- 0:00Katie: In this episode, you'll discover the unexpected root cause that's secretly driving whether you get pregnant that no fertility workup ever checks.
- 0:10Welcome to the Finally Get Pregnant Naturally podcast, the podcast helping women identify the real reasons you haven't conceived or stayed pregnant so you and your partner can finally grow the family of your dreams.
- 0:24I'm your host, Dr.
- 0:25Katie Wood.
- 0:26Let's dive in, shall we?
- 0:28Katie: Welcome to day three of the Fall Fertility Reset Challenge.
- 0:32Katie: So far, we've covered why, quote-unquote, normal does not mean that nothing is wrong, and why both partners' blood work only ever skimmed the surface.
- 0:42Katie: Today, I want to take you to the place I check that surprises my clients the most, your gut health.
- 0:50Katie: Because when I tell them this is where we're starting, the reaction is almost always the same.
- 0:56Katie: "Wait, what does that have to do with my fertility?"
- 0:59Katie: And I'm here to tell you everything.
- 1:02Katie: Your gut has everything to do with your fertility outcomes.
- 1:06Katie: And here's what most women and couples are never told.
- 1:10Katie: Your gut is upstream of the hormones you're working so hard to balance.
- 1:17Katie: And the way I actually look at it isn't guessing.
- 1:21Katie: It's a functional stool test that maps out your gut bacteria, hidden infections, inflammation, and how well you're breaking down and absorbing food.
- 1:33Katie: It helps decide how you process and clear estrogen, so when it's out of balance, estrogen doesn't exit the body the way it should, and it can recirculate into the body.
- 1:45Katie: It's where a huge portion of your immune system actually lives.
- 1:50Katie: So when it's inflamed, that inflammation doesn't stay put.
- 1:54Katie: It travels, and it shows up in the exact places that matter for conceiving and holding a pregnancy.
- 2:02Katie: And it's how you actually absorb the nutrients your fertility depends on.
- 2:08Katie: You can be eating perfectly, taking every high-quality supplement on the market, and still not be absorbing what your body needs, because the problem isn't always what you eat.
- 2:20Katie: It's what's actually being absorbed.
- 2:24Katie: So you can spend months chasing a hormone number all you want, or trying one more protocol and never get momentum, because the thing driving the imbalance was never the hormone itself.
- 2:37Katie: It was further upstream, your gut, and nobody ever checked this.
- 2:43Katie: So this brings me to one of my most recent client success stories.
- 2:51Katie: And this is a couple where, you know, I'm just gonna talk about her picture for now.
- 2:57Katie: But they experienced a miscarriage and two failed IVF transfers.
- 3:04Katie: When we looked at her gut and also her blood work, her CRP level was a sixteen.
- 3:14Katie: We want CRP to be under one.
- 3:18Katie: That is a marker of inflammation in your body.
- 3:23Katie: Her stool test confirmed exactly what we were seeing in that CRP level.
- 3:29Katie: We found H.
- 3:30Katie: pylori present, bacterial overgrowths, and an immune system that was on high alert.
- 3:39Katie: It was off the charts, okay?
- 3:43Katie: And once we addressed this, they had one more embryo left, a mosaic embryo.
- 3:52Katie: They did not have high expectations with the mosaic embryo.
- 3:57Katie: They did not think it was gonna stick, but it was their last one, and they wanted to go ahead with the transfer.
- 4:03Katie: They wanted to close that chapter We had already done things to address her gut and to really, really help bring down that CRP level.
- 4:13Katie: Well, that little mosaic embryo, they transferred one embryo.
- 4:19Katie: It split.
- 4:20Katie: It took.
- 4:21Katie: It stuck.
- 4:22Katie: She is now pregnant with twins.
- 4:25Katie: Okay?
- 4:26Katie: Like, it just gives me chills thinking about that.
- 4:30Katie: And that was just within four months of working together, and actually she did her transfer on month three of working together.
- 4:38Katie: And that's why my immediate focus with my clients isn't always directed towards your hormones.
- 4:46Katie: I start here in the gut with a stool test because if it's inflamed, dysregulated, or quietly infected, it will keep undermining everything you build on top of it.
- 4:59Katie: Fix the root, and the things downstream finally have a chance to fall into place.
- 5:04Katie: Or also I like to say you would never build a house without first building the foundation to hold the house.
- 5:13Katie: Okay?
- 5:14Katie: And your gut health, that's a big part of your foundation.
- 5:18Katie: So if you've been chasing your hormone numbers and protocols and you still can't figure out why nothing is holding, this may be the missing piece for you, and Decode Your Fertility was made exactly for this.
- 5:33Katie: It's my fertility root cause testing framework that looks upstream past the surface level labs, past even the pristine, optimal-looking labs to find what's actually driving your body's fertility struggle so you finally know what your body specifically needs.
