- 0:34time is it? It's time war War. Here's your host, one hundred
- 0:40percent raw Truth, one hundred percent American Maid the Warrior, Wayne Alan Root.
- 0:57All Right, ladies and gentlemen, Welcome, Welcome, Wealthcare to the
- 1:00USA Audio Network. The show is raw and unfiltered, and yes, your
- 1:03host is Wayne Allen. Really, if you've been paying attention, It's Friday,
- 1:07the last Friday of March twenty twenty four, and on Fridays, Wayne
- 1:12gives me the first hour to get you all warmed up as he gets ready
- 1:15to rock and roll, and he'll hit the airwaves in exactly sixty minutes.
- 1:19Our pal Christopher is doing his thing down there in Dallas, Texas, keeping
- 1:23us on the air from one coast to another. So normally, in my
- 1:29opening monologues, I rant and rave about something and then usually bring out a
- 1:34couple of guests during the course of the hour. But what I'm going to
- 1:36do here to open things up because it's that important as we lost a great
- 1:40politician, a great leader, Joe Lieberman. Senator Lieberman died this week,
- 1:45and sitting right across from me right now in my home studio here in Connecticut,
- 1:49is a friend of his, former congressman, former CIA agent, Vietnam
- 1:55veteran, been on with me for I don't know, maybe fifteen years,
- 2:00and Rob Simmons is going to join us. So Rob, let's just roll
- 2:04through it. I'm going to get out of your way, let you do
- 2:06your thing, and just tell me about your relationship with the now past Senator
- 2:13Joseph Lieberman. He first kind of crossed my radar screen big time in the
- 2:22year two thousand. I was running for Congress. I'd spent ten years as
- 2:27a state representative. I'd worked in the Senate for seven years as a staffer
- 2:31for John Chaffey of Rhode Island, and as a staffer chief of staff for
- 2:37Barry Goldwater for four years. And I was running against Sam Gagerson. Now
- 2:44it was a complicated race because Sam was Jewish and he was the son of
- 2:49Holocaust survivors, and Joe Lieberman was on the ticket with Al Gore as vice
- 2:57president, the first Jewish candidate for vice president running here in the state of
- 3:04Connecticut. And so everyone told me, first of all, they said,
- 3:08well, Rob, you know, you don't have a chance, no way
- 3:12out. You can't raise the money. You're you're a Republican to begin with.
- 3:15You can't raise the money. You're a spy with a CIA. Nobody
- 3:21likes spies. They don't trust me spies if you're a Vietnam veteran. And
- 3:23even back in those days, being a Vietnam veteran was not considered something that
- 3:30was worthy of respect or election. You know, it took years to get
- 3:38rid of the bad taste of the war among liberals here in the state of
- 3:43Connecticut. Some some still have it. I continue, I continue to be
- 3:49accused of being a war criminal by people starting with Sam but then keeps going
- 3:53and and I said, well, okay, I'm just going to do my
- 3:58thing and do my best. And I won the race. Joe lost.
- 4:01I won, He remained a Senator, And our first real interaction was on
- 4:08nine to eleven, which was some months later in Washington, d C.
- 4:12We attended a briefing of the Capitol Police on the day of the attack,
- 4:16and the Capitol Police told us that it was a terrorist attack. They'd taken
- 4:21out the World Trade Center, they'd blown up a section of the Pentagon,
- 4:27and it apparent, it was apparent to the Capitol police that the third plane,
- 4:31the final plane, I should be say, the fourth plane, Flight
- 4:34ninety three, was heading for the Capitol. And following the briefing, the
- 4:40Capitol Police announced that the leadership the House and Senate leadership Republican and Democrat,
- 4:46eight people would go to the Capital steps for brief comments, but nobody else
- 4:57was to go because it wasn't safe. And as we went out of the
- 5:00building, I saw Senator Lieberman and I went over to him and I said,
- 5:05Senator, I'm inclined to go to the Capitol steps. He said,
- 5:10well, they told us we're not supposed to go because it's not safe.
- 5:14I said, yeah, but if it's not safe, why are the leaders
- 5:18going? And he said, well, I think you have a point.
- 5:23I said, oh, what should we do? And he said, let's
- 5:28go. And so Senator Lieberman a big shot, and Rob Simmons said,
- 5:32nobody really nobody, absolutely nobody. We're walking together over to the Capitol steps.
- 5:40Now, unlike a lot of situations that you get into with House and
- 5:44Senate. And yes, I've worked in the Senate, so I understood the
- 5:47culture of the House and the Senate. The senators don't pay any attention to
- 5:51House members. They're rabble, you know they're the House member. They're crazy
- 5:56people, common folk. Yeah, kud Well during the State of the Union
- 5:59address, yell and scream, they wear funny clothes. They embarrassed, right,
- 6:03They're an embarrassment. You don't want to sit with them. But here
- 6:08I was walking with with the junior senator from Connecticut over the Capitol steps on
- 6:14nine to eleven, an incredible day, and we stood in the crowd.
- 6:20He was a little more upfront than I was, but h and we stood
- 6:25and nobody's trying to grab the microphone. Everyone's being very quiet. And then
- 6:30when the speeches were over, and I don't even remember what the speeches were
- 6:33about. I could hardly hear them, and they weren't memorable. But what
- 6:36was memorable was somebody began singing God Bless America. And there you had it.
- 6:42You had Republicans, you had Democrats. You had women, you had
- 6:45men, you had gay, you had straight, you had Alaska, and
- 6:48you had Louisiana and Connecticut. You had the whole range of America and represented
- 6:58in that crowd, which was not every A lot of people just went home,
- 7:01but there was about I would say there was about twenty or thirty senators.
- 7:05There's probably one hundred representatives. And that was one of the great days
- 7:11for America. To me, one of the greatest days. When ever people
- 7:15saying, yeah, well, we've never been more divided, Well, guess
- 7:16what, we were never more united. And that was my first interaction with
- 7:24Senator Lieberman, and it was a very positive one. The second one had
- 7:30the second big one. I mean, we worked on a lot of stuff
- 7:32together, environmental stuff, we worked on legislation for Long Island Sound and so
- 7:38on. But the second big event was the closing of the base. The
- 7:45Base Realignment and Closure Committee was going to make an announcement about the submarine base
- 7:51and Joe Lieberman came to New London and he sat in the office with me
- 8:00and Kathy Cook and some of the local state representatives and state senators. Chris
- 8:07Dodd wasn't there. He was busy he had other things to do, so
- 8:11he wasn't there, but Joe Lieberman was there, and as we sat and
- 8:16waited, I said, we need to have a plan, because on military
- 8:24we always have a plan. I said, we have to consider. If
- 8:30nothing closes, then we're going to celebrate, but we're going to work to
- 8:35make sure that that continues to be the case. If they closed something like
- 8:41they're going to close the school, then we have to have a plan to
- 8:46fight to get it back in. And the third and least likely situation is
- 8:54if they close everything, then we have to fight, like help, because
- 9:01we cannot afford to lose the base. So I said, I see these
- 9:05as three responses. Because whatever happens, there's going to be a press conference
- 9:09across the street in a hotel because it had already been planned. They're going
- 9:13to want to know what we're going to do, and we have to be
- 9:18ready for it. And part of that was military training, part of it
- 9:22was working for Senator Schapei and Senator Gowater. As a staffer, you always
- 9:26had to have the options on the table. And I was surprised because Lieberman
- 9:31didn't interrupt. He agreed with it, and so then we sat there and
- 9:35waited and his phone rang. We're waiting for the phone at the office to
- 9:41ring because we had people in Washington, DC that were going to report back.
- 9:46But Liberprint's cell phone rang. He had a staffer down there, and
- 9:50he took it up and he said, yes, yes, really really okay,
- 9:56thank you, and he hung up and he looked at all of us
- 10:01and he said complete closure. And the room went silent. We were stunned.
- 10:13And in a situation like that, as a Democrat senator, he could
- 10:20look at me and say, Rob that's that's a real shame that your president,
- 10:26because it was Bush is closing your base. If there's anything I can
- 10:31do to help, good luck and give me a call. And all of
- 10:35the Democrats in the room could have said the same to me, and Kathy
- 10:39Cook, damn shame. Jodi Rowl is the governor. Now she can maybe
- 10:43she can figure something out. See you later. They could have, because
- 10:46there's going to be a press conference. Nobody moved and Lieberman said, okay,
- 10:56what were those three things again? And I said, closing permanently,
- 11:03fight like help, We're gonna fight like hell. This is outrageous. You
- 11:07know, this is a national security It's not just the economy of this portion
- 11:11of our state, which would be devastated. It goes to the issue of
- 11:15national security. Submarines won the Cold War, submarines held the line against the
- 11:20Japanese during World War Two, got them to withdraw back. I mean,
- 11:24submarines are critical to our national security. We cannot afford to break this thing
- 11:28up. We got to go out and fight like help and fights y'all did
- 11:31because you ended up saving that base. When we come back, we'll talk
- 11:35a little bit more. Senator Joe Lieberman. Colonel Rob Simmons here with me
- 11:39in the studio. Don't move. You're listening to the USA Audio Network.

- 17:04and unfiltered. Our guest here in the studio. One more segment. We've
- 17:07got Colonel Rob Simmons, who is talking just a little about his relationship with
- 17:14an outpass centenator of Joe Lieberman. And you know, there was a time
- 17:18when Joe was on the fence about whether or not to run Connecticut to turn
- 17:22their back the Democrats, to turn their back on him, and he actually
- 17:26reached out to you and asked you what you thought about him running as an
- 17:30independent. Tell me that story, Rob. He lost a primary to Lamont
- 17:36and I was honored because he called me up and he said I'm thinking of
- 17:41running as an independent. What do you think, I said, I think
- 17:49that's fantastic, because Senator, speaking for myself and for my wife, Heidi,
- 17:57we want the opportunity to be able to vote for you. We don't
- 18:03want you just to disappear, just to concede. Because ned Lamont got a
- 18:11wave of support in the convention from the anti war, anti Bush activists,
- 18:18and you you lost a narrow convention to Ned Lamont. You have proven yourself
- 18:23as a senator who works across party lines. Sometimes our member, Senator you
- 18:30called, you called yourself a dino, a Democratic name only. Well I'm
- 18:36a rhino. So so you see, we rhinos and we dinos have to
- 18:40we have to stick together. We're moderates. I'm I'm proud to be a
- 18:44Republican. I worked for Chaffey and goal Order, and he was proud to
- 18:48be a Democrat. But sometimes your party turns against you and you know you
- 18:52can't run away. So I hope you'll run as an independent. And he
- 18:57did, and he won, and he continued to serve. I had a
- 19:03book that he wrote called in Praise. I think it was in praise of
- 19:07public life. In praise of public life short book. He wrote seven books,
- 19:14and I love that book as a great book because in that book he
- 19:18told me, and he told the reader why he was in public life.
- 19:23Obviously, he wasn't in it to make money the way some of the others,
- 19:27you know, like Biden. Biden was in it to make money.
- 19:30Obviously Pelosi made money. A lot of the others Clinton's made money. He
- 19:36wasn't in it to make money. He wasn't poor, but he wasn't wealthy.
- 19:41He was in it because, in his view, there can be no
- 19:47higher calling than to serve your community in a public position. Now, too
- 19:55bad, it wasn't vice president. Too bad. He ran for Congress in
- 19:59law. I used to joke with him about that, said, you know,
- 20:03Senator, I remember when you ran for Congress and you lost. Of
- 20:06course I didn't remember. I made it up, but I knew he'd lost.
- 20:08Uh, And so he would he would laugh. He said, yeah,
- 20:12you got that one on me. But he really believed in public life.
- 20:17And he wrote this short book. And anybody, anybody who ever wants
- 20:18to get into politics from my from my standpoint, get his book and read
- 20:22it. That's what it's all about. It's not all about fame and fortune,
- 20:26and oh there are a lot of them out there that are in it
- 20:27for fame and fortune. It's about service, and it's about the joy of
- 20:33giving of your time and your talent and in some cases your treasure if you
- 20:37have the money for a good purpose. It's about giving, not getting,
- 20:41not taking, not bringing back to yourself, but putting out and giving.
- 20:45And he believed in that, and so do I, and so do others
- 20:48like him, like like Nancy Johnson or Chris Chay's that I know very well
- 20:52believed in the same thing. So losing Joe Lieberman. Even even last week
- 20:57when when Schumer came out against Israel, I call it against Israel, Schumann
- 21:02said, well, I'm just trying to help the Israelis because I'm the highest
- 21:06ranking Jewish politician in America. He wasn't helping the Israelis. He was hurting
- 21:10him. He's trying to help the reelection bid of Joe Biden and the re
- 21:14election bid of Democrats who were under the gun from the from Muslim Americans who
- 21:22consider hamas heroes. And he conceded, and and Lieberman came out and challenged
- 21:26him on that and called his comments outrageous I mean, that's Joe Lieberman.
- 21:30He didn't have to do that, he's retired, but he did it because
- 21:34that's what he believes. And so I'm going to miss him. I think
- 21:41Connecticut is going to miss having a senator like that. It's hard to replicate.
- 21:47And I think I think the whole country is going to lose because we
- 21:52don't have a lot of Joe Lieberman's anymore. God bless you, Joe,
- 21:59and keep you now and forever. I'm then, Colonel Rob Simmons going back
- 22:03a little bit telling you a story or two about Senator Joe Lieberman and not
- 22:08only what he meant to the yesterday to Connecticut, but what he meant to
- 22:11the country in general. So Rob, thank you very very much for doing
- 22:15that. I appreciate it very much. And again, I've had a number
- 22:18of different conversations with the Center, or had a number of different conversations with
- 22:22the Center in the past, and they have always been nothing short of spectacular.
- 22:27He's one of the nicest, what's one of the nicest people ever in
- 22:32this business to get a chance to sit and talk to all Right, well,
- 22:33take a short break, we'll come right back. Everyone stick around.

- 30:21back, special guest joining us. This is interesting. I saw the title
- 30:25of this gravitated towards it. Our guest Drew Allen Drew Thomas Allen, author
- 30:33of America's Last Stand? Will you vote to Save or Destroy America? In
- 30:37twenty twenty four, But the phrase that popped up and popped out at me
- 30:44was the United States isn't the world's trash can. Unfortunately, it seems Drew
- 30:48that it is. Look under the Democrat Party and the Biden administration, their
- 30:52policies, their ideology. Course, I mean, yes, for them,
- 30:55America absolutely is the world's trash can. But of course for rat saying people
- 31:00who love this country, it is not America's trash can. And the point
- 31:04of immigration is not to help other countries offload their poor and their rapists and
- 31:08their murders. It's to do one thing, and that's improve America. That
- 31:12is the criteria. And we have it backwards, don't we We have it
- 31:15backwards. I've been talking to my listeners about this for the past week.
- 31:19I ran across a couple of these videos showing, you know, block after
- 31:23block, almost mile after miles. Some of these cities, burned out cars,
- 31:27know, basically a tense city, garbage everywhere, human feces, waste.
- 31:33It just it's like a third world country and it's right here twenty twenty
- 31:37four in America. Yeah, it is. And it just shows how effective
- 31:41I think in some ways. Now, look, well, I'll let me
- 31:42preface this way. You know, a lot of what's happening. Actually,
- 31:45most Americans vehemently oppose and disagree with. I mean, the border issue is
- 31:51one of the number one concerns for voters and Americans. So you have the
- 31:55Democrats in Biden, of course, in these courts intervening to force this on
- 31:59the American people. But there are many Americans who vamboo who have been bamboozled
- 32:04for a long time, that believe, you know, yes, you know,
- 32:07you know, it's America's responsibility. It's look when when kind of liberals,
- 32:13you know, cheer on like we have to let these other people come
- 32:16into the country and so on and so forth. Notice how it's always them
- 32:20escaping responsibility too, Right, It's always someone else's job to help these poor.
- 32:23It's someone else's job. The government's gonna do it. But really it's
- 32:27affecting all of us, and people need to look at this country like we
- 32:30own it, like it belongs to us, like it's a child or something
- 32:34that we're supposed to care for. Because we don't have that mentality. We
- 32:37just think we live in some amorphous place that happens to be called the United
- 32:40States and do whatever the heck you want to it because you know, I
- 32:43don't have any responsibility. I just live here. It's not gonna affect me.
- 32:45It's very bizarre because you know, it's like Benjamin Franklin said when he
- 32:50came out in Independence Hall in seventeen eighty seven when they were trying to finalize
- 32:53the constitution, and a woman asked him, you know what kind of government
- 32:57we had, and he said, a republic if you can keep it.
- 33:00That tells you everything you need to know, because it's our responsibility to keep
- 33:02this country up, and we just let them, you know, throw trash
- 33:06everywhere. What's the basic premise of the book itself? Well, sure,
- 33:09I mean in some ways I had you know, I guess Cajon's because you
- 33:14know, basically, I started writing this book last year, and I wrote
- 33:16a book that was intended to persuade the American people to vote for Trump in
- 33:22twenty twenty four. So a lot of people were still saying, well,
- 33:23we don't know who the candidates are finally going. If I said no,
- 33:25it's going to be Trump versus Biden, or send Democrat, they substitute in
- 33:30the last minute. And so I wanted people to understand just how serious twenty
- 33:32twenty four was. It's on the same scale as importance as seventeen seventy six
- 33:37and eighteen sixty one. People need to understand the gravity. That's the most
- 33:40important part of my book helping people understand that. And then of course I
- 33:44chronicle the absolute failures historic failures of the Biden administration. And you know,
- 33:50I mean I persuade people as best I can, using all kinds of arguments.
- 33:52Of course, addressing all the naysayers too, about why it's imperative if
- 33:57they vote for Trump in twenty twenty four or we are going to lose the
- 34:00country. I mean, it'll be called the United States. But this is
- 34:04a critical point in American history where we're going to decide whether we continue on
- 34:07a path that statting fathers a step forward for us, or if we're going
- 34:10to abandon that path. That's really where we are as a country. So
- 34:15you must get in the same sort of frame of mind that I get in
- 34:16if I'm having a conversation with one of these progressives, because you just talked
- 34:20about how, you know, a lot of the people are on our side,
- 34:23I guess when it comes to illegal immigration. Yet still, you know,
- 34:27we see poll numbers that have this race relatively close, and I know
- 34:31that's maybe born out of Trump hatred, and there's a lot of that.
- 34:36I mean, are you as dumbfounded when you're having a conversation with somebody about
- 34:40the common sense issues we can always debate about, you know, the real
- 34:45Democrat issues and real Republican issues, but the common sense issues like don't let
- 34:51ten million people come across the southern border, only chaos can happen. That's
- 34:55a common sense issue. Are you dumbfounded when somebody will try to argue to
- 35:00the contrary to that? I am. I'm as dumbfounded when I talk to
- 35:04somebody about the immigration issue that would disagree as I am with somebody who thinks
- 35:07the Second Amendment was you know, for hunting. I mean, you have
- 35:10so many ignorant people who bought the propaganda and the lies from the left for
- 35:15so long, taking over the schools and indoctrinated people to believe these things that
- 35:20are fundamentally untrue. And we've gotten to a point where it's very difficult to
- 35:23even persuade people because the quote unquote facts that they think they are in possession
- 35:30of are outright lies. So, you know, I mean that Second Amendment
- 35:32issue. I mean, it's very clear, there's no debate over why we
- 35:37have a second Amendment. It's not to go hunting. It's to protect ourselves,
- 35:43give us autonomy as well, but to protect ourselves from you know,
- 35:46tyranny in the future. But you have people who believe, you know,
- 35:52no, the Founding fathers just you know, oh, they couldn't imagine that
- 35:54you could have AR fifteen says, what are you talking about? You know,
- 35:58it's like it's just insane saying the circular logic here. And then of
- 36:01course, I think the thing that bothers me the most. So it's a
- 36:05differentiation between kind of conservative right wing Americans and the left is they will change
- 36:12their ideas based on whatever the left and the Democrat Party tells them. So
- 36:15you know, their ideas are downstream from the Party. Our problem on the
- 36:19right is we're conservatives, so we actually our principles and values actually derived from
- 36:23God, from our understanding of the country and the founding, and so we're
- 36:27always pressuring the Republican Party to conform to those ideas. So we're not Actually,
- 36:31you can't. You can't as a conservative, a Republican say hey,
- 36:35I support in fantaside today, and then all Republican voters and Christians say,
- 36:38okay, yeah, we support that too. But on the left, that's
- 36:42what they do. It's bizarre, it's so you're so accurate on that's a
- 36:45bullseye statement. In fact, we were actually talking about that just a couple
- 36:47of days ago, how the Democrats all circle the wagons, and if I
- 36:51were to listen, I'm not the biggest supporter of Trump. I think he's
- 36:54the the answer for what we have now, the two of them. There's
- 36:58no there's no obviously, there's no arguing the choice. You've got to go
- 37:02with Trump. Otherwise, like you said, we're going down this ugly rabbit
- 37:06hole that I don't know if we can ever come out. But if he
- 37:08were to come out and out of spite say you know what, I'm I'm
- 37:12just going to open the border up and let illegals come across by the thousands.
- 37:15I would yell and scream about it behind this microphone, you'd write about
- 37:20it, because we have common sense and in the end, it's the country
- 37:22that we love we're trying to protect that. It's not a party situation with
- 37:25most of us, no, exactly, you know, it's it's and that's
- 37:31why I really, I mean, the left projects everything on to the right,
- 37:34I mean right, but they're their true cults because whether it's the COVID
- 37:38issue, or whether it was COVID and vaccines, or whether it's you know,
- 37:43kind of man made climate change, if you will, you know the
- 37:45left, you know, they will follow their leaders who lie to them over
- 37:51and over again and who do not even abide by the very things that they
- 37:54demand from their followers. So you know, with with COVID and lockdowns,
- 38:00you know, it's like Gavin Newsom and Nanty Pelosi and everybody who were the
- 38:02proponents of lockdowns, they weren't. They were breaking the rules themselves and it
- 38:07didn't upset a lot of Democrat voters. And with global you know, mandade
- 38:12comment changes they call it. Now, you know, they don't care that
- 38:15all the big proponents of of you know, climate change and taking away our
- 38:20liberty in the name of saving the planet, they don't care that they fly
- 38:22around in private jets and they don't abide by the very things that they demand
- 38:25their followers. So it's just, you know, I have a little bit
- 38:29of sadness actually for people on the left, because they have no sense of
- 38:34self esteem or self worth that they will allow themselves to blindly follow these people
- 38:38that obviously have no respect for them. Again, we're talking with Drew Thomas
- 38:44Allen, his book America's Last Dan. Your website as I'm looking at it
- 38:46right now, Drew is, let me make sure I get this right.
- 38:50Drewallen dot substack dot com. You can take a look at that. You've
- 38:52got a podcast too. Yeah, I've got a podcast, the Drew Allen
- 38:57Show, and then I do a Saturday show on Patriot TV, which is
- 39:00kind of an upstart at General Flynn. He's on the board of that.
- 39:05So that's that's on Saturday. The plays. But yeah, yeah, so
- 39:08staying busy. Yeah, it sounds like you are all right, bust out
- 39:12your crystal ball, tell me what you think is going to happen in the
- 39:15twenty twenty four election at the top, and then tell me what you think
- 39:19has to happen if you know for Trump to win. Yeah, I mean,
- 39:23look, I think that Biden has no chance at reelection if we can
- 39:28get the cheating under control as best we can. I think that the reality
- 39:34is Trump is way more popular than a lot of people, especially in the
- 39:37left in the media wants you to believe, because they want you to be
- 39:40sheepish about your support of him. But I think that he'll win. But
- 39:45I think you're going to see the worst is yet to come by the Democrats
- 39:49reaction to this. You know, it's going to be Trump Russia collusion two
- 39:52point zero. And the same people that wanted to put a lot of people
- 39:54in prison for questioning the election results in twenty twenty, well, they're going
- 39:59to be insisting that, you know, Trump be overthrown if he wins.
- 40:04All right, lit'ten. Tell everybody where they can get your book, Yep,
- 40:07the best place is Amazon. Still America's last stand? Will you vote
- 40:10to state or destroy America in twenty twenty four? All right, I appreciate

- 46:06All right. It's always a pleasure to bring on our very good friends from
- 46:08the Heritage Foundation. And we found another one, senior research fellow, border
- 46:13security Immigration. He's got all that, Simon Hankinson is joining us. You
- 46:16know, something happened this week and I wanted to get your opinion on this
- 46:20first too, before we jump to this omnibus bill. Is that all the
- 46:23Senate Democrats voted against barring taxpayer funds to fly illegal migrants to US towns.
- 46:30And just in a general sense, have we lost our mind? We lost
- 46:35right now? Well, you know, I try to be optimistic. I
- 46:38have kids who are just starting out in the world and looking for their first
- 46:43jobs, and I really do want to believe that America is a Brazilian country.
- 46:46We've been through bad times before and we can bounce back. But I
- 46:50got to say I feel like we're bumping pretty pretty close to the bottom of
- 46:52the of the ravine right now, where we essentially have open borders and a
- 46:58welfare state, where the government is encouraging people to come in unlimited numbers with
- 47:04almost zero restrictions, with no idea who they are, and releasing them into
- 47:07communities at taxpayer expense. And this is just unsustainable, even with Democrat level
- 47:15borrowing and spending. What's behind it then, and what do you believe the
- 47:19result in the end The end result has to be a catastrophe for the country.
- 47:23Again, like you just said, we can't afford this, and we've
- 47:27opened ourselves up to every gang member from Venezuela, every criminal from El Salvador,
- 47:36every drug dealer from Mexico. It's just it's insane that we're allowing this
- 47:39to happen at this level. Yeah, and I get asked that all the
- 47:43time. And the only reasons that I can come up with our number one
- 47:46ideology that there are the whatever fifteen percent of the ultra left it's running the
- 47:52Biden administration's immigration policy just believes that there should be no borders. They believe
- 47:58in what they call abolition of the criminal justice system. Of jails, of
- 48:02courts, and of border enforcement. They just simply don't believe there should be
- 48:07borders a more cynical reason, but I think it's also a prevalent among the
- 48:12kind of you James Carville the schemers in the party is elections. Long term,
- 48:17they feel like most of the people that are letting in would vote Democrats,
- 48:22and that's when they're citizens. And of course in the short term,
- 48:24some of them are going to vote anyway, even though they're not legally entitled
- 48:29to, because it is possible to exploit vulnerabilities in several states, and even
- 48:32if they don't vote, their sheer presence in the census every ten years adds
- 48:37to areas that are predominantly voting Democrat. And Elon Musk the other day side
- 48:43of the reports has said that the Republicans would have another twenty seats in the
- 48:46House of Representatives if it wasn't for the illegal immigrant population pumping up the congressional
- 48:52roles, and it's not doing the job of homeland security. Is this bill
- 48:55similar to the bill that Biden referenced during the State of the Union that Republicans
- 49:02wouldn't pass well. Basically, all it's doing because you know, we haven't
- 49:07passed a real budget for many, many years. So what they do is
- 49:12they pass these continuing resolutions and then they pass these sort of last minute omni
- 49:16books or this one's called a mini bus where they jam everything together. But
- 49:21it essentially repeats what we did last year. So this one, technically,
- 49:25I think it does cut like twenty percent off the funding for NGOs, but
- 49:30that doesn't really do anything at all. The bill it would have done something
- 49:34to secure the border and to cut down on asylum abuse was the HR two
- 49:38Secure the Borders Act, which was passed by the House back in May,
- 49:42in which the Senate hasn't even bothered to pick up. That gets rid of
- 49:45this CDP one application that they're using to parole thirty thousand people in a month
- 49:51and probably another twenty thousand through different routes. It reinstates the state's third country
- 49:58agreement that we had to keep people outside of the United States if they've already
- 50:00crossed through five state countries to get here, and it does a whole bunch
- 50:05of other things to actually reduce the giant magnet that Biden set up from day
- 50:08one. The Senate bill did almost none of those things. Which is why
- 50:13it was such a dog and why Republicans and Democrats who care about border security
- 50:16had to vote it down. It just simply gave more money into the process
- 50:21Paroll and Punt, and no money to securing the boarder. Simon Hankinson is

- 50:29look. And we're talking immigration, and one of my concerns is that we've
- 50:35already let so many people in that not only is the genie out of the
- 50:38bottle and you can't put that quirkback on, but the possibility of fixing this
- 50:45growing catastrophe seems unlikely. Would you say that ten million have come across since
- 50:51Biden? Is that a fair estimate or is that high in your mind?
- 50:54Well, there's a difference between come across and actually released into the Imperial In
- 51:00the beginning of the administration, they had this thing called Title forty two,
- 51:04which they didn't like using. That was the COVID health measure that allowed them
- 51:07to just expel people without even letting them into the asylum process. And they
- 51:12were using it reluctantly for single men, and so it was a certain percentage,
- 51:16maybe forty percent, but over time, they've let in more and more.
- 51:21So now I think Mayorcis, last time he was interviews, said that
- 51:23eighty five percent of the people encountered, in other words, arrested at the
- 51:28border were then released a day or two later. So I would say ten
- 51:32million people were encountered. Well two million people snuck in the god away.
- 51:38Maybe another eight million were encountered, and of those probably half were released.
- 51:45We've seen at least six or seven million people. That's like the population of
- 51:49Ireland, more than the population of Ireland led into the country who otherwise couldn't
- 51:54be here under President Bidence. Simon, I can't thank you enough for shedding
- 51:59some light on this. I appreciate it very much. Where can folks learn
- 52:01more about you? Oh? Well, I'm here at the Heritage Foundation.
