- 0:04Speaker 1: Lucy Rodin launched her CFB Lucy brand, partnering with Betches
- 0:09Speaker 1: Media and home Field Apparel. You can follow her at
- 0:12Speaker 1: CFB Lucy twice in a week now like a month
- 0:16Speaker 1: without speaking to her. Now it's two times in a week.
- 0:18Speaker 1: And it seems to me, just based on our conversations
- 0:20Speaker 1: before we started here, the Knicks winning a championship have
- 0:23Speaker 1: really disrupted your life, Lucy, Like you have.
- 0:26Speaker 2: No idea one.
- 0:28Speaker 3: I've had to leave sewing class early for the last month.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Oh jeez, and so now I'm behind. I haven't even
- 0:33Speaker 3: hemmed my pants yet. So everyone else's hymns in their pants.
- 0:36Speaker 2: I haven't. I have spent so much money, so much money.
- 0:42Speaker 3: I my hangover from Saturday ended like yesterday.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Right it was, so that doesn't happen to me.
- 0:51Speaker 3: I just like I could not have had another game
- 0:54Speaker 3: with this, Like I don't know what I would have done.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Like nix and six would have been a disaster.
- 0:58Speaker 3: And remember I'm not Taylor. I've wanted this for weeks.
- 1:05Speaker 3: He's won this for a lifetime.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Yes, well, speaking of Taylor, so is he'll love this?
- 1:10Speaker 1: Lucy texted me right after the Knicks had won. Uh,
- 1:13Speaker 1: the NBA title, and she said, I'm taking Taylor out.
- 1:16Speaker 1: And I responded, Shirley Temple's.
- 1:19Speaker 4: On me as many as he wants.
- 1:21Speaker 1: They're on me tonight, okay, And she responded, Nos two,
- 1:24Speaker 1: I am making Taylor. I am forcing Taylor to drink
- 1:27Speaker 1: real alcohol tonight. And so put us there. You hung
- 1:31Speaker 1: out with Taylor after they won the title? Did he
- 1:33Speaker 1: indeed drink alcohol?
- 1:35Speaker 2: He did.
- 1:36Speaker 3: I did not get home till like six am that night,
- 1:40Speaker 3: and I Taylor, you don't even know this, but when
- 1:41Speaker 3: I was walking back to the subway, I really don't
- 1:44Speaker 3: remember much of this, but apparently I was talking to
- 1:47Speaker 3: our friend Kaylee just about the power of friendship and
- 1:50Speaker 3: how important is this.
- 1:51Speaker 4: That was the whole that's the time of it, with
- 1:53Speaker 4: hemless pants, just.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Walking yeah, hemless pants.
- 1:57Speaker 3: And I'm just like, my voice still sounds like I've
- 2:00Speaker 3: been drinking, like I we were. I had pizza that
- 2:03Speaker 3: we had gotten it like four in the morning, and
- 2:05Speaker 3: I'm saving it for breakfast, which I did not he
- 2:08Speaker 3: did not end up having. And I had free tickets
- 2:10Speaker 3: to go to like a musical that day that I.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Couldn't turn down. So I'm alos hungover.
- 2:14Speaker 3: I've ever been at the life at the musical The Outsiders,
- 2:17Speaker 3: and you're like, you turn.
- 2:19Speaker 4: It down a musical on The Outsiders.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Yep, yep, And like I didn't really remember the plot
- 2:26Speaker 3: of it that well. And so pony Boy is singing
- 2:28Speaker 3: at me about wanting to get out of Oklahoma, and
- 2:31Speaker 3: at that moment in time, I just could not be
- 2:33Speaker 3: more grateful that he was singing because the noises my
- 2:35Speaker 3: stomach was making, no no.
- 2:39Speaker 4: The only thing I.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Remember about The Outsiders is pony Boy, So it's perfect
- 2:43Speaker 5: that he is the one singing at you.
- 2:45Speaker 3: I knew one of them died, and when he did died,
- 2:48Speaker 3: I was like, remember that, I remember that.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Yes, So what was Dell like? Was he glowing?
- 2:53Speaker 6: Like?
- 2:53Speaker 4: Uh? What was Taylor like after winning a title?
- 2:56Speaker 3: Taylor's a really interesting person to watch the next with,
- 2:59Speaker 3: And I would like, I really empathize with it, because like,
- 3:02Speaker 3: if I had a really big game, I'd be like
- 3:03Speaker 3: Taylor serry, stoic.
- 3:05Speaker 2: He just kind of like stands there.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Right, And so when we went and watched Game four,
- 3:10Speaker 3: which obviously did not start off superstrong, I just left
- 3:13Speaker 3: him at a certain point. I found other people I knew,
- 3:15Speaker 3: and he just he stood in the same spot.
- 3:17Speaker 4: That's probably what he wants.
- 3:19Speaker 2: It was like, I was like, I can leave him.
- 3:20Speaker 2: I know where he's going to be. It's not going
- 3:22Speaker 2: to move.
- 3:22Speaker 4: I'll be able to find him.
- 3:24Speaker 2: And guess why. When I got back into the third quarter,
- 3:26Speaker 2: he was standing right there. I said, I'm safe.
- 3:29Speaker 4: It's stude.
- 3:30Speaker 6: The craziest part about that game four, we go to
- 3:33Speaker 6: this bar. Their AC is broken. The bar is absolutely packed.
- 3:38Speaker 6: It is a it's you're right man ripping sweat there.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Awful. Game five.
- 3:44Speaker 6: Lucy's like, what are you going to do for the game?
- 3:46Speaker 6: I go, I have to go back to that bar.
- 3:48Speaker 6: She goes, what if the AC is so broken?
- 3:50Speaker 4: I go, I don't care if the ace's broken.
- 3:55Speaker 3: I passed on that. I said, i'll meet you after.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I'm not going back there.
- 3:59Speaker 2: And so when.
- 4:00Speaker 3: We met up with you, you were just like you
- 4:02Speaker 3: were still kind of like shocked and still like a
- 4:05Speaker 3: little bit stoic. And then we got you drinking, and
- 4:08Speaker 3: then it was just like a great party and we
- 4:09Speaker 3: had a ton of fun.
- 4:12Speaker 1: That all of a sudden it's on top of a
- 4:13Speaker 1: school bus, ripping the roof off of me.
- 4:16Speaker 3: It was so gween, Like I made a point to
- 4:19Speaker 3: stay kind of far away from MSG because I was like,
- 4:22Speaker 3: I love the Knicks enough that from this little run
- 4:25Speaker 3: that I want to celebrate, but not enough that like
- 4:27Speaker 3: I need that in my life. So I kept the
- 4:30Speaker 3: Taylor walked nearby or through because you were right at
- 4:32Speaker 3: the you were right there.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:34Speaker 6: So I was in Midtown and I was meeting Lucy
- 4:36Speaker 6: in like the Soho area. I had to walk the
- 4:39Speaker 6: entire way because like public transportation was completely shut down,
- 4:43Speaker 6: but there were so many police barricades getting.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Set up the police.
- 4:48Speaker 6: The police made it more dangerous setting up as many
- 4:51Speaker 6: barricades as they did, because we were just boxed in
- 4:54Speaker 6: like sardines the entire night, trying to get out of there.
- 4:57Speaker 6: And everybody's walking towards Midtown and I'm trying to walk
- 5:00Speaker 6: the opposite way. So I'm walking through through the crowd
- 5:03Speaker 6: and I'm walking and I'm trying to fight through this crowd.
- 5:05Speaker 6: Everybody's shoving, everybody's shoving, the police are throwing tear gas.
- 5:08Speaker 6: I'm like walking over here. Lucy's like, meet me at
- 5:11Speaker 6: this crying. I meant at this bar. I meet her
- 5:14Speaker 6: at that bar. She's like, actually, we're at this bar now,
- 5:16Speaker 6: I'm like, my feet are bleeding, but this is still
- 5:19Speaker 6: the greatest night of my life.
- 5:20Speaker 3: I was so like, I was very I was the
- 5:24Speaker 3: happiest drunk I've been that.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I was going up to all.
- 5:26Speaker 3: The police been like, you know, this is for you too,
- 5:28Speaker 3: you deserve to celebrate as well.
- 5:29Speaker 4: They were like, okay, go yeah from iOS so trying
- 5:37Speaker 4: and I.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Don't know why she's coming up and talk to us,
- 5:39Speaker 2: but everyone. I was like, this is for you, man,
- 5:41Speaker 2: and They're like.
- 5:43Speaker 4: This isn't just for me, this isn't just for New York.
- 5:45Speaker 4: This is for all of us, even you, officer.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Yes, they were not having it, but I had the
- 5:51Speaker 3: best time. I wouldn't want to celebrate with anyone but Taylor.
- 5:53Speaker 3: It was like the perfect New York celebration.
- 5:56Speaker 4: I tell it.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Did you feel like you were floating rather than walking?
- 5:59Speaker 6: I mean, so what made the walk very easy is
- 6:05Speaker 6: I did not look up from my phone for one
- 6:07Speaker 6: second and I was just refreshing and refreshing. And anybody
- 6:11Speaker 6: who even posted the slightest bit of championship merch, I
- 6:14Speaker 6: was like, bye bye.
- 6:16Speaker 4: The next the.
- 6:18Speaker 6: Next three months of my life, there are just gonna
- 6:21Speaker 6: be random packages coming. We're like, why did I order
- 6:24Speaker 6: a Snoopy plush doll with the Jalen Brunson Jerry I ordered.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Dariel Hawani, who bought a Snoopy collaboration for his kids
- 6:31Speaker 1: with the.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Knicks because he just doesn't know what to do with himself.
- 6:33Speaker 5: I mean, you're gonna have a Nick's phone like a
- 6:39Speaker 5: landline that you what am I supposed to do with
- 6:41Speaker 5: this thing?
- 6:42Speaker 3: Illustrated by the time he showed up, he was like,
- 6:45Speaker 3: I've bought six T shirts already.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Wait, so what is currently going on in your apartment
- 6:52Speaker 1: right now? With concerts tickets?
- 6:53Speaker 4: You tell me?
- 6:54Speaker 3: My guy's so like my life is following apart this
- 6:57Speaker 3: week in a great.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Way, like things have better been Jesus been better for me.
- 7:01Speaker 3: However, I've just been making like a series of really
- 7:04Speaker 3: poor decisions that I don't regret, and I missed my
- 7:07Speaker 3: little concert windows. So I have my ticket guy up,
- 7:10Speaker 3: who's finally moving because I really want to go see
- 7:12Speaker 3: the Strokes, and I got a presale takeup, but that
- 7:14Speaker 3: I forgot about the presale, so that I logged on
- 7:17Speaker 3: while we were here, and he's moving in the right direction,
- 7:19Speaker 3: so we might be getting concert tickets together.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Everybody.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll go with you. Is it in New York?
- 7:25Speaker 2: It's in New York. I love the Strokes.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I've never seen them and they're doing like a like
- 7:29Speaker 3: a special like New York show, So I was like, I.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Should go, Uzy.
- 7:32Speaker 1: I love the idea of just people who are a
- 7:34Speaker 1: getting so wrapped up in the hysteria of the next
- 7:37Speaker 1: winning a title.
- 7:38Speaker 4: They're forgetting to do simple and basic things with their life.
- 7:41Speaker 3: You know, Oh my god, I have a cleaner coming
- 7:43Speaker 3: today because I was like, man, what was.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Lost time I clean my apartment?
- 7:46Speaker 4: Lucy.
- 7:47Speaker 6: I'm at the point right now where I can't even
- 7:50Speaker 6: move on from the finals. Everything that like used to
- 7:52Speaker 6: bring me joy has taken a back seat to just
- 7:55Speaker 6: consuming as much nixed content as possible. I'm wondering that
- 7:58Speaker 6: high how what's the acceptable window for this where my
- 8:02Speaker 6: friends are like, hey, do you want to go golfing?
- 8:03Speaker 6: Do you want to go to this restaurant? Like, No,
- 8:05Speaker 6: I'd rather just watch mckel bridges on Instagram life.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I honestly feel like you have at least three months,
- 8:12Speaker 3: cause like this was a you know, it's been a minute.
- 8:14Speaker 3: We weren't alive, we weren't close to a live and like,
- 8:18Speaker 3: I've wanted this for weeks.
- 8:19Speaker 2: You've wanted this forever.
- 8:21Speaker 3: So I feel like you have at least three months
- 8:23Speaker 3: to be like hey, like I'm I'm you for work
- 8:26Speaker 3: right now?
- 8:26Speaker 4: See you then, right now.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna make it. He's supposed to go to Lake
- 8:30Speaker 1: Tahoe with me for a golf tournament. He's gonna be like, Stu,
- 8:32Speaker 1: I can't go. I gotta watch McHale Bridges on Instagram.
- 8:35Speaker 4: No, no, no, let me help you out. There are
- 8:37Speaker 4: phases to this.
- 8:38Speaker 5: As a fan who has seen championships in basketball before,
- 8:43Speaker 5: you're going to be locked in like this, tell about
- 8:45Speaker 5: the NBA draft. Once you start seeing other teams trying
- 8:49Speaker 5: to build the team to beat the Knicks, then you're
- 8:51Speaker 5: gonna almost start to lock in again and say, all right,
- 8:54Speaker 5: maybe I can do other things, but you have You're
- 8:56Speaker 5: still gonna check it every once in a while, maybe
- 8:58Speaker 5: once or twice a week throughout the summer. So you
- 9:01Speaker 5: do have about three months, like Lucy said, but this
- 9:04Speaker 5: version of you only gonna last about another week.
- 9:06Speaker 6: And Stu, you Stu, you don't have to worry about Tahoe.
- 9:09Speaker 6: I'm gonna be in Tahoe with bells and whistles on.
- 9:12Speaker 6: And also I'm gonna be wearing a game warn Jalen
- 9:15Speaker 6: Brunson jersey that I just bought on Eben.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Yes, I have asked Nick to introduce you to the
- 9:19Speaker 1: crowd as a New York Nick and NBA champion.
- 9:23Speaker 5: No chance are getting to Jalen Brunton and Ariel HOCKPORTI
- 9:25Speaker 5: maybe could you show up in one of those jerseys.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Still impressive. So you're good for Tahoe, is what you're saying.
- 9:31Speaker 4: You'll be fine.
- 9:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm good for Tyle. I'm only going to be
- 9:33Speaker 6: wearing Nick stuff for the rest of my life though.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Like my here's what I would say Taylor, because winning
- 9:37Speaker 1: one title, as we've discussed, is he Yes, he has
- 9:40Speaker 1: experience winning a championship.
- 9:41Speaker 4: It was one we won ten in one night.
- 9:45Speaker 6: You know, Lucy, when I when I packed for this
- 9:48Speaker 6: Finals trip, I only packed Nick stuff, And somehow I'm
- 9:52Speaker 6: looking into my suitcase right now, I've added about twenty
- 9:56Speaker 6: five Nicked T shirts. And that's not even stuff I
- 9:58Speaker 6: order online. I'm just going on the sh I'm going
- 10:00Speaker 6: to stores. I'm seeing this, the Rhyanstone T shirt first off,
- 10:05Speaker 6: the bedazzled T shirt. One of the worst T shirts
- 10:08Speaker 6: I've ever seen in my life for a championship team.
- 10:10Speaker 4: I bought it. I bought two, of course, one for
- 10:13Speaker 4: very nice of you.
- 10:15Speaker 3: I like, I keep walking past the guys on the street.
- 10:18Speaker 3: But I'm gonna buy some today because I have sewing class,
- 10:20Speaker 3: so that way I can crop them appropriately to it's
- 10:23Speaker 3: my last it's my last time in sewing class. Once
- 10:25Speaker 3: I finish hamming my pants, then the afternoon it's mine.
- 10:29Speaker 3: I could do what I want. So I'm gonna crop
- 10:31Speaker 3: my little Knicks T shirt because I don't think I'm
- 10:33Speaker 3: gonna go to the parade, but I think I'm gonna
- 10:35Speaker 3: be in the vicinity. Okay, well you are, yes, so
- 10:40Speaker 3: it's gonna be there ten am.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Ten am.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's little early yestle Taylor. You should go tonight.
- 10:48Speaker 3: I mean yeah, no, they're telling everyone like, if you
- 10:49Speaker 3: want a spot, you should probably be there by three am. Yes,
- 10:52Speaker 3: I'm only going to this for weeks record with Taylor
- 10:56Speaker 3: at three am.
- 10:57Speaker 4: If he's willing to get.
- 10:58Speaker 6: There, I'll sleep on I'll sleep on the streets. I
- 11:00Speaker 6: don't I don't care if I if I have to
- 11:02Speaker 6: do that, Lucy. The only thing I'll say about the
- 11:04Speaker 6: shirts on the street, be very careful examining them. Some
- 11:08Speaker 6: of them on the championship roster, say players like Lebron James,
- 11:11Speaker 6: and then some of the ones with the cartoons. You
- 11:13Speaker 6: have to look at the faces very carefully because they're
- 11:16Speaker 6: just very clearly using chat GPT to generate some of
- 11:19Speaker 6: these images, and like, that's not Jalen Brunson.
- 11:22Speaker 2: To be honest, I want the Lebron James one.
- 11:24Speaker 4: I was going to say.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I was already going to buy it.
- 11:32Speaker 4: They can't believe how old are you, Lucy? You take
- 11:35Speaker 4: sewing classes? I can't believe it.
- 11:37Speaker 6: I love that.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, And here's the thing.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Not good at it And that's been kind of devastating
- 11:43Speaker 3: for me to find out. I also didn't realize how
- 11:45Speaker 3: bad of a listener I was until I took this
- 11:48Speaker 3: sewing class and it's like a small class.
- 11:50Speaker 2: There's only like seven us in there.
- 11:52Speaker 3: And she goes up and she shows us what to do,
- 11:54Speaker 3: and I'm listening and I sit back down and go, man,
- 11:56Speaker 3: not a word. And they didn't get a word of that.
- 11:59Speaker 3: And I like, just I am a very like wing
- 12:02Speaker 3: it type of gal. You can't be doing that with sewing,
- 12:04Speaker 3: I so my pants on backwards.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I had to see him.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Rip them and then flip them because my pants were
- 12:09Speaker 3: inside out.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Also, I couldn't even use my pockets because I missed
- 12:12Speaker 2: those up so bad. So sewing not for me, but
- 12:15Speaker 2: I'm glad I tried.
- 12:17Speaker 4: What to going through your mind while she's talking? Is
- 12:19Speaker 4: it just Brendan soresby the entire time?
- 12:21Speaker 2: It's legitimately I sit down and go what happened?
- 12:25Speaker 3: Like I like black out every time she explains the
- 12:28Speaker 3: instructions to me, I black out and lovely.
- 12:30Speaker 2: And there's this really lovely woman who sits to my table.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Her name is Lydio. She's from Barcelona.
- 12:34Speaker 3: This is our second time taking a sewing class, so
- 12:36Speaker 3: she has been able to help me out because I
- 12:38Speaker 3: think she just assumes I don't listen, like she's got
- 12:40Speaker 3: to be like there's something wrong.
- 12:41Speaker 2: And it's timed.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Out poorly with the Knicks finals run, where every time
- 12:45Speaker 3: I've left early to go watch the game and I
- 12:48Speaker 3: have to I will say that the Venn diagram of
- 12:52Speaker 3: Knicks fans taking sewing glasses is kind of just me,
- 12:55Speaker 3: and so no one else is leaving early.
- 12:58Speaker 4: Right, Taylor, do me ever, get Lydia on the show. Please, I.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Shouldn't go to last class. I was so nervous about her.
- 13:05Speaker 3: I'm hoping she shows up today.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Lucy.
- 13:09Speaker 6: The ven diagram I'm battling right now is Nicks fan
- 13:12Speaker 6: who's also a Carolina fan, because the College World Series
- 13:15Speaker 6: is going on right now, and all my Carolina fans
- 13:18Speaker 6: are texting me updates about how Carolina is doing in Omaha,
- 13:21Speaker 6: and I'm like, guys, my my sports fan with right now,
- 13:25Speaker 6: that's right, I'll catch up on the on this baseball
- 13:28Speaker 6: run when I when I get to it right now,
- 13:30Speaker 6: it's all Nicks.
- 13:32Speaker 3: It's I was like, and I don't even really care
- 13:36Speaker 3: that much. When I saw the Hurricanes one the Stanley Cup,
- 13:40Speaker 3: like pissed me off because all, like all my friends
- 13:44Speaker 3: from North Carolina are all celebrated, and I'm like, I.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Don't really feel like this is about you. This is
- 13:50Speaker 2: like not in your moment, Like I like, it made.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Me mad seeing them celebrating, and like I kind of
- 13:54Speaker 3: thought you guys were all just like sitting around jealous
- 13:56Speaker 3: of me, Like I sort of assumed that was what
- 13:59Speaker 3: was up.
- 13:59Speaker 2: And now here, oh look, we.
- 14:01Speaker 3: We did something too like this is really like like
- 14:03Speaker 3: calm down, like get Legit make me mad.
- 14:06Speaker 2: And my friends were very happy.
- 14:07Speaker 3: I didn't send one congrats tax because I was like,
- 14:09Speaker 3: this is not I'm not happy for you only been.
- 14:11Speaker 5: In New York for a little bit and I was
- 14:13Speaker 5: born in New York and I couldn't get credit for
- 14:15Speaker 5: being a New Yorker from stuget.
- 14:17Speaker 4: Well, you're not well.
- 14:17Speaker 2: You weren't going up to the cops congratulating them on
- 14:20Speaker 2: the time. I was.
- 14:21Speaker 1: That's a good point, I was putting, Lucy, would you
- 14:24Speaker 1: would you classify yourself now as a New York Knicks fan?
- 14:27Speaker 4: Exposed Brick in her place.
- 14:29Speaker 5: Of course, she's a New Yorker, like I feel like
- 14:31Speaker 5: there's a shared cable running through like her window with
- 14:34Speaker 5: a neighbor.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Here are my options. I can be a Knicks fan,
- 14:38Speaker 3: or I can be a Hornets fan.
- 14:39Speaker 1: You get well, I mean the Hornets are going for
- 14:42Speaker 1: it right now, I mean pass pass.
- 14:46Speaker 3: I have a higher chance of getting hit by LaMelo
- 14:47Speaker 3: Ball's card than I ever do. See the Hornets with
- 14:50Speaker 3: the NBA Final.
- 14:51Speaker 5: I got a ball and an They're fun to watch,
- 14:56Speaker 5: isn't it one ball now or something?
- 15:00Speaker 4: You mean his son low one ball.
- 15:02Speaker 5: Yeah, hopefully this never gets testicular cancer.
- 15:07Speaker 1: But is he as says the sewing it's very nice
- 15:15Speaker 1: of you as the sewing teacher is giving you instructions,
- 15:18Speaker 1: and you don't remember a thing you said by the
- 15:20Speaker 1: time you get back to your it's.
- 15:24Speaker 4: Just laugh out laugh funny.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Izz He was wondering, is it because of Brendan Soorsby
- 15:29Speaker 1: in that story? That's good forget about the next for
- 15:32Speaker 1: a second? Is Soresby the reason you're not listening to
- 15:35Speaker 1: your sewing teacher.
- 15:36Speaker 3: I think it's like psychological issues, but it's definitely played
- 15:39Speaker 3: a part in it. Sorsby has consumed my life along
- 15:42Speaker 3: with the knicks in away the last week that I'm
- 15:45Speaker 3: I also needed that to be done. When he announced that, Hey,
- 15:49Speaker 3: I'm I'm leaving, I'm entering the supplemental draft. I was
- 15:52Speaker 3: at a dinner and I literally just shoved all the
- 15:55Speaker 3: food into my mouth, got the check quickly, like I
- 15:58Speaker 3: was and I had sat down like me maybe twenty
- 16:00Speaker 3: minutes prior, like it was a fast place. And then
- 16:03Speaker 3: I ran home because I was like I got to
- 16:05Speaker 3: film something about this, like, oh my god, what's going on.
- 16:08Speaker 2: I'm glad it's done.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Because it was the most I think chaotic week we've
- 16:12Speaker 3: had in college athletics in.
- 16:14Speaker 2: A long long time.
- 16:15Speaker 3: It was something we'll look back at now and be like,
- 16:19Speaker 3: why in the world did Texas Tech do this?
- 16:21Speaker 2: They threw it all out there.
- 16:24Speaker 3: They ruined their entire reputation, I think for a very
- 16:27Speaker 3: very long time for nothing, for absolutely nothing, and I
- 16:32Speaker 3: actually think it has really long term like ripple effects.
- 16:36Speaker 2: What I loved so much.
- 16:37Speaker 3: About the poetic ending of this is that it came
- 16:40Speaker 3: down to kN Paxton, the Texas State Attorneys General, coming
- 16:44Speaker 3: out and saying, I'm going to sue the Big Twelve
- 16:47Speaker 3: for violating antitrust. If you guys get in the way
- 16:50Speaker 3: of Texas Tech, if you try to ban them from
- 16:51Speaker 3: playing in a championship game, whatever, We'll sue you into
- 16:54Speaker 3: it oblivion.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Can't do that.
- 16:56Speaker 3: And so all the other attorneys generals in like local
- 16:59Speaker 3: state Oklahoma, Kansas that have teams in the Big Twelve,
- 17:02Speaker 3: they were like, oh, we'll fight back, buddy. And because
- 17:05Speaker 3: they did that, because he formalized a letter, he was
- 17:08Speaker 3: able the Big Twelve was able to go find the
- 17:10Speaker 3: most expensive law firm they can get, send it go
- 17:14Speaker 3: to a federal courthouse and then file something against Paxton
- 17:18Speaker 3: and Texas Tech that they would have never been able
- 17:20Speaker 3: to do before because there was nothing formal there and
- 17:23Speaker 3: Tech knew they couldn't fight back again. It against that,
- 17:25Speaker 3: And what makes it so perfect is that Cody Campbell,
- 17:28Speaker 3: Texas Tech's resident billionaire who won't keep his hands out
- 17:31Speaker 3: of college football, donated to Kent Paxton, who ended.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Up causing Brendan Sorosby not to play.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Wow. I love that, yir Lucy. And this Brendan Soorsby
- 17:41Speaker 4: to my sewing teacher either. I mean, in this.
- 17:44Speaker 6: Brendan Sorsby story, there were so many people like taking
- 17:47Speaker 6: stands against Texas Tech. Maybe the best one Michigan Volleyball
- 17:53Speaker 6: canceling a game against Texas Tech's volleyball team because they
- 17:57Speaker 6: were like, they were like, we're not playing your athletic department.
- 18:00Speaker 6: How much credit do you think Michigan volleyball deserves in this?
- 18:04Speaker 4: I think it brings season, By the way, it's not
- 18:06Speaker 4: even the real season. It's a totally look at me
- 18:10Speaker 4: to move Jesus.
- 18:11Speaker 2: It was the day the.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Day that Soorsby was like, Okay, I'm Done's the day
- 18:16Speaker 3: that Michigan Volleyball.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Kids, So you got to give some credit to them.
- 18:20Speaker 3: You got to give credit to Nebraska and Georgia who
- 18:22Speaker 3: have very loudly said we will remove Texas Tech from
- 18:26Speaker 3: every schedule in the future, which it's not like Nebraska
- 18:30Speaker 3: and Texas Tech or Georgia and Texa Tech are playing
- 18:33Speaker 3: very often. Part of it is like how much people
- 18:35Speaker 3: were pushing back, because in response to everyone.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Pushing back, Texas Tech said, what.
- 18:40Speaker 3: If we got four guys at a table together and
- 18:43Speaker 3: we did a podcast and we talked about how much.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Everybody loves Sexy Tech, and we.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Talked about how mental health is the most important thing
- 18:51Speaker 3: in the world to us since last Tuesday, But if
- 18:54Speaker 3: we did that, yes and all every Like my whole
- 18:58Speaker 3: takeaway from this is all all the money in the world,
- 19:01Speaker 3: that's what they've got. Didn't even think to spend a
- 19:03Speaker 3: dime on pr like, truly, not a penny on it.
- 19:09Speaker 4: Unbelievable.
- 19:09Speaker 5: I don't understand, uh lucy, just some of the mental
- 19:13Speaker 5: gymnastics that Texas Tech was trying to get away with
- 19:17Speaker 5: in supporting storesby like he would have to have been
- 19:20Speaker 5: the greatest quarterback of all time for me to step
- 19:24Speaker 5: all over my morals, like that as somebody at that university.
- 19:27Speaker 2: He he was fine, like it, I don't.
- 19:29Speaker 3: I don't understand why they pushed back on this so hard.
- 19:34Speaker 3: And like my whole thing is every text, every time
- 19:37Speaker 3: you see someone with a little cactus emoji in your.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Handle, you already know you're like, oh my god, I'm
- 19:40Speaker 2: I have to deal with this.
- 19:42Speaker 3: If this were Arch Manning, they would have burned Austin
- 19:45Speaker 3: to the ground.
- 19:46Speaker 2: They would have done that. But it wasn't.
- 19:48Speaker 3: It was Brendan Soorsby, and it just and like, here's
- 19:51Speaker 3: the thing. You look at Texas Tech schedule right now,
- 19:54Speaker 3: they still have a very like attainable path to the
- 19:57Speaker 3: Big Twelve championship, just with how bad that schedule is
- 20:00Speaker 3: and how strong the rest of that team is outside
- 20:03Speaker 3: of Will Hammond.
- 20:04Speaker 2: So like the whole thing, I just don't.
- 20:06Speaker 3: This was not what you would like get on the
- 20:09Speaker 3: cross Force, Like, I just don't get sacrificing yourself for this.
- 20:13Speaker 3: And I think the long term ramifications of this are
- 20:16Speaker 3: one Cody Campbell, the Texas Tech billionaire, has sort of
- 20:19Speaker 3: been the guy who's like saying, I'm saving college sports.
- 20:23Speaker 2: That's what I'm doing.
- 20:24Speaker 3: I'm pushing these conservative bills through to protect college sports.
- 20:27Speaker 2: That's what I care about. And you showed us as.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Clear as day that if it comes down to actually
- 20:33Speaker 3: protecting college sports or looking out for your team, which
- 20:36Speaker 3: one you're going to pick? And we clearly see that
- 20:38Speaker 3: conflict of interest now. So I think a lot of
- 20:41Speaker 3: the reform of college athletics is going to change because
- 20:43Speaker 3: he was leading the cause and now everyone can kind
- 20:45Speaker 3: of see him for what he's been the whole time.
- 20:48Speaker 6: Yes, do, and Cody Campbell said that Texas Tech will
- 20:50Speaker 6: not seek the return of any money paid to Brendan
- 20:53Speaker 6: Soarsby through his NIL agreements. It was reported up to
- 20:57Speaker 6: five million dollars a year that they paid him to
- 20:59Speaker 6: come to Texas Tech. Somehow, the biggest winner in all this,
- 21:02Speaker 6: I think is Brendan source being serious.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Yeah, it doesn't money, doesn't have to give it back,
- 21:06Speaker 1: and he's onto the NFL.
- 21:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Also look just to say it Texas Tech's but this
- 21:11Speaker 3: whole time being like if that boy does not get
- 21:13Speaker 3: to be out on the field with his teammates, he
- 21:16Speaker 3: will fall apart, his life will be terrible.
- 21:18Speaker 2: And then he was like, I'm not going to be
- 21:20Speaker 2: on the field with my.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Teammates but everything still guys don't even worry about it.
- 21:23Speaker 2: So which one was it?
- 21:25Speaker 1: Yes, there's no way he declares for the supplemental Draft
- 21:28Speaker 1: unless he knows they're going to open that thing up
- 21:30Speaker 1: because they don't have to the NFL. But unless he
- 21:33Speaker 1: knows the NFL, his agents know, Yes, the NFL, there's
- 21:36Speaker 1: interest there. Otherwise he'd still be at Texas Tech.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Is that fair?
- 21:40Speaker 2: I would say yes and no.
- 21:41Speaker 3: I think I truly think that if Ken Paxson had
- 21:44Speaker 3: kept his mouth, he'd be at Texas Tech right now.
- 21:47Speaker 3: I think that he saw, Okay, the Big twelve can
- 21:50Speaker 3: now punish us. So there was a world where the
- 21:54Speaker 3: Big twelve takes money away from them, doesn't let them
- 21:56Speaker 3: play in the conference championship. The Big twelve can suspend
- 21:58Speaker 3: them the same way that the Big Ten. To Jim Harball, like,
- 22:01Speaker 3: the conferences have the power to do that. So I
- 22:03Speaker 3: think he saw that. In the same day that this
- 22:06Speaker 3: all happened, the NCABLA filed an appeal to, you know,
- 22:10Speaker 3: go against the injunction that would have moved up the
- 22:12Speaker 3: timeline where the current timeline was that was February. So
- 22:15Speaker 3: there was a world that all of this happens, and
- 22:19Speaker 3: Brendan Sooresby still doesn't play with what happened with the
- 22:22Speaker 3: Big Twelve, with what happened with the NCBLA. So it
- 22:25Speaker 3: was kind of like a it was sort of the Hey,
- 22:28Speaker 3: I really don't think we're going to win this. It's
- 22:29Speaker 3: time to go. But yeah, it was Kin Paxson's fault.
- 22:32Speaker 3: That's that's the guy who's running for senate.
- 22:34Speaker 5: By the way, hey, listen, we play a game around
- 22:36Speaker 5: here that Taylor started called hand Up, hand Up.
- 22:39Speaker 4: I have no idea how to supplemental draft works in
- 22:41Speaker 4: the NFL. Can you please explain it to me?
- 22:43Speaker 3: Bee? I don't really get it that much either. So
- 22:46Speaker 3: it's basically like you don't have to do it every year.
- 22:49Speaker 3: It's for people who have lost their college eligibility or
- 22:52Speaker 3: were not eligible in college, and so you like trade
- 22:55Speaker 3: a draft pick for it.
- 22:56Speaker 1: I believe Well has seen them worthy and there has
- 22:59Speaker 1: to be players for there to be a supplemental draft,
- 23:02Speaker 1: otherwise they won't they won't open it up.
- 23:04Speaker 4: You know.
- 23:04Speaker 3: I assume what you said is rights do that. He
- 23:07Speaker 3: had to get the word that you will. I would think, yeah,
- 23:10Speaker 3: and like, there are plenty of teams that are like
- 23:12Speaker 3: the Browns.
- 23:13Speaker 2: They only have fifteen quarterbacks. They need another one.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Did it with the Shan Watson? They're gonna do?
- 23:20Speaker 3: Is he?
- 23:21Speaker 6: The basic premise of it is the supplemental Draft starts
- 23:23Speaker 6: and they're like, does anybody want to use a first
- 23:26Speaker 6: round pick on any of these guys in the supplemental draft?
- 23:29Speaker 6: If makes years pick, yeah, they lose next rack, they
- 23:33Speaker 6: lose next year's pick. It goes to the second round,
- 23:35Speaker 6: the third round. That's why people think Soorsby's probably gonna
- 23:37Speaker 6: be somewhere in the fourth round where somebody takes a
- 23:39Speaker 6: flower on him. One of my favorite things this morning,
- 23:43Speaker 6: everybody is just like, I'm gonna take everybody down with
- 23:46Speaker 6: me when it comes to this story. Brendan Sorosby's agent
- 23:49Speaker 6: this morning in an interview with one oh five to three,
- 23:52Speaker 6: the fans said Cincinnati knew about this for two years
- 23:55Speaker 6: and never said anything or didn't do anything about it.
- 23:57Speaker 6: That's the part of the story that gets lost.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Hm hmm, Well, I don't have to tell you, pal.
- 24:07Speaker 4: Not their problem anymore.
- 24:08Speaker 2: You want to vacate? Would eight win season?
- 24:10Speaker 4: Go for it?
- 24:12Speaker 2: You think Scott Sadderfield cares?
- 24:14Speaker 4: He doesn't.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Who is their coach is Scott Sadderfield.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Saturfield said that.
- 24:25Speaker 3: He's my favorite because he's actively tried to get fired
- 24:28Speaker 3: from every job he has, but he keeps like getting
- 24:30Speaker 3: stuck there. And he did like he will openly interview
- 24:33Speaker 3: for other jobs and be honest about it, and then
- 24:35Speaker 3: he'll still find a way to stick around. And he's like,
- 24:38Speaker 3: not a bad coach, but he's not a good enough
- 24:39Speaker 3: coach for this to like work.
- 24:41Speaker 4: Hang on a second, Taylor, what what is it?
- 24:43Speaker 5: Alleged that they knew that they knew that Sowersby was
- 24:46Speaker 5: potentially gambling even on Cincinnati.
- 24:48Speaker 4: While he was playing there, or just that he had
- 24:50Speaker 4: a gambling.
- 24:50Speaker 6: Problem, that this gambling story was eventually going to come out.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Okay, he did not bet on Cincinnati, like the That's.
- 25:00Speaker 5: What I was wondering, because I don't remember that. I
- 25:01Speaker 5: don't remember I was betting on.
- 25:02Speaker 3: Indiana what I saw, And I believe the deposition of
- 25:05Speaker 3: one of these things was that Cincinnati was like, hey,
- 25:08Speaker 3: we got like a pang that you were betting within
- 25:11Speaker 3: the facility or whatever, and Brendan Sworszy was like, no,
- 25:14Speaker 3: I wasn't, and they're like, all right, okay, So they
- 25:21Speaker 3: did know but that's what I saw, and that maybe
- 25:24Speaker 3: like a little like what.
- 25:25Speaker 4: A betting process. I mean, the whole thing was just
- 25:27Speaker 4: a disaster. Right. He didn't go with the Dave Chappelle.
- 25:30Speaker 4: I didn't know. I wasn't allowed to do that. I did.
- 25:36Speaker 2: What That doesn't sound like me.
- 25:41Speaker 4: That's not something I would do. That doesn't sound like me.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Case closed, waits just putting all of this aside for
- 25:50Speaker 1: a second.
- 25:50Speaker 4: We'll get you out of here in a second. It
- 25:54Speaker 4: is he good.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Not enough for this, Like he was raided by I'm
- 26:00Speaker 3: as the top rated portal quarterback. He wouldn't have been
- 26:02Speaker 3: my top rated I like Drew MESSI maker better. He
- 26:06Speaker 3: was not good enough for this, like he could have
- 26:08Speaker 3: with Texas Tech schedule, they could.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Have easily gotten it from ten wins up. I just like,
- 26:14Speaker 2: just not this good.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Like Taylor and I we went watched that Cincinnati Nebraska
- 26:19Speaker 3: game last year to open.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Up the season. It's terrible and he was awful. He
- 26:23Speaker 2: was he was terrible. I don't he's not good enough
- 26:27Speaker 2: for any of this. Like I don't think he's bad,
- 26:29Speaker 2: but not for any of this.
- 26:31Speaker 4: Stue.
- 26:31Speaker 6: He's kind of in the same mold of like the
- 26:34Speaker 6: the Drew Awlers, the cad Club mix Nos Myers, where
- 26:38Speaker 6: you just hear their name so much in college football
- 26:40Speaker 6: that you're like, this guy has to be good. And
- 26:42Speaker 6: then you watch their games and you're like, oh, wait, no,
- 26:44Speaker 6: this guy kind of stinks.
- 26:45Speaker 4: Okay, so he's going to be a Jet.
- 26:49Speaker 2: He's absolutely going to be a Jet.
- 26:50Speaker 5: Drew mess to Maker, by the way, it looks like
- 26:52Speaker 5: he can eat a sandwich, like he needs some food.
- 26:54Speaker 4: He's very thin.
- 26:55Speaker 2: He is really really good.
- 26:57Speaker 3: I'm a huge fan of his Oklahoma State. I'm locked
- 26:59Speaker 3: up on the season.
- 27:02Speaker 4: What a random thing to throw, isn't there?
- 27:04Speaker 5: Well, you know, she mentioned mess to Maker, and I
- 27:06Speaker 5: said to myself, let's see if I can spell that
- 27:08Speaker 5: last name, even though I've never heard of it before.
- 27:09Speaker 4: And that was way off.
- 27:11Speaker 5: And then the first picture shows up rail I can't
- 27:14Speaker 5: remember because now it's just the correct way.
- 27:17Speaker 4: I think I went with.
- 27:18Speaker 5: M E S T H A M A C H
- 27:21Speaker 5: E R a way too complicated.
- 27:24Speaker 1: You just throw the letters that you know that you
- 27:26Speaker 1: know were in the last name in no particular order
- 27:28Speaker 1: and google that.
- 27:29Speaker 4: I mean, it fixes it, for it does. Spelling is
- 27:31Speaker 4: the thing of the you meant so and so.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Right, that is the craziest way to spell that. It's
- 27:38Speaker 3: like spelled exactly how you think you would.
- 27:40Speaker 4: I know, once it popped up. Okay, I definitely.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Add in these complicated sounds.
- 27:46Speaker 3: You spelled it like a southern girl's name Ali, and
- 27:49Speaker 3: it's always spelled A L L E.
- 27:50Speaker 4: I g h.
- 27:52Speaker 2: And you're like, why would you spell it like that?
- 27:53Speaker 4: Like Ashley A s H L E I g H.
- 27:56Speaker 3: It's like, what would you I'll tell you every kid
- 27:58Speaker 3: I went to high school they had the e I
- 28:00Speaker 3: g h N And you're like, why would you be dangerous?
- 28:04Speaker 4: And the update on the concert tickets or no?
- 28:07Speaker 3: And my guy, I'm at the very end and he's
- 28:09Speaker 3: just walking. He's just walking and it doesn't.
- 28:12Speaker 4: Like tailor walking down to the village.
- 28:14Speaker 3: It's not moving in a direction. He's hit a police barricade.
- 28:20Speaker 1: This is for all of us, such a great line.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Buttering up to the cops. They wanted nothing to do
- 28:28Speaker 4: with you. Title.
- 28:30Speaker 3: There was literally like I didn't want anything out of
- 28:33Speaker 3: the interaction. It was just simply I was overwhelmed by
- 28:36Speaker 3: all the emotions that the power of friendship overtook me,
- 28:39Speaker 3: and I was like, dear, mister police officer, I hope
- 28:42Speaker 3: you get to celebrate, and he was like, okay.
- 28:46Speaker 1: She's a big time Knicks fan. You get a follower
- 28:49Speaker 1: at cfb Lucy. She launched her cfb Lucy brand, partnering
- 28:53Speaker 1: with Betches Media and home Field the Power.
- 28:55Speaker 4: I'm so excited for you. We'll talk to you again
- 28:57Speaker 4: next week. Hi, guys, you're explicit
