- 0:11Speaker 1: Was it yesterday?
- 0:12Speaker 2: The award ceremonies September fourteen.
- 0:15Speaker 1: So here here we'll go down the list of some
- 0:18Speaker 1: of the great nominees and interesting nominees. But here The
- 0:21Speaker 1: New York Times has some snubs and surprises. A surprise,
- 0:26Speaker 1: Your Friends and Neighbors was nominated.
- 0:29Speaker 2: That's the John Ham.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Yeah, satires of suburban family life. It was on No.
- 0:34Speaker 1: One's list of favorites for Drama series nomination for its
- 0:37Speaker 1: second season. Apparently its jaundiced view of contemporary moral sexual
- 0:41Speaker 1: imperatives resonated with people who mattered now, so that means
- 0:45Speaker 1: Apple TV has three entries in the drama category, along
- 0:49Speaker 1: with The Pluribus and Slow Horses. But the snub John Ham.
- 0:56Speaker 1: He didn't get a nomination, and according to the New
- 0:59Speaker 1: York Times critics, he's the reason the show is so good.
- 1:02Speaker 1: He's perfect in that role. Another snub, half Man. I'm
- 1:07Speaker 1: not familiar, but it's Richard Gadd who did Baby Reindeer.
- 1:11Speaker 1: It's his follow up. It didn't get a nomination and
- 1:16Speaker 1: they think that that's pretty pretty odd. Although I had.
- 1:20Speaker 2: A hard time with Baby Reindeer.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Well it was rough, it was rough. But surprise nomination
- 1:26Speaker 1: Yah yaha yah yah Abdullah Mattein the second for playing
- 1:31Speaker 1: a struggling actor and wonder Man, wonder Man. He was
- 1:36Speaker 1: very good in surprise nomination Chase Infinity. She's the lead
- 1:43Speaker 1: in the Handmade's Tales spin off The Testaments. Oh she
- 1:46Speaker 1: is yeah, okay and says her nomination. She got the
- 1:49Speaker 1: nomination probably at the expense of Kathy Bates and Matlocke,
- 1:53Speaker 1: who went from being a favorite to win the Drama
- 1:54Speaker 1: Actress Award last year to being just left out this year.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Snub the Amazing. The Amazing race almost always gets a
- 2:02Speaker 1: nomination now it doesn't always win, but it was pushed
- 2:07Speaker 1: out of the way by Dancing with the Stars and
- 2:10Speaker 1: finally this one surprise and it's something we were just
- 2:13Speaker 1: talking about last hour. A nomination for Ariana Maddox. She
- 2:19Speaker 1: is the the host for Love Island USA. She is
- 2:25Speaker 1: the presenter of Peacock's Love Island USA. Phil Keegan, pad
- 2:29Speaker 1: Melakshmi and the Queer Eye guys are all wondering what
- 2:32Speaker 1: happened Maddox does have Emmy's experience. She was host of
- 2:36Speaker 1: Live from e Emmy After Party. So there you go.
- 2:40Speaker 1: So those are according to The New York Times, some
- 2:42Speaker 1: of the snubs and all of that. But The Pit
- 2:47Speaker 1: and Hacks lead the pack in nominations.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Two shows. I love great shows.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Yeah, let's see the as is done.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I finally finished it. Oh you didn't, and I thought, yeah,
- 2:58Speaker 2: that's a good way.
- 2:59Speaker 1: To It was okay. It was a little it was
- 3:02Speaker 1: a little maudlin, but it was all right.
- 3:06Speaker 4: You got to end it somehow, and I think that
- 3:08Speaker 4: made sense as a wait.
- 3:10Speaker 1: The Pid got twenty five Emmy nominations, as did Hacks.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Pits stars Noah Wiley, Catherine Lanassa. Which one is she
- 3:21Speaker 1: she's the head nurse. Oh.
- 3:23Speaker 3: She was married to Dennis Hoppers for a while.
- 3:26Speaker 2: She said his ghost taunts her.
- 3:30Speaker 1: They were winners from last year. They were nominated again
- 3:32Speaker 1: along with six other actors from the show. The Pit
- 3:35Speaker 1: is the favorite to take the Best Drama honors again,
- 3:38Speaker 1: but the competition is pluribus. Yes, that had eighteen nomination
- 3:45Speaker 1: and let's see in the comedy categories. The final season
- 3:50Speaker 1: for Hacks went out strong, got twenty four nominations, a
- 3:53Speaker 1: record for the category. Hacks will compete against Widow's Bay,
- 3:59Speaker 1: and Widow's got a lot of you know, a lot
- 4:02Speaker 1: of steam behind it. People just it's because it's so unusual.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Got It's got eight nineteen nominations in total. Geene Smart
- 4:11Speaker 1: another nomination for Best Actress, and if she wins, she
- 4:15Speaker 1: will tie Chloris Leachman. Oh really and Julia Luis Dreyfus
- 4:19Speaker 1: for the most Acting Emmys won by a single performer.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Oh, just give it to her, Yeah, just do it.
- 4:25Speaker 1: She's going to going up against Quinta Brunson Abbott, Elementary
- 4:29Speaker 1: El Fanning, Margo's Got Money Troubles. My god, she was
- 4:32Speaker 1: good in that El. I'd never really thought much about
- 4:36Speaker 1: a great actress. I've never really thought that much about
- 4:38Speaker 1: her one way or the other. And then I watched
- 4:40Speaker 1: this and I just went, holy.
- 4:41Speaker 3: You see her in the Predator movie?
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, Oh no, I haven't seen that yet.

- 5:08Speaker 1: didn't think I would like it.
- 5:10Speaker 2: But it has Oscar Isaac's in it.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I started, he's weird looking.
- 5:14Speaker 2: No, he's cute.
- 5:15Speaker 1: He's weird looking, I think in that. Have you been
- 5:17Speaker 1: watching it? No? Yeah, well I finished it. So I've
- 5:21Speaker 1: watched two episodes and it turns out I really like it.
- 5:24Speaker 1: But there's not a single person, at least as far
- 5:26Speaker 1: as the first two episodes. There's not one likable person
- 5:29Speaker 1: in the whole thing.
- 5:30Speaker 3: And that really won't change.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I can't I understand that.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Oh no, wait, it'll one person.

- 6:11Speaker 5: for a continuing series.
- 6:13Speaker 3: But we haven't heard anything yet.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Let's see what are some of the other nominations going
- 6:19Speaker 1: through some hierarchy changes right now.
- 6:22Speaker 4: So Stephen Colbert for a Variety, they'll give it to him.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I would think Rob.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Reiner, it's almost not fair to have that category because
- 6:34Speaker 4: they'll just give it to him for He gets it.
- 6:36Speaker 1: For Supporting Actor in a in the Bear, he was
- 6:40Speaker 1: really good. Yeah. Let's see Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama,

- 7:33Speaker 1: does you know how hard it is to do dialogue
- 7:36Speaker 1: and eat, and he's eating a lot and he's got that. Well,
- 7:41Speaker 1: he'll have a carton of noodles and and chopsticks and
- 7:44Speaker 1: be eating with chopsticks and delivering dialogue. That's really that's
- 7:48Speaker 1: just that's good acting. Mark Ruffalo for task which I
- 7:52Speaker 1: don't know what that is.
- 7:53Speaker 3: It was really good and he was good in it.
