- 0:12Hello friends, it's Shawn. Here it is.
- 0:15Friday. It's the 26th of April and Happy
- 0:20Friday to you. Hope you're doing great.
- 0:23Hope the weekend ahead is looking full of promise and
- 0:26maybe even a little bit of downtime to spend doing
- 0:30something that you love or maybe with someone that you love.
- 0:34This is the day that we get to redesign together and this is a
- 0:37Psalm of praise. It is a brief one, only 9 verses
- 0:42long, so we will ring every syllable of praise from from
- 0:48this. It's a beauty and it's ironic
- 0:51that these arms are so brief and so wonderful.
- 0:54And then just a few Sims later, we have the longest Sam in the
- 0:57Bible that we are going to have to split up, not entered into
- 1:00two days, but into three because it's so long.
- 1:03That's 119. And if we tried to read that in
- 1:06one day, friends, the Bible Reading podcast would go for a
- 1:10day and a half, I reckon. No, not quite, but it's a long
- 1:13one. But we're going to get there in
- 1:15a few weeks. But for right now, we are going
- 1:18to gather together to celebrate with some words of praise
- 1:21together reading Psalm 113. Praise the Lord.
- 1:37Yes, give praise those servants of the Lord, Praise the name of
- 1:42the Lord. Blessed be the name of the Lord
- 1:46now and forever, everywhere from east to West.
- 1:52Praise the name of the Lord, for the Lord is high above the
- 1:56nations. His glory is higher than the
- 1:59heavens. Who could be compared with the
- 2:03Lord our God, who was enthroned on high?
- 2:07He Stoops to look down on heaven and on earth.
- 2:12He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage
- 2:17dump. He sets them among princes, even
- 2:21the princes of his own people. He gives the childless woman a
- 2:27family, making her a happy mother.
- 2:31Praise the Lord all Lord, what an incredible
- 2:47God. You are worthy of our praise.
- 2:50You exist in the highest heavens on your almighty throne.
- 2:55That's even above the highest heavens.
- 2:57You have to stoop down to the heavens.
- 3:01And yet the psalmist says that when you bring your attention
- 3:04down to earth, it's the poor, it's the childless, it's those
- 3:12who are struggling who capture your heart, and you use your
- 3:17mighty power and presence to draw the struggling out of their
- 3:22depths of despair and to bring them to a place of wholeness.
- 3:28What an incredible example you give us, Lord.
- 3:33What a countercultural, counterintuitive way that you
- 3:36have about you. Transform our hearts to that as
- 3:43we find ourselves in positions of privilege that we would use
- 3:46our privilege to love those who are in need.
- 3:52And when we do find ourselves in need and we look up out of the
- 3:56valley, may we see you stretching to us, with your
- 4:02attention honed on us and our plight so that we would know we
- 4:07are never alone. You are a glorious, wonderful,
- 4:14kind and present God, and we praise you with our whole
- 4:19hearts. And it's all in the name of
- 4:22Jesus that we pray these things. Ah, man.
