- 0:06Speaker 2: Bob Joyce and Coach cab back here at bear Smokehouse Barbecue.
- 0:09Speaker 1: We're keeping an eye on the on the bean pot.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Harvard leeds Northeastern three to one third period tonight. And
- 0:15Speaker 2: you've been a part of this forever third, three hundredth
- 0:18Speaker 2: game between BC and BU.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a long time. It's a lot of hockey.
- 0:24Speaker 3: That's a lot of games. Yeah. I was part of
- 0:26Speaker 3: it for eighteen years, so average of at least two,
- 0:30Speaker 3: probably three games a year, So I was involved fifty
- 0:34Speaker 3: to sixty of them, sure.
- 0:35Speaker 1: And sometimes even four probably right, four times occasionally.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Yeah, one year we played them five times.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Wow.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that's like Gino playing Notre Dame like three, like
- 0:44Speaker 2: three forty three years in a road they played them
- 0:46Speaker 2: four times. Yeah, in the in the early two thousand,
- 0:49Speaker 2: like in the twelve, twelve, thirteen, and fourteen.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Yeah, we played four times a year. It's crazy.
- 0:54Speaker 2: By the way, have you seen the new Netflix thing
- 0:56Speaker 2: on the Olympic hockey team?
- 0:58Speaker 3: I did.
- 0:59Speaker 2: I watched it really good, lot of more more player
- 1:02Speaker 2: interaction than I've ever seen before. And I love the
- 1:05Speaker 2: fact that they interviewed Ralph Cox, who was the last guy,
- 1:08Speaker 2: Yeah take it off the roster.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it was interesting. It was I still feel for
- 1:12Speaker 3: him every single time I see that. But I thought
- 1:16Speaker 3: it was it was some a perspective. I had a
- 1:19Speaker 3: friend of mine told me to watch it, and I
- 1:21Speaker 3: was like, why am I going to watch this again?
- 1:23Speaker 3: Like I've seen the movie, I know the story, I
- 1:25Speaker 3: know how it ends, and they said, no, no, that
- 1:28Speaker 3: you should watch it. I think there's a different perspective.
- 1:31Speaker 3: And I'm glad I did. I'm glad I listened, uh,
- 1:34Speaker 3: because I thoroughly enjoyed it and seeing it there was
- 1:37Speaker 3: a lot of footage that nobody had seen before, so
- 1:41Speaker 3: it was it was extremely well done. And for once
- 1:44Speaker 3: I listened and.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Well, you know, usually when they do those things, you
- 1:49Speaker 2: get a Eruzione, you get Craig. Of course, you got
- 1:52Speaker 2: some stuff from her Brooks, but and even Mark Johnson
- 1:55Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 1:55Speaker 1: He was the best player. He was my favorite player
- 1:57Speaker 1: on that team.
- 1:57Speaker 2: But you got Rob mcclanahey, and you got all you got,
- 2:00Speaker 2: You got everybody Ramsey, you got Kenny Morrow, who promptly
- 2:05Speaker 2: went out won a couple of Stanley for Stanley cups
- 2:08Speaker 2: to the gold medal.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Yeah, but it was just it was so in depth
- 2:11Speaker 1: and it was so well done. No, it really was.
- 2:13Speaker 3: I agree.
- 2:13Speaker 2: All right, Well, this weekend you go to Orto, Maine,
- 2:16Speaker 2: which is one of the great hockey college hockey atmospheres
- 2:19Speaker 2: anywhere in the country. Maine is currently twenty three points
- 2:24Speaker 2: in Hockey East right with bu played them in the
- 2:27Speaker 2: Hockey's Championship Game last year. Poarrier is an impressive freshman
- 2:31Speaker 2: who's had a great year. Holt Natu is still back.
- 2:34Speaker 2: They you talk about a team that's got a lot
- 2:36Speaker 2: of guys with double figure points like Yukon, Maine is
- 2:39Speaker 2: exhibit A right there.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Yeah, and they play a truculent brand of hockey, like
- 2:44Speaker 3: they're gonna it's gonna be you know, dump it in.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Two guys are coming and it's gonna be kitty bar
- 2:51Speaker 3: the door. So we've got to be ready to answer
- 2:54Speaker 3: the bell, no question about it. Up there, they get
- 2:57Speaker 3: those cow bells going and it's just they you know,
- 3:03Speaker 3: they try to shrink the zone on you and make
- 3:06Speaker 3: it tough for you to get out of your own zone.
- 3:08Speaker 3: They they won't trap. They'll play a lot of pressure hockey,
- 3:12Speaker 3: and we've got to be on our toes and ready
- 3:14Speaker 3: to go.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Thirteen players with double figure points, eleven forwards, two defensemen.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Holtz is really good in that department, and I.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Forget Chabrier was a pretty good player too.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Yeah, and they still and boy is still is really
- 3:27Speaker 1: good in.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Goal, yes, Yes, and he's been you know the other
- 3:31Speaker 3: kid Rousseau is it who's been playing a little bit
- 3:33Speaker 3: for them?
- 3:33Speaker 1: Yep?
- 3:34Speaker 3: I know they've been going back and forth. They've been
- 3:36Speaker 3: solid and goal and Ben does an excellent job with
- 3:40Speaker 3: their team. They apply a lot of pressure and if
- 3:44Speaker 3: you're not ready and you're not playing with poise, it can,
- 3:49Speaker 3: you know, frustrate you and then they can force you
- 3:52Speaker 3: into turnovers that bad turnovers that end up in greade
- 3:56Speaker 3: A opportunities. So managing the puck is going to be
- 3:59Speaker 3: a extremely important.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah, last two games they've lost it over.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Time to be you and to providence before we go
- 4:05Speaker 2: to the break and hear from the boys. Anthony Lanceomaki
- 4:08Speaker 2: interest in Fraser power plays up to twenty two percent
- 4:11Speaker 2: fourth and Hockey East penalty kills was just above eighty percent.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Do you like where your special teams are at this point?
- 4:16Speaker 3: I do, I do. I think you know, they're both
- 4:20Speaker 3: very solid. I like the fact that, you know, knock
- 4:23Speaker 3: on wood, we haven't been taken a lot of penalties either.
- 4:26Speaker 3: I thought, you know, we made a point. You know,
- 4:29Speaker 3: I believe where either first or second in the league
- 4:34Speaker 3: and the fewest amount of penalties taken. I believe somewhere
- 4:37Speaker 3: around that. I know we're top. I think Tyler told
- 4:41Speaker 3: me we're top twelve in the country and fewest penalties taking.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Okay, and.
- 4:46Speaker 3: You know your special teams are going to be a
- 4:47Speaker 3: lot better if you don't have to kill six or
- 4:49Speaker 3: seven penalties a night, right it's.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I think were only three penalties Friday night.
- 4:53Speaker 3: I believe, Yeah, yeah, I think we only had two
- 4:56Speaker 3: penalty kills and one might have been matching. But h
- 5:00Speaker 3: when you don't have to do that, it just you
- 5:03Speaker 3: have so much more energy for your team, because when
- 5:05Speaker 3: you're killing penalties all the time, guys that don't kill
- 5:08Speaker 3: penalties they have to sit on the bench and they
- 5:10Speaker 3: get out of rhythm. And when you're on the power
- 5:12Speaker 3: play all the time, guys that aren't on the power
- 5:15Speaker 3: play don't get to play. So you know, two or
- 5:18Speaker 3: three penalties a game isn't bad, especially if they're charging
- 5:22Speaker 3: or boarding type penalties. You know, anything after the whistle,
- 5:26Speaker 3: to me, is unacceptable. It's stuff we don't want to
- 5:28Speaker 3: stay away from. But I really like the discipline we've
- 5:33Speaker 3: been playing with.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Yeah, we talked about that on a few occasions during
- 5:36Speaker 2: our Coaches shows.
- 5:37Speaker 1: All right, we'll give Cab a break. Wow.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Did I see Dan's alexis here too? I almost didn't
- 5:42Speaker 2: recognize Alexa because she's wearn a sweatshirt.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I mean, come on, that's good stuff. Though.
- 5:47Speaker 2: She's a sweetheart, absolute sweetheart. We love her on a
- 5:50Speaker 2: women's beat. All right, Well, come back, Anthony Lance, Samaki,
- 5:53Speaker 2: Tristan Fraser. They're coming up next as The Coaches Show
- 5:55Speaker 2: continues live at Bear Smokeouse Barbecue here on Learfield
