- 0:21Welcome back to the PTT Music Podcast!
- 0:24I am Jordan Sterling, here with Ava Brooks, and today we are diving into high
- 0:29performance psychology, presence, and how to harness your internal energy to bring
- 0:35out your absolute best in every area of life.
- 0:39That is right, Jordan!
- 0:40As behavioral experts, one of our favorite topics is understanding how the human
- 0:46mind processes excitement and high stakes moments, and how we can direct that
- 0:51heightened state into pure, focused confidence.
- 0:55When you step into a room where you are called to lead, innovate,
- 0:59or inspire, your physiological activation is actually your greatest asset.
- 1:04It truly is, Ava.
- 1:06In positive behavioral psychology, we look at how bodily energy is interpreted.
- 1:11When your heart rate elevates or your focus sharpens, that is not something to be
- 1:16resisted.
- 1:17That is your brain and body gearing up for peak performance.
- 1:22Think of an elite athlete before a championship game or an artist stepping onto a
- 1:26massive stage.
- 1:28That surge of energy is pure power waiting to be directed.
- 1:32Exactly!
- 1:33And understanding how observers perceive us makes a massive difference in how we
- 1:38step into those moments.
- 1:40When someone is preparing to deliver a major presentation or lead an important
- 1:45executive session, there is a fascinating psychological concept at play called the
- 1:51illusion of transparency.
- 1:53That concept is so empowering.
- 1:56It comes from the landmark nineteen ninety eight study by Thomas Gilovich,
- 2:00Kenneth Savitsky, and Victoria Medvec.
- 2:03They set out to investigate how accurately speakers estimated their audience's
- 2:07perception of their internal physical state.
- 2:11Yes!
- 2:11They conducted systematic experiments where speakers delivered speeches after
- 2:16experiencing elevated physical excitement.
- 2:19The researchers asked the speakers to predict how many audience members would notice
- 2:24their internal focus or heightened physiological state.
- 2:28And what they uncovered was extraordinary.
- 2:31The speakers consistently predicted that over fifty percent of observers could spot
- 2:36their subtle inner focus or physiological excitement.
- 2:40They truly believed their internal state was broadcast clearly on their faces and
- 2:45throughout their body language.
- 2:47Right, but in reality, fewer than twenty percent of observers noticed anything at
- 2:52all!
- 2:53Under two out of ten observers picked up on those subtle internal shifts.
- 2:58That research proves scientifically that our internal feelings are far more private
- 3:04than we imagine, which gives us incredible psychological leverage over how we
- 3:09project strength, authority, and warmth.
- 3:13It really does.
- 3:14Psychologists explain that we naturally anchor heavily on our own internal
- 3:19experience because we feel our elevated pulse or sharpened awareness so vividly from
- 3:25the inside.
- 3:26But to the room around us, people simply see a poised, articulate,
- 3:31and well prepared professional radiating energy and capability.
- 3:36I remember working with a high level executive who was preparing for a massive
- 3:40international keynote.
- 3:42Right before stepping out, he felt that intense surge of focus and physiological
- 3:48activation.
- 3:49Instead of misinterpreting that surge, he recognized it as peak readiness.
- 3:55He paused, anchored his posture, and stepped onto stage with absolute purpose.
- 4:01The audience saw pure authority, vision, and warmth.
- 4:06Afterward, board members and colleagues commented on how grounded and commanding his
- 4:11presence was throughout the entire address!
- 4:16That is such a clear example of positive behavior principles in practice!
- 4:21When you realize that your internal energy is your private fuel,
- 4:25you convert it straight into enthusiasm, authority, and genuine human connection.
- 4:30You move from self monitoring to outward impact.
- 4:33And that outward impact is deeply connected to how we condition our daily
- 4:38environment and habits.
- 4:39Positive psychology shows that our mental state before high stakes moments is built
- 4:45in our everyday routines.
- 4:47That is where purposeful sound and mindset techniques come together so beautifully.
- 4:53Over at PTT Music, when we listen to tracks like "Every Day",
- 4:59it emphasizes the transformative power of daily consistency,
- 5:03positive momentum, and setting a purposeful morning mindset.
- 5:08That message in "Every Day" is essential.
- 5:12When you intentionally build positive daily habits, you condition your brain to
- 5:17operate from a place of readiness and strength.
- 5:20You do not wait for a big moment to find your confidence; you construct it piece by
- 5:25piece every single day.
- 5:27The music acts as a physical anchor, reinforcing those high performance neuro
- 5:32pathways every time you hear it.
- 5:34It really does, Jordan.
- 5:35When you prime your mind each morning with empowering music and positive reflection,
- 5:41you build an unshakeable foundation.
- 5:44And that leads directly into how we interact with the people around us.
- 5:48That brings us to another inspiring song from PTT Music, "Friends".
- 5:53From a behavioral standpoint, high performers never operate in isolation.
- 5:58They thrive on strong support systems and shared positive energy.
- 6:04"Friends" captures that vital truth so powerfully.
- 6:08Surrounding yourself with genuine, supportive people elevates your baseline
- 6:12emotional state.
- 6:14When you share goals, celebrate breakthroughs, and lift each other up,
- 6:18you create a shared resonance of confidence.
- 6:21"Friends" reminds us that strong, authentic connections reinforce our inner
- 6:26resilience and keep us inspired on our journey toward excellence.
- 6:30Exactly!
- 6:31Songs like "Every Day" and "Friends" are powerful behavioral tools.
- 6:35They align your daily focus, elevate your baseline mood, and reinforce your natural
- 6:41confidence so that whenever a major opportunity arrives, you step up with joy and
- 6:46authority.
- 6:47To help our listeners put these principles into immediate practice,
- 6:51let us walk through a powerful ten second positive behavioral reset that anyone can
- 6:57use before stepping into a key meeting, speech, or high performance moment.
- 7:02Ava, let us share those steps.
- 7:04First, physically anchor your posture.
- 7:07Stand tall, pull your shoulders back and down, open your chest,
- 7:13and take a deep, slow grounding breath through your nose.
- 7:18Owning your physical space immediately signals your nervous system that you are
- 7:23safe, confident, and in total control.
- 7:27Second, lock into your core purpose.
- 7:30Shift your focus completely off yourself and onto the positive value you are about
- 7:35to deliver to others.
- 7:37Remind yourself that your message matter and that your energy is a gift to the room.
- 7:43Step forward with intentional poise and let your outward strength lead the way.
- 7:48Because people naturally respond to your positive energy, your clear vision,
- 7:53and the authentic strength you bring into the room.
- 7:56When you align your daily habits, surround yourself with great support,
- 8:01and master your internal focus, your potential is truly limitless!
