- 1:12Speaker 5: seven the fast This is Kazy Any College Station.
- 1:15Speaker 6: Brian family owned and operated since nineteen seventy two. Stepchek
- 1:19Speaker 6: Service Center, twenty two hundred longmyre just down from the
- 1:22Speaker 6: post office in College Station.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Surprisingly rainy Thursday.
- 1:27Speaker 7: It came this afternoon.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Yeah. I just at first, I was thinking to myself, well,
- 1:35Speaker 2: cycling came by early this morning, so what's that sound
- 1:39Speaker 2: I'm hearing? And then it kept coming. I was like,
- 1:43Speaker 2: thunder it is.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Yeah, Thursday afternoon, late afternoon showers. I walked out and
- 1:48Speaker 4: since it was so hot, like all of the windows
- 1:51Speaker 4: were flogged up in my cars, I go out there
- 1:53Speaker 4: because the temper to drop so quickly.
- 1:55Speaker 7: So yeah, just be careful while you're out there.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yeah. Again, just keep the sprinklers off. There's no reason
- 2:02Speaker 2: to turn them back on.
- 2:05Speaker 7: For the next couple of days.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Chip Howard Sports Talk taken over today again by Jason
- 2:09Speaker 4: and Jared. Jason Cornelli's Jared Hicks here and for Chip
- 2:12Speaker 4: who we know he's gone, it's July.
- 2:15Speaker 7: He is got. We were so spoiled yesterday.
- 2:19Speaker 4: With the amount of things that were going on, not
- 2:23Speaker 4: to mention the moment we stepped foot and before we
- 2:26Speaker 4: stepped foot in the studio, but everything going on with
- 2:29Speaker 4: the World Cup and how that was with that game
- 2:31Speaker 4: yesterday with Argentina in England.
- 2:32Speaker 2: So I don't know how it is when when you
- 2:34Speaker 2: get home and you're talking with the kiddos. But so
- 2:37Speaker 2: of course Peyton asked right off the bat, you know
- 2:41Speaker 2: how was radio and the game? And so I'm having
- 2:44Speaker 2: to give her every detail because she I mean, she
- 2:49Speaker 2: she is a big messy fan, but she did understand
- 2:55Speaker 2: my wanting England to win because she understands the historical context.
- 3:00Speaker 2: But like I was walking her through it, and I'm
- 3:02Speaker 2: taking her like step by step because that's really what
- 3:05Speaker 2: it felt like yesterday was just have you ever gone
- 3:09Speaker 2: in have you ever been preparing for a situation, whatever
- 3:13Speaker 2: it is, and then all of a sudden something happens
- 3:17Speaker 2: and your mentality has to change. And then while you're
- 3:22Speaker 2: in the process of changing that mentality, something else happens
- 3:24Speaker 2: and now you got to change it again.
- 3:26Speaker 4: It was just completely flipped. It was like on our
- 3:28Speaker 4: heads yesterday is what was going on with that?
- 3:31Speaker 2: And so the closest thing and I will I will
- 3:34Speaker 2: say this, and it's funny that it's happened now twice
- 3:36Speaker 2: with with Caleb in the room. It was the Jalen
- 3:40Speaker 2: Brown trade. Oh, because we were we were just in here,
- 3:44Speaker 2: we're talking World Cup and when that news breaks, it's
- 3:47Speaker 2: just like you you can't even wrap your head around
- 3:51Speaker 2: it in the moment because it just shocks you. So anyway,
- 3:55Speaker 2: so all of.
- 3:56Speaker 7: That happened yesterday today.
- 3:58Speaker 4: I don't know, we may get into deeper into some
- 4:01Speaker 4: some SP's talk. We'll talk about something that happened here
- 4:05Speaker 4: in just a second. A couple of things they're talking
- 4:07Speaker 4: about it right now as we're looking at ESPN, I
- 4:12Speaker 4: have been if you've been listening to us over there,
- 4:14Speaker 4: I think I'm While I may not be like the
- 4:17Speaker 4: biggest Lebron fan, I'm a Lebron fan.
- 4:21Speaker 7: I'm kind of tired of Lebron now.
- 4:25Speaker 2: This this is, without a doubt, probably the more, the
- 4:30Speaker 2: most annoying that this situation has ever been. I know
- 4:35Speaker 2: a lot of people the decision still rubs a lot
- 4:38Speaker 2: of people the wrong way because it was turned into
- 4:40Speaker 2: a television event.
- 4:42Speaker 4: I was more and I don't think again being a
- 4:45Speaker 4: club kid, being on the Boys and Girls club board
- 4:48Speaker 4: now looking like I don't think that they publicized that
- 4:53Speaker 4: part of it enough that he was doing obviously he
- 4:56Speaker 4: was promoting himself, but like the amount of money that went,
- 5:00Speaker 4: all of that went to Chairity, like all of the
- 5:02Speaker 4: fun like any money that was raised because of that,
- 5:04Speaker 4: all of them chair So I don't think that they
- 5:06Speaker 4: they or he and his team, I don't think they
- 5:08Speaker 4: handled the marketing of that as well as they that.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I mean, there's that. I think there's also where he
- 5:16Speaker 2: ended up going because you know, for whatever reason, Miami
- 5:22Speaker 2: people have very at least in the NBA circles, people
- 5:24Speaker 2: have very strong opinions about Miami.
- 5:27Speaker 4: And I plan on getting into that a little bit
- 5:30Speaker 4: based on what Pat Raley said today.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Also, yes, but this go around really feels like and
- 5:37Speaker 2: what's funny is the athletics talking about it, ESPN's talking
- 5:41Speaker 2: about it, and I'm sure it's being discussed on things
- 5:46Speaker 2: like the Ringer and so forth and so on. This
- 5:49Speaker 2: one really feels like Rich Paul is driving the car.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I know Lebron undoubtedly the decision will we'll make the decision,
- 6:01Speaker 2: but it really feels like this is Rich Paul's attempt
- 6:05Speaker 2: to put himself right in front of everyone and kind
- 6:10Speaker 2: of run, run, blocker for Lebron's four hundred Cases of
- 6:17Speaker 2: Corps in the eighteen Wheelers. Yes, I'm pulling a smoke
- 6:21Speaker 2: in the bandit reference there.
- 6:23Speaker 7: Yes, you have completely aged us. Yeah in that well
- 6:27Speaker 7: it was not.
- 6:28Speaker 2: It came up on my recommended for Netflix, so it's like, oh, yeah,
- 6:33Speaker 2: it is one, one, two, three, and four.
- 6:35Speaker 4: That is And maybe this will be the topic at
- 6:38Speaker 4: the end of the show of what are your what
- 6:41Speaker 4: are your remote drops?
- 6:43Speaker 2: But but again, this this really feels like and and
- 6:47Speaker 2: maybe it's just because Lebron does not want to He
- 6:50Speaker 2: doesn't want to answer any questions. He kind of wants to,
- 6:53Speaker 2: you know, go play golf. Uh, whether it's in Key
- 6:56Speaker 2: West or in Fourth a week ago or wherever he's
- 6:59Speaker 2: playing golf, because he is still you know, putting it
- 7:02Speaker 2: on ig. But this really feels like this is the
- 7:06Speaker 2: Rich Paul show this go around one.
- 7:09Speaker 4: So we'll get into that a little bit, may talk
- 7:11Speaker 4: a little baseball, may talk some college football and what
- 7:16Speaker 4: the expansion can look like as we get into that.
- 7:19Speaker 4: Definitely want to get into some more NBA talk. Did
- 7:21Speaker 4: you watch the SP's last night?
- 7:22Speaker 2: I did not. I just I had zero interest in it.
- 7:28Speaker 4: By the time I cause I get home, and.
- 7:33Speaker 7: The first like obviously talk to everybody, say hello to.
- 7:37Speaker 4: The kids, and and the other thing. One of the
- 7:41Speaker 4: first things I do is I am going to watch PTI.
- 7:45Speaker 4: I have it recorded, and that is my transition from
- 7:49Speaker 4: work day to now I'm home. I use that as
- 7:52Speaker 4: as my my buffer. And so by the time I
- 7:55Speaker 4: get so we leave here. By the time I'm done
- 7:56Speaker 4: with all that, it's sick that dinner I had told
- 8:00Speaker 4: forgot completely forgot.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Well, and this is this is no slight to Marcello
- 8:06Speaker 2: and I'm blanking on his last name, but from Saturday
- 8:08Speaker 2: Night Live who hosted. But for me, it's really it
- 8:12Speaker 2: is almost impossible to top either. And I'm just I'm
- 8:16Speaker 2: gonna go off the dome here top four SB moments
- 8:19Speaker 2: that ire that just stick in my mind. And these
- 8:23Speaker 2: are in no particular order. Nor McDonald making the O. J.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Simpson joke. What was that ninety eight Jamie Foxx singing
- 8:32Speaker 2: I want to be your tennis ball to Serena Williams. Yeah,
- 8:37Speaker 2: justin Timberlake basically alluding to the infamous wardrobe malfunction, and
- 8:47Speaker 2: then Peyton Manning basically having his back and forth with
- 8:52Speaker 2: Tom Brady. For me, it's hard to top those four
- 8:57Speaker 2: because those were just very in the moment, organic, organically funny,
- 9:05Speaker 2: and I feel like everything since then has just tried
- 9:08Speaker 2: to to kind of copy that. And and then a
- 9:12Speaker 2: year where and I'm not trying to belittle anyone who
- 9:16Speaker 2: won awards this year, but it just it didn't feel
- 9:18Speaker 2: like a year where there's there's something you want to
- 9:22Speaker 2: see from from this awards eremonent.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Not necessarily yeah there there there truly was it. There
- 9:27Speaker 4: wasn't a spectacular moment like you just said. The super
- 9:31Speaker 4: Bowl was kind of I mean, the New York Knicks
- 9:34Speaker 4: won Best Team and that that's great, but they're not
- 9:38Speaker 4: outside of New York. They're not fan favorites. Miles Garrett
- 9:44Speaker 4: did win two awards last night, yeah, for him Best
- 9:47Speaker 4: NFL Player and Best Record Breaking Performance.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Which, by the way, just as a side note, have
- 9:53Speaker 2: you heard Aaron Aaron Donald is showing up at the
- 9:57Speaker 2: RAMS facility.
- 9:58Speaker 7: I knew he had been working out, I didn't know
- 10:00Speaker 7: he was, So he's going in here.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Well nothing, nothing, he's going in the facility. Nothing's been
- 10:04Speaker 2: made official, but oh my god, that can you can
- 10:07Speaker 2: you imagine those two on the same line.
- 10:09Speaker 7: Oh no, that would be just on.
- 10:13Speaker 4: We say this a lot in sports, that would be
- 10:16Speaker 4: unfair like that is I mean if he is even
- 10:19Speaker 4: because he's been out two years now, if he's even
- 10:22Speaker 4: seventy five percent eighty percent of we and they everybody,
- 10:27Speaker 4: and you've heard the like he's been staying in shape.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Like I think there was ya, I mean there were
- 10:31Speaker 2: rumors coming back last year.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Yeah, and so if he's seventy five eighty percent of
- 10:37Speaker 4: what he was, and you add that to Miles Garrett, like,
- 10:41Speaker 4: oh that that deefke a quarterback. It's not one towo,
- 10:46Speaker 4: it's you've got it's two. You're not taking five.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Step drops now you will not have.
- 10:51Speaker 7: The time to take five step drops.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Current Aggy volleyball player Kendall Stours also got a.
- 10:59Speaker 7: Also she won.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Now we I mean, I didn't know we were gonna
- 11:05Speaker 2: have Aggie's there. Maybe if I knew, I might have
- 11:08Speaker 2: made sure that it was at least on, But I
- 11:11Speaker 2: knew they were I knew basically they weren't in competition
- 11:14Speaker 2: for a potential win.
- 11:15Speaker 7: New Miles was going to be there.
- 11:17Speaker 4: And is there anyone that it's like the moment, like
- 11:23Speaker 4: literally the moment he got off of the plane in
- 11:26Speaker 4: Los Angeles, like the world opened up for him. He's
- 11:30Speaker 4: on more commercials now, and I know he had been
- 11:34Speaker 4: dating his girlfriend, the the skier, yeah for a while now,
- 11:37Speaker 4: so that's not.
- 11:38Speaker 7: Even like but like he's got commercials.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Like it's like he he instantly washed the stench of Cleveland.
- 11:45Speaker 7: Off of him.
- 11:45Speaker 2: It's amazing what getting out of Cleveland will do to you,
- 11:49Speaker 2: because yeah, it's it's not called the Roust Belt for nothing.
- 11:54Speaker 4: Yeah, he like, I've just like Miles, I don't believe
- 11:58Speaker 4: and and people can cravey me.
- 11:59Speaker 7: I don't believe he's ever had a commercial.
- 12:02Speaker 2: I don't think No. In fact, I would dare say
- 12:06Speaker 2: short of I mean short of maybe postgame interviews. The
- 12:13Speaker 2: most television time he got was during the winter or let, Yes,
- 12:17Speaker 2: which is sad because I mean, very charismatic. Obviously a
- 12:23Speaker 2: physical specimen. I mean, he has looked like he's been
- 12:26Speaker 2: carved from granted, since he was in high school, and
- 12:29Speaker 2: more so while he was at A and M. But
- 12:31Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, yeah, when you talk about, especially
- 12:37Speaker 2: on the defensive side of the ball, the guys who
- 12:40Speaker 2: could be marketable, he should easily be at the top of.
- 12:44Speaker 4: That list, and the moment he got on the private
- 12:47Speaker 4: jet to go to La I think he went to
- 12:49Speaker 4: the RAMS facility, said hello to everybody, and they took
- 12:51Speaker 4: him to some studio.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Well, and it goes back to what we were talking
- 12:54Speaker 2: about yesterday, where he's I don't he's not being shorted
- 12:58Speaker 2: on money by any stretch of the imagine nation. But
- 13:01Speaker 2: it is, honestly, what gives you so much cash? Cashe
- 13:09Speaker 2: is a championship and right now I believe the Rams
- 13:12Speaker 2: are the betting the odd the betting odds favorite for
- 13:16Speaker 2: the NFC to make the Super Bowl. And like we said,
- 13:20Speaker 2: without Aaron Donald, that defense is impressive. You add him
- 13:23Speaker 2: to it, and that defense, yeah.
- 13:25Speaker 4: It's scary. Back to the s Beast for just a second.
- 13:28Speaker 4: And do you think that the mouse and the Mothership
- 13:35Speaker 4: are trying to cause why? And maybe maybe Peyton Maning
- 13:41Speaker 4: is saying no, but like for a sports Wars show
- 13:43Speaker 4: someone that is that charismatic, maybe he like why wouldn't
- 13:46Speaker 4: they stick with Steph Curry shouldn't have been like he
- 13:49Speaker 4: he can't carry a show. So I don't know if
- 13:51Speaker 4: that that was not the right direction. But Peidon Maning
- 13:53Speaker 4: can I think Tom Brady can there are there are
- 13:58Speaker 4: and and maybe but there are some athletes former athletes.
- 14:03Speaker 7: I think Ryan Clark would be good at it, but
- 14:06Speaker 7: I think.
- 14:06Speaker 2: There are I think there's something. I think there's something
- 14:08Speaker 2: to be said about bringing in someone with comedy chops,
- 14:12Speaker 2: and especially stand up comedic chops to host, because yes,
- 14:17Speaker 2: a lot of that show is scripted. I mean understand
- 14:21Speaker 2: in most pretty much ninety five percent of award shows
- 14:24Speaker 2: is completely scripted. But it does take someone with comedic
- 14:28Speaker 2: genius and timing to take advantage of if something happens,
- 14:33Speaker 2: you know, someone someone makes a speech, or something happens
- 14:36Speaker 2: you know, on the way up to the stage to
- 14:38Speaker 2: really kind of capitalize on that. And I think that's why,
- 14:42Speaker 2: especially a show like this, because I believe the SP's
- 14:45Speaker 2: are just like the People Choice Awards. The people winning
- 14:47Speaker 2: know they're winning. That's why they shows up, you know,
- 14:51Speaker 2: so that it's not a huge it's not a surprise
- 14:53Speaker 2: from that standpoint. So in a show that is so scripted,
- 14:57Speaker 2: including the winners knowing they're going to win, and that's
- 15:00Speaker 2: why the majority of them there, it's it's good to
- 15:02Speaker 2: have someone who can kind of do something off the
- 15:04Speaker 2: top of the Dome. Peyton typically has that ability to
- 15:09Speaker 2: a degree. Tom I'm sure has been working on it.
- 15:14Speaker 2: I would say Blake, Uh God, why am I blanking
- 15:20Speaker 2: on his name right now? NBA player who also does
- 15:23Speaker 2: stand up comedy, played at Oklahoma. He does stand up. Yes,
- 15:29Speaker 2: he's been doing stand up comedy for about a decade.
- 15:31Speaker 2: I would. I would. I'm surprised they haven't happened to him.
- 15:34Speaker 7: Find a clip of Blake Griffin.
- 15:37Speaker 2: You know the radio. Yeah, he's actually I haven't.
- 15:44Speaker 7: Wow, No, I did not know that, So yeah, what
- 15:48Speaker 7: But I just think based.
- 15:49Speaker 2: On that or Jason Kelsey, I mean, like Jason kel
- 15:54Speaker 2: we know why Travis couldn't be there.
- 15:57Speaker 7: But either like, I just think there are better there
- 16:02Speaker 7: to keep it.
- 16:03Speaker 2: I think they went with Marcelo because he's younger, so
- 16:06Speaker 2: I'm trying to attract the younger demographic. Again. It's it
- 16:09Speaker 2: is the slowest day in sports. But you are going
- 16:12Speaker 2: up against, as we'll probably talk about at some point
- 16:16Speaker 2: in the show. And I'm not being sacrilegious, but you were.
- 16:20Speaker 2: You were going up against a godlike creature. Who will
- 16:24Speaker 2: they come back for the ages? Earlier that afternoon, I
- 16:28Speaker 2: don't know who was paying attention to the s people.
- 16:30Speaker 4: But it was and again and in for me, like
- 16:32Speaker 4: I just I don't know based on and this is
- 16:35Speaker 4: kind of that whether I'm not trying to be the
- 16:37Speaker 4: old guy in the room now, but like some some
- 16:40Speaker 4: I don't know a lot of.
- 16:43Speaker 7: The stars in some of these sports anymore mm hmm.
- 16:46Speaker 4: And and I don't know, like what what it's going
- 16:50Speaker 4: to take to to get that, because if yeah, if
- 16:51Speaker 4: you can't point out who they are.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Then again a lot of it just goes back to
- 16:57Speaker 2: the fact of there are so many things pulling at
- 17:00Speaker 2: your attention nowadays. I mean you have to again, you
- 17:02Speaker 2: have to have like six streaming services just to watch
- 17:07Speaker 2: the majority of sports that are on nowadays. And you know,
- 17:11Speaker 2: I used to be I used to be able to
- 17:13Speaker 2: tell you top four tennis players men's and women's side.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Right now, I know there's Patrick Center, and I know
- 17:20Speaker 2: Joker is still involved. Yeah, alcarez I believe.
- 17:24Speaker 7: Is he's been he's been injured.
- 17:25Speaker 2: He's been injured, but he's up there after that. Couldn't
- 17:28Speaker 2: tell you that. And on the women's side, definitely couldn't
- 17:30Speaker 2: tell you who were in the top four.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Coming back in just a second we will continue going
- 17:36Speaker 4: back and forth on all of these topics. Jason and

- 18:36Speaker 10: I partied hard and I actually did back then, and
- 18:40Speaker 10: I did not have a resume tape, but I made
- 18:42Speaker 10: one in my living room. Okay, what twenty two years old?
- 18:45Speaker 7: Ever row was?
- 18:46Speaker 10: And I sent it around the country and a recruiter
- 18:49Speaker 10: called me and said the Home Shopping Network would be
- 18:52Speaker 10: interested in interviewing you for a sports show that they're
- 18:55Speaker 10: going to be launching.
- 18:56Speaker 2: So they flew me to Tampa.
- 18:57Speaker 10: Okay, and I obviously didn't get the job, but it
- 19:02Speaker 10: was the most amazing complex. It was incredible, and like
- 19:05Speaker 10: they're like, well, if you get this show, you know
- 19:08Speaker 10: you'll be talking selling sports memorabilia.
- 19:10Speaker 2: But if you.
- 19:11Speaker 10: Don't, we can have you selling women's jewelry.
- 19:13Speaker 12: Cubans are tony at this and that.
- 19:15Speaker 10: And obviously I wouldn't have been a great fit. I'm
- 19:18Speaker 10: not a salesman. I have RBF at all times. So, like,
- 19:21Speaker 10: my smiles always look fake, always like you've never seen
- 19:24Speaker 10: me smile, Like, oh, that's a genuine smile.
- 19:25Speaker 9: You're like Tech SAgs live weekdays from eight to eleven
- 19:28Speaker 9: on the Zone.
- 19:52Speaker 4: J It's just chip Ower Sports Talk on a Thursday afternoon,
- 19:58Speaker 4: Jason Cornelie's DJ Hicks Corp.
- 20:05Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I think I went all American today. Okay, well, I
- 20:08Speaker 2: mean no, no, I take that back. I take that
- 20:11Speaker 2: back there. There is one South African Sorry.
- 20:14Speaker 7: Yesterday three four loop. Yeah, watching.
- 20:19Speaker 4: ESPN right now, they're going over ACC media days, and
- 20:25Speaker 4: I just we talked about it yesterday of being so
- 20:29Speaker 4: excited that that football season is just around the corner.
- 20:33Speaker 4: There are only a couple more weekends.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Until I think we're down to forty days or thirty
- 20:41Speaker 2: nine days still first game.
- 20:43Speaker 7: At Kyle Field.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Nope, fifty one days, fifty one days.
- 20:49Speaker 7: Okay, It's it's close. Okay, it is very close.
- 20:54Speaker 4: And looking at where the ACC is right now and
- 21:00Speaker 4: what they like, I'm just there's just yeah, the level
- 21:05Speaker 4: of excitement continues to grow when it comes to that.
- 21:10Speaker 2: It's forty three days until week zero, Okay, thank you.
- 21:13Speaker 2: That's that's what it was, Okay, Which now week week
- 21:17Speaker 2: zero is like the whole week. I think if if
- 21:21Speaker 2: you remember, they're they're they're doing there. I think they're
- 21:24Speaker 2: doing stuff like it's not just three games that Saturday,
- 21:30Speaker 2: including one overseas, like I think there was something like
- 21:33Speaker 2: just about every day, see, and there's eight games on Saturday.
- 21:38Speaker 7: Okay.
- 21:39Speaker 4: That leads me back to one of the things that
- 21:43Speaker 4: I have mentioned, we have talked about. I still think
- 21:47Speaker 4: ball season should be pushed back to week zero.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Agree, I mean yes, because here's.
- 21:53Speaker 7: What's going to happen.
- 21:54Speaker 4: It's what we're looking at, and how we were talking
- 21:57Speaker 4: about maybe the expansion of the World Cup and then
- 22:01Speaker 4: wanting to go to sixty four teams and how that
- 22:05Speaker 4: may or may not work depending on the country that
- 22:08Speaker 4: they go to and how many if they have enough
- 22:10Speaker 4: stadiums to really make it. I think either that or
- 22:13Speaker 4: the World Cup will be like two months long, three
- 22:15Speaker 4: months long to get all those games in. But with
- 22:17Speaker 4: college football, we know, like the Big Ten and the
- 22:21Speaker 4: SEC will keep pushing back and forth, and the end
- 22:26Speaker 4: of the pushing back and forth of what they are
- 22:28Speaker 4: doing is to see how much money will eventually get
- 22:31Speaker 4: put on the table for them to expand it beyond
- 22:33Speaker 4: where it is right now. If and when it finally
- 22:37Speaker 4: gets expanded, we you and I are like, we've done
- 22:41Speaker 4: the game show of is this a real Bowl game
- 22:45Speaker 4: or is it something that we've made up on the
- 22:47Speaker 4: way to give away some tickets. If this expands to sixteen, eight,
- 22:53Speaker 4: twenty twenty four teams, who is going to care about
- 22:56Speaker 4: Bowl games from I mean at any point in time.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Well, and more to the point, I think the playoff
- 23:05Speaker 2: is not going to want their own product diluted by
- 23:08Speaker 2: exactly by what else could be out there. The biggest,
- 23:13Speaker 2: the biggest issue, and we've we've addressed it is opt
- 23:16Speaker 2: out and play you know, players not willing to risk
- 23:21Speaker 2: anything for truly meaningless games.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Absolutely what they will become if when this expands yet,
- 23:29Speaker 4: I mean.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I that's why I think we both love the idea.
- 23:35Speaker 2: If you move half of these bowl games to the
- 23:41Speaker 2: beginning of the following season, it works the same way.
- 23:45Speaker 2: I mean, it actually helps you from a scheduling standpoint yep,
- 23:48Speaker 2: because you know you will know who your opponent is
- 23:51Speaker 2: by the end of the last season. You know that's
- 23:53Speaker 2: going to be first game, you know where it's going
- 23:55Speaker 2: to be, you know all those things. It takes out
- 23:59Speaker 2: kind of the the hassle that you come that you
- 24:02Speaker 2: come across with the current bull set up where you're
- 24:05Speaker 2: waiting until Bowl selection Sunday and once you find it out,
- 24:07Speaker 2: Oh now I got to get a room at a
- 24:09Speaker 2: Ramada Inn in Burningham, Alabama to go, you know, watch
- 24:13Speaker 2: my team play in the gmacuh Big Daddy's Crawfish whatever
- 24:20Speaker 2: Bowl that that's become. So I like that I mean,
- 24:26Speaker 2: I like that idea, and that way you can have
- 24:28Speaker 2: these interconference matchups that we're kind of afraid are gonna
- 24:34Speaker 2: begin to go by the wayside because a your conference
- 24:38Speaker 2: schedules are stretching the nine games now, so that means
- 24:41Speaker 2: you're you're losing a non conference game, which means now
- 24:46Speaker 2: you want your non conference opponents to kind of be
- 24:49Speaker 2: gimme wins because you want those you want those three ws.
- 24:52Speaker 2: It we just we're kind of starting to you know,
- 24:55Speaker 2: kind of spiral down to to to this situation that
- 25:00Speaker 2: you know, much like we were talking about yesterday with
- 25:01Speaker 2: the NC Double A and eligibility. There's not a silver
- 25:04Speaker 2: bullet to solve it. But yeah, the some of these
- 25:08Speaker 2: some of these games, you really you're not watching the
- 25:11Speaker 2: same team that you watched for twelve weeks during the fall.
- 25:14Speaker 4: And that's the other part about it also, and it
- 25:17Speaker 4: goes into the recruiting schedule. It goes into a lot
- 25:22Speaker 4: of these issues that we're talking about that the NT
- 25:25Speaker 4: double A specific and specifically college football is having to
- 25:28Speaker 4: deal with. Again, the portal is closed by then, you know,
- 25:33Speaker 4: like the portal, both portals are like every portal is
- 25:37Speaker 4: closed by the time you get back around to August,
- 25:40Speaker 4: so that's taken care of.
- 25:41Speaker 7: You don't have to worry about that. Like you just said,
- 25:44Speaker 7: you know who your team is.
- 25:46Speaker 4: At that point, you are not having to go and
- 25:49Speaker 4: round them up and see who wants to play, see
- 25:51Speaker 4: who's trying to go and see what their draft status is,
- 25:54Speaker 4: trying to see if they're even going to be on
- 25:55Speaker 4: that tape. At that point, you know who your team is,
- 25:58Speaker 4: the coach, your coaching staff is there. You're not having
- 26:01Speaker 4: to worry about.
- 26:02Speaker 2: And here's just you know, here's just one that's kind
- 26:04Speaker 2: of inside. The weather is so much better. I mean,
- 26:08Speaker 2: think about how many of how many of these games
- 26:11Speaker 2: that are not played in Florida are just played in
- 26:15Speaker 2: miserable weather. And yeah, I'm looking at you North Texas.
- 26:19Speaker 2: You know, the Frisco Bowl and the Military Bowl and
- 26:22Speaker 2: whatever bowls that are played at the outdoor stadiums that
- 26:26Speaker 2: time of year. It is the worst. It is the worst.
- 26:29Speaker 2: And who wants to go there at that time of year.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Just again, it makes so much sense. And I don't
- 26:40Speaker 2: see how the bulls themselves, I know ESPN, most of
- 26:45Speaker 2: them are owned by ESPN, and so there's a minimum
- 26:48Speaker 2: threshold of money, and I believe it's pretty ridiculously low
- 26:53Speaker 2: to be one of these bowl sponsors. I think one
- 26:56Speaker 2: of them. And folks, please forgive me if I'm being misquoted,
- 27:00Speaker 2: but I think this was a legitimate amount. I think
- 27:04Speaker 2: you can sponsor a bowl for like one hundred and
- 27:07Speaker 2: fifty thousand. Now it's one of the bottom bottom too,
- 27:10Speaker 2: but that one hundred and fifty k is like no.
- 27:14Speaker 7: In terms of what you get from it, like at
- 27:16Speaker 7: a marketing standpoint.
- 27:17Speaker 2: I think that's why, like a city in Illinois was
- 27:20Speaker 2: the sponsor of the Bermuda Bowl a few years ago
- 27:23Speaker 2: because it was like ridiculously cheap and ESPN was so
- 27:26Speaker 2: desperate to find a sponsor. I think they even dropped
- 27:28Speaker 2: it below the one to fifty k. I think they
- 27:30Speaker 2: went down to like seventy five ultimately. But yeah, it
- 27:35Speaker 2: But here the flip side to this, and this is
- 27:39Speaker 2: where we are as you know, as a culture, these
- 27:43Speaker 2: games still get watched. You I mean, you look at
- 27:46Speaker 2: the ratings that they're drawing more eyeballs than the typical
- 27:50Speaker 2: ESPN programming during those times. It doesn't matter if it's
- 27:54Speaker 2: a one o'clock kickoff on a Wednesday for whatever reason
- 27:59Speaker 2: people are why, And and I think that's that's the
- 28:02Speaker 2: hurdle that you have. You have to convince ESPN and
- 28:05Speaker 2: everyone else that, yeah, you're you're giving up eyeballs in December,
- 28:09Speaker 2: but aren't you going to get more in August? Because
- 28:11Speaker 2: the desire to watch at that point in time is
- 28:14Speaker 2: going to be so high.
- 28:15Speaker 4: And again the you are you, Yes, they will be
- 28:19Speaker 4: losing some eyeballs, but they will be gaining more.
- 28:22Speaker 7: They're gonna.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Do it in a face situated with for for every
- 28:28Speaker 4: new playoff game you get, that's a Bowl game. That's
- 28:30Speaker 4: gotta go. And and because again I also think until
- 28:34Speaker 4: you get to that that main week. So obviously Thanksgiving
- 28:39Speaker 4: week is when some of them will start and you
- 28:41Speaker 4: have some men and then people kind of go back
- 28:43Speaker 4: to work. It's that week from like maybe December twentieth
- 28:47Speaker 4: through January third, that most people are off or traveling.
- 28:51Speaker 4: That's when it And when you said that's where the
- 28:53Speaker 4: eyeballs are, and I'm like, but are they really?
- 28:57Speaker 7: The TVs are on and that's all the ESPN cares about.
- 28:58Speaker 2: That's all they care about. People aren't watching these games.
- 29:01Speaker 7: The TVs are just on in the background. When everybody's
- 29:04Speaker 7: taking a nap.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Or that's you know, all the sickos who are used
- 29:09Speaker 2: to prop bets and everything else. It's like I get
- 29:13Speaker 2: some I get some midweek action.
- 29:15Speaker 4: But that's my point, like and all that, and and
- 29:17Speaker 4: that's where a lot of this is coming from, going
- 29:19Speaker 4: back to whether it's eligibility issues at the NC double A, like,
- 29:23Speaker 4: there are ways for them to help themselves, and and
- 29:29Speaker 4: and I think for ESPN to help college football specifically
- 29:35Speaker 4: not keep basically running itself into the ground scrambling after
- 29:40Speaker 4: the because again, the playoff is going to expand we
- 29:44Speaker 4: just don't know when. And so if you're going to
- 29:46Speaker 4: keep it to those twenty four schools, that's like let
- 29:50Speaker 4: the rest of them go back to being schools again
- 29:54Speaker 4: and not having to worry about the the other juggling
- 29:58Speaker 4: that they're having to do.
- 29:59Speaker 2: You know, one of the one of the major reasons
- 30:02Speaker 2: for decades that it was such a big deal to
- 30:03Speaker 2: make a bowl game versus the teams at dnn't is
- 30:06Speaker 2: you got those fifteen extra practices and you got the
- 30:09Speaker 2: bowl money. That stuff really doesn't matter anymore.
- 30:13Speaker 7: Absolutely does not.
- 30:15Speaker 2: And so if I'm being pragmatic here, I'm looking at Okay,
- 30:20Speaker 2: how can I maximize value with a declining product?
- 30:25Speaker 12: I e.
- 30:27Speaker 2: The first let's call it week and a half of
- 30:29Speaker 2: bowl games, shifting that to August, putting that inventory at
- 30:34Speaker 2: the end of the beginning of the new season with
- 30:38Speaker 2: full strength teams, because those games make those again, make
- 30:41Speaker 2: those games count. They're not exhibitions. They are your first
- 30:46Speaker 2: game of the new season. They're just going to be
- 30:49Speaker 2: played at a bowl site.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Coming back in just a second, we will continue these
- 30:55Speaker 4: conversations and more. You listen chip Ower Sports Talk taken

- 34:31Speaker 2: Speaking of dancing Saturday night Hispanic Form, because you were there, right, Yes, okay,
- 34:37Speaker 2: y'all were going that event was going up against the
- 34:39Speaker 2: Argentina uh Switzerland match. Yes, a certain points, how many
- 34:49Speaker 2: people were watching were watching the game on their phones.
- 34:52Speaker 7: There were there were a couple Okay.
- 34:54Speaker 2: I just uh, I forget where we were earlier in
- 34:57Speaker 2: the day and we got asked, are you going to
- 34:59Speaker 2: the Hispanic I'm like, no, I'm too tired, We're too old.
- 35:05Speaker 2: I don't want to get dressed up. And I was like,
- 35:08Speaker 2: wait a minute, Argentina matches tonight. It was like then
- 35:12Speaker 2: that reminded me. We were at a wedding reception the
- 35:16Speaker 2: night of the Highs the twenty twelve Heisman Trophy Awards ceremony,
- 35:19Speaker 2: and it was like this place better have good Wi
- 35:23Speaker 2: Fi or I'm going to be outside watching my phone
- 35:27Speaker 2: because it's like, I am not waiting to hear this news.
- 35:30Speaker 2: I am. I am going to watch this live to
- 35:32Speaker 2: make sure Johnny wins.
- 35:33Speaker 7: Yes.
- 35:33Speaker 4: Shout out to the Hispanic Form. Great event that was
- 35:36Speaker 4: that Argentina get match was that night. Also the UFC
- 35:41Speaker 4: fight with Connor McGregor that wasn't air quotes that that
- 35:45Speaker 4: wasn't was also going on that night. Glad I didn't
- 35:48Speaker 4: miss a whole lot with with that. I was I
- 35:52Speaker 4: was expecting, foolishly, I guess, for for that to be
- 35:59Speaker 4: excited and it was not.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Well, you know, again, they're definitely not gonna put out
- 36:07Speaker 2: the news because obviously it would have affected betting lines,
- 36:11Speaker 2: and obviously if you have to scrap the match, I mean,
- 36:13Speaker 2: that's that's a whole lot of money, kind of flush
- 36:15Speaker 2: down the drain. The words are that he may have
- 36:19Speaker 2: torn his ACL prior to the match during training, but again,
- 36:25Speaker 2: this is a guy whose body has been through a lot.
- 36:29Speaker 2: He has not taken the best care, even if he
- 36:33Speaker 2: looks physically fit. I mean, there's been a lot of
- 36:36Speaker 2: alcohol and a lot of coke that's gone through that
- 36:38Speaker 2: system in addition to who knows what else, and you know,
- 36:43Speaker 2: he hasn't won a match in over five years. So yeah,
- 36:48Speaker 2: this this did not I mean, this played out about
- 36:55Speaker 2: about what you would expect for a comeback. That kind
- 36:59Speaker 2: of just felt like it was out of nowhere.
- 37:02Speaker 4: Uh, why am I drawing a blank on the Paul
- 37:04Speaker 4: kid Jake Jake Paul, is that the are they boxing next?
- 37:09Speaker 2: I don't think. I don't think Jake Paul is going
- 37:11Speaker 2: to box again. I really don't after he got his
- 37:15Speaker 2: jaw broken. I don't think he's gonna. I don't think
- 37:20Speaker 2: he's gonna risk it. If anything, I see him looking
- 37:24Speaker 2: at his brother Logan and finding a way to take
- 37:27Speaker 2: that route, or he's gonna go pure promoter route, because
- 37:32Speaker 2: that's the That's the other thing he's done is he's
- 37:34Speaker 2: built out this promotion.
- 37:36Speaker 4: And I was gonna say the the payday that would be.
- 37:43Speaker 7: He and Connormar Gregor going at each other on Netflix.
- 37:50Speaker 2: I mean, I'll never I'll never say never, say never.
- 37:53Speaker 2: I just I really think that that beating he took,
- 37:58Speaker 2: he he may have just come to realization its desk
- 38:03Speaker 2: and just you know, make money off everyone else getting
- 38:06Speaker 2: the crap beat out of them than than to risk
- 38:09Speaker 2: doing it to myself.
- 38:10Speaker 7: And and I get that. I just.
- 38:13Speaker 4: Which brings me to another good question for both traditional boxing,
- 38:20Speaker 4: which has completely fallen off and now UFC have have
- 38:28Speaker 4: both of those. Like, I know, boxing is just and
- 38:31Speaker 4: it's sad because it is, and because I forget what
- 38:34Speaker 4: I was watching the other day talking about like the
- 38:37Speaker 4: just I remember my dad purchasing the the pay per
- 38:43Speaker 4: view fights of and it wasn't just the Mike Tyson
- 38:45Speaker 4: heavyweight fights. It was like what some of those big
- 38:48Speaker 4: middleweight fights of like either Marvin Hagler or Sugar Like though,
- 38:55Speaker 4: like those were draws for the longest and then that
- 38:58Speaker 4: fell off. Has had m m A and UFC have
- 39:03Speaker 4: because who.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Are so I really think UFC has fallen off and
- 39:11Speaker 2: basically kind of I don't want to say for the
- 39:13Speaker 2: same reasons as boxing, because the reason boxing fell off
- 39:17Speaker 2: is you had unscrupulous promoters who uh pocketed money, exploited fighters,
- 39:27Speaker 2: all these things. In the UFC, Dana White has largely
- 39:33Speaker 2: underpaid his talent.
- 39:35Speaker 7: Is That's why I was I.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Know that's I was trying to. I was trying. I
- 39:41Speaker 2: was trying to there is a comparison. It's not apples
- 39:43Speaker 2: for apples, but it's very similar.
- 39:45Speaker 7: They're both it's all a bag of fruit.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Yeah. I also think it's it's just a it's an
- 39:52Speaker 2: overexposed product, you know, doing doing a monthly pay per
- 39:56Speaker 2: view a LAH wrestling and of course now that irony
- 40:00Speaker 2: is both are owned by TKO I just I really
- 40:05Speaker 2: do think you you burn through so much of your talent.
- 40:09Speaker 2: You don't have a heavyweight, you don't have someone who's dominant. Uh,
- 40:13Speaker 2: you know, you've got some questions out there about you know,
- 40:17Speaker 2: could could this person beat a Jim Jones or you know,
- 40:23Speaker 2: you know things like that, and then you then you
- 40:30Speaker 2: tack on just the politics that you've brought into it
- 40:34Speaker 2: as well, and so you yeah, you're you're definitely trying
- 40:39Speaker 2: to reach for a certain a particular demographic, but you
- 40:44Speaker 2: kind of alienate the rest who maybe used to like
- 40:48Speaker 2: watching MMA fighting for what it was and and now
- 40:53Speaker 2: the product just feels like it's it's being marketed towards
- 40:57Speaker 2: one group and there's no one really compelling that you
- 41:00Speaker 2: feel like you want to watch anymore.
- 41:02Speaker 4: Is it very similar to how it was with boxing?
- 41:06Speaker 4: Is it that there is no heavyweight Like boxing really
- 41:11Speaker 4: started to fall off when there was no star that
- 41:17Speaker 4: was the heavyweight champion of the.
- 41:18Speaker 2: World and or at least a recognized.
- 41:22Speaker 4: Recognizable and you mentioned John Joe, like whether it was
- 41:26Speaker 4: the light heavyweight or the the heavyweights, Like you want
- 41:31Speaker 4: to know who the biggest, baddest dude is and if
- 41:34Speaker 4: there isn't one, and it's it's it's small, and I
- 41:39Speaker 4: think Max Holloway is his great like.
- 41:41Speaker 7: But if there's not like who people would be.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Patti the Baddie Apparent, every baddy or whatever his nickname is.
- 41:48Speaker 2: Apparently he he has the potential to become, you know,
- 41:52Speaker 2: someone in that in that middleweight category. I think that's
- 41:54Speaker 2: also another part of the problem is you have these stars,
- 41:58Speaker 2: but they are in these specific divisions, and because of
- 42:02Speaker 2: the weight classes, you don't you're you're not gonna get
- 42:06Speaker 2: two great stars going up against each other because if
- 42:08Speaker 2: one has to cut weight to go down to face,
- 42:11Speaker 2: they're not the same and then vice versa. And I think,
- 42:14Speaker 2: you know, that's part of the problem. The other problem
- 42:17Speaker 2: is we mentioned Jake Paul's trying to build out his promotion,
- 42:24Speaker 2: but the UFC really just doesn't have any competition right now.
- 42:26Speaker 2: And I really feel like, and you see this across
- 42:29Speaker 2: sports as a whole, When you don't have competition, it's
- 42:32Speaker 2: easy to get lazy because you can just put out whatever,
- 42:35Speaker 2: you put out whatever, and that's all that. People don't
- 42:39Speaker 2: have a choice. It's like either watch this or watch nothing.
- 42:43Speaker 2: So I also think the fact that UFC has become
- 42:47Speaker 2: the dominant MMA promotion, and they don't pay their they
- 42:53Speaker 2: don't pay their fighters competitively. That's starting to take its
- 42:57Speaker 2: toll on on that as well.

- 46:59Speaker 4: Chip outur Sports Talk on a Thursday afternoon Jason corne
- 47:01Speaker 4: Is Jared Hicks in for Chip. When did the Open
- 47:08Speaker 4: Championship become the last major.
- 47:13Speaker 2: As far as on the calendar?
- 47:14Speaker 7: On the calendar, it hasn't always been the last one,
- 47:17Speaker 7: has it?
- 47:18Speaker 2: No? Because I BELIEVEGA PGA was always always.
- 47:22Speaker 7: And I didn't know when I was sitting there, I'm.
- 47:24Speaker 2: Like, but I know that, I know. Kind of overall,
- 47:29Speaker 2: the PGA has lost its luster as one of the majors.
- 47:34Speaker 2: It's still considered a major because of the PGA tour period,
- 47:39Speaker 2: but I think the majority of golfers, obviously Masters is
- 47:44Speaker 2: held number one, the Open is probably number two, and
- 47:48Speaker 2: then the US Open has a strong three over the PGA,
- 47:55Speaker 2: and then number five is either TPC Sawgrass or or
- 48:00Speaker 2: the Waste Management Open, depending.
- 48:01Speaker 4: On depending on what you enjoy from from your golf
- 48:06Speaker 4: tournament and what you get, what you get to see
- 48:08Speaker 4: or as a player, what I will.
- 48:10Speaker 2: I will say this. So this year's Open is being
- 48:14Speaker 2: played at uh Royal Birkdale and they just they took
- 48:19Speaker 2: a camera out and showed what the rough is and
- 48:23Speaker 2: they dropped a ball. You can't see it. I mean
- 48:26Speaker 2: it is. It is tall, dead brown grass.
- 48:33Speaker 7: It is like deathly drop.
- 48:36Speaker 2: I was gonna say prayers if if you if if
- 48:39Speaker 2: you slice or you hook, prayers to you because you
- 48:43Speaker 2: may not find your ball and it may take you
- 48:45Speaker 2: a good two or three wax to get it out
- 48:48Speaker 2: of there.
- 48:48Speaker 7: Well and I.
- 48:49Speaker 4: Mean yes, But the the other part I heard was
- 48:52Speaker 4: if like it, if you land your ball and it's
- 48:56Speaker 4: gonna roll forever because it's just so like there's nothing slow.
- 49:00Speaker 4: The ground is just so dry out there, nothing's gonna
- 49:02Speaker 4: slow it down.
- 49:04Speaker 2: I mean, I haven't had a chance to watch round
- 49:07Speaker 2: one today. I know as far as the leader board
- 49:13Speaker 2: goes Obviously, if you follow golf, you'll you'll recognize more
- 49:18Speaker 2: of these names. But Cameron Young is is one of
- 49:21Speaker 2: the few names that I even recognize among the top ten. Currently,
- 49:28Speaker 2: Scottie is sitting tied for thirteen. I know Bryce and
- 49:32Speaker 2: d Chambos he's tied for fourth. But there's a pretty
- 49:37Speaker 2: good group that's think that Cameron young is in that's
- 49:39Speaker 2: that's also tied for fourth. But yeah, I haven't been
- 49:43Speaker 2: able to watch any footage today to see just kind
- 49:46Speaker 2: of how the chorus is playing and especially how the
- 49:48Speaker 2: weather is expected to be over the next three days.
- 49:51Speaker 7: Yeah, it is.
- 49:52Speaker 4: It is a very very tight leaderboard as they are
- 49:56Speaker 4: done over there right now. Minus five is the leader.
- 50:01Speaker 4: Two at minus four, a bunch of people at minus three,
- 50:08Speaker 4: a bunch of people to under.
- 50:10Speaker 2: I mean, I'll say this, obviously, Europe is a good
- 50:14Speaker 2: portion of Europe has been under a heat wave for
- 50:16Speaker 2: a considerable amount of time. It's odd to see the
- 50:20Speaker 2: guys playing the Open Championship in short sleeve polos.
- 50:24Speaker 7: Oh yeah, you like that.
- 50:26Speaker 4: Is something you but that and that was the other
- 50:28Speaker 4: thing what made me wonder, like is have the has
- 50:32Speaker 4: the how bad has or how much has the calendar
- 50:35Speaker 4: switched because yeah, you used to windy and cold and.
- 50:39Speaker 2: Well, but it's not. It's not a function of the calendar.
- 50:42Speaker 2: So this is when the Open typically is played. It's
- 50:46Speaker 2: just the fact that they moved the Uh they've moved
- 50:49Speaker 2: the PGA again. I guess. I guess it's kind of
- 50:56Speaker 2: a good bookend if you think about the Masters being
- 50:59Speaker 2: the first major in the Open and being the the
- 51:01Speaker 2: final one. But yeah, uh, I don't. I don't know
- 51:08Speaker 2: when that took place. I'm probably gonna have to say COVID.
- 51:14Speaker 4: It's it's been fairly recent and trying I was trying
- 51:17Speaker 4: to look that up and not having to to watch
- 51:20Speaker 4: any of it, Like, what is are you going to
- 51:23Speaker 4: be able to watch any this weekend?
- 51:24Speaker 2: Is that something that I believe? I mean, obviously Sunday
- 51:29Speaker 2: Sunday at around two o'clock. No, And I'll probably still
- 51:33Speaker 2: watch the third third place match on Saturday, which I
- 51:38Speaker 2: believe is also mid afternoon.
- 51:40Speaker 7: No multiview.
- 51:41Speaker 2: Uh, well, if it's on it's on NBC, is I
- 51:48Speaker 2: guess it. I guess it depends when they're when they're
- 51:50Speaker 2: they're broadgat.
- 51:51Speaker 7: When they actually do the live broadcast of.
- 51:52Speaker 2: It may have to fire up the peacock Saturday morning
- 51:56Speaker 2: to watch it live. I don't know anyway, I'll figure
- 51:58Speaker 2: I will probably watch some, especially if if certain people
- 52:02Speaker 2: get start moving up the leader board. I know today's
- 52:05Speaker 2: just day one, so it'll be interesting to see what
- 52:07Speaker 2: happens tomorrow. But definitely definitely have it on come Sunday
- 52:11Speaker 2: for sure.
- 52:12Speaker 4: Yeah, this will be I mean, this will be a
- 52:15Speaker 4: big weekend. As far as, like you said, the third
- 52:17Speaker 4: place game, do you think people are and I say
- 52:20Speaker 4: this because of the two teams, do you think it
- 52:24Speaker 4: will be an exciting match or.
- 52:29Speaker 7: On Saturday?
- 52:31Speaker 2: I would I would like to think so, simply because
- 52:35Speaker 2: the stats count. So you know, if you're in bop A,
- 52:39Speaker 2: you just saw two back to back matches where Messi
- 52:43Speaker 2: only has one goal out of two. So you have
- 52:48Speaker 2: an opportunity now if you can, if you can salvage
- 52:53Speaker 2: something out of this, something out of this, and especially
- 52:55Speaker 2: against a deflated England squad, you might be able to
- 53:00Speaker 2: to do do something and be entertaining. The funny thing
- 53:04Speaker 2: is the video going around now is from what I
- 53:10Speaker 2: forget what Minions movie.
- 53:11Speaker 4: Is question that are they going to actually want to
- 53:16Speaker 4: play in this?
- 53:16Speaker 7: But the minions.
- 53:19Speaker 2: I go back to the fact, I don't I genuinely
- 53:22Speaker 2: don't believe any squad, any team wants to play this
- 53:28Speaker 2: in a third third place game. I really don't. I mean,
- 53:31Speaker 2: believe it or not. Prior to the the NFL AFL merger,
- 53:35Speaker 2: there used to be a third place game in the
- 53:37Speaker 2: old NFL, and even those guys didn't want to play
- 53:41Speaker 2: in it because you're you're playing for third And I
- 53:45Speaker 2: know it's different, especially when we talk about you soccer,
- 53:49Speaker 2: because I've had to coach I've had to coach that
- 53:52Speaker 2: third place game, and it's like, you know, it's a
- 53:54Speaker 2: difference between at least getting a metal and getting nothing.
- 53:59Speaker 2: But you know, ultimately, you know, in the context of this,
- 54:04Speaker 2: I'm sure those guys are just ready to get ready
- 54:07Speaker 2: to get home because you've had both teams had disappointing
- 54:10Speaker 2: losses in the semifinal round. You want to get, you know,
- 54:16Speaker 2: whatever rest you can because Club Club Soccer is already
- 54:21Speaker 2: starting back up. Guys are starting to arrive to the facilities,
- 54:25Speaker 2: they're gonna start doing their preseason matches, including a number
- 54:29Speaker 2: of teams that will be traveling internationally for for preseason matches.
- 54:33Speaker 2: So yeah, I get. I get why there is a
- 54:38Speaker 2: third place match, but it's gonna be it's gonna be tough.
- 54:44Speaker 2: It's gonna be tough for certain guys to want to
- 54:47Speaker 2: get out there. And then also there's gonna be some
- 54:50Speaker 2: that you would think would get some playing time and
- 54:53Speaker 2: probably won't.
- 54:54Speaker 7: It's good and I can't.
- 54:55Speaker 4: I'm like losing the third place game, which means you've
- 55:00Speaker 4: you're taking back to back elve like I because you're
- 55:06Speaker 4: I remember, for for Wesley's I like, that is not
- 55:09Speaker 4: the fun game to be a part of, especially knowing
- 55:12Speaker 4: like it's just yeah, you're taking that chance of taking
- 55:16Speaker 4: that back to back loss.
- 55:17Speaker 2: It's different like in the context of the Olympics, because
- 55:19Speaker 2: you're playing for the bronze medal. In this you're I
- 55:24Speaker 2: guess you, I think you get a medal U for
- 55:27Speaker 2: coming in third, but and and maybe your your prize
- 55:31Speaker 2: money that you get is a little bit more than
- 55:35Speaker 2: the fourth place team. But it's again, I think for
- 55:38Speaker 2: the majority of these guys, after such a heartbreaking, heartbreaking losses,
- 55:44Speaker 2: you you're just ready to get home after being you know,
- 55:47Speaker 2: over here for what six weeks now?
- 55:50Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's been I mean again, it's been a
- 55:53Speaker 4: great tournament.
- 55:54Speaker 2: Oh, I mean one of the easily one of the
- 55:59Speaker 2: best World Cups.
- 56:00Speaker 4: By far, and that. Yeah, and it goes back to
- 56:02Speaker 4: what the expansion is going to look like. I hope
- 56:04Speaker 4: if and when they do expand it that the host
- 56:08Speaker 4: country will be able to to handle that.
- 56:12Speaker 2: I think looking ahead like next the next in twenty thirty,
- 56:17Speaker 2: it will They're gonna be playing in three different countries
- 56:21Speaker 2: within the vicinity of each other to accommodate. And that's
- 56:24Speaker 2: based on current numbers, that's not even counting on an expansion.
- 56:28Speaker 4: So we'll be able to see how that goes coming
- 56:32Speaker 4: up at the top of the next hour, we you
- 56:35Speaker 4: And again I mentioned this to Jared, and I really
- 56:38Speaker 4: want to talk about it because I'm I am curious
- 56:40Speaker 4: as to what the the actual state of Lebron is
- 56:46Speaker 4: right now in terms of the.
- 56:49Speaker 7: Is that's your right arm or your left on your
- 56:50Speaker 7: right right arm? Yeah, just from work out there.
- 56:54Speaker 2: No, it's it's old man's shoulder you sleep on, you
- 56:57Speaker 2: sleep on it the wrong way and it just it
- 56:59Speaker 2: bothers you. It is all day long.
- 57:01Speaker 4: The worst Chip au Er Sports start coming back in
- 57:04Speaker 4: just a second with Jason and Jared on Sports Radio
