- Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Hey, what's good? King Johannes is a music producer and master audio engineer. He's such a badass that he's currently working on projects with Inspectah Deck from Wu Tang Clan and hip hop legend Big Daddy Kane. Cefore X. Plosives joins me in this conversation with King Yohannes Before we get into it, remember to go to CoconutJustice.com to get you some clothes that I think would look good on you. Let's go. There he is everybody. Music producer Extraordinaire King Johannes is in the house. What's going on, King Yohannes: Yes, sir. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): King? King Yohannes: What's going on? How you doing, man? Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Good to meet you. King Yohannes: Good to meet you too, Carlos, man. Definitely. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And the way we met was because C4 Explosives is back in the house. Woo-hoo. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: It is good. Good to be back again. Chopping it up, my man. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. So we were talking about right before we hit record, we were talking about how you guys met. Who wants to take the lead on the on telling that story? Cefore X. Plosives: I mean, I'll I'll I'll I'll try I'll intro and then King could just take this thing away, man, because I only got a small piece on this, man. On Instagram, I had saw that Big Daddy King put out a 16 bar challenge. Man, and the bee was sick, dog. I'm like, man, look Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: at King, Conway, Jada was on there, and I'm like, man, Billy Dance. I'm like, man, I gotta get in on this man. I may have all these gray hairs, but I still got bars. So I dropped my 16. I got my sixteen and then King King King reposted, man, he hit and I hit him up in the comments, man. And I just said I appreciate you know, you commenting on the the the post and everything and you know, a lot of you know, a lot of times you people you see on the internet, man, when especially when they're making music are bigger than than anything, so you don't really get to connect with anybody. So for for King to come out and, you know, just chop it up with me for a second. And then after that, I was like, I gotta get him on the show. I'm like, all these things are running through my head. I wanna get some bees from them. I'm like, yo, we gotta work. But King, you dropped a banger, dog. And you got legends on that thing. And mad love. I don't know how many people dropped sixteens on that thing, but it had to be at least a hundred people. King Yohannes: Yeah, it's it's been a lot of people and everything. Yours, I lo I seen yours, I like, Yeah, this is tough, this is fire. I was like he rapping doing his thing. And then that Yeah. Yeah, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mike likes to pick fights. King Yohannes: it was dope. It was dope. And when how it when it dropped, I didn't even think nothing of it. I was just chilling, you know. Getting ready to, you know, play the video game or whatever. Then one of my homeboys or fellow producer of mine's C Nice, he calls me. He like, Did you see it? I'm like, what you talking about? He was like, The post. Kane just posted. He just posted you. And I'm like, what you talking about? And then he was like, go on Instagram. And then I look, and then I seen they dropped the challenge. And I'm like, Okay, it's it's go time now. So I'm like, okay. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: It it caught me unexpected because I didn't even know he was gonna drop it and he when he dropped it it went crazy, then everybody started jumping in, C4 did it, Pat Post done it. I actually a couple people did it Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's crazy. King Yohannes: and then I made a post saying that I would like to see battle rappers. The industry rappers. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Comeat. Yeah. King Yohannes: I think I was like, I think everybody should get in on this because I'm like, this is a dope his historical movement right here. And literally the next day, Pat Poose dropped the freestyle. I'm like, are they listening? Are you paying attention? I was like, that's crazy. But then Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Ha ha ha King Yohannes: a lot of a lot of legends, Grandmaster Cass, Kid Capri, Cefore X. Plosives: Yep. Kapri's versus Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I saw him too, yeah. Yeah. King Yohannes: Yeah, Kids Free went crazy. Good is the animal. Cefore X. Plosives: The graph was on there. King Yohannes: A lot of rappers, a lot of upcoming rappers. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: there's a duel. I can't remember their name off the top of my head right now. There's a couple. They was dope. Yeah, there was a lot of dope people. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Word the beat where the beat is this was this beat made for Kane? King Yohannes: Yes. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And by and it it just so folks know, Kane is Big Daddy Kane. Is is is fucking hip hop history that right there. So you made the beef for Kane? King Yohannes: Yes, sir. Yeah, I made the beat for him. Mm-hmm. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: Yeah, I sent it to him. he was like, you know, he gave me a c he was like, Who you hear on this? He was like, I think I we need someone like loud, like a DJ Cali or something like that, but a rapper. And then I was like, Alright, cool. And I you know, I sat on it, thought thought thought about it for a minute, and I was like I like if I was to hear someone on here, I was like, I think MOP would sound dope on this. I said Jada Kiss and I would I would have to tap in one of the Grill Zelda dudes. I was like, I don't know which one, but one of them would fit. And then when he sent me the he sent me it and I was like Yeah, I was like, I was like Cefore X. Plosives: The wish list. Check. Check. King Yohannes: dang you you just checked it off and made it happen, like just with no problem. But they they did their thing on when they did it on Instagram and they did they post it was dope. Jada kiss responded back like twenty minutes after Kane posted where's your bars at? Jada did his and it was dope, like how everything happened on the fly like that. It was just dope. So and then just seeing Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Is this your first big beat breakout beat? Yeah. King Yohannes: Yes. Y Yes. Yes. Publicly known, yes. I have other placements but that I didn't get credit for. So I don't count those. But this one was the biggest one that get that put me on the map for and yeah, it was just seeing everybody that when it got to the point where it was people doing it from different countries and stuff. I seen people Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm hmm. King Yohannes: from Persia do it, people from UK. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): In their language or in in English? King Yohannes: in their language and some did it in their own language too. Yeah yeah it was in English Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Hell yeah. How how mind blowing is that? That's crazy. King Yohannes: I was like, wow, this is dope. So they they sent me them. I do got clips of them. So what I'm trying to do is I'm gonna put them together because I didn't know how King was doing the slides on his page. I was like, How do you do that? But I didn't know how to do it. So I just figured it out, but what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna I'm gonna post them and put them on my website of the challenge and everything. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): hell yeah. King Yohannes: on RoyalCrounds Productions dot com and put it on there and I'ma put all all the challenges and just tap in on that. As much as I could find and everything. Cause there's a lot of there's a Cefore X. Plosives: Well you know King Yohannes: lot of submissions. Cefore X. Plosives: man, yeah, you you already know where I'm at. man, we see and can't come out and just chop it in the he had the velvet suit on and shit, like the hoodie, and he's just like, yo. King Yohannes: Hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: And I'm like, man, this is it it's so cool right now what what was going on with music too, man. And all the OGs are coming out and they're dropping bars. Like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yes. Yes. Cefore X. Plosives: they're they're putting everybody on notice that ever picked up a Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I told everybody the old heads are coming back to claim this shit back 'cause these young kids got reckless and making making shit that don't make sense. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I I I I mean Kane had talks about that. I was like, yeah, it's time to take over, bring old music back and everything. I don't think this these times people are making like timeless music and everything. So Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: I feel like music that's out now only lasts for like a few months. And Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: everything. It's like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, for real. King Yohannes: the life expectancy of music now is really, really short and everything. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: Well see, like Carlos and I are from Chicago, right? That's where we met, you know, and we're their music is like like our we grew up on like a lot of R and B and you know it's like you know there and there's no no no timeless R and B made past like in the last 20 years, right? Like there's not a joint. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: The joints are cool, but there's nothing like the stuff that came out in the 50s and 60s, you know, like you know, the OJs and like Earth with a fire, like you got and then you you go all all the way up to Joe Disney and Blackstreet, like there's nothing like that. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): He sweat he made them baby Cefore X. Plosives: You know, keys where baby face. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): makers, boy. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. And it it's like that. It's like that music just doesn't do isn't out anymore. They they it's like they don't know how to make it anymore. You know what I'm saying? And that that kinda went with hip hop and it went into the mumble rap and then it just went it fell off, man. But King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah, they start they started losing purpose and messages in the music now. So it's Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: like half the stuff is not really inspiring a lot of the younger generations in the right direction. So Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And do you guys think that it's like a nefarious group of people that are trying to fuck with black and brown, the black and brown community? They're like, we're gonna sprinkle money on hip hop and make it trash. Do you guys think it's that's on purpose? Or do you guys think that it's just the way that it's just the way that music goes sometimes? King Yohannes: I think it's a little bit of both. Yes. I think it's the way music goes, but I also know there are people that probably rather push a certain narrative with music into that community Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm. King Yohannes: than the positive community stuff and everything. So yeah, they they does play a role and everything. But it all like I always tell where everybody when you are at a point where you have to decide what to do is is a choice that you make w before you decide to do what you're doing. So whatever Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: music that you decided to make and you wrote down if you decided to put it out and that's the message. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You put your name on it, yeah. King Yohannes: And that's the choice you decided to put Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah like we King Yohannes: out. Cefore X. Plosives: we we talked we had vice on vice versa on the channel and we talked to him about kind of the same thing and like i it comes to a point where like as an artist if you in the if you're if they put you out there, you know, if you're if they put all the money behind you and you're you're just you're just a a pawn, right? Then you're gonna do whatever you wanna do. You're or whatever they tell you to do. But then your longevity, it's it's not you're not gonna last. Right. So in in the chance that you're you're an MC or a producer and you are making music that is true to you, then it doesn't matter whether you get the bag or not. It's great to get the bag, believe me. But for for for my soul, for the sake of, you know, like I know I won't be here forever, but I know if my kids can always press play and listen to the music and they can hear me. Right. And that that that's really important to me. And I always wanted to make music that my kids can listen to or my grandparents could listen to and I'll be straight. You know, I then I know I'm doing I'm in the right pocket. You know, and then like so there's a lot of like they want that narrative pushed out just because they they make money off of it. And they make money off of creating problems and issues. So like it's like it's Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I thought. Cefore X. Plosives: like doctors, they're gonna make you sick, but they're gonna put a band aid on it and they're gonna keep making you sick. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): They're gonna keep you alive just Cefore X. Plosives: Because you're gonna come back and Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): enough. Cefore X. Plosives: Right. They'll heal you just enough. They'll give you King Yohannes: Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: just enough money. King Yohannes: Just enough to keep you br still breathing. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, what a brutal way to make it. did you always want to be a music producer? King Yohannes: I always played music, but I I I started off rapping Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: and everything and I don't know if Jadekiss I never got to have this conversation with him yet. But when I was like sixteen I freestyle for him. And he was like S it's dope. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): He he's a here's a turntable. King Yohannes: Just just just slip simplify what you're trying to say 'cause all my rhymes was so long winded. It was like I it took forever to get to the point. So he was like, It's dope. What you saying, your messages is dope, but you shorten it. And then I you know, I I took advice to that. But I used to rap so much that it would get on people's nerves. So Yeah. So then I got to the point where I just stopped. 'Cause I was, you know, young, so when everybody telling you stop know, I t I tend to at that time would be the kid that was if everybody's saying the one thing then I need to stop. So then I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: then I stopped and just focused on basketball and still did music production here and there for like bands and stuff. But until I moved out here to Charlotte, I came across someone that was playing beats on a computer when it was FL Studio. And I was like, huh, I wanna try that 'cause I all I knew was about hard keyboards and stuff, so I was like I didn't know there's a software for this and everything. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: So then I started doing that and I learned Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): So like you're a proper musician, you play instruments and stuff. King Yohannes: Yeah, I'm not as good as I used to, but I could I could play. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Yeah. King Yohannes: I'm actually I just grabbed me a bass guitar, so I'm taking bass lessons every Sunday at at Guitar Center. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): hell yeah. Hell yeah. King Yohannes: So I did drums, I did the cellophones. I I haven't played a violin or anything like that. I played the keyboard a little bit and stuff, but I didn't know music theory. So then I I went to full cell university to learn music theory more. Graduated there, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Which one did you go to? King Yohannes: the one in Florida. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Orlando? someone some of my friends were teachers there. I don't know if d no, they did multimedia, they didn't do music, but King Yohannes: I did I did media communications at one point two there. And everything 'cause I was trying to find like my way as I was building my own brand and making Royal Crowns production. I was trying to figure out tricks and skills that I need to know to help brand my business more. So I did that after that. And then as I was going through that, I would go into beat battles and showcases and stuff. And you know, I would lose some. But the ones that I would lose is cause they would be like, The mix is bad, the beat is dope, but the mix is bad and that used to piss me off. Cause I'm like, if the beat is fire, why are you still judging me on something that I don't know how to do? I j all I was supposed to do is just make the beats. You supposed to be judging me off the beats, not the quality of the cell. So that that that used to get to me. So then I went to back to full cell and got my degree in audio production. So now I'm also a audio engineer, mixing master Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah. King Yohannes: and all that. Cefore X. Plosives: That's what's up. King Yohannes: Pro tool certifying and a whole bunch of good stuff. So yeah. Appreciate it, yes. Cefore X. Plosives: Now you make him bangers. Making bangers. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Are you one of those guys that big ass soundboard with like a million buttons and you know what buttons do what and they're sliding shit up and down? No? King Yohannes: No. No. Cefore X. Plosives: S S L. King Yohannes: I I feel like those are nice to have. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm. King Yohannes: But especially with the times we in now, all that is on your door. Digit digitally. So I'm like, well it I mean it's nice for the for a studio look, I think. 'Cause I've been in some studios and I I've touched accidentally just to see what it does. And then I learned you do not touch the sound. Yeah. Yeah, you Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You got your slappy you got your hair slappy. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: do not touch the cell. Cefore X. Plosives: Don't turn them out, man. Don't turn them out. King Yohannes: Yeah, do not turn the knobs. That's the one one thing I know that's you respect the studio. Do not touch the knobs. So Yeah, that Cefore X. Plosives: You know if they got that board in there, they're they it ain't King Yohannes: is so I would rather it Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Let me sneak. King Yohannes: w just the digital stuff. I wouldn't mind it Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: if I was to have like my own like built from the ground up studio. I probably would have one. But Most likely I probably wouldn't use it though 'cause I'm so used to doing everything on the on the on the computer. So Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. I have to I Cefore X. Plosives: Ebbie Eddie Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): have to slide hang on. I have to slide this story in because it it might not fit anywhere else in this conversation. I was hanging out with Doug Infinite a couple of weeks ago and he always tells a story of this turntable that he had that would spin the records at a certain RPM. And you know, like when you're you got your sound, you figured it out, you got your proper tool, the perfect tool for the sound that you're creating, and you know it would It sped up the record and all this stuff. But he was afraid that if he ever turned it off, that it would never turn back on. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And so he just kept this fucking thing just kept spinning. He said, All I would do is squirt a little oil on it, and then we'd go out and you know, and his wife was like, When are you gonna turn this off? He's like, Never King Yohannes: Wow. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: That's crazy. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. So like anything that's happening in a studio, them slapping your hand and shit like that, like you gotta be careful what you're touching. You just never King Yohannes: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): know. King Yohannes: Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Like, what's this thing? What's this thing do, man? Turn this off. Somebody left it on. Like that. No, no, no, but King Yohannes: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): There goes your whole sound. King Yohannes: Yeah. And he knew instantly cause I w he left, he was like, Yeah, get ahead and play some beats. So it was kinda low. I didn't think to touch the interface to turn the knob up. I go to the soundboard and start moving stuff. And then Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: he's like, Dude, you're messing up my speakers. Do not touch anything. Yeah, yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You about to go home, you don't even know it. King Yohannes: He's like, I'm about to take you back home. He was like, You ain't been here two minutes and you're already messing up stuff. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Goes in the corner. Cefore X. Plosives: Like the kids touching all the buttons. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yep. So I li I learned, I was like, okay, and then he explained it to me. I was like, and then he showed me as he had to fix it back to wait a while to be able to play the visa game. So Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah no. King Yohannes: Yeah, I was definitely on timeout. I had to watch it and I was like, He was like, I shouldn't have made you do this since you go to school for engineering and all that. So But yeah, I I know not to touch the soundboards. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Where did you grow up? King Yohannes: Bronx, New York. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Okay. King Yohannes: Yeah. Right on East Stream on in Belmont. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Okay. That's like that's like right there, right there too. And you're talking about like when you were a kid, you you kept rapping. Like to be fair to you, that was a lot of people. I can only imagine literally everyone in the Bronx trying to drop bars. Twenty four seven. King Yohannes: Yeah. And then Yeah, and I was the one every time just 'cause we was chillin' I just had to kick a freestyle and stuff. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: And then they it just I guess it just got tired. It was like, dude, shut up. Like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Shut the fuck. King Yohannes: go play basketball or go do some go play the video game. Like we don't wanna hear that right now. Cefore X. Plosives: You r you ran into into Jada, did you run into anybody else while you were out there? While you're growing up? King Yohannes: yeah, growing up the the reason I met some of these guys is cause my my older brother played in Rucker Park. my older brother is stretch. he played Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): snow. King Yohannes: yeah, he played for Terra Squad for Fat Joe and everything. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah, yeah. King Yohannes: Tony Sunshine used to live in the same building as me in the Bronx and everything. Rest in peace is Ma and Wanda. He lived on the first floor and him and my mom's was really cool. I met French Montana. Me and French Montana went to high school together and everything. So and we all from like the same neighborhood. Like literally like a block or two away. So whenever we on East Tremont, we always met each other and stuff. But yeah, I d I met French Montana. I met Who else? I've met T I and then that was all far as I went as far as New York. I met those are the only people I that I could think of off the top of my head right now. Hopefully. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You ever play ball on records? King Yohannes: I've always wanted to. I but I I have played in like gotchos and dictment, like a game or two and everything. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Yeah. King Yohannes: I never got to make it to Rucker Park though. Cefore X. Plosives: Would be playing on going to Rucker Park just trying to step on foot, would that be like touching the knobs of the the board? You know what I'm saying? Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Ha ha ha. Cefore X. Plosives: Like what you King Yohannes: Nah, it Cefore X. Plosives: doing all what you doing over here? King Yohannes: no, it was more I I was really good at basketball. Well, I think what it was is my older brother was more of the overprotective brother. So he you know, me taking the bumps and stuff, he he wasn't he wasn't with that. So it was like and I'm like that with him now when he's played basketball. If someone bump him, I'm on the court raid to swing on somebody, like don't touch them. So I I understand that. But yeah, I never got Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah. That's a good part of having a big brother though. Cause like I was nice with it too. I was nice. I was so good that people wanted to fight me all the time. And my brother was like, my I have a brother that's a year older. He was always just a little stockier than me. He was my he was my when Mike Jordan first came out, he had what's his name? Help me, Mike. he ended up getting traded to New York. Cefore X. Plosives: Okay. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Oakley, he had his Oakley. My brother Armando was my Oakley. King Yohannes: yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it's good King Yohannes: That's what's up. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): to have that big brother watching out for you. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah, he was a little too overprotective. But but Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Sure, sure, sure. King Yohannes: but I get why he was doing it though. So Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: and everything. So I because I was I was getting into a lot of fights back then. I had the really long hair and everything. They used to call me perm and I didn't have no perm in my hair. It was Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: just really long any hair 'cause they d they Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Is your hair wavy naturally? Yeah. King Yohannes: Yes. So my mom is from Panama. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Okay. King Yohannes: And then my dad is from South Carolina, but they like Cherokee Indian and everything. Technically I just say black and Spanish and everything. But Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. You got that go her. King Yohannes: Yeah, so I had it real long and it wasn't Cefore X. Plosives: Jones. King Yohannes: dreads, I didn't have locks at the time. It was just long hairs and no facial hairs, so then they used to mistake me for for the wrong gender when I was young. So w mom used to have me walk outside with my shirt open and everything. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: Just to just to show the difference and everything. But I'm glad I eventually grew s my face grew into a man. And and I I I started giving my my features more. So I was like, alright. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's hilarious. Your hair was so pretty, your mom made you King Yohannes: Yeah, I had some crazy incidents. I was like I was like, mom, it's time to cut the hair. I was like, we gotta cut this hair. So I had cut it and then kept the low cut, did the waves thing for a while. And then when I'm when my son was born, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: that's when I decided to try to do locks. And everything. And I was like, I'm gonna try the lock journey. I was like my dad used to do locks and everything, so he used to have it. So I was like, let me try it out and everything. And I've been having them ever since. He nine now, so they they nine years old. So yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: They're long too, man. I saw in the video. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Nice. King Yohannes: Yeah, I'm ready to cut them. I don't I don't know Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Got me. That means no. King Yohannes: how them other people do it with their head longer past their butt and all that. That shit make your name. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Don't that shit get heavy and hot and all the things? Yeah. I can only imagine. King Yohannes: Yes. Yes. And it and it caused headaches. It make my my back of my neck Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): no thank you. King Yohannes: killing me. I'm like, yeah, it's time to cut my hair. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: So yeah. But other than that, yeah, it's just I think that's all of the celebrity rappers that I did meet. It was just Jada Kiss, Fat Joe, French Montana. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): What do you think about what do you think about what's happening with Fad Joe? King Yohannes: the Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): With him with him saying he's blacker than black and all this other stuff. Number one, that's a wild thing to say. I don't care. King Yohannes: Yeah, I didn't I didn't even know he said that. That's crazy. But I wouldn't say he's I I can't say his he can't say the word. Is 'cause it's like if everybody really do their research, we all black and everything. Yeah, so it's like yeah. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I mean, that's the shortcut. Just just get to it. Yeah. King Yohannes: I think I think what's going on right now is just people just picking at Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: something just to, you know. But Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You know why you know why they're worried about that? Cause they don't have to worry about a bear. They don't have to worry about fucking wild animals eating them. Cause if a saber-toothed tiger was chasing after your ass, you're not worried about what anybody is saying. King Yohannes: Right. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You just picking shit now. Granted, granted, Cefore X. Plosives: I Sancho's gonna do that forever. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I have never in my life, with the exception of being in the car by myself and listening to word for to rap music, that's That's the only time I can f I feel the need to even kinda and even then I don't even really say it. It's just King Yohannes: Right. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I don't want to get in the habit. I have way too many people that that I respect. King Yohannes: Yeah, I like I think for me growing up back home we say it a lot. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: But even me being down here in the south, I just really don't say it like that no more and everything. Unless I'm pissed off. That the only time start Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: hearing but I think that's where anybody you start hearing the accent, the true accent come out and everything. So I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Yeah. King Yohannes: think that's that's what that is, but yeah, I don't really say it that much either and everything. And there's a whole factual backstory to the word and everything. So it's like people people say it and then they you know, we all know what term they are they're meaning it in when they say it. So Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Especially man, like right now I I'm in Florida, so like you there's a bunch Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: of videos that been coming out with with with black people coming out of pocket. Especially little kids. Now my my daughter was like she's in eighth grade, but last year they were it was like left and right. These little dudes were were on the bus or like in a lunchroom and my daughter's like, You can't even say this. I might le I'm a and it And it's like they have a they have a they have a hall pass to just be racist as hell. You know what I'm saying? W w what's going on? They Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): They think Cefore X. Plosives: think. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah, they think, but that shit is getting squashed. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah, that that's gonna be obsolete soon. Cefore X. Plosives: Well, I I told I I I had that that encounter with those little kids locking up their scooters. I I on I I told Carlos about Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: it. But I was at Walgreens and I'm I'm in my trunk and these two two little white kids were were locking up their scooters and he's they're like, No Mexicans gonna steal my scooter today and I turn around and say, Excuse me? And they're like, I'm like, What'd you say? What you say about Mexicans? She they're like, no we didn't say anything. We didn't say anything. I'm like, Yeah. Yeah. King Yohannes: Hmm. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's sudden you snatch your scooter and put it in the open trunk. Cefore X. Plosives: I should have put a little brick little bricks on the on underneath the little put the tires. But King Yohannes: Right. Right. Cefore X. Plosives: the yeah, it's bad, man. It is bad. Ignorance. King Yohannes: Yeah, they be they I I yeah. I I've experienced it from both sides too. Like I've seen like 'cause when they would see my mom Spanish and then they'd be like, you speak Mexican and I'm like, I speak Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: I said, my mom speaks Spanish. We all speak one language. You I was like he was like, I don't know about all of that. Start joking and doing that. And then I'll have the other side where the Spanish people they'll be talking crazy about me. And then and then Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: I have to respond in Spanish. And then they'd be like, too Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): you King Yohannes: español and all that Yes but I I've done quote for that. Cefore X. Plosives: wait, you had a hustle. King Yohannes: So so now I just Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): If nothing else, that that that's fuel to learn Spanish. Learn more than just one language so you can see when people talk a shit. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. And if a i as time went by put me in a different mindset with it, like I don't even address nobody no more when they when they say Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: things. I just be like, Yeah, you uneducated. So it's and then it's not gonna work Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, that's what it boils on to. King Yohannes: Yeah, it is not gonna work with me trying to te be the one to s to teach you 'cause you're already coming off disrespectful. Yeah, so yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Not my job. Not my job. And my little five minute cussing out session to cuss you out is not gonna undo the years and years of bullshit that you've been putting through your your your brain. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. Like I had a situation with my son with school, the last school he was in, and he was getting a little bullied and everything and I taught him, you know, don't let this happen, protect yourself. And you know, they they try to project it because he was the brown boy and then the white boy was the one that was bleeding and stuff. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: But I was like, it's a fifth grader versus someone that's in kindergarten. Make it make sense. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): What? Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: Yeah. So Yeah, that that that had happened and from then I've been home schooling him and everything. And and then but now he's back in school 'cause I like what everything going on with the music. I'm like, all right, buddy. I done trained you and toughen you up. I gotta put you back out there in the world. Cefore X. Plosives: You're ready. King Yohannes: he's been doing good. He he's gotten into a few fights, but It's more of him standing his ground and not letting no one bully him again. So I'm I I I would just have to which is what I'm working on now, w just another talk with him with when is the right time for stuff and not everything requires a reaction and stuff. So 'cause he's he's r Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Pick your battles. King Yohannes: yeah, he's really in defense mode based on his history of being bullied and stuff, so Now he older, he feels stronger, he feels like, yeah, nobody gonna say nothing to me, cause I'm gonna do this. And I'm like, no. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You got him in any classes like taekwondo or boxing or anything? King Yohannes: Yes, I had him in martial art class. I've taught him myself martial arts. my father was a very big name martial artist in New York. his is Earl Woodbury. he he he did a lot of work with Blade too he was on Telemundo back in the days with the sword chopping the cucumbers and stuff on people's necks and all that. He was on a lot he was on a lot of Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I wanna see. King Yohannes: yeah, he's been on a lot of those. Cefore X. Plosives: Ha ha ha. King Yohannes: he's fifteen time Hall of Fame martial artist and stuff. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Let's go. King Yohannes: So so Grandmaster and all that and Goju. he taught me, so whatever he taught me, I taught my son for what I can remember and stuff. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I have seen him. King Yohannes: Yeah, so that's my dad. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Hell yeah, son. I bet nobody picked on you when you were a kid. King Yohannes: No, but I I got into a lot of fights. So so Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: I got I got what what my son doing, that was me back then. So I got to not let him make the same mistakes. So everything Cefore X. Plosives: Tell King Yohannes: I learned I was using. Cefore X. Plosives: me how hard that is, man. Like, cause I got two kids, man. You you you you you try to you try to teach them and you know guide them and you know course correct and like cause you don't want them to do the things, go down the roads that you went through. You're trying to give them the shortcut and do it the right thing, right? But then again, it's like do you want to it's like all that stuff made you who you are. You know what I'm saying? So there's that there's that balance of like You don't wanna compromise them trying to gain that that understanding, you know what I'm saying? Like, King Yohannes: Right. Cefore X. Plosives: I don't want my kids to scrap, but I need the I need them to know how to scrap. You know what I'm saying? there's a lost art of throwing hands that's going on right here on the solo. You know what I'm saying? Everybody's trying to gang up on somebody, but there's something if there's something to be said about someone that's gonna go up and scr and and just straight throw hands. They're like, you can do that. I'm gonna back off. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's it. King Yohannes: Yeah, I I I highly recommend putting your children through training Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: and everything, 'cause that's my fear tool. It Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): It teaches them structure too. King Yohannes: teaches them structure, discipline, and then in the case of like how they do Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): When to throw King Yohannes: yeah, and like in a case like how these days are with kids jumping people, I'd rather my son be a highly skilled, registered hands boy that would just lay everybody out. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Exactly. King Yohannes: And and his footage that he was being attacked and he won't get as much trouble rather than him just 'cause I don't condone just stand there being a punching bag and everything. So it's like I sa so I will I would put my like I'm gonna put them in boxing and everything. I already taught them what I can with with martial arts and everything, but I like boxing and I'm gonna I'm gonna do it with them. So it's something I'm gonna do with them. And we all gonna do boxing together. We're gonna go do swimming, like, you know, 'cause all those things conditions your body and make you strong. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: So all all things to strengthen our children. I think that's very, very viable to do and everything. And if you're a parent that just not active like that, it it helps to do it 'cause it gets you healthy too. For Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah, for sure. King Yohannes: while you get your kids healthy. Yeah yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And like I always say, you have to put yourself in situations to see how you're going to react. How you know you like swimming if you haven't ever swum? Swam. How you know you like making beats if you don't ever sit there and learn how to play the drums, or you know, even if you don't like it, put yourself in that situation to figure out that you don't like it so you don't waste your time. Cefore X. Plosives: yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You know? Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah, my son wrestles, man, and he yo, it's it's a it's a different world, man. Like he changed his whole mindset. He knows how to deal with adversity, he knows how to deal with a loss. You know what I'm saying? Just like fundamentals, man, and like carton gas tank. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And at the end of the day, if you mess with them, we'll put your ass in a chokehold to put your ass to sleep. Cefore X. Plosives: You wanna put your face in the ground for a little bit and be like, All right, you done yet? You know, but it it's those life lessons that any any martial art or anything like any discipline like that will is is is a long game mentality, right? Like th those are the those are the life lessons you'll carry with you for forever. You know what I'm saying? And that's especially boxing too, man. I love boxing. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah, I I I like Boston 'cause I I feel like he would gain the strength he need. 'Cause I'm highly on the side of not having a long fight. It's if if you do it right, you hit him in the right spot, you you get you get to walk away from that s scot. Yeah. One Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Flash that jab out there, bleep, and see how many arguments you win with just that one that one King Yohannes: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): flick. Flap. Cefore X. Plosives: You you could tell King Yohannes: Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: just about the way they square up. Are they squaring up or are they doing some throwing some haymaker windmill type? Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Even if they square up, if if you have a nice jab and you throw it out there quick as shit, it will scare people. You will get the the fight is over and all you did was check that chin. King Yohannes: Yeah. All you g all you gotta do is stunt on one good time. Yeah, stun on one good time and they'll they'll st they'll pause for a minute. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: You want some too? Nope. King Yohannes: Yeah. That's when you get to have the conversation Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Yep. Cause I got more. I'm King Yohannes: with them. You still want to do this? Right. Cefore X. Plosives: I'm giving you an out right now. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): just I'm checking. Hell King Yohannes: Right. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah, dude. Were your parents Cefore X. Plosives: Alright, so Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): supportive of like were they like this where they they they're like checking to see what you were good at and kind of pushed you in that direction? King Yohannes: yeah, the they knew I like music. My dad always played music as he was doing the martial arts stuff, so I used to always be like right at his side when I was little watching him play, touching the keyboard. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. How's your dad? King Yohannes: he is sixty he was sixty, he's not no longer here with us. But but he passed over during the COVID situation. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That sucks. I'm sorry. King Yohannes: but he's sixty no, he should be seventy-two now. His birth his birthday just passed Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Okay. King Yohannes: on the thirteenth. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Cause I'm trying to listen I'm trying to I'm trying to picture the the music that he would be vibing to. King Yohannes: He it was of a l a lot of soulful reggae style Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: music. He would do a lot of Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Did he grow up in New York too, in Bronx? King Yohannes: yes, but he's originally from South Carolina and then he moved out to New York. Yeah, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Okay. King Yohannes: and then that's when he met my mom. My mom moved out here to to New York from Panama. So and then I don't Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Like like all our people do. Yeah, yeah, yeah. King Yohannes: Yeah. So how I don't remember the exact story how they met, but at some point they they linked up and they created the yeah, the minions. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And it worked. They created the king, baby. Cefore X. Plosives: Hey. A so this Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, because sorry, I just wanted I I Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah, yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I like painting the picture of of music so people get a good understanding of like the vibes, right? So like back in their times they're listening to all this music that had to do with love and and this is back when like this is gonna sound crazy as shit, but this is back when like you're holding hands and and you know, like Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That got you all nervous and shit. Like these days, everything is fucking booty flapping and you know, and crack my back and all kinds of stuff and King Yohannes: Yeah, that that was the picnic in the park days. Yeah. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Yeah. People have respect. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. It's wicked nowadays. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah, you can't send that booty call out back then. Yeah, y you get their mom to answer the phone like, Who is this? Or their dad, you know what I'm saying? Like you can't you can't make that call. King Yohannes: Right. Yeah, you can actually parents can they come out? Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You ain't talking to that fast ass girl. What? King Yohannes: Right. That is Cefore X. Plosives: But King Yohannes: that yep. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That is why no but I love it because back like how when we were growing up we were listening to the Al Greens, we're listening to the Earth Window Fires, we're listening to the Early Prince, we're listening to Lou Rawls. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And I can listen to Lou Rawls shit and j just like just hit play and let it ride. I can't tell you today's contemporary Lou Rawls. I just It's not Cefore X. Plosives: No, that goes back to what we were saying, man. Like they just don't make music like that. King Yohannes: Yeah, there's not timeless music being made like that no more. I and I like I told Kane, me and Kane was sitting down talking one day and we I was making beats with him and we was talking about we was having talking about this topic and I was like I wanna bring that back but I gotta get in the game to do what I need to do first. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: Cause I was like The blueprint is there for us to do timeless music. It's just no one is doing it that way 'cause everybody wants the w the shortcut route. There's no one Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: doing live musicians, getting them in the studio. They working on it. Sometime they in there twelve hours, twenty four hours in there and they they playing. And all of that is feeling, chemistry. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: networking, building relationships and all that. And there's everybody has the same goal love for music and they're ultimately having fun doing it. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: And it is still work, but they everybody was if you look at how back in the days when Michael Jackson showed when they did We Are the World and Prince doing this Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: thing, they was happy. They was enjoying making music. And that's to me is the blueprint of how you make Thomas music because every song that they did is still being played to this day. So it's like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): It's the same, it's the same phenomenon. Like when you're on a basketball team and everybody is clicking and you've played good together so many games, it's just like it's just like a symphony because you know he's gonna be there, you know he's gonna be there, everybody knows you're gonna do like this, and everybody sets up. Same thing with the band. You know when the trumpet player is gonna hit. You know when the xylophone Cefore X. Plosives: Everybody Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): is gonna go nuts. Cefore X. Plosives: Everybody plays a part and they're and they're and they're grateful to play the part, to be a part of that like that. Everybody. And there's Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Everybody wants to be there. Yeah. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. I believe I believe that's how timeless music is to be made and stuff. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: Like it gotta have that that element in there. And that sound. Cefore X. Plosives: And and you c and like when a lot when a lot of these people are are going to the computer and they're just like they're AI in it or Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): What is that, Suno or whatever? Cefore X. Plosives: Suno, you know what I'm saying? Or like they're it's it's is there and then don't get me wrong, there's nothing there's nothing wrong with like grinding, just grinding and doing doing you you Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: know go going going to your page and grabbing beats and just writing and then just doing your thing, right? And a lot of people don't have a budget for singers or musicians or whatever. They're just in a spot where they're they're in no man's land, right? But like again it goes back to like investing into like what you love to do. Right. And then s you you make you make timeless things when you when you invest your time. Right. There's no there's no other way to do it. You just gotta put in the work. And like when you're taking shortcuts for things that it's like art Carlos Well art, like if you just chat G B T something and then you know what I'm saying? Or like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Yeah. Like imagine imagine saying that you're a ra a rapper and you have Chat GPT write your bars. Cefore X. Plosives: Just 'cause he got a s just 'cause he got a good voice. You know what I'm saying? Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): What? King Yohannes: Right. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And it's not even and it's not even that you can't use the words like it do what you want to do, but King Yohannes: Don't claim it as yours if you didn't Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): It y don't claim it as yours. Yeah. King Yohannes: That that's been my argument. Cefore X. Plosives: And then he won't get paid for it. King Yohannes: That's my that's been my argument with with the AI, with p a lot of producers and artists. I'm not against the use of it, but I do, like you say, a lot of artists they just can't afford the session players and all that. And it's unrealistic for you to learn all these things by yourself 'cause if that's Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: the case, I'll be doing bass, piano, drums and trumpet at the same time. But unrealistic Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And getting yelled at by your wife 'cause your kid is getting beat up and you're over here messing around with all these goddamn instruments. King Yohannes: Yeah. So like like I get it where life is life and you just can't make it happen. So I I say like like Suno and stuff like that. That should be used as a tool 'cause how I see it, that is your online session player. That's your digital session player. Whatever you need. Now you could either prompt it Or you could play the notes just like any other musician does for the producers. You play the notes and if it's the notes that you wanna play and you want it to go better, you run it through Suno and you tell it what you want it to do. And if it plays it the way you imagine it, take it out, put it right back in your doll. Boom, you get it. You got it. But don't don't prompt I wanna hip hop soul soul be and then it just Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And do the voice for me. King Yohannes: Yeah, and then and then make the song about this topic and then they just give you a whole lyric and a beat and then you Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Yeah. King Yohannes: just say, I did that. Cefore X. Plosives: Hey, hey, make me a song that sounds like King Johannes and write me some bars that sound like Inspector Deck. You know what I'm saying? King Yohannes: Right. That Yeah, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Yeah. King Yohannes: like you don't do that. Now I've done things where I've because I still I don't rap actively but I've still been like lately been writing. So I've been writing like songs and I'll make a certain beat and I'm like, huh. I need a artist for this. Let me use these vocals as a reference to who I want to touch Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: this to and I will write my lyrics, tell it in there, prompt it right in there, and it would it would rap my lyrics that I put in there. I think that's how it should be done. But just to just take someone sixteen off the off a prompt that you didn't write, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Yeah. King Yohannes: I'm like, nah. Or just to take Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, like in software, in software there's a a stage that's called vaporware. It's basically just your idea. Like I'm gonna have this software that plays a harmonica every time I tap three times, whatever, whatever the software is. Then they make a pretty box, but they design it in Photoshop and stuff like that. And they get enough of the material together to where they can go somewhere to sell the idea. That part I get. That part I get leveraging something like a Suno to be like, yo, even What was it? A couple years ago now, I did I did my one song. and I had a studio session, and he said, Do you have a reference track? That's how you can leverage something. I'm assuming that's how you can leverage something like a sudo. You go somewhere and be like, Yo, King, this is my idea. Don't touch any, don't touch any of the buttons on this goddamn board because we're gonna get yelled at. But can we do this? King Yohannes: Right. Right. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Right? I can see it working like that. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: It is a good way to get the idea out of your mind. King Yohannes: Yeah. It's the perfect way to get the idea out of your mind. And then if you the safest way for like how I do it, if I really don't wanna use the files from the suno stuff, I've met enough musicians that I could just, hey you know, can we do this or can you look out for me or how much does it cost? Can you work with me? I really got this idea. 'Cause people that are creatives, that love doing it, that have fun, sometimes they really don't have a issue with doing it and everything. Now again, that doesn't mean pay them for their service 'cause everybody doesn't just do it 'cause they love it. A lot of them do it 'cause they love it and they would like to get paid for what they do. So I I gotta respect that too, 'cause I I've grown to be like that too. now because I use I originally was just doing it because I love music. But then it got to a point where I was just working a lot, making a lot of beats for a lot of people. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: And I was like, yeah, I I need to start getting paid. Like this this cause then I started learning the music bills. There's music bills in being a producer. And and Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: and and even more as an audio engineer, Pro Tools is not cheap. Cefore X. Plosives: No. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: It's not easy to use either. Like King Yohannes: Yeah, it's but about it that that too is not easy to use, it's complicated, it's very technical, and it's ridiculously expensive. Cefore X. Plosives: Gotta get that subscription now. They King Yohannes: Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: got you now. They give you got a subscription. I'm like, man, I came back on Pro Tools after a couple years. I'm like, I got my I got hmm? Yeah. Yeah. I was like, No. King Yohannes: They got a subscription now? They They didn't do they didn't have that when I was graduating. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: You get the ILOC, you do the thing, and then the next thing you know, you got it. And then I was like, okay. King Yohannes: Cool. 'Cause I know I know mine's about to expire soon and I've been trying to figure that out. So subscription it is Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Yeah. I tried to update, there's no firmware update. King Yohannes: to to I I I get it outright. I I think they do that Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. And you know what? King Yohannes: too. A lot of these companies do it where you don't you can't buy it out outright to own it. Because Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: 'cause once you buy it out, they figured it out though. Once you buy it outright, Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: then they're not making no more money off of it. So they have to do subscription. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: And that's just like movie companies, right? They don't you y you make it they make it impossible, like D V Ds, everything's on stream, you only own it for temporary if you get it online, you know, they make it all so you have nothing tangible. You know what I'm saying? King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah, they doing that they doing that with the PlayStation now too, I assume. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): About to lose their money too. King Yohannes: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Isn't it crazy? Like, folks don't understand. Sony trips over themselves all the time. Like, King Yohannes: Mm-hmm. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): back in the day, beta was technically better than VHS, but Sony jumped on bullshit, and that's why they VHS took them over. From what I understand, the porn industry was like, okay, fuck you guys then. They went to VHS and it was a wrap. Yeah. Sony just continues to trip over there. They have superior stuff, but they get greedy or they make some foolish decision and then they j the bottom falls out and the PlayStation King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): is the next one watch. King Yohannes: Yeah, it is. They talking about every month if you're not active they'll revoke your games and license regardless if you paid for it. I'm like I'm like, so you mean to tell me Cefore X. Plosives: Man. Could you imagine you pay a hundred Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. What if I'm Cefore X. Plosives: and Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): on punishment for six weeks, bitch? Like Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah I'm not grounded. Can't play King Yohannes: Right. Cefore X. Plosives: GTA six when it comes out. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Whenever it comes about. King Yohannes: Yeah, that the way they doing it is crazy. I'm like, that's wow. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: So they Cefore X. Plosives: And you're paying a hundred dollars for that. Like King Yohannes: And the games is getting more expensive. At this point, I'm like, I might Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Uh-huh. King Yohannes: w just go PC. And I n I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Do you know? King Yohannes: never was a PC player. I used to make fun of the PC players. I used to call them cheaters. I was like, I guess I'm Cefore X. Plosives: Right. King Yohannes: gonna be a cheater then. I'm about to go grab me a computer too. Right. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Yeah, I went to I went to Illinois Institute of Art and we had a computer lab there full of PCs and we would load up Quake and Call of Duty, all the things. maybe not call nah, I I think so. Anyway, and we'd have like 20 people in one lab and another 20 in another lab, and everybody was like fighting with everybody, just like straight up gay. this is great times. We'd order pizza. I mean King Yohannes: Right. Right. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Thank you. King Yohannes: Sound like back in the days the way when you say pizza, when New York I used to go to the pizza shop and they used to have the Marl vs. Catcom arcade. I used to go there and play Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Yeah. King Yohannes: that all the time. We used to waste all our quarters. Yep. Yep. Those those what Cefore X. Plosives: Though a lot of mug. A lot of money. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, yeah. My mom was addicted to Miss Pac-Man when that shit came out. Boy, that in Galaga, she was addicted. Cefore X. Plosives: Onko se olla maailma myös päivä monessa ideessä, että se on aika lailla? I'll still own in there. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): She was cute, that little bow, she was rocking that bow. King Yohannes: Right. Where Cefore X. Plosives: All right, King, I gotta I gotta ask you, man. So I'm in West Palm at the Wu Tang concert. And Wu Tang is killing it. I I Bone Thugs and Harmony opened up for him and I saw I opened up for them I wanna say it was twelve years ago when I first moved down to Florida. And all five members were there and it was dope. And then and then they do their thing, bone breaks up, they're all sometimes you get three, sometimes you get four, you know, all five were there last Wednesday. Shit was love. They said they they they man, if they were if they were the only acts there, I would have been happy. You know what I'm saying? Then Wu Tang comes out. And I seen Wu Tang when they had when they're on tour with Nas and Buster Rhimes join them, and that was dope too. But this there was something different about this concert, man. like the level, like they they were all there, man. And Riza did his thing, and then and then the next thing you know, I heard I heard this joint. Spectre Deck is out there, and I was like There's a video. There's my guy King. On this jumbotron. And Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm. Cefore X. Plosives: I'm going bananas, bro. What what well first, what is it? I mean you could ask answer that a afterwards, like how you got linked up. But what what is it like to know that they're on this historic tour right now? Knowing that your joint is playing all over the country, like and your face is just there on stage. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Just big as hell back there. King Yohannes: Yeah. It it's Cefore X. Plosives: And on this left. King Yohannes: it's still I'm s I'm still processing it. Like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: I've I've I've prayed on it when it happened and the video dropped and I was like, this is and then they showed the video, I said, This is gonna be dope. And then just talking to the guys that's at Park Hill when we did the video shoot, they was You sound like one of us and then I was joking around, I was like, Yeah, I am. I was like, I was one of the lost babies in one of the chambers and stuff. I was Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: like, I found my way out and y'all found me by the beats like that. And we joked around, but then as I got back home Like to myself thinking to God I was like, God, I what if this gets played on stages like big? Like like if this is meant to happen, you know, let it happen for me. I I'm grateful. Yeah. I said just make sure Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Let me be ready. Yeah. Yeah. King Yohannes: I'm prepared. If I'm prepared for this, let this happen. And then I seen they was doing a tour and I was like, huh. 'Cause I was told that he was about to do tour, but it it wasn't never told that he was gonna be performing any of the records. Cause I thought it was just gonna be only the Wu Tang stuff. So I put it in the universe and to God I say, God, I hope what if they play that in the in the in the in the tour? Like they just start playing the record at the tour. So that'll be dope. And then I started seeing them post and playing. And then someone's like, they played your record. And I'm like, Huh? And then the artist side of law, he he they did it and he went on stage with that. And then I said, snap. They on tour And I was like d and I I'm like shocked. Like I'm like, you know, God said, Ask when you shall receive. So I'm that's going in my head, like, Did that really just happen? So I'm Still starstruck about the whole thing. I'm like, snap. This is really going down. This is happening. They performing it live. The next place they go in is Charlotte. I'm going to be there. I Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: was already gonna buy a ticket. I had a ticket that was gonna be right there center in the front. It was like $108. I was like, I'm about to buy this ticket. I wanna be right there when it happened. Cause I was like, I didn't get to speak the deck or nothing. I don't know if I'm gonna be. in the mix Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: or on stage two and all that. So I was like, I don't know how it works. This is my first time experiencing all this. But I'ma buy my ticket. Right when I was about to buy my ticket, Dak calls and says, yo, I got your situation straight for tomorrow. You just get your ticket at Wheel Call. Sound like even better. So then when they came and they did it, I went to Wheel Call. Will Call I actually forgot my band. I was supposed to have stats, passes to go backstage, be around them and all that. I only have my ticket. But God works in mysterious ways. Cefore X. Plosives: Amen. King Yohannes: Where I was sitting in my seat, to the left of me was Ghostface, I believe Ghostface or one of the members, family members on the left. And on the right was Inspector Deck's brother, cousin and all of them. So I didn't know this and I was like, yo, yeah they was like, okay, they were there, yeah, we here to see Spectre Deck and all that. I yeah, cool, that's what's up. It was like, Yeah, you here to see see them too? I was like, Yeah. I said, I actually I'm here with them. Yeah, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I'm here to see my song. King Yohannes: I was like I produced Shall and Rebel. He was like, yeah I Yeah, he told me to go backstage after the show. So they like he was like, so then I showed him the phone and then he looks at the phone, he looks at the number, and he said, yeah, that's my brother. So I was like, wait, you his brother? He was like, Yeah. And then he was like, don't worry about it, we'll we'll take care of you, bro. You if you with us and you seen the you Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah. King Yohannes: gonna come with us. Like that. So then we that's when we I got clusterphobic. And then I walked off. And then right when I walked off, I heard the song playing. I heard the intro and everything. And I'm like, my God. I tried I run back. They show me on the screen. The lady trying to stop me, 'cause you know when you get back in you gotta show your ticket and your seat. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, yeah, yeah. King Yohannes: So I'm like, It's my seat, it's my that's my beat right there. I'm trying to catch it. Yeah, that's me. So then they look. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's me that's my face on the wall. King Yohannes: And then everybody else that see me running look and look at me and they're like, King Your Highness and they start taking pictures with me. So I never made it to record that clip when he performed it. But after the fact I got everything else. When the show was done, I went back there, met up with Dak and everything we dapped it up. And I was like, Yeah, I can't believe this is still happening. I I got the witness and see Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, dude. King Yohannes: thousands of people just rocking out, just seeing everybody nod their head to the beat. And it was even Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: greater cause it was like the beat was playing, but the band was playing the beat so perfectly. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah. King Yohannes: And then they had the singers that was singing it the exact way I had the vocalists do it. And Cefore X. Plosives: Yes. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Hell yeah. King Yohannes: I was like, this is awesome. I was like this. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah. King Yohannes: And I was grateful 'cause I I've I've been having a lot of like naysayers along my journey. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: And they would say certain stuff, like I used to do producer shows, showcase for like the producer lounge. I would go there and perform name Richmond, Virginia, and everything. Shout out to Name Brand and Lady Cam. I go there. I b I got like three shows I did there so far. And I went recently. I did one And I do shows like that and they used to make fun of me. you doing these producer events for only ten, twenty people, don't nobody, and you doing these beat drinks for free and everyday and all that. And I was like I started realizing a lot of these people are like how we spoke about earlier, they end it for the material and the clout Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: and which is why when I commented on when you did the bars open challenge, I That's my way of giving back to the community 'cause a lot of these people don't communic connect with them, they don't talk with them and everything. And it's like I feel like these are the people that's getting us where we need to be. So it's only right that you get back to the community and be active with them and everything. 'Cause you don't know who you're giving hope to, who looking up to you, who admiring Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: your work, any of that any Cefore X. Plosives: Yep. King Yohannes: of that stuff and everything. So I did that, I do that all the time. I try to make sure I comment and tap in with everybody. I I pretty much tapped in with mostly almost everyone I seen that do the c the challenge and everything. Now some of the celebrity ones they done you know, some of them done that work with me. Some of them Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: we I haven't gotten a response yet or no email to work or do anything in the future. But you know, when the tight time comes, the right time comes for that. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: But I try to connect with everybody and just be active in there. But I had other people tell me, Don't do that. Only post the celebrities and everything. Don't post the people that's doing it. And I'm like, that's not fair. I was like, it's an open challenge to the world. So why would I not share everything that's doing it? So that's what I did and Kane posted him some of his stuff too and it was fair. We we made it fair and everything and everybody was rocking with it and stuff. So That turned it out really dope because I cause when that was going on I didn't it's been probably like eight weeks now It's been about eight weeks now since Bars Open Challenge has been out It slowed down a little bit there's still people still putting submissions here and there Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: But then I was like okay What's next? And then that's when Deck dropped the video and I said, snap, music videos out. Cool. And I was like, This is dope. So then I got to tell my cousins and them, cause they we were big, big Wu Tang fans. We listened to a lot of Wu Tang music and everything growing up. Played ball. My dad used to listen to a lot of it too. So I felt like I was accomplishing two things. One, I I'm producing the album for Big Daddy King and that's Cefore X. Plosives: Is that a hard off depresses? Let me write that down. King Yohannes: Yeah the yeah, I'm producing Big Daddy King's final album, Curtain Call. I don't have a date when it's dropping, but that's I produced this whole album and then the Inspector Deck record came out. He dropped his album. So I was like, This is dope. I'm on Dragon's Breath. I got one on on on there. Cefore X. Plosives: You got two joints on there, right? One? Okay. King Yohannes: and that one That one was specifically for him, that beat. Cause 'cause when I made it, they was like, yo, this sounds like some Wu-Tang stuff and everything. So how how it got to him was through me working with Sia Law. So me and Sia Law, we have a album out called Lumos. I produced the whole album on there. And then There's a song called Ilion on that album. And Deck was like, who made this beat? And everything. This shouldn't be crazy. So then one of the guys that's with Side Law ran on the beat. He's part of Arsenal Enterprise. And he called me, put me on Face on FaceTime. It was like on WhatsApp or something like that. He called me. He was like, I got someone that wanna meet you. So I'm looking, I'm looking at the guy. I'm like He looked familiar. He like, yo, the beat is dope. He's like, Yeah, this is a respect of deck. He liked the he liked that beat you did facade. So I'm like, that's dope. He was like, Yeah, I I I had, I'm trying to find the clip. Cause what I was gonna do was I had a clip because when I spoke to when he pulled up on screen, I instantly hit screen record. I said, There's no way I'm gonna end this path. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: I said, I'll screen recording this whole thing. This how we met, I'm screen recording it. So I I I gotta find the video Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: though. It's him saying like that's bionics, the beat is dope, bro. I got we gotta lock in. This dan a third, and they around like I think he was around Methuman and them, so they was like listening to my music. So I was like, huh, that's dope. Like my music being heard amongst greats and everything. So I was like, this is cool. some time passed, I sent them probably like five or six beats. Cause at the same time I was still working on the beats for Big Daddy King for the album. So I was trying to be in like different lanes musically at the same time. So I got that done. He was rocking with it, and then I sent them the Charlotte Rebel beat. And he was like, Yeah, this is crazy. And everything. He was like, yo, we need somebody on the hook. Who do you hear on the hook? So I I had a lot Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: of names. But I was like w we go by this thing with Silo and his team. One hand wash the other, the other wash the face. We all look out for each other and everything. So Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's the way you get through it. King Yohannes: Yeah, so when he was asking me who I hear on there for a hook on or anything, I was like, put Silo on there. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: That's love, man. King Yohannes: I was like, shoot, w w He connected us and we both rocked with his lyrics. Why not why not? I was like, it was a person. I had other names, but it was like, why not tell Side to do it? And everything. So Sad did the hook and he came out. So then everything was the way it was. And then Dex sent it back to me with the the the t the traditional Wu-Tang sound in the beginning of it. It we had so many different versions. And I was like, this sounds dope. He was like, yeah, I don't know if we're gonna use this or we're gonna use that one. And then the one that he used, I was like. That's fire. I said because you go by Johannes and I go by Johannes. So I was like, that could be my tag name for both of us at the same time Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: at the beginning the song. So then Cefore X. Plosives: I agree. King Yohannes: he did it and then I heard it and I I've been bumping that record in private so many times. Cefore X. Plosives: I bet. King Yohannes: Said everything. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Flash back to everybody saying, Will you stop rapping? King Yohannes: Right. Right. Right. And I'm like, Dan, this is dope. This is dope. And then the whole time I'm like, when is it gonna drop I I'm hitting deck up. Yo, Dick, when were you dropping the record? When's this 'cause he had a lot going on 'cause you know he's he's inspected deck for Wu Tang and then he's got his o own thing going on. and then he got the czar face joint too. So Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah, that was a banger too. King Yohannes: Yeah, so I was like, Alright, he got a lot going on. He's super busy and then I don't wanna be that producer that keep hounding the person down. When is this and when is that and you know so I was like, Alright, I'm gonna just be patient. Then I started hearing from other producers that had the moments and stuff that, you know, it takes time, stop worrying about it. When you forget about it, it's gonna drop. And then I was like, all right, I was like, Well, they probably gonna do their music video and I probably won't catch whiff of it yet, so I'm like, huh? He hit and then I get a message like July. It was in July, like the twenty third. He was like, I need you to come out to New York. We to shoot the video for Shall and the Rebel. I'm like, That's in three days. So Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Clear my schedule. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Be right there. King Yohannes: I I did whatever I can. I sold as many beats as I could. I I got my money up. I booked my flight, went out there. I I was trying to get but I learned even with this, I was trying to get like family members and friends to come out to be there in the music Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: video. I couldn't get no one to pull to pull up. So I was like, Where are ya? I'm like Yeah, I'm like, Where are you? I'm great. I'm like, I I'm Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's what's wild. Yeah. Like come eat, damn it. Cefore X. Plosives: Should have hit me up though. King Yohannes: doing something big, y'all need to be here. I didn't none of them was there, but I I I've learned that that was my time. So it was for me to be there or and networking Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: and everything 'cause if I was around my peoples I probably wouldn't have been focusing on trying to really lock in and build relationships with everybody else that was there. So Yeah. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: You would have been a fan, you know what I'm saying? Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's a very important point to make. That's an that's a lesson. King Yohannes: Yeah. So I learned I was like, okay, not everybody's meant to be there that I would prefer to be there with me in situations like that and everything. But it was dope. And I was like, alright, I got there, we did the video shoot. So just seeing it from there, wondering where I was gonna go after and seeing it and there and then as they doing the tour, like after they left Charlotte and I sat down and I thought about it, I was taking the Uber back home. And the guy was like, how did you enjoy the tour? I was like, yeah. I was like, yeah, I produced one of the records. He said, what? He was like, the new one inspected deck did? He was like, which one? The Day in the Life or Charlotte Rebel? I nah, the Day in the Life is is on P.A. Dre. I said, the Shaylant Rebel is me. He was like, man. He said, look, it'd be show it was just on his playlist. He said, I be listening to that joint all the time. I'm Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: gonna do a post about that too, 'cause I got a bunch of people posting so I'm gonna play it and then I'm gonna you know how they do the post when they it just shows different people's reactions? I'ma do one like that. But he was like, Yeah, I listen to that joint all the time. You the producer, I was like, Yeah. He was like, This is dope. And he was like, You do you realize and I didn't realize this at first. He was like, not only did you produce for a legend, because I told him about the Big Daddy King thing too. He said Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: not only did you got that, and right after that you got the inspect the deck record on the album, do you realize that you produced for a rock and roll Hall of Fame in Ducky? Cefore X. Plosives: Mm. King Yohannes: 'Cause they just got inducted. And he was like, That's Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: No. King Yohannes: big. He said, he said, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's so sick. King Yohannes: he said with what you did with the bars open challenge and then dropping Shayland Rubber with k with Dak to it being where they at now, he was like, That is crazy. So then I I really started thinking about it and I've been just sitting back like just like that. I really I really did that and stuff. So it's still been an emotional roller coaster for me with it. Cause it's like it's still a lot of mixed emotion. Everything is still fresh. So Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: I've been I've been having my moments where I cry and like thank God and you know, I appreciate it. You know. then I have my moments where I I'm just like pinching myself just to see if this is still happening. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Ha ha. King Yohannes: So is that Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Boy, it's powerful when dreams come true, ain't it? King Yohannes: Yes. Cefore X. Plosives: You're you're walking that line where you you gotta enjoy the moment but you gotta keep pushing. Right? You gotta keep cooking. Like you like there's like man, you you can sit there and marinate in it, but you you can't push so hard when you forget like you have to enjoy the moment. You know what I'm saying? But it it all goes back to like sowing seeds, man. Do you know what I'm saying? You're so you're out there you're out there sowing seeds, doing doing what's true to your heart, man, and you're making music for people and you're putting people on and you you you're making you're like When I make a joint, if I had a if I had a joint by by King, I'd like a lot of that doesn't get any better for some people. You know what I'm saying? And for you it might be another joint, which is cool. You're making you that's what you do. But you're you're mak you're making you're making monumental moments for people, right? Just by just by blessing them. and a as you sow seeds, though you're you're gonna they harb they start to harvest. You know how the Lord works, man. And he prepared you to be a sanctuary. You know what I'm saying? So like all all that come all that start it's start all starting the the harvest for you man all at the same time and and you you will get that roller coaster man and enjoy that ride you know what I'm saying love it and then and then like when it when it drops to your pit of your stomach and it's in your it's in your throat man you know enjoy that too man and then and then you're gonna go through that when the Kane album drops, you know I'm saying? Cause you know he's gonna cook. You know what I'm saying? You know there's Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That one's gonna be outrageous. That one, boy. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah that's Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I was telling you before we hit record. I'm saying this real quick, and then you can and then you can talk because I know we keep cutting you off. But Kane was instrumental in baby Carlos's life. He was one of the first shit talkers. I was like, this motherfucker here. It just seems like he always put foot to ass and he always had that respect. So like it's it's Baby Los is just looking at you like giving you all the high fives right now, kid. King Yohannes: I know my mom and pops, they huge fans of him. So Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: my mom when when me and him met, I was kinda scared to approach him. 'Cause like you say, he got that that foot tap Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): He's that dude. King Yohannes: and he and his face expressions, it look like don't play. Like Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: I I'll smack the crap out of you. Yeah, yeah, you know, ass Cefore X. Plosives: And you'll have step in there. King Yohannes: happen. Right. So but He he he kept looking and he looked at me and he just was peeping like I could peep that he was peeping me out. But then he like, Where you from? And I'm like, from the Bronx and then he just starts laughing. And then he like I like, why? 'Cause you know, a lot of girls don't don't r typically respect the Bronx. They always sh shit talk the Bronx. And so Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: I thought that's where it was going. And he was like, You don't talk like you from the Bronx. It was like usually y'all owning like y'all the capital of New York and this that and third. And then I'm like, Well technically then I start singing the song. If it wasn't for the Bronx like that So then he did he laughing up. Cefore X. Plosives: There it is. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Hell yeah. King Yohannes: Then we was in LA, so then I got the UX. I got to play a few beats for him. And that's how that locked in with him, like off of what I was playing Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah. King Yohannes: and everything. Wait. That's gonna be that's Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I can't wait. King Yohannes: gonna be crazy. And then I I got some more stuff with that coming too and everything, but I I had the I did live in the moment for a while, like just marinating in it. But as I was marinating Cefore X. Plosives: Uh-huh. King Yohannes: in it I was also neglecting everybody else that was hitting me up wanting to work. So as of now I'm I'm playing catch up 'cause I'm like I I now I gotta scroll back weeks to the people that said they wanted to get beats from me. And kick back 'cause as all of this was going on, the reason of that is cause I had a big health scare. Like the when everything happened musically for me, I I had like a a weird situation where my heart was just moving weird. So they put me on the heart monitor and the doctors was checking me and ran the tests and everything. And I got everything back by like after the day after the the tour when they was in Charlotte. and everything I got my test results back that nineteenth and it was like hey there's nothing wrong with you And it was like everything Yeah, it was Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You're just excited. King Yohannes: like everything's fine and everything I was like okay 'cause they I was concerned but I was in my head a lot and everything. So I don't know what that was, but I f I didn't feel good and it had me sitting down for weeks. So I was going through that and then just was like I healthy diet, I changed my diet, I started eating healthier, getting rest and everything 'cause a lot Yeah, a lot of us producers don't get rest. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): it boy. That's important. That's important because how how are you gonna put in all this work and then and then you're not even healthy enough to enjoy it. King Yohannes: Yeah, exactly. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: Yeah. I I started getting cussed Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You know, you have to think big picture. King Yohannes: I started getting cussed out by Kane. And everything I'll s I'll s I'll be working on beats super sick. I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: I sent him a beat and he like and I'll bet your Kane I just sent you some beats. He like, Loop brother I wanna I care about your health. Let me know your health is okay. I don't wanna hear no beats right now, bro. And then he listened he'll go back and listen to Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Catch your breath. King Yohannes: it. And he'd be like, But that shit fire, King. Like that. So I I I'll I started locking in on that. He he sent me some stuff to stay healthy. He sent me like Sarasop and I was doing that and I did what I had to do to stay healthy and everything. So now I feel like I'm back, I'm like at a hundred percent. So I've been like actively banging out a lot of beats and everything. I'm working on my own project that I s I have two projects that I'm working on. I'm gonna work on the instrumental project where it's just a couple of beats Just me just being creative, just weird, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Vibe. King Yohannes: yeah, vibing, put that out, and then I have another one I'm doing where I'ma have selective artists that I pick to rap on there and I'm basically gonna produce the whole thing, like produce the records and everything and tell them my idea and see what they could pitch and everything. But I also wanna leave room for them to be creative too on there and everything and make it fair for everybody. But I got those two things. I don't have a name for those yet, but I'm nearly halfway done with the beats for those. Cefore X. Plosives: I've checked my embarked. King Yohannes: Yes, definitely. Cefore X. Plosives: Ha ha ha. King Yohannes: Gotcha. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Look at him plugging. Cefore X. Plosives: I was playing. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Do you have a do you have a set creative process to get the wheels rolling or you just wait for the time and you see what shows up? Like for example for example, like when I'm drawing, I have to go through like some warm-up sketches just to get my my brain and my body into that frame of mind. And then I'm like, all right, cool. And then like depending if I'm front of in front of the TV, watching TV, I'll start drawing the characters on TV just to get into that mind state. Do you do anything like that? King Yohannes: for for me. No Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Or you just get lifted and jump in the and jump in the studio. King Yohannes: Nah, so everybody I I I have accepted how people said this about me. When I make music it's stuff that's already like up here. 'Cause Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. King Yohannes: like up here I'm consistently Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Constantly thinking about it. King Yohannes: Yeah, it's like different beats being made all the time. And everything I might Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: The inner child is like this. King Yohannes: yeah, I might forget like the sound or how I do a little bit, but then when I play something, it would click and then I'm like, yeah, I was supposed to Then I start making beats. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. There it is. Yeah. King Yohannes: So it'd be like that, 'cause like my wife and every all my friends and they make fun of and they'd be like, You don't know anything outside of music. And I was like, You're right. They was like, You you Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Correct. King Yohannes: like you see signs and and the signs is just music notes and everything. And then I I had to really sit back and think about I said, You're right. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: I was like, I I know math, I know I'm good and I graduated. So I was like, I got I got my but Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. I got that in the bag, but King Yohannes: Yeah, I say yeah, my my full understanding in life and everything is music. I like I translate everything Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: through music and stuff. So they that Cefore X. Plosives: And King Yohannes: when I make music is it's like something that's already there. Or if I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: take too long to make it, like if I go on a trip and I don't bring my equipment with me, it would it would egg me on Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah, yeah. King Yohannes: that I can't do it. So I'm like I can't wait to get back home and make this beat 'cause it's bugging me right here. And everything it's it's like it's like it's good music. It comes out good music. But in your head in my head, the best way to explain it is like an annoying ringtone. And it it just keeps Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: going off and it don't it don't stop until you actually how I call it give it life. You actually create it. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Exactly. King Yohannes: And everything. So that's what I be doing. Yeah, that's my whole process. I don't have a set way where if I start with drums or instruments first. It just whatever hits sometime it's drums first if I catch the rhythm of what I'm trying to do. But majority of the time it's usually just off the feeling what type of vibe I'm in. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: That's what's up. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): C four, you're gonna ask something? Cefore X. Plosives: no, I my guy was making fun of because I had made a I had made a post when when our guy Bernard Taylor was running or something like that about voting, right? He was running for Congress down here. And then I had put a beat behind it just to to liven it up, whatever. And he goes, You I thought you were freestyling. So like I tend to speak in a cadence, you know what I'm saying? Like I have always had like this Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: this cadence and It seems like every every four sentences it has a as a as a punchline, you know what I'm saying? Not intentional or something, you know what I'm saying? But that's that's that's kinda how like you say how your mind is working, like this ringtone and I'm always on a this this cadence when I'm talking or when I the way I process things in my head and whatever and I don't have a process either. Like it's just it is either I have an idea or I it it's I I kinda find it hard for me to just go to a paper and look at it and then create something. Like I have to have something like tied into it at the moment, you know what I'm saying? Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: Or an idea that that won't get out of my head. You know what I'm saying? So King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. And then a lot of stuff lately been based off of just life life in for me. And, you know, I don't know if y'all into like the Pisces horoscope thing to absorb how you know Pisces absorb energy and all that. I really do believe and feel that so I be going through stuff and then I just literally just pour all my emotions and all the music and stuff Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: and Yeah, that's that's the excuse me. Usually my process when I'm making the music just going going for it. Cefore X. Plosives: And that life that life process too, man, is like you can't make you couldn't make probably the rebel joint ten years ago. Cause you haven't been through you haven't you haven't walked that journey yet. You haven't you haven't walked and and and gathered those tools yet, you know, those experiences. You know what I'm saying? Like I I talk about I did Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm. Cefore X. Plosives: a a track for church. Ten years ago, I never would have wrote a track for church because I wouldn't know how to do it. You know what I'm saying? You just just about God. Like and like you you don't and until until life hits you with something, you gather inspiration out of it. you really can't like you can make it, but like it just it means a lot more when you because you when you when you go back and say, listen to the beat that you made, you're like, I know I was going through this. King Yohannes: Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: And that's your therapy process too. You know what I'm saying? Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's important for folks that want to get into the creative, whether it's music, whether it's whatever, get away from technology. Because if you are quiet, you can hear, you can, and you can hear God telling you, God, Cefore X. Plosives: Mm. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): you take that term for however you want to take it. But God gives Cefore X. Plosives: Take the wheel. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): you these little hints and these little pushes in life. But we're so stuck on the phone, like flipping and doing like this and doing like that. Go take your beat machine and go somewhere. If you're an artist, take your paper and your pencils, go somewhere, unplug and watch how your memories come back and watch how these stories come back and watch how these beats come back. And you're able to be like, all right, cool. So then that way when you go in the studio, you already know what you're doing. And if it's not your studio, if you're renting the studio, boy, it's a lot cheaper if you know what you're building. King Yohannes: Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Hundred percent. King Yohannes: Yeah that's facts. Yeah I'm actually looking Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. So like technology is Cefore X. Plosives: No. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): cool, but go out there and experience your life and and report on that. King Yohannes: facts. 'Cause those those are facts. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Hey King, how many how many people do you how many people you work with that make that make rhymes about typing in a prompt in Chat GPT? King Yohannes: huh. Not yeah. Right. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Not a damn one. And it's okay. Big Daddy K, I bet you, and I haven't met him yet. Big Daddy Cefore X. Plosives: yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): K would never be like, I was sitting here writing a prompt because I was bored. And then, you know, he's not gonna tell those stories. He's gonna tell stories about how, you know, he took a girl. King Yohannes: Where smooth, real smooth. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah those those are my big Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: bros. Kane and Dak. Those are the big bros right there. And everything. Definitely but Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Understood. Understood. Shout out dumb. King Yohannes: Yeah. Even when I seen them and we went for Capadonna's birthday and everything. I sat I s just sitting next to all of them was pretty dope and everything because you know I mean I was gonna be sitting on the side somewhere else like I let the the group do they thing. Doug was like nah sit right here I was sitting and I'm like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. How many times you look over your shoulder to see if anybody was seeing you? King Yohannes: Yeah. Everybody was looking at me like who's that guy? Even even some of them the members and everything, 'cause they was looking at me like, Who's that? Like 'cause everybody else know each other. But I'm Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Yeah. King Yohannes: the new guy, just sitting in the space with them. So I know they looking like. So then then they see me sitting next to Dak and they're like, Alright, and then I guess Dak brother was talking to some of them and then after that it was just peaks and dapping it and they were like yo and I they was like yo you did the beat and I was like yeah Ghostface was like Bro I need your number we need to lock in and Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah. King Yohannes: he was like you did the Kane thing too I was like yeah he was like yeah I'm on there I said yeah I was like all right yeah he was Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I bet nobody could talk to you after that. King Yohannes: like I was hype I was like this is dope I was like this is super dope but yeah I ended up locking in with him Like they they definitely was definitely welcoming, like it was it felt like like I could s catch their chemistry of the love they have for each other, the brotherhood ship. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: And then just being around like I didn't have to be extra being everybody's face, like, yo, pictures. I waited my turn and was like, yo, can I get a picture with you? And they're like, Yeah, no problem. We took pictures and stuff. The only person I didn't get to p get a picture with was old dirty bastard's son. I didn't get to get one. Yeah, he was fat. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Man, he killed it, dog. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): He's he's c he's coming far too. Cefore X. Plosives: He killed it, man. It was like it was like watching O D V on stage. King Yohannes: Yeah, he he's just like his pops. That's dope. He's he's definitely carrying his pops name the right way and everything. I wanted to tell him that we w we we dapped up and everything, but I didn't get to, you know, fully talk and dat t chat with him. But, you know, Dex said there'll be time for that and everything. So I was like, yeah, we're no tripping. I was like, yeah, whenever the time comes that'll come. And everything, but yeah, it was dope. Them having me in their space, chilling with them, celebrating his birth Cabadano's birthday and everything. They was just kicking freestyles, rapping and everything. I was like, this is dope. I was like Cefore X. Plosives: Did you want to wrap? Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Did you get some? Did you get some? King Yohannes: I I wanted to, but I didn't want to mess up the moment. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: Cause I 'cause I like I I ha I could rap. I could write definitely. But what I'm working Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Okay. King Yohannes: on now is my cadence and everything. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: 'Cause I I done wrote some stuff and rap in front of King and front of Sai and everything, and they like, bro, we need to get you on the track and everything. But I think I don't wanna sound Right. I just don't wanna Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I mean challenge accepted. King Yohannes: sound like teenager King Johannes. Yeah, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: so I was like I wanna sound a little bit I gotta find a cadence or a style that fits today. So Cefore X. Plosives: Making huh. King Yohannes: Yeah. So once I once I figure that out how I'ma put my message out, then I'll do it. But for now I'm just still focusing on the beats though. Just making the beats and engineering. So I'm playing catch up on all the beats now. So I'm like, alright, it's time to get Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You ever think of scoring a movie or T V shows or anything? King Yohannes: Yes. And I actually ended up sc scoring a few. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Tell me. King Yohannes: for before all of this I've had my beat on the TI and Tiny Show unofficially, 'cause my credits is not there. But recently is on a movie called Suffocated Three until my last breath. It's on it just came out last week. it's on Tubi, is on Amazon Prime, Peacock, and I believe Paramount is on those Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm. King Yohannes: four plat station apps. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): We can get we can help you get that on FDN. Cefore X. Plosives: Yep. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Shout out Dead Man Rashawn. Cefore X. Plosives: They re that may have King Yohannes: yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: someone exact like. King Yohannes: yeah, so I'm with it. 'Cause I'm I'm trying to get more of those. Like I that was that was my main focus when I was doing music. I was mainly looking for placement opportunities for sync and TV shows. Yeah, Cefore X. Plosives: I think sync money is real. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: I was looking for that 'cause I at a time I was like working with artists, it was very stressful at the time. And I was like, I can't find no artist willing to pay the price that I'm charging for the beat. And it wasn't a lot compared to what I charge now, it definitely was nowhere. I was lowballing myself like crazy. And I would get into fights because people couldn't afford it and everything. Not not like physical fights. I've had someone try to swing on me for forty dollars and everything. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): For forty dollars. King Yohannes: Yeah, this was when I first started. I was selling beats for forty dollars. Didn't know my worth and everything at that time. And he couldn't afford it. He tried to swing on me. Wasn't successful and it didn't end well on his end. But I I Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah, it's good. King Yohannes: Yeah. I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah. King Yohannes: I don't know. Is it's just certain ones I don't know. It's just hmm. That one I'll I'll have to think on a little more because I w I was lowborn on myself a lot on the music and everything, but there's there's been a lot of music that I did that I don't got credit for and I just knit that in the butt. It's you know, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm. King Yohannes: just like like even with my journey with where I'm at, like I I've I've went through a lot of negative things and Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: a lot of people kinda defaming my name. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm. King Yohannes: and stuff. They they really try to put my name in the dirt type stuff. And everything and, you know, no names I would rather give spotlight to. But Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah, yeah. King Yohannes: they they that also Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): But folks are dirty. Folks are dirty, yeah. King Yohannes: And then you know, with everything going now going on now, it's it's it's been silent but I still hear this rumors and stuff, people talking. But I I learned to just focus on the positive stuff. And I just Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah. King Yohannes: yeah, I just focus on that and Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Like Kat Williams said, haters gonna hate. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. And I'm learning Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): If you don't have anybody to hate, feel free to hate on me. King Yohannes: Yeah. I and I and my my homeboy told me he was like, yo, you ever watch he was like The Simpsons? And he was like, You know how Mr. Burns got Homer working for him and everybody else working for him? He was like, think of your haters like that, you Mr. Burns and they work for you. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: And I was like After that I stopped arguing with people, I don't say nothing. 'Cause I used to go back and forth and everything. And I was like, huh. And then I as I started working with Kane and other artists of that caliber, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: just learning, building relationships with them and learning what they like being around and stuff they don't like being around. I was like, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: I need to X some of these situations out my circle and my space. Cefore X. Plosives: It's it it's really important to get your your circle as tight as possible. You know what I'm saying? And then like my pastor always says Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Sometimes that circle is just one person in that bitch. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. And King Yohannes: I'm learning that now. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And that's how you start. Yeah. King Yohannes: Yeah, I'm learning that now. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: And then you start building it piece by piece. That that that and that that in itself is is hard, but once you find the players and in and you know that that you can depend upon, then you know your your foundation is solid. And my pastor always says, if you're gonna fall, make sure you fall forward. 'Cause you're always making progress, right? So like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: even if you're gonna take your lumps, you're gonna learn from Those mistakes, those those r those people you trusted that might have did you dirty, the people that were talking shit in the background, I'm like, all right, cool, that's what it is. I know better now. You know what I'm saying? It's like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You still gotta get up and make those beats. Whether people Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah, man. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): are talking shit or not, King Yohannes: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): you still gotta get up and make those beats. King Yohannes: I I'm thank I'm thankful for all of it because at at Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): One hundred percent. King Yohannes: the time I was only making drill beats and and trap beats and hip hop beats. I really Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: wasn't doing too much boom bap or like what y'all hear with the bars open. I wasn't doing too much of that or the like the soulful stuff. But I I was told that I wasn't gonna be better than them or the purple people in their circle. And then I just learned to do everything in all those different lanes and I just worked hard and like a Cefore X. Plosives: So King Yohannes: lot of people can tell you if I'm I'm usually always I slow down now, but I used to stay go live on Instagram every day from 3 to 3 Cefore X. Plosives: Dio King Yohannes: a.m just make beats. That's all I did. So I would say I would sit well let me switch it up. Whenever I got done doing daddy duties and hubby duties, Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: I came in here and I just slowly worked only on music and I stream because my thing was if I stream and I made my music everybody's you know, they ain't no telling who can see you, who who watch or not. That's what I do and I go to like platforms like there's another one where how Cyolore met me is a podcast called the Beat Club Podcast. And the guy my guy do it all loops. Motivate Marin and Trench got gang. Those are the three hosts there and they have a producer podcast where producers come, they play their music and everything. It's not no battle stuff. And everything is just send your beats and everything. What they do do is like if they someone that like you say, beat of the week and then Carlos got beat of week. We're like, Well, we both can't pick this one for this week, so now we gotta battle these out to see which one wins. Like that that's as far as the battling goes with that. But The dope spot is that's my my sanctuary spot. That's where all of this Kenya Hannes name blowing up started from and everything Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: 'cause it was a platform that believed in me and let me submit there and stuff, which led to me meeting Sire Law and then led to Siah Law taking me to LA For opportunity. I can't speak on that opportunity, but I had a big opportunity that's television related. But we got that's how I met Kane in that area along with a lot of other legends in there. And Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Is he out there now? King Yohannes: I don't know. He's not no, I don't he's not in LA. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Okay. King Yohannes: but I don't think I could disclose that. But Yeah, he he I met him out there, played the music there, then when I came back, that's when everything just been building from from there, just the communications and all Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That momentum, yeah. King Yohannes: that. Yeah. Shout I would say shout out to Leon Robinson, the actor from Five Heartbeats. He w Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: okay. King Yohannes: he was around and he was the one that told King to get look he was like you should work with that kid there's something special about him and everything and I was like that's dope and then that's how it happened. Crazy thing when I did my show in VA for the producer lounge he popped up Just spurring a moment. Didn't know that w event was going on, nothing he popped up. And I was like, Leon, he was like, hey, what's up? And I was like, It worked. What you told Kane to do with me, it worked. I said, We got an album coming out, so and I was I was like, You doing the show? I was like, I'm about to do my show, I'm about to do my set. So I think he heard my set, but he was in there, grabbed some food. I saw him chilling for a minute, and then next thing you know, he was gone. And then I was telling everybody, y'all did see Leon Rock? Robinson and everybody looking for him like where? I'm like, he already left. But I I thought that was crazy 'cause I was like that. He it started with him telling King and I'm doing the show and he was there. I was like that was dope. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: That's how it works, man. The universe is crazy, man. God knows what he's doing, man. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And the good thing, the good thing about you streaming and all that stuff is you now have a library. It's not just like you and a post, look at my record. It's you're like building this rapport with the people that are gonna eventually support you. And they get to see the real you. Mm-hmm. And that's what's going to be the difference between folks that get into the studio and actually bust this shit out versus someone who's sitting on AI. Like nobody wants to see you write a prompt. Everybody wants to see you build a song. So like now with this technology and how everything is is happening, it's people come to see you for what you do and how you do it. If you're if you're if you're if you're a slave to technology, if you're a slave to AI, your your foundation is gonna be a little bit weaker. Cefore X. Plosives: Mhm. And you're la you you long y then you gotta think about longevity, credibility. You know what I'm saying? Like a lot of a lot of people just wanna turn and burn and just make money, which is fine if that's what you wanna do. You know what I'm saying? We got we got kids, we're grown men, you know what I'm saying? We got we got legacies. We don't you know, we're not just trying to be some one night one turn tracks, you know what I'm saying? You you you don't you don't get to where you're at Ca like you could have did the Kane the Kane track and been like, All right, man, I made it with Big Daddy Cain, I'm the man now, I'm gonna charge a million dollars a beat. No, that doesn't get you an album with Big Daddy Kane. That'll get you caught. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. And one hit and let me say it like this, one hit wonders run out of money. Cefore X. Plosives: You know what I'm saying? Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I'd rather have a library of fire. King Yohannes: Exactly. They all add up. I learned I learned that watching terminology. I watching he put he has a lot of albums out. And I'm like, huh. And I started looking at the numbers that they got. I'm like, they doing good numbers. And I was like, he's pretty doing like not trying to get in his business, but by looking at it, I'm like, if he did his PROs and all that correctly, I was like, he's making some good money. offers his music alone just by having over sixty or seventy albums of music. And Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: I'm like, that's that's work. I was like, I like I I respect people with their work at the ethnic like that and everything. That's how I am. I I'll work I'm just learn learning to rest. Like so that's what Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: I've been doing now. Cause you Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: normally I'll be I'll be working on music probably from around this time till like four or five in the morning lately. And then I'll sleep three hours and wake up and mix and do all the stuff so I had to learn to start resting. And it actually makes it better. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Resting, yep, eating right. Cause what you put in your body is going to help your mind stay clear. It's hard. It's hard to be creative and when you're not feeling real good 'cause that whopper didn't hit quite right. King Yohannes: Right. Yeah, I had my moments where Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: I was feeling sick and I just I'll try to fight through it. And that's when I really knew I needed the rest. Where I would sit here Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Yeah. King Yohannes: and I'm gonna fight through it like I always do. And then my body just be like, No, you're not making music today, buddy. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Your body Cefore X. Plosives: No. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): said, Let me give you this little this little heart palpitation. Sit your ass down for a second. King Yohannes: Yeah, Cefore X. Plosives: For sure. King Yohannes: and it got to the point where I didn't even want to be in my my studio room. I just I started me focused. I and it's good to do that, take a break, like go watch T V. Get like you gather inspiration from like T V shows or anything you could watch, like or like just go out and go enjoy like nature and Cefore X. Plosives: Experience. King Yohannes: life and all that. Just d Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): For real. King Yohannes: do something and everything. Like you said, stay off the electronics and everything, off the devices and stuff, like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Telling you go outside, go for a walk outside and see how many memories you remember. And see how, like, there's like when you walk by some flowers, or there's a place over here. I like to tell this story. There's a place over here, it's a retirement place community, but they but it's it's on a golf course and they have rosemary bushes everywhere. And there's something really special about you up there, and the wind blows just a little bit, and you get that. And you're about to tee off and there's like rosemary smell on the boy. It's it's special. Cefore X. Plosives: You appre appreciating that and then going back and going back to doing your craft, then you appreciate that well, it's just as much, you know what I'm saying? If not more. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: Like, man, I I'm I'm blessed with these gifts. All right, cool. Let's go back to work. You know what I'm saying? And you you see how it's when you were talking a little bit earlier about Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: like assembling and things like that, like you see how Riza did it. You know what I'm saying? You know, when he started when he started Wu Tang and how he he made sure that everybody was gonna be on different labels to get so everybody got paid. You know, you're taking care of your pieces. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Talking. Cefore X. Plosives: But then we're all together. You know, like it's Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And tell me the rest of and tell me the rest of Wu Chang wouldn't slap the brakes off your stupid ass if Resident Tell him. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. And I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You fuck with Wu Tang, you you're fucking with gang violence. Not even not that they're a gang or that they, you know, that they get down like that, but like they you build a team and and if everyone knows their position and everyone knows like we can accomplish great things if we just like tap in with each other in that way. It's unbeatable and unstoppable. King Yohannes: Yeah, they they move with how I always think it it should work. Like no one is bigger than the next person. Everybody's equally dope. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yep. And everybody's throwing everybody else's name in the hat. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. That like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Let's go take over. King Yohannes: that's what that and that's what that's what ran ran on the beat told me. He was like 'cause he helped me with all this stuff and I like, that's dope. Like I don't you don't normally get too many people that wanna see you win. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: put you in the the right rooms and he and he did that for me so he was like yeah all I want you to do is pay it forward to the next person that you you feel deserve it and everything. And I was like cool that's what's up 'cause I I've been trying to give him producer credits on stuff and everything. He like nah. I'm like, bro, you gotta at least take five percent. He like nah Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: that's for you. That's for you. I was like, don't want nothing to do with that. I I just want to see you win. I'm like, appreciate it. But I was like I must I'm I'm gonna sneak your information in one of these records. Right. Right. Cause he that that's Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You're gonna win whether or not you want to, dammit. Cefore X. Plosives: You know, you're gonna get a trick. King Yohannes: that's like my big brother. Like we all around the same age, but like I I call him big bro 'cause I I ain't had no one to really do stuff like that for me and everything, so Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, that's good looking out. King Yohannes: You know. But that it's dope how Wu Tang sticked together all this time and I don't think they never had a fight where they broke up that I can recall enough. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You ain't gonna Cefore X. Plosives: You know Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): say them you ain't gonna see them on VH well where are they now? Cefore X. Plosives: No, but but you know, reservation that that the op like the freedom, you know what I'm saying? Like you're not tied Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: into us. I want you to go and, you know, be all your your chambers, man, to go go do go do you, but we can always come back home to eat. You know what I'm saying? We all come back to the table. You know what I'm saying? And that's kind of where like Bone kind of the when when the announcement of the tour came, two of them were gonna go on tour because they didn't they weren't in involved in the negotiations, right? And then Crazy Bone was like, look, man, what when I when if I'm negotiating something that this is like of this magnitude, it's with everybody in mind. We're all gonna eat. You know what I'm saying? And like and that that just goes to to to the people, the circle that you create, right? And the people that you put in that circle and the trust that you have with those people. If if there's any if there's any ill ill feelings or ill thoughts, then it's not gonna work. You know what I'm saying? You gotta you gotta it it's so it's so important. You know what I'm saying? King Yohannes: I'm going through that now. Like I'm I'm I'm actively building my team slowly. But the team that I had it was it was I had a good set of like I some lethal people that are very talented and everything and it just turns out I guess everybody's vision is different. Everybody's path Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: is different. I'll say it that way without making it sound a certain way. Everybody's path is differently. So it went Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: from being fourteen people on my list to it's like two or three now. So yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Sometimes it's gotta be that way now. King Yohannes: And then and through the whole process I was just bugging out like like dang I got this going on. This is what all of us producers are looking forward to, something like that. Why aren't you guys, you know, lock it in or why is it harder communicate and you know, everybody just I I know that I witness everybody being at distance, the family and friends and all that and everything. But I've learned in the process why it's happening. So I was like, all right. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. It's better to happen now. King Yohannes: Yeah, yeah, and then and that's how Kane explained it to me too. It was like it's better to have it shown now than you to have your empire built and someone brings it down. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: And so Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: That Judas comes out, you King Yohannes: That's that's Cefore X. Plosives: know. King Yohannes: exactly what he said. You don't want Judas to come out when your whole tower is built like that. So I was like, Cool. So I I I've I've learned to accept all the scenarios that's been going on and I've been just fully focusing on the positive, like everything with the music going on, locking in, making more music, tapping in with all the artists that did the bars open challenge, the the celebrities, the battle rappers, just trying to make more network and connections that cause I how I see it this way is some of these artists I wasn't able to talk to before Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: and a lot of them respect Kane. So yeah so I was Cefore X. Plosives: That's a cosign right there. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's why they should. That's why they should, if they're smart. King Yohannes: so I was like alright I produced for a legend that they respect. So now now that communication of proper communication is open now because of that respect. So I was like, that's what's up. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And then check this. When you were dealing with folks that couldn't afford a $40 beat compared to dealing with someone at the magnitude, at the level of a Big Daddy Kane, who's easier to work with? King Yohannes: I would say it's easier to work with Big Daddy Kane. Cause even with how Kane show me. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You don't want to deal with forty dollar people. King Yohannes: Yeah, no. Don't deal with the $40 people. K Kane on a business level, with Kane Show Me, because everybody does business a certain way. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: And every artist does it differently. The way me and Kane did our business is the the standard way. But he made sure I got paid. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: And we made sure paperwork was done and everything Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Alright. King Yohannes: was right and then Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Because you know why? You get to the creative a lot faster that way. King Yohannes: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Let's get all this dumb shit out the way. King Yohannes: Yeah. Cause Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: 'cause the creative part Yeah, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): All right, now let's get in the studio. King Yohannes: 'cause the creative part's the easiest part. The the business part is the one that takes the longest. And everything Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And that hurts people's feelings. King Yohannes: Yeah, and people don't be having patience with time and you know, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: that's when the older producers start hounding the artist down. When is this gonna happen? If you don't respond to me I'm sending this beat somewhere else and everything. So I wasn't that producer, but I was one of those like at least let me know something. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: at everything, but I learned like it just leaving in God's hands is it'll work Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: out. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And that has something to do with you being it right in the middle of your come up. Cause like now King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): that you're dealing with Wu Tang, now that you're dealing with Kane, now that you're dealing with these guys that don't worry about forty dollar beats, they know that they they understand they got shit to do. They understand Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): that you're there for a reason. They're gonna let you do you because that's why you're in the room. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Forty dollar folks, ugh, they nickel and dime and they wanna move the snare and they wanna what the fuck, just leave me alone. Just leave me alone. And your Cefore X. Plosives: Yep. It reminds me it reminds me of Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): bars are whack. Get out of here. Cefore X. Plosives: You you from the Bronx, man. You you seen the movie of Bronxdale, right? So when he when he when Cologne Rose like trying to hunt the dude down for twenty bucks, right, down the street and he's like, I'll pay you, I'll pay you, I I'll pay you, I'll pay you when I get there and then Sonny was like, Yo, man, you just got him out of your life for twenty bucks. You got off easy. You know what I'm saying? Like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: forty bucks, okay. Now I gotta try some more. King Yohannes: Yep. Yep. That's Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's a twenty dollar lesson. Yeah. King Yohannes: clearly how it be. Yep. Yep. That's how definitely how they be. And I I got to the phase where I started charging like five hundred and they was like, yo, that's too much. And I was like, nah. I'm like, okay. And everything's Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Okay. Okay. It is the King Yohannes: But now it's like yeah and then my team like Ran, I've been having help me and Kane and all though and they was like, Yeah, ain't no more beats under a a j a G, bro. He said your beats is worth way more than that now. So So Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): One hundred percent. King Yohannes: how how I've been able to structure that is been real smooth lately. It's like I do it where it's like, you know, if you can't afford to pay it fall out, then you know deposit. And everything 'cause Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: you know, people I've dealt with a lot of people where I used to be hyped to work for other artists. And they were like, Yeah, I need this. I'm like, yeah, cool, I got you. And I go being all jolly and cooking up the beats and hey guys, look what I made. And they're like, yeah, that's dope, that's fire. And then I'm Yeah, where you gonna pay me? And then pay me turns into next week to two months to four months to six months. Subscription done turned off, waiting on the payment and stuff, so they Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: Yeah, so then I I I've learned that if you put a deposit down Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, that means you're a little bit serious. King Yohannes: You're serious and you're not gonna let that deposit go to waste 'cause they nobody giving away that much money. Cefore X. Plosives: I mean no. King Yohannes: Just to be giving it away. So you're gonna make sure you do what you're supposed to do and everything. I Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: don't and which is why forty dollar beats don't work. 'Cause if if you a person would let forty dollars go down the drain w in a heartbeat, but they ain't gonna let they Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: ain't gonna let a couple of hundreds go down the drain. So Cefore X. Plosives: No. King Yohannes: So that's that was my structure now. It's like, yeah, deposit, do that, I work on the beat. what I do is I get on Zoom call like how we talking and everything. I'll talk with them and then make the beats live with them on there if it's something they want, cool. Cefore X. Plosives: that's what's up. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): that's dope. King Yohannes: Yeah. sometime they just be like, no, y'all need to watch, just do your thing. Then I'll make the beats. But that works sometime. it's more effective when the person is there 'cause I'm making exactly what you hearing that you want. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: So I'll I'll do that and then by the time the beat is done, send me the rest of the deposit, you get the wave and the stems. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: The contract already signed with everything, my BMI information, everything is in place. So you have all the information so you don't have to hey, what's your info again? Or everything Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: documented and emailed, printed out, signed, stamped and all that. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Seamless. King Yohannes: Yeah. So so I've Cefore X. Plosives: That's how grown now work. King Yohannes: been I've been working Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): One hundred percent. One hundred percent. King Yohannes: Yeah, 'cause I I I took a lot of losses doing it the other way. And I it used to piss me off. It made me wanted to go visit art artists and stuff. Like I need my money, bro. Like what are you doing? And Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. I used to draw pictures of people. I used to do this thing. Hey, you know, because I'd be streaming and drawing on Instagram and stuff like that. So I'd be like, hey, 50 bucks. I'll draw a picture of you, your girl, whatever. Da da da. Hey, you know how many people just, all right, draw a picture of my girl. All right. And I'd be all excited, draw the picture. Here you go. They'd be like, This is trash. But then, like, they got the picture. You know what I mean? King Yohannes: Right. And I ain't Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): So then King Yohannes: and I don't got my money, so it's like you won anyway. Yeah. Yep. Yeah. At a certain point you get tired getting ripped off. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, I just got ripped off. One hundred percent. And it's usually King Yohannes: Yeah, in my case. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): right around when you're really hungry and you got no groceries. That's when I got King Yohannes: Yeah. And we be twist. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): tired of that shit. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. It's definitely Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: it'd definitely get to you after a certain amount of time. I was like, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: yeah. That life would be like, so they got the beat, you heard them rap on it, and you don't have nothing in your cash up or your PayPal or in your bank account to show for it. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Can't be a can't be a guy, good guy like that no more. And it sucks King Yohannes: Yeah. yeah that Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): because I wanna, I wanna do that. I wanna, I love helping people. I love making people feel good. I like making them feel special, all the things. And it's cool. Like you go and you draw a picture of someone, and when you get it right and they they look like, this is cool. Yeah, but like all of a sudden now you just you just tarnish the relationship because like you booked. For fifty bucks, you prove to me that you're an asshole for fifty bucks. King Yohannes: Exactly. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And you get tired of not having fifty bucks. King Yohannes: Exactly. Right. Cefore X. Plosives: Can't pay bills with IOUs. King Yohannes: Right. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Or smiles. Or smiles. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I've tried. King Yohannes: Yeah. I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: I started putting it in the term where I was like, We can't walk in Nike and just say, Hey, let me get these phone posits or these Jordans and Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: let me wear it for a week and see how I like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: it and I'll pay you back then and let you know how I like it. I think I was like, yeah, I can't do that with my music and everything. I was like, Yeah, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, exactly. King Yohannes: I can't do it. So I I've been Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Exactly. King Yohannes: very strict on that now. Like there's you know, I guess some people that what what I have to learn though, 'cause it's just a thing that artists do. They'll just hit me and be like, Yo, send me some beats, bro. I'm gonna make this go crazy and this is fire and all that, you dope. Just send me some beats and and they'll send me the email and I'm looking for the question for how much you charge? W what kind of beats can you make for me? Like the real questions that I need to know. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): No. King Yohannes: I'm not getting those questions. I get the question of can I make or send not even a c a question, it's a demand. Send me beats. And I Cefore X. Plosives: Yo sentí that. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: And I'd be like, dang, producers really don't got respect out here. And I just be like, huh, let me go be an engineer. Cause it seemed like the engineers get respected more than the producers. And and then I'll and Cefore X. Plosives: Dude, King Yohannes: it's and it it is true. And Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: engineers make more money than producers off their beats. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. Yeah, 'cause it they could they could King Yohannes: 'Cause 'cause 'cause the Cefore X. Plosives: easily make that shit sound like garbage. King Yohannes: Yeah. They could they could mix it, they could charge you per hour, however much they charge you for, and then charge you for the session and the master and all that. And typically that is w w w that that payment is more than what the producer got for the beat. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm. King Yohannes: So once I started learning that, I said, yeah. My beats is gonna cost more than engineer service. Cefore X. Plosives: We call it. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah, because now I do both. So it's like it's just a one stop shop. Yeah. And that's how Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): No, and now you hit him with the one two punch. Le Beat and you engineer? Hell yeah. Write that check out, goddammit. Yep. King Yohannes: I wanted to do like when I created Royal Crowns Productions, I wanted it to be a one stop shop. so as I'm still building my team, 'cause I I wanna do video production, but I know I'm not gonna be able to do all those things at the same time. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I know guy. King Yohannes: yeah? Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I got you. I got you. We'll share we'll I'll share some some some links. Yeah, yeah, yeah. King Yohannes: Cool, cool. Yeah, so that's what I'm doing. I'm I'm building pieces together and forming a squad for the for the company. And as we get bigger and do what we need to do, you know, the opportunities and everything work out like that. So I got like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah. King Yohannes: a few producers that I haven't reached out to yet that I have in mind and everything. Then I have some artists. I do have one video guy, but he might not be as available as I would hope. So Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: definitely looking for for more. But yeah, I'm just looking for all all different stuff, media communication 'cause I went to school for media c media communications. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: So anybody that do that and just build in so someone can handle different stuff. 'Cause I I'm I'm Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: learning with having Rand manage me in a way. It's a lot to have to focus on making the beats and doing the business stuff and the paperwork Cefore X. Plosives: Uh-huh. King Yohannes: and the lawyer stuff and everything. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: It takes away from me being creative. So Cefore X. Plosives: Hundred percent. King Yohannes: I was like, Yeah, I need to start building a team that can handle that type of stuff and everything. Especially if I get projects where it's like I don't I don't Everybody keeps saying this is me thinking this, that I'm have so many projects to do, I'm not gonna be able to get to everybody's beat in town. But everybody was like, Nah, you can, you got it And everything I'm like, But what if this big artist wants a record album done and this one wants me to do an album and it's in the same time frame and it's two different genres, like I'm I'm doing the what if in my head, but Yeah Cefore X. Plosives: Two different planes of existence. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Look at you stressing out about a wonderful situation. What a great problem to have. King Yohannes: Right. Right. So right. So Cefore X. Plosives: Right. King Yohannes: I'm like worrying about all that and they was like, nah, you could and then I'm like, all right, well, just in case I said I'm gonna keep these few producers in the pocket just in case this happened. But I said I'm gonna I'm gonna follow what the univ what God's telling me, what the universe telling me. You got this. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's it. It gets easy that way. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah, King, King Yohannes: Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: I'm gonna tell you something, man. And it's not to it's not to toot our horn over here on this side, but the people that we have on the show, we've had a lot of people on the show. We come from and a lot of it lately, like we've done a lot of politicians over the past year, right? We brought a lot of political candidates on board. We we've also tapped back into Chicago where we're from and brought in a lot of artists and producers and and we started c let bringing people on the show that that love to do all the things that we love to do, right? Positive messages through creativity, shit like that. So we've Carla Carlos has been doing this a lot longer than I have on that s on that piece. But he's like we've built there's an army of people, producers, artists, creatives, engineers, network guys. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Animators, illustrators, filmmakers. Cefore X. Plosives: Like if you we have there's a Rolodex, no lie. You know what I'm saying? And we're gonna add your name to the Rollerdex because every time anybody comes on the show, you like you said in the beginning, like the very beginning, your family, right? So make sure you tap in. Like whatever you need, like if we can't get covered, we know somebody. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Cause look, cause look, ain't nobody coming to get us. Ain't nobody coming to help. Ain't nobody none of that shit. As a matter of fact, they are kicking us the fuck out of this country. So the way I say it is, we know what to do because we're doing it for them. What's it look like if we do it for us? We build our own thing. And just like just like when you walked in and you touched that. Loud at that big ass soundboard, they smack your hand. We build our own thing. If you try to touch it, you get your hand smacked. You ain't taking shit away because we have the foundation and we're growing and the network. And I don't know about you. I worked in LA and all the things, and I've worked on a lot of big projects and all the things and all the things. At the end of the day, I don't want my big break to be because I play with your butthole. I don't wanna play that game. I wanna show up, I wanna make movies, I wanna make music, I wanna make animations, I don't wanna do all that extra stuff. King Yohannes: Yeah. Y'all can have those parties. Just just just put me in a concealed Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Have Have Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Keep it big oil and King Yohannes: studio where no one's invited in on me. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's it. I like being in my Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): studio. I like being the the the fun uncle. I love my life. I don't need to do all that extra stuff. I don't need to, I don't need a bunch of these busters thinking, this guy, he's he's not cool. Okay. I don't care about being cool. I care about making my stuff. I care about feeding the team, getting the squad together. That's actually gonna put shit together. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Carlos has been our rizzo, man, not gonna lie. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's that's crazy to hear. Riz is that dude. that was crazy. back on track. King, what do you do? No, no, no. That was that was a big one. That was Cefore X. Plosives: Solid as feelings, man. He's allowed. King Yohannes: Caught a lot of guard with that. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): that was that was heavy. what are you doing? What do you got? You got plans for the future? You just gonna focus on building up the studio and stuff? King Yohannes: yes, as of right now I'm I'm transforming my man cave into a a personal studio space. So for situations where like if I wanted Cain to come here or Deck or anybody, yeah, it Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Hell yeah. It'd be a straight up vibe. Fuck yeah. King Yohannes: it'd be more of a personal straight up vibe. We didn't gotta be. I learned a lot of them don't like to be out in the public everywhere, they like their privacy. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. Ain't no King Yohannes: So I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): ain't number trouble out there. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. So I'm building my own hair. my goal is to build my own recording studio. and have one out here. I'll I'm most likely to do it out here in Charlotte. I don't think I'm leaving anytime soon. And everything. I haven't found Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): If it works. King Yohannes: yeah, if it works. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: I thought about LA, but I was like, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm. King Yohannes: I don't know. There's there's some dope opportunity in LA but I think LA is Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. But they have airplanes that go out there. King Yohannes: right. Exactly. And that's how I feel about New York too. Like I don't I don't need to go back to New York and everything I could just go visit, do what I came to do, come back home and everything. I think I just got used to the peacefulness over here. Like it's just quiet. You know, you don't gotta really look over your shoulder all the time and stuff. So so I'm like, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's big. That's big. King Yohannes: yeah, so I'm like, all right, I don't think I wanna go back to that, but I wanna be able to go home and Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: do things and come back. So but Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: yeah, that's that's that's mainly the goal, just doing that, building my business getting actual Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: building getting these projects done my personal projects the beat album also the one with the artists on there I don't have names for these projects yet also I have a vocal sound pack that's out on my website and everything. That is that is actually featured on a upcoming TV show. It hasn't dropped yet. I don't have the data when that's gonna drop. But I have this Cefore X. Plosives: Come back on the show. King Yohannes: vo Yeah, definitely. I have a vocal choir pack that it that it's been out for a while, but it's whenever it drops it's gonna be its time to get a spotlight. and then I was supposed to be working On my third installment of that. That was supposed to be done the beginning of the year. But I put a lot of things to the side when I got this cane opportunity. I was like, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah, you did. King Yohannes: forget everything right now. We're gonna focus on this. But Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Ha ha ha. King Yohannes: I got that going on. I I do got merch. I I just this is my my merch, my company, world Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Ooh, hell yeah. King Yohannes: things. Yeah, I done changed my logo like 30 times. and stuff. Well as it grows and and me r eat autumn's still part of the business, all the logos I have. But I just I use autumn as like a growth chart. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: From where it was to where it goes now. I got these. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: they on my website. this particular material I got from a friend of mine's that actually is from Chicago. he lives in Florida though, too. His his brand is iNerd clothing. he he his the fabric on this is nice. So I'm like, huh, I might have to work with him to just do more. Cause I got some that I got with the other company I do it with. But it's good shirts. But wha however way he did it this way. I was like, I need more of it like this. And then 'cause Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: I even made a I don't have it on me, but I did a Wu Tang inspired shirt where I did the Wu Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah. King Yohannes: Tang symbol, but I had it I I used Chat GBT for this one and everything. 'Cause I drew it out first and then I took the picture and I put it in the Chat GBT. And I said, can you make a Wu Tang inspired logo with the K and the Y Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: and Wu Tang symbol? And they did it like it was holes. And then I was like, it it automatically created ninjas inside the the black Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: space. And I when I did it, I said, This is fire. So I I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: I kept messing with it and I kept editing and doing more drawings and, you know, tryna using the art with prompt on the a on the chat GPT and everything. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Right. Right. King Yohannes: And it did it the exact way I wanted it, which was very similar to how I drew it, but to the next level. So then I sent it Yeah, I sent it to d to Deck Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Cleaned up. Yeah. Yep. King Yohannes: and he was like, This is fire. He said, he showed it to all the all the colors. They said, Yo, that's that's dope. Like that. So I I have some inspired ones that I'm making. I don't I don't know the term of if I can make money off of those. Probably not. But I I did make one. I I made one for deck, but it just didn't when he I was supposed to be delivered here before the show happened. And it came literally the day after. So but yeah, but w I'ma get it to him, I'll probably just mail it out to him. Or whatever. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: But I yeah, they upstairs that just I'll I'll send you a picture of so that you see what it looked like. But yeah that Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): I'd love to. King Yohannes: yeah that that that that That one is fire. So then he was like, Yeah, I like that. So I'm gonna be doing a few things like that. I got merch on my website though. some of the old logos. I have beats Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): While we're here, let let everybody know where they they can find you, where they can find your merch, where they can follow up with you, all the things. King Yohannes: So the find the merch and anything upcoming I am in the process of updating my website with all the current stuff going on. the website is Royal Crowns with a S. Productions with a S dot com. I have music. Not for sale yet on there. I have like demos of beats that I have on there so people can see what I could do. I have beats on there. I have links to like shows that I've done. I might have some clips of when I used to do beat battles and stuff, but it's mostly merch and like links and YouTube links and stuff with people that I did music with. So I got it Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: like that and then I got it connected to like a EP E PK website. So somehow I did it where it was like they intertwine each other, where they link back to each other. So if you need to get back to the website you can get back to that. But if you anybody trying to reach out and work with me or just to contact me about anything w music related or anything, best way to contact me is either on the website but most likely on Instagram. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): He'll be live streaming on Instagram every day any damn way. Just just follow King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): with him there. King Yohannes: Yeah. I I have been slowing up with the streaming a little bit. Only because the demands of certain artists don't want to be to be heard on live. So so I I'm like, Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Sure. That's fair. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: You King Yohannes: okay. Cefore X. Plosives: you were on live when I was at the concert. King Yohannes: Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: And I'm like, Yo, they're playing your beep. They're playing he's doing your track. King Yohannes: I was like, I was yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: And I was like, I can't hear what you're saying. I don't know if you've responded to me. I was like, fuck it, I'm gonna record. King Yohannes: Right. I was like, snap. That was dope. That was that was actually super dope. I was like, snap. Somebody's listening to it right now. And I like, I wish I could go video and see that right now. I really wish I Cefore X. Plosives: And I King Yohannes: could have went with them all the spots and everything. But I was like Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: I was like the spur of moment. Somebody gotta pick up the kids from school. Somebody gotta help with their homework. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: Somebody gotta make dinner for these for these for these people. So I was like, hmm. But it worked out the way it did and stuff. And I still get to vi watch it. And then like everybody else was like, you still was there on stage. I seen you on screen. And I was like, okay. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: It was like cool. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): For real. King Yohannes: Yeah. I it was definitely I still keep reliving the whole thing, like in my head. Like that. I'm like, yeah. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Enjoy that shit. 'Cause you get to tell stories nobody else gets to. King Yohannes: Yeah, and then the fact that they I seen Deck is turning it in the album into vinyl and cassette tape. I think no Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, nice. King Yohannes: the vinyl and cassette tape versions come out November twentieth, I believe. I believe he said November twentieth. I think that's the exact date. But yeah, I'm definitely gonna get one of those too, because I'ma get that, I'm gonna frame it. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: I spoke to I spoke it into existence that I told Dek, I said we gonna get a plaque off of this one. And I said, and it's streaming and it's out and you've been performing it on the tour. I said, Yeah, Cefore X. Plosives: Yes, sir. King Yohannes: we're definitely gonna get a plaque for this. So I was like, I want I told him I said I need I need a pair of them Wu-Tang kicks Sign signed by every member. And then I'ma put it there with the frame. I'm gonna get the frame, the I'm gonna get a frame, I'm gonna get the the album, the the vinyl and the cassette tape and I'm gonna frame it all. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: That and then I say and when I get the plaque, I'ma just put it right next to it. Right there in my back wall, it's gonna be right there. Then I say I get Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Hell yeah. King Yohannes: I get to be like the producers that be showing off their plaque in the back in the background and everything. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah, but King Yohannes: I always I always made fun of them when they did. I said you you could've put your camera on picture. You you could've had your setup anywhere else. You had an angle in that area so we could see it. But I I was like, I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah, he did. King Yohannes: get why I said I would do the same thing, but Cefore X. Plosives: But I gotta tell you something, man. You better keep those walls empty 'cause they're gonna get filled up, man. You keep doing what you're doing, dog. King Yohannes: Appreciate it. Appreciate it. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): No, and the way that you're doing it is impressive. King Yohannes: Thank you, man. Appreciate it, man. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: Yeah, I'm trying to stay stay on that path. and just keep creating. Locking in with a lot of artists. Getting good music out and stuff. I do a lot of different music. I do a lot of different genres and everything. I could I do Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): What's the craziest one that you work in? King Yohannes: The most recent one that I just successfully accomplished was like this rock hip hop type of beat. Yeah, I just recently did that for an artist. That was actually challenging, because it it's been a while since I did something like that. And I went through like four different beats that I made. I was like, I don't like none of these. Then I said, hey, let's get you on the call. And let's see this. And then I and he was like, that's it right there. That's the one. Then I was like, it's pretty simple, but I'm learning simplicity is better. Cause Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: I like I have beats that I did that I did for Kane and for Deck that I thought was gonna get the spotlight first. And the beats that got the spotlight, I was like, huh. I was like I was like Yeah, I was like huh. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's different. King Yohannes: I was like I didn't expect it but like the reaction everybody liking it I was like okay it's authentic like hip hop music and everything. I th but I do the R and B, I do reggaeton, I could make I know how to do the the the deep sleep music that they be having on YouTube and everything. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): that lo fi stuff? King Yohannes: Yeah, where it's like There was like the frequency and it helps you sleep when you need a sleep. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): yeah yeah yeah. huh. King Yohannes: I know how to do that stuff and everything, so yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): What is that neural neural beats or something like that? Neural beats? Neural? King Yohannes: Something like that. You know what? I d I never really knew the term of it. Cefore X. Plosives: King's just like I make it, I just make it. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. I just I just King Yohannes: Yeah. 'Cause I yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): keep making a beat till I fall asleep. Cefore X. Plosives: Like what? King Yohannes: That that that that's Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That one works. King Yohannes: that that l that literally happened. That the funny thing that happened Cefore X. Plosives: What's hard is it? King Yohannes: to me last night while I was live. I was live making Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: music and I was working on R and B. It was a nice vibe. And I was locking in like 'cause I got this thing where if I'm locking in trying to hear a different note or what I can create, I'll close my eyes and just like lock in on the frequency using my ears. And s I don't need to fall asleep. But somehow I'll be so locked in that I would literally doze off. But in my mind Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: I'm still creating it. Then I'll hear them if someone's in my live and theyy King, you sleep? And I'd be like, nah, I'm listening to the Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: frequencies, trying to get the song right. They're like, Bro, your head just dropped. And then I'm like, Yeah, it's time Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: to get out the live. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: But I I've I've fallen asleep a few times on live too. Hopefully there's no screenshots. But Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Checking it King Yohannes: I I got caught I got caught lacking a couple of times and everything, so I'll I'll get like a Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): that's funny. King Yohannes: little lifted and get in my zone and stuff and then I'll be alright. But yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Who's one artist you want to work with? King Yohannes: one artist that I wanna work with. I would like to work with common. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): that big dog. King Yohannes: Yeah. I I usually go in comments live. Whenever I catch live. Say the same thing every time. So he remember who I am. Cause he's I'm gonna say I'm not gonna change what I say. And every time he's live, I'll be like, comment, peace, and blessings. I'm speaking it to an existence as I always do. I'm gonna produce a record for you one day in the future. I say that to Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: him every time. Every time in Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Hell yeah. Let know. King Yohannes: the Yeah, I cause I'm like that's the only thing I got to say to you. I said other than that, I'm gonna let the music Bridge the gap and yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Speak for itself. Yep. King Yohannes: So and then I Cefore X. Plosives: We'll make we'll make sure that this is that's a clip. So that'll that'll po we'll post that one. We'll make King Yohannes: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Ha King Yohannes: Yeah. I tell I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): ha ha. King Yohannes: told Big Daddy King 'cause he he t recently took a picture with him 'cause he just did the the I don't wanna say the term right wrong. It was like a event. The B B O or Coalition, black coalition, or something like that. Something like that. I don't want to butcher the name, but he was at an event and he was doing a present presentation for Favor Flavor Flave. And somebody else from the Juice Crew, I believe. And then I seen him post again and he was with Common. And I messaged him. And I was like, Cefore X. Plosives: The BMA scene. King Yohannes: yes, the BMAC. he was he was took a picture with Common and I messaged him. I said, Man, I want to work with Carmen so bad. And I told him what I just told y'all, what I said. I said, I say this to him every time in his live and everything. So if you ever put the word out, just tell him the guy that always tells you this in your live wants to work with you. And everything. He j he he laughed. He said, My man, I got you. So but yeah, one day that's that's who I hope hope to work with. anybody else I always wanted to work with Jada Kiss. I still would wanna work more work with him and everything. Jada Kiss is one of my all-time favorite MCs rappers Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm. King Yohannes: and everything. I I like Jada Kiss a lot because there's not one verse in any song where I feel he failed us on hip hop. And that's not just cause he was on the record with King. I I always I I always felt that way about Jadakiss. Like Jadakiss Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: never missed a beat in any verse in any song that he did. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): No days off. King Yohannes: Yeah. Like he I d I believe he deserved his flowers more than what Is is given to him. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: But yeah, Jada Kiss is definitely definitely one of the heavy hitters in everything in industry. Definitely top five dead alive. Like yeah, he's up there. Jada Kiss, you know, I would like to work Cefore X. Plosives: You know, Rock Hem Rock Hemp's cooking again, dog. King Yohannes: I that's another person that I would like to Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah, he is. King Yohannes: work with. I would like to work with Rockham. I would love to work with Rockham on Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Another one that changed the game. King Yohannes: Joining Lucas is another one. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That would be dope. Yep. King Yohannes: Yeah, I met him a few times. He actually for the the record call Moonshine that I produced with Saya Law. He was actually in the studio and he gave his input on the the production part. He was like, Hey, if you take the drums out, the first half of this record and just rap and then let the beat drums drop halfway through is gonna sound perfect and everything. At first I was like, you know, I was one of those producers, like, don't touch my beat, don't do this. I made it this way. Yeah, Cefore X. Plosives: Don't touch my last man. King Yohannes: leave it like that. Don't change nothing. But when he did it and I heard it and I was listening to Sy rap and how the drums dropped at the right time, I said, Ha, this is actually dope and everything. So when Cy had a performance in Boston, I met a journey there. We didn't get to really talk too much, but we dapped it up and I just don't thank you for your input on the record. You know, appreciate your you know, your knowledge on you know, making a record be what it's supposed to be. So and everything. So I like, Yeah, I hope to work with you at some point. He was like, Yeah, let's lock in. We didn't lock in numbers or nothing yet, but I like, Well, probably worry about that 'cause I, you know, through sign so everything will connect the way it needed to connect when it's time. But yeah, that's another person. as of right now, yes. I want I'm trying to I'm trying to flood beats through all of Wu Tang members and everything. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: But I'm definitely aiming for a lot of the legends too though and everything because a lot of them still got it. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. 'Cause the comeback is happening. yeah, they do. King Yohannes: Yeah, I don't think they should have ever stopped. But I I Cefore X. Plosives: You know. King Yohannes: get why the music industry is doing, like they try to make it a young man sport Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: and everybody Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): 'Cause old guys have nothing but lessons and they're King Yohannes: Right. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): trying to keep people stupid. King Yohannes: Right. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: But the we we I say we, we're bringing it back 'cause I feel like everybody still need to keep going. So you know, that's my mission. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yes, sir. King Yohannes: I still would like to work with some of the younger artists and everything, but I think it could be done. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): You gotta be saying something. King Yohannes: Yeah. Like like for one artist that I think that's real dope, that changed everything around. is the the drill rapper in New York, Fabio Foreign. He used to do a lot of drill music and, you know, it was a lot of violence. Whatever happened in his life or whatever, he you could tell he met Guy. And and his whole his whole energy and music is different. And everything everything everything he rap about is about God now. So and the and it's on drill beats and it sounds better than the music he was making before. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: So I'm like, dang, this is fire. I still rock with the old stuff, but I'm like, a gospel rap on a drill beat? I was like, and I always said that because I was making drill, I was making drill beats before drills drill got popping. I was making and they used to make fun of me and say those are like video game beats or techno Tetris type of beats. They used to make fun of it and everything. So when Yeah, and then when Pop Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Now look King Yohannes: Smoke came out and everything, I was like, these are dope. And then they w you know, it got it got a bad light because of the violence that came behind drill music. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: But I was like, yo, if you just utilize that energy to talk about something else, the drill music would be fire. I was like, if you just talk about something else, the beat is gonna hit. And the way he did it, he proved it. Like when they started doing the RB music with drill, I was like, see, that's what I'm talking about. But then how Fabio changed it up. And just did it gospel rap basically on drill beats. I said, Yeah. See, that's what I'm talking about. I was like, you can't Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): There it is. Yeah. King Yohannes: say there's no violence in that and everything. I like what it is, what it sounds like is it just sound like the the the hand of God is coming down to smack some sense into you on the production Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: now. Like that's what it sounds like now. So Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm-hmm. King Yohannes: but yeah, that's that's one person that that's dope that I've been watching that's though. I wouldn't mind working with him. too and everything. I like the shift that he's going and everything. D1, he's dope. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm. Yeah, yes. King Yohannes: He actually did the bars open challenge too. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): hell yeah. King Yohannes: Yeah, that was dope. That was dope. But yeah, those are mainly the legends. A lot of the legends I would like to work with. Cefore X. Plosives: I can see you working with doing a joint for RA the Rugged Man. He did he did Deck was on his alb actually Deck Go face and Master Killer were all on his last album. King Yohannes: Hmm? Cefore X. Plosives: R. A. the Rugged Man. King Yohannes: that that'll be dope. Cefore X. Plosives: He's fucking dope, dude. He he got man. That's one that got blackballed out of the industry real quick because they didn't want Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Mm. Cefore X. Plosives: him to he wanted to be they wanted him to be like vanilla ice because he came when he started that's that was that was him and then he had he he did he said he'll do the showcase. It was like a big show, you know how back in the days they had showcases like all the artists were there, you know what I'm saying? All the all the And then he so he did they didn't know the label that he was gonna he was g he that invited him. He didn't tell them what track they were doing and he was gonna do and he did a track called Every Every Label Could Suck My Dick. And then so so he got blackballed out of the industry, you know what I'm saying? But it was actually King Yohannes: yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: the the best thing for Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: him, you know what I'm saying? 'Cause he worked with everybody at that after that, you know what I'm saying? Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: And he is so dope. He is so dope. He did that Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): So dope. Cefore X. Plosives: That joint that joint he did with Inspector Deck was called EKNY. I'ma eighty eight man man, it's fire dog. Yeah. Yeah, his last album was dope. And he's got a track called I think it's called Dragonfire with Ghostface. I think Massa Killer's on it. It was like a gangle dude. Chris Rivers, I think, is on there. Like, man, everybody's on that joint. King Yohannes: I would like to work with Chris Rivers. Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): How we go. King Yohannes: Yeah. I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That that that group that he has with Denzo Porter and OCD, I think it's called OCD. That boy, I love watching them on YouTube. Like when I'm working, I'll have them up and then just watching their performances and shit like that. Cause it's not just the music, but it's like the performance of it all that they put together. my god, so good. Cefore X. Plosives: That's like Coast Contra, man. They fucking King Yohannes: I was just I was just about to say I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): coast. Hey, I listen to Coast when I'm golfing. King Yohannes: Yeah, I I I need I need Coast Contra to hit me up. I I did a I actually use one of their freestyles for a sample challenge that I did for Ski Beats. 'Cause he Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: he does this SmackPack challenge and stuff that he be doing. And I did the Coast Contra flip. And I and I the beat was so hard that Kane was pissed off with me. 'Cause Cefore X. Plosives: I want that to King Yohannes: Yeah, he was like he was like, Come on, man. I was Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: like, What happened? He was like, I thought we was cool. He's texting me like I thought we was cool. I thought we was brothers, man. I'm like, We are, what happened? I'm panicking, like, what did I do? Did I mess up something? Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: I'm like, he about to cut me off. I'm like, What Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: happened? He was and I'm like, Dad, if somebody else got the beat, like did I send a beat to him that somebody else got? He like, yo I can't believe you would do this to me with music, bro. And I'm like, what happened? And he posted the the Cost Contra. He like, this shit fire, bro. Why didn't you send me this? Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: And I was like, I was a king, this is for a competition. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): My better. King Yohannes: I was like, if you want it though, I I'll I'll I'll I'll g I'll give it to you. But by the time we had that conversation, the the viewer already had like a thousand likes, a thousand comments and stuff. And then he was like, nah, too many people done seen it and heard it now, King. And I was like, dang it. And I was like, man. But I end up I ended up winning what is it called? XT. I got it somewhere near me. I forgot the name of it. But it's a hardware. right here. I ended up winning one of these. I made a beat like once on it, but Cefore X. Plosives: yeah, those are dope. King Yohannes: Yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: Yeah, I end up winning one of these. But Cold's Contra they actually liked the video too. So I was like, cool, that's dope. They pick they peaked it. Cefore X. Plosives: That's the end. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: But I haven't I haven't been able to fully Yeah, that's that's definitely a group that I would want to work with. Cause they give they give Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Hell yeah. King Yohannes: me like that o that young Wu Tang s vibe too. They they they Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. King Yohannes: performance and how they rap. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: So no. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yep. They're bringing the nineties style. Like the everything's super tight with them. Cefore X. Plosives: Mm-hmm. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And they're just they just give you nothing but heat. Just and boy, King Yohannes: Yeah. I got I Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): the little Puerto Rican one, not little, I don't know how big it is, but the Puerto Rican one that'd be bilingual s code switching mid mid bar. shut the fuck up King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah, he he be doing his thing. I definitely I got beats for them. Definitely got some beats for them. I thought Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. King Yohannes: they would go crazy on some joints that I had. Cefore X. Plosives: I wanna speak one more into existence. I want I want Ken Johannes to do a track for Red Man. King Yohannes: That would be fire. Yeah. Me and Ray. Crazy. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Ooh, that'd be fire. Redman is Redman is Cefore X. Plosives: These he's what he's wanna he's in my top ten for sure. Red man is Reggie Noble. King Yohannes: Yeah. If if I if I got if I got Redman I gotta have his brother Metaman in there. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I gotta have both of them. That'll be fine. Cefore X. Plosives: That's it. You know what I'm saying? Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): that's easy. That's an easy one. Math is special too. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah, Met the Man is fire. And I I actually met his through a friend of mine's that that I did music with. He was at Goods slick talk show where they do the freestyling and everything there. And Met the Man's daughter was there too. And my boy called me. He was like, Yo, bro, this is King Johannes. He was he was promoting me heavy. He was like, He did the bars over chest Big Daddy King, lock in. So we we locked in. at each other on Instagram and you know at some point we're gonna do some work and stuff so that Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Hell yeah. King Yohannes: yeah so hopefully that that that stuff does it I won't say hopefully we're gonna speak it into existence Cefore X. Plosives: So King Yohannes: it's gonna happen Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Hard work is gonna hard work leads to all this. Hard work. What is it? Luck is where hard work and opportunity meet. It don't luck just don't. I mean, some folks get lucky, but not when you work. It's not luck. That shit is supposed to be. It's supposed to be. we are up over two and a half hours, and I have another interview here in a little bit. So that's the only reason I'm cutting this shit short because this is wonderful. I love I love everything about this conversation. The fact that you became you like You speak it into existence and then you just work to make it happen. And then it happens. And then to know that like you're that dude, but you're still so humble. Cefore X. Plosives: There's so much so much more of the journey to be left. King Yohannes: Yes. Yeah, definitely more. There's a lot more that needs to come to light that I'm waiting on. And then as I'm waiting on it, I'm just still manifesting and working on my music and everything 'cause I'm s staying ready so I don't have to get ready. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's King Yohannes: So Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah. And you know what? And Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): it. That's it. Cefore X. Plosives: and you're a positive role model for yourself. King Yohannes: Definitely appreciate it. Yeah. He he just walked he just walked in Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): For a lot of people's sons. For a lot of people's sons. Yeah. King Yohannes: right right right in a minute ago. He just came in and said, Hey dad. I said, Hey son. So Yeah. Yeah, he he's been he's been going Cefore X. Plosives: That's it, man. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): That's awesome. That's awesome. Hell yeah. Live that life, kid. King Yohannes: crazy. Even on the the breakfast club when they mentioned my name and everything. He was like, Dad, they said your name on the Breakfast Club And I was like, Yes Cefore X. Plosives: I saw that, yeah. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): And he's like, hell yeah, they did. Better recognize. Cefore X. Plosives: You didn't hear it, I'm gonna play it again. King Yohannes: Yeah. Yeah, that was dope. I didn't even think he was gonna say my name. I was watching the whole interview. Then I was like, he ain't gonna I was like, I'm I'm a new producer, I ain't you know, that name ain't ain't ain't worth mentioning right now. Like that, and they next thing you know, my son yelling at my daughter, and then they like, He said your name. I rewind it, he was like, Yeah, the Wu-Tang sound. I'm like I said, I'm clipping this. Yeah. Cefore X. Plosives: Yeah, yeah Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. All right. Well, thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to come and hang out with us. Congratulations on all the all the success. Again, when it's supposed to happen, it's supposed to happen. And it's just like it just seems like that's it. Like you off and running now, kid. King Yohannes: Yes sir. Yes sir. Appreciate y'all. Thank you for having me. Cefore X. Plosives: Hundred percent. Appreciate you, dog. Carlos Gomez (Coconut Justice): Yeah. And with that, everybody, we're out.
