• 1:55
Speaker 4: when the sun goes down and we start seeing these
• 1:57
Speaker 4: snow squalls, that's when the fun is going to begin.
• 1:59
Speaker 4: He said, tongue in cheek. It is going to be
• 2:02
Speaker 4: a cold weekend, but just hold on because they say
• 2:06
Speaker 4: about Tuesday of next week we could hit to the

Speaker 4: of course, also on the Kanau County Board of Education.
• 2:24
Speaker 4: So we'll start with the boa and then transition into

• 2:56
Speaker 4: put her the week. Angie, good morning and welcome to
• 2:58
  Speaker 4: the show.
• 2:59
  Speaker 2: Good morning.
• 3:00
Speaker 5: I'm happy to be here all right.
• 3:01
Speaker 4: Before we get into it, I got to give you
• 3:03
Speaker 4: fair warning. My man Steve Animal from our sister station
• 3:06
Speaker 4: ninety eight seven the Month and Wild Wonderful Classic Rock,
• 3:09
Speaker 4: walked into the studio this morning and said, I want
• 3:12
Speaker 4: to send in on this segment. So I hope that's
• 3:14
  Speaker 4: okay with you.
• 3:15
  Speaker 5: That's absolutely okay.
• 3:17
Speaker 4: Now, are you going to do what you've done when
• 3:19
Speaker 4: I've had other people on the show and go fangirl
• 3:21
Speaker 4: here and just say like you did when I had
• 3:23
Speaker 4: Coach Kid on the show, going, Oh, it's like I
• 3:25
Speaker 4: listened to it growing up? Are you gonna do that
• 3:27
Speaker 4: about Steve Anne? You probably didn't. Your mother may have,
• 3:30
Speaker 4: but I don't think. I doubt very seriously you listened
• 3:33
Speaker 4: to Steve Animal growing up.
• 3:35
Speaker 5: I guess we'll see how this goes and that'll answer
• 3:38
  Speaker 5: it for you.
• 3:39
Speaker 2: I will bring you over to my side.
• 3:42
Speaker 4: All right, Let's get to our adopt me please better
• 3:44
Speaker 4: the week We have a cat this week now. The
• 3:46
Speaker 4: picture's posted as always at Dave Allen Radio on Facebook
• 3:49
Speaker 4: and also the WCCHS Network Facebook page and at Dave
• 3:52
Speaker 4: A seventy on x tell us about the cat known
• 3:56
  Speaker 4: as Duckling.
• 3:59
Speaker 5: So Duckley is. She just came to the case cha
• 4:02
Speaker 5: as astray. She's about a year old, already stayed, already vaccinated,
• 4:07
Speaker 5: ready to roll if she gets adopted, but she is
• 4:10
Speaker 5: so incredibly stressed. That's the shelter, which is one reason
• 4:13
Speaker 5: I wanted to give her a little extra spotlight. She
• 4:16
Speaker 5: doesn't really move in her kennel. She kind of stays
• 4:19
Speaker 5: in what I call a cat loaf where they tuck
• 4:21
Speaker 5: their feet underneath them, but she stays put. She has
• 4:24
Speaker 5: to be pretty much hand fed, her water has to
• 4:27
Speaker 5: be put right in front of her. And that is
• 4:29
Speaker 5: all due to stress and not wanting to move. So
• 4:34
Speaker 5: I want somebody out there to please consider duckling. It's
• 4:37
Speaker 5: literally breaking my heart every day to see her in
• 4:39
Speaker 5: the same exact spot and not moving. And we are
• 4:43
Speaker 5: very confident that once she gets out of a shelter
• 4:45
Speaker 5: setting that she will have the you know, she will
• 4:48
Speaker 5: move and she will be more comfortable to eat on
• 4:50
Speaker 5: her own and you know, explore things rather than staying
• 4:53
Speaker 5: in the same spot.
• 4:54
Speaker 4: Okay, and now we do think though that this is
• 4:57
Speaker 4: stress related to not in medical can I guess stress
• 5:00
Speaker 4: is a medical condition, but you know, but there's not
• 5:02
Speaker 4: something else wrong with her right.
• 5:04
Speaker 5: Absolutely, so we actually have our Vattene has looked at
• 5:08
Speaker 5: her to make sure that there's nothing medical going on.
• 5:12
Speaker 5: It does look like she had an old injury to
• 5:15
Speaker 5: her leg in an area, but we have seen her
• 5:17
Speaker 5: walk when her stress levels are lower. There's this very
• 5:21
Speaker 5: magical tool called feel Away. You spray it and it
• 5:24
Speaker 5: just it brings stress levels down for cats, kind of
• 5:27
Speaker 5: like liquid cat in a way.
• 5:29
Speaker 2: Excellent. Could you bring me some please, so I.
• 5:33
Speaker 5: Spray it all over my desk.
• 5:34
Speaker 2: Don't work, I'd spray it all over me.
• 5:36
Speaker 4: And again you've got the picture. I have the picture
• 5:39
Speaker 4: posted to Dave Allen Radio on Facebook and also the
• 5:41
Speaker 4: WHS network Facebook page and also at Dave seventy on
• 5:45
Speaker 4: X if you want to go over and see what
• 5:46
Speaker 4: Duckling looks like. And the reason that Steve is in
• 5:50
Speaker 4: here today is he still you know, we're we're all
• 5:53
Speaker 4: still kind of obsessed because we want the right thing
• 5:56
Speaker 4: to be done with this case of the dog known
• 5:58
Speaker 4: as Stubbs. This was a dog who we know was
• 6:01
Speaker 4: shot twice, thrown from a car. You guys were attempting
• 6:05
Speaker 4: to do a surgical procedure, but you had to had
• 6:07
Speaker 4: to stop that because, as you said, Stubb's body just
• 6:10
Speaker 4: gave out and had to be euthanized. Had you on
• 6:14
Speaker 4: the show a couple of days ago, any any leads
• 6:16
Speaker 4: and he breaks anything going on with this right now.
• 6:20
Speaker 5: So I actually did get a little bit of information
• 6:22
Speaker 5: yesterday from Stubbs's potential owner who has been missing him
• 6:27
Speaker 5: since last summer. Somebody had stolen Stubbs from her and
• 6:31
Speaker 5: she had seen him posted on social media several times
• 6:35
Speaker 5: and attempted to you know, track him down, follow the
• 6:37
Speaker 5: paper trail to get him, and every single time she
• 6:40
Speaker 5: just met was met with dead ends. So we are
• 6:44
Speaker 5: she's you know, working with us. We're working with her
• 6:47
Speaker 5: to number one, verify that this is possibly her dog,
• 6:51
Speaker 5: and number two, uh, you know, follow her trail of
• 6:54
Speaker 5: you know where the him being shot in the head
• 6:58
Speaker 5: and him being tossed out of a car where that
• 7:01
Speaker 5: occurred on the timeline of people that have had him. So, uh,
• 7:05
Speaker 5: there is a small update. It's probably not the one
• 7:08
Speaker 5: that you know, everyone wants to hear, but it's it's
• 7:11
Speaker 5: something which is more than I had on Wednesday.
• 7:14
Speaker 4: Well, and I don't want to give away too much
• 7:16
Speaker 4: here because it was certainly the last thing. We want
• 7:17
Speaker 4: people brought to justice, and we don't want to do
• 7:19
Speaker 4: anything that's going to impede an investigation. But are you
• 7:22
Speaker 4: and if you're not, that's fine. Are you at liberty
• 7:24
Speaker 4: to say what area of Kanaw County or that this was?
• 7:28
Speaker 4: And if not, I understand, But are you liberty to
• 7:30
  Speaker 4: say that?
• 7:32
  Speaker 6: So?
• 7:32
Speaker 5: I just I don't want to give too much. And
• 7:34
Speaker 5: jeopards Any got it.
• 7:37
Speaker 4: Completely understood. Well, I mean, if this person's story checks out,
• 7:43
  Speaker 4: which hopefully, I mean, I don't know where we're going
• 7:46
Speaker 4: to go from here, but I mean, as you said,
• 7:48
Speaker 4: it's it's more than you had when you were on
• 7:49
Speaker 4: the show forty eight hours ago.
• 7:50
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 7:51
Speaker 7: The thing about this dog too, I mean, this is
• 7:53
Speaker 7: a dog, a very unique dog, cute. You know somebody
• 7:57
Speaker 7: has seen this dog with somebody before, So somebody needs
• 8:02
Speaker 7: to come forward. You know, we have to be the
• 8:04
Speaker 7: voice for the voiceless, and justice definitely needs to happen here.
• 8:10
Speaker 7: This person needs to be found. I mean, he should
• 8:12
Speaker 7: not be walking amongst us at all and needs to
• 8:17
Speaker 7: You know, you can't really pay or bring him back,
• 8:20
Speaker 7: but you know, this person does not need to be
• 8:23
Speaker 7: caring for obviously barely care for himself, and you know
• 8:27
Speaker 7: this dog may have just you know, unfortunately pete on
• 8:31
Speaker 7: the floor scratched something. And you know, people you know
• 8:35
Speaker 7: need help. And this person though, definitely needs to be
• 8:40
Speaker 7: recognized for his work publicly.
• 8:43
Speaker 4: And this is Steve's calls, by the way, just so
• 8:46
Speaker 4: you know, and in his mind too. But I mean,
• 8:48
Speaker 4: Steve wants to take it to a whole other level here,
• 8:50
Speaker 4: and I don't want to get both of us fired
• 8:52
Speaker 4: or us behind the other bars.
• 8:53
Speaker 2: But there's time just wait.
• 8:56
Speaker 7: But yes, so I'm going to continue to bite my
• 8:59
Speaker 7: tongue for a few more days and hopefully you will
• 9:01
Speaker 7: keep us updated and hopefully Charleston p D Will be
• 9:04
Speaker 7: able to make some headway in finding the person that
• 9:07
Speaker 7: did this to this sweet dog that did not deserve to.
• 9:11
  Speaker 2: Die this way.
• 9:12
Speaker 5: Absolutely, and I hope Stubbs kind of shines a new
• 9:16
Speaker 5: light on what a lot of animals in not just
• 9:19
Speaker 5: West Virginia but across the nation are facing and kind
• 9:23
Speaker 5: of inspires a lot of people to demand essentially stricter
• 9:27
Speaker 5: animal cruelty laws. So that's if anything good can come
• 9:32
Speaker 5: out of this, I hope that that's.
• 9:33
Speaker 7: One thing that can. Yeah, because I mean and a
• 9:37
Speaker 7: person who does something like this obviously has a violent
• 9:42
Speaker 7: thread in its personality. So whether it's domestic violence, maybe
• 9:47
Speaker 7: this person is violent in general or just like you know,
• 9:51
Speaker 7: he might be the annoying neighbor who had this dog.
• 9:53
Speaker 7: But this dog is unique. W was a unique looking dog.
• 9:57
Speaker 7: So somebody has seen this dog with somebody in an
• 9:59
Speaker 7: unfortun he was trapped with that person.
• 10:02
Speaker 4: So yeah, we had a text here with somebody asking
• 10:05
Speaker 4: did someone actually see the dog get shot and thrown
• 10:07
Speaker 4: from a car. That's what the person who brought the
• 10:10
Speaker 4: dog to the shelter said, right, Yes.
• 10:12
Speaker 5: The person that brought Stubs to the shelter when he
• 10:17
Speaker 5: first arrived on Sunday had told us that the person,
• 10:21
Speaker 5: if you missed it on Wednesday, the person had left
• 10:24
Speaker 5: before any of our staff could get Stubs over to
• 10:27
Speaker 5: our medical department, get him stabilized and come back and
• 10:29
Speaker 5: ask more questions. The person had left, and you know,
• 10:33
Speaker 5: that may be that they didn't know they had to say.
• 10:35
Speaker 5: They thought they were done, they thought they did their part,
• 10:38
Speaker 5: which you know, thank you for getting them to us. However,
• 10:41
  Speaker 5: so we didn't don't have a lot of information. We're
• 10:43
Speaker 5: assuming that the person saw that happen, and that's how
• 10:46
Speaker 5: they know. But they could have saw, you know, that
• 10:48
Speaker 5: this dog had bullet wounds, like, oh, this dog's been shot.
• 10:51
Speaker 5: Here you go like help him.
• 10:52
Speaker 4: So but the dog definitely was in your medical I mean,
• 10:56
Speaker 4: your your crew that looked at and the dog definitely
• 10:58
Speaker 4: was shot though we know that right.
• 11:00
Speaker 5: Yes, there were bullet holes and bullet fragments inside the dog,
• 11:04
Speaker 5: and he also again had a lot of bruising on
• 11:07
Speaker 5: his stomach that indicated that he was hit by a
• 11:09
Speaker 5: car rather than like, that's not an injury consistent with
• 11:13
Speaker 5: being passed from a lot.
• 11:14
Speaker 4: Okay, so more likely hit by a car. Okay, all right,
• 11:18
Speaker 4: And again I guess one of my big takeaway from
• 11:20
Speaker 4: the story was as tragic as it was, and this
• 11:23
Speaker 4: is what I just can't get out of my head, Angie,
• 11:25
Speaker 4: is you told me that even before the medical procedure
• 11:31
Speaker 4: that your team attempted to do on the dog, the
• 11:34
Speaker 4: dog was still a very loving dog who just wanted
• 11:38
Speaker 4: his belly rubbed, you know. I mean, he had every
• 11:42
Speaker 4: right in the world to bite anything that came close
• 11:44
Speaker 4: to him, and even in the last twenty four hours
• 11:46
Speaker 4: of his life, he was still wanting the love and
• 11:50
  Speaker 4: companionship of humans.
• 11:52
Speaker 5: Absolutely, even with bruses covering his entire stomach area, he
• 11:57
Speaker 5: still was rolling over for Rachel who was helping him
• 12:00
Speaker 5: on Sunday, and she's been on the show before, but
• 12:03
Speaker 5: he was still rolling over wanting Rachel to just put
• 12:05
Speaker 5: him in love on him. So that just tells you
• 12:08
Speaker 5: anything you need to know about why you should love
• 12:10
Speaker 5: dogs and appreciate dogs.
• 12:12
Speaker 7: And most of them are like that. You know, if
• 12:14
Speaker 7: you train the dog or any pet to be a
• 12:17
Speaker 7: good pet, it's going to be actually a fabulous pet.
• 12:20
Speaker 2: So there's just no reason for this.
• 12:23
Speaker 4: And the Texas says, has there ever been in a
• 12:24
Speaker 4: discussion with the legislature to have possibly several state facilities
• 12:28
Speaker 4: or vets for special causes such as severe abuse and
• 12:31
Speaker 4: neglect cases. Something's got to change because you guys, I mean,
• 12:34
Speaker 4: you guys do a fantastic job up there in my
• 12:37
Speaker 4: opinion of the other shelters do as well. But you
• 12:40
Speaker 4: know you sometimes and again don't take this the wrong way,
• 12:43
Speaker 4: but you know you've got how many animals up there
• 12:45
Speaker 4: right now and you're trying to treat all of them.
• 12:47
Speaker 4: I think what the texture is trying to say is,
• 12:49
Speaker 4: maybe if there would be some sort of facility that
• 12:51
Speaker 4: just specialized in these severe cases like that, it probably
• 12:54
Speaker 4: would be helpful to everyone and everything involved here. Angie.
• 12:59
Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree with that. And in a way, we
• 13:02
Speaker 5: kind of have a system set up like that where
• 13:05
Speaker 5: the severe cruelty and neglect cases are going to our
• 13:09
Speaker 5: medical department and receiving like full in depth examinations for
• 13:14
Speaker 5: you know, should a court date come to serve as evidence,
• 13:18
Speaker 5: and they are you know, kind of specialized in in
• 13:22
Speaker 5: our care in a way to you know, help help
• 13:25
Speaker 5: repair these dogs or cats that you know, we didn't break,
• 13:28
Speaker 5: but we're we're helping to repair them. So in a way,
• 13:32
Speaker 5: we are doing that. But I see what that person
• 13:35
Speaker 5: is saying, and I would I would one hundred percent agree.
• 13:37
Speaker 4: And another check says we need several billboards rented with
• 13:41
Speaker 4: justice for Stubbs and put his picture on there as
• 13:43
Speaker 4: well as to hopefully bring some light to the issue. So,
• 13:47
Speaker 4: I mean, I know people in the billboard business, but
• 13:51
Speaker 4: somebody's gonna have to come forward, uh with a little
• 13:53
Speaker 4: little cash, and I know I know a guy.
• 13:56
Speaker 7: Actually, I'm beyond pissed, so I've just been holding it back.
• 14:00
  Speaker 8: Act.
• 14:00
Speaker 2: But yeah, this this thing needs to be brought to justice. Period.
• 14:07
Speaker 7: It's just unacceptable and it seems to be like a
• 14:10
Speaker 7: lot of people think, oh, you know, this has been
• 14:12
Speaker 7: done from you know, one generation to the next. It's
• 14:15
Speaker 7: not okay. It needs to stop it. And I think
• 14:19
Speaker 7: we're going to start here.
• 14:22
Speaker 4: I mean tell you you know, animals, not just in
• 14:25
Speaker 4: his name, I mean, he's all he's all about this time.
• 14:29
  Speaker 2: I'm all in.
• 14:30
Speaker 4: Hey, before we let you go, I did have a
• 14:32
Speaker 4: text to the show yesterday, Angie. Somebody wanted me to
• 14:34
Speaker 4: ask you that there are any West Virginia dogs in
• 14:36
Speaker 4: the Puppy Bowl this year.
• 14:39
Speaker 5: So we don't have any friends in the Puppy Bowl
• 14:41
Speaker 5: this year. However, hopefully there is some exciting news that

Speaker 5: I can share very very soon. There's definitely exciting news.
• 14:48
Speaker 5: I just don't know if I can share it soon
• 14:50
Speaker 5: or I got but stay tuned. There's two really big
• 14:55
Speaker 5: and fun announcements that I literally am bursting at the
• 14:58
Speaker 5: things to talk about.
• 15:00
Speaker 4: We'll look forward to that, Angie. Hey, you guys. I
• 15:02
Speaker 4: know the weather's been rough on you guys, just like
• 15:04
Speaker 4: it has on everybody else. But it looks like it's
• 15:06
Speaker 4: finally going a break By next week once we get
• 15:09
Speaker 4: through today anyway, today and early tomorrow. So I appreciate
• 15:12
Speaker 4: you being here, keep us updated on stubs. We'll talk soon.
• 15:14
Speaker 5: Thanks a lot, absolutely, thank you.
• 15:17
Speaker 4: All right, So again our dog this week. I'm sorry
• 15:20
Speaker 4: our cat. I'm just so used to have a dog
• 15:21
Speaker 4: cat our DoPT me. Please put it. The week's name
• 15:23
Speaker 4: is Duckling. Picture posted Dave Allen Radio on Facebook or
• 15:27
Speaker 4: at Dave A seventy on exel So the WCCHS network
• 15:29
Speaker 4: Facebook page if you want to see the cat we're
• 15:31
Speaker 4: talking about. Duckling, female one year old spade vaccinated, incredibly
• 15:38
Speaker 4: stressed out by the shelter, and we're trying our best
• 15:41
Speaker 4: to try to get this to get this cat a home, Steve,
• 15:44
Speaker 4: because this is a this is a cat that is
• 15:46
Speaker 4: not doing well in a stressed environment and would do
• 15:49
Speaker 4: just fine from what Angie says, if she were out
• 15:51
  Speaker 4: of that environment.
• 15:52
Speaker 7: Most of them do. I mean, nobody obviously wants to
• 15:55
Speaker 7: be in a cage. And then you get the extra
• 15:57
Speaker 7: noise and the dog's barking and the star people coming by,
• 16:01
  Speaker 7: and it's a lot. My wife and I we've actually
• 16:04
Speaker 7: adopted quite a few senior dogs from the shelter and yeah,
• 16:09
Speaker 7: I mean they're they're kind of shut down. So once
• 16:11
Speaker 7: you get them out, though, they personalities are back and
• 16:14
Speaker 7: it's like, hey, I'm free, you know, like everybody wants
• 16:17
Speaker 7: to be, so all.
• 16:18
Speaker 4: Right, Steve Animal Sister Station ninety eight seven, Amount of
• 16:21
Speaker 4: Wild a wonderful classic rock, carry on, well, thank you,
• 16:25
Speaker 4: carry on my way.
• 16:26
Speaker 2: So I am very comfortable.
• 16:28
Speaker 7: But yeah, Stubby, I have an eight x ten glossy
• 16:32
Speaker 7: of him in the Mountain studio right now. But really yes,
• 16:36
Speaker 7: because like I said, he needs a voice. Like this
• 16:40
Speaker 7: is completely and totally unacceptable of any behavior from anyone,
• 16:46
Speaker 7: you know, years of you know, it's like you know,
• 16:48
Speaker 7: through the years you hear of domestic violence.
• 16:50
Speaker 2: You know the same thing.
• 16:51
Speaker 7: It's a human, is an animal, an animal, you know,
• 16:55
  Speaker 7: decide whether it's a dog, cat or whatever. It's a
• 16:58
Speaker 7: living thing. And it did not to be treated this poorly. Unbelievable, unacceptable,
• 17:05
Speaker 7: and this person needs to either come forward, stop being
• 17:09
Speaker 7: a crap bag you happen to be listening this morning,
• 17:11
Speaker 7: and turn yourself in.
• 17:12
Speaker 4: And Steve Animal is determined to find you.
• 17:14
  Speaker 8: I am.
• 17:15
Speaker 7: Actually it's just calls right now, I am. You know
• 17:18
Speaker 7: the billboard thing that you know. Hey, you know, get
• 17:22
Speaker 7: a hold of Brian nost Over at the.
• 17:26
  Speaker 4: I know a guy, I know a guy and and
• 17:28
Speaker 4: I know two of them in this studio. Yes, So
• 17:30

Speaker 4: You haven't an issue as well?
• 20:08
Speaker 2: Steve c did something to this headset and he needs
• 20:11
Speaker 2: to come back and he fixed it. Steve. This is
• 20:15
Speaker 2: why I'm like panicking right now.
• 20:17
Speaker 4: Well, you really don't need that.
• 20:19
  Speaker 2: I know I don't, but I feel more official.
• 20:21
Speaker 4: I have them on all right, Well a animal.
• 20:24
Speaker 2: It's fine. He doesn't have to come.
• 20:25
Speaker 4: You've messed up the headphones. I'm just giving him hard
• 20:29
Speaker 4: time on man, what did you do? What did you
• 20:31
Speaker 4: do to these headphones?
• 20:32
Speaker 2: Actually I was going to touch those? Did you not
• 20:35
  Speaker 2: use them?
• 20:36
  Speaker 5: Oh?
• 20:36
Speaker 2: Never mind? See I can't even blame him for it. Sorry.
• 20:40
Speaker 4: He walks around with his headphones around his neck, unaware
• 20:42
Speaker 4: that they're not even plugged into.
• 20:44
Speaker 1: And he's going to.
• 20:44
Speaker 4: Say, you know, you have a set on your neck right,
• 20:50
Speaker 4: just in case in the car, just in case a
• 20:51
Speaker 4: radio brought just happened before bed?
• 20:53
Speaker 2: Any time? Good for you?
• 20:55
  Speaker 13: All right?
• 20:56
Speaker 2: Would you like to no, no, no, no, I appreciate
• 20:59
Speaker 2: you that I appreciate you always.
• 21:01
Speaker 4: As my grandmother used to say about me, that boy
• 21:04
Speaker 4: could tear up an bull with a rubber mallet. Good morning,
• 21:10
Speaker 4: Rick Cavaner, Charleston Irber Works is here. We'll get to
• 21:12
Speaker 4: suburban works, so if here momentarily. But of course you
• 21:14
Speaker 4: are also the president of the Canawha County Board of Yes,
• 21:19
Speaker 4: and it's been rough. It's been rough on the children's
• 21:23
Speaker 4: and more importantly on the parents.
• 21:25
Speaker 3: Well for me, it's where I am in the role
• 21:28
Speaker 3: of president of the school board and my children, my
• 21:30
Speaker 3: sons still think that I have this crazy power that
• 21:32
Speaker 3: I don't have. They'll text me every day cancel school, Dad,
• 21:36
Speaker 3: cancel school. That's not how that works.
• 21:37
Speaker 4: But yeah, sorry, yeah, because if you could do that,
• 21:40
Speaker 4: you probably send them to school and cancel for everybody. Absolutely,
• 21:45
Speaker 4: So remote learning day, I think, yes, what it was
• 21:48
Speaker 4: was today, And I interviewed to Perintendent Paul Paul Potter
• 21:51
Speaker 4: a couple of weeks ago on the show, and she
• 21:52
Speaker 4: talked about the you know, it's very difficult, you know,
• 21:55
Speaker 4: trying to make those decisions because unfortunately, Knawa County is
• 21:59
Speaker 4: a big and you know, and what's happening in Tornado
• 22:03
Speaker 4: is not always what it's happening in downtown Charleston or
• 22:07
Speaker 4: Elk View or wherever the case may be. So it's
• 22:10
Speaker 4: it's rough when those decisions have to be made. And
• 22:12
Speaker 4: now or to the point now when you look at
• 22:15
Speaker 4: these remote learning days, I mean the county's out of
• 22:18
Speaker 4: snow days, is that right? I mean there are no
• 22:20
Speaker 4: more there are So if we get and we're not
• 22:22
Speaker 4: going to get it with this, by the way, but
• 22:24
Speaker 4: if later we have had some pretty big snowstorms in
• 22:26
Speaker 4: March short April, if we get a big snowstorm, a
• 22:30
Speaker 4: twenty inch snowstorm, which we're not getting, by the way,
• 22:33
Speaker 4: but if we've got something like that, no more snow days,
• 22:35
  Speaker 4: that's an accounty.
• 22:36
Speaker 3: Yeah, then it becomes well, you will have the snow day,
• 22:39
Speaker 3: but we tackle on a day at the end of
• 22:41
  Speaker 3: the okay.
• 22:42
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah everyone. So I mean, so that's where we
• 22:44
  Speaker 4: are right now.
• 22:45
Speaker 3: Yeah, which is why I think I read the legislature
• 22:48
Speaker 3: was considering maybe extending the number of NTID days non
• 22:52
Speaker 3: traditional instructional days that we get, maybe.
• 22:55
Speaker 2: To alleviate some of that. But I don't know where
• 22:57
Speaker 2: that bill is at all, so I'm not sure.
• 22:58
Speaker 4: But now, how do those generally speaking war as far
• 23:02
Speaker 4: as the anti I mean that they log in because
• 23:04
  Speaker 4: you're a parent, so yeah, got you've got specially you've
• 23:07
Speaker 4: got you know, a little bit more knowledge and explain
• 23:09
Speaker 4: to the people how they work.
• 23:10
Speaker 3: Well, it is it is quite you know, in fact,
• 23:13
Speaker 3: it's virtual learning, right, So they they log in, they
• 23:16
Speaker 3: communicate with their teachers, they they complete assignments. You know,
• 23:20
Speaker 3: they're they're able to keep up with their work.
• 23:22
  Speaker 2: Look with their.
• 23:23
Speaker 3: Assignments, and I get behind. But I mean, let's face it,
• 23:26
  Speaker 3: it's it's it's not you can't compare it to in
• 23:29
  Speaker 3: person person talking.
• 23:31
Speaker 4: With deligate Andy Shamblin who's also a teacher, who said
• 23:34
Speaker 4: that exact same thing. There's no substitute for a child.
• 23:37
Speaker 4: And he's also he's a teacher and a legislator. He said,
• 23:40
Speaker 4: there's no substitute for a kid actually being in a classroom.
• 23:43
Speaker 4: That's right, and and we well, we saw that with COVID.
• 23:46
Speaker 4: That's why COVID did such a number on our students
• 23:49
Speaker 4: and teachers because they were remote learning for a very
• 23:52
Speaker 4: long time. And I think it's still having an impact
• 23:55
Speaker 4: because it's just not the same, right, It's just not
• 23:57
Speaker 4: the same at all. And it's not it's not just
• 24:00
Speaker 4: the importance of the social aspects of the child being
• 24:03
Speaker 4: in school with their friends and you know, with their peers,
• 24:06
Speaker 4: but it's also the impact that in person learning, just
• 24:10
Speaker 4: as a teacher to the student has and and it's
• 24:14
  Speaker 4: just it's it's not comparable.
• 24:16
Speaker 2: So I'm hoping that we don't have to experience this
• 24:18
  Speaker 2: anymore this year.
• 24:19
Speaker 4: I'm talking to Rick Cavator again from the Canon County
• 24:21
Speaker 4: Board of Education. Uh, you're ready to switch gears and
• 24:24
Speaker 4: become Charleston Urban Works.
• 24:25
Speaker 2: Whatever you're ready, man, I'm I can talk all morning.
• 24:27
Speaker 4: Have you like moved on over into the other.
• 24:29
Speaker 2: So now I'll find another set of headset.
• 24:31
  Speaker 14: Yeah.
• 24:31
Speaker 4: Yeah, so that the Steve animal hasn't broken, Ye'll put
• 24:33
Speaker 4: you in another chair over there, Charleston Urban Works, let's
• 24:36
Speaker 4: get to that. So I had counselman Chad Robinson on
• 24:40
Speaker 4: the show just a couple of days ago, who serves
• 24:42
Speaker 4: the Kano City area. There's a lot lot of good stuff. Yeah,
• 24:46
  Speaker 4: going on.
• 24:46
Speaker 2: We're really excited about talk.
• 24:47
Speaker 4: About some of that Kanos City stuff.
• 24:49
  Speaker 8: Yeah.
• 24:49
Speaker 2: Well, and you mentioned counselman Robinson.
• 24:51
Speaker 3: I mean, you know, he and counselmen King were very
• 24:53
Speaker 3: instrumental when getting our organizational expansion completed. You know, we
• 24:59
Speaker 3: we through a process with Mayor Goodwin and her administration
• 25:02
Speaker 3: and Councilman Robin and Robinson and King rather to create
• 25:07
Speaker 3: this expansion where we and I've been on before to
• 25:10
Speaker 3: talk about this, but we effectively just took the infrastructure
• 25:13
Speaker 3: that we already have in places an organization and just
• 25:15
Speaker 3: expanded it into the Kanall City Business District. And when
• 25:19
  Speaker 3: I say that that's a very long business district, it's
• 25:21
Speaker 3: most of mccorkory Avenue over there. And we spent the
• 25:25
Speaker 3: fren We hired our director of Outreach and engagement Shannon Polly,
• 25:29
  Speaker 3: she's absolutely wonderful.
• 25:30
Speaker 2: She's done a great job and she immediately.
• 25:32
Speaker 3: Got to work with a working group that we put
• 25:34
Speaker 3: together comprised of of civic leaders, so Chad and Bruce,
• 25:38
Speaker 3: of course, city department officials, business owners and Kanall City
• 25:43
Speaker 3: property owners in Kana City marketing professionals, and we developed
• 25:46
Speaker 3: a year long project project plan and during our Village
• 25:49
Speaker 3: after Hours we hosted a couple of weeks ago over
• 25:52
Speaker 3: at Tim Hogan's design Gallery, we unveiled those project plans
• 25:55
Speaker 3: to let the public know really what we're going to
• 25:58
Speaker 3: be up to for the next year and base on
• 26:00
Speaker 3: the needs of the district. And we gather those needs
• 26:03
Speaker 3: to some surveys and through hearing directly from our working
• 26:05
Speaker 3: group members, we developed that project plan. So we're talking about,
• 26:09
Speaker 3: you know, at the very top is how do we
• 26:11
Speaker 3: tackle commercial vacancy reduction? And that's not just for Kanall City,
• 26:14
Speaker 3: that's for all three of our districts, West Side, East
• 26:16
Speaker 3: End and Kanall City. So what strategies are we going
• 26:19
Speaker 3: to have in place to really tackle commercial vacancy reduction?
• 26:23
Speaker 3: How do we better advertise properties that are that are available,
• 26:26
Speaker 3: how do we assist the real estate companies if they're
• 26:30
Speaker 3: advertising on behalf of a property owner or directly with
• 26:33
Speaker 3: the property owner, how do we become a promotional partner
• 26:36
Speaker 3: if you will for them. So that's at the very
• 26:38
Speaker 3: top of our list. We're going to start hosting our
• 26:41
Speaker 3: Village after hours events over there every quarter. We're the
• 26:44
Speaker 3: first one. Really well, we had to think over sixty
• 26:45
Speaker 3: people show up for the first one.
• 26:47
Speaker 4: I was unable to attend, but I saw some of
• 26:49
Speaker 4: the pictures and man, I tell you what you packed
• 26:51
Speaker 4: it out of that?
• 26:51
Speaker 2: Yeah, it was great.
• 26:52
Speaker 3: And of course Mayor Goodwin came and spoke, and Shannon
• 26:56
Speaker 3: spoke and uh, Chad Robinson spoke and we uh, you
• 26:59
Speaker 3: know again let the public know that you know, this
• 27:01
Speaker 3: is why we have this is why we use this process,
• 27:04
Speaker 3: this is why we did this, and now this is
• 27:06
Speaker 3: what we're going to be doing to shine a really
• 27:08
Speaker 3: bright spotlight on all the business owners in Kanas City
• 27:11
Speaker 3: and all their buildings, because you know, they have felt
• 27:13
Speaker 3: pretty forgotten over the past several years for different reasons.
• 27:16
Speaker 3: Of course, we don't have to get into all those,
• 27:18
Speaker 3: but it's our role as an organization to not only
• 27:21
Speaker 3: promote but also create a more economic, economically prosperous environment
• 27:26
  Speaker 3: over there.
• 27:27
Speaker 4: Talking to Rick Cavner from Charleston Urban Works to Dave
• 27:29
Speaker 4: Island Show and five eighty line brought to you apart
• 27:31

Speaker 4: of I sixty four or online Generations Forward dot com
• 27:47
Speaker 4: one destination for every generation Generation Forward see dealer for details.
• 27:51
Speaker 4: Might we see at some point some act some fun
• 27:54
Speaker 4: activities over there, similar to a foam with the dome
• 27:58
Speaker 4: or similar to the October West, I mean, things like
• 28:03
Speaker 4: that may be in the works for Kanos City.
• 28:04
  Speaker 2: That's a goal.
• 28:05
Speaker 3: So we actually talked about that during our press conference
• 28:07
Speaker 3: over there that day during the village after hours, and
• 28:11
Speaker 3: the goal is to work to formulate and to plan
• 28:15
Speaker 3: a large scale event over there, just like we have
• 28:17
Speaker 3: in our other districts. You know, now that we have
• 28:19
Speaker 3: the staff to accommodate that, we're going to be able
• 28:22
Speaker 3: to tackle that. And then again that'll be based on
• 28:25
Speaker 3: the ideas and the needs of the of the end users,
• 28:28
Speaker 3: right the business owners over there and our working group members.
• 28:30
Speaker 3: So we are going to be very in very short,
• 28:33
Speaker 3: in a very short period of time having that discussion.
• 28:35
Speaker 3: You know what will that large event that really helps
• 28:38
Speaker 3: brand the district and brings people over there. That's what's
• 28:41
Speaker 3: been so great. As you know about phone with the
• 28:42
Speaker 3: Dome in October West, it serves the districts themselves because
• 28:45
Speaker 3: it gets people into businesses, gets cash, registers ring and
• 28:48
Speaker 3: creates that residual effect.
• 28:49
Speaker 2: People will go over to.
• 28:50
Speaker 3: An event for the first time that they may not
• 28:51
Speaker 3: even be from Charleston, and I know a lot of
• 28:53
Speaker 3: cases they're not, but they come over there and they
• 28:55
Speaker 3: see you know, Kels Tavern in Elk City or Kinship
• 28:58
Speaker 3: Goods or whatever the case is, and I didn't realize
• 29:00
Speaker 3: this was here. I'm coming back. That's what we wanted
• 29:02
Speaker 3: to see happen. We have a huge opportunity to replicate
• 29:05
Speaker 3: that in Kano City. It's just going to come down
• 29:06
Speaker 3: to the best location theme. You know, how large of
• 29:10
Speaker 3: a scale are we talking about? You know, when as
• 29:12
Speaker 3: you know, when we when we produce an event, we
• 29:13
Speaker 3: want to produce it, right, and it's big, and it's
• 29:16
Speaker 3: big and so and we only have so much capacity.
• 29:18
Speaker 3: So now that we have that extra staff, we know
• 29:20
Speaker 3: we take a lot of energy out of you're just
• 29:21
Speaker 3: doing those two events that you do. Now the two
• 29:23
Speaker 3: that come, I know you do a lot more than those,
• 29:25
Speaker 3: but those are the two that really really those are
• 29:28
Speaker 3: those are everybody they do and they're they're effectively our
• 29:31
Speaker 3: main events. Now we've dropped when we when we were
• 29:34
Speaker 3: structured and reorganized as an organization, we made the decision
• 29:37
Speaker 3: we were not an event organization, but we understand the
• 29:39
Speaker 3: importance and impact of large scale fundraising events and so
• 29:43
Speaker 3: and we knew both of those are tried and true.
• 29:45
Speaker 2: That's why they're that's why we kept them, if you will,
• 29:47
Speaker 2: on the docket, so.
• 29:50
Speaker 3: We know that's holding something of that scale and that
• 29:53
Speaker 3: nature over in Kanos City is also extremely important. So
• 29:56
Speaker 3: to be a matter again of time of year, scale,
• 29:58
Speaker 3: what the theme will be, what the offerings will be,
• 30:01
Speaker 3: how we showcase the business is the best right because
• 30:03
Speaker 3: Clos City is such a large millnear business district, it's
• 30:07
Speaker 3: not a traditional square urbanized district right A while there
• 30:12
Speaker 3: it is, I mean so we have to figure out
• 30:14
Speaker 3: how to best serve all of them. This will take
• 30:15
Speaker 3: some time to figure that out, but we're we're starting
• 30:17
  Speaker 3: those conversations.
• 30:18
Speaker 4: Just to give people an idea, and this is I'm
• 30:21
Speaker 4: asking down just for a ballpark. Figure how many people,
• 30:24
Speaker 4: off the top of your head attended October West last
• 30:27
Speaker 4: year our phone with the dome. Just give me an approximant.
• 30:29
Speaker 4: I know it's kind of hard to tell with vendors
• 30:31
Speaker 4: and everything, but just to give people a scale of
• 30:34
Speaker 4: how big these these two of these two events.
• 30:36
Speaker 3: Are together or separately separately, so it all depends on
• 30:40
Speaker 3: the year. On average, the average attendance is about fifteen
• 30:44
Speaker 3: hundred per event. Sometimes it's as low as one thy
• 30:47
Speaker 3: eleven hundred. We've had as much as twenty two to
• 30:49
Speaker 3: twenty three hundred. It really just depends on whether when
• 30:51
Speaker 3: it is, whether what else is going on in the
• 30:54
Speaker 3: city or the state. We try our best to avoid
• 30:57
Speaker 3: home games for both Marshall and w if we can.
• 31:00
Speaker 3: Some times we can't avoid it. We also try to
• 31:03
Speaker 3: make sure that we're working with our partner organizations like
• 31:05
Speaker 3: Festival for instance, to make sure that if we're planning
• 31:07
Speaker 3: something at the same time, we're around the same time
• 31:09
Speaker 3: that we're either co promoting. We're just being very mindful
• 31:12
Speaker 3: of the times of the events so people have an
• 31:13
Speaker 3: opportunity to go to both or to all of them.
• 31:16
Speaker 3: So a lot of factors there. So always extremely well attended.
• 31:19
Speaker 3: As you know, you're you're always there, but it depends
• 31:23
  Speaker 3: on the year.
• 31:24
Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, all right. You and I were texting earlier
• 31:28
Speaker 4: this morning about some I want to talk about Kanas City,
• 31:30
Speaker 4: but you get some other things into pipeline you want
• 31:32
  Speaker 4: to mention.
• 31:32
Speaker 3: Yes, we've been working really hard. We partner with CIRA,
• 31:36
Speaker 3: the charles An Urban Renewal Authority about six months ago,
• 31:39
Speaker 3: almost a year ago now when we started having these conversations.
• 31:42
Speaker 3: And not to get too much into the nerdy urban
• 31:44
Speaker 3: development weeds of things, but effectively, you know, KURRA, the
• 31:48
Speaker 3: Urban Renewal Authority, they're required to have what they call
• 31:51
Speaker 3: an urban renewal plan in place for their designated district.
• 31:54
Speaker 3: So that's two different plans on the east end, one
• 31:57
Speaker 3: sort of merged central down town plan that includes like
• 32:01
Speaker 3: the warehouse district, and then of course there are two
• 32:02
Speaker 3: plans on the west side and those have to be
• 32:05
Speaker 3: official documents that are in place, the city council official
• 32:07
Speaker 3: you know, will eventually approve and adopt. Well, they're in
• 32:10
Speaker 3: the process right now of renewing their East End or
• 32:13
Speaker 3: a renewal plan, as you and I both have talked
• 32:15
Speaker 3: about several times, Dave. You know, the East End has
• 32:18
Speaker 3: experienced in some way sort of a downturn as far
• 32:20
Speaker 3: as loss of buildings, loss of business, and of course
• 32:24
Speaker 3: the residents are concerned. We're concerned. So we had to
• 32:27
Speaker 3: take a step back and say, how how do we
• 32:28
Speaker 3: sort of start at square one?
• 32:30
Speaker 2: Well, how do you do that?
• 32:31
Speaker 3: You go when you're going through this planning process, you
• 32:33
Speaker 3: make sure that you're involving as many people from the
• 32:36
Speaker 3: public as possible to gather as many ideas and recommendations
• 32:41
Speaker 3: to develop a really strong urban renewal plan. We made
• 32:44
Speaker 3: the decision we have to start from a foundation over there,
• 32:46
Speaker 3: so we partner with Cure. We're a financial partner in
• 32:49
Speaker 3: this project. We hired Gai Consultants there are. They are
• 32:52
Speaker 3: our firm that's handling developing the entire plan. What we
• 32:56
Speaker 3: did differently with this is we said, we're in other
• 32:58
Speaker 3: parts of the city, have we experience success economic success,
• 33:03
Speaker 3: whether from an urban design perspective, from a building or
• 33:08
Speaker 3: building perspective, business development perspective, and obviously the Elk City
• 33:12
Speaker 3: District of the West Side, over the course of the
• 33:14
Speaker 3: past ten to fifteen years, as you know, has experienced
• 33:16
Speaker 3: a lot of really positive growth. So we said, as
• 33:19
Speaker 3: we're developing this plan, why don't we use the Elk
• 33:21
Speaker 3: City District take them while we're still helping them and
• 33:25
Speaker 3: developing a future plan for them, why don't we use
• 33:27
Speaker 3: them as sort of a blueprint and take parts of
• 33:31
Speaker 3: what they did, tactics that were used, whether you know,
• 33:33
Speaker 3: and that involves city government, that involves nonprofits, that involves
• 33:37
Speaker 3: obviously huge private investments, property owners, business owners, get them
• 33:42
Speaker 3: all around the table, do some research, do a huge
• 33:45
Speaker 3: market analysis study and use that data as part of
• 33:50
Speaker 3: making recommendations for the East End or real plan. Understanding
• 33:52
Speaker 3: that the West Side and East End are in some
• 33:54
Speaker 3: way similar but also very different. Sure, but how do
• 33:57
Speaker 3: we take our best practices from the West Side, what
• 33:59
Speaker 3: you've done over there and apply them to me? Since
• 34:01
Speaker 3: this plan has to be put in place soon, and
• 34:04
Speaker 3: we've been going through this process over the course of
• 34:06
Speaker 3: the last six months, We've held several in coordination with
• 34:09
Speaker 3: Gai and with Kira, we've held several public input sessions
• 34:12
Speaker 3: with the business and property owners in Elk City. We
• 34:15
Speaker 3: just had our one for the East End a couple
• 34:16
Speaker 3: of nights ago, and a large one just for anybody
• 34:20
Speaker 3: to come and give their recommendations. So really excited about
• 34:24
Speaker 3: how that how that project is turning out. We're going
• 34:26
Speaker 3: to have a full huge trade area market study, market
• 34:30
Speaker 3: analysis study put together on top of a plan that's
• 34:33
Speaker 3: going to have recommendations for projects for public space enhancements,
• 34:37
Speaker 3: for strategies for recruiting new business, and that we're going
• 34:41
Speaker 3: to use that as part of our blueprint as an organization,
• 34:43
Speaker 3: working with Kira to put in our project plans to
• 34:46
Speaker 3: see some change, some really positive change happen over there.
• 34:49
Speaker 3: But we knew we had to start at square one.
• 34:51
Speaker 3: So that's been a really great partnership and project that
• 34:54
Speaker 3: will be wrapping up right around April. And of course
• 34:57
Speaker 3: we've talked a lot about our West Side Gateway lighting initiative.
• 35:00
  Speaker 2: It's been an.
• 35:01
Speaker 3: Ongoing project, it's taken a lot longer than we had anticipated.
• 35:05
Speaker 3: We've kept our our business owners over in Elk City update,
• 35:07
Speaker 3: we've kept our funders updated. The good news is equipment's
• 35:10
Speaker 3: been ordered, the light posts have been ordered. Finally they'll
• 35:13
Speaker 3: be in around the beginning to the middle of April,
• 35:16
Speaker 3: and then we'll start construction on that project. And we
• 35:20
Speaker 3: because we found out we had to raise more money.
• 35:22
Speaker 3: Cost of everything has went up since we started this project,
• 35:25
Speaker 3: ye and we had about one hundred and eighty thousand
• 35:26
Speaker 3: dollars delta that we had to make up for. So
• 35:29
Speaker 3: I've been hard at We've we've been hard at work,
• 35:31
Speaker 3: reaching out to new funders, existing funders, you know, our
• 35:34
Speaker 3: our delegates, our senators, you know, garnering support and more
• 35:38
Speaker 3: funding for this and happy to report that we've almost
• 35:41
Speaker 3: sealed up that delta. We're getting pretty close. But we've
• 35:44
Speaker 3: already the equipment has been ordered and we are starting
• 35:46
Speaker 3: that project in April. We could probably see the project
• 35:49
Speaker 3: being complete by mid midsummer end of June, and we'll
• 35:53
Speaker 3: have brand new lamp posts that shine down the street
• 35:55
Speaker 3: more effectively keep our streets safe, but also illuminate our
• 35:59
Speaker 3: facades and the front of our buildings. We can change
• 36:01
Speaker 3: the color of the of the lights for different holidays.
• 36:04
Speaker 3: It's going to be a really unique, really cool project
• 36:06
Speaker 3: when it's over with all.
• 36:07
Speaker 4: Right, Rick, it's always pleasure to have you on the

Speaker 4: Senator Rupe Phillips is on the show today. He of

• 40:01
Speaker 4: originally wanting to make it so in order to be
• 40:04
Speaker 4: governor of West Virginia you had to actually have been
• 40:07
Speaker 4: born in West Virginia, obviously obvious Overton's area with Governor Morrissey,
• 40:14
Speaker 4: although just what you need to know about this. Even
• 40:17
Speaker 4: if it were to pass, because it's a resolution, it
• 40:21
Speaker 4: would then have to go to the voters to decide
• 40:23
Speaker 4: because you're talking about amending the constitution. I talked with
• 40:26
Speaker 4: Senator Phillips about this last night, and he is changing
• 40:29
Speaker 4: it up just a bit because you know, I mean,
• 40:33
Speaker 4: let's face it, excluding people born somewhere other than West
• 40:36
Speaker 4: Virginia could be a little bit problematic. And not that
• 40:39
Speaker 4: I am not going to run for governor. Not that
• 40:41
Speaker 4: I am going to run for governor. I'm not, but
• 40:44
Speaker 4: I wasn't born in West Virginia, even though I've lived
• 40:47
Speaker 4: here my entire life. I was born in an army
• 40:49
Speaker 4: hospital in Georgia to a West Virginia family that just
• 40:53
Speaker 4: happened to be where my dad was stationed. So I
• 40:54
Speaker 4: was born at Fort Benning, Georgia. We moved back to
• 40:57
Speaker 4: West Virginia when I was six months old. I had
• 41:00

• 45:29
Speaker 4: how about Trump's latest truth Social posts, Trump lovers not you, Dave,
• 45:33
Speaker 4: explain how that wasn't and you aren't racist? Absolutely pathetic.
• 45:37
Speaker 4: I had not seen this, but old boy did a
• 45:40
Speaker 4: little research there. So President Trump apparently shared a video
• 45:45
Speaker 4: on truth Social Thursday night that depicted former President Barack
• 45:49
Speaker 4: Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes in
• 45:53
Speaker 4: a jungle. The Obama's briefly and suddenly appeared near the
• 45:58
Speaker 4: end of the video, which promotes the claims that voting
• 46:01
Speaker 4: machines helped steal the twenty twenty election, their face superimposed

Speaker 4: onto the bodies of apes. Now, as the images appear

• 46:43
Speaker 4: To the American public, outlets have reached out to the Obamas.
• 46:47
Speaker 4: I have not seen any response, not saying that they
• 46:50
Speaker 4: have it. I just haven't seen. I was literally doing
• 46:52
Speaker 4: this during the commercial break there. The office of California
• 46:56
Speaker 4: Governor Gavin Newsom condemned the video, saying, disgusting behavior by
• 47:01
Speaker 4: the president. Every single Republican must denounce this immediately. Well
• 47:07
Speaker 4: that's probably not gonna happen. With all due respect, Governor Newsome,

Speaker 4: out a couple of sects here, Tex says Dave. I
• 47:37
Speaker 4: saw where the Constitution is being ignored in West Virginia,
• 47:41
Speaker 4: people being arrested without due process. What's next? Take our guns?
• 47:44
Speaker 4: Question Mark says. The Texter tex says, what happened to
• 47:47
Speaker 4: Tony Hodge? I remember when he would be on your
• 47:50
Speaker 4: show sometimes on Mondays. Is he still around? Mister Hodge
• 47:52
Speaker 4: is still around. He's always welcome on the show. It's
• 47:55
Speaker 4: always lively discussion with Tony. Hik very good friend of mine.
• 48:01
Speaker 4: So anytime Tony wants on the show, haven't heard it
• 48:03
Speaker 4: from him. Miliwaise, Stay's pretty busy.
• 48:05
  Speaker 8: You know.
• 48:05
Speaker 4: He works full time. He's heavily involved in the state
• 48:09
Speaker 4: Republican Party, so that takes up a lot of his time.
• 48:12
Speaker 4: His family takes up a lot of his time, his church,
• 48:14
Speaker 4: and oh, by the way, he's got a very successful
• 48:16
Speaker 4: podcast too. So Tony says, a little busy, but I
• 48:20
Speaker 4: know he still listens to the show. So anytime Monday
• 48:23
Speaker 4: seemed to be his best day because of his work schedule.
• 48:25
Speaker 4: So anytime mister Hodge wants on the show, he is
• 48:28
Speaker 4: more than welcome, Texas. Shouldn't those who were born in
• 48:32
Speaker 4: another state if their parents are in the military, be
• 48:35
Speaker 4: treated the same as those born to parents in the
• 48:36
Speaker 4: Peace Corps in another country. They could become US president.
• 48:40
Speaker 4: So if your parents are both residents of the same
• 48:42
Speaker 4: state but served in the military in another state where
• 48:45
Speaker 4: you were born, you should be a West Virginian natural citizen.
• 48:47
Speaker 4: Am I wrong? I mean, I don't know about state citizenship.
• 48:51
Speaker 4: I don't know, really, I've never been asked to prove that.
• 48:53
Speaker 4: But I mean, as I said, in my case, I
• 48:56
Speaker 4: was born in the state of Georgia Bulldogs to father
• 49:00
Speaker 4: who was wrapping up his military career, and his last
• 49:03
Speaker 4: stop was at Fort Benning. I was born Martin Army
• 49:05
Speaker 4: Hospital and Fort Benning, just outside Columbus, Georgia. We moved
• 49:09
Speaker 4: back to West Virginia when I was six months old
• 49:11
Speaker 4: and had been in West Virginia ever since. Even this
• 49:13
Speaker 4: is how much of a fan I am in the
• 49:14
Speaker 4: state of West Virginia, TJ. Even though I worked in
• 49:19
Speaker 4: the state of Ohio, I still lived in West Virginia.
• 49:23
Speaker 4: I wants that tell you, it's just good sense. Well,
• 49:25
Speaker 4: to be fair, it was seven miles across the border.
• 49:29
  Speaker 4: I worked at a radio station. I worked at a
• 49:31
Speaker 4: couple of stations in Gallipolice, Ohio at one point, early
• 49:34
Speaker 4: early in my career, right out of college. And it
• 49:38
Speaker 4: just how happened when my wife and I and my
• 49:39
Speaker 4: wife and I had just gotten married. We looked for
• 49:41
Speaker 4: an apartment. The one there weren't any available in Galli
• 49:43
Speaker 4: Police it was in Point Pleasant, So I lived in
• 49:46
Speaker 4: Point Pleasant. Other than that, though I have lived in
• 49:48
Speaker 4: West Virginia, you have you lived in West Virginia your
• 49:50
Speaker 4: entire life? I have lived here my entire life. I
• 49:52
Speaker 4: have worked many other places, but I've done it, traveling
• 49:55
Speaker 4: back and forth and that kind of thing. But I
• 49:57
Speaker 4: have lived here my entire life. Had you seen this
• 50:01
Speaker 4: this truth social post that the president did and the
• 50:03
Speaker 4: texture about depicting the Obama's as apes, are you serious? Yeah?
• 50:08
  Speaker 4: I got a text about I hadn't seen it, seen
• 50:10
Speaker 4: it either, and uh there the texture was saying, uh,
• 50:13
Speaker 4: you know, will Republicans call this out? The answers, No,
• 50:18
Speaker 4: I mean you and I both know the answer to that, TJ.
• 50:20
Speaker 4: The answers, No, why just just why.
• 50:24
  Speaker 2: Here's what.
• 50:25
Speaker 4: Here's what many Trump supporters would say, Okay, this would
• 50:27
Speaker 4: what they would say, Well, you know it, it's just
• 50:30
  Speaker 4: a joke.
• 50:31
  Speaker 2: And he didn't.
• 50:32
Speaker 4: He didn't, he didn't really mean it, and stop being
• 50:34
Speaker 4: offended by words or depictions or things of that nature.
• 50:37
Speaker 4: I'm I'm saying that's probably what the defense would be. Yeah,
• 50:40
Speaker 4: being presidential used to mean taking the high road. It
• 50:43
Speaker 4: used to mean having a level of class and uh look,
• 50:46
Speaker 4: Trump's not the first one not to do that. It
• 50:48
Speaker 4: really took a big downturn in my opinion.
• 50:51
  Speaker 6: Uh post h w, I mean it's gotten Trump is
• 50:55
Speaker 6: the worst by far, and just be classy, just take
• 50:59
  Speaker 6: the high road.
• 50:59
Speaker 4: You don't to do that stuff. Yeah, and act presidential.
• 51:03
Speaker 4: Act presidential. But they're you know, the hardcore Trump supporters
• 51:06
Speaker 4: would say, that's what we love about him is that
• 51:08
  Speaker 4: he's one of us. I don't know that that's one
• 51:11
  Speaker 4: of us.
• 51:12
Speaker 6: I don't want to do to be honest with you,
• 51:13
Speaker 6: that I'm not going to be able to tell my
• 51:14
Speaker 6: grandkids about one day without them feeling Did you hear
• 51:17
Speaker 6: his comments at the prayer at the at the Yeah
• 51:20
Speaker 6: with Thomas Massey. Yeah, and kudo's on MASSI you know
• 51:23
Speaker 6: what he said, I vote with Republicans ninety one percent
• 51:26
Speaker 6: of the time. I don't do it when they're trying
• 51:27
Speaker 6: to bankrupt our country and when they're protecting pedophiles. Kudos
• 51:30
Speaker 6: Thomas mass You know he's not a big fan of Massy.
• 51:33
Speaker 6: Is the president he should be. Yeah, he's he should be.
• 51:35
