- 0:00Speaker 1: Uh, listen, I'm excited because this, uh, this chat here
- 0:04Speaker 1: is happening. I don't want to say by accident, but
- 0:06Speaker 1: I saw she's putting music out. She's a part of
- 0:09Speaker 1: my I was gonna say she's part of my side
- 0:11Speaker 1: gig that was we're gonna we're add that out. I
- 0:15Speaker 1: met her through my side. No, I don't like that.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Aaron Alvi better known to probably the majority of fans
- 0:22Speaker 1: as Aaron Forsburg, How are you doing great? How are
- 0:25Speaker 1: you not bad? I got to ask, because first of all,
- 0:28Speaker 1: you have gone from from somebody I would see at
- 0:31Speaker 1: the rink on game day to all you're a TV
- 0:34Speaker 1: star now I don't know all that, but and you've
- 0:38Speaker 1: got the music. How are things to How are things
- 0:41Speaker 1: being you right now?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 0:44Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I was not expecting that question. How much time do
- 0:47Speaker 2: you have?
- 0:48Speaker 1: No?
- 0:49Speaker 2: Things are these are going well? Because I'm a new mom,
- 0:51Speaker 2: I'm a wife, you know, I've been doing music for years.
- 0:54Speaker 2: The TV show was definitely an add on. It's just
- 0:56Speaker 2: kind of chaotic, But I like chaos. I kind of
- 0:59Speaker 2: thriving chaos. I think. So it's good.
- 1:01Speaker 1: We're s cruising when and I'm obviously we're here because
- 1:04Speaker 1: you're putting out a song tomorrow and EP is coming. Uh.
- 1:08Speaker 1: But I got a touch on the show happened? Uh.
- 1:13Speaker 1: And it's cool because there's there's an NFL version and
- 1:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna forget what it's called, but it's like quarterback
- 1:18Speaker 1: or they didn't receiver one. Yeah, because Kiddo was on. Yeah,
- 1:22Speaker 1: And it's funny because I'm a Vikings guy. But I
- 1:24Speaker 1: messed with you. No, I love I love him. But
- 1:28Speaker 1: but the NHL version of that came around at not
- 1:31Speaker 1: the best time for you, between coming into the playoffs
- 1:34Speaker 1: and you're trying to.
- 1:35Speaker 2: You mean, when I was forty heavier than it is
- 1:38Speaker 2: that what you're trying to say in a nice way. Okay, yes,
- 1:41Speaker 2: we'll just go ahead and tell you that was not opportune.
- 1:43Speaker 2: But I don't know. It's one of those things that
- 1:46Speaker 2: it kinda Yeah. I mean, nobody's gonna feel bad for
- 1:49Speaker 2: me if you watch the show. I'm literally driving through
- 1:51Speaker 2: Chick fil A daily, so I don't think anyone's gonna
- 1:53Speaker 2: be like, oh, poor her. But it really was like
- 1:56Speaker 2: it was a vulnerable time in my life. But it
- 1:58Speaker 2: was a time that I really hope my son and
- 2:00Speaker 2: can look back and see how excited we were to
- 2:01Speaker 2: have him, and there was a lot of chaos, you know,
- 2:04Speaker 2: surrounding his birth. We didn't know if he was going
- 2:05Speaker 2: to come during playoffs, if they were going to lose out,
- 2:07Speaker 2: what the scenario was going to be. So in hindsight,
- 2:10Speaker 2: yeah it was.
- 2:11Speaker 1: It was.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I'm happy we did it, but yeah, we did not
- 2:13Speaker 2: agree to do it when I was pregnant. We agreed
- 2:16Speaker 2: to do it before I got pregnant.
- 2:17Speaker 1: And funny enough, I remember bumping into you towards I
- 2:20Speaker 1: don't know if it was towards the end of the
- 2:21Speaker 1: season or we were in the playoffs.
- 2:23Speaker 2: But everyone was bumping into me at that I had
- 2:25Speaker 2: a lot of landscape.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Into But I feel like you even made a comment
- 2:29Speaker 1: like phil was like, well, just hang on if you
- 2:31Speaker 1: go into labor, just hang on till the game. He
- 2:33Speaker 1: was tight.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Just keep your legs crossed.
- 2:36Speaker 1: We don't understand. Just don't stand up. The baby wants to.
- 2:39Speaker 2: I didn't either, so I was like, oh, yeah, I
- 2:41Speaker 2: could just cross my legs.
- 2:43Speaker 1: How did y'all meet?
- 2:44Speaker 2: So Philip and I met? We always a credit it
- 2:47Speaker 2: to Ellie Yosi and Roman Yo. See, so I knew
- 2:50Speaker 2: them before, and I modeled actually across the street at
- 2:53Speaker 2: boot Barn. I did with Ellie. Ellie's a model, modeled
- 2:57Speaker 2: with her on a gig with boot Barn and I
- 2:59Speaker 2: think saw me there and then messaged me on Instagram
- 3:02Speaker 2: and took me to Dave and Busters. Two days later.
- 3:03Speaker 1: He hits you with the damn girl, Yeah, your first
- 3:06Speaker 1: name was David Busters And there was a second date.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Oh wait, I am like a Carney at heart. Please
- 3:12Speaker 2: that was my dream first date.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Do you have.
- 3:16Speaker 2: The Yeah I am, but yeah, so we uh yeah,
- 3:20Speaker 2: so I like the hockey players. It's a good run time.
- 3:23Speaker 2: No so Philip has all his teeth shocking me.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:26Speaker 2: They He took me to Dave and Busters and it
- 3:28Speaker 2: was awesome. We have the best time. We're both competitive.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I didn't realize how competitive. It's like one of those
- 3:34Speaker 2: things where we had an agreement, like whoever loses has to
- 3:37Speaker 2: buy the candy for the like the movie we're gonna watch,
- 3:41Speaker 2: and he won no shock to anybody. And I was thought,
- 3:45Speaker 2: you know, like, okay, I'm on a first date. He's
- 3:47Speaker 2: gonna pay end up paying and he's like, no, you
- 3:48Speaker 2: lost your paying for this candy. And I was like, Okay,
- 3:51Speaker 2: this is weird, but I love that, Like Philip is
- 3:53Speaker 2: who he is, and he made we made an agreement
- 3:55Speaker 2: in competition and he won.
- 3:56Speaker 1: So yeah, at what point in your li life did
- 4:00Speaker 1: the music come about? And was that was that always
- 4:03Speaker 1: part of the.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Plan or I yeah, so it. I don't want to
- 4:07Speaker 2: say it was an accident by any mean, a happy
- 4:09Speaker 2: little accident. But I have a cousin that was in
- 4:12Speaker 2: the band O Town MTV's making the band and it
- 4:14Speaker 2: was big, yeah, we're going deep, like all or nothing,
- 4:18Speaker 2: liquid dreams. They were just there. Ask Jacob Underwood. I
- 4:22Speaker 2: always say it was the redhead with dreadlocks. Okay, yeah,
- 4:25Speaker 2: that was Jacob and he I showed interest in music
- 4:28Speaker 2: when I was around nineteen ish and I was in
- 4:31Speaker 2: college and actually in sports broadcasting I was my major.
- 4:35Speaker 2: And he said, you know, if you want to do this,
- 4:36Speaker 2: I could probably like help you. I'll take you to Nashville,
- 4:39Speaker 2: will do this whole thing. And I was like, I
- 4:40Speaker 2: don't know about country. I was born in Race, South Georgia,
- 4:42Speaker 2: but I didn't have like this lifelong dream of being
- 4:45Speaker 2: a country artist.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:46Speaker 2: He's like, let's let's go to Nashville. Let's try this thing,
- 4:48Speaker 2: go to Nashville record some songs. And then I asked.
- 4:50Speaker 2: I was like, if you want to be an artist,
- 4:52Speaker 2: what do you do? Really like, how do you become
- 4:53Speaker 2: an artist? He's like, well, you need a fan base.
- 4:55Speaker 2: And I was like, oh, that feels like a lot
- 4:57Speaker 2: to think about me. I've never really like had this aspiration.
- 5:00Speaker 2: All of a sudden, he's like, you gotta get fans.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I'm like, fans, I just wrote my first song, what
- 5:05Speaker 2: do you mean? So we were talking and I was
- 5:07Speaker 2: really active on Braves Twitter. I was a huge Atlanta
- 5:10Speaker 2: Braves fan, like randomly got into it, like during college,
- 5:14Speaker 2: and we were friends with all these things. We called
- 5:15Speaker 2: ourselves the Brave Spam, and I was like, what would
- 5:17Speaker 2: be kind of cool to write a song for my
- 5:19Speaker 2: little brave Spam. So I wrote the song called Tomahawk
- 5:22Speaker 2: Chop at the time, and it incorporated you know, the
- 5:25Speaker 2: chant that they do at the Braves games, and Chipper
- 5:27Speaker 2: Jones actually was in the music video. So Chipper Jones,
- 5:30Speaker 2: I think, is why I even have a career at all,
- 5:32Speaker 2: because he tweeted out that he was in this new
- 5:35Speaker 2: country artist music video and everyone was into it, and
- 5:37Speaker 2: so I kind of just started touring after that. He
- 5:39Speaker 2: really didn't have a big favor there, and it's where
- 5:42Speaker 2: I'm at.
- 5:43Speaker 1: That's so funny that it started with sports. Sports, Yeah,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and now it's you're.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Living in door sports. My family doesn't though I'm the
- 5:51Speaker 2: only person in my entire family. My dad said I
- 5:53Speaker 2: was adopted because they're like medieval type people. Oh, i'd
- 5:57Speaker 2: had like a scholar and books and E thinks sports
- 5:59Speaker 2: are kind of voice. But I loved him. I thought
- 6:01Speaker 2: there's such an energy around all sports that were so
- 6:04Speaker 2: fun and I loved playing sports growing up.
- 6:06Speaker 1: So it's funny because speaking of books, I'm originally from Minneapolis,
- 6:09Speaker 1: so I'm it's talking to my mom who still lives
- 6:11Speaker 1: and lives up in Minnesota, and I was like, oh,
- 6:13Speaker 1: I've been so busy. She's like, you just need downtime
- 6:15Speaker 1: to read a book. I'm like book book on tape,
- 6:18Speaker 1: mab Yeah, lots of sport with a book on time.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I know I had. But my problem with books is
- 6:23Speaker 2: I'm not a responsible reader, where if I start, all
- 6:26Speaker 2: responsibilities are out for the next Like until I finished
- 6:29Speaker 2: that book, I get obsessed over the book. Philip got
- 6:31Speaker 2: me onto it was lot on Ibrahimovic of course, and
- 6:34Speaker 2: I was like, I don't know who that is. And
- 6:35Speaker 2: he's like, well, we can't get married until you know
- 6:37Speaker 2: all about Sloughton. Buys me the autobiography. I proceed to
- 6:41Speaker 2: read the biography. I didn't do anything for two days.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I just read everything about Sloton and then I got
- 6:45Speaker 2: like obsessive. I was like, this guy's awesome. He's incredible,
- 6:48Speaker 2: Like his story was really cool. So yeah, after that,
- 6:51Speaker 2: he didn't suggest I read anything again because I kind
- 6:53Speaker 2: of was gone for the count for two days.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Hey, the baby's crying. Wow, You're like, probably. Well when
- 7:01Speaker 1: it comes to there's something special about being in a
- 7:06Speaker 1: hockey family. And I grew up a big baseball fan.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I transition to a massive football fan. Hockey came to
- 7:13Speaker 1: me later in life, which like, I don't know what
- 7:14Speaker 1: took it so long, but I'm glad it's here. But
- 7:18Speaker 1: there's something special about being a part of a hockey family.
- 7:23Speaker 1: And it really isn't just the players, and it's not
- 7:25Speaker 1: just you know, their family or extended family, Like the
- 7:28Speaker 1: whole community feels like part of that family. So what
- 7:31Speaker 1: has that been like for you? Not only as the
- 7:35Speaker 1: better half of All Star NHL player. But now to
- 7:39Speaker 1: have your own music career, that's fully I mean, not
- 7:41Speaker 1: that you didn't have it, but it's definitely out.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I take step back, definitely. You know, it actually
- 7:46Speaker 2: COVID hit. So that's why I took my step back,
- 7:49Speaker 2: and then I really did get fully engulfed. I was
- 7:51Speaker 2: still working, I was in the studio every week here
- 7:53Speaker 2: in Ashville, but I wasn't touring because, like you said too,
- 7:56Speaker 2: there's a whole community there and there is a lot
- 7:57Speaker 2: of responsibility that comes with being, you know, the significant
- 8:01Speaker 2: other of any professional athlete I imagine. But I love
- 8:05Speaker 2: the hockey community. I feel like everyone's so kind. I
- 8:08Speaker 2: feel like it's a particularly humble, classy sport, you know,
- 8:11Speaker 2: comparatively to a lot of others. Not talking poorly about others,
- 8:14Speaker 2: but I think in comparison, most people would agree that hockey.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Is special, you know, funny enough. It's you hear if
- 8:20Speaker 1: you watch a game on TV, and especially the national
- 8:23Speaker 1: TV games, they call it the gentleman's sport.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but like shocking. Yeah, I don't know about all that,
- 8:31Speaker 2: but yeah, it is it is. I mean, I'm not
- 8:33Speaker 2: going to outfill up stories, but he has some stories
- 8:35Speaker 2: and I'm like, please tell, like write a book at
- 8:38Speaker 2: the end of this that Wayne will not read, but
- 8:40Speaker 2: please there he has such cool stories and it is
- 8:43Speaker 2: It just reiterates that it is a gentleman's sport, maybe
- 8:45Speaker 2: behind the facade of like this big strong, you know,
- 8:48Speaker 2: like fight each other game. Those guys are pretty classy
- 8:52Speaker 2: and they're pretty like even if they're on other teams.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I hope he does.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Say minus and interaction. When I was by the locker
- 8:58Speaker 1: room between Corey Perry, I'm Mattias that co home. But
- 9:01Speaker 1: we're gonna leave that alone. We'll leave that alone. That
- 9:04Speaker 1: But the support, especially from Smashville, It's funny because I
- 9:06Speaker 1: see you on social media and anybody that's a fan
- 9:09Speaker 1: of Phil is like automatically a cheerleader of yours. And
- 9:11Speaker 1: what does that support like from Nashville itself?
- 9:15Speaker 2: Well, as you know better than anybody, the Prince fans
- 9:17Speaker 2: are the best, Like they really are. I always say
- 9:19Speaker 2: it's so, I you know, hockey is a thing here
- 9:22Speaker 2: in this town. It's big. It's become such a big thing,
- 9:25Speaker 2: especially after twenty seventeen run, which I wasn't a part of.
- 9:28Speaker 2: So I came in and people already adored hockey, and
- 9:31Speaker 2: I think they're just like true. I don't know how
- 9:32Speaker 2: it is in other markets, but here in Nashville, I
- 9:35Speaker 2: can attest that the people really just want the best
- 9:37Speaker 2: for the players, the families of the players, you know,
- 9:40Speaker 2: everybody in the organization. And they're just happy for wins.
- 9:42Speaker 2: You know, maybe they're not thrilled when we're losing, but
- 9:44Speaker 2: they're really not that hard on the players. They kind
- 9:46Speaker 2: of just they're just champions. They're positive. So I love
- 9:49Speaker 2: that about the press.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I am we lose? How yo? You suck outside the
- 9:51Speaker 1: locker room?
- 9:51Speaker 2: Oh okay, well that yeah?
- 9:53Speaker 1: Yeah? So with the music and where you're at now?
- 9:56Speaker 1: And you said you took a step back during COVID,
- 9:59Speaker 1: where do you you like? You said the TV show
- 10:02Speaker 1: was happening before. Yeah, you know, any real buddy really
- 10:05Speaker 1: knew y'all were going to have a baby, right, Yeah.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Well we agreed to it before. Are we even got pregnant?
- 10:10Speaker 1: Yeah? When? So when were you working on this music?
- 10:13Speaker 1: Was it around that same time or before it?
- 10:15Speaker 2: I really never stopped. So the EP that's coming out
- 10:17Speaker 2: are like six songs of like lessons I've learned from
- 10:21Speaker 2: the past ten years and a lot of it's just
- 10:23Speaker 2: been maybe I wrote it eight years ago, maybe I
- 10:26Speaker 2: wrote it two months ago. So there's there's a variation
- 10:28Speaker 2: of the songs. But I always was working on the songs.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Some of these are just like my favorites from the
- 10:33Speaker 2: past ten years essentially, or songs I think I need
- 10:36Speaker 2: to release.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Now, Okay, where is your Where's the motivation coming from?
- 10:42Speaker 1: Now that where you were ten years ago? Right? Much
- 10:45Speaker 1: different versus wife rather, you know, entrepreneur artist. So where's
- 10:52Speaker 1: the motivation coming from? Obviously the EP is coming, but
- 10:54Speaker 1: we're talking about the song Q and A as well,
- 10:56Speaker 1: which comes out tomorrow. But as far as the EP
- 10:58Speaker 1: as a whole, where's the main motivation for the whole thing? I,
- 11:03Speaker 1: as cliche as it sounds, I think becoming a mother.
- 11:05Speaker 2: There's something like when I had him, I think I
- 11:08Speaker 2: had this idea, especially at the time when I was touring.
- 11:11Speaker 2: You know, I was like young and single and it
- 11:12Speaker 2: was fun. I was in bars and festivals and clubs.
- 11:14Speaker 2: I was like, this was where I wanted to do.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I had the best time. Then I you know, got
- 11:18Speaker 2: into a serious relationship with Philip and then we got
- 11:20Speaker 2: married and then having a child. I was like man,
- 11:23Speaker 2: every part of young Aaron would have thought it's over.
- 11:26Speaker 2: You know, it's done, You had your run, you did it.
- 11:29Speaker 2: And sure, I don't really want to be at bars
- 11:30Speaker 2: and festivals every night now because my heart is with
- 11:33Speaker 2: my son and my husband and that's where I want
- 11:34Speaker 2: to be. But with that being said, I was like,
- 11:37Speaker 2: you know what, if anything, I have more more to
- 11:40Speaker 2: write on, Like this is time. This is a time
- 11:42Speaker 2: for my son to look and like I don't want
- 11:44Speaker 2: him to think that I stopped pursuing my dreams because
- 11:46Speaker 2: he came along, because, if anything, he's just motivated that more.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Same with my husband, you know, like being a wife
- 11:51Speaker 2: to Philip has given me so much confidence and so
- 11:54Speaker 2: much I don't know, so he gives me so much
- 11:56Speaker 2: support and encouragement that I was like, you know what,
- 11:57Speaker 2: I don't have to just stop because you know, society's
- 12:00Speaker 2: ideals of what the artist looks like, maybe I don't
- 12:03Speaker 2: necessarily fit, but yeah, I think that's the main motivation.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Stories come out in songs and so everybody has a
- 12:11Speaker 1: favorite story, and I love catching up with whoever sitting
- 12:13Speaker 1: on the other side of the table for me because
- 12:16Speaker 1: everybody has a favorite story, which turns into a favorite song,
- 12:19Speaker 1: although I've heard a million times from different artists of
- 12:22Speaker 1: every level. Yeah, they're all my babies and I love
- 12:26Speaker 1: them all, Okay, but I don't feel that way as
- 12:30Speaker 1: a father of two. There's times one is your favorite
- 12:34Speaker 1: over the other. So, out of these six, and obviously
- 12:37Speaker 1: there's other music out there, but let's talk about the
- 12:39Speaker 1: six on the EP. What story is the closest to
- 12:42Speaker 1: your heart or maybe was the toughest to share?
- 12:46Speaker 2: Ooh yeah, So I think, like we were just saying,
- 12:50Speaker 2: on the other side of being married and loving my
- 12:54Speaker 2: husband and my baby, there are songs that come out
- 12:57Speaker 2: that were not motivated by current events. You know, if
- 13:00Speaker 2: my husband has not you know, broken my heart. So yeah,
- 13:04Speaker 2: there are songs that were from twenty two year old Aaron,
- 13:07Speaker 2: you know that maybe he was experiencing life. And that's
- 13:09Speaker 2: where the title the EP Questions and Answers comes out,
- 13:12Speaker 2: where it's you know, there are years that ask questions
- 13:14Speaker 2: and the are years that answer, and that's what the
- 13:15Speaker 2: whole EP is. There are some of my question years there,
- 13:18Speaker 2: and there's some of my answer years there. So tomorrow
- 13:20Speaker 2: the song and Badly is kind of a question. It's
- 13:22Speaker 2: kind of one of those question years. So that one's
- 13:25Speaker 2: not a necessarily a heartbreak song, but it's basically begging
- 13:28Speaker 2: the person that I'm in a relationship with if you're
- 13:30Speaker 2: gonna end this, which you know ended up being Philip,
- 13:33Speaker 2: I wrote after I met him, if you end this,
- 13:35Speaker 2: you better break my heart. You better do it bad,
- 13:37Speaker 2: because if I don't get to hate you, especially Phillips,
- 13:39Speaker 2: he's such a nice person. I was like, I can't
- 13:41Speaker 2: just walk away from you. And then it just it
- 13:43Speaker 2: didn't work out, Like you gotta like really mess me
- 13:45Speaker 2: up or else we're I'm never gonna get over you.
- 13:48Speaker 2: So thank god it worked out, and badly was the
- 13:50Speaker 2: turmoil you felt when you're first in a relationship of like, God,
- 13:53Speaker 2: I think I really like this person. He better really
- 13:55Speaker 2: mess me up if we end up breaking up, because
- 13:57Speaker 2: otherwise it's gonna be the one that got away forever.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Yeah, because you don't want to like, you can't.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Just walk away from that person.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Yeah. When it comes to you know, phil doing his
- 14:07Speaker 1: thing very well, you doing your thing? Is he does
- 14:10Speaker 1: he like to sit in? Does he like to give feedback?
- 14:14Speaker 1: Has he been in the studio? Can he rap?
- 14:17Speaker 2: Can my sweetish husband wrap, No, he cannot.
- 14:22Speaker 1: But what's his impact and input as far as musically, Like.
- 14:25Speaker 2: I said, well, musically, I don't know. We do keep
- 14:28Speaker 2: it fairly separate. Philip is very involved. When I ask
- 14:31Speaker 2: him to be he'll listen to whatever. He'll listen to
- 14:33Speaker 2: the songs. But to be honest, I feel like that's
- 14:36Speaker 2: where it becomes that's this is my baby, you know,
- 14:38Speaker 2: Like I toured. I pride myself in knowing that, like
- 14:40Speaker 2: he had already heard my music before I knew his name,
- 14:42Speaker 2: you know, one of those things. So it's like this
- 14:44Speaker 2: was my baby. And although his opinion means more to
- 14:48Speaker 2: me than anybody else is in the world, in fact
- 14:50Speaker 2: only really his opinion now my son's matter. But we
- 14:54Speaker 2: keep it fairly separate, just the same as I'm not
- 14:56Speaker 2: telling him how to play hockeys.
- 14:57Speaker 1: I don't know about you. You don't comment on Wide
- 15:00Speaker 1: Open that he might.
- 15:01Speaker 2: I don't know anything about it, you know, I'm just
- 15:02Speaker 2: out here. I'm just supporting it. Like when he does
- 15:04Speaker 2: something great, that's great, and he's the same, Like he
- 15:06Speaker 2: doesn't criticize me, or he doesn't even give me critiques,
- 15:09Speaker 2: and I don't give him critiques. We're just there to
- 15:11Speaker 2: support each other in our respective careers, and I think
- 15:14Speaker 2: it works best that way.
- 15:15Speaker 1: So we will hear Q and A tomorrow available to stream.
- 15:18Speaker 1: The rest of the EP is coming out. Of the
- 15:20Speaker 1: six songs, which one has he shared? Which one is
- 15:24Speaker 1: his favorite or which one he goes back to or
- 15:26Speaker 1: is he just like, hey love you, you love the music.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Well, there's one on the EP that I wrote almost
- 15:31Speaker 2: entirely alone. I had a couple of writers come in
- 15:33Speaker 2: and help me with a part of one verse. But
- 15:35Speaker 2: that song it's called Oasis, and I've played it live before.
- 15:39Speaker 2: But that's his song. That's a song that there's no question.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Like I said, maybe some have trickles over of like
- 15:45Speaker 2: other life experiences, but Oasis is for Philip, and that
- 15:48Speaker 2: one I think. I think he feels special. Who wouldn't
- 15:51Speaker 2: want a songwrite about them?
- 15:52Speaker 1: You know it's nice there might be a song about.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Written about them. Yeah, So I think Oasis would probably
- 15:59Speaker 2: be the song that I mean, he knows. I've been
- 16:02Speaker 2: very open about that one. That one's for Philip.
- 16:05Speaker 1: As you get back into it after stepping back from
- 16:09Speaker 1: the music, what has been something you're nervous about to
- 16:13Speaker 1: get back into or to do for the first time,
- 16:15Speaker 1: or and then what's one thing that you're like, Damn,
- 16:18Speaker 1: I forgot how awesome this was.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I think, like I was saying, I have more.
- 16:23Speaker 2: I feel more secure in myself more than ever. But
- 16:26Speaker 2: at the same time, I almost feel more nervous about
- 16:28Speaker 2: releasing because I did take such a step back and
- 16:30Speaker 2: before it only affected me, you know, like my music,
- 16:33Speaker 2: it was just me, like, you know, my family might
- 16:35Speaker 2: my team, but I didn't have a husband and a
- 16:38Speaker 2: child that I'm also like protecting in this. So there's
- 16:41Speaker 2: something either. There's a give and to take in everything
- 16:43Speaker 2: in life. So even right now I'm here and I'm
- 16:45Speaker 2: so happy to be here and like, I'm so thankful
- 16:47Speaker 2: you had me here to promote the EP and the
- 16:49Speaker 2: single coming out tomorrow to start it, but I'm also
- 16:51Speaker 2: taking time away from my son. So it's like there
- 16:53Speaker 2: is going to always be a balance in life, a
- 16:55Speaker 2: give and a take. And I hope this EP does
- 16:59Speaker 2: as well as it's supposed to do and goes as
- 17:01Speaker 2: big as it can go, But at the same time,
- 17:04Speaker 2: I have to make sure that I'm balancing being a
- 17:06Speaker 2: wife and a mother.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Is the EP going to because it's so different because
- 17:13Speaker 1: EPs used to be like, Okay, here's a sample of
- 17:16Speaker 1: what my album is going to be. Like it's almost
- 17:18Speaker 1: like it was super strategic. Now, especially in Nashville, it's like, hey,
- 17:22Speaker 1: I got six songs, they're dope, put them on an
- 17:24Speaker 1: EP and put the Well, where is that for you?
- 17:26Speaker 1: Is it just here's six songs, take them whatever? Or
- 17:29Speaker 1: is this kind of like the tee up to an
- 17:32Speaker 1: album that you want to maybe get to at some point.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Well, because I haven't been touring, I do have hundreds
- 17:37Speaker 2: of songs right now that I've just been writing for
- 17:39Speaker 2: years with the writers here in town. So I have
- 17:42Speaker 2: a lot that I could release. And I think, as
- 17:45Speaker 2: we know, like this day and age, I think everyone
- 17:47Speaker 2: kind of has a little bit of add with music
- 17:49Speaker 2: where they don't, not unless you're one of the big bigs.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Not everyone's releasing a full album, you know, because it's
- 17:54Speaker 2: hard to get people to commit to what listening to
- 17:56Speaker 2: you for this long, which is why questions and answers.
- 17:58Speaker 2: The EP is just sick songs that are releasing in
- 18:00Speaker 2: a waterfall release. So I think it'll be three drops essentially. Okay,
- 18:05Speaker 2: with that being said, you know, depending on how it does,
- 18:07Speaker 2: maybe maybe I do end up releasing more from the
- 18:11Speaker 2: vault of songs that I have. I have a lot
- 18:13Speaker 2: that I'd love to share, the songs I think are important.
- 18:15Speaker 2: But like you're saying, like some of them are old
- 18:17Speaker 2: to me, but that doesn't mean they're old to people
- 18:19Speaker 2: who haven't heard of them.
- 18:20Speaker 1: For people that might be hearing this before they hear
- 18:23Speaker 1: a song, what can they expect from you? And when
- 18:27Speaker 1: I say how, what do you? Who do you sound like?
- 18:33Speaker 1: And when I say that, I don't mean like, oh
- 18:35Speaker 1: I sound like artists a right, But it feels like
- 18:37Speaker 1: even in what I do, it's like you take, you
- 18:40Speaker 1: take some of this, some of this, some of this
- 18:42Speaker 1: to form who you want to be, and it's not
- 18:45Speaker 1: necessarily a copy, more inspired by what would that melting
- 18:49Speaker 1: pot be? That makes you who you are as an artist?
- 18:52Speaker 2: So you like the musical inspirations growing up or like
- 18:55Speaker 2: what that to that to even now?
- 18:58Speaker 1: Who make you like, oh I saw them do it
- 19:00Speaker 1: that way? I won sy it with my flair and
- 19:02Speaker 1: vice versa.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Totally. Yeah, So I grew up with like Bruce Springsteen,
- 19:06Speaker 2: you know, the Beatles, Paul McCartney's my favorite. Not the
- 19:08Speaker 2: Beatles necessarily but Paul McCartney has an artist and like
- 19:11Speaker 2: his writing. His single writing is something that I really like.
- 19:14Speaker 2: And then I think that's the growing up aspect. And
- 19:17Speaker 2: then I had my mom always had country playing. She
- 19:20Speaker 2: had like Toby Keith rest in Peace playing all the time,
- 19:23Speaker 2: and I loved his vibe and the energy he brought.
- 19:26Speaker 2: And then a newer artist that I think I the
- 19:29Speaker 2: first time in a very long time that I felt
- 19:31Speaker 2: super moved by an artist was Lewis Capaldi. A mix
- 19:35Speaker 2: of those you know, like you have kind of this
- 19:37Speaker 2: melting pot of that's the style of writing. I think,
- 19:41Speaker 2: the vocals, it's all. It's definitely country pop. I had
- 19:44Speaker 2: a pop era where I didn't really release a lot
- 19:47Speaker 2: of country. So it's kind of fun going back to
- 19:49Speaker 2: my roots. I was born in raised South Georgia. Although
- 19:52Speaker 2: I've lost a lot of my accent being married to European,
- 19:56Speaker 2: it's still there. That's in my roots. That's where the
- 19:58Speaker 2: country comes in. But the right is very styled of
- 20:01Speaker 2: you know, it's it's pretty vulnerable.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I was texting with our in arena. DJ's name is Battle. Yeah,
- 20:09Speaker 1: and we do these pregame we do these production meetings. Yeah,
- 20:13Speaker 1: and and it's like, okay, here's you know, they point
- 20:15Speaker 1: to me, They're like, okay, here's you're doing this, this, this, whatever,
- 20:17Speaker 1: You're good, Okay, you're doing this. And then Battle was like, oh, hey,
- 20:22Speaker 1: you know, I know that Aaron has music coming. Does
- 20:26Speaker 1: she have anything with like a pop and so and so?
- 20:32Speaker 1: He I think somebody did they reach out to you already?
- 20:34Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 20:34Speaker 1: Okay, So so that I want to ask, let's say
- 20:37Speaker 1: we go into a timeout or something like that and
- 20:39Speaker 1: you hear your song go over whatever we're doing. Is
- 20:42Speaker 1: that going to be weird?
- 20:44Speaker 2: I almost wish y'all hadn't asked because then because now
- 20:46Speaker 2: it's like seems like I'm like, yeah, guys, do it.
- 20:49Speaker 2: But it's one of those things like I wouldn't have
- 20:52Speaker 2: thought anything. I would have been like, awesome.
- 20:54Speaker 1: You know.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Of course I want my music promoted because I think
- 20:56Speaker 2: that every everybody who listens to it, like, why else
- 20:58Speaker 2: would I be doing it if I didn't want it
- 21:00Speaker 2: to be out there?
- 21:00Speaker 1: Right?
- 21:01Speaker 2: But at the same time, like I've always been very
- 21:03Speaker 2: vocal that I will not sing the anthem with Philip
- 21:05Speaker 2: in the room, and not because of an insecurity, but
- 21:08Speaker 2: because it just feels like I don't know. I think
- 21:10Speaker 2: that would make me really nervous to do it right
- 21:12Speaker 2: in front of Philip. But like, my music is something
- 21:14Speaker 2: I'm proud of, right, so, like I would love to
- 21:16Speaker 2: hear it anywhere. I hope to hear it wherever I go.
- 21:18Speaker 2: But with that being said, I'm not going to be
- 21:20Speaker 2: the one like knocking on Barry's door. You think you
- 21:24Speaker 2: guys can promote me a little bit out there, So
- 21:26Speaker 2: I don't know. It's definitely a little bit of a mix.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Philip said his next contractor'll give you a deal if
- 21:30Speaker 1: I can see me yeah every game.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and I want a power slide after every anthem?
- 21:36Speaker 2: Can you guys work that out?
- 21:37Speaker 1: The funny thing about the anthem is some artists feel
- 21:39Speaker 1: so different about it, Like Luke Bryan stepped out last
- 21:42Speaker 1: year absolutely killed it. But there's some artists because I
- 21:45Speaker 1: tried to help book in a previous employer, I tried
- 21:49Speaker 1: to help book a couple of country artists as they
- 21:51Speaker 1: were coming to town, and so I talked to their
- 21:53Speaker 1: manager and they go, I won't let my artists do
- 21:55Speaker 1: the anthem.
- 21:56Speaker 2: It's a tough one.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Well, and at first I was like, don't love America?
- 21:59Speaker 2: Yeah, come on.
- 22:01Speaker 1: But he's like, because if they kill it, nobody cares.
- 22:04Speaker 1: They're expected to kill it. It's not going to go viral.
- 22:06Speaker 1: It's not there's you do the anthem. You're supposed to
- 22:08Speaker 1: kill it.
- 22:09Speaker 2: So true.
- 22:09Speaker 1: It lives forever if you screw it up.
- 22:11Speaker 2: It's so true.
- 22:11Speaker 1: So he's like, it doesn't help him as song.
- 22:14Speaker 2: I don't know if I'm sorry hard butt song, but
- 22:17Speaker 2: there's something about it that it is. It's also like
- 22:20Speaker 2: a humbling experience. I actually became like an anthem artist
- 22:22Speaker 2: for a second there because the management that I was with,
- 22:25Speaker 2: anytime we would tour, they'd make me sing, not make me.
- 22:27Speaker 2: They would sign me up to sing the anthem at
- 22:29Speaker 2: almost every sporting event leading up to the concert or
- 22:33Speaker 2: the show as a way of promoting and marketing. And
- 22:35Speaker 2: it worked.
- 22:35Speaker 1: You know.
- 22:35Speaker 2: There Wo'd be people be like, oh, I saw you
- 22:37Speaker 2: sing the anthem, and I saw you at a show
- 22:38Speaker 2: in town, so I came whatever. And then it was
- 22:42Speaker 2: like I kind of became, like I said, the anthem artist.
- 22:44Speaker 2: I was always singing the anthem. I was like, this
- 22:46Speaker 2: is kind of getting a lot singing the anthem quite often,
- 22:49Speaker 2: but it is every single time. It's intimidating because just
- 22:52Speaker 2: like you said, it can really.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Takes one one way, yeah, or one like oh I
- 22:57Speaker 1: took a breath there and all of a sudden, you're
- 22:58Speaker 1: breathing time. And I always tell people because you see
- 23:02Speaker 1: gets love at the beginning of the anthem, So if
- 23:04Speaker 1: someone hasn't done it before, I tried to bump into it. Hey,
- 23:07Speaker 1: just so you know, if you have good you do,
- 23:08Speaker 1: you're gonna yell back to you. Because my fear would
- 23:11Speaker 1: be like oh say, I'd be.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Like what exactly and then you stop. They did it
- 23:15Speaker 2: to me the Orioles. The first MLB game that I
- 23:18Speaker 2: sang out was for the Baltimore Orioles yep. And it
- 23:21Speaker 2: was during the Bobby Bobbies, like David Ortiz. It was
- 23:26Speaker 2: his like goodbye tour and so it was insane in
- 23:30Speaker 2: this it was the last time he's gonna play against
- 23:32Speaker 2: the Orioles. You know. It was like this huge night
- 23:34Speaker 2: and they said just you know, they're gonna yell oh
- 23:37Speaker 2: for the Orioles. Like at in the middle of the song,
- 23:40Speaker 2: I was like, yeay, okay. It was jarring, like you're
- 23:43Speaker 2: already prepared for the delay, right, so you have to
- 23:45Speaker 2: sing you're hearing yourself sing verses that you've already sung
- 23:48Speaker 2: you feel like eight minutes ago, and they're just now
- 23:50Speaker 2: coming back to you in your inner ear. But you
- 23:51Speaker 2: just have to power through and just trust your gut.
- 23:54Speaker 2: And then you have this whole crowd yelling in the
- 23:56Speaker 2: middle of while you're singing, and you don't want to
- 23:57Speaker 2: get like jarred and off track. It is absolutely I
- 24:00Speaker 2: have all respect for any artist that gets out there
- 24:03Speaker 2: and sings the anthem because it is I'm no.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Joke, and that that like clapback that happens in the arena,
- 24:07Speaker 1: whether it's empty or there's one hundred thousand people in it. Like, obviously,
- 24:12Speaker 1: singing is way more difficult than just talking. But I
- 24:14Speaker 1: got to the prom I just had to ignore them, Yea.
- 24:16Speaker 1: I had to like a five ways on because there's
- 24:19Speaker 1: times I'd be like, yeah, why why did I Later?
- 24:25Speaker 1: So when we get that, we get the single tomorrow,
- 24:28Speaker 1: the Q and A. There's five more songs after that.
- 24:31Speaker 1: What what is your timeline as far as release?
- 24:35Speaker 2: So Tomorrow's end Badly, Q and A is the EP,
- 24:38Speaker 2: Tomorrow is the single and Badly, but the release timeline
- 24:41Speaker 2: is just over the next couple of months.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I was.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I was hesitant to release during the holidays, as all
- 24:46Speaker 2: artists are told to be. They're like, oh, you know,
- 24:48Speaker 2: your management will be like, well, it's holidays and I'm
- 24:50Speaker 2: always gonna listen. But in reality, people get their fix
- 24:52Speaker 2: at Christmas music here and there, but they are still
- 24:54Speaker 2: listening to music. Nobody's just stopped listening to music and
- 24:58Speaker 2: strictly listening to Christmas. So we decided, you know what,
- 25:01Speaker 2: this could be a good time. It was a good
- 25:03Speaker 2: time to release, and figured now to roll with it.
- 25:06Speaker 2: So here between now and then beginning of the year
- 25:09Speaker 2: next year, I think all of the six on the
- 25:11Speaker 2: EP are going to be released.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Is it does it tell a story because you said
- 25:16Speaker 1: Q and A is obviously less ten years so end badly?
- 25:18Speaker 1: And then is it almost like chapters.
- 25:21Speaker 2: With the titles essentially? Yes? Yeah, okay, yeah.
- 25:25Speaker 1: I'm not trying to take too much.
- 25:26Speaker 2: No, No, I don't have this big secret. No, there's
- 25:28Speaker 2: no big surprise there are. They do make sense to
- 25:32Speaker 2: an extent, but I will say there might be like
- 25:34Speaker 2: a song released. They're not all love songs right, Like
- 25:37Speaker 2: one the title is motoral Eraser and it's just talking
- 25:41Speaker 2: about the time of my life when I had a
- 25:42Speaker 2: motoral eraser, not to age myself entirely, but like, listen,
- 25:45Speaker 2: there are people my age listen to music. So maybe
- 25:49Speaker 2: I'm not singing about the I don't know TikTok trends,
- 25:52Speaker 2: but you know, motoroial eraser was a time of my
- 25:54Speaker 2: life of like it was just so care free. It
- 25:56Speaker 2: was so much easier. Everyone just cared about keeping that
- 25:58Speaker 2: motoral eraser clipped in the front of your sophie shorts
- 26:01Speaker 2: and that was what it was. So it's just it's
- 26:03Speaker 2: not all love songs, so it doesn't necessarily follow a
- 26:05Speaker 2: timeline because I would have released that one first, right,
- 26:07Speaker 2: but they all do. It will end with I'm happy
- 26:13Speaker 2: is a mother and a wife?
- 26:14Speaker 1: So well, so now I got to ask, because you
- 26:16Speaker 1: brought up TikTok dances, are is there going to be
- 26:19Speaker 1: TikTok dances to these songs?
- 26:20Speaker 2: Somebody can say, are you agreeing to start that TikTok bread?
- 26:28Speaker 2: That was so nice of you to see you do
- 26:31Speaker 2: it to my slow sad songs. You know, that was
- 26:34Speaker 2: actually a talk during the meetings when we're talking about
- 26:36Speaker 2: what songs to release. It was brought back and forth
- 26:38Speaker 2: of like, look, it doesn't make sense for you to
- 26:40Speaker 2: release a heartbreak song. You know, you're publicly you're married
- 26:44Speaker 2: with a child, you seem to be very happy, so
- 26:46Speaker 2: who are you to release a sad song? And I
- 26:47Speaker 2: was like, hey, that's not fair because I was sad
- 26:50Speaker 2: at one point. I was very sad girl at one time.
- 26:52Speaker 2: So and that still was a part of my life
- 26:55Speaker 2: that lived just the same as I would have stopped
- 26:56Speaker 2: music and just been a happy, you know, wife to
- 26:59Speaker 2: my husband if if that weren't such a big part
- 27:01Speaker 2: of my life prior, you know. So it's kind of
- 27:03Speaker 2: honoring parts of my life and remembering that just because
- 27:05Speaker 2: I might be happy in my relationship now doesn't mean
- 27:07Speaker 2: that it didn't take so many years of figuring out
- 27:11Speaker 2: life experiences, not just love but like life to get
- 27:14Speaker 2: to appreciate the life that I have with my husband
- 27:17Speaker 2: and my son, you know, and be content in this
- 27:19Speaker 2: lifestyle so well not this lifestyle content, you know, being
- 27:23Speaker 2: a wife and a mother now and not touring as much.
- 27:25Speaker 2: So there's a lot of life lessons in it. It's
- 27:28Speaker 2: not necessarily all just representative of who I am right
- 27:30Speaker 2: now in twenty twenty four, but it tells a story
- 27:34Speaker 2: for sure.
- 27:34Speaker 1: That's awesome. Can't wait to hear it.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you for having me
