- 0:00The distinction between spiritual and psychic comes down
- 0:05to the experiential basis. For the most part, as mental
- 0:09beings, we have a tendency to try to define, delineate,
- 0:13classify and analyze, creating fine differences and trying to
- 0:19then categorize based on these differences.
- 0:22Trior, Ovindo and the Mother have described the psychic, the
- 0:26soul, as a spark of the divine in the individual being.
- 0:32Spiritual is a term that relates to the universal existence.
- 0:36Both terms share the common link to the divine reality, while the
- 0:41experience from one to the other may vary based on the level and
- 0:46the frequency of the vibration that each one represents.
- 0:51The falling away of the individual ego personality and
- 0:54the shifting of the standpoint of the consciousness to what the
- 0:58Vedic grishes termed the Truth, the Right, the vast is the
- 1:04experience that is termed spiritual.
- 1:07When the seeker enters this experience, there is no element
- 1:11of the ego present. In fact, when the consciousness
- 1:15first crosses over the boundary, there can frequently be the
- 1:19rising of the sense of fear that one is dying or leaving one's
- 1:24existence, as the awareness recognizes that an entirely
- 1:28different order of reality is now being presented.
- 1:32If the seeker at that moment allows the fear to rule, then he
- 1:38is immediately brought fully back into the individual mind,
- 1:42life and body. The experience of the psychic or
- 1:46soul spark is of a different character.
- 1:50There is frequently a sense, not necessarily of wideness or an
- 1:55abstract void, but of a flame of aspiration, consecration, self
- 2:02giving, that is associated with the role of the soul in
- 2:06eventually turning the external being toward the divine.
- 2:11Essentially, the two different experiences share the common
- 2:15basis in the divine consciousness.
- 2:19The disciple asks, is there a difference between the spiritual
- 2:24and the psychic? Are they different planes?
- 2:28The Mother answers quote yes, the psychic plane belongs to the
- 2:34personal manifestation. The psychic is that which is
- 2:38divine in you, put out to be dynamic in the play.
- 2:42But when we speak of the spiritual, we are thinking of
- 2:46something that is concentrated in the Divine rather than in the
- 2:49external manifestation. The spiritual plane is something
- 2:54static behind and above the outward play.
- 2:58It supports the instruments of the nature, but is not itself
- 3:02included or involved in the external manifestation here.
- 3:08But in Speaking of these things, one must be careful not to be
- 3:11imprisoned by the words we use. When I speak of the psychic or
- 3:15the spiritual, I mean things that are very deep and real
- 3:20behind the flat surface of the words and intimately connected
- 3:24even in their difference. Intellectual definitions and
- 3:28distinctions are too external and rigid to seize the true
- 3:33truth of things. End Quote.
