Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The man, the myth, the legend, Peter Schweitzer himself.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Hello, sir, Hey Preston, how you doing, my friend?
- 0:06Speaker 1: Well, I'm doing well. I have wanted to have this
- 0:10Speaker 1: conversation since Doze got busy, because, Peter, anyone who follows
- 0:16Speaker 1: the work you've done for all these many years with
- 0:18Speaker 1: the all the best sellers know you saw this coming, right,
- 0:23Speaker 1: You saw what Doze is uncovering, and the waste and
- 0:27Speaker 1: the fraud and maybe maybe even the corruption that we're
- 0:31Speaker 1: going to learn about.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean what I like in the to Preston
- 0:35Speaker 2: is you know, you go into a dark room and
- 0:39Speaker 2: you're trying to find something and you're feeling your way around,
- 0:43Speaker 2: and you know it's there, right, you can you lift
- 0:45Speaker 2: it up? You know, Okay, the weight is right, Yes,
- 0:47Speaker 2: it feels exactly right. You know what's going on with
- 0:50Speaker 2: Dose is basically done is turn on the lights and
- 0:53Speaker 2: expose it in a way that we or no outsider
- 0:57Speaker 2: really could because you know, they have the ability. They
- 1:01Speaker 2: you know, ultimately would have subpoena power to say, you know,
- 1:03Speaker 2: give us access to all your records. So yeah, it's
- 1:07Speaker 2: it's tremendously encouraging the resistance that you're seeing is certainly
- 1:11Speaker 2: not unexpected because you're talking about this sort of vast
- 1:16Speaker 2: uh maybe call it underground economy where you see, you know,
- 1:20Speaker 2: billions of dollars slashing around, not just for you know,
- 1:25Speaker 2: some scam artists who's trying to get some Social Security money,
- 1:28Speaker 2: but you know for very connected people politically who have
- 1:32Speaker 2: figured out a way to take for example, government grants
- 1:35Speaker 2: to nonprofits and turned it into huge profit centers for
- 1:39Speaker 2: themselves and their family members personally.
- 1:43Speaker 1: What book started this journey for you?
- 1:47Speaker 2: Uh, it was a book I wrote called throw Them
- 1:49Speaker 2: All Out the Bubble title right, and throw Them All
- 1:53Speaker 2: Out really looked at looked at two things. It looked
- 1:57Speaker 2: at insider trading on the stock market by members of
- 2:01Speaker 2: Congress and you know, executive branch officials. And the second
- 2:05Speaker 2: thing it looked at ish government grants and the shifts
- 2:10Speaker 2: in legislation to you know, to benefit people. So that
- 2:14Speaker 2: was kind of the beginning, and that really gave me
- 2:17Speaker 2: a sense of how you know, when you look at
- 2:19Speaker 2: a nonprofit organization, you think, okay, well it's a nonprofit.
- 2:24Speaker 2: You know, yeah, they got to pay their people's salaries.
- 2:26Speaker 2: But it's not like people are building up a business.
- 2:28Speaker 2: But then when you realize how you can structure it,
- 2:31Speaker 2: you know, you get let's say you set up a
- 2:33Speaker 2: nonprofit business, uh for you know, green Banking, for example,
- 2:38Speaker 2: which is what Stacy Abrams did, and you get the
- 2:41Speaker 2: federal government to transfer you two billion dollars. You know, Okay,
- 2:46Speaker 2: you can't pay yourself an outrageous salary because you'll be
- 2:49Speaker 2: called out for But here's what you can do, Preston.
- 2:52Speaker 2: You can set up a series of LLCs, limited liability companies,
- 2:55Speaker 2: and you can have the nonprofit hire those LLCs to
- 3:00Speaker 2: handle marketing, to handle communications, to handle fundraising, and so
- 3:05Speaker 2: in effect, you have set up a series of businesses
- 3:08Speaker 2: and you're using government grants to pay yourself or your
- 3:11Speaker 2: family members. And that's really what you're seeing with a
- 3:15Speaker 2: lot of these quote unquote nonprofits. They're enormously profitable. You
- 3:21Speaker 2: look at USAID, the US Agency for International Development. We
- 3:25Speaker 2: found this in Clinton Cash, the book I wrote in
- 3:27Speaker 2: twenty fifteen, there was a study done that said half
- 3:31Speaker 2: the money that USAID spent on grants to help the
- 3:36Speaker 2: people of Haiti after the earthquake, you know, we're supposed
- 3:40Speaker 2: to feed them and clothe them, more than half The
- 3:42Speaker 2: money never left Washington, d C. It went to consultants
- 3:47Speaker 2: that went to advisors that went to all these very
- 3:49Speaker 2: comfortable people that were getting paid big salaries and you know,
- 3:53Speaker 2: big consulting fees to quote unquote advised on how you
- 3:57Speaker 2: were supposed to feed the people of Haiti. So I
- 3:59Speaker 2: think what's going on with Jos is great. I think
- 4:02Speaker 2: there is more to come. We're going to see more squealing,
- 4:05Speaker 2: but that's okay because we got to bring this stuff
- 4:08Speaker 2: to light.
- 4:11Speaker 1: New York Times bestseller head of the Government Accountability Institute.
- 4:16Speaker 1: But more important than all of that, our friend Peter
- 4:19Speaker 1: Schweitzer here this morning on the Morning Show. Peter, I
- 4:22Speaker 1: saved the post by Lara Logan where she connects some
- 4:27Speaker 1: dots reporting of Michael Schellenberger. And you mentioned USAID and
- 4:34Speaker 1: that there's even a money trail and connection between USAID
- 4:37Speaker 1: and the CIA, and that it was behind the first
- 4:40Speaker 1: impeachment trial of Trump, and it goes on and on,
- 4:43Speaker 1: and there's a suggestion here that there needs to be
- 4:46Speaker 1: an investigation of criminal charges against people involved in all
- 4:51Speaker 1: of that connecting back to this money being exposed. Would
- 4:56Speaker 1: it surprise you for us to see criminal referrals.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I think there absolutely should be criminal referrals, and I
- 5:02Speaker 2: hope they act on them. And here's why, Preston, I mean,
- 5:05Speaker 2: the problem is, as we all know, money is fungible. Right.
- 5:09Speaker 2: You have a you know, seventeen eighteen year old kid
- 5:11Speaker 2: and they say, oh, can you know, can I borrow
- 5:13Speaker 2: fifty bucks? And you give them fifty bucks. Well, they
- 5:16Speaker 2: could use that for just about anything, for something good
- 5:19Speaker 2: or for something bad, for the intended purpose, or for
- 5:22Speaker 2: what they really want to do. And the problem with
- 5:25Speaker 2: these government grants is nobody's really minding the store. And
- 5:29Speaker 2: so it should not be surprising that, you know, money
- 5:33Speaker 2: is flowing to an entity that says they're going to
- 5:36Speaker 2: use it for one thing, they you know, shift it
- 5:39Speaker 2: through a couple of LLCs or a couple of other
- 5:42Speaker 2: nonprofits and it comes out the other end doing something else.
- 5:46Speaker 2: And the problem is there are some legitimate I would
- 5:49Speaker 2: say it's pretty limited, but some pretty legitimate things that
- 5:53Speaker 2: government grants can go to. The only way, the only way, Preston,
- 5:58Speaker 2: you are going to deter people from manipulate lating the
- 6:00Speaker 2: system is that people that have manipulated engaged in illegal activity,
- 6:04Speaker 2: of which this would be go to jail and face
- 6:08Speaker 2: the penalty. See only to turn. If we know one
- 6:10Speaker 2: thing about Washington, DC, I don't care if you're a Democrat, Republican, independent, communist.
- 6:16Speaker 2: You know that in Washington, d C. If you allow
- 6:19Speaker 2: people to get away with something that's going to enrich
- 6:22Speaker 2: themselves or advance their agenda and they don't pay any
- 6:25Speaker 2: consequences for breaking the law, everybody's going to start doing it.
- 6:29Speaker 2: So that's why you've got to put your foot down
- 6:31Speaker 2: and deal with this or it's just going to get worse.
- 6:33Speaker 2: It's not going to get better.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Let me read a tail end of her post here,
- 6:37Speaker 1: because it references you and the work you've done, Muscot.
- 6:40Speaker 1: It connects the dots into the Clinton Foundation receiving USAID funds,
- 6:44Speaker 1: Clinton roll of sale of uranium stockpiles to the Russians,
- 6:48Speaker 1: US tech companies, partnerships with Russia, setting up Moscow's version
- 6:51Speaker 1: of Silicon Valley, and then all the FBI investigations into
- 6:56Speaker 1: Clinton never came to fruit despite a mountain of evidence
- 6:59Speaker 1: document by Peter Schweitzer the Government Accountability Institute in his
- 7:02Speaker 1: book Clinton Cash, and it goes on to say Special
- 7:06Speaker 1: Counsel Durham and his findings found the deputy FBI Director
- 7:10Speaker 1: McCabe restricted the FBI investigations in their Hillary Clinton. Will
- 7:16Speaker 1: we ever see that reopen?
- 7:17Speaker 2: Peter Well, I hope so. I mean, look, you've got
- 7:20Speaker 2: you've got cash berteled FBI, you've got the Attorney General
- 7:23Speaker 2: and Pam Bondi that you would think would not have
- 7:26Speaker 2: political reasons for not doing so. And look, it's a
- 7:30Speaker 2: similar thing with with with the Biden family. I mean,
- 7:33Speaker 2: you know, people say, oh, you know, let you know,
- 7:35Speaker 2: Biden's not in office anymore, the Clintons are long gone.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Let bygones be got bygones. The problem is, again, if
- 7:42Speaker 2: you allow people to engage in this and get away
- 7:44Speaker 2: with it, it's going to be imitated. So we need
- 7:47Speaker 2: to be doing this not because we need to quote
- 7:49Speaker 2: unquote get the Biden's or get the Clintons, but because
- 7:53Speaker 2: we have to ensure that this abuse is not going
- 7:56Speaker 2: to continue. And the only way you're going to get
- 7:59Speaker 2: that is PI taking it seriously as a criminal matter.
- 8:04Speaker 2: And I think certainly in the case of the Clinton's
- 8:08Speaker 2: there's questions probably about some of the deals in statute,
- 8:11Speaker 2: the limitations, But on the other hands, there's some that
- 8:14Speaker 2: there's no question. They should, There should be criminal referrals,
- 8:18Speaker 2: and they should be looking at ways in which, you know,
- 8:22Speaker 2: potential prosecutions could take forward. I'm not a lawyer, but
- 8:26Speaker 2: you know, don't let the excuse be, oh well, they're
- 8:28Speaker 2: out of office, it's no big deal. That is just
- 8:31Speaker 2: not going to cut it. And I don't think is
- 8:32Speaker 2: healthy for our country China.
- 8:34Speaker 1: We're seeing this back and forth on tariffs. We know
- 8:39Speaker 1: that Biden's compromise with China, but he's kind of sort
- 8:41Speaker 1: of out of the way. In your mind, is China
- 8:44Speaker 1: have any cards to play in all of this or
- 8:47Speaker 1: as many suspect, really the cards are in the US hands.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Yeah, the cards are in the US hands. And I
- 8:52Speaker 2: think if you look at at many of the things
- 8:55Speaker 2: that Trump is doing, they are geared precisely around dealing
- 8:59Speaker 2: with the true China threat and the China challenge. I mean,
- 9:02Speaker 2: look at the Ukraine Russia War. What's happened with Ukraine
- 9:06Speaker 2: Russia War, in addition to the human tragedy, is it
- 9:10Speaker 2: has pushed Russia into the camp with China and made
- 9:15Speaker 2: them much closer than they have been really historically since
- 9:18Speaker 2: the times of the time of Stalin. By trying to
- 9:22Speaker 2: unwind the Russia Ukraine war. He is trying to pull
- 9:25Speaker 2: Russia away from China to further isolate China. If you
- 9:28Speaker 2: look at what's happening with the tariffs, the tariffs on
- 9:32Speaker 2: Mexico and on China and Canada, a lot of it
- 9:35Speaker 2: relates to the fentanyl trade. And as I laid out
- 9:38Speaker 2: in my book Blood Money, the Chinese control every link
- 9:41Speaker 2: in the chain to the fentanyl poisoning that's happening in America.
- 9:45Speaker 2: One hundred thousand people are dying every year. It's the
- 9:48Speaker 2: leading cause of death for people under the age of
- 9:50Speaker 2: forty five. And it's not a drug addiction in the
- 9:54Speaker 2: way we think of it. The people that are dying
- 9:56Speaker 2: of fentanyl overdoses don't even know they're taking fentanyl. Kid
- 10:00Speaker 2: who is studying for a test in college and takes
- 10:03Speaker 2: what he thinks is an adderall and it's laced with sentinels.
- 10:07Speaker 2: So it's a form of warfare that China is engaging
- 10:11Speaker 2: against the United States. So what Trump is doing with tariffs,
- 10:16Speaker 2: and yes it is a little bit chaotic, but what
- 10:19Speaker 2: Trump is doing with tariffs is really isolating China. He's
- 10:22Speaker 2: telling other countries come and make a deal with US,
- 10:25Speaker 2: and we are going to deal with China last, and
- 10:28Speaker 2: this is what China fears the most. So I am
- 10:31Speaker 2: been very encouraged in what I've been seeing with Trump
- 10:36Speaker 2: on this. You have really, for the first time since Reagan,
- 10:39Speaker 2: what I would call a grand strategy that's being employed
- 10:42Speaker 2: against our major adversary. And he's using tools and weapons
- 10:47Speaker 2: that are not going to lead to war. He's using
- 10:50Speaker 2: tools and weapons that are going to make it difficult
- 10:54Speaker 2: for China in terms of technology and the economy, which
- 10:57Speaker 2: is really ultimately where their achilles heelve.
- 11:00Speaker 1: It looks significant to me when Australia took the overture
- 11:04Speaker 1: from China and basically thumbed them off and said get lost.
- 11:08Speaker 1: China's efforts to try to find others to join them
- 11:11Speaker 1: is meeting with crickets.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Yes exactly. I mean, look, when it comes to dealing
- 11:16Speaker 2: with China, the United States is kind of the older sibling.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Other countries, they'll grouse about their older brother, they'll they'll
- 11:23Speaker 2: they'll grouse about their older sister, but at the end
- 11:26Speaker 2: of the day, they often take their lead. And when
- 11:29Speaker 2: you had an administration under Joe Biden, but going back
- 11:33Speaker 2: Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton all very accommodating
- 11:37Speaker 2: towards China. The word of choice was quote unquote engagement.
- 11:41Speaker 2: We're going to engage with China, which meant giving them
- 11:44Speaker 2: access to our capital markets and technologies, where they just
- 11:47Speaker 2: got stronger and bigger and became a bigger threat. When
- 11:50Speaker 2: you have the new older sibling, which is Donald Trump,
- 11:54Speaker 2: coming in and say no, no, no, what we want to
- 11:56Speaker 2: do is isolate China because of what they're doing. The
- 12:00Speaker 2: younger siblings might grouse about it a little bit, but
- 12:03Speaker 2: they're definitely taking the lead. In Australia, I think is
- 12:06Speaker 2: a great example of that. You're even seeing it in
- 12:08Speaker 2: the UK and in France and in Europe. China has
- 12:13Speaker 2: clearly overplayed their hand. They think they're going to somehow
- 12:16Speaker 2: do an end around with the European Union. The European
- 12:19Speaker 2: Union knows at the end of the day, what China
- 12:21Speaker 2: wants to do is sell them goods. They do not
- 12:23Speaker 2: want europe to have broad access to their own markets,
- 12:28Speaker 2: so they know it's a dead end, and then they
- 12:30Speaker 2: know they need to do a deal with the United States.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Peter tell those that are listening that may not know
- 12:36Speaker 1: about it, that like me, could use a fix of
- 12:41Speaker 1: the intel that you and your team work on all
- 12:44Speaker 1: the time.
- 12:44Speaker 2: About your podcast, Oh well, thank you. Yeah. So our
- 12:49Speaker 2: podcast is called The Drill Down. You can subscribe to
- 12:52Speaker 2: it on any platforms.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I mean, like like the iHeartRadio app.
- 13:00Speaker 2: We need to have you do our ads, by the way,
- 13:03Speaker 2: they're much better than anything we've ever come up with. Sure, sure,
- 13:06Speaker 2: but you know, it's it's really twenty five minutes. It's
- 13:11Speaker 2: not one of these podcasts that goes on for a
- 13:13Speaker 2: long time. It's twenty five minutes that we pick a
- 13:15Speaker 2: very particular subject to focus on, and it comes out
- 13:19Speaker 2: once a week, and we really try to be ahead
- 13:22Speaker 2: of a curve and give you information that you're not
- 13:24Speaker 2: aware of. The one that we just did yesterday that's
- 13:28Speaker 2: out is about Trump and what he's doing with regards
- 13:32Speaker 2: to Harvard and higher education, and I think there's a
- 13:35Speaker 2: lot of interesting facts so people are aware of what's
- 13:38Speaker 2: really going on there. It's not just about you know,
- 13:41Speaker 2: the anti semitism and the things going on in college campuses,
- 13:45Speaker 2: although that's important, it's much more broad reaching. And again
- 13:49Speaker 2: that it's that follow that money model that we try
- 13:51Speaker 2: to take in everything that we do.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Good stuff, the Drill Down, which can be found on
- 13:56Speaker 1: the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcast. That's fine, Peter, perfect, Peter,
- 14:03Speaker 1: thank you as always for the time. You're always very
- 14:05Speaker 1: generous and I appreciate it very much. Best to you.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Thanks, brother, Take care.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Peter Schweitzer with me on The Morning Show with Prestin
- 14:12Speaker 1: Scott twenty seven minutes past the hour.
