US ambassador to Israel: timing was right for the US-mediated maritime agreement
U.S. ambassador to Israel Tom Nides said the U.S.-mediated maritime border agreement reached between Israel and Lebanon was “historic.” In an interview with KAN’s diplomatic reporter Gili Cohen, Nides dismissed charges that it was timed before the Knesset elections, saying that there was an opportunity to make a deal and that the United States believes that it would benefit both Israel and Lebanon. He added that the US was in no way intervening in internal Israeli politics.
