- 0:02Speaker 1: There you go Depeche Mode ghosts again. I can't believe
- 0:06Speaker 1: that they actually got together in nineteen eighty one, blowing me.
- 0:11Speaker 1: It's quite some time again. They're still going strong now, yeah,
- 0:14Speaker 1: still going strongly. Another one on my bucket lists to
- 0:17Speaker 1: go to and see one time. I think we're start
- 0:20Speaker 1: off with your local news and running. I think you've
- 0:23Speaker 1: got bits and pieces.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I'd like to get to get. Make sure I get
- 0:26Speaker 2: this run in because I did a running report on
- 0:29Speaker 2: Thursday about the National cross Country Championships, but I also
- 0:33Speaker 2: had a lot of other stuff to do which I
- 0:35Speaker 2: just didn't have the time. So we start with running. Now,
- 0:40Speaker 2: local athlete Nikki Goodwin. Now, she went off to Seville
- 0:43Speaker 2: and she ran a Seville marathon in a pebe time
- 0:47Speaker 2: of three hours, twenty four and twenty four seconds. Now,
- 0:50Speaker 2: a bit closer to home, Kirsty Wilson from the Folks
- 0:53Speaker 2: and Running and Athletics Club was the first lady in
- 0:56Speaker 2: the stelling a Minister ten k in a time of
- 0:59Speaker 2: forty four minutes and thirty nine seconds. Now. I've known
- 1:02Speaker 2: Kirsty a long time. She's a lovely, lovely, smiley lady.
- 1:06Speaker 2: She is always smiling, even when she's running. I don't
- 1:08Speaker 2: know how she does it, but she's She's done a
- 1:11Speaker 2: couple of marathons, done Manchester, down London, done a Great
- 1:15Speaker 2: North Run, and she got married, got married to Danny,
- 1:20Speaker 2: had a family, came back to running and like most
- 1:24Speaker 2: of us runners, we've never won a race, you know,
- 1:27Speaker 2: we just love our running and we're not good enough
- 1:29Speaker 2: to win a race. But last Sunday Kirsty came first
- 1:33Speaker 2: in first Lady in the Stelein minutes ten k, so massive,
- 1:37Speaker 2: well done to you, Kirsty. Other folks and runners were
- 1:41Speaker 2: James Barney forty one minutes thirty nine, Martin Salmon forty
- 1:44Speaker 2: eight thirty six, Karla Lander fifty two forty six and
- 1:48Speaker 2: Sarah Nunn fifty five twenty four. So I think people
- 1:53Speaker 2: like Kirsty that just loved their running, have been doing
- 1:56Speaker 2: it for a long long time, really deserve an accolade.
- 2:00Speaker 2: And I'm so pleased with you, Kirsty, and I hope
- 2:02Speaker 2: you're listening in. You said you might try and listen in,
- 2:04Speaker 2: So good morning to you and Danny and the family.
- 2:06Speaker 2: So well done. And but I must tell you this
- 2:11Speaker 2: little story. Adrian, did you know his pancake day on Tuesday.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I did not Shrove Tuesday, ye.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Right, okay, well talking about people winning the race, I
- 2:20Speaker 2: have only ever won one race, okay, but it was
- 2:24Speaker 2: I was so pleased as Kirsty's feeling. What it was
- 2:28Speaker 2: when I came to Folkston back in the eighties they
- 2:31Speaker 2: used to have a because it's it just reminded me
- 2:32Speaker 2: because it Shrove Tuesday, they used to have a pancake
- 2:35Speaker 2: race in the in the precinct. I remember that, yeah, right, Well,
- 2:39Speaker 2: the very first time I went in for it, I
- 2:43Speaker 2: actually won it, running up and down with me frying pan.
- 2:46Speaker 2: They gave us like a plastic pancake and anyway, the
- 2:52Speaker 2: thing about it was I came first and I was
- 2:54Speaker 2: so so pleased. And the headline in the Folkston Herald
- 2:58Speaker 2: that that week on the back page, I'll never forget it.
- 3:01Speaker 2: It said Kevin Days the biggest toss of folks and
- 3:04Speaker 2: seen him for a long time.
- 3:08Speaker 1: You can't see him for libel.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I've probably lost me presenting job there, but just reminding
- 3:14Speaker 2: me with Kirsty winning a race and and Shrove Tuesday
- 3:18Speaker 2: coming up, so it's another thing I just want to
- 3:20Speaker 2: ask you, do you know what Canny Cross.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Is not got the clue.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Okay, well the clue is kind of in the word
- 3:28Speaker 2: canine canny cross. Basically, it's running with your dog. So
- 3:33Speaker 2: what you do. I mean it is not specialists, but
- 3:36Speaker 2: you can't just turn up with one of them stretchy leads,
- 3:39Speaker 2: but you have. Canny cross is like a trail run
- 3:42Speaker 2: with a belt. You've got a belt on and you've
- 3:45Speaker 2: got a long lead and the dog's attached and when
- 3:49Speaker 2: you go, the dog polsia and off you go. And
- 3:52Speaker 2: I've only ever compared one canny cross race. It was
- 3:55Speaker 2: so noisy, you know, it was just they were all
- 3:58Speaker 2: barking for England. But I didn't see one little fight
- 4:00Speaker 2: at all. Blind me and anyway, a little sport he
- 4:04Speaker 2: mentioned for two sporty dogs, Marley and Banjo, who belonged
- 4:08Speaker 2: to Jenny and Phil Heathfield. Now, they all took part
- 4:11Speaker 2: in the Ryegate canny Cross five k and a ten k.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Jenny and Marley did the ten k in fifty three
- 4:17Speaker 2: fifty nine and Field did the five k with Banjo
- 4:21Speaker 2: in twenty seven minutes twenty yeah, twenty seven minutes eleven seconds. Now,
- 4:26Speaker 2: both both humans came second in their forty age category.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I'm not sure if there's an age category for dogs,
- 4:32Speaker 2: but I just want to say good morning to Marley.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Morning morning, by morning Marley. Hey, come for a walk, Marley.
- 4:38Speaker 2: He's always listening to in Marley and Banjo Banjo for
- 4:42Speaker 2: a treat. Come on, come on, come on, let's go
- 4:44Speaker 2: for a walk. Come on. To be honest, last time
- 4:47Speaker 2: I mentioned I think it was Marley. Jenny was listening
- 4:51Speaker 2: and I mentioned Marley on the radio and his ears
- 4:53Speaker 2: went up and the okay, I think that's me done.
- 4:57Speaker 2: That's enough for money.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Well funny you should say that my little pug Rosie,
- 5:02Speaker 1: she was eleven yesterday. I see, yeah she's And of
- 5:06Speaker 1: course Sam made me buy a hat for and take
- 5:08Speaker 1: some photograph.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I saw the pictures.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, that hats stayed on for about three seconds
- 5:15Speaker 1: after the photo was taken. Those very funny. You was
- 5:19Speaker 1: mentioning some names of the runners there earlier on there
- 5:22Speaker 1: and you mentioned a certain mister Lee Sentinac. Yes, he
- 5:25Speaker 1: was my goalkeeper for hef seen Newington Sunday morning. So
- 5:28Speaker 1: if you are listening in Lee, good morning, I hope
- 5:31Speaker 1: you're keeping well mate.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, wheelchair basketball, The Folks and Arrows made a
- 5:35Speaker 2: long trip to Southampton at the weekend for the away
- 5:38Speaker 2: fixture against top of the league Hampshire Harriers, and what
- 5:41Speaker 2: a game it must have been as second place Arrows
- 5:44Speaker 2: won the match by the narrowest of margins thirty eight
- 5:47Speaker 2: points to thirty five. Now this now sees the Arrows
- 5:51Speaker 2: still in second place, but they've played three games less
- 5:54Speaker 2: than the Harriers. The next fixture is on Saturday, the
- 5:57Speaker 2: fifteenth of March when they make the trip to Romberton,
- 6:00Speaker 2: just to the west of Cambridge, where they will play
- 6:03Speaker 2: against Herold heat who are just one place behind the
- 6:06Speaker 2: Arrows in third place, so as another epic close encounter
- 6:11Speaker 2: is expected. So yeah, I am just waiting for Ben
- 6:16Speaker 2: Potter and his wife Becky to get back to me.
- 6:18Speaker 2: But they are hoping to come in. It just depends
- 6:20Speaker 2: when they haven't got a game and when they can,
- 6:23Speaker 2: you know, get the wheelchair down here. But we do
- 6:25Speaker 2: hope to have them in at least before the end
- 6:27Speaker 2: of the season so we can have a chat because
- 6:29Speaker 2: they seem to be doing really well. So, talking of quizzes,
- 6:35Speaker 2: which we weren't, I've got some more questions for Adrian Gone.
- 6:39Speaker 2: So some of you listeners out there might recognize them,
- 6:41Speaker 2: but myself and Adrian couldn't go to the radio folks
- 6:44Speaker 2: and quiz night, which was very successful and a big
- 6:47Speaker 2: thank you to Paul Reynolds who engineered all that we've done.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Everyone seemed to have a great evening at the Three Hills.
- 6:53Speaker 2: So I put in a set of sports questions, so
- 6:56Speaker 2: Adrian shouldn't have had any experience of them, so we're
- 7:00Speaker 2: going to test him. There's one interesting one at the
- 7:03Speaker 2: end which he actually put in, so he better get
- 7:06Speaker 2: that one right. Okay, so number one cricketer ian. Both
- 7:10Speaker 2: of them made eleven appearances in the Football League.
- 7:13Speaker 1: For which club Scunthorpe United?
- 7:15Speaker 2: Correct? Now? The Baskerville Shield is a trophy awarded to
- 7:20Speaker 2: the winner between England and New Zealand in which sport
- 7:24Speaker 2: the Baskerville Trophy? And I want two words answer to
- 7:28Speaker 2: this one?
- 7:31Speaker 1: Table tennis?
- 7:32Speaker 2: No good answer though, But it's rugby. But it is
- 7:36Speaker 2: actually rugby league. That's what I was looking for. Who
- 7:40Speaker 2: won more football caps for England? David Beckham or Wayne Rooney? Oh,
- 7:46Speaker 2: and there's not much in it I can tell you.
- 7:50Speaker 1: I'm going to say Wayne Rooney because he was he
- 7:52Speaker 1: lasted a little bit longer than Becks.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Yeah, well you're right there. Wayne Rooney got one hundred
- 7:57Speaker 2: and twenty and David Beckham got one hundred and fifteen.
- 8:00Speaker 2: So over the course of a career that is that
- 8:02Speaker 2: is quite close, isn't it. Okay, this is one that
- 8:05Speaker 2: you will have to think. You might have need a
- 8:07Speaker 2: bit of time about this one, so we might come
- 8:09Speaker 2: back to this one. Unless you know, off the top
- 8:11Speaker 2: of your head from a previous quiz night, how many
- 8:13Speaker 2: balls are there on the table at the start of
- 8:16Speaker 2: a snooker match. Okay, he's still there, he's thinking. Correct, Yes, correct,
- 8:23Speaker 2: because it's the white ball. That's right. You've got Actually,
- 8:26Speaker 2: you've got the white, green, brown, yellow, pink, black and blue,
- 8:30Speaker 2: and there's fifteen roots.
- 8:32Speaker 1: It's like snooker loopy. Yeah, the red pull back, red, yellow, green, blue,
- 8:39Speaker 1: pink and black.
- 8:40Speaker 2: That's good show. Yeah. Which team play their club cricket
- 8:45Speaker 2: at the Oval?
- 8:46Speaker 1: Surrey? Correct?
- 8:49Speaker 2: In which country does the Rowland Garrison Tennis Tournament take place?
- 8:53Speaker 1: France?
- 8:54Speaker 2: What is the national sport of Japan? Oh?
- 9:04Speaker 1: Oh, what's that one? They're all oil themselves up wrestling?
- 9:09Speaker 2: Correct? What you've got there? In the end, we'll done.
- 9:11Speaker 2: How many players in a netball team.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Oh, oh, gold, I can get this wrong, sorry, ladies.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Eight seven close right. Sean Curley was a prolific scorer
- 9:26Speaker 2: for gb in which sports.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I know this one because I saw him whin the
- 9:29Speaker 1: gold metal at hockey right?
- 9:31Speaker 2: Correct, right? And for you listeners out there, this is
- 9:34Speaker 2: one that Adrian actually asked me the other week and
- 9:38Speaker 2: I didn't get it, so he knows the answer. But
- 9:40Speaker 2: I'll tell you that this is the tenth question. What
- 9:43Speaker 2: is taken to the f A Cup Final every year
- 9:47Speaker 2: but never used? Okay, we'll give you the answers after
- 9:49Speaker 2: the next song.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Okay, So yeah, have a good think about this one
- 9:53Speaker 1: because it.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Is its very clever, very.
- 9:57Speaker 1: And I actually got this question from David Coleman doing
- 10:00Speaker 1: I think it was about the nineteen seventy five FA
- 10:03Speaker 1: Cup finals. So yeah, anyway, we'll work this one on
- 10:08Speaker 1: and then we'll love to come to the conclusion of
- 10:10Speaker 1: the end. This is Jama requi and this is love
- 10:12Speaker 1: Fall's philosophy. A little bit sure, as we've only got
- 10:22Speaker 1: a couple of minutes left to go, keV, just a
- 10:25Speaker 1: few little things. Well done to the folks in Victor, Ladies,
- 10:27Speaker 1: you won last week to now at home to lidd
- 10:30Speaker 1: of playing at Church Road. Well done to you too.
- 10:33Speaker 1: No game on Sunday they are playing Hawking Job believe
- 10:37Speaker 1: next week? Oh why yeah, good luck to you ladies
- 10:41Speaker 1: and hopefully you get a victory up there. Yeah. keV
- 10:45Speaker 1: gave me this quiz question. Obviously I need the answer
- 10:50Speaker 1: to it.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Should I say?
- 10:53Speaker 1: Tell us the answer?
- 10:55Speaker 2: The question was what is taken to the FA Cup
- 10:57Speaker 2: Final every year but never used? And the answer I
- 11:02Speaker 2: mean when when A asked me this, I thought of
- 11:04Speaker 2: any obscure things. I thought they might take, like a
- 11:07Speaker 2: replica cup, a second one in case someone nicks them.
- 11:10Speaker 2: But no, it's a simple thing. It's the ribbons in
- 11:13Speaker 2: the losing team colors that are never used. Only the
- 11:17Speaker 2: ribbons in the winners team colors are tied to the
- 11:20Speaker 2: actual trophy. So so simple, isn't it.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Yeah? Simple, But you would think of that?
- 11:24Speaker 2: Yeah, only David Oman.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Only David Calf Yeah, yes, yes, so that's but I've.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Got a Sunday off, so no no racing. But next
- 11:34Speaker 2: week is the LID twenty and half marathon, which is
- 11:38Speaker 2: a real perfect race if you're doing your spring marathon.
- 11:41Speaker 2: So I'll be down there on the mic, So if
- 11:43Speaker 2: you want to shout out, please come over and see me.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Okay, yeah yeah, make sure you get down the mc
- 11:48Speaker 1: keV
