- Shaun: Hey and welcome back to the reset with me Sean Tucker. This is episode 83. How can you get better at anything using this one small thing? This is how you can get better at anything using this one proven system. I'll tell you what it is. It's not what you expect. It is your ability to take in information. Stop. Hold that for a second. Your ability to take in information. What does that really mean? The more aware you are in your body, in your mind, in this moment right now. There is so many bits of information that is happening right now that your mind is sorting through, your body is sorting through. and it does actually come back to your state. your one, emotional state and two, what brainwaves that you're operating at. Because if you are someone who is quite reactive and is in survival mode, you're not going to be able to take in much information, especially new information. It'll just scrape over into that pile that's too big already. basically saying it's not important. And why this is so so so important is we live in a day and age where we have absolute information overload. Never before could you have so much information in your fingertips. With AI now, with search engines, with basically any kind of knowledge base, you can just type something in and find information on it within seconds. How crazy is that? Do you know how people used to learn 25, 30 years ago, before the internet, before knowledge was... digital and information was really easily accessible. It was through books. It was through teaching lessons. It was through learning from each other's experiences. But now it's crazy. We have so much information available to us. Yet 99.9 9 % of it probably is useless because especially if you're stuck in a survival state meaning you know you're really Just living. You're just living the 9 to 5. You're working. You look forward to the end of work. You... You're not really... looking for ways to think about how you can better your situation, really you're just looking forward to the end. The end of the week. The end of the day. The end of this task. And what's really interesting is when you are able to take yourself out of this, instead of looking forward to the end, it becomes, how can I make the most of this moment right now? What's the thing that I can do to bring the most awareness and perception to this moment so that I can make the best possible decision? And I think there's far, far, far less people in that category of being able to take a pause, perceive new information, perceive all information that they can and make a decision based on that. Based on what their body is telling them, based on what their mind is also telling. because I guarantee when you get good at this skill of learning how to perceive better and slowing down so you can actually hear what's going on. You get better at everything. It's without a doubt. You will be able to think clearer. Your body will feel more flexible. Your ability to be present with your family and loved ones will be better. Just every aspect of your life will change for the better. and you can't do it unless you slow down. You can't do it properly until your system comes to a state of ease. And that means taking yourself away from the things that are keeping you comfortable. things that are keeping you in survival mode. things that you just keep cycling day in, day out, just to get by. maybe one of the hardest things you'll do is cut out the thing that is keeping you stuck. I know it is for me. And I know so many people struggle with cycles of addiction because it's uncomfortable to face the other side. It's easier to lose yourself to drugs than it is to be responsible in life. I'm not talking about social responsibility, I'm talking about your ability to respond. which is simply, are you conscious of how you're responding or are you reactive? If someone yells in a supermarket at someone who doesn't deserve it, how you respond to it, not how you take action, how you respond to it is your choice. whether you respond in feeling ashamed for that person who's getting yelled at or feeling apathy towards the person who's yelling, I don't know. Is it a reaction or is it a conscious response of maybe even compassion? You know, there's not a lot you can do in the action, but what you can do is hold yourself and able hold them with compassion, meaning they're able still to suffer and you're able to stay where you are. as ⁓ portal of safety. They can see the human in you, potentially, and they can actually do something different. They can respond differently because it's a bit like a domino effect. If someone responds consciously, more people around you will start responding consciously. You've probably done this before. You walk into a shop and the person's like, hey, how are you? And they're totally unconscious about, you know, how they are really. They're just robotic. They've basically found the switch that says off or let's just do enough to get by. The best way to interrupt that cycle is say, hey, what's been the best part of your day? I remember I did this in a Bunnings probably sometime last year. I said, hey, what's been the best part of your day today? And she's stumped for a second. that's a great question. I guess that I'm looking forward to the end of the day. It made me laugh. And I said, ⁓ yeah, nice. Well, I hope you have an awesome afternoon or evening, because you deserve it. That's exactly what I said back to her. And it's funny, because you could just see on her face that something had changed, something had shifted. Not by me being intentionally trying to shift her state, not that at all, but just interrupting the stagnant cycle. it's probably also active in me and if I just play the game and get in and get out well I'm also part of the problem if I really want people to become more conscious and more aware and wake up well you gotta you gotta ask things a little bit differently you gotta use your voice differently and really bring yourself out of the cycle because that's all you have to do is you you just do you and you don't even have to do anything to them. they will respond differently depending on how you are and how you respond. That's the beauty of it. So take this lesson, take this wherever you go and just practice it. Just have fun with it. Your ability to take in information is based on how you are. If you're really... feeling crap, then it's going to be really hard for you to break out of that cycle. But if you stop, take a breath, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in and breathe out. ⁓ you start to open up these pathways of perception. You start to see there's new information on the level because the truth is there's no guarantee. that the next moment will come. And the moment that happened that's kept you stuck, it's already passed, it's already gone, it's long forgotten. It can't be brought back into the now moment. Your body might still have a memory of it. But really, it's only this moment that exists. and it's how you respond, it's how you are using something as simple as the breath. It brings you here and now. So that's it. That's the tip I'll give you. So if you found value in today's episode, all I do is ask you to share it with one person. Just one person. That is how we grow the show. And yeah, if you found value, I'm sure that person will find value too. Thanks for tuning in today. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
