- 2:48Speaker 2: She joins us this morning in the General Construction Studios.
- 2:50Speaker 5: Jen, good morning. Welcome back to the show.
- 2:52Speaker 6: Good morning.
- 2:53Speaker 5: And you have with you, I'll let you introduce our
- 2:55Speaker 5: guest here.
- 2:55Speaker 7: This is Sala Amin.
- 2:57Speaker 5: Sala, welcome to the show. Thank you for being here.
- 2:59Speaker 6: Thank you for having me.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I'm going to have you come way in closer to
- 3:01Speaker 2: that microphone. You're kind of a soft speaker. Sala, it's
- 3:05Speaker 2: great to have you on the show here as well.
- 3:08Speaker 2: And we also have with us via the Guarantee Bank hotline,
- 3:13Speaker 2: direct from Atlanta, GA, filmmaker Aaron Strand. Aaron, good morning
- 3:18Speaker 2: and welcome.
- 3:18Speaker 5: To the show.
- 3:20Speaker 8: Thank you so much for having me. Happy to be here.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Aaron, your film, Withdrawal, is going to be shown at
- 3:25Speaker 2: the Auburn Arts Center in St. Albans Thursday night, 7 o'clock.
- 3:28Speaker 2: A short film that Jen did will air before that.
- 3:29Speaker 2: We'll talk to her about that in a moment. Talk
- 3:31Speaker 2: about your film, though.
- 3:33Speaker 8: Of course, Withdrawal is a independent feature film that premiered
- 3:38Speaker 8: in 2025 at the Atlanta Film Festival. It is a
- 3:41Speaker 8: film inspired by my own experience as a former opioid addict.
- 3:45Speaker 8: It follows two star-crossed artists who have to withdraw from
- 3:48Speaker 8: heroin overnight to try to save their relationship. It's a
- 3:51Speaker 8: very personal story to me. It was made by an
- 3:54Speaker 8: incredible team of independent artists here in Georgia. We went
- 3:57Speaker 8: through the festival circuit in 2025, won a number of
- 4:00Speaker 8: awards all over the world. But 2026, I have been
- 4:03Speaker 8: touring this film to independent cinemas all across America because
- 4:07Speaker 8: I truly believe that the future of film is community based.
- 4:11Speaker 8: And I can't wait to bring it to West Virginia
- 4:13Speaker 8: this Thursday.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Talk about the process of coming up with the whole
- 4:17Speaker 2: idea behind this film and the whole screenplay.
- 4:19Speaker 5: Because like you said, it's very personal to you.
- 4:22Speaker 8: Yeah, of course. You know, I mean, I've been I've
- 4:24Speaker 8: been working. Well, I'll say it this way. I start
- 4:26Speaker 8: off as an actor. I had a very successful beginning
- 4:29Speaker 8: of my career as an actor. I went to NYU for,
- 4:31Speaker 8: for drama school. I started working in the theater in
- 4:34Speaker 8: New York city. I worked off Broadway and I basically
- 4:37Speaker 8: lit all those early career opportunities on fire because of
- 4:40Speaker 8: my addiction. I ended up homeless and I had to
- 4:43Speaker 8: come back to my hometown of Athens, Georgia. And when
- 4:45Speaker 8: I was back in Athens, Georgia, I was removed from
- 4:47Speaker 8: that environment of, of, of theater and excitement that I
- 4:51Speaker 8: had like identified with. And all of a sudden I
- 4:53Speaker 8: was working at a grocery store. And I did not
- 4:56Speaker 8: knowing what to do with my life. And I had
- 4:58Speaker 8: to ask myself the question, do I really love this
- 5:00Speaker 8: art form or is it time to do something else?
- 5:02Speaker 8: And I decided I really love this art form. And
- 5:04Speaker 8: that began this transition away from being in front of
- 5:07Speaker 8: camera to working behind the camera and trying to develop
- 5:10Speaker 8: as a storyteller and as a director and as someone
- 5:12Speaker 8: who could help other actors to tell their stories. And
- 5:16Speaker 8: it took about 10 years of a lot of hard
- 5:19Speaker 8: work and a lot of humility in order to get
- 5:21Speaker 8: kind of good at it. But finally, at the end
- 5:24Speaker 8: of that process, I was able to make this film that,
- 5:27Speaker 8: you know, it's not an autobiographical film. It's not the
- 5:29Speaker 8: Aaron Strand story here, but it is a film that's
- 5:32Speaker 8: heavily informed by my own experience. And then I was
- 5:35Speaker 8: also able to include so many other people that are
- 5:39Speaker 8: in recovery that have their own perspective on addiction. And
- 5:42Speaker 8: they were able to bring themselves. And we were able
- 5:45Speaker 8: to create a really positive, very healthy, affirming work environment
- 5:49Speaker 8: for for all those people. And it was a real
- 5:51Speaker 8: it was a real joy to make.
- 5:53Speaker 5: And, uh, Sala, am I pronouncing that right? Yes, you are.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Are you at the group Help West Virginia?
- 5:58Speaker 8: Yes.
- 5:58Speaker 5: Right. Talk about your, talk about your work here.
- 6:00Speaker 6: Okay.
- 6:01Speaker 9: So, uh, I'm the director for Help for West Virginia
- 6:06Speaker 9: and it's our state's, um, substance use disorder and mental
- 6:10Speaker 9: health helpline so like me you know having lived experience
- 6:14Speaker 9: myself i also like see this firsthand like how this
- 6:19Speaker 9: is such a big need to be able to um
- 6:23Speaker 9: to be able to just showcase this movie and just
- 6:26Speaker 9: showcase how big of a need that this is in
- 6:30Speaker 9: this state for people to receive assistance with substance use,
- 6:35Speaker 9: go to treatment, know that the resources are available. Because
- 6:40Speaker 9: I think one of the biggest barriers in this state
- 6:44Speaker 9: is just not being aware that the resources are there.
- 6:48Speaker 2: We hear this a lot about the problem with the
- 6:52Speaker 2: with drugs in West Virginia, really across the country, but
- 6:55Speaker 2: we'll focus on West Virginia right now. Are we making
- 6:58Speaker 2: any headway here in your opinion?
- 7:00Speaker 9: I think so. I think back in 2013, when I
- 7:03Speaker 9: first got clean, I had to go out of state
- 7:09Speaker 9: to receive treatment. And now coming back, like having moved
- 7:15Speaker 9: back in the state, I'm just so proud at the
- 7:19Speaker 9: fact that West Virginia is kind of like leading that
- 7:23Speaker 9: for other states. Like, For instance, there's no other state
- 7:29Speaker 9: in America that has a program like Help for West
- 7:31Speaker 9: Virginia to be just that, you know, connection for a
- 7:37Speaker 9: main line for people to call that we can get
- 7:39Speaker 9: into treatment right away.
- 7:41Speaker 10: Okay.
- 7:42Speaker 2: It's because, again, we've battled this for so long, and
- 7:45Speaker 2: it's changed. You know, it was at first it was,
- 7:49Speaker 2: you know, it was the pill, you know, the pill mill,
- 7:51Speaker 2: things like that, and that kind of. Transition to something else.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Now we're dealing with fentanyl out there, which is a
- 7:55Speaker 2: completely different animal altogether, as you well know.
- 7:58Speaker 6: Oh, absolutely.
- 7:59Speaker 9: Yeah, it's unfortunate because with fentanyl involved, it's not even
- 8:06Speaker 9: giving the young kids a chance at recovery because... They'll
- 8:11Speaker 9: try something one time. You know how when you're young,
- 8:15Speaker 9: you want to do something one time. You're like, oh,
- 8:19Speaker 9: my friends are doing it. It's so cool.
- 8:20Speaker 6: They do it at a party.
- 8:22Speaker 9: They have no idea that fentanyl is even in the
- 8:25Speaker 9: drug that they're doing, and they die. So it's like
- 8:28Speaker 9: before even knowing that they're going to develop an addiction problem,
- 8:34Speaker 9: they don't even have a chance at recovering because of fentanyl.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Jen, I want to bring you in because you've been
- 8:40Speaker 2: here on the show in the past. And as part
- 8:43Speaker 2: of this film that they're going to be showing at
- 8:45Speaker 2: the Auburn on Thursday night, you did a short film
- 8:48Speaker 2: that's going to be shown before that, I.
- 8:49Speaker 5: Think, right?
- 8:50Speaker 7: Yeah, I did. I also, Aaron and I met through
- 8:54Speaker 7: a program called Non-Dependent or Non-D. And so we, him
- 9:00Speaker 7: and I connected just because we were talking about trying
- 9:02Speaker 7: to get movies distribution in different avenues and trying to
- 9:06Speaker 7: bring things from a local standpoint. And so this is
- 9:09Speaker 7: kind of like part of this experiment. So this is
- 9:11Speaker 7: why I encouraged him to come to West Virginia. And
- 9:14Speaker 7: he immediately locked on because I think, A, we have
- 9:17Speaker 7: a good group of people here that obviously could benefit
- 9:20Speaker 7: from something positive. Because all of us say all the time,
- 9:24Speaker 7: I can't handle another movie about drugs or addiction. But
- 9:29Speaker 7: there's nothing that's really been positive. So it's a big
- 9:33Speaker 7: deal to have something that actually has a positive light
- 9:35Speaker 7: and we're having positive conversations from it. And so that
- 9:38Speaker 7: was a big deal to me. We're just throwing in
- 9:40Speaker 7: one of my short films in the beginning just to
- 9:43Speaker 7: give some laughs.
- 9:43Speaker 5: So talk about your short film.
- 9:47Speaker 7: It's called Bad Cop. It's starring Ashley Stennett, which I
- 9:51Speaker 7: know some people locally know him pretty well. And then
- 9:54Speaker 7: it was directed by Kevin Adkins. So it's just a lighthearted,
- 9:57Speaker 7: fun comedy that we're going to show beforehand.
- 10:00Speaker 10: Movie.
- 10:01Speaker 7: So we'll make it a pretty fun night. It'll be
- 10:04Speaker 7: in St. Albans at Albans Art Center down on Main Street,
- 10:08Speaker 7: 7 o'clock on Thursday. And Aaron is going to come
- 10:12Speaker 7: in for a Q & A afterward, and then Sawwa
- 10:14Speaker 7: is going to be hosting with me. And, you know,
- 10:18Speaker 7: we're going to have a really fun night.
- 10:20Speaker 2: So I have a question for you via the text
- 10:22Speaker 2: line here. Somebody asked, where can a person go that's
- 10:25Speaker 2: addicted to crack? It seems like it just fell off
- 10:28Speaker 2: the map, still exists. Everything is for meth and heroin now.
- 10:31Speaker 6: No. Okay.
- 10:34Speaker 9: So crack kind of is, when I do my data
- 10:39Speaker 9: every week, crack is actually rising. I'm seeing more people
- 10:44Speaker 9: doing crack, but it, All the treatment centers that we
- 10:48Speaker 9: work with accept people that are struggling with crack, cocaine, meth, heroin.
- 10:54Speaker 9: They don't have to be just struggling with heroin or
- 10:57Speaker 9: opiates in order to receive treatment.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Okay.
- 11:01Speaker 5: Aaron, have you been to West Virginia before?
- 11:03Speaker 8: I have never been to West Virginia in my life.
- 11:06Speaker 5: All right.
- 11:07Speaker 2: So you know there are certain things you have to
- 11:09Speaker 2: do when you come to West Virginia, Jen. I'm going
- 11:10Speaker 2: to depend on you two to help me. You've got
- 11:12Speaker 2: to take him to Tudor's. Yes.
- 11:16Speaker 5: Are you familiar, Erin? Are you familiar with Tudor's?
- 11:19Speaker 8: No, I can't wait to learn. What is Tudor?
- 11:22Speaker 5: What is Tudor?
- 11:24Speaker 2: Tudor is, it's Tudor's biscuit world. And it's, and you're
- 11:28Speaker 2: a Southern guy. I mean, you know all about biscuits,
- 11:30Speaker 2: I'm sure.
- 11:31Speaker 11: Okay.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Well, we have, you know, we have all of the sausage, bacon,
- 11:35Speaker 2: and the other. So yeah, it's, so you definitely got
- 11:38Speaker 2: to go to Tudor's. Also, we got to get him
- 11:39Speaker 2: a pepperoni roll.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:40Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I'm actually going to leave that.
- 11:42Speaker 7: So Jay Silverman from Have Fun West Virginia, he's, been
- 11:46Speaker 7: courteous enough a to come and then he's also donating
- 11:49Speaker 7: like a hundred dollar visa card for a raffle like
- 11:52Speaker 7: for the night which is really nice of him but
- 11:54Speaker 7: we're gonna leave jay in charge of giving you uh
- 11:57Speaker 7: finding you a pepperoni roll because jay is like the
- 11:59Speaker 7: foodie man of west virginia now all right are you.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Familiar with pepperoni rolls aaron I am not.
- 12:06Speaker 10: Okay.
- 12:07Speaker 9: I am not.
- 12:07Speaker 5: All right.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Well, let me, well, I mean, it's a, it's a,
- 12:09Speaker 2: it's a West Virginia, it's a West Virginia, you know, thing.
- 12:12Speaker 2: So basically the whole story behind pepperoni rolls is, is that, uh,
- 12:15Speaker 2: you know, years and years ago, coal miners struggled with, with,
- 12:19Speaker 2: with what they could take in the coal mines with them,
- 12:21Speaker 2: you know, that would, that would stay, you know, fresh
- 12:22Speaker 2: and whatever. And so somebody came up with the idea
- 12:25Speaker 2: to have bread with just pepperoni stuck in it. You know,
- 12:29Speaker 2: they put it, so it's, it's a, it's a roll.
- 12:31Speaker 2: And it's got pepperoni in it. It really came out
- 12:33Speaker 2: of northern West Virginia, primarily north central West Virginia.
- 12:36Speaker 5: And it's an institution. So you handle those two things
- 12:39Speaker 5: and you will officially be a West Virginian at least
- 12:42Speaker 5: for one day, Aaron.
- 12:43Speaker 12: Wow.
- 12:44Speaker 8: Well, I'm honored and excited by the opportunity. And yeah,
- 12:48Speaker 8: I'm going to be making a beautiful drive. up there
- 12:51Speaker 8: on thursday so uh i'll get i'll get a full
- 12:53Speaker 8: a full experience i can't wait.
- 12:55Speaker 2: All right and i'm i'm excited to have you on
- 12:57Speaker 2: the show knowing that you're from athens because this is
- 12:59Speaker 2: kind of a rarity around here but i am the
- 13:00Speaker 2: world's biggest georgia bulldog fan just so you.
- 13:03Speaker 5: Know what yeah oh go dog uh.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Yeah mark mark safe from hearing roll tide after saturday
- 13:10Speaker 2: night i'm a i was born in georgia and i
- 13:13Speaker 2: i became a georgia fan when herschel walker played for
- 13:15Speaker 2: him and i've been a georgia fan ever since so
- 13:16Speaker 2: i'm like the only georgia fan that i know around
- 13:18Speaker 2: here but uh Oh, that's beautiful.
- 13:20Speaker 12: Well, roll, tears, roll.
- 13:22Speaker 5: Okay. Sorry, I've got another question for you.
- 13:25Speaker 2: It says, I've read several stories about an increase nationwide
- 13:28Speaker 2: of animal shelter dogs and cats being brought into drug
- 13:31Speaker 2: rehab centers, not just nursing homes and prisons, but into
- 13:33Speaker 2: drug rehabilitation facilities as therapy animals. Is this something that
- 13:37Speaker 2: different rehab centers could implement?
- 13:40Speaker 9: I do think that's another big barrier for someone receiving
- 13:45Speaker 9: treatment because they have no one to leave their animals
- 13:47Speaker 9: with and they're not going to leave their animals to
- 13:50Speaker 9: go to treatment. So I do think there are some
- 13:56Speaker 9: treatment centers. that are working to get emotional support animals
- 14:02Speaker 9: in there. But there's a lot of, it's a problem
- 14:07Speaker 9: because it's like, okay, well, somebody else might be allergic.
- 14:11Speaker 9: That's a patient. So that's why it's not, you know,
- 14:14Speaker 9: you can't.
- 14:15Speaker 5: Yeah, it's understandable. All right. Well, Erin, it's been a
- 14:19Speaker 5: pleasure to have you on the show today.
- 14:21Speaker 2: And again, your film is going to, it's going to
- 14:23Speaker 2: be screened Thursday night, seven o'clock at the Albany.
- 14:26Speaker 5: Art Center.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Hope you enjoy your time in West Virginia. Oh, by
- 14:29Speaker 2: the way, Jen, somebody said don't forget Spring Hill Pastry
- 14:32Speaker 2: hot dogs. So you got to get him Spring Hill.
- 14:34Speaker 7: Wow, we're going to feed you until you explode, Aaron.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Come to West Virginia for the culture. Leave with diabetes.
- 14:42Speaker 2: That's what we do here in West Virginia.
- 14:45Speaker 10: All right.
- 14:46Speaker 5: By the way, Spring Hero Pastry Hot Dogs are not
- 14:48Speaker 5: actual hot dogs.
- 14:49Speaker 11: They're amazing, though.
- 14:50Speaker 5: They're a pastry. So just so you know. All right.
- 14:53Speaker 5: Seven o'clock, Albany Arts Center. Aaron, I appreciate you being here.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Thanks a lot. Best of luck to you and love
- 14:58Speaker 2: to have you on the show. Maybe at some other point, anytime,
- 15:00Speaker 2: you're always welcome on the show.
- 15:01Speaker 5: And go Dawgs. Go Dawgs.
- 15:03Speaker 8: Thank you so much.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Aaron Strand and also Salwa Amin. Appreciate you being here
- 15:08Speaker 2: from West Virginia. Jen, it's always a pleasure to have
- 15:10Speaker 2: you on the show as well. Thursday night, seven o'clock
- 15:12Speaker 2: at the Albany Arts Center.
- 15:13Speaker 7: Thanks for having us.
- 15:14Speaker 5: All right. Thanks again.
- 15:15Speaker 2: 923, Speedy Bevins coming up next on The Voice of
- 15:17Speaker 2: Charleston WCHS.
- 15:19Speaker 13: The Dave Allen Show is brought to you in part
- 15:22Speaker 13: by the Eric J.
- 15:23Speaker 14: Tarr family of businesses, including the all-new Snap Fitness and
- 15:27Speaker 14: Generations Physical Therapy of Nitro.
- 15:29Speaker 6: This is J.B.
- 15:30Speaker 14: Akers, your delegate in the 55th District in Kanawha County.
- 15:33Speaker 14: We know how polarizing politics has become. More than ever,
- 15:36Speaker 14: we need common sense leaders in government who focus on
- 15:38Speaker 14: what really matters to you and your family. I've built
- 15:41Speaker 14: a record on being that kind of person. Whether it's
- 15:43Speaker 14: initiatives to protect children or legislation to help local small

- 17:55Speaker 2: up a little bit later on. Jeff Jenkins with the
- 17:57Speaker 2: story this morning posted at wvmetronews.com. The legendary Frank Gardenia.
- 18:01Speaker 2: has passed, 72 years old, of course, former play-by-play guy
- 18:04Speaker 2: for Marshall, later East Carolina, worked a long time for
- 18:07Speaker 2: Penn State. Another legendary broadcaster, Speedy Bevins' new Frank Will,
- 18:11Speaker 2: and he joins us this morning on the Guaranteed Bank Hotline.
- 18:13Speaker 5: Good morning, Speed. Welcome to the show.
- 18:15Speaker 10: Hey, Dave.
- 18:16Speaker 12: Good morning to you.
- 18:18Speaker 10: I know Frank had been sick a long time, but still,
- 18:20Speaker 10: it's a sad day to talk about the passing of
- 18:24Speaker 10: a good friend and an outstanding broadcaster.
- 18:27Speaker 5: When did you first meet Frank?
- 18:29Speaker 10: I met Frank at Marshall. Frank was a year ahead
- 18:33Speaker 10: of me in the broadcasting course. And I was a freshman.
- 18:38Speaker 10: He was a sophomore. We had a couple of classes together.
- 18:41Speaker 10: And it was very early on that in a group
- 18:45Speaker 10: of outstanding broadcasters that went through Marshall during that time,
- 18:48Speaker 10: Frank was among the leaders. And he not only demonstrated
- 18:52Speaker 10: it in the classroom, but he demonstrated it by doing
- 18:56Speaker 10: a lot of things in radio while the rest of
- 18:58Speaker 10: us were having fun on the weekend.
- 19:01Speaker 2: I mean, one thing about Frank, and I didn't know
- 19:03Speaker 2: him as well as you did, but I can tell you,
- 19:05Speaker 2: he was a worker, and nobody worked harder at his
- 19:08Speaker 2: broadcasting craft than what Frank Gardini did.
- 19:11Speaker 10: I don't know when, number one, the guy studied, number two,
- 19:15Speaker 10: when the guy slept, because we were full-time students, but
- 19:19Speaker 10: on the weekends, he did West Virginia State football on Saturdays,
- 19:23Speaker 10: On Sundays, he worked on air shift at WGNT Radio
- 19:29Speaker 10: in Huntington. I mean, he was always, and with Frank,
- 19:33Speaker 10: I'm not going to say he was always working. I'm
- 19:36Speaker 10: going to say Frank was always doing something on the radio.
- 19:39Speaker 2: One thing that I didn't know, and I'm sure you did,
- 19:42Speaker 2: but I didn't know this. This is contained in Jeff's story.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Frank was the first Marshall grad to be the play-by-play
- 19:48Speaker 2: guy for the Thundering Herd since World War II.
- 19:51Speaker 10: Was not a.
- 19:56Speaker 10: I will never challenge Mr. Jenkins, but I think one
- 20:01Speaker 10: year Mike Kirtner did Marshall play-by-play, and I'm pretty sure Kirtner...
- 20:09Speaker 10: graduated Marshall. I know he was a student there. Gosh,
- 20:13Speaker 10: I hate to challenge the grandpapa there.
- 20:16Speaker 2: And of course, Frank went on to other things. I
- 20:19Speaker 2: mentioned East Carolina and Penn State, but you know, Marshall
- 20:22Speaker 2: was his first love, Steve.
- 20:23Speaker 10: Marshall was his, you know, you think Frank spent more
- 20:28Speaker 10: time at Penn State than he did at Marshall, but
- 20:30Speaker 10: he is still remembered for his time at Marshall. And
- 20:34Speaker 10: I'll tell you something else. there was a baseball coach
- 20:38Speaker 10: at Huntington East High School by the name of Dan Shoemaker.
- 20:41Speaker 10: And Dan Shoemaker was one of those guys early on
- 20:45Speaker 10: that saw the potential of a flagellating cable channel called ESPN.
- 20:51Speaker 10: And Dan Shoemaker got out of coaching and got into
- 20:55Speaker 10: regional television production. And the guy he chose to do
- 20:59Speaker 10: most of his games was Frank Gardena. And Dave, there
- 21:03Speaker 10: were many Saturday nights in football season, I would be
- 21:06Speaker 10: watching a game, and Frank was doing it for ESPN.
- 21:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I remember that.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Well, we're talking with Speedy Bevins, and much like you,
- 21:15Speaker 2: as you kind of alluded to this earlier, Frank was
- 21:18Speaker 2: a walking encyclopedia of West Virginia sports, of any, no
- 21:23Speaker 2: matter what the level was, Speedy.
- 21:25Speaker 10: And you're right. And the thing with Frank, and he
- 21:29Speaker 10: wrote a weekly column in the Sunday Gazette, he didn't
- 21:33Speaker 10: talk a lot about college and pros unless he brought
- 21:39Speaker 10: it down to the local level. Now, he may talk
- 21:42Speaker 10: about the Cincinnati Bengals, but he's going to talk about
- 21:44Speaker 10: Mike Barber playing at Winfield High School. He may talk
- 21:48Speaker 10: about the Orlando Magic, but he's going to talk about
- 21:52Speaker 10: when Jason Williams was playing junior high or middle school
- 21:56Speaker 10: at DuPont. He was a guy who always, always kept
- 22:01Speaker 10: it local.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Talking to Speedy Bevins again about the passing of Frank
- 22:04Speaker 2: Gardini of the Dave Allen Show on 580 Live, brought
- 22:06Speaker 2: to you in part by Pinnacle Consultants, helping to identify
- 22:09Speaker 2: environmental concerns like asbestos, lead, mold, and indoor air quality issues,
- 22:13Speaker 2: buildings all across the state, providing inspections, testing, and accredited
- 22:16Speaker 2: lab services you can trust. Check out PinnacleCorp.net. helping you
- 22:19Speaker 2: understand your environment because what you don't know can hurt you.
- 22:22Speaker 2: And Frank was a deeply, deeply religious man, Speedy.
- 22:26Speaker 10: Very much so. And he kind of pioneered that into
- 22:33Speaker 10: a network radio show. It was a Christian talk radio show.
- 22:38Speaker 10: And he was able to get a lot of guests
- 22:43Speaker 10: on that because of what it was all about. I
- 22:47Speaker 10: think Frank used to be at the Super Bowl during
- 22:50Speaker 10: that week of press conferences and talk radio and everything
- 22:53Speaker 10: leading up to the Super Bowl. He got a lot
- 22:56Speaker 10: of big-name guests on that show because it was such
- 22:59Speaker 10: a faith-based show, and there were a lot of people
- 23:02Speaker 10: around the Super Bowl who wanted to come on.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Yeah, and on that particular broadcast you're talking about, as
- 23:08Speaker 2: you said, that was the focus of the broadcast was
- 23:11Speaker 2: Frank talking about sports but also talking to these folks that,
- 23:14Speaker 2: much like him, had a very, very deep-rooted Christian faith.
- 23:18Speaker 2: And I know I attended church, Putnam County, with Frank.
- 23:22Speaker 2: He was a regular there at the church there, River. Yeah, River,
- 23:30Speaker 2: for some reason, the name escaped me.
- 23:31Speaker 10: Right across from Generations Ford.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Exactly, right across from Generations Ford. I got to know
- 23:38Speaker 2: Speedy Frank on a different level when he worked for
- 23:41Speaker 2: then-Attorney General Patrick Morrissey. He was in the communications department,
- 23:44Speaker 2: so he kind of transitioned away from broadcasting. And then
- 23:49Speaker 2: when I started doing this show, Frank was in the
- 23:51Speaker 2: communications department of then Attorney General Patrick Morrissey.
- 23:56Speaker 10: I guarantee you, no matter what the job was, Frank,
- 23:59Speaker 10: he was very well respected by his co-workers, and he
- 24:02Speaker 10: made a lot of friends along the way. The challenge
- 24:06Speaker 10: today would be to find somebody to say anything bad
- 24:10Speaker 10: about Frank Gardenia. I don't think you can.
- 24:13Speaker 6: You're right.
- 24:13Speaker 10: He was just that warm an individual.
- 24:17Speaker 5: Well, Speedy, I appreciate you joining us.
- 24:19Speaker 2: I'm going to have you back on Metro News Midday
- 24:21Speaker 2: later today with more reflections. We're going to do a
- 24:23Speaker 2: couple segments on Frank Gardenia and the Midday Show today.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Appreciate you being here, and we'll talk later today.
- 24:28Speaker 5: Thanks a lot.
- 24:28Speaker 10: Talk with you then, Dave.
- 24:30Speaker 2: 28 minutes away from 10 o'clock here on a Monday morning,
- 24:33Speaker 2: the Dave Allen Show on 580 Live, brought to you
- 24:35Speaker 2: in part by Morgan & Morgan America's largest injury law firm.
- 24:38Speaker 2: We'll have Danny Jones coming up here in just a bit.
- 24:40Speaker 5: Let me knock out a couple of texts here. Let
- 24:44Speaker 5: me see.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Text, good diabetes joke about West Virginia cuisine. I was
- 24:51Speaker 2: just thinking that, LOL. Well, I get one off every
- 24:53Speaker 2: now and then. Text, the Mountaineers are on a tear.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Those extra two hours of Mountaineer sports talk should be
- 24:59Speaker 2: way more positive, optimistic, and enjoyable than the half hour
- 25:02Speaker 2: of local listener feedback, says the show. Reference to Metro
- 25:06Speaker 2: News Midday. Text, Ukraine has allegedly blown up some Russian
- 25:10Speaker 2: data centers and halted the activity of Russian bots. I

- 25:16Speaker 2: getting their new talking points until Russia gets their bots
- 25:21Speaker 2: back online. Man, he or she, the texter, has got
- 25:25Speaker 2: jokes today.
- 25:26Speaker 5: We're going to take a break. Danny Jones coming up

- 28:27Speaker 5: Barron, I promise. She'll be back tomorrow, maybe with hip
- 28:30Speaker 5: waders on. Who knows? I said we'll continue talking about
- 28:33Speaker 5: Frank Gardenia. Jeff has the news. TJ. Oh, TJ. He
- 28:37Speaker 5: stirred him up again.
- 28:38Speaker 2: This time he's just back from vacation, and he drops
- 28:41Speaker 2: a column yesterday afternoon. He's got everybody talking, talking about

- 29:08Speaker 5: talk about it on tomorrow's show. Quick text before we
- 29:10Speaker 5: get to Danny.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Text Dave, how great is it that Ilyan Omar's home
- 29:13Speaker 2: was just raided by the Department of Homeland Security and
- 29:15Speaker 2: DOJ this morning? The raid, part of a criminal investigation
- 29:19Speaker 2: into her suspected immigration fraud. No lefties, don't be mad.
- 29:23Speaker 2: It's just some people doing something, don't you know, says
- 29:27Speaker 2: a texter. Text Dave, hate to hear Frank Gardini has
- 29:30Speaker 2: passed away. Always enjoyed hearing him broadcast many sporting events
- 29:33Speaker 2: and his vast sports knowledge.
- 29:34Speaker 5: Prayers for his family. Danny Jones. is here. How you doing, man?
- 29:38Speaker 6: I'm doing fine. Didn't Ilyan Omar, didn't she marry her
- 29:42Speaker 6: brother or something?
- 29:44Speaker 5: I don't know who she's married to.
- 29:46Speaker 6: No, she married her brother to get into this country.
- 29:52Speaker 5: That's something I'll have to look up.
- 29:54Speaker 6: Somebody text that for me.
- 29:55Speaker 5: I'm looking it up right now. Did you know Frank Gardena? No, no.
- 29:59Speaker 5: Great guy. I can't believe you guys never crossed paths.
- 30:01Speaker 5: I mean, I know you weren't much into sports, but,
- 30:03Speaker 5: I mean, he was an icon. Let me ask you
- 30:07Speaker 5: a sports question. Okay, is it going to be about
- 30:09Speaker 5: the WNBA? Because I don't know it.
- 30:11Speaker 6: No, that's something you can ask me.
- 30:14Speaker 5: That's what I said. I'm not going to know it.
- 30:16Speaker 6: No, about these coaches and basketball players who got involved
- 30:23Speaker 6: in this– I don't even know how old it is.
- 30:27Speaker 6: I just caught it on the plane coming home. That
- 30:33Speaker 6: got caught up in this card game scam the mafia ran.
- 30:37Speaker 6: Do you know anything about that? I do not, no. Okay.
- 30:40Speaker 6: It was a coach, Hall of Fame coach.
- 30:43Speaker 5: Okay. Quick Google search here. Did Ileana Omar marry her brother?
- 30:48Speaker 2: An extensive investigation by multiple news organizations, law enforcement agencies
- 30:51Speaker 2: found no evidence that she married her brother. The claim is,
- 30:54Speaker 2: Rumors began circulating around 2016 that she had married her
- 30:57Speaker 2: biological brother. The investigation, multiple independent investigations, including reviews by
- 31:04Speaker 2: the Associated Press, the Washington Post, and the Minnesota Campaign
- 31:07Speaker 2: Finance Board found that the person that she married is
- 31:11Speaker 2: a British citizen with a completely different family tree, no
- 31:14Speaker 2: relation no more.
- 31:15Speaker 6: Okay.
- 31:15Speaker 5: So there you go.
- 31:16Speaker 6: Okay. All right. Take care of that.
- 31:19Speaker 5: All right. So how was California?
- 31:20Speaker 6: It was beautiful.
- 31:22Speaker 5: Okay. Weather good?
- 31:23Speaker 6: Hot. Until the last couple days.
- 31:27Speaker 5: I don't know how you fly like you do because
- 31:30Speaker 5: I haven't flown a lot in my life, but I've
- 31:32Speaker 5: flown enough to know that I don't like it.
- 31:34Speaker 6: You should see my points.
- 31:36Speaker 5: Well, I get that, but I mean, so how long
- 31:39Speaker 5: a flight is it? I mean, so what is your normal?
- 31:43Speaker 6: Here's what you can do.
- 31:45Speaker 5: Okay.
- 31:45Speaker 6: You leave here at 6 o'clock in the morning, and
- 31:50Speaker 6: you go to Atlanta. You get sometimes a two- and
- 31:53Speaker 6: three-hour break, and I go to the Delta Sky Lounge
- 31:59Speaker 6: because I'm a member. And then you go to California,
- 32:05Speaker 6: and they're by noon.
- 32:07Speaker 5: Okay.
- 32:08Speaker 6: But, of course, noon there is 3 o'clock here.
- 32:11Speaker 5: So you fly to Atlanta. You do that every time?
- 32:13Speaker 6: Every time.
- 32:14Speaker 11: Okay.
- 32:14Speaker 2: I was thinking some reason that you told me one
- 32:16Speaker 2: time you drove somewhere. And then I was telling my wife.
- 32:18Speaker 6: I drove the Cadillac out there.
- 32:20Speaker 2: No, but I was thinking that you said that you,
- 32:22Speaker 2: when you were flying out there, that you drove somewhere
- 32:24Speaker 2: and then flew from there.
- 32:26Speaker 6: Oh, yeah. I've done that. You drive to Nashville.
- 32:30Speaker 5: Okay.
- 32:30Speaker 6: Nashville and drive. You fly a straight flight from Nashville
- 32:36Speaker 6: to Long Beach.
- 32:37Speaker 10: Okay.
- 32:38Speaker 6: And Long Beach is a lot closer than John Wayne.
- 32:41Speaker 5: Okay. All right. So let's get your opinion. And again,
- 32:45Speaker 5: TJ is back from vacation, and he's going to join us.
- 32:48Speaker 2: He dropped this commentary about Pete Hegseth's wish for live
- 32:54Speaker 2: streaming the execution of the guy in the Fort Hood killings.
- 32:58Speaker 5: What do you think?
- 32:59Speaker 6: Yeah. First thing, I'm pretty ambivalent about the death penalty.
- 33:04Speaker 6: But if you want to punish this guy, Don't live
- 33:08Speaker 6: stream an execution. Put him in Florence, ABX, Colorado.
- 33:15Speaker 5: I mean, my take on it is that I don't
- 33:20Speaker 5: know how– if you kill him, in my opinion, and
- 33:24Speaker 5: I'm not saying he deserves to even live.
- 33:27Speaker 6: He becomes a martyr.
- 33:28Speaker 2: He's a martyr at that point. He becomes a martyr. Now,
- 33:32Speaker 2: does that mean you tiptoe around everything? No, absolutely not.
- 33:35Speaker 2: But I just– I don't think in this particular case–
- 33:37Speaker 2: That live streaming, and I'm not so sure what will happen,
- 33:42Speaker 2: and it has nothing to do with the crime itself.
- 33:44Speaker 5: I just think he becomes a martyr at that point.
- 33:46Speaker 6: That's what they do. They chop, you know, when they're
- 33:49Speaker 6: chopping the heads off those guys. They were live streaming that.
- 33:54Speaker 6: Don't do that. Put him in ADD. I wouldn't kill
- 33:56Speaker 6: him at all. Do you know anything about ADD?
- 33:58Speaker 5: No, I'm just going to say explain that to us.
- 34:00Speaker 6: ADDX is a solitary confinement, 23 hours a day. Um,
- 34:09Speaker 6: it is eerily quiet. A former, um, a warden called
- 34:16Speaker 6: it a clean version of hell. It's the worst prison
- 34:20Speaker 6: in the country. El Chapo's there. Um, Sammy Gravano did
- 34:27Speaker 6: seven years there. You should hear him talk about it. Um,
- 34:32Speaker 6: But that's where Maduro will wind up. He'll wind up
- 34:37Speaker 6: at ADX. And it's the worst prison in the country.
- 34:42Speaker 6: And you're locked in a room and you don't get out.
- 34:47Speaker 6: Or you get out once and they take all your
- 34:50Speaker 6: clothes off and frisk you. And then you get to
- 34:54Speaker 6: go out in this concrete area and you get to
- 34:58Speaker 6: walk around in an area about, A little bit bigger
- 35:02Speaker 6: in this room. And then you come back in an hour,
- 35:06Speaker 6: and that's it.
- 35:10Speaker 5: So you think that would be a much worse punishment? Absolutely.
- 35:13Speaker 5: I know it would be. If they were to live
- 35:15Speaker 5: stream it, is it something that you would want to watch?
- 35:21Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 35:22Speaker 2: See, I remember back in the 80s, back when the
- 35:25Speaker 2: VCR was the big thing in the mid-80s, and there
- 35:27Speaker 2: were these movies that were called Faces of Death. And
- 35:30Speaker 2: they were actual people dying. And it was things like
- 35:34Speaker 2: they had very rudimentary footage of a guy being mauled
- 35:39Speaker 2: to death by pit bulls. He was trying to break
- 35:41Speaker 2: into a into a junkyard. And it was actual electrocutions,
- 35:45Speaker 2: you know, from other countries and things of that nature.
- 35:48Speaker 2: And as a 14, 15, 16 year old kid, you're.
- 35:51Speaker 5: All about that. Have you seen Faces of Death yet?
- 35:53Speaker 5: Have you seen it?
- 35:54Speaker 2: And we went and we had you're supposed to be,
- 35:56Speaker 2: I think, 21 to even rent it. And when you
- 35:58Speaker 2: know people at the video store, you can get by
- 36:00Speaker 2: with it. But that was 15-year-old Dave. I don't know
- 36:04Speaker 2: that 56-year-old Dave really wants to see that.
- 36:07Speaker 6: I have to concede that I tried to watch. You
- 36:12Speaker 6: can't watch. It's not on these guys getting their head
- 36:16Speaker 6: cut off. Because I couldn't believe it was happening. But
- 36:20Speaker 6: they had a whole line of them up. And they
- 36:23Speaker 6: had those guys behind them. And they cut their heads off.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Text, Ilya Nomar married her brother. Immigrants were eating cats
- 36:31Speaker 2: and dogs. Democrats will make her child use a litter
- 36:33Speaker 2: box instead of a toilet. The Russian bot influence is
- 36:36Speaker 2: on hold now, but I'll come back like a flash flood.
- 36:39Speaker 2: It'll come back like a flash flood once the Russian
- 36:41Speaker 2: data centers get back online.
- 36:42Speaker 6: I think we've confirmed that she didn't marry her brother.
- 36:45Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 36:45Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Well, I think this was sarcasm, you know, because it
- 36:48Speaker 2: mentioned all the other things about immigrants eating cats and dogs,
- 36:51Speaker 2: which was, you know.
- 36:53Speaker 5: Not true.
- 36:54Speaker 6: Look, I wasn't trying to slam her. I really wasn't.
- 37:00Speaker 6: I've heard that for so long that she married him
- 37:05Speaker 6: just to get in this country. And perhaps in Somalia,
- 37:09Speaker 6: maybe they'd do that. I don't know.
- 37:11Speaker 2: Dex, I have no problem with showing it. Watch it
- 37:13Speaker 2: or not, your choice. They did not release the killing
- 37:16Speaker 2: or show the body of bin Laden. The people said
- 37:18Speaker 2: that it never happened. So streaming this, people could see
- 37:20Speaker 2: for themselves. What happens otherwise, they'll say it never happened.
- 37:24Speaker 2: 16 years past due. Remember, most people offended by this
- 37:27Speaker 2: celebrated Kirk anniversary and Trump being shot.
- 37:32Speaker 5: So to heck with your morality, high horse.
- 37:35Speaker 6: I guess that's directed at me.
- 37:36Speaker 5: Well, I think it's people that don't want it, not
- 37:39Speaker 5: just you. I think it's people that don't necessarily want
- 37:42Speaker 5: to see it. But here's something.
- 37:44Speaker 6: I'm strategic. I got a better strategy. You put him
- 37:48Speaker 6: in ADX, that's worse.
- 37:49Speaker 5: I like your idea. I like your idea.
- 37:52Speaker 2: You know, here's the thing about, and I appreciate the text,
- 37:54Speaker 2: but the text you're saying, watch it or don't. Somebody
- 37:57Speaker 2: pointed this out to me yesterday, and it was actually
- 38:00Speaker 2: a meme that I saw, but my wife and I
- 38:01Speaker 2: were talking about the people that say, watch it or not,
- 38:04Speaker 2: it is your choice.
- 38:05Speaker 5: What if they feel the same way about things like
- 38:07Speaker 5: drag shows?
- 38:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:10Speaker 5: Just saying. I mean, everybody gets.
- 38:12Speaker 2: All— I' m not into drag shows, but everybody gets all upset
- 38:15Speaker 2: about it. Now, maybe it's comparing apples and oranges, but,
- 38:18Speaker 2: I mean, why can't we take the same attitude? If
- 38:19Speaker 2: you don't like it, don't watch it.
- 38:20Speaker 6: Remember this gay bar up here?
- 38:23Speaker 5: Don't get me in trouble, Dan.
- 38:25Speaker 6: No, no, no. No, it was a funeral home. It
- 38:27Speaker 6: was a funeral home, and it's gone now.
- 38:29Speaker 5: Okay.
- 38:30Speaker 6: And it was up on then Broad Street, now Leon
- 38:33Speaker 6: Sullivan Way. And it was a— They were having drag shows,
- 38:40Speaker 6: and it was stopped because of city ordinance. So myself
- 38:45Speaker 6: and I thought it was let them do what they
- 38:47Speaker 6: want to do. And so myself and a Daily Mail
- 38:52Speaker 6: reporter went up there and started stirring things up. I
- 38:55Speaker 6: was on not this radio station but the other one.
- 39:00Speaker 6: And we stirred it up, and then everybody got involved,
- 39:05Speaker 6: and it passed the– It passed the council about 13
- 39:11Speaker 6: to 12 that they allowed them to have the— Now.
- 39:14Speaker 5: You weren't mayor, though, at the time, right? This is
- 39:16Speaker 5: when you— I was a reporter. No, but I'm saying
- 39:18Speaker 5: you weren't mayor at the time.
- 39:19Speaker 10: No.
- 39:19Speaker 5: Okay.
- 39:20Speaker 6: But I would have been all right with me.
- 39:22Speaker 5: I don't really care what people do, to be honest
- 39:24Speaker 5: with you, Dan. Yeah, I mean— The older I get,
- 39:25Speaker 5: the less I care what people do. If they want
- 39:27Speaker 5: to have drag shows, I mean, it's private. It's a
- 39:30Speaker 5: private club. But I'll tell you a story. We went
- 39:36Speaker 5: in there, a bunch of us reporters.
- 39:40Speaker 6: And there was this female from the Gazette. She was
- 39:49Speaker 6: part of our gaggle of group that went in there,
- 39:52Speaker 6: and I knew everybody sitting at the bar. It was
- 39:56Speaker 6: a beautiful club. And when she left, I said, you
- 40:02Speaker 6: wait a minute. I'm leaving with you.
- 40:04Speaker 1: Ha, ha, ha.
- 40:07Speaker 2: On that note, I do want to remind you, Trick
- 40:09Speaker 2: or Beat with 107.3 The Beat is back at GoMart

- 40:27Speaker 2: text says, the last public execution in the U.S. was
- 40:30Speaker 2: in the 1930s. Crime has steadily increased since then. Everyone
- 40:33Speaker 2: knows this, and don't you dare fact check this. Rapists
- 40:37Speaker 2: are right. We need public executions to fight crime. Text,
- 40:44Speaker 2: I have no problem with the drag show. I don't
- 40:45Speaker 2: want it in schools or public libraries in front of children.
- 40:48Speaker 2: Do you want to bring porn movie filming in front
- 40:50Speaker 2: of kids at a school, says the texter. Text, try
- 40:54Speaker 2: watching some videos of Russians and Ukrainians getting killed by
- 40:58Speaker 2: FPV drones. That's what we're in for when Trump invades Iran.
- 41:02Speaker 2: American soldiers' deaths broadcast worldwide over the Internet because Trump
- 41:05Speaker 2: is a moron.
- 41:06Speaker 6: And he blames the war on Ukraine.
- 41:12Speaker 5: Text, Hegseth is a sick person. He would do anything
- 41:16Speaker 5: for publicity.
- 41:17Speaker 6: We've gone from General Mattis to Pete Hegseth. That's where
- 41:22Speaker 6: we are. I mean, it's really sad. You know, people,
- 41:28Speaker 6: our life on this show in 12-step meetings, you know,
- 41:32Speaker 6: you had those nice young ladies in here earlier. Our
- 41:36Speaker 6: life is a constant search for the truth. And some
- 41:41Speaker 6: people out there, They see Trump and they think they
- 41:46Speaker 6: see the truth.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Did you happen to– you were probably flying yesterday, but
- 41:51Speaker 2: Chris Stierwald yesterday was at the Texas State Fair on
- 41:55Speaker 2: his show, which airs on News Nation. And he assembled
- 41:59Speaker 2: a group of people from all different backgrounds, Republicans, Democrats, male, female,
- 42:04Speaker 2: different races, just to kind of– to have a discussion
- 42:08Speaker 2: and talk. It was interesting to me, and I didn't
- 42:11Speaker 2: get to see the whole thing, but one of the
- 42:12Speaker 2: things that I thought was very interesting, he was talking
- 42:15Speaker 2: to a woman who was very, very liberal. And he
- 42:17Speaker 2: asked her, he said, can you be friends, even though
- 42:20Speaker 2: these people had never met, they were in this group,
- 42:22Speaker 2: could you be friends with the woman beside you?
- 42:24Speaker 5: Because the woman beside her was a Republican.
- 42:28Speaker 6: Conservative.
- 42:29Speaker 5: Yeah, was Republican.
- 42:31Speaker 2: And she was asked, could you be friends with her?
- 42:35Speaker 2: And the answer, Danny, astounded me because she said no.
- 42:38Speaker 2: She said, you know, we could, and I'm kind of
- 42:40Speaker 2: paraphrasing here, we could be cordial with each other, but
- 42:44Speaker 2: I can't be friends with a Republican. I can't be
- 42:46Speaker 2: friends with conservatives because I don't trust them.
- 42:49Speaker 5: I mean, is this is where we've gone, where we've
- 42:51Speaker 5: gotten now?
- 42:52Speaker 6: There was, in Liz Cheney's book, she said that her
- 42:56Speaker 6: mother had been friends with a woman for 60 years, 60.
- 43:05Speaker 6: And when they had the insurrection, In January 6th, back
- 43:12Speaker 6: in 2001, this woman who was friends with Liz Cheney,
- 43:19Speaker 6: her mom, quit being friends with her. And Liz Cheney's mother,
- 43:27Speaker 6: who's a very delightful lady, the late Dick Cheney's wife,
- 43:33Speaker 6: very delightful. She tried to talk to her and tried
- 43:36Speaker 6: to exchange views with her.
- 43:38Speaker 10: Mm-mm.
- 43:40Speaker 5: And that's really sad.
- 43:41Speaker 6: Well, they see the truth, and they think it's Trump.
- 43:44Speaker 2: But, I mean, the fact that you can't carry– and
- 43:46Speaker 2: in 2026, you can't carry on a conversation or be
- 43:50Speaker 2: friends with someone who is of a different political value system.
- 43:57Speaker 2: And her reasoning was– and I understand her reasoning, although
- 44:00Speaker 2: I don't agree with it. Her reason was, well, I
- 44:02Speaker 2: can't be friends with somebody because I don't trust them.
- 44:05Speaker 2: Because Republicans want to destroy America. I cannot be friends
- 44:08Speaker 2: with someone like that. And I'm just like, man, this
- 44:11Speaker 2: is the craziest stuff I've ever heard in my entire life.
- 44:13Speaker 6: That's a subjective comment. Republicans or Democrats.
- 44:18Speaker 5: Yeah, for that matter, it could be reversed.
- 44:20Speaker 6: It's ridiculous. We all have different views, and if we didn't,
- 44:25Speaker 6: it'd be a pretty boring place.
- 44:28Speaker 2: It is 9.52, the Dave Allen Show on 580 Live,

- 46:36Speaker 2: Text says, Florida guy here, Dave. Danny Jones spreading false news.
- 46:39Speaker 2: He said it was an insurrection.
- 46:41Speaker 5: It was not.
- 46:42Speaker 2: Nobody was charged or convicted on that.
- 46:46Speaker 6: Okay. I just went by what I saw.
- 46:51Speaker 5: Text says, wait.
- 46:52Speaker 2: Has anyone talked to the other woman who was the
- 46:54Speaker 2: friend of Liz Cheney's mother to see if it was
- 46:57Speaker 2: actually true?
- 46:57Speaker 5: You're going by one side.
- 47:00Speaker 6: I'm going by Liz Cheney's book.
- 47:02Speaker 5: Okay. But, I mean, they're saying, did anybody talk to
- 47:04Speaker 5: the other woman is what they're saying.
- 47:08Speaker 6: It's a story out of a book.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Text, how can you be friends with someone who voted
- 47:13Speaker 2: for a person with such close ties to pedophiles that
- 47:16Speaker 2: they do everything in their power to keep evidence of
- 47:18Speaker 2: crime sealed? It's not Republican or Democrat or liberal and conservative.
- 47:22Speaker 2: How can you be friends with a pedophile supporter?
- 47:25Speaker 6: Where'd that come from?
- 47:27Speaker 5: Donald Trump. That's what the texture is.
- 47:29Speaker 6: He's a pedophile supporter?
- 47:31Speaker 8: No.
- 47:31Speaker 2: They're saying if you– this texture, what I'm saying here
- 47:35Speaker 2: is that if you are a supporter of Trump, that
- 47:37Speaker 2: you are supporting pedophilia.
- 47:42Speaker 6: Look, I don't like the guy, but I don't adhere
- 47:45Speaker 6: to that.
- 47:47Speaker 5: Dex, it's not the politics.
- 47:48Speaker 2: It's the racism, misogyny, fascism, and anti-trans rhetoric and their
- 47:52Speaker 2: support of it for political goals that keeps us not
- 47:54Speaker 2: talking with them.
- 47:55Speaker 6: Do you know who Andrew Solomon is? He's a columnist
- 48:01Speaker 6: who leans both ways. He does some conservative stuff. He's
- 48:08Speaker 6: very gay, and he is really upset that he's on
- 48:13Speaker 6: Bill Maher a lot.
- 48:15Speaker 5: Okay, okay, yeah, yeah, okay. I do know who you're
- 48:17Speaker 5: talking about.
- 48:17Speaker 6: And he's upset that the alphabet people, LGBTQ, RSTUV, whatever
- 48:25Speaker 6: all that is now, have hijacked the gay movement because
- 48:31Speaker 6: they were making so much progress.
- 48:35Speaker 5: I know exactly who you're talking about now.
- 48:37Speaker 6: They were mainstreaming themselves, which is true. I mean, and
- 48:41Speaker 6: most people don't know, David, that the Trump administration's full
- 48:46Speaker 6: of them. You've got the Treasury Secretary. What's his name?
- 48:52Speaker 10: Besset?
- 48:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:53Speaker 6: He's got a husband. But the speaker for the State Department,
- 48:59Speaker 6: Tammy Bruce, she's upside down. Okay, and you've.
- 49:07Speaker 5: Got— Upside down, Danny?
- 49:09Speaker 6: You've got— I' ve listened to her for 30 years. I listened
- 49:12Speaker 6: to her in the 90s when she was on KFI,
- 49:15Speaker 6: and she was so funny. And then you've got Rick Grinnell,
- 49:19Speaker 6: who was— his ambassador-at-large. There ain't nobody more maggot than him,
- 49:24Speaker 6: and he's got a husband.
- 49:27Speaker 2: Tex, how do you be friends with someone who literally
- 49:29Speaker 2: believes and said, I said others like me are enemies
- 49:32Speaker 2: of this country? Just because we don't vote Republican or
- 49:34Speaker 2: that my immigrant grandparents and friends poison the blood of
- 49:37Speaker 2: the country.
- 49:38Speaker 6: Who said that?
- 49:39Speaker 5: The texter, Danny. I'm just reading the text, man. Come on,
- 49:41Speaker 5: work with me.
- 49:41Speaker 6: Hey, I like Tammy Bruce. I was just kidding. That's
- 49:45Speaker 6: an old adage we used to say back in the 70s.
- 49:49Speaker 2: Text, I am a moderate Democrat with right-leaning Republican friends
- 49:52Speaker 2: with whom I love to debate the issues.
- 49:54Speaker 5: We never get mad.
- 49:55Speaker 6: Why not just be friends?
- 49:56Speaker 5: That's weird.
- 49:57Speaker 6: There you go. Or why do you have to... Even
- 50:00Speaker 6: if it gets to where... One guy put his hand
- 50:04Speaker 6: on my shoulder and told me it wasn't an interaction.
- 50:10Speaker 6: This happened in a restaurant. I said, you're welcome to
- 50:13Speaker 6: your opinion, but take your hand off my shoulder.
- 50:17Speaker 5: Now, what was the context here?
- 50:19Speaker 6: It was about the insurrection.
- 50:20Speaker 9: Okay.
- 50:21Speaker 5: All right.
- 50:22Speaker 6: I mean, that's all. Oh, by the way, you got
- 50:25Speaker 6: to go see The Social Reckoning. About Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook.
- 50:32Speaker 15: Oh, gosh.
- 50:33Speaker 6: You got to go see it.
- 50:35Speaker 5: Okay.

- 50:39Speaker 2: Dave, glad to hear Mayor Danny on the show today.
- 50:41Speaker 2: He's a man that has a world of historical knowledge.
- 50:44Speaker 2: That just means you're old.
- 50:45Speaker 5: That's what that means, Danny.
- 50:48Speaker 6: But I'm not upside down.
- 50:50Speaker 2: Text, this was a quote from Joe Manchin somebody sent me.
- 50:55Speaker 2: I'm asking the Democratic Party, you better start looking at
- 50:57Speaker 2: how you lost people like me. I've been a Democrat
- 51:00Speaker 2: all my life, and now I can't even identify with
- 51:02Speaker 2: the far-left ideology.
- 51:04Speaker 5: Joe Manchin nailed it. I left the Democratic Party years ago.
- 51:07Speaker 6: Well, and Joe Manchin's got a national audience, and he's
- 51:11Speaker 6: my friend, and I agree with him totally.
- 51:15Speaker 5: All right. Hang out with me one second.
- 51:17Speaker 4: Mr.

- 51:26Speaker 2: the hurricane, which I don't think affected where you were.
- 51:29Speaker 5: It wasn't.
- 51:29Speaker 2: But we were saying TJ's out with his spreadsheets and
- 51:33Speaker 2: he's got probabilities and things of that nature. Why have
- 51:36Speaker 2: you angered everybody with this commentary today?
- 51:39Speaker 5: Oh, I don't know. Because I'm willing to say... Something
- 51:43Speaker 5: about something that's controversial, probably. It's a suggestion. Watch the thing.
- 51:47Speaker 5: Don't watch the thing. I don't think you should.
- 51:48Speaker 6: He's against it, right?
- 51:50Speaker 5: Yeah. You're against the live streaming of the.
- 51:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:53Speaker 6: I'm against him being fried. Put him in ADX. I
- 51:57Speaker 6: like Danny.
- 51:58Speaker 5: Put him in ADX.
- 51:59Speaker 6: You know what ADX is?
- 52:01Speaker 5: No clue. TJ, will you look it up? I'll look
- 52:04Speaker 5: it up.
- 52:04Speaker 6: ADX Florence, Colorado.
- 52:06Speaker 5: All right.
