bullying us on set. Final job at Josh weedmer Okay, let's get to
- 1:41:26the scores. Men, is such an easy target. Okay, the final
- 1:41:32scores are hell Mouth Hellians. You finish on eleven points. Sweet, we
- 1:41:39were not from eight. Good job, guys, we are progressing the entire
- 1:41:43game. I think, yes, this positivity, it's like you actually weren't
- 1:41:48except you didn't because our actual real wizers as predicted the Yellow Crayons finish on
- 1:41:55sixteen points. Congratulates, good job, Aaron. We did it together,
- 1:42:00brother. Heck yeah, heck yeah. But listen, no, no,
- 1:42:04we're not looking down our nose at the Hellmouth Hellians. You did a great
- 1:42:09job. You think they're great, and we would be happy to continue training
- 1:42:13you to be better and better slayers so that one day you can take our
- 1:42:15ranks. Are we potentials? You are absolutely potential, potential, potential what
- 1:42:27we have been gate Leapers. Thank you so much for listening. Subscribe to
- 1:42:30this feed for more geeky game shows. We've got game shows about Supernatural,
- 1:42:33Twilight, and plenty of other fandoms that don't feature vampires. Leave us a
- 1:42:39five star review if you had a good time, and ignore this sentence.
- 1:42:42If you didn't, please share this episode with a friend, a Buffy fan,
- 1:42:45an Angel fan, your fundamentalist parents who thought Buffy was a sin.
- 1:42:50We'll be back next time when we'll try and find a link to the future.
- 1:42:55But until then, I leave you with this inspiring quote from Whistler in
- 1:42:59the Buffy season two finale. The big moments are gonna come. You can't
- 1:43:01help that. It's what you do afterwards that counts. That's when you find
- 1:43:05out who you are. Few sounds like a lot of pressure regarding identity permanence.
- 1:43:11I think I'll stick to the small moments like this one right here.
- 1:43:18Oh my goodness, what an episode. Just me on the outro for this
- 1:43:23one as Jason is in California and Audre has run off to watch Buffy,
- 1:43:28which I can't blame her. So yeah, this is an all timer for
- 1:43:31me. I loved this episode so much. This recording was so much fun.
- 1:43:35It's always such a blast to record with the panel show trio, the
- 1:43:41non misogynistic trio, not the Buffy trio. They're hilarious. I admire them
- 1:43:45so much. The fact that three Americans can can take the sort of British
- 1:43:50style panel show game show format and do something different with it every week,
- 1:43:56it's incredible, truly an inspiration to what we do here. I know I
- 1:44:00said this in the recording itself, but I'm going to reiterate it here.
- 1:44:03If you love what we do, you absolutely must subscribe to BFY tw and
- 1:44:10first time guest Caroline Ahula voice artist, podcaster. I think you'll agree all
- 1:44:15round fantastic human being. She has so many exciting projects going on right now.
- 1:44:20I still don't know who she'll be playing in Marvel Move, but I'm
- 1:44:24confident. I'm confident with my Hulk guests, and you can hear her in
- 1:44:29the game Trinity Fusion, which is available on Steam. There is a link
- 1:44:32in the show notes to that if you would like to hear the talented Caroline
- 1:44:36in video game medium. But if fandom podcasts are more of your thing,
- 1:44:41and I take it because you're listening to this, they may just be.
- 1:44:44Caroline co hosts a dangan romper podcast called Ultra hope girls. So if you
- 1:44:48are a dangan Romper fan, I imagine that is a must must listen.
- 1:44:53I'm sure I will know more about what dangan Romper is when we hopefully fingers
- 1:44:58crossed do a gately pos in the future. But something I don't need to
- 1:45:01cross my fingers for is Caroline's other podcast, It's Locked and Nancy Drew podcast,
- 1:45:08which made ORDER a very happy a long time Nancy Drew fan. So
- 1:45:12yeah, maybe a Nancy Drew Gatesleapers on the horizon. Who knows? Who
- 1:45:15knows? I could keep saying nice things about today's guests forever, so I
- 1:45:20should probably stop and wind this one down. Thank you so much for listening.
- 1:45:24Patreon dot com forward slash Gatesleapers if you would like to support us financially,
- 1:45:29if not, share this episode with the Buffy fan in your life,
- 1:45:31have them come at me for my various takes. And yeah, that's that's
- 1:45:34Buffy. We've we've done Buffy. But what's coming next? M should I
- 1:45:39give it a little tease for those of you who've listened all the way to
- 1:45:42the end, Well, if you didn't guess from the clue, we will
- 1:45:45be leaping into the world of Zelda. Yes, everyone has leaped back into
- 1:45:49Zelda these past few months thanks to Tears of the Kingdom, but we're going
- 1:45:54to leap even further back as well as a little bit into Tears of the
- 1:45:59Kingdom. So be back in three weeks, the second Thursday in July.
- 1:46:02Until then, everyone, have a fantastic start to your summer. I hope
- 1:46:05it's sunny wherever you are, wherever you are, even if you're in Antarctica.
- 1:46:10I hope our one listener in Antarctica, I hope it's sunny there still
- 1:46:15classically I see, so that you get what you want from it, but
- 1:46:16you know, with a bit of extra a bit of extra sunshine. Thanks
- 1:46:20for listening. I'm going to go join Audra and watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
