Latest / Early Edition with Ryan Bridge / Ryan Bridge: Name me one Prime Minister who is in touch
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: So Luxeon's out of touch. Apparently, name me one politician,
- 0:05Speaker 1: one prime minister, one president in the world who's in touch.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Doesn't matter which side of politics they're on. Albanesi Labor,
- 0:12Speaker 1: He's just bought a four million dollar cliff top mansion
- 0:14Speaker 1: north of Sydney. Keir Starmer Labor, He's worth ten million
- 0:18Speaker 1: New Zealand dollars excluding all the donor Freebi's Karmela Harris
- 0:21Speaker 1: worth thirteen million New Zealand dollars dollars. Tory Farno one
- 0:24Speaker 1: Lotto Richie soon acts a billionaire just into are doing
- 0:27Speaker 1: gets three hundred thousand dollars per speaking. Chris Sipkins has
- 0:31Speaker 1: multiple properties, so they are all rich. The question is
- 0:35Speaker 1: does it really matter and why the question in the
- 0:38Speaker 1: first place. Would we rather they only got rich through
- 0:43Speaker 1: public office, as Albanese seems to be admitting. He says,
- 0:46Speaker 1: I'm fortunate and much better off as Prime minister. Personally,
- 0:51Speaker 1: I'd rather they manage to build a business, run a company,
- 0:55Speaker 1: or do something productive first to earn their wealth, rather
- 0:58Speaker 1: than just walk into a job as minister and get
- 1:00Speaker 1: rich that way. Or when lotto, if somebody had experience
- 1:06Speaker 1: running a charity or something like that wasn't paid very well,
- 1:08Speaker 1: but was skilled and motivated and strategic, then I'd vote
- 1:11Speaker 1: for them too. It's about experience. It's not shouldn't be
- 1:15Speaker 1: about surely how wealthy you are or how poor you are.
- 1:19Speaker 1: What matters is how well you can run an economy
- 1:23Speaker 1: so that hard working people can get ahead. Just ask
- 1:26Speaker 1: Donald Trump. He's about to be re elected despite being
- 1:30Speaker 1: born with a silver spoon in his mouth for exactly
- 1:33Speaker 1: that record under his last watch. For more from Early
- 1:37Speaker 1: Edition with Ryan Bridge, listen live to News Talks. It'd
- 1:40Speaker 1: be from five am weekdays, or follow the podcast on
- 1:44Speaker 1: iHeartRadio
