- 0:47[SPEAKER_02]: The bills are at St.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_02]: John Fisher three days of camp this week.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, they checked in Tuesday.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_02]: James Cook checked in, which is always a good sign.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's why I'm wearing the luck James Cook shirt.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_02]: We got a ton of talk about.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_02]: We got red helmets.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_02]: We got Kian Coleman defensive line standouts.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about Tridavius White and the other cornerbacks, the safety room, chemistry between Josh Allen and Dalton conceding the wide receivers.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_02]: Joey Bosa, Joe and Jason, whole bunch of stuff.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: But first, A-Rex, let's talk about the red helmets because that's what everybody wanted to talk about this week.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody was told that the red helmets weren't coming and then we got the red helmets.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_02]: How do you feel about the red helmets?
- 1:23[SPEAKER_02]: Is this a needle mover for you?
- 1:25[SPEAKER_02]: Is this something big?
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: No, not really, it's just, you know, red helmets.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: I understand when when when fans around the NFL landscape, you see certain teams, they switch in their uniforms, they're switching their jerseys, they're switching their helmets, they're like damn the buffalo bills.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: They've had the same uniform concept for a while now.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: So we want to see some type of change, right?
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's the what what what most people get caught up in for me, you know, is it going to come with a Superbow?
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: because if it comes to the Super Bowl, then I'm all for it.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise, no big deal, man.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: No big deal.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we found out about that.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_02]: And then we found out that the big teas of the rivalry jerseys that they're going to unveil in October against the Patriots.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, we haven't really seen much.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: We saw at the end of the little teaser video that they had was the silver buffalo with like the royal bills blue outline.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_02]: How do you feel about that?
- 2:21[SPEAKER_02]: Or is that not an needle mover either?
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: Not necessarily.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: Not necessarily.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: Not, not, not a needle mover.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: I understand, you know, some people want to see change.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm, again, if it comes with a Superbow.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: Then I'd be old for it, right?
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: So all right.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_02]: So we talked about the right helmets.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: Now everybody could chill out, right?
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: Because I'm right.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: So everybody that's watching if you're watching it now or if you're watching the replay first up if you're watching now smash the like if you're watching the replay smash the like if drop some comments in there if you're watching this after we're live if you are watching live.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_02]: Put in there what your favorite helmet is.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: Is it the red helmet?
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: Is it the charging buffalo helmet?
- 3:00[SPEAKER_02]: Is it the standing buffalo helmet?
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: Put in the comment section.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's going to help us when the YouTube algorithm.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: Please subscribe to our channel on YouTube.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: We are trying immensely.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_02]: A rich in me have devised lots of plans this off season to try to help grow our YouTube audience.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: We'd love to be on a lot more people's news feeds.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're watching on Twitter and Facebook, please share this in comment.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so I'm going to ask you a game.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is how we started the show last week.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_02]: I think this will be a reoccurring theme.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_02]: Where?
- 3:27[SPEAKER_02]: I laid out all the topics at the top of the show.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_02]: Where do you want to go first?
- 3:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to let you drive the ship for a second.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_02]: Where do you think we should go first?
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: You know what, I'm thinking we should start on the offensive side of bull offensive offensive plays or sexy offensive players or sexy.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I would like to get into Keyon Coleman.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: I want to get some thoughts on Keyon Coleman, how he's been playing so far in training camp and how he's progressed from day one to day three.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: So let's start there.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so Keyon Coleman,
- 4:06[SPEAKER_02]: polarizing figure on whatever end of the spectrum you land on either people are saying he's a bust people are saying just give him time to grow people are saying well before the injury he was on pace he probably would have had a thousand yards big play guy we saw some snafu's and some stuff with some drops and things like that from what's coming out of camp it's kind of hot and cold right it's kind of everything
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: you know, all encompassing of what a wider receiver is.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: Now he's in his second year.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_02]: So I think a lot of what the bills want to do in offense.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's going to rely on the progression of key on Coleman, right?
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: I think we know how Sean McDermott feels.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think we know how Brandon Bean feels.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_02]: They've come out and said it as much that he needs to, you know, he needs to dial it in for for year two.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm I'm prefacing all of that, but
- 5:00[SPEAKER_02]: the stuff that we've seen in camp it's really funny on social media because he has a good day and it's like the praises there the praises there then he has a bad day and it's the sea i told you so crowd and sea i told you so crowd so i think it's July twenty six today i think it's
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: If we get into the end of the preseason and the beginning of the season and he's still having in consistent play, then I think it's a concern.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_02]: So what what's your take?
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: What do you what do you think we need to see from Kian Coleman because we kind of touched on the wider sea of a room a little bit?
- 5:33[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like there's a lot of what the bills offense a lot of folks are saying
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: What if this guy does that?
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: What if this guy does that?
- 5:42[SPEAKER_02]: We need this guy to have his best season.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_02]: We need this guy to put his best foot forward.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll just stick to key on Coleman.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_02]: What's your take on Keon Coleman?
- 5:51[SPEAKER_02]: Because we didn't get to talk about him a lot last season.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: Just you and me.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: And where do you think this goes?
- 5:56[SPEAKER_02]: What you've seen in camp?
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: What do you think it means?
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: Coming off of last season?
- 5:59[SPEAKER_02]: All that stuff.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: Where do you land on this?
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: Keon Coleman, so what I've seen thus far, obviously, you know, we've been seeing throughout the course of the entire offseason him working out and working on his footwork and him working on his route running.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: So we've been seeing a lot of Keon Coleman
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: throughout this all season, not that we're getting into training camp.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: He has some inconsistencies this first day.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, he has some inconsistencies.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: But ever since then, it seems as if he's been turning on as of late.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: When Khalil Shakira first came to the Buffalo Bill, he had his inconsistent days as well.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: He had his days where he was dropping the ball and practiced the tunnel as well.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: And we know what type of receiver Khalil Shakira is now.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: He came from
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: being inconsistent to being Mr. reliable, the most reliable past catcher to Buffalo bills have on the team now.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: So I like what I've seen thus far from Keon Coleman.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: I like his ability to get open.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: I see some plays where he line up against trade, white and he has success there.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I like his, his size and his, and his mental makeup thus far.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: He understands that, okay, if I make a mistake, that was last play.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to make it affect me this play.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: So I like the mentality of Keon Coleman.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: And we also have to do a better job getting the ball in his hands.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's up to Joe Brady.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: I seen a lot of short route so far and can't where he gets the ball and he gets to be that that yet guy, so to speak.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see if he can make plays after the catch.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that will be pivotal as well, lining him up in multiple spots.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think we have to have a positionless white receiver group where they can line up in a multitude of spots.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: to take advantage of the defense.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: Now, we know Kalisha Kira is a slot receiver.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: That doesn't mean he needs to line up in a slot, a hundred percent of the time.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: Last season, Keon Coleman line up in a slot, ten point seven percent of the time.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that may have to be an uptick another five percent this season because
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: people are have do have concerns with separate and consistently.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: So let's do what Kian and Coleman can do best and that's possibly fifty fifty bowls.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: We've seen Tariq woolen last season with the with the Seattle Seahawks.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: We saw that one hand grab.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: We hope to get more of that this season.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: And let's get some short and intermediate passes.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: for for Keon Coleman, let's see what he can do in the open field and with that yak yotted.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: So so far so good in my opinion what I've seen with Keon Coleman on that and let's not forget last season he was fourth in Yars per reception for the Buffalo Bill's last year.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: So we can implement that short game to go along with that that long game that he had last year.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think he can I think you can have an uptick in progression in this Buffalo Bill's offense.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: So I saw a lot of stuff this week, and this is just gonna be you and me just to spit ball in here, just talking.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_02]: I saw a lot of stuff this week, because he posted that workout video, right?
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: And then everybody saw Elijah Moore's workout video, and everybody was like, this is not the same thing.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I think you and me, we briefly talked about it last week, like that's not what he does.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_02]: He's not even in the long play that they showed from practice.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_02]: His movement is just awkward looking, but
- 9:17[SPEAKER_02]: How many times last year, a couple plays come to mind.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_02]: The game against the Texans.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, the bill's lost that game.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_02]: So a lot of people don't like to talk about that game.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: There was nothing fancy about what he did to get down the sideline and score that long touchdown.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was at the game against the culture was at the Titans.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think it was the Titans game where he had that other
- 9:38[SPEAKER_02]: He lined up, I believe he'd lined up.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_02]: It was either right in the slutter, just short outside.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_02]: It was a short crossing route and Josh hit him right away.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_02]: And he didn't do anything flashy, but he turned it into something.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_02]: Key and Coleman's not going to be a burner.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: We touched on this last week.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_02]: He wasn't drafted for his speed.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_02]: He was drafted to be a mismatch, which is what you want when you're Joe Brady and you're dialing up schemes, especially when it comes to red zone play.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_02]: you talked about with the catch with a over-title and the catch against the giants for the last game in the season like, or the last jet's game last year.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to be that guy that you just need to throw the ball to.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: And if he's covered or not, he's got to go make the play.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: That's who he was in college.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_02]: He's got the basketball background.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_02]: We saw what he did this offseason playing of a pickup charity basketball game.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: Like he's athletic.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's just not what everybody likes.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's not what everybody wanted.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_02]: in the offseason.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a speedster.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a burner.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a first round draft pick.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_02]: So I think we need to let it play out.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_02]: I saw a comment from Roy Collins, which I want to get your take on this because it's really interesting question.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: What if the bill's offense thrives in spite of Coleman?
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like what if the bills get in a routine with Palmer and Shakir?
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: And I really think that Samuel has a role on this team.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people are talking about him as a trade candidate.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_02]: And then, you know, Elijah Moore and all these guys, what if Keon's just like that third or fourth option?
- 11:09[SPEAKER_02]: And Josh is comfortable with the other guys that have more experience, but in the league longer, what does that mean for Keon Coleman?
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: Now, it all depends on what your expectation is of key on Coleman.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: The expectations might be different from person to person.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: Now, if you're looking at him as the first round, picking the second in the second round and you're looking at him as a guy that should be
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: wanted to go to guys or feature guy within the offense, and he doesn't produce while the Buffalo Bill's offense have success, then it might be a disappointment, right?
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: But honestly, how I look at a key on Coleman, I look at key on Coleman to fill that Mac Hollins role from last year.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's how I view him.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: Now, is that good enough to others who knows, but I look at a big physical specimen who can have success in in contested catches in contested catch in areas that can be a run block in the run game.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: And that can provide a multitude of things for the Buffalo Bill's offense, not necessarily in the stat department all the time.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's going to have these stats that is going to wow you.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: But I think he can do a multitude of things with it within the offense that can be successful for him and ultimately for the team.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: So I believe it just just how do you view key on Coleman?
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: If you're expecting a thousand yard seasons from key on Coleman and and and ten touchdowns, then you might be in for a disappointment.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_02]: I don't honestly think that wide receiver exists in Joe Brady style of offense.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it does.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Khalil Shakir might get pretty close.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if he continues a little bit of an uptick in progression or in production over what he had last year, I feel like he could get close to a thousand yards.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, a few more targets here in there.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_02]: And we talked last week and I asked you the question.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: I said, how do you feel if he and Coleman Dalton concede Khalil Shakir, Joshua Palmer,
- 13:17[SPEAKER_02]: Kurdistan, they all get three receptions per game.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't I don't think I would be upset with that because that's fifty receptions for each of them on at the end of the year plus fifty plus.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so if you look at it that way based off a target share, I don't.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_02]: It's hard when you talk about when you when you involve Dalton concave in the conversation because he is a first-round pick and we do want to see the.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_02]: production from a first round pick who we were sold on he is a past catcher.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_02]: He has elite hands way to you see him.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_02]: He's a mismatch nightmare.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like we've saw these things.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_02]: So when we talk about the receivers, we can't forget about the targets that are going to be allocated to Dalton,
- 14:05[SPEAKER_02]: The bills offense, and I know that I took this way off track, like I always do, but the bills offense, I don't think is ever going to be the way that people envision it to be.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_02]: Just because you have Josh Allen who can throw for four to eight hundred yards and all these touchdowns and stuff, I don't think that's
- 14:22[SPEAKER_02]: what the bills are.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like I said it last week.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like the bills are more controlled offense.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that that brand and I don't think brand and being purposely ignores the wide receiver position.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_02]: He looks at what Joe Brady does with his wide receivers and he got suitable guys.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's why you pay current a Samuel eight million a year.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's why you pay Joshua Palmer nine million a year.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_02]: You don't break the bank for these guys.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_02]: So with Keyon, it's going to be tough because like you said, I think if he has forty five fifty receptions six seven hundred yards, punch touchdowns, you know five six I think that's I think that's okay as long as he's being productive helping the bills win football games and making moments.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_02]: Now I say that to say this.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_02]: Do the bills and this is not a key in Coleman thing.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: This is a at the end of the game.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_02]: The last
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: thing we saw with the bill's offense is Dalton can K drop in a pass, a Murray Cooper falling on a route, running a screenplay, first gear that Josh didn't even have a chance to look because he had pressure in his face, do we have a guy that we need to take over a drive?
- 15:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like we had what Stefan digs minus the postseason for the most part.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_02]: Do we have that guy?
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's the only thing that concerns me is that we get to
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: the Ravens.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_02]: We get to, you know, the chiefs, whatever it is, when everybody's good, do we have that guy?
- 15:49[SPEAKER_02]: Who's going to be that guy?
- 15:50[SPEAKER_02]: Can we play?
- 15:51[SPEAKER_02]: I guess this is my question.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: Can we play that same style of football in expect different results this year?
- 15:59[SPEAKER_02]: That's my question.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I'm hopefully I answered a question when I say my, my sentiments, right?
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now, it's not just about key on Coleman progression, right?
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: He has to progress.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: We all know going into year two.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: We want to progression of, of Kalisha Kier.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: We think we have, he has wanted to think.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_00]: We want Joshua Palmer to break out and progress further than he's, he did with the Los Angeles Chargers.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think Joe Brady is a guy that has to progress as well.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_00]: He's only, he's a thirty-five year old offensive coordinator and I've seen some reports where they was working on the intermediate and the long passing game within the offense in training camp and I think that's going to have to be worked on and I think that's that's an area of progression where Joe Brady has to get better.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about
- 16:49[SPEAKER_00]: Are we going to have any receivers that's going to eclipse a thousand yards this year?
- 16:53[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I do think it's possible if Joe Brady can progress as an office a play caller in the intermediate in the long passing game as far as the Buffalo bills receivers you spoke about each one possibly catching three passes a game.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think they have a set of receivers
- 17:10[SPEAKER_00]: kind of like the Indiana Paces, right?
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: We saw the Indiana Paces in the finals this year.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: What made the Indiana Paces good and why they went so far is because they had a multitude of players that can give you twenty twenty five points a night.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's what the Buffalo bills are as a receiving group.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: They have a player where one week, you get eight receptions, a hundred yards.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_00]: You have another week where he on Coleman could be the guy.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: You have another week where Joshua Palmer could be the guy.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_00]: You could have another week where Dalton can Kate can be the guy.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the Buffalo bills have our number of guys that can go off on any given week, probably not consistent every week.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_00]: But any given week a guy can be that guy that particular week.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's it's a multitude of our combination of player progression along with Joe Brady progressing as a offensive coordinator as well.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: And if we can have that, then I think the Buffalo bills will be fine.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we're going to we're going to probably break down more of the offense here as the offices and progresses here.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: I just a lot of the talk that I've heard is is about how.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_02]: How was this offense going to be sustainable from last year?
- 18:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I think if you look and you really break down what the bills did for Josh Allen, that's why the turnover was came down.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_02]: It was more controlled, let things happen.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_02]: You got the three running backs that you can rotate in out.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: You got guys that are just willing to block.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: You got guys, wider severs that are just willing to run routes because they're supposed to run routes.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, it's nice.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's nice to have a controlled offense, but it's also nice to see a quarterback that can put up, four to eight hundred yards and four to five touchdown passes and things like that.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't, I said it last week.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that's going to happen with Josh under Joe Brady.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_02]: They could bring another offensive coordinator in because I firmly believe Joe Brady is probably, if the bills have
- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: pretty close to or the same success that they had this year and who knows what happens in the postseason if they they win the Super Bowl.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_02]: He's definitely gone.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_02]: So then we're going to start all over again with a new offensive system and then we'll see if everyone eats thing kind of carries over.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: So let's let's transition into some things that actually did happen at training camp.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's talking about D on Walker and
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, Ian Walker.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, some came across my phone.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: Ian Walker and TJ Sanders.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: First, the team, how did you feel about the picks when they happened?
- 19:52[SPEAKER_02]: And how do you feel now seeing that these guys are making somewhat of an impact on what's happened in defense of mine?
- 19:59[SPEAKER_02]: I know it's three days of training camp.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_02]: They're practicing against their own players.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_02]: They don't even have pads until next week.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: I get all that.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: But how do you feel seeing the amount of a mandian walker and hearing all of the glowing compliments that TJ Sanders is getting, especially from Ed Island?
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: How do you feel?
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: Um, it's, it's, it sounds good, you know, and of course you feel confident.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: You feel great about the news that you're here with with the young, with the young players and Dianne walkin' in and TJ Sand is looking good thus far in camp.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I don't really, again, you know, everybody's different.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: I don't get overly excited with no parents on, but it's good to hear good results thus far.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's good to hear that Dianne walkin' doesn't have no limitations coming into camp because he's had that back.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: He has back issues.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so it's good to hear.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_00]: He hasn't had no limitations.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_00]: And when you see the film on him and you see him in training camp, you see a mountain of a man that that moves like, uh, the almost almost like a linebacker, the way he moves his feet and the way he's able to bend the corner and just the way he's up.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, as I had the Oliver were called it, a dancing bear as a defensive lineman.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: So that's great to see because I think he can be a weapon if he could stay healthy and if he gets get, keep his pat level low consistently.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: I believe he can be a force and can be a weapon along the Buffalo Bill's defensive line and TJ Sanders is a guy that the Buffalo Bill's traded up to get so they are definitely high on him and thus far he's been equally impressive if not the most impressive rookie defensive line in the Buffalo Bill's do have thus far so
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: I like what I see with the young rookies.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's going to be pivotal that if not both at least one of them can make immediate impact because we do have some suspensions and women.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: We do have Larry Ogonjobe.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's not going to be their six games.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_00]: We do have Michael Hoyt.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_00]: That's not going to be their six games.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_00]: So we can have these young guys, these young rookies.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_00]: make immediate impacts sooner rather than later, it would definitely be beneficial for the Buffalo Bill squad as the season progressed.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I love what I'm seeing thus far.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully we can see land in Jackson sometime soon, get him in the equation, get him in the mix.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_00]: But I like what the Buffalo Bill's did on the defensive side of the ball and hopefully it does pan out so far as good results.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, apparently TJ Sanders has been fantastic.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I feel like for what Brandon being did to get gold get him.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be nice to see.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be hard to imagine him lining up a ton with that Oliver just because of the size of the middle of the line.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_02]: If the bill's want to really focus on the run defense.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see if he's going to be more of a third down guy.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_02]: But that's what pre-season is for, right?
- 22:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, a few weeks away from pre-season.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm super excited.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: What do you make about the AJPNS and Jackson Haas
- 22:54[SPEAKER_02]: situation where apparently I don't know what Jackson was did, but he's an old school football player and he, AJ happiness apparently just punched him in the face and Jackson caused laughed and walked away.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like we started a conversation before we came alive and I think you were taken off guard when I was talking about we need more dudes on this on this roster, right?
- 23:16[SPEAKER_02]: We need more guys on this roster.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: How do you feel about that situation and how do you feel about
- 23:22[SPEAKER_02]: do the bills need more.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to say swag, but just those guys that show up and they know that they're going to kick your ass.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_02]: And there's nothing you can do about it because they're good at it.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_02]: How do you feel like what those two things?
- 23:34[SPEAKER_00]: I feel as absolutely necessary, man.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_00]: First of all, it shows that it shows a competitive nature.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_00]: You want to see that competitive nature.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_00]: You want to see guys battling it in the trenches and sometimes it's training camp.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably hot.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of emotions and a lot of high energy running everybody's out to prove themselves.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: Once again, AJ Eponessa Spot is not safe.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_00]: Jackson Haws is a young rookie looking to make impact on the team and make the team.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's great for a competitive nature.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_00]: Still sharp and still.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_00]: So I love what I've seen there.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that Jackson Haws is just
- 24:15[SPEAKER_00]: just have that mean streak that I think the buffalo bills haven't had in some time.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_00]: And because he has that mean streak and because he's a guy that enjoys doing the dirty work, I think he can carve out a niche early on, even as possibly a third tight end.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think he could come into some packages, especially run packages where he can line up and put some guys in the dirt.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I like what I've seen from the physical aspect from both AJP and Jackson Halls and I like the
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: And I like what I can, what I see from Jackson Halls in terms of just being a brute force out there.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think we had a nasty, mean streak of a guy since probably Richie and Cognito was probably the nasty guy the last nasty guy the Buffalo Bill has had and I think that's necessary on every football team and hopefully Jackson Halls can bring that elements to the roster.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_02]: I like it.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_02]: The whole Jackson Hall thing, I brought up this because I am extremely intrigued.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: And this wasn't on our show notes.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_02]: This is me going flying off the cuff.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm extremely intrigued to see what that means for Alec Anderson.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_02]: because I feel like Jackson Haas was touted as this phenomenal blocking tight end.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_02]: That's why the bills took him when they did.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_02]: But how many times last year did the bills roll out Alec Anderson as the six blocking offensive linemen in all those schemes that they'd run on offense, the zone schemes and all that stuff?
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: What does it mean for Alec Anderson?
- 25:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I, it's more of a two part question because I know that the bills
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: have David Edwards who's coming up on a contract and kind of recovering, who's also coming up on a contract.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_02]: Is there a way for Alec Anderson to be slid back?
- 26:00[SPEAKER_02]: in a role that's not as much as what he was last year, maybe as the season progresses in Jackson Halls gets more reps and more playing time.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: Because I feel like this was a proactive move by Brandon Bean to go get a tight end because he's not taking past catching reps away from Dalton to Kate or Dawson Knox.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't think that's happening.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_02]: The trust that they have in those guys is already there.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_02]: So does this mean that Alec Anderson
- 26:27[SPEAKER_02]: gets less reps.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_02]: They haven't extended David Edwards or Conner McGovern yet.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_02]: They drafted Cedric Van Pan Granger to be the center.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_02]: So it's a weird, it don't you think that's kind of a weird dynamic.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_02]: I know Jackson Hall is going to be in there to do a lot of what Alec Anderson does.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_02]: What's your thoughts on that at all?
- 26:46[SPEAKER_02]: If you haven't even thought about that yet.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_00]: No, you know, I think that's an excellent point.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, with David Edwards and kind of a govern contract, both coming up sooner rather than later, is definitely possible that they could be looking at Alex Anderson as a possible replacement for a guy like David Edwards.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: I really like kind of a govern.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_00]: I would like, you know, for the Buffalo bills to see if they can extend him for some time.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: He's still about twenty, twenty years old.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe twenty eight years old?
- 27:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I believe he definitely has a lease of four-year contract left in him and I just like the camaraderie between, you know, center and quarterback.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really like to mess that up too much.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_00]: But again, SVP was drafted for a reason as well.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see what happens there.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's going to be ultimately up to how Jackson Halls performs.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_00]: If he can perform like he can handle the role then he will be possibly put in that role and that's where decisions we have to be made.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see what happens in training camp and we'll see how Jackson Halls can continue to produce some progress as a black and tight end.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_00]: And if that happens where he progresses nicely, I think that the Buffalo Bill is that staff is going to have some difficult decisions to make in the future.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I just I hadn't seen a lot of folks talking about that in the bills the bills community.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_02]: So I just I thought about it.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_02]: when that whole thing happened with AJ happiness and I'm like man, I don't think anybody's really talked about the fact that he's probably been drafted to take snaps away from Alec Anderson.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_02]: So what's the plan?
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: So let me actually, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: I apologize for shifting gears back to the defensive side of the bull, but ever since you brought up Jackson Halls and Alec Anderson, it makes me think about the defensive line group with Dion Walker and TJ Sanders is Ed Oliver's future.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_00]: and doubt in the Buffalo Bill's uniform sooner rather than later because of the influx of defensive lime in that the Buffalo Bill's drafted or do you think that they was just a bad air run defense last year, bad in their run fist and they just trying to get guys to be better and be more profound in that in that department?
- 29:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think so when TJ Sanders was drafted,
- 29:04[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of the bills fans were up in arms because he wasn't that big body guy that they ultimately got in D.N.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: Walker a couple runs later, right?
- 29:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I said, this could potentially be Ed Oliver's replacement, very similar physical size, very similar, similar physical play.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_02]: But I also think that Brandon being doesn't ever stop thinking about the future.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: He knows at some point
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: whether it's next year, twenty seven, twenty eight.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to need another guy that's needs to be at Oliver.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_02]: So with that being said, I also think that Oliver needs to have one hell of a season because he got paid had a good season last year.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about it last week.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_02]: He was okay.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like he's a good defensive tackle.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_02]: He's not someone you're going to build highlight packages around.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_02]: He's he's good.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_02]: I think that there's a log gym at defensive tackle.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think that Dequan Jones
- 30:07[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I don't know if he'll make it to the regular season.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I know that with these suspensions, it kind of throws a weird, like monkey wrench into things because Ogon Joby from what everybody said has looked good.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_02]: Um, in the three days of camp, and then he got Michael Hoyt, who kind of goes out.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_02]: He works all over the place like a Swiss army knife.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_02]: I just, it's going to be hard to tell.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think at Oliver's days are numbered.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_02]: No, because I think that Sean McDermott loves at Oliver.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_02]: I think Brandon being loved at Oliver.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that they understand what his role is.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: And we talked a little bit last week about putting that one tech next to him.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_02]: And when Dequan Jones was playing well, the season at Oliver had nine and a half sacks.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_02]: It was because both of them played really well together.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_02]: And then whoever they brought in at rotation at the one tech at Oliver just fed off of that.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see, I think that if we, like you said last week, if we can get a guy that is a solid one tech that can play, you know, in the rotation and get the snaps and help in the run defense, I think on passing down, as you'll see, the two years ago at Oliver from, in the year, that was creating, I don't know, I think he had fifty something pressures that year and he, he would, nine and a half sacks and he was doing all that.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know if that answered your question, but I,
- 31:30[SPEAKER_02]: I got a lot of shit for saying that I thought that TJ Sanders could possibly be at Oliver's replacement.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't mean that I don't want that out of the team.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: I just think that I have a weird stance on the defensive line because I'm not, I'm not a stat nerd to a point where I have to look at
- 31:50[SPEAKER_02]: how the bills played for three in say we need an edge, a one tech, a three tech and an edge.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think if we have four guys on the front that can stop the run and can create
- 32:03[SPEAKER_02]: pressure and collapse pockets.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_02]: However, they want to do that.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care what the guy looks like.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_02]: And I get so much shit from the purist by saying that.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I think, you know, Lance Nelson, who I see is in the chat, he's always said it's positionless to me.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_02]: The defensive line can be positionless football.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_02]: If you have guys that can win up front, I don't care if they're four hundred pounds or they're two hundred and seventy pounds.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_02]: I really, I don't care.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_02]: as long as they win and they help this team get better.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that you saw that with with the TJ Sanders because you you trade it up in the second round and everybody thought, okay, here comes a three tech.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_02]: Here comes a big a big boy.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_02]: And then they went with TJ Sanders.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know that's that's my spin on and I don't I don't know if I helped my argument there.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_02]: No, you know, but
- 32:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm kind of a greens here with Kenneth.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_00]: I believe the bills directly TJ because they don't plan on keeping it out of our app and his contract is up.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I know, and all of it does have a few years, but like you said, you know, being as always looking into the future.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I think, you know, the future is could be possibly be, of course, we got to see these players perform, could possibly be TJ Sanders.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_00]: I want to get your thoughts on one more thing and then you can carry back.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_00]: You could carry back the show.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's our show.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's our show.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_00]: That facts.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like a dancing bear.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like Dianne Walker going back and forth from offensive defense, but you got to gain like two hundred some pounds.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_00]: Going back, going back to the offensive side of the ball, a guy that we have probably haven't mentioned very much as an offensive lineman.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_00]: I noticed you mentioned Alec Anderson.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_00]: A guy that I'm a big fan of is the big man out of UCF, Tyler and Grable.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_00]: And Spencer Brown has been out for this camp thus far.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_00]: And Talon Grable has been the guy to pick up the slack.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he's shown some versatility.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen some highlights even when in college.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_00]: He's just a violent player and violent with his hands.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the buffalo bills may have something with Talon Grable here.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm excited.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm buying stock.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_00]: on Tallinn Graywell as a guy that's not talked about much, but then he can show a vast amount of progression in year two.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_00]: I want to, do you have any thoughts on Tallinn Graywell on offensive line and where he fits?
- 34:35[SPEAKER_00]: I know we have two staples that right in left tackle, but we should thoughts on Tallinn Graywell.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_02]: I know that he wasn't a guy that was talked about a lot last year, but he made the roster as rookie and the bills
- 34:47[SPEAKER_02]: brought him they brought him in because like you said being like those guys that you can he can kind of mold a little bit.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_02]: Spencer Brown for like you just mentioned he.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_02]: After his first year a lot of us were like what do we got here like he's injury prone he's a big dude but he's getting beat a lot.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think that Grable is.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_02]: Being loves Grable I know I know.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_02]: He's talked endless about how impactful he believes he can be.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_02]: Not only running with the second team, but I feel like
- 35:20[SPEAKER_02]: We have too much of a good thing on the offensive line.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_02]: They got ten guys coming back.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_02]: That's unheard of in the in today's NFL that is unheard of.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_02]: All five starters, all five replacements all coming back.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_02]: So now again, we talk about being planning for the future.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_02]: Now Spencer Brown's not going anywhere.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_02]: They just paid them, right?
- 35:41[SPEAKER_02]: So again, how long is DM Dawkins going to be here for?
- 35:45[SPEAKER_02]: Is he going to be here, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_02]: This is Deans ninth season.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people don't don't think about that.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_02]: This is Deans ninth season already.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_02]: As far as flexibility, I'm not sure exactly where Grable can line up on the offensive on the offensive line if you can move into the guard spots.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_02]: So, but I do know that being in McDermott, both like him.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_02]: They've talked heavily about him, even last off season coming into his rookie season.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_02]: They were talking about him.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_02]: And whenever you read anything about OTAs, mini camp, mandatory camp, practices, you know, preseason, a lot of the bills media people will talk about how good gravell is and about how he
- 36:30[SPEAKER_02]: you know, should be starting at right tackle if Spencer Brown is out instead of Ryan Vendomark or one of these other guys, right?
- 36:36[SPEAKER_02]: So it's it's interesting and and I think he could he could have a spot here dependent on his ability to be flexible on the offensive line seen what what we just talked about
- 36:49[SPEAKER_02]: with David Edwards with kind of a governor not saying he's going to play centered but if you got to move somebody there there's a position that opens up somewhere else so I like him I think he's one of those guys that
- 37:02[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't get talked about ever, but he's always someone that you hear really good things about.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_02]: And the bills media, us included, like we don't ever really talk about him and kind of prop them up and give them the flowers that he deserves.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_02]: But I heard he's he's pushing camp and he's he's taking all the starting reps and I heard nothing but good thing.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_02]: So hopefully that's
- 37:22[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully it's not something serious for Spencer Brown, but the bills like I just alluded to are in a good spot with offensive line.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I feel like in the past when they've had a spell of somebody out, it's been a seamless, almost seamless transition.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_02]: All right, where you want to go next, you want to talk about corners?
- 37:44[SPEAKER_02]: CB-II?
- 37:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, let's go ahead and let's go ahead and talk corners.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_00]: Another fascinating discussion there.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_02]: So first and foremost, how did you feel about watching, did you, did you watch the entire trade-avius white press conference?
- 38:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'll quote bits and pieces of the press conference.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_02]: Do you ever remember a time where a trade-avius white just randomly keeps dropping the F, the F bomb throughout press conferences?
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: No, actually not.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_02]: Is it weird?
- 38:15[SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to figure out if it's weird or if he's somehow in the last year going to Baltimore and LA, he came back here, he realizes where he's at, and his career like he's just like fuck it.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what he was saying all over that first conference.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 38:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and not only that, I think you know what your debut is white.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_00]: uh he's he's coming in with more of a chip on his shoulder you know the last time we saw today is white he was looking back at the ground like somebody trip to him and you know that was his Achilles and you know he's had major injuries for the buffalo bills and back to back seasons with the ACL and then with the Achilles and then he came back and he has some struggles
- 38:55[SPEAKER_00]: going from the Rams to the Baltimore Ravens.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the mental hurdle is cleared.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think your Davis White was his best on the football field, but it was great for your Davis White mental to be on the football field last year.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's going to help in his progression coming back to the bills this year.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_00]: He's cleared that mental hurdle.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_00]: He's had a all season where he can work out and train and not worry about, you know, physical limitations because of injury.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_00]: And now he's back in a comfortable place and the comfortable scheme where he played his best and was all pro in.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he's at, he's at a point where, you know, what?
- 39:34[SPEAKER_00]: I'm the vet now, and I have something to prove.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_00]: I know they drafted Maxwell Harrison back here to be the future, but while I'm here, I'm going to mentor this kid, and I'm going to show this kid why I was once in all pro for the Buffalo bills.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's where Tridavia's at is in his career.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_02]: I am so torn because I'm rooting for Tray because not just what he means for Bill's fans that locker room.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_02]: I know Sean McDermott and Brandon being both have soft spots for him, but like the comeback story would be insane if we get
- 40:09[SPEAKER_02]: really high level play from Trudebys' way.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I'm not saying that that's going to happen.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not trying to read the T leaves and trying to spit out narratives out there, because I want Maxwell Harrison to be the guy.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I think we all do.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like we took, we took him in the first round, but I said it last week, and I'm not saying I'm no stradomas, but I said it last week
- 40:34[SPEAKER_02]: Apparently Dorian Strong has been one of the best if not the best corners in practice for three days.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just it's been reported by multiple outlets.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just throwing it out there.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like I said last week, a key in what happens if we have a six round pick
- 40:51[SPEAKER_02]: Starting across from a six round pick at corner back like what is that mean for there's a whole bunch just like my brain almost exploded.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not mad at it because let the best guy win us help us win football games.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care if he was a undrafted free agent or for sure on pick.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's more of the story of what's happening with the first round picks and all that stuff.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_02]: So I I
- 41:17[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's been three days.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to ask you this question every single show, even if it doesn't involve this man is trade obvious white CB to first week of the season.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_00]: I believe so.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to ask you every week.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_00]: I believe so, but
- 41:34[SPEAKER_00]: I do really like Dorian Strong.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_00]: I do really like what he's shown.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_00]: I really, I really like his ability.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think he can play some press man.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_00]: I believe he can, I believe he can excel in his own coverage.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I just, you know, just doing some research on Dorian Strong.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_00]: Second corner back in college football since twenty-fourteen with three hundred cover snaps while surrender and fewer than ten receptions and less than a hundred yards receiving it in a season.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_00]: So that goes to show me and it's not like he played for Ayona, you know, he played for, you know, Virginia Tech ACC School and you know, that's one of the top programs in the country.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_00]: So he plays some pretty stiff competition.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I wouldn't be surprised if Dorian's strong can definitely carve out a role here.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_00]: And if that's the case,
- 42:23[SPEAKER_00]: DM three, let me do your rebutto.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_00]: We spoke, we speak about certain guys being safe or possibly being on a, being a cut candidate like, you know, a day-quying Jones or our, our AJ Pinesa.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_00]: With the emergence or possible emergence, we'll see what happens with the pads when the pads come on of Dorian Strong is danger Jackson safe for the Buffalo Bill as a corner on the roster.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think Dane Jackson was saved after the draft concluded.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_02]: I think what?
- 42:57[SPEAKER_02]: So ultimately, what I think Tridavius White and Dane Jackson were obviously they signed in reverse.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_02]: Dane Jackson first and then trade.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like that wasn't insurance policy in case whatever happened in the draft didn't happen.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_02]: They drafted three corners.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_02]: So you got Harrison in the first round, you got Dorian Strong, and then you got Hancock, right?
- 43:23[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe you could only get one of those guys dependent on however the draft board falls, and then you have Tridavius White and Dane Jackson.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_02]: Now, Dane Jackson, say what you want about Dane Jackson, he left the bills, he got paid, he got cut, he came back.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_02]: He knows the system.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_02]: This is the same argument that everybody has with me about to my handling.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like say what you want, but if it's a stopgap for a game, a series, you know, whatever a small stretch.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like that's what ultimately Trudev is and Dane, more so Dane was brought in for is like if we're in a pinch, Dane Jackson's played in the system for four years.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_02]: He can go out there and he can cover up some of our shortcomings that we may have if we play it, we have to play a rookie or something like that.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's not up to speed or whatever.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_02]: But I do think that Dane Jackson is probably gonna be the odd man out because I feel like Hancock could also be
- 44:26[SPEAKER_02]: Um, he can be the Cam Lewis type, but cheaper.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_02]: He could play back up nickel.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_02]: He could maybe potentially be a sort of a safety in a hybrid package.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_02]: So, it all depends on who's more flexible.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_02]: Dorian Strong Hancock and Harrison are all obviously all cheaper.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_02]: Even if it's a minimum contract.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_02]: I just, I think that you're, you're, you're probably right.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_02]: He's not, I don't think he's safe.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_02]: And he could be a guy that is on the outside looking in.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_02]: Practice squad, maybe I'm not sure if someone would pick him up.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I don't, I don't think, I don't think he's safe.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_02]: I think tray is a lock, a hundred percent lock.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, Dane Jackson might be a bubble guy for sure.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I may have to concur on it.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_00]: Definitely concur.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_02]: So let's keep with the secondary.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_02]: Let's move on to the safety room.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_02]: I think we can all collectively give a big sigh of relief to the fact that Colby ship seems to be progressing really well in the three days that he's been here because
- 45:33[SPEAKER_02]: before this camp started what we heard was that he was in many camp was that he was he was he was nicked up a little bit dinged up a little bit um obviously we talked last week about Taylor rap he's a he's a
- 45:48[SPEAKER_02]: He's an opportunist when it comes to intersections, which I saw report from Thadbrown this week saying that all three intersections he had in practice yesterday were balls that were throwing right to him.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_02]: So hey, right place right time that works.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_00]: So the question about that right way is is being in the right place at the right time of coincidence or a skill.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_02]: If it happens more times than not, I guess it's a skill, right?
- 46:15[SPEAKER_02]: You put yourself in that position, I guess, right?
- 46:18[SPEAKER_02]: Is that the system or the player, though?
- 46:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'll rebut you with that.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_02]: Is it the system or the player?
- 46:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think, you know, just like a well-oiled relationship is fifty-fifty.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_02]: Come here for Bill Snack and get relationship advice on the team.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_02]: There we go.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk about Cole Bishop.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_02]: because last week we both expressed our concerns with the safety room.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_02]: I've been, I feel like it came since we started Bill's allergy.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_02]: We were talking about what's the planet safety, even when we had Mike and Jordan Poir, like what's the plane after them?
- 47:01[SPEAKER_02]: And now here we are.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_02]: Five years later, four years later, here we are.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_02]: So what is your take on to some of the stuff you've seen about coal bishop?
- 47:11[SPEAKER_02]: How do you feel?
- 47:13[SPEAKER_02]: his importance and what that means to Sean McDermott's defense and where you think he's at.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_02]: And then you can add in Taylor rap and kind of talk about both those guys in the safety positions, what they mean for the bills and kind of where we're at with both of them.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_00]: I love his athletic ability.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think since the Sean McDermard era he's the most athletic safety that the Buffalo Bills had on the roster.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, he's a big kid.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_00]: He's a big physical kid.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_00]: In my opinion, he excels more in the box as a box safety in between making plays in the run game.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_00]: So, I really like
- 47:57[SPEAKER_00]: him as a box safety.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_00]: He's an instinctive kid.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_00]: I have to think he, you know, he fell a little behind last season with injury.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_00]: So this season is going to be a pair of him to stay healthy.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_00]: So he could continue his, his leap of progression that us as fans want to see in him as an individual player.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_00]: So I think he's going to be crucial.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_00]: to the success on the back end for the Buffalo Bill's this season.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think, you know, he was drafted in the second round.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_00]: He was drafted high for the Buffalo Bill's and we all know in the Sean Montgomery defense, the safety is a pivotal role.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_00]: So we definitely going to need him to take that leap in progression in year to my only concern is.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_00]: co-bishop in my opinion, you know, I could let us know in the chat, which I think, I think co-bishop Antila Rapp are a little redundant.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think they both excel better as as boxed safeties.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_00]: And if that's the case, who you're going to put in free safety?
- 48:58[SPEAKER_00]: Who's the better deep thursday guy?
- 49:00[SPEAKER_00]: Who's the better
- 49:02[SPEAKER_00]: a ball-hawking guy that you want playing that free safety position, are they intotangible, like Micahide and Jordan Poir once was, right?
- 49:12[SPEAKER_00]: So that's my only concern, not necessarily with coal bishop as an individual, but the safety tandem with coal bishop in telewrap, who's the deep third safety, who's the box safety, and who excels better where?
- 49:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you touched on that last week.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, what are they?
- 49:31[SPEAKER_02]: Like, who's Taylor Rap?
- 49:32[SPEAKER_02]: What's Colbish?
- 49:33[SPEAKER_02]: Like, they haven't done anything for, like, you just say, like, once the box and once the deep, like, who's, who's what?
- 49:41[SPEAKER_02]: And hopefully they get that figured out in camp and maybe Colbish is athletic enough and intelligent enough.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_02]: I think that he can do that.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_02]: We can't forget about Derek Forest though either.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like, this is a guy who started
- 49:54[SPEAKER_02]: in the NFL.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_02]: He's played games, meaningful games in the NFL.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody's talking about him.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_02]: They're always talking about tomorrow.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_02]: Him because I said last week, I don't want there to be a world in this championship window that we are in.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_02]: We're Brandon Bean.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_02]: by what he did defensively, he said, all right, this is what I'm doing to fix this team.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_02]: We have lost every year because of our defense in the postseason.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm fixing that.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to go into this season with all the expectations coming off of an MVP season from Josh Allen, having all the expectations to try to finally get that number one seed that has alluded, Sean McDermott, the number one seed in the AFC.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_02]: with Demar Hamlin starting next to Taylor rap or Colby Shep, either way, whatever happens.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not comfortable, I saw too many times last year, not a knock on Demar Hamlin.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_02]: The guy knows the system when he stepped in to play for injury spells, he's been admirable, he's done his job.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't want it to be, it's his job because he earned it or because
- 51:04[SPEAKER_02]: Cole Bishop didn't earn it.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_02]: That would be a bigger indictment on Brandon Bean, I think.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_02]: If Cole Bishop doesn't go out there and earn it and he's the clear cut starter next to Taylor rap, there's an issue.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_02]: We have an issue that we that that could long term for the season and beyond the season be an issue at the safety position.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 51:25[SPEAKER_02]: All things are pointing in the right direction.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_02]: Again, no pads have been put on.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_02]: They're playing basically flag football with each other at practice.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_02]: I get that, but all all systems go as far as he's training in the right direction.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_02]: In Taylor rap, we all know it's going to start.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_02]: He's a guy that the bills love.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_02]: Sean McDermott loves and they they just like who he is in that system.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 51:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I like it.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I see some some dark force in the comments.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see what he's able to bring as well with his list, you know, like you just said, we can't ignore him.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_00]: He did start eleven games for our belief of the commanders just a couple of years ago.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_00]: So where does he fit the equation?
- 52:05[SPEAKER_00]: And the more hamlin, you know, he took about another guy, you know, he's not the best athlete.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_00]: He's not the best player.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_00]: So to speak, obviously, right?
- 52:18[SPEAKER_00]: You know, is there an argument that can be made that he's possibly the best free safety on the team?
- 52:24[SPEAKER_00]: And if he is, is that concerning?
- 52:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I've said it for two years.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_02]: We came out.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_02]: We did a show last year when we were breaking down the fifty three and we said to my homelands, you're going to start in safety.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know how I feel about that.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't nothing in twelve months has changed.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's
- 52:44[SPEAKER_02]: concerning, he's not a guy that you want, look, we were spoiled with with high employer, like we were spoiled, like they were interchangeable, like you said previous, like they were so good and they fit what McDermott wanted to do like to the tea.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_02]: And when they weren't there, when they were still playing normally and they were on the team, like when they weren't there, it was noticeable there was a drop off.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_02]: Now, Hamlin came in
- 53:09[SPEAKER_02]: When Hyde initially injured his neck, he played the rest of that season.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_02]: Didn't seem to be a massive drop off, but last year he got picked on.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_02]: He got picked on.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_02]: You could tell that it was not Michael Hyder Jordan Boyer back there.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_02]: I just really hope that Cole Bishop is the guy that we need him to be, not just for this year, but this sets us back at the position for next year and beyond.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_02]: So let's hope.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to, I don't want to go into the, the O shit future is falling at the safety position until we, we see what we got.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_02]: There was some promise at the end of last year.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he played, he played admirably down the stretch.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's talk about Joe and Jason.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_02]: because I feel like this guy's gonna be all over hard knocks.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like it's gonna be a huge thing.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_02]: Bobby Babich made some really nice comments about Joanne Driesen.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_02]: He said he's not Buffalo, Joanne Moore.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_02]: He's just Joanne Driesen, the football player.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_02]: So let me ask you a question.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_02]: We have Matt Milano as our starting middle linebacker.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_02]: Our starting weak side linebacker, sorry.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_02]: Our starting weak side linebacker.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_02]: If he goes down, who's his backup?
- 54:32[SPEAKER_00]: The first name of the top of my head, because of the last couple of years, I would think would be Dorian Williams.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_00]: I would think, one would think.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_02]: So, what about Joe Anderson?
- 54:49[SPEAKER_02]: Where does he fit into the back of Fur Bernard Milano equation?
- 54:53[SPEAKER_02]: Because who else is there besides Dorian Williams?
- 54:56[SPEAKER_02]: Bale Inspector, who's on his fourth year?
- 55:01[SPEAKER_02]: Angered a lot, and then they checked Thompson.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_02]: There's no one else.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_00]: There's no one else.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's no one else.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think Joe and Jason is the immediate backup.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, like you said, you have been a specter who plays who plays solid at times when he can stay on the field, but his problem is staying on the field.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he's had that problem throughout the course of his career.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think Joanne Driesen is the immediate backup right now to to Robonard.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's carved out a role where, you know, it's almost like he's a lock on the team right now.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_00]: In my opinion, as the backup linebacker, the immediate backup to, to Bernard.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I could take it a step further.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_00]: He's he's versatile enough to play that weak side linebacker spot as well.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_00]: So I, you know, I really like Buffalo Joanne Driesen.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_00]: The buffalo bills their staff.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_00]: They just do an excellent job finding these type of players where they have success in the late round.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_00]: So if Joe and Dreson is that guy like I like I seeing that he is thus far and I expect them to be I think Joe and Dreson is going to come out and preseason and once again turn some heads.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_00]: So I think Bobby Babish is a hundred percent right.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_00]: He is now just Joe and Dreson a no longer buffalo gym.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_01]: What about Ullifoshio?
- 56:24[SPEAKER_01]: We always forget about Ullifoshio.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think that, you know, everybody can't make it.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_00]: And, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and
- 56:57[SPEAKER_00]: they didn't draft him for no reason.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_00]: We just haven't seen the investment of flourish yet, uh, at least from him.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm he's one of those guys that I'm excited to see come preseason and win the past going.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_02]: Everything is just predicated on the fact that we we have to hope Matt Molano can play a full season.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_02]: It solves, it solves everything like playing.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_02]: Without a full mat Milano, I understand he's getting older, the injuries have kind of gotten to him.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_02]: But still, I've said this a thousand times, seventy five percent of Matt Milano is the best weekside lineback of the bills can have.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_02]: That's on the currently on the roster.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_02]: Dorian Williams is going to be good.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_02]: Don't get me wrong.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_02]: Dorian Williams is the most athletic player they have on the team, but he can't do the stuff that a healthy mat Milano can.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_02]: He just can't.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_02]: So all this is based off of
- 57:55[SPEAKER_02]: What they did last year before in the off season, to build the linebacker room, it all came back to Dorian Williams.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_02]: in Terrell Bernard.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_02]: They added all those guys last year and then during the season, they were either released, didn't see playing time put on the practice squad and it came back to the same three guys.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_02]: It was Terrell Bernard, Matt Milano, and Dorian Williams.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_02]: Those were the three guys last year that got the huge chunk of the playing time and some bail inspector when he wasn't when he wasn't injured.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_00]: I almost look at Matt Malado in the same realm as I look at with Joey Bosa.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_00]: I would love Matt Malado to stay away from the significant injury, the season ending type injuries.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_00]: Stay relatively healthy throughout the course of the season and be healthy at the most important times.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_00]: If we can have Matt Mulano healthy at the most important times December, January, hopefully February, I think that's that's the difference there.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_00]: Long with Joey Bosa who I think we should get into in a minute as well.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_00]: We got to have those guys healthy at the most important times because Doria Williams is a solid player, but he's he's the
- 59:12[SPEAKER_00]: Preston Brown kind of linebacker.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to make, he's going to make the play, but he's not going to make that splash play.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_00]: He's not going to make or having thus far at least the game changing splash play.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to make those tackles.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_00]: He may even lead the league or be one of the NFL league leaders in tackles, but he's not the difference making tight player on the defensive side of the ball like a Matt Milano is.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I think we're going to need that.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_00]: late in the season.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_02]: I agree and that's a perfect segue because Joey Bosa was next on our show notes.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_02]: You brought up some some really good points about Joey Bosa.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_02]: I I loved watching
- 59:57[SPEAKER_02]: him do his warm ups and his stuff at practice.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_02]: You could tell he doesn't need any of that stuff.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_02]: You could tell it's just so fluid watching him.
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_02]: He's done it for so long.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_02]: He's so good at it.
- 1:00:08[SPEAKER_02]: He's so athletic when he's when he's right.
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_02]: He's so athletic.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_02]: So to me, I think
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be it's going to be hard for Bobby Babish and Sean McDermott to kind of put him now.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_02]: They've said he's a three down defense event.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think he's at that stage in his career anymore where he's going to be playing three downs, but they're going to be without white nook and joe.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_02]: So they're going to have to be moving moving guys in and out.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe he is maybe he isn't
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_02]: getting nicked up and OTAs kind of has me skeptical about he's maybe he's going to be a third down kind of mercenary guy out there.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see though it's going to be really something to watch them kind of leverage this whole suspension angle because I believe they can practice with the team up to two weeks before the season starts and then they have to be gone for four weeks.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_02]: and then they can come back two weeks before the suspension and then we have a buy week.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_02]: So we're going to be seven weeks without two guys on the field getting game reps that you have to have other guys get up to speed and play because those guys aren't going to play while getting those guys that are suspended making sure that they're still in the know of what's going on.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_02]: All while trying to keep guys like Joey Bosa
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_02]: fresh and ready to go.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know, what's your, I guess what's your expectations from Joey Bosa?
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_02]: And I mean, before we get into that, we could talk about his comments talking about the six weeks he spent in Buffalo since he got here was he spent more time with teammates than he had in his entire career with the chargers, which I thought was kind of telling.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if he's throwing shots or if the culture in Buffalo is just that good, which he could be.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we've heard
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_02]: countless stories about how the bill's locker was just different.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_02]: And Sean McDermott just leads his team differently.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_02]: So once you're overall thoughts on Joey Bosa, the outlook, we didn't really get to talk.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously when he was signed back in March and heavily touched upon it too much up to this point.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_00]: I do believe Joey Bosa in terms of the culture.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_00]: I believe in the Buffalo Bills culture.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that it's a shock at his previous employer with the Los Angeles charges.
- 1:02:38[SPEAKER_00]: I just believe that, you know, the Buffalo city.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's not too many distractions out there.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the Buffalo Bills just have those type of guys, those high character guys, those guys that you want to build around.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_00]: and have the camaraderie with.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_00]: I just think that culture has been.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_00]: cemented with the Buffalo Bill since Brandon being in Sean McDermott came to say came to high marks stadium when Bill's drive.
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I believe Joey both of there in terms of Joey both of the player, you know, it's a Seventeen game season now.
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_00]: Three years, Seventeen games, that's fifty one games out of fifty one games in the last three years.
- 1:03:22[SPEAKER_00]: Joey both has made eighteen stars.
- 1:03:25[SPEAKER_00]: So I understand when when I believe Bobby Baptist say he's a three down player.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_00]: He has three down ability.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_00]: He's he has three down talent.
- 1:03:36[SPEAKER_00]: But he is not a guy that you want to risk having out there all game long.
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think at this point of Joey Bosa's career, I have to label him a down and distance player.
- 1:03:49[SPEAKER_00]: I believe the perfect world you would probably have a guy like
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_00]: Michael Hoyt playing defensive end on first down playing those run fits on first down and I believe if you know if it's a second and thirteen second and fourteen then you will go ahead and rotate a joy bosa in definitely on third down situations third down obvious pass in situations you will have a joy bosa in and those are the those that is the reason the Buffalo Bill signed him we didn't sign joy bosa the signed to stop the run
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_00]: We have specific plans for the people we signed.
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_00]: We signed Larry out Oganjoby because he is better as a four three defensive tackle and he has past rush ability and we signed him to be in those past restituations.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_00]: We signed Michael Hoyt not to get after the quarterback.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be nice if he do when he's in, but we signed him because we struggled
- 1:04:45[SPEAKER_00]: as a run defense and we want to implement him in our run defense of fits and we hope he can improve.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_00]: We sign Joey Bosa to get after the quarterback.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_00]: We sign Joey Bosa because we've seen Patrick Mahomes run around crazy the last four years, getting these yards and being a headache and being a thorn to our side because we couldn't provide that past Russian presence in those big, meaningful games.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_00]: That is why we sign Joey Bosa and
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_00]: The goal here, the overall goal here, is just like Matt Milano, keep him healthy by all the counts.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_00]: We don't want him in there on first and five.
- 1:05:26[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to let our best run defenders play that role.
- 1:05:32[SPEAKER_00]: implement Joey Bosa or second and fifteen or third and third team in the most important points of the game where we need him to be a difference maker and in order for him to do that, he has to be healthy and if he can be healthy, I think the Buffalo Bills will take
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_00]: Joey Bosa, what James Cook played about, forty-five percent of the snaps last season for the Buffalo Bills and he was a pro-bola and he was a thousand-year-art russia and he has sixteen touchdowns.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_00]: Well, if we could have Joey Bosa healthy for forty-five percent of the snaps, hopefully he can get us eight to twelve sacks and be a productive player because if he's healthy, I think that screens production and that's the goal for the Bills.
- 1:06:13[SPEAKER_00]: Don't get me started on James Cook.
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_02]: When we're paying both the fourteen million dollars, and he, he's going to play forty percent of this next.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_02]: Don't get me started on the head.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_02]: No, I know.
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_02]: That's different.
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's different.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_02]: I get it.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_02]: Relax everybody.
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 1:06:29[SPEAKER_02]: So we touched on the offense with Kian Coleman.
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_02]: We touched on the defensive line.
- 1:06:33[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about the DBs with the corners and safeties.
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about Joe and Jason.
- 1:06:38[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about Joey Bosa.
- 1:06:41[SPEAKER_02]: Anything else that you want to talk about?
- 1:06:42[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we've got a few minutes.
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_02]: Is there anything?
- 1:06:45[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get notes.
- 1:06:47[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get some, if we got some good comments in there, let's get some decent comments and maybe we could do a rapid fire, maybe you could answer one, I can answer one, or we both could answer the same question.
- 1:06:57[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get kind of Jackson's question up there.
- 1:06:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a pretty good one.
- 1:07:03[SPEAKER_02]: You guys believe we will finally improve on third-down stops.
- 1:07:07[SPEAKER_02]: We have been having this issue since Sean McDermott took over.
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_02]: That's like for eight years.
- 1:07:16[SPEAKER_02]: I came.
- 1:07:17[SPEAKER_02]: How many conversations have we had about do what got you hired?
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_02]: You're a defensive
- 1:07:23[SPEAKER_02]: quote unquote guru.
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_02]: Why have we never been able to stop the run?
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_02]: Now, this could open up a huge can of worms for me.
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_02]: Like my brain is already firing in forty seven different directions.
- 1:07:37[SPEAKER_02]: Because we sort of talked about it last week.
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't really elaborate on it.
- 1:07:40[SPEAKER_02]: Is this a McDermott issue or is this a bean issue with the talent that has been given to McDermott?
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_02]: or is it just his scheme is just like, all right, like, all right, hold on.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_02]: Because we talked about the COVID season, we talked about the chief scheme, right, McDermott said, I'm gonna let you run on us all you want because we can't stop Kelsey and Tyree Hill.
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_02]: So we're gonna let you just run all over us.
- 1:08:08[SPEAKER_02]: I felt like that was honestly a BS answer.
- 1:08:12[SPEAKER_02]: I felt like that was a BS game plan and it obviously failed miserably.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_02]: So it's been but don't break.
- 1:08:21[SPEAKER_02]: a system with all its eleven parts to just allow teams.
- 1:08:27[SPEAKER_02]: Now obviously you don't want teams to run on you.
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_02]: You don't.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_02]: You don't.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_02]: You want to be able to stop the run.
- 1:08:31[SPEAKER_02]: But have the bills been system lat systematically built on defense to not be able to stop the run.
- 1:08:38[SPEAKER_02]: Is it the sum of all parts?
- 1:08:40[SPEAKER_02]: Is it the players in place?
- 1:08:41[SPEAKER_02]: Is it the scheme?
- 1:08:43[SPEAKER_02]: What is it?
- 1:08:44[SPEAKER_02]: Help make it make sense.
- 1:08:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a scheme.
- 1:08:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's like even even this year, right?
- 1:08:50[SPEAKER_00]: We was clamoring for a one-tech defensive tackle to help with just that show and having some resistance on the defensive side of the ball.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, we went ahead and got TJ Sanders who was listed at two hundred and ninety four pounds on the last scene in the comment section that he's up to three ten now.
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_00]: But I think
- 1:09:09[SPEAKER_00]: Where do guys play best?
- 1:09:12[SPEAKER_00]: Because you want to maximize individual player success to have overall team success.
- 1:09:17[SPEAKER_00]: And even though players can play a multitude of positions, they play best at a particular position.
- 1:09:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I think TJ Sanders plays best as a three tech defensive tackle.
- 1:09:29[SPEAKER_00]: Now I know Dian Walker is six, seven, three hundred, forty pounds, but
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_00]: He's a dancing bear, right?
- 1:09:38[SPEAKER_00]: And he has athleticism of a three tech defensive tackle and he's also six seven.
- 1:09:44[SPEAKER_00]: So I know he, he's, he weighs a ton, but can he consistently keep his pat level down to take on those double teams or because of his athletic ability, he's a three tech defensive tackle as well.
- 1:09:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I just think it's it's Brandon being and the scheme and I think you have to put both of them in place because Brandon being is going to get the type of players that Sean McDermott ultimately wants right so overall I just think in those situations players have to do a better job and the coach and staff.
- 1:10:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we can't choke away games, right?
- 1:10:24[SPEAKER_00]: We can't do this choke, choke jobs because no matter if a guy can play three tech or one tech or whatever he plays, we shouldn't be giving up a certain amount of yards in thirteen seconds, right?
- 1:10:35[SPEAKER_00]: So we have to understand when the players have to perform and we have to understand when the coaches have to coach and I think sometimes there is a disconnect throughout the course of games, especially in high pressure situations.
- 1:10:49[SPEAKER_00]: to ask the kind of Jackson's question in terms of can we get better on third-down defense?
- 1:10:54[SPEAKER_00]: I hope so.
- 1:10:56[SPEAKER_00]: I hope we can call better play calls and our players can actually get the job done because we struggle to get the job done especially in the highest most crucial situations late in games.
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we didn't even talk about Lenin Jackson, like he's a wildcard right now.
- 1:11:14[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't even know what we're going to get with him.
- 1:11:16[SPEAKER_02]: And you mentioned D.N.
- 1:11:17[SPEAKER_02]: Walker, like I see him as a project.
- 1:11:20[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know how much of an impact we're going to get through this year.
- 1:11:24[SPEAKER_02]: He's got the back issues.
- 1:11:25[SPEAKER_02]: He's coming off of that last year was really bad pain-wise for him.
- 1:11:28[SPEAKER_02]: He said, so we'll see.
- 1:11:30[SPEAKER_02]: He looks okay in practice again.
- 1:11:32[SPEAKER_02]: They're not
- 1:11:34[SPEAKER_02]: doing much of where he needs to be physically tested, right?
- 1:11:37[SPEAKER_02]: He's we've seen the play that I even posted in slow motion where he didn't even have to barely lift his arm and his hand just towered over Josh Allen when he was throwing the ball.
- 1:11:47[SPEAKER_02]: So we have to I think the answer to the question is we have to we have to get better on run defense.
- 1:11:54[SPEAKER_02]: We have to get better on third down.
- 1:11:56[SPEAKER_02]: We have to get off the field because when you have the offense historically that the bills had last year
- 1:12:04[SPEAKER_02]: And they were able to do that.
- 1:12:05[SPEAKER_02]: Imagine if you can get that offense more possessions, because you can get off the field faster.
- 1:12:11[SPEAKER_02]: So that means Josh Allen has the ball more to control the clock and do more of his thing.
- 1:12:16[SPEAKER_00]: And still Gary see, we want to have thirties who turn it was on defense again this year.
- 1:12:20[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 1:12:21[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 1:12:22[SPEAKER_02]: There's no guarantee.
- 1:12:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I think, you know, not a lot of people were talking about that because I feel like Brandon Bean in the back of his mind,
- 1:12:32[SPEAKER_02]: He might have thought, okay, well, we played extremely clean football on both sides of the ball.
- 1:12:38[SPEAKER_02]: Defensively, if we can't get the thirty two turnovers, maybe we can get some more sex and create some more pressure and stop more
- 1:12:47[SPEAKER_02]: stop more of the run game.
- 1:12:48[SPEAKER_02]: So that looks like that's what he wanted to do this year.
- 1:12:51[SPEAKER_02]: So we did talk about defensive tackles and I didn't even I didn't even think about this transition, but Christian Wilkins.
- 1:12:58[SPEAKER_02]: We we said we wanted to kind of touch on it for a minute.
- 1:13:02[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously released by the Raiders, you're seeing all kinds of stories come out on X about how
- 1:13:07[SPEAKER_02]: Something's going on in the locker room in Vegas that involved Christian Vulcans that's not related.
- 1:13:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's just been stated as weird.
- 1:13:17[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what that means.
- 1:13:19[SPEAKER_02]: Initially it was reported that it was because of his recovery from his foot surgery.
- 1:13:23[SPEAKER_02]: Apparently the the Raiders didn't think that he was doing the proper treatments for his foot, whatever it was.
- 1:13:31[SPEAKER_02]: Let me ask you this.
- 1:13:33[SPEAKER_02]: Would you want Christian Vulcans on this team?
- 1:13:38[SPEAKER_02]: As long as whatever these weird situations are, aren't something that's completely out there, and it's something that's just kind of okay, whatever, what's your thoughts?
- 1:13:48[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if the weird situations isn't something like, you know, grabbing Josh Allen nuts and stuff like that, you know, no.
- 1:13:57[SPEAKER_00]: If it's not no weird situations going on like that, as far as the play is the talent.
- 1:14:02[SPEAKER_00]: And if that foot is right, or if that foot could get right before the season ends or by the mid by midseason, Christian Wilkins is a hell of a player, man.
- 1:14:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's a hell of a player, and I think he can make a tremendous impact for the Buffalo Bills.
- 1:14:18[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about high level players in the top ten Buffalo Bills players.
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think he would immediately be a top ten player on the Buffalo Bills roster.
- 1:14:28[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he's one of those players that can make game change in type play.
- 1:14:33[SPEAKER_00]: So from a talent standpoint, absolutely.
- 1:14:36[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 1:14:37[SPEAKER_00]: I would welcome Christian Wilkins with open arms.
- 1:14:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there was a video of him two days ago dancing in the weight room.
- 1:14:43[SPEAKER_02]: So his ankles probably, or his foot's probably fine.
- 1:14:48[SPEAKER_02]: Anything else that we, we didn't talk about?
- 1:14:51[SPEAKER_02]: Next week, pads go on.
- 1:14:54[SPEAKER_02]: That's the rumors pads go on early in the week.
- 1:14:56[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure.
- 1:14:57[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen reports it's Monday because they do practice tomorrow.
- 1:15:02[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see what happens.
- 1:15:04[SPEAKER_02]: It'll be another interesting week.
- 1:15:07[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, it's here training camps here and for all those that were wondering if you're watching this and you didn't watch last week's show.
- 1:15:14[SPEAKER_02]: I came in myself.
- 1:15:16[SPEAKER_02]: We'll do a fifty three-man roster projection.
- 1:15:18[SPEAKER_02]: For sure.
- 1:15:18[SPEAKER_02]: We love doing that.
- 1:15:20[SPEAKER_02]: They'll probably be the exact same fifty three because we share a brain.
- 1:15:23[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe not, but we'll see.
- 1:15:28[SPEAKER_02]: I came.
- 1:15:28[SPEAKER_02]: You want to take us out of here anything else before we go, man?
- 1:15:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think we know, man.
- 1:15:32[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of what happened this week.
- 1:15:34[SPEAKER_00]: No, I think, you know, I think it was it was a very
- 1:15:37[SPEAKER_00]: Very good show, man.
- 1:15:38[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I appreciate the fans or the comments section for, for a conversant with us.
- 1:15:44[SPEAKER_00]: We was able to get some fan interaction or comments or people in the comments interacting with us today.
- 1:15:49[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll continue to do so.
- 1:15:51[SPEAKER_00]: We see certain things that, you know, you make a great point or it's great questions.
- 1:15:55[SPEAKER_00]: We love to get it up and and conversant have that conversation.
- 1:15:59[SPEAKER_00]: So from
- 1:16:00[SPEAKER_00]: They've my SDM three for myself.
- 1:16:02[SPEAKER_00]: I can enrich and say rich this has been bills allergy.
- 1:16:05[SPEAKER_00]: We thank you for tuning in tune into us next week.
- 1:16:08[SPEAKER_00]: Same time nine p.m.
