In the thirteenth chapter of John, Jesus washes his disciples' feet. Peter protests that he should be washing Jesus's feet, but then the Lord teaches Peter an important lesson--that the leader is the servant and that humility is the ultimate strength. Jesus wanted his disciples to be strong for the future trials they were about to face; He wanted them to be, as one author has said, "antifragile."
