- 0:00Speaker 1: But I like the idea that we can change this
- 0:01Speaker 1: chime to anything. It's the dark, somebody's here, it's the cops.
- 0:08Speaker 1: That's my next step. Anyway, that'd be a great move.
- 0:11Speaker 2: From fabulous Las Vegas, No Mata. This is pod Therapy,
- 0:14Speaker 2: real people, real problems, and real therapists. You can submit
- 0:17Speaker 2: your questions anonymously at pod therapy dot net or email
- 0:20Speaker 2: us a pod therapy guys at gmail dot com. And
- 0:22Speaker 2: now broadcasting from the unnamed studio. That's Jim, that's Whitney.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I'm Nick, and it's time for some pot therapy.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Hello everybody, Welcome back to a fabulous day in April,
- 0:32Speaker 3: hopefully cooler than March was for us. We were under
- 0:35Speaker 3: that gigantic ass heat bubble.
- 0:36Speaker 4: It's about to cool off next week, in the next
- 0:38Speaker 4: couple of days.
- 0:39Speaker 3: It's windy as hell today and anytime it is like,
- 0:41Speaker 3: you know that you're gonna have like a pretty good
- 0:43Speaker 3: temperature shift.
- 0:44Speaker 1: So I'm waiting for that.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Everyone, Everybody shut up.
- 0:49Speaker 1: This is doctor Camp talking about I forgot weather.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Before Alex a whole thing.
- 1:03Speaker 1: That I can give weather.
- 1:04Speaker 4: Report where there's no weather besides wind and heat.
- 1:10Speaker 5: He does talk about the weather a lot enough that
- 1:13Speaker 5: somebody randomly made a jingle.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Pretty amazing.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Look it's gonna be pretty shitty.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:19Speaker 3: April is always like really windy, and I'm not looking
- 1:22Speaker 3: forward to it, but it is what it is. So
- 1:25Speaker 3: as people are hearing this, I think that Easter will
- 1:27Speaker 3: have already happened. So we're recording this one earlier. How
- 1:30Speaker 3: do y'all celebrate Easter? That the day of our Savior's
- 1:34Speaker 3: risen every Sunday?
- 1:37Speaker 4: Pinky draw.
- 1:44Speaker 1: All right, so nobody's nobody's gonna enjoy.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Some ham usually either like my father in law's birthday,
- 1:50Speaker 4: so I'll call him.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Okay, actually birthday on Easter, I know.
- 1:53Speaker 4: Let's see.
- 1:54Speaker 5: I mean, i'd someone brought me ham and deviled eggs,
- 1:57Speaker 5: but but I'm probably not going to seek it out.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Hey, these guys just let it pass now.
- 2:02Speaker 5: Well, my neighbor, one of my neighbors that I know
- 2:04Speaker 5: they brought, they brought over an.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Easter basket the other day.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Oh, so they did drop off an Easter basket on
- 2:10Speaker 5: our on our front door because they were leaving town
- 2:13Speaker 5: and so they left us an Easter basket.
- 2:15Speaker 1: It was very nice.
- 2:16Speaker 3: On again, it's nice to drop it off when you
- 2:18Speaker 3: knock on the door and insist that they answered the
- 2:20Speaker 3: door to get the treats.
- 2:21Speaker 1: It's weird.
- 2:22Speaker 5: This is a neighbor. We dropped for each other. We
- 2:26Speaker 5: have our thing we have, we have a drop off thing,
- 2:28Speaker 5: like we just drop it off in front.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Of each other's door to drop off.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I hate, I hate to bring it back. I know
- 2:34Speaker 2: we're in the main show again.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I know it's fine, but like, if I'm dropping
- 2:38Speaker 3: something off, I'm gonna say hi, like, hey, how you doing.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I really wish you wouldn't just want to drop it off.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Oh no, Like if I walk up in there and
- 2:47Speaker 1: I see them, I'm gonna acknowledge.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I'll tell you what. I have a conversation my neighbor
- 2:50Speaker 2: across the street. Now this is to the north.
- 2:53Speaker 6: Oh good, that something as I was leaving here saying.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Something when when I was leaving to come here tonight.
- 3:08Speaker 2: I have not met this guy yet. But he was
- 3:11Speaker 2: in his garage garage and like he had a desk
- 3:14Speaker 2: but he was sitting is weird. He was sitting right
- 3:16Speaker 2: at the edge of the garage but with the door open,
- 3:20Speaker 2: and he was just sitting there playing an acoustic guitar.
- 3:22Speaker 1: That's that's a man who wants my friend.
- 3:24Speaker 2: And I was like, I was like, I'm like looking
- 3:27Speaker 2: at my watch, White dudes, I'm looking at my watch.
- 3:30Speaker 2: And I was like, ship, do I have enough time?
- 3:33Speaker 2: Can I just go over there with.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Him sitting in the garage just rumming around, just on
- 3:38Speaker 3: the edge of the desk, just.
- 3:43Speaker 2: So there.
- 3:43Speaker 5: There are two weeks now because we're not recording over
- 3:46Speaker 5: Eastern because he has risen and doesn't want us to
- 3:49Speaker 5: record a podcast, and uh so we're not going to
- 3:52Speaker 5: record that day. So I expected two weeks that we're
- 3:55Speaker 5: gonna hear about how Nick now has a regular jam
- 3:58Speaker 5: with this guy.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Said they are going to to.
- 4:00Speaker 5: By the time two weeks has past, this is gonna
- 4:03Speaker 5: be Nick's new best friend.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I'm excited for next name.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Yes, I hope to know everybody on that street. What
- 4:11Speaker 2: I'm talking about. My plan for a Sunday evening is
- 4:16Speaker 2: to just walk down the street and wave. It'll take
- 4:21Speaker 2: me a couple of hours, but I'm gonna get I'm
- 4:23Speaker 2: gonna go all the way down, all the way back.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I just have a whole bunch of conversations, just random
- 4:29Speaker 2: conversations with people. Jesus Christ everything about this is awful.
- 4:34Speaker 1: We do business walking distance to hear.
- 4:38Speaker 2: You don't walk to hear. I should every I know
- 4:42Speaker 2: everybody who lives between me and Jack.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Uh huh, absolutely not.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Patreon dot com, slash therapy, you can support our show.
- 4:53Speaker 3: You can dial in and get it a day earlier.
- 4:55Speaker 3: You can jump into our discord, and you can check
- 4:58Speaker 3: out all the extra fun stuff that we don't jump
- 5:00Speaker 3: in there. We're of course going to release our annual
- 5:03Speaker 3: praise and worship a segment for the Easter holiday.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Your custom I.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Want in my mouth.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Keep forgetting you have Jesus, Jesus.
- 5:17Speaker 4: Okay, don't forget. Wow you inside of me, my God.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Jesus, reach around.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Sorry, I'm sorry everybody, Oh Jeseuz.
- 5:34Speaker 1: It's honestly my fault. I released this into the world.
- 5:38Speaker 5: Now I'm wondering if inside of me is where we
- 5:41Speaker 5: got the words sod of me from, because they.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Caught us sound alike, especially when you sing home.
- 5:47Speaker 3: I'm gonna read questions now, Happy Easter, everybody, and Jesus.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Sorry for my friends. I'm sorry that.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I'm around them. Will repent.
- 6:01Speaker 3: H We've got some great questions for today's show and
- 6:03Speaker 3: we're kicking off the order.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Speaking of tongues. Now, are just moving along?
- 6:10Speaker 5: Yeah, just going through snake handled guy's coming.
- 6:13Speaker 1: It's coming. Don't you worry.
- 6:16Speaker 2: I'll get to it all right.
- 6:18Speaker 3: We got award winning Impostor Syndrome High Pot Therapy team.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I'm writing in because I've hit a milestone in adulting
- 6:26Speaker 3: that feels entirely like a simulation. I recently received the
- 6:30Speaker 3: Volunteer of the Year award from my alma mater, Francis
- 6:35Speaker 3: Marion University. A shout out to the fight in France. Wise,
- 6:39Speaker 3: it was a whole production. They sent out a video
- 6:42Speaker 3: crew to make a film about me.
- 6:44Speaker 5: I really hope they're football team. Instead of like logos
- 6:46Speaker 5: or whatever on the helmet, it's just like a beret, yes,
- 6:51Speaker 5: the helmet and then they all just have cigarettes.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Mustaches, mustaches on the face, masks with the red bandana.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Fighting anyway.
- 7:04Speaker 1: By the way, writer, I'm positive your college didn't have
- 7:07Speaker 1: a football team.
- 7:07Speaker 5: Fine, I understand that completely as well solid debate, but
- 7:10Speaker 5: I really like it if they did.
- 7:11Speaker 1: That would be wonderful.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I'm on their web page athletics.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Come on, come on, fighting friends.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Woh, it's gonna be patriots. Oh God, damn, that's less exciting.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh they got a golf team, well, actually checked.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I was fine with that, Rich. It was a whole production.
- 7:31Speaker 3: They sent out a video crew to make a film
- 7:34Speaker 3: about me, gave me a physically heavy award, and had
- 7:37Speaker 3: me walk across a stage in front of a crowd.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Here's the thing.
- 7:41Speaker 3: I'm a photographer and videographer by trade. For years, I've
- 7:45Speaker 3: operated both a photography business and a community page called
- 7:49Speaker 3: for Called for promoting local news events and organizations. Okay,
- 7:54Speaker 3: My volunteering usually consists of documenting and promoting nonprofits, as
- 7:59Speaker 3: well as a constant steam of stream of news and
- 8:03Speaker 3: updates about the area. In my head, I'm not getting
- 8:07Speaker 3: my hands dirty like the people on the front lines.
- 8:09Speaker 3: I'm just the guy with the gear. Because of that,
- 8:12Speaker 3: I feel like a total imposter. The praise I'm getting
- 8:16Speaker 3: in the wild from people who saw the news or
- 8:18Speaker 3: the ceremony feels unwanted, or at least unearned. It's got
- 8:24Speaker 3: so bad during the ceremony that I actually carried my
- 8:26Speaker 3: camera up on stage with me. I kept it hidden
- 8:30Speaker 3: behind my back and then tucked it behind the podium
- 8:32Speaker 3: while I was speaking, just to feel normal. Without that
- 8:36Speaker 3: piece of glass and metal between me and the world,
- 8:39Speaker 3: I felt completely exposed. It was my emotional support camera.
- 8:43Speaker 3: My questions for the doctors and life coach. How do
- 8:47Speaker 3: you deal with praise for a version of yourself you
- 8:50Speaker 3: don't fully recognize or value yet? Is it healthy to
- 8:55Speaker 3: use a professional tool as a psychological security blanket? Or
- 8:59Speaker 3: am I just a tripod away from a total breakdown?
- 9:02Speaker 3: How do I stop comparing my clean volunteering behind the
- 9:05Speaker 3: lens to the hands on volunteering of others. Love the show,
- 9:09Speaker 3: keep up the good work, and good luck with your
- 9:11Speaker 3: Vegas summer.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Signed Phillip the sc scoop Weather, Fuck the weather.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Yeah, this is a really good question. It's interesting because
- 9:22Speaker 3: I think this. To me, one of the first things
- 9:24Speaker 3: I thought was, like, I think a lot of times
- 9:26Speaker 3: the people who get like the reward, the people get recognized,
- 9:30Speaker 3: They're never the ones doing the work. Man. Oh no,
- 9:32Speaker 3: I never think they're the ones that are like actually
- 9:35Speaker 3: on the ground.
- 9:35Speaker 5: Well, I mean the oscars just passed. The oscars were
- 9:38Speaker 5: a couple weeks ago.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Oh, this is a good analogy.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Go on, the producer gets handed the oscar. Yeah, the
- 9:45Speaker 5: Super Bowl, the owner gets handed the Lombardo Trophy. Yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 5: you didn't do any thing for our UK listeners. You
- 9:53Speaker 5: know that when the when Manchester wins the cup, right, Like,
- 9:57Speaker 5: they're not handed to the players. They get pass around
- 10:00Speaker 5: the players, but everybody gets to touch it.
- 10:02Speaker 1: It ain't going home with them.
- 10:04Speaker 3: I feel like that's usually like the spokesman, the face
- 10:06Speaker 3: of organizations, the person who gets famous from it all,
- 10:09Speaker 3: is usually not really associated with the ground level. Like
- 10:12Speaker 3: Mother Teresa ever really do right? She was like the
- 10:14Speaker 3: face of the whole.
- 10:15Speaker 1: She killed a lot of people through lack of action.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, see, I have a book you should read.
- 10:22Speaker 1: If you have any further questions, feel free to ask them.
- 10:27Speaker 4: I kind of thought you were going to go even
- 10:29Speaker 4: a different direction, Jacob, And like, there are tons of
- 10:32Speaker 4: people that are on the ground working on movies or
- 10:35Speaker 4: things like that and they don't get any recognition and
- 10:39Speaker 4: you literally couldn't do it without them those bodies.
- 10:42Speaker 5: But also I don't want them to get recognition as
- 10:44Speaker 5: far as I'm concerned, they're already getting too much.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, I agree with you though. Yeah, that they
- 10:49Speaker 1: get food and water is a little bit. Yeah, I
- 10:52Speaker 1: don't know.
- 10:52Speaker 5: Everyone want them to have access to full catering.
- 10:55Speaker 3: It's interesting because like a lot of times like the storytellers,
- 10:59Speaker 3: Like this this writer saying, look, I'm the photographer, every videographer,
- 11:02Speaker 3: but I actually think the storyteller is such an important
- 11:04Speaker 3: part of a lot of this. Now, like all the
- 11:06Speaker 3: documentaries that have come out that told us about like
- 11:08Speaker 3: really important world events and like did these deep dives
- 11:11Speaker 3: these expose's into like a lot of crazy stuff that
- 11:14Speaker 3: like revealed that I mean not just the Epstein stuff,
- 11:16Speaker 3: but like you know, uh Diddy and all these other things.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Like the documentarians, the people that are telling the stories,
- 11:22Speaker 3: they have such a vital role to play.
- 11:24Speaker 1: And so like.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Ironically I get where the writer's coming from. It's like, hey,
- 11:28Speaker 3: I'm not the one like doing dirty work, but ironically
- 11:31Speaker 3: I think you're the one amplifying magnifying that work.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Yeah, so it can.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Get funded, Yeah, so it can get recognized. Like that's
- 11:37Speaker 3: the best possible thing that a nonprofit can possibly have
- 11:41Speaker 3: is somebody like you who's telling that story. I do
- 11:43Speaker 3: think you deserve to be recognized. Yeah, yeah, like without you,
- 11:46Speaker 3: there is no nonprofits canna be successful.
- 11:48Speaker 1: And also right, it's a recognition. It's a nice trophy.
- 11:52Speaker 5: Also, it is always awkward when you get handed a
- 11:54Speaker 5: like a very heavy trophe, like a trophy.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Or something like that. You're like, now I've got an
- 11:59Speaker 1: account for this thing. Happened a lot in your life.
- 12:03Speaker 1: But you just.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Like yeah, yeah, people just walk up to you and like,
- 12:09Speaker 3: you know, thank you.
- 12:10Speaker 1: People literally give me their PhD s.
- 12:13Speaker 2: All right. It is funny because I saw somebody, uh,
- 12:17Speaker 2: several years ago, I don't remember who it was, it
- 12:21Speaker 2: doesn't matter. You guys don't know him won the British
- 12:24Speaker 2: Open and like and so like you always think like, okay, cool,
- 12:28Speaker 2: this dude won the British Open and then and then
- 12:31Speaker 2: that's it, like you don't think about it. But then
- 12:33Speaker 2: I saw a picture later on of him getting on
- 12:36Speaker 2: a plane and like it's his carry on, like he
- 12:39Speaker 2: just has to stow it. So it's like it's just
- 12:43Speaker 2: like this is the Claret jug like it's it is
- 12:46Speaker 2: a very important trophy and he's just putting it in
- 12:50Speaker 2: the overhead because there's there's nothing else then that they
- 12:57Speaker 2: can do with it. It's just that's what happened. So
- 13:00Speaker 2: we don't really think about like.
- 13:01Speaker 5: If he's not flying private or driving somewhere like it's
- 13:05Speaker 5: going on a place.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Think they have to carry the big checks too, like
- 13:08Speaker 3: the giant Like, yes, they change the.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Game the mobile deposit.
- 13:18Speaker 1: There is no limit on how big a legal check
- 13:21Speaker 1: can be.
- 13:21Speaker 5: Oh okay, okay, like those those giant checks can be
- 13:27Speaker 5: legal checks.
- 13:28Speaker 3: I think that's almost better than getting the money is
- 13:31Speaker 3: it's forcing a bank to catch the check.
- 13:33Speaker 5: There are there are a few stories out there people
- 13:36Speaker 5: being forced to cash giant checks at bank because like
- 13:39Speaker 5: they weren't given a smaller check, or because somebody was
- 13:41Speaker 5: fucking with them.
- 13:44Speaker 4: They just made it.
- 13:46Speaker 2: I have seen that prank that people will do with
- 13:48Speaker 2: their friends when they travel, and like they'll take their
- 13:51Speaker 2: passport but make a giant like photo copy of it
- 13:55Speaker 2: and they have to like unfold it. Okay, it's like
- 13:59Speaker 2: speed by eight feet path.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Yeah, now you just get shot. Yeah, I would.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Just murder you slow to reveal that you're a citizen.
- 14:13Speaker 3: You will already be dead, and honestly that doesn't matter.
- 14:17Speaker 3: So like, I think that definitely. I understand where the
- 14:19Speaker 3: writers coming from though, Like when you're the one whose
- 14:21Speaker 3: story tells about the heroes and then you're the one
- 14:24Speaker 3: getting acknowledged for it, I get it. Like especially as
- 14:27Speaker 3: as like a camera person, I understand that that job
- 14:30Speaker 3: feels very behind the scenes, and I can appreciate for
- 14:33Speaker 3: them like that, then I guess you'd relate to this,
- 14:35Speaker 3: like there's there's people on the stage, and like my
- 14:38Speaker 3: role is to make them look great, like I'm trying
- 14:41Speaker 3: to make their show happen. To be acknowledged. Will always
- 14:44Speaker 3: feel a little odd because it's like, well, part of
- 14:46Speaker 3: my role is to be invisible. Like if I'm visible,
- 14:48Speaker 3: something's going wrong. I mean I phrase it a little
- 14:51Speaker 3: differently than that. It's not their show. It's it's our show.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Like we do. We do a show and that's it.
- 14:57Speaker 5: Yeah, And like yeah, if you're good at your your job,
- 15:00Speaker 5: mister photographer, mister sc scoop. Yeah, Like, and people want
- 15:05Speaker 5: to recognize you for it, let him recognize you. It's
- 15:09Speaker 5: not going to go on forever. The easiest way to
- 15:11Speaker 5: stop it, honestly is just to be gracious. And it
- 15:14Speaker 5: would be horrible or hot.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Like, know, we gave that guy the Alumni of the Year.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Now he's on the six o'clock news for like you know,
- 15:23Speaker 3: regret it. Yeah, yeah, punting babies off the bridge, like that's.
- 15:26Speaker 4: Not bad don't you feel like, you know.
- 15:28Speaker 5: Shave your head live on stage to reveal a swastika
- 15:30Speaker 5: tattoo on your on.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Your bald head. You never have to work Norman style.
- 15:37Speaker 5: That guy's name, I can't think of his name, Norton,
- 15:41Speaker 5: that's not Norman.
- 15:45Speaker 4: I also feel like universities are always looking for ways
- 15:48Speaker 4: to prop up alumni or things like that because they
- 15:52Speaker 4: want there. They have a vested interest in that certainly
- 15:56Speaker 4: a lot of ways. And I'm not trying to downplay
- 15:58Speaker 4: what you're doing, because I absolutely agree with everything that
- 16:00Speaker 4: was just shared. There is a super important role you
- 16:03Speaker 4: play there by lifting up these nonprofits, and they wouldn't
- 16:06Speaker 4: be as successful in some way, in some rights if
- 16:09Speaker 4: you weren't able to share that. I mean there's nonprofits
- 16:12Speaker 4: I hear about all the time. I'm like, ah, I
- 16:14Speaker 4: didn't know that existed. I want to go give time
- 16:16Speaker 4: or money to that, like, but if I just don't
- 16:18Speaker 4: know about it, then I don't know about it, Like
- 16:20Speaker 4: you can't you can't give that.
- 16:21Speaker 5: So also the piggyback out stuff that Jim said. Artistically,
- 16:25Speaker 5: I mean, my minor in college was in photography. I
- 16:29Speaker 5: have a little bit of knowledge, but not skill about photography.
- 16:34Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 16:34Speaker 5: I'm not good at it. I can take a picture fine,
- 16:37Speaker 5: but I'm not. I'm not a photographer, okay, but I
- 16:40Speaker 5: have a little bit of knowledge about photography. And it's
- 16:44Speaker 5: all about point of view. And so I mean, you
- 16:46Speaker 5: are expressing your point of view. You are you are
- 16:48Speaker 5: sharing what you're sharing with people via your point of view.
- 16:52Speaker 5: And the fact that your point of view is uh
- 16:56Speaker 5: embracing enough for everyone to be able to take it in,
- 16:59Speaker 5: for so many peop to be able to take it
- 17:00Speaker 5: in and appreciate it, that that is something to be recognized,
- 17:04Speaker 5: and that's not that's something not everyone is able to do.
- 17:06Speaker 1: I like that, you know, it's it's not just pointing
- 17:08Speaker 1: a camera, it's no one where to point the camera.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Where the writer says, how do you deal with praise
- 17:12Speaker 3: for a version of yourself? You don't fully recognize their
- 17:14Speaker 3: value yet. I think this is a pretty rare scenario
- 17:17Speaker 3: that a person kind of gets the reward before they
- 17:19Speaker 3: feel like they've truly risen to that level. But it
- 17:22Speaker 3: reminds me when Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize
- 17:25Speaker 3: and he was like, why are you giving this me?
- 17:27Speaker 3: And it was like they explained like it's aspirational. We're
- 17:30Speaker 3: hoping that by doing this, we're like pushing you into
- 17:33Speaker 3: the direction of becoming somebody who would earn.
- 17:36Speaker 1: This this award.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Hmm is that what?
- 17:39Speaker 3: I just want to know what's on Jacob's mind, because
- 17:41Speaker 3: that's just.
- 17:42Speaker 5: I have that you you bring up like the weirdest
- 17:45Speaker 5: Nobel Peace Prize that was ever awarded.
- 17:49Speaker 3: And I think it's an interesting like conundrum that they're.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Trying to make the tie as all I'm doing.
- 17:54Speaker 3: I think Barack Obama also felt like I didn't earn this,
- 17:57Speaker 3: like Okay, why is it being given to me? And
- 18:00Speaker 3: I think that there's a little bit of that like
- 18:02Speaker 3: gap in your mind of like, uh, should I even
- 18:05Speaker 3: accept it?
- 18:06Speaker 1: Okay?
- 18:06Speaker 5: And I see what you're saying now, I see what
- 18:07Speaker 5: you're saying now, yeah, and I agree with you that
- 18:10Speaker 5: the se scoop would be a better president than the
- 18:13Speaker 5: one we have now, Okay, all right, So that's when
- 18:15Speaker 5: you're saying, Okay, I agree.
- 18:17Speaker 3: It's it's weird because I didn't mention him.
- 18:19Speaker 1: But you know, I see where your head's at. What
- 18:21Speaker 1: do you think about the.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Emotional support object, like just like having a doty that
- 18:27Speaker 3: you just kind of keep around. What is your emotional support?
- 18:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you just got to have something that kind
- 18:34Speaker 2: of connects you and brings I like the idea because
- 18:37Speaker 2: it's like, yeah, it kind of helps. It's a grounding tool.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Yeah right, And it's like and also I think it's
- 18:43Speaker 2: it's incredibly relevant to the award that you just received.
- 18:47Speaker 5: Oh yeah, sure, you know, and so it's kind of
- 18:49Speaker 5: oh yeah, I would have walked out and put it
- 18:50Speaker 5: like on the fucking lecture and been like, here's my camera, bitches.
- 18:54Speaker 2: What got me here?
- 18:57Speaker 1: Bring up a stage with me?
- 18:58Speaker 2: You know, Like there's people I know, like baseball players
- 19:01Speaker 2: and stuff still have like their first mit okay, because
- 19:06Speaker 2: it's like it kind of keeps them connected and grounded
- 19:09Speaker 2: to like, hey, I'm playing a kid's game, Like I'm
- 19:12Speaker 2: lucky enough to do this as a profession, but this
- 19:15Speaker 2: is the thing that I wanted to do since I
- 19:16Speaker 2: was seven years old. Having this gloved and my locker
- 19:20Speaker 2: kind of reminds me of that.
- 19:21Speaker 3: So I actually have something like this, like an object
- 19:24Speaker 3: that I keep around as like.
- 19:25Speaker 2: A shock strap.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Yeah it's a Little League player, because I want to remember.
- 19:31Speaker 3: It's just a it's just a child it's a little
- 19:34Speaker 3: Cuban boy.
- 19:36Speaker 2: He's just really good.
- 19:37Speaker 1: He's so good a baseball. You just see this kid.
- 19:39Speaker 3: It he takes cuts. Man, It's just it's all in
- 19:42Speaker 3: the shoulder swing. The whole bit is weirdly. Every night
- 19:46Speaker 3: he just cries all night long, does not sleep. It
- 19:50Speaker 3: just silently weeps. He doesn't make a word of English.
- 19:53Speaker 3: It's very confused. Ice gave me on a discount. It
- 19:57Speaker 3: just hand this kid over to me. I was like,
- 19:58Speaker 3: I can't believe that.
- 19:59Speaker 1: It's so great.
- 20:00Speaker 3: They're like you should see them take cuts again. The
- 20:02Speaker 3: swing is so good. It's like full body swing.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Uh no. It was a coin from the Cuban Boy.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Uh no.
- 20:10Speaker 3: So like I had this coin that had the Great
- 20:13Speaker 3: Seal of Nevada on it is like imprinted, I guess
- 20:16Speaker 3: or stamped in coins like one of those and edited
- 20:19Speaker 3: engraving on the back, and like for years cockballs, yeah,
- 20:22Speaker 3: cock and balls. And I would just carry that in
- 20:24Speaker 3: my pocket for years, and it just was like this
- 20:26Speaker 3: little item that I'd have to reach in just hold
- 20:28Speaker 3: it or just like fiddle with it and just constantly
- 20:31Speaker 3: it would be like I don't know, like kind of
- 20:32Speaker 3: like the emotional support, like object.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I've definitely and.
- 20:35Speaker 2: People saw you do this but had no idea it
- 20:37Speaker 2: was a coin.
- 20:38Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, yeah, I just hard my front pocket for you.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I usually do it when I'm nervous, people dead eyed, and.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Just I wanted people to know about the coin.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I touch it for yourself.
- 20:56Speaker 3: They wouldn't believe me that it was real. But it's like,
- 20:58Speaker 3: get in there, find out for you. Nobody else did
- 21:01Speaker 3: an emotional support object. No, no, I'm the only one.
- 21:03Speaker 3: I'm weird, Okay, I don't think.
- 21:06Speaker 4: I'm trying to think if I ever.
- 21:08Speaker 3: I feel like for women, their purse is their emotional
- 21:10Speaker 3: support object, because it's just this like goodie bag of fun.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Who knows what's because.
- 21:16Speaker 4: They don't give us fucking pockets anything.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Hundreds of tampons in there, you know. Just ready, Chapstick,
- 21:23Speaker 3: I had Do you have a purse right now?
- 21:25Speaker 2: Yeah?

- 21:27Speaker 4: Yeah, let's do this.
- 21:28Speaker 1: There we go.
- 21:31Speaker 4: I needed to bring some extra stuff, so this is fun.

- 21:40Speaker 3: to Jacob tampon.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Uh, that's in there is.
- 21:43Speaker 2: That the one I got you?
- 21:44Speaker 1: The flask one? It should disappointing. All right, I got you?
- 21:49Speaker 1: I follow up question.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Things random with some form of government.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I d oh, you been.
- 21:57Speaker 4: It's outside my person?
- 22:01Speaker 2: All right?
- 22:02Speaker 3: Give me brush, brush or combe? Yes, all right, it's
- 22:09Speaker 3: a showdown now.

- 22:19Speaker 5: women at all.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Let's well, I just know if I had a purse
- 22:22Speaker 2: I have.
- 22:23Speaker 1: All right, I'm gonna do rubber band.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Touch up, make up kit.
- 22:27Speaker 4: A kick?
- 22:28Speaker 3: Well, okay, makeup? Can I just can I get away
- 22:30Speaker 3: with that?
- 22:31Speaker 2: Like lipstick? Probably?
- 22:32Speaker 3: All right, my double you'll take that lipsticks?
- 22:35Speaker 2: Fine?
- 22:35Speaker 5: Uh?
- 22:36Speaker 4: You have should be showing these sorry.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it's almost like we have a camera.
- 22:40Speaker 4: Here's here's the chaps.
- 22:42Speaker 1: There we go.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Is there more makeup?
- 22:44Speaker 4: Is there?
- 22:45Speaker 1: Is there a compact? That's what I was?
- 22:47Speaker 5: Is there a mirror? That's the thing I was there
- 22:49Speaker 5: a mirrored compact. There's definitely a mirror.
- 22:51Speaker 4: I have one of my car.
- 22:53Speaker 3: All right, So is the spelling be rules? Want to win? Okay,

- 23:04Speaker 2: Oh man, I've got nothing. I mean a handgun, but.
- 23:09Speaker 5: I just pull out Oh, mace, mace.
- 23:16Speaker 3: You heard it here, gentlemen, all right, God.
- 23:24Speaker 4: Is there anything on the floor. I can't see.
- 23:26Speaker 1: The dog will find it.
- 23:27Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a deal.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Anyway. Right, here's the thing writer I would say to
- 23:32Speaker 2: you know, kind of with the imposter syndrome thing like,
- 23:34Speaker 2: this is something for me, like when people give me compliments,
- 23:37Speaker 2: it makes me very very.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Uncomfortable with really handsome today Bud weird anyway, coconut, I
- 23:46Speaker 3: think supple nineteen year old right, look to me like
- 23:50Speaker 3: a hot supple nineteen year old.
- 23:52Speaker 2: The president of Francis Marion University, you know, doctor l
- 23:56Speaker 2: Fred Carter, who, of course with the enrollment of four thousand,
- 24:01Speaker 2: two hundred and sixty one students and you know so much.
- 24:03Speaker 2: I think one of the things that they would all
- 24:06Speaker 2: say is like this is the patriots. No, no, the
- 24:10Speaker 2: patriots Patty's is they like to be this. It's an
- 24:13Speaker 2: opportunity for you to just sit in that discomfort. Like
- 24:16Speaker 2: That's what I do would say, is I don't I
- 24:18Speaker 2: don't like if if somebody says something I feel uncomfortable.
- 24:21Speaker 2: I'm doing my best because my old thing is to
- 24:24Speaker 2: just try to make a stupid joke or get out
- 24:27Speaker 2: of it or just be like, oh, it's no big
- 24:29Speaker 2: deal whatever. But now I'm trying really hard to just
- 24:31Speaker 2: be like, oh, thank you, I appreciate that. Yeah, and
- 24:34Speaker 2: just and sit in the discomfort and just be okay
- 24:37Speaker 2: with that.
- 24:37Speaker 4: Does it still feel uncomfortable every time?
- 24:40Speaker 2: Not as much anymore?
- 24:44Speaker 1: Advice?
- 24:44Speaker 2: Well, now I feel like people don't give me enough compliments.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Yeah, so I feel like I could work on that
- 24:50Speaker 1: compliment Nick in the discord.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Everybody, Yeah, hurry yeah, Sea Scoop, I'm gonna get saying.
- 24:57Speaker 3: That's a lot. He's always fishing for the compliment.
- 25:04Speaker 2: And around every week I come in here with tighter
- 25:07Speaker 2: and dangling, hanging.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Brain going on, Writer, I'm gonna give you the same
- 25:13Speaker 3: advice that Tom Hanks gave to Matt Damon in Saving

- 27:02Speaker 1: He's bold.
- 27:04Speaker 5: I think they knew about Pluto even uh, although I
- 27:10Speaker 5: guess Pluto.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Is not a planet. Way to go, Neil Degrass Tyson
- 27:16Speaker 1: take him in there, so oh my god?
- 27:19Speaker 2: So oh wait?
- 27:20Speaker 5: Or was it would have been Mercury? Is mercury so
- 27:24Speaker 5: close to the sun that they wouldn't have seen it?
- 27:26Speaker 1: Yeah? That could be like this. I don't hate that,
- 27:30Speaker 1: although you know, wait, because you can see mercury at
- 27:32Speaker 1: night sometimes you can.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Also, they have like an obvious name. I feel like
- 27:35Speaker 3: they got to it early, you know, because like Venus,
- 27:38Speaker 3: like they got on that one early.
- 27:40Speaker 1: They're all Roman gods.
- 27:43Speaker 5: Well yeah, but something than others, even obviously.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Jacob, some of them are better than sure.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I mean that's a fact.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Why don't you try using your brain.
- 27:57Speaker 5: I'm gonna say.
- 28:01Speaker 2: I'm gonna say Uranus, Yeah you are, and you are correct.
- 28:06Speaker 1: I think it's gotta Then they have had a weird orbit.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 28:10Speaker 1: I think Uranus has a really weird orbit. Mine it's
- 28:12Speaker 1: a little funky, Okay, No, mine's fine.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Spotted by William Herschel in seventeen eighty one. He initially
- 28:19Speaker 2: thought it was a comet. Wow.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Wow, there you go, because it's got a weird, funky orbit. Yeah, you.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Did some options.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Very interesting too. What it's on its side?
- 28:32Speaker 3: Your your uranus is how I like to pronounce it.
- 28:34Speaker 3: It's tipped over, so it actually the other way. Yeah,
- 28:38Speaker 3: he's actually has a ring like Saturn, but it's.
- 28:42Speaker 1: On the top.
- 28:43Speaker 2: So all right, yeah, okay, cool, all right, Whitney. Yeah,
- 28:47Speaker 2: what was the first video game ever sold commercially?
- 28:50Speaker 1: Oh my gosh? Also your bomb? You got him Urinus? Yeah?
- 28:57Speaker 1: Your asshole?
- 28:58Speaker 4: Actually, I mean it was the first game ever sold commercially.
- 29:04Speaker 1: You said video game? Right?
- 29:05Speaker 4: Oh did you say video game?
- 29:08Speaker 1: Video game?

- 29:18Speaker 2: Uh, Pong, Space Invaders, computer Space or pac Man?
- 29:25Speaker 4: Oh Jesus sold commercially? Oh my gosh, because I would
- 29:30Speaker 4: have said Pong.
- 29:31Speaker 2: You know what computer space is?
- 29:33Speaker 4: You do? I've never heard of it.
- 29:35Speaker 2: I do not.
- 29:35Speaker 5: I don't know that that's real exactly. I'm questioning whether
- 29:40Speaker 5: that computer space is a real option.
- 29:42Speaker 4: I guess pac man.
- 29:45Speaker 2: No, I'm sorry.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Can I get the rebound? I want? Give me Pong Pong?
- 29:51Speaker 4: Yes, because that was my other guest. No.
- 29:58Speaker 5: Wow, so one of the the the space one computer space,
- 30:03Speaker 5: computer space.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Oh boy, computer space is sounding better.
- 30:06Speaker 1: I guess, guest, computer space.
- 30:09Speaker 2: It is computers nineteen seventy one. Wow. Pong came out
- 30:14Speaker 2: a year later and was more successful, which is why
- 30:17Speaker 2: most people mix them up.
- 30:19Speaker 1: I definitely would have guessed Pong.
- 30:20Speaker 4: I would have guessed too, but it seemed like you
- 30:22Speaker 4: wouldn't sell that.
- 30:23Speaker 1: You could have guessed Pong.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I would have guessed that if I went.
- 30:27Speaker 4: In free game, That's what I would have picked it, Pong.
- 30:29Speaker 5: Wast free because it was a they sold a whole
- 30:31Speaker 5: It was a whole setup. It had like a little
- 30:33Speaker 5: little knobs and everything you hook up at the TV.
- 30:35Speaker 5: It was it was it was a home gaming system,
- 30:37Speaker 5: but it only played Pong. Oh yeah, thing, No, you

- 30:48Speaker 4: Oh.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I don't know if that was the original version of Pong.
- 30:51Speaker 2: I don't.
- 30:52Speaker 5: I don't know if there was like a stand up
- 30:53Speaker 5: version or what first. But I know that my some
- 30:57Speaker 5: relative of mine had one. My grandma had one.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Grandma, yeah, grandma Pa.
- 31:02Speaker 4: I just saw aget. Yeah, my grandpa had an atario
- 31:07Speaker 4: at his house. But it was never played. It was
- 31:09Speaker 4: like being stored there. I never got to see it
- 31:11Speaker 4: in action.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Okay, I don't think i've ever.
- 31:14Speaker 2: There wasn't much action.
- 31:15Speaker 1: My first was played a few times. It was ever.
- 31:18Speaker 2: We did, uh Nintendo, we remember, I remember Nintendo was
- 31:23Speaker 2: a big step that we really wanted, the one that
- 31:26Speaker 2: came with the track and field, with the passage.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Oh yeah, my neighborhood. Yeah, but we didn't get so
- 31:31Speaker 1: cool like the we the first version of Yeah, did
- 31:34Speaker 1: you have duck Hunt?
- 31:34Speaker 2: We did have duck Hunt.
- 31:36Speaker 4: My friend had that. We had to go to her
- 31:37Speaker 4: house play.
- 31:38Speaker 2: That's a good game, all right, Jim, what was the
- 31:41Speaker 2: name of the first mammal successfully cloned from an adult cell?
- 31:46Speaker 4: D I think I know one.
- 31:47Speaker 1: I think that's it right, Dolly.
- 31:49Speaker 2: It is Donald.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Yeah, eight hundred points for Jim. Dolly.
- 31:53Speaker 2: The Sheep born in nineteen ninety six. I remember that.
- 31:57Speaker 2: I remember that because if I go to my high
- 31:59Speaker 2: school yearbook, that was like in the back they have
- 32:02Speaker 2: like a year. Yeah, that was a big deal.
- 32:07Speaker 4: Fuck you you birthday.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Elementary school when Dolly was cloned.
- 32:15Speaker 1: All right, so I'm in the lead with a lot
- 32:18Speaker 1: of points.
- 32:18Speaker 2: I'm stolen the lead.
- 32:19Speaker 4: Definitely stole some from us. So I think he's one.
- 32:23Speaker 5: I think Jim and I are tied because we both
- 32:25Speaker 5: went off the hip on our questions. Oh yeah, that's right.
- 32:28Speaker 1: I am the lead.
- 32:30Speaker 3: Yeah, but I cloned my points, so.
- 32:35Speaker 1: That's right. Thanks for coming along with me on that.
- 32:39Speaker 1: I appreciate that we got.
- 32:43Speaker 2: And she's just supporting everybody.
- 32:46Speaker 4: Yeah, boom boom, anyone can win me over here.
- 32:51Speaker 1: We're back to weather, all right.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Our next question staying informed versus melting down from world
- 32:59Speaker 3: news high from Minnesota. That's relevant because we've been in
- 33:03Speaker 3: the news a lot lately and it's been.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Pretty exhausted.
- 33:09Speaker 3: With ice, occupation, federal BS cutting funding, lots of mutual aid.
- 33:14Speaker 3: So here's my current issue. I want to stay informed
- 33:17Speaker 3: about local, national, and world news. But the more I
- 33:20Speaker 3: learn about how things are going, the more I fall
- 33:23Speaker 3: into despair, a bit of panic, and general feeling of
- 33:26Speaker 3: heaviness with worry. But I have friends who purposefully do
- 33:30Speaker 3: not stay informed on anything and remain blissfully unaware on
- 33:34Speaker 3: things until they complain about gas prices or whatever, which
- 33:37Speaker 3: is also kind of exhausting to engage with because how
- 33:40Speaker 3: can they simply ignore everything all the time. My partner
- 33:44Speaker 3: really wants me to unplug, but I'm worried that will
- 33:47Speaker 3: make me feel like an ostrich with my head in
- 33:49Speaker 3: the sand, ignoring reality. Spoiler alert, Ostriches don't actually do that,
- 33:55Speaker 3: but the metaphor is good trivia.
- 33:57Speaker 1: Nope, I got that one right.
- 33:59Speaker 2: I don't know, but I'm a fact check that.
- 34:02Speaker 1: So here's my question.
- 34:03Speaker 3: How can I balance unplugging for my own sanity but
- 34:07Speaker 3: also staying a little informed so I don't fall into ignorance?
- 34:11Speaker 3: Signed s no pronouns given.
- 34:15Speaker 2: This is This is my thing too, because I've realized
- 34:19Speaker 2: that I need to I need to check out. I
- 34:21Speaker 2: need some distance. But I have that exact same anxiety,
- 34:26Speaker 2: which is like I can't get so far away that
- 34:28Speaker 2: I become uninformed of what's going on. I have to
- 34:32Speaker 2: know what's happening because I feel like it's I feel
- 34:35Speaker 2: like you're I get why people will completely check out,
- 34:39Speaker 2: and I don't want to say that that's wrong to do.
- 34:41Speaker 2: I think sometimes you just need to do that.
- 34:43Speaker 5: I do agree that it can be exhausting for other
- 34:45Speaker 5: people when people are completely checked out, like as it's saying,
- 34:49Speaker 5: I get why that could be exhausting.
- 34:53Speaker 2: But I do for for most people, I do feel
- 34:56Speaker 2: like it is kind of your responsibility if you're going
- 34:59Speaker 2: to live in society, to be aware of what society
- 35:02Speaker 2: is doing, like what's happening, like to kind of, you know,
- 35:06Speaker 2: be informed at least a little bit of you know,
- 35:09Speaker 2: because there's somebody out there that's like, what do you mean?
- 35:13Speaker 2: What is ice? What are you talking about? Happening in Minnesota?
- 35:16Speaker 2: There are people out there that have just connected so
- 35:19Speaker 2: much that they have no idea what's happening. I think
- 35:21Speaker 2: that is probably socially irresponsib.
- 35:24Speaker 5: Are the people that throw rocks at helicopters because they
- 35:26Speaker 5: think they're big birds.
- 35:30Speaker 2: They don't want you to come too close to their islands.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Uncontacted tribes. Yeah, don't take their picture. They're afraid that steals.
- 35:38Speaker 4: Their souls, you know what. They seem very happy Okay.
- 35:46Speaker 2: What I'm learning is that we need our own island
- 35:51Speaker 2: to say that we need a.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Discount. Just slightly used.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Just now that I'm hearing myself say this, iturbished.
- 36:04Speaker 1: If you're interested in project. The last Senate did not
- 36:11Speaker 1: get his deposit back.
- 36:13Speaker 3: Also notoriously did not kill Himselah right about that.
- 36:17Speaker 4: That didn't happen.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Somewhere, will, I wouldn't sit there.
- 36:22Speaker 5: Yeah, if you sit there, you're gonna have to be deposed.
- 36:27Speaker 1: You know. But it sucks because like the point.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Of the news is always to say scary things, right,
- 36:33Speaker 3: Like it's very rare that you turn on the news
- 36:35Speaker 3: and they're like, hey, great news, great new cure for
- 36:38Speaker 3: this thing. Like one of the things that use AI
- 36:39Speaker 3: for is every week I will ask it to round
- 36:42Speaker 3: up ten good news stories for me and just tell
- 36:44Speaker 3: me about nice things that are happening in healthcare or
- 36:46Speaker 3: science or something that's like the world, yeah, because like
- 36:49Speaker 3: I want to know what's going on. But like anything
- 36:52Speaker 3: you turn on, man, it's just always the worst possible
- 36:55Speaker 3: things all the time, and like there's such a flood
- 36:57Speaker 3: of all that negativity, and it like I don't know
- 37:00Speaker 3: how to do anything with it, you know, like it's
- 37:02Speaker 3: one thing. If you were like, like, that's kind of
- 37:04Speaker 3: why I like the weather honestly, because like I can
- 37:07Speaker 3: do something with that information that is relevant to my
- 37:09Speaker 3: life right now. But if you're like gonna tell me
- 37:12Speaker 3: about this, you know, well, the gas thing and Iran
- 37:14Speaker 3: is important, but what can I do about it?
- 37:15Speaker 1: You know, I'm not gonna be able to stop this.
- 37:17Speaker 2: And this is why I always turned to ground news.
- 37:20Speaker 2: See every side of every story. Join our community of smart,
- 37:23Speaker 2: well informed news.
- 37:24Speaker 3: At least get paid by these guys if you're going
- 37:27Speaker 3: to keep plugging them. This is like the third commercial run.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Particularly it doesn't good yeah, good, good good.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know. I mean, nobody gets a free ride.
- 37:40Speaker 1: I just feel like it's pointless.
- 37:42Speaker 3: They just pointless. But I actually do avoid the news,
- 37:45Speaker 3: so I'm kind of on that team at this point,
- 37:47Speaker 3: Like I would say, how much So the only news
- 37:50Speaker 3: that I'll watch I started watching financial news, and the
- 37:53Speaker 3: watch news explain this to me.
- 37:56Speaker 1: I'm fascinated already.
- 37:58Speaker 4: On YouTube.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Fine, yeah, so I watch Bloomberg. So I watch it
- 38:03Speaker 3: live on YouTube.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Okay in the morning.
- 38:06Speaker 3: It's just they're like financial stuff, so like, okay, the
- 38:09Speaker 3: stock market's gonna open in thirty minutes. Here's what's going on,
- 38:11Speaker 3: and so like, I'll but I like that because they
- 38:14Speaker 3: tend to not embellish things because that has real consequences
- 38:18Speaker 3: and finance, and that's not like rewarded by their viewers.
- 38:21Speaker 1: So they'll get on and go.
- 38:22Speaker 3: All right, Donald Trump just offered a peace treaty to
- 38:25Speaker 3: the Iranians. They said they're not going to accept it.
- 38:27Speaker 3: He says, ohthough they totally want him and they just
- 38:29Speaker 3: don't realize it yet, you know, or whatever, and like
- 38:31Speaker 3: they're just telling the deal and then they just walk
- 38:33Speaker 3: away from that. And so I just feel like I'm
- 38:34Speaker 3: breathed without any of like the embellishment or like squeezing
- 38:37Speaker 3: every possible scary drop out of a thing. They just
- 38:40Speaker 3: kind of quickly recap everything.
- 38:41Speaker 2: I try to catch PBS News Hour, Okay on the
- 38:45Speaker 2: news as well.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Yes, wow, I would have lost this met twice so far.
- 38:50Speaker 1: I'm I'm fascinated to see where we're going in.
- 38:52Speaker 2: A second, because PBS News Hour, like that's the whole thing.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Like my my whole take on the news is it
- 38:58Speaker 2: should be boring. Yeah, it should be boring, yes, because
- 39:03Speaker 2: if it's not, then it's not news then it's entertainment, yes, right,
- 39:06Speaker 2: and so PBS news it's just dry. It's kind of
- 39:09Speaker 2: like PBS and that NPR, you know, and it should
- 39:14Speaker 2: be really.
- 39:15Speaker 1: That's the news.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Yeah, here's what happened. This is what this person said.
- 39:21Speaker 2: This is what we've found in our reporting.
- 39:23Speaker 5: I'm always really over compress all of our microphones and
- 39:27Speaker 5: make this sound like an NPR show.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Could we do it as like once?
- 39:31Speaker 5: Not like heavy NPR sound that they know there was
- 39:34Speaker 5: MP there's very much NPR sound, like heavy thick. That's
- 39:39Speaker 5: it really is like rich everything is here.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Oh that's right.
- 39:42Speaker 7: It's always like the closest possible ladies and gentlemen. This
- 39:46Speaker 7: is kept alive by support from listeners like your yes, yes,
- 39:51Speaker 7: and you will support us. We will send you a
- 39:53Speaker 7: tote bag. That's a tote bag, yep.
- 39:56Speaker 2: But it's that that's the whole sml skit with the
- 39:58Speaker 2: schweaty balls right.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's the NPR sound. Oh I didn't even know.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Like these they're very tasty the voice, yeah right, okay,
- 40:10Speaker 2: these are much saltier than I thought they would be.
- 40:13Speaker 5: Like everything is super isolated and super heavy and very
- 40:16Speaker 5: compressed so you don't.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Watch the news at all. No, how do you get
- 40:20Speaker 1: your name? Why do you watch the news?
- 40:22Speaker 2: What's the well?
- 40:25Speaker 1: I'm just I'm truly shocked that you guys do.
- 40:29Speaker 4: The closest I get is maybe to what Jim was saying.
- 40:32Speaker 4: On YouTube, they'll be I'll be on YouTube doing other stuff,
- 40:35Speaker 4: for looking at other things. But yeah, there's porn on YouTube.
- 40:40Speaker 4: It's not good, but they'll have people.
- 40:46Speaker 1: So, by the way, YouTube, what are you doing? Yeah, Like,
- 40:50Speaker 1: at this point, who are you protecting?
- 40:53Speaker 5: I know who is on the Internet that has not
- 40:55Speaker 5: seen pornography, and the reason they have not seen pornography
- 41:00Speaker 5: it's because.
- 41:00Speaker 1: Of you two, the high gates of Google. Yeah, I
- 41:03Speaker 1: just I don't think you're helping anybody.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Guys.
- 41:05Speaker 1: I think you're just throwing money away, honestly, leaving it
- 41:07Speaker 1: on the table.
- 41:08Speaker 4: Sometimes there's these little blurbs that will pop up. They'll
- 41:12Speaker 4: be like two minutes, five minutes, maybe ten minutes, and
- 41:14Speaker 4: it'll have the title and it'll say ABC or wherever
- 41:18Speaker 4: it's from. But sometimes a little headline will catch them like,
- 41:21Speaker 4: oh I do want to sit through like two minutes
- 41:24Speaker 4: to five minutes to see what's going on? And so
- 41:27Speaker 4: I guess technically I will watch it then, but it
- 41:29Speaker 4: feels a little bit more old school because it's concise
- 41:32Speaker 4: and it's I know how long this is going to
- 41:34Speaker 4: take me. It's not just yeah an hour long.
- 41:36Speaker 5: Is it a snippet out of a larger news broadcast?
- 41:40Speaker 5: Were they just talking about that or is it something
- 41:42Speaker 5: that was made dedicated.
- 41:43Speaker 1: To that subject.
- 41:44Speaker 4: It's that subject, but I do feel it maybe pulled
- 41:46Speaker 4: from like a broadcast, you know, when they start, like
- 41:48Speaker 4: today they're talking about and it starts from the beginning
- 41:52Speaker 4: of this is what we're talking about right now. Yeah,
- 41:55Speaker 4: so I get the complete well for their version of
- 41:57Speaker 4: the complete story. So I do kind of like that.
- 42:00Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, I have been wondering, like what happened
- 42:02Speaker 4: with this thing? And so the headline will catch me
- 42:03Speaker 4: and then I'll watch it. But other than that, am
- 42:06Speaker 4: I like, I'll go look for stuff sometimes if I'm like, oh,
- 42:10Speaker 4: I know something that has happening, let me go see
- 42:13Speaker 4: what's going on. But even that's hard because Instagram reels.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Do you just like flick through and like.
- 42:18Speaker 4: Then you'll you know who I like on Instagram reels,
- 42:21Speaker 4: as Sharon says, So I think it's her name. She's great.
- 42:24Speaker 4: I'm gonna plug her great, but yeah.
- 42:26Speaker 3: She'll shed the news. She'll talk about You're welcome, Sharon.
- 42:35Speaker 4: Show exactly up, she covers topics. It is skewed from
- 42:44Speaker 4: her perspective.
- 42:45Speaker 5: But I I really I never mind news being skewed
- 42:49Speaker 5: from the perspective I like the old newspaper is like
- 42:53Speaker 5: you'd have newspapers called like the Cleveland Democrats.
- 42:55Speaker 4: Sure, yeah, that's true.
- 42:58Speaker 5: What their perspective was. This is our perspective we were
- 43:00Speaker 5: reporting the news. Here is the perspective we were We
- 43:03Speaker 5: are reporting the news from. I appreciate the funk out
- 43:06Speaker 5: of that.
- 43:06Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I love it.
- 43:10Speaker 1: This is who I am.
- 43:11Speaker 5: I'm coming at you from this perspective here here. It
- 43:14Speaker 5: is like if Fox News and ms NBC and all
- 43:17Speaker 5: of them would just do that.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Go like, oh great, fine newspapers and so like the
- 43:23Speaker 3: alled look you gave us for watching news when you
- 43:27Speaker 3: literally subscribe to print journalism.
- 43:29Speaker 5: Oh hold on, yeah, I get one newspaper a week
- 43:33Speaker 5: on Sunday and.
- 43:35Speaker 2: It's usually still in the driveway on Wednesday.
- 43:38Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 43:40Speaker 5: Yes, it gets picked up and thrown directly into the
- 43:44Speaker 5: garbage can. During the summertime, during the winter time. I
- 43:48Speaker 5: often use it as firestarter, and it's an excellent fire starter.
- 43:52Speaker 5: But what it gives me is it gives me, uh,
- 43:55Speaker 5: the unlimited online access to the Las Vegas Review Journal,
- 44:00Speaker 5: which is our local newspaper, and I have a subscription
- 44:03Speaker 5: to that for the online access. So if I want
- 44:06Speaker 5: to click through articles or whatever I can, I can
- 44:09Speaker 5: do that, and I get a couple of push notific
- 44:11Speaker 5: notifications from them, and say with the New York Times,
- 44:15Speaker 5: I get The New York Times on digital, but I
- 44:19Speaker 5: honestly do not go on and read it very often.
- 44:23Speaker 5: I have it on there mainly for the push notifications,
- 44:27Speaker 5: and it sends me headlines and I see the headlines.
- 44:31Speaker 5: I'll read the headlines and I clear the headlines off
- 44:34Speaker 5: my phone. And that's kind of the extent of the
- 44:38Speaker 5: news that I get for most of the stuff. And
- 44:41Speaker 5: it works because most of the stuff is so repetitive.
- 44:44Speaker 5: So if I see something that I truly don't know about,
- 44:46Speaker 5: I'll click through it. If I'm curious about it, obviously,
- 44:49Speaker 5: like I might click through it orf I have time,
- 44:51Speaker 5: I might click through it and see what's going on
- 44:53Speaker 5: with it, But man I have really is like that.
- 45:00Speaker 5: That's about the most that I'm doing. I'm pretty close
- 45:02Speaker 5: to uh being being unplugged, though not completely, but choice
- 45:09Speaker 5: I kind of it was at least conscious. I definitely
- 45:13Speaker 5: pulled back consciously and I try to still know what's
- 45:16Speaker 5: going on.
- 45:18Speaker 3: Are you happier for it?
- 45:19Speaker 2: Certainly?
- 45:19Speaker 1: Okay, I am too. And I'm also like you talk
- 45:22Speaker 1: about scrolling instat and all this stuff.
- 45:24Speaker 3: No, yeah, I can get a lot of news from TikTok,
- 45:26Speaker 3: though not I don't.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Have TikTok anymore. I got rid of TikTok completely, like.
- 45:33Speaker 3: You're better than me, Okay, I don't think I'm one
- 45:36Speaker 3: of the kids. This isn't the reason Jim's.
- 45:41Speaker 4: Honestly, I never downloaded TikTok because I know that will
- 45:44Speaker 4: be unhealthy as shift for me. I will just get.
- 45:48Speaker 5: And it's not It's not something that has ever been
- 45:51Speaker 5: marketed to me, uh for several reasons, and it's not
- 45:56Speaker 5: something that was made for me to enjoy.
- 45:58Speaker 1: So like great, fine, and the same with.
- 46:00Speaker 5: Kind of all of it. And I don't scroll any
- 46:02Speaker 5: of it. I don't do the doom scrolling stuff. Also,
- 46:05Speaker 5: though my social media, as I've said many times, is
- 46:08Speaker 5: honestly delightful because it's all scoops and therapods, and then
- 46:14Speaker 5: like other podcast listeners and like people that I choose
- 46:18Speaker 5: to interact with, and so like there are nice conversations
- 46:21Speaker 5: that happens.
- 46:22Speaker 2: There's all kinds of just like yeah great.
- 46:23Speaker 4: Yeah that's like all you share I see is yeah,
- 46:26Speaker 4: like ice cream, social stuff. Oh all that.
- 46:28Speaker 5: I'm like, Yeah, I don't do personal shit on my
- 46:30Speaker 5: odd Facebook Instagram.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Not a goddamn thing. Yeah I will.
- 46:36Speaker 5: I use I have Facebook because I have Facebook Messenger, Yeah,
- 46:39Speaker 5: to keep up with people that I only keep up
- 46:42Speaker 5: with on Facebook.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that is. That is the reason that I have
- 46:44Speaker 1: Facebook is for Facebook Messenger.
- 46:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:47Speaker 3: I really believe in this curated reality thing. I think,
- 46:50Speaker 3: especially in the world that we live in. I think
- 46:52Speaker 3: we all thought that we were going to get the
- 46:53Speaker 3: subjective reality with the Internet and stuff, and then it
- 46:56Speaker 3: all turned out to be these tiny microcosms of everybody
- 46:58Speaker 3: picking their tribe and an inter putting the world in
- 47:00Speaker 3: their own myopic ways. And I think that whenever you,
- 47:03Speaker 3: just like everybody else is picking their own realities, I
- 47:05Speaker 3: may as well pick mine.
- 47:06Speaker 5: You know what now that now that you think about it,
- 47:08Speaker 5: and for the writer s right, that's just the writer.
- 47:11Speaker 5: Uh for s that that really might kind of be
- 47:14Speaker 5: the answer is the answer might just be you have
- 47:18Speaker 5: to I do.
- 47:19Speaker 1: I think you have to stay informed a little bit.
- 47:21Speaker 1: I think I'm with you on that. I like I do.
- 47:24Speaker 5: I would feel bad if I got a whole lot
- 47:27Speaker 5: less informed than I am now, Like I want to
- 47:29Speaker 5: know what's going on, but I don't need to dive
- 47:31Speaker 5: into it. All you have to do is tell me
- 47:34Speaker 5: that Trump said something stupid and racist or some some
- 47:36Speaker 5: kind of nonsense, and I.
- 47:37Speaker 3: Go, yeah, great, I almost But I have a weekly recap.
- 47:41Speaker 4: Like going on.
- 47:42Speaker 5: I do watch Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. I
- 47:45Speaker 5: like that Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Yeah that's
- 47:48Speaker 5: he's mostly like a single deep dive, but they go
- 47:51Speaker 5: through a couple of things. But yeah, a weekly update,
- 47:54Speaker 5: that's good, especially for politics.
- 47:57Speaker 1: All the day to day.
- 47:58Speaker 3: Anybody exactly likes all so much.
- 48:01Speaker 1: I love Penn's thing.
- 48:02Speaker 5: Pendelotte has publicly said, I believe the Laurence o'donald and
- 48:07Speaker 5: it is I'm not going.
- 48:09Speaker 1: To pay attention to anything that Donald Trump says.
- 48:12Speaker 5: Does I'm paraphrasing, of course, Uh, but uh, I'm gonna
- 48:15Speaker 5: tell you and I've told a few other people if
- 48:17Speaker 5: Donald Trump says or does something that you feel would
- 48:21Speaker 5: change or should change the way I feel.
- 48:24Speaker 1: About Donald Trump, Okay, let me know. Okay, otherwise you
- 48:29Speaker 1: you know, I don't like him.
- 48:30Speaker 5: Yeah, so if you if you find out something about
- 48:32Speaker 5: him that you believe, like, oh shit, this would make it,
- 48:35Speaker 5: this would change your opinion on Donald Trump completely, tell
- 48:39Speaker 5: me that.
- 48:39Speaker 3: Okay, I got it.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Oh he's he's doing terrible things. Yeah, great, I got it.
- 48:46Speaker 1: I understand.
- 48:47Speaker 5: I'm not saying don't do anything about it, but like,
- 48:50Speaker 5: you don't have to tell me about it all the time,
- 48:51Speaker 5: and I know what's happening. You'll have to tell me
- 48:53Speaker 5: how bad, I says, I They're bad, They're terrible.
- 48:55Speaker 3: You got to come up for air every once in
- 48:57Speaker 3: a while and know what's going on, and then I
- 48:58Speaker 3: think you can kind of go back into your happy.
- 49:00Speaker 5: Yes, And that's the thing is, like, so you can
- 49:02Speaker 5: stay informed, and then I think it is just fine
- 49:06Speaker 5: to have a bit of a happy place to retreat
- 49:09Speaker 5: back into.
- 49:10Speaker 4: Yeah, Like sometimes I miss the idea of yeah, you
- 49:13Speaker 4: got a weekly newspaper or a morning newspaper with smaller news,
- 49:17Speaker 4: and you just kind of had your your thirty minutes
- 49:19Speaker 4: in the morning, I mean, and then you were done throughout.
- 49:21Speaker 2: It was even uh for you kids, it was even different. Yeah,
- 49:27Speaker 2: what do they do back there?
- 49:30Speaker 1: There we go? News got.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Before twenty four hour news, Like I don't know if
- 49:39Speaker 2: you too even remember that, you were like before CNN
- 49:43Speaker 2: not really yeah, yeah, but it was just but it
- 49:45Speaker 2: really was like it was thirty minutes you got morning
- 49:48Speaker 2: and thirty minutes at night.
- 49:48Speaker 1: And that was the amount of news that was on team.
- 49:50Speaker 4: Right.
- 49:50Speaker 2: You get your your your local news or the I
- 49:54Speaker 2: think the evening news came on.
- 49:55Speaker 1: First thirty, yeah, like Tom broke off and then I
- 50:00Speaker 1: remember that.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and then you would get your local news right
- 50:02Speaker 2: after that, okay, and then there would usually be like
- 50:04Speaker 2: a ten o'clock, right, I remember, And that was it.
- 50:07Speaker 2: And that like unless you were getting the newspaper and
- 50:10Speaker 2: you were reading the newspaper a lotise, that was your
- 50:13Speaker 2: daily dose and it felt like the right amount.
- 50:17Speaker 1: If you wanted more than that, you you had to
- 50:18Speaker 1: seek it out, Yes, you had to really want to
- 50:20Speaker 1: know about it.
- 50:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Well, I'll bet you there was news radio and I'll
- 50:24Speaker 3: bet you they would Yeah, there was that.
- 50:26Speaker 5: There was a real four well, but even then, like
- 50:31Speaker 5: it was more break in stuff, like if something big
- 50:34Speaker 5: happened that hit the ap wire, it was like breaking
- 50:37Speaker 5: news then exactly, yeah, then they could break in, they
- 50:41Speaker 5: could break into that.
- 50:42Speaker 1: I think not by then it was already twenty four hours.
- 50:44Speaker 1: It was. It was such a big thing.
- 50:47Speaker 2: The first thing that really started twenty four hour news
- 50:50Speaker 2: network was the Iraq War, right, sure, because it was
- 50:54Speaker 2: because CNN started and everyone in Will Blitzer, Yeah, because
- 50:57Speaker 2: everybody was like, why in the hell do you need
- 50:59Speaker 2: twenty four hour news? And then the Iraq War broke out,
- 51:02Speaker 2: and it's like and CNN was the only network with
- 51:05Speaker 2: a live feed to Bagdad and so yeah, so the
- 51:09Speaker 2: I remember that the people on the ground, yeah, because
- 51:11Speaker 2: they were they were reporting from the hotel and people
- 51:15Speaker 2: in Baghdad and so but a lot of all the
- 51:17Speaker 2: news networks did. Yeah, but it didn't matter if.
- 51:20Speaker 5: You went to ABS complimenting them by saying that just
- 51:22Speaker 5: because like news doesn't do things like this anymore now.
- 51:25Speaker 2: But like if you turn to the night that the
- 51:27Speaker 2: war broke out, if you had turned to ABC, NBC, whatever,
- 51:30Speaker 2: they were all patching into CNN. Everybody was listening to
- 51:34Speaker 2: CNN because CNN was the only ones that were they
- 51:37Speaker 2: were the only ones live on the ground. Yeah, it was.
- 51:40Speaker 5: And it really got to the point where people did
- 51:42Speaker 5: not care what anybody.
- 51:43Speaker 1: But wolf Blitzer said about what was going on in
- 51:46Speaker 1: the Iraq War.
- 51:47Speaker 5: This desert storm that we're that we're talking about now, Yeah,
- 51:50Speaker 5: to like early nineties.
- 51:52Speaker 3: We've we go to the Middle East a lot. It
- 51:54Speaker 3: seems like this just keeps happening.
- 51:56Speaker 1: It's like there's something under the ground there that we like.
- 51:58Speaker 3: It seems like we just keep probably coincidence, Yeah, who
- 52:01Speaker 3: knows why. But anyway, writer, I don't think any of
- 52:03Speaker 3: us are judging you. If you choose to you know,
- 52:05Speaker 3: ostrich and put your head into the ground, I think
- 52:08Speaker 3: that that is necessary for our sanity. I don't think
- 52:10Speaker 3: that we owe that to the world. I think that
- 52:13Speaker 3: there's probably an amount of information that you should know
- 52:16Speaker 3: in general, But also this information expires so quickly, you know,
- 52:20Speaker 3: like week after week, month after month, it doesn't even
- 52:22Speaker 3: matter it's something you could have done differently.
- 52:24Speaker 1: Yeah, So I feel like besides.
- 52:26Speaker 3: Like picture, Yeah, if there's action things that you can do, great,
- 52:30Speaker 3: But otherwise I don't think that you really owe that
- 52:32Speaker 3: to anybody. So you have my blessing writer to just
- 52:35Speaker 3: live your own damn life and be happy.
- 52:38Speaker 4: Actually, think the pen thing you shared is really sitting
- 52:42Speaker 4: with me the most because it's like.
- 52:45Speaker 1: I don't need to hear about it.
- 52:47Speaker 4: There's so much bullshit that Trump has said, We've forgotten
- 52:51Speaker 4: about half of it because there's always something new, and
- 52:53Speaker 4: it's like, but it's the same feeling. And if you
- 52:55Speaker 4: were to just have that thrown in your face, and
- 52:57Speaker 4: that's one small example what's going on in news right now,
- 52:59Speaker 4: but just to pile on to all the really serious stuff,
- 53:02Speaker 4: it's like, yeah, I don't need to know about that.
- 53:04Speaker 4: I don't need to know about the crazy shit he says,
- 53:06Speaker 4: because that's just gonna stress me out and make me
- 53:08Speaker 4: feel bad for no reason.
- 53:10Speaker 1: That reason. He said something stupid too.
- 53:13Speaker 5: And I know that we're we're recording this in the future,
- 53:15Speaker 5: so probably horrible things have happened.
- 53:17Speaker 2: By now, So preface this with hey, guys, do you remember, Yeah, yeah,
- 53:21Speaker 2: this was.
- 53:21Speaker 1: A week ago. We recorded this on March thirtieth. Yeah,
- 53:24Speaker 1: there you go.
- 53:24Speaker 5: So like when he says stupid things about Iran, when
- 53:28Speaker 5: he says when he says like, oh, you know, they're
- 53:30Speaker 5: begging me for a ceasefire and all that, and like
- 53:33Speaker 5: I see those clips and everything, and a ran just says, no,
- 53:37Speaker 5: we're not. Yeah, never have why would wear and like
- 53:41Speaker 5: all I do and people go, oh, that's terrible, and
- 53:43Speaker 5: it is.
- 53:44Speaker 1: They're right.
- 53:45Speaker 5: All everybody who was saying, you know, this is this
- 53:47Speaker 5: is a horrible, terrible thing. They're all correct, right, they
- 53:51Speaker 5: are all just factually correct. I don't have to hear
- 53:55Speaker 5: it every day. Yeah, I just don't like he said
- 53:58Speaker 5: something stupid, got it? I believe interesting anyhow, I believe you.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I trust you. I believe you, and we can
- 54:04Speaker 1: stop there.
- 54:04Speaker 3: It's consequential for sure. I mean, horrific things are matters.
- 54:08Speaker 3: But also I can't just stare into the horror all
- 54:10Speaker 3: the time. Capital m matters. But yeah, unless there's something
- 54:14Speaker 3: I can do about it. Yeah, by all means, I
- 54:16Speaker 3: have to just be trying to do something good in
- 54:18Speaker 3: the world.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Yeah, we're at and like.
- 54:20Speaker 3: Friends, family, neighbors delivering cookies to your weird ass neighbors.
- 54:24Speaker 4: That's why they might creepilyare you?
- 54:27Speaker 5: Like if your neighbor's tree is like growing little saplings
- 54:30Speaker 5: around it that are going to be harder to pull
- 54:32Speaker 5: up later, yo, go maybe come down.
- 54:35Speaker 1: This episode was just about that, wasn't it.
- 54:37Speaker 3: It was just about taking care of the people around you.
- 54:39Speaker 3: That's making a difference in the world, winning a big
- 54:42Speaker 3: ass award that you don't deserve, you know, and honestly.
- 54:44Speaker 5: Oh, you could buy a boat and use it as
- 54:46Speaker 5: an anchor. Okay, you already have the anchor. Now you
- 54:50Speaker 5: could get a boat.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Oh that would be awesome.
- 54:53Speaker 4: We need the boat.
- 54:54Speaker 1: You're part way to a boat. Yeah, it's silly to
- 54:55Speaker 1: not get a boat.
- 54:56Speaker 3: You're losing money.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Don't be done and not get a boat. Come on.
- 55:02Speaker 1: The only news, the only.
- 55:04Speaker 2: News you really need to know right now is that
- 55:08Speaker 2: number thirteen the Patriots. Francis Marion University toppled the Trojans
- 55:13Speaker 2: to earn a series win just the other day. Congratulations
- 55:18Speaker 2: to Francis Marion University baseball team. Okay, they won seven
- 55:23Speaker 2: to three. They kicked out.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Wow who they play?
- 55:26Speaker 2: They played mount Olive?
- 55:28Speaker 1: Oh? Mount Olive?
- 55:29Speaker 2: Is that they're I mean they're they're fifteen and sixteen
- 55:32Speaker 2: on the year experience twenty six and seven.
- 55:38Speaker 1: Where do you think this college is? What state? Oh
- 55:41Speaker 1: it's it's in Maryland? Oh yeah, is it no, but man,
- 55:50Speaker 1: that was so confident. I was just like, oh, there
- 55:52Speaker 1: it is.
- 55:52Speaker 2: Then, okay. The writer kind of gave it away. What
- 55:56Speaker 2: is his name, France.
- 55:58Speaker 1: Sc scoop almost thought that was the first letter.
- 56:02Speaker 2: Yeah, that was the first letter. Yeah, that's just yeah,
- 56:07Speaker 2: Well they didn't both go to Francis Marion University. How
- 56:09Speaker 2: weird would that have been? He'll be ridiculous. I agree
- 56:13Speaker 2: that would have been strange.
- 56:14Speaker 4: I just gave it away from.
- 56:16Speaker 2: From now on, only alumni from Francis Marion University are
- 56:21Speaker 2: allowed to write, and we're exclusively with the number one
- 56:26Speaker 2: podcast Francis Universe.
- 56:28Speaker 5: We superde where is Francis Marrion University South Carolina?
- 56:35Speaker 1: Because we tried to show we're really.
- 56:40Speaker 4: Good at that.
- 56:42Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 56:44Speaker 4: North Carolina.
- 56:48Speaker 3: I'm going to move this along here anyway. Writer, Good
- 56:51Speaker 3: luck with that. Thank you for writing in.
- 56:53Speaker 1: I'm just hoping that all these universities have us down
- 56:55Speaker 1: to speak on their on their.
- 56:56Speaker 5: Campuses, graduation, and then Jim can see how I dress
- 57:01Speaker 5: when I speak in front of college. Yeah throwback, by
- 57:05Speaker 5: the way Jim is dressed today coming straight from teaching,
- 57:09Speaker 5: and so we do see how we see how Jim.
- 57:10Speaker 1: Is dressed for teaching.
- 57:12Speaker 2: Don't see a jacket, do you.
- 57:13Speaker 1: I don't see a jacket out.
- 57:14Speaker 5: No patches, no, no patches, bullship, my little.
- 57:21Speaker 2: You should wear a fez. You should wear a fet
- 57:23Speaker 2: just walking around and don't say anything.
- 57:27Speaker 5: Yeah, just if anybody says anything to you, but just
- 57:30Speaker 5: hold your hand up.
- 57:31Speaker 1: You're like, it's religious or just I can't talk about it.
- 57:36Speaker 1: What's up with the show? I know what you're gonna ask.
- 57:38Speaker 1: I can't. I know what you're gonna ask. And my
- 57:40Speaker 1: answer is what fez.
- 57:43Speaker 3: It's like from Robin Hood men in tights, So it
- 57:46Speaker 3: wasn't your mole On the other side, I have a mole.

- 58:27Speaker 1: Legally?
- 58:29Speaker 5: Like going to say, I thought you to make sure
- 58:34Speaker 5: that it's safe for the men.
- 58:37Speaker 2: Kiss It was a woman, then they sent a dog.
- 58:44Speaker 4: Man.
- 58:47Speaker 2: I want this thing to get hurt.
- 58:50Speaker 1: They set up a woman, then they set up a watermelon.
- 58:58Speaker 2: Thanks for coming tonight, Whitney.
- 59:04Speaker 1: Yeah, oh sorry, I forgot the question.
- 59:08Speaker 2: Which country was the first to send a woman into space?
- 59:11Speaker 2: A country sent a woman into space, tied her to
- 59:17Speaker 2: a rocket MANU it was.
- 59:20Speaker 1: It was old Lorie, the good old U s A.
- 59:23Speaker 4: No, the US women.
- 59:29Speaker 2: I don't think the US is. I don't think they've
- 59:31Speaker 2: yet to do it. Yeah, the US sent women in
- 59:35Speaker 2: the space of I didn't say they didn't try. Okay,
- 59:41Speaker 2: we had to reframe this. Who has sent one and
- 59:43Speaker 2: got her back?
- 59:47Speaker 4: Option?
- 59:48Speaker 2: Okay? Options are United States? Germany? Oh? Yeah, obviously not Germany,
- 59:53Speaker 2: China or the Soviet Union.
- 59:55Speaker 4: I was going to guess Soviet Union, so I guess
- 59:58Speaker 4: I'll stick with it.
- 59:59Speaker 2: Yes, the count options Valentina Tachikov. Yeah, and I have
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: a poster in nineteen sixty three. Nineteen sixty three, we
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: didn't send Sally ride until nineteen eighty three.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: All right, all right, Whitney.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: What did the very first website? What did the very
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: first website on the Internet contain?
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Oh? Man, I used to know this. It's porn.
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: That's a good gap option.
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: She is a hot supple, nineteen year old.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: NASA mission photos, information about the World Wide Web Project itself,
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: stock prices from the New York Stock Exchange, or a
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: digital index of the Liberty Library of Congress.
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: I mean, this is the first website, the.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Very first website on the internet. What did it contain?
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: That last one sounds like it could be good, But
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: it sounds like a lot of info for the first website.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Doing some math, doing some.
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: Lady the pictures.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: I also have numbers in it. There's like colors on
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: anything Whitney does. We're just going to refer to it
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: as lady whatever, lady therapy.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: And that is scientific. It's pissed, and that's why I'm mad. Literally,
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: just what's your guest?
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: Okay, So there was pictures about her space, you said.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: Submission photos, information about the World Wide Web Project itself,
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: stop prices from the New York Stock Exchange, or a
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: digital index of the Library of Costs yes, which one
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: was that information about the World Wide Web?
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: It felt like the first websites about websites.
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: I thought about the Library of Congress too, and did
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: the same math, but as as.
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: You did girl Boy Boy girl math.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, it better.
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: I saw a video the other day online. It was
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: of I think it was Sandra Bullock buying a ticket
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: a movie ticket online for the first time, like, and
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: her clicking the button. She's like, and I paid my
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: fifteen dollars and like fifteen dollars for movie tickets. But yeah,
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: she paid her money and then was like, and it's done.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: Like what this is a video from a while ago,
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: not recently literally.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Yes, well it's been behind times.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: Well no, but she's got people. She's not going to right,
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: she's not going to buy.
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: Her what it like a four clicking things like you animals.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: People do this themselves.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: How much does the gallon of milk cost? I don't know,
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: like one hundred dollars, I don't know. I don't buy groceries.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: People pour the milk in my mouth right from the udder.
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: I'm doing good. I think I have two points.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: Yep, uh, jim. What was the first feature length animated

- 1:03:41Speaker 2: or snow White in the Seven Wars nineteen thirty nine.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: Give me thirty nine.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: No, I'm sorry, shit, I'm sorry.
