- 1:05Speaker 2: current and former Bengals host charity golf tournaments for great causes,
- 1:09Speaker 2: and this year Bengals dot Com editor Jeff Butch Hobson
- 1:13Speaker 2: did as well. His tournament is called the Jack or
- 1:17Speaker 2: more formally, the Jack Hobson Memorial Golf Classic. Jack was
- 1:23Speaker 2: Jeff's first grandson who tragically passed away from a heart
- 1:27Speaker 2: defect when he was twenty nine days old. The tournament
- 1:31Speaker 2: pays tribute to Jack's memory and one hundred percent of
- 1:34Speaker 2: the proceeds go to the Children's Heart Foundation, which funds
- 1:39Speaker 2: research to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital
- 1:44Speaker 2: heart defects. Unfortunately, rain got in the way of the
- 1:48Speaker 2: golf this year, but the event still raised more than
- 1:51Speaker 2: twenty thousand dollars and it's only the start.
- 1:55Speaker 1: If you would like to.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Learn more about the tournament or Jack Robert Hobbs and
- 2:00Speaker 2: just search for the Jack Hobson Memorial. Now, let's get
- 2:05Speaker 2: to football. The Bengals concluded their mandatory three day mini
- 2:09Speaker 2: camp on Thursday, meaning the players are now off for
- 2:13Speaker 2: five and a half weeks before training camp begins on
- 2:16Speaker 2: July twenty third. I asked Zach Taylor what he told
- 2:19Speaker 2: the players, particularly the rookies, about how to handle their
- 2:23Speaker 2: upcoming break.
- 2:25Speaker 3: You can't be the reason why we start training camp
- 2:28Speaker 3: slow because you're a starter or a backup at a
- 2:31Speaker 3: key position, and you get start slow because you get
- 2:33Speaker 3: a soft tissue, because you're out of shape, or you
- 2:35Speaker 3: come back and it takes you three days to regain
- 2:37Speaker 3: the knowledge that we've already invested in the offseason. So
- 2:40Speaker 3: we got to hit the ground run and us on
- 2:41Speaker 3: every single player and coach to be able to do
- 2:43Speaker 3: that over these next five weeks. You got to have
- 2:45Speaker 3: a great plan in place to be consistent every single day.
- 2:47Speaker 3: And I can't think of any other way to preach
- 2:49Speaker 3: it other than the ten ways we've done it so
- 2:52Speaker 3: far in these team meetings, and I expect our players
- 2:54Speaker 3: to hold themselves a high standard when they get back.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I've discussed the mandatory mini camp and the open season
- 3:00Speaker 2: program in general with my broadcast partner Dave Lapham Lap.
- 3:06Speaker 2: On Tuesday, the Bengals officially announced the release of Jermaine
- 3:09Speaker 2: Pratt after six seasons. It obviously saves them money towards
- 3:13Speaker 2: the salary cap, more than five million bucks. What is
- 3:17Speaker 2: Jermaine Pratt's legacy as a Cincinnati Bengal Well interesting.
- 3:22Speaker 4: He made a lot of big plays.
- 3:25Speaker 5: He made a lot of players that were determining factor
- 3:28Speaker 5: in the outcome of the football game, not necessarily the
- 3:32Speaker 5: last play of the game, although he did do that,
- 3:35Speaker 5: but not you know, not on a regular basis. All
- 3:38Speaker 5: of his plays weren't that type of play.
- 3:40Speaker 4: But he was.
- 3:43Speaker 5: A guy that when the game was on the line,
- 3:46Speaker 5: he stepped up and played his best and played big.
- 3:49Speaker 5: He was a huge, huge factor defensively. Defensive coordinators, you know,
- 3:55Speaker 5: loved him because he intelligent, had that football IQ. They
- 4:01Speaker 5: would install the defensive game plan and he was all
- 4:05Speaker 5: over it. I mean, he could recite it back to
- 4:06Speaker 5: him immediately, just about had a tremendous memory, and not
- 4:12Speaker 5: just of of you know, schematics and diagrams and that
- 4:17Speaker 5: sort of thing, but of plays of actual, uh you know,
- 4:21Speaker 5: games that he played in and snaps, and and he
- 4:24Speaker 5: could take take those circumstances and those scenarios that he
- 4:31Speaker 5: was put in and apply it to a game later
- 4:33Speaker 5: in his career, maybe even later that season, maybe even
- 4:36Speaker 5: the following week. He was one of those kind of guys,
- 4:40Speaker 5: you know, he would he would not make a mistake
- 4:43Speaker 5: and then the following week make it again, and coaches
- 4:47Speaker 5: hate that, you know, don't make the same mistake twice.
- 4:50Speaker 5: And Jermaine Pratt did not make the same mistake twice,
- 4:53Speaker 5: you know, I mean, I don't think he made the
- 4:55Speaker 5: same mistake twice, probably in his entire career. Sometimes guys
- 4:59Speaker 5: will go, you know, a season or a couple of seasons,
- 5:03Speaker 5: will make the same type of mistake or the same
- 5:06Speaker 5: mistake that they made earlier. Didn't seem like that was
- 5:10Speaker 5: the case with him and all. He really learned from
- 5:13Speaker 5: his mistakes big time. And he was the type of
- 5:17Speaker 5: football player that all defensive coordinators defensive coaches liked in
- 5:21Speaker 5: that he always knew where he was supposed to be,
- 5:25Speaker 5: where he's supposed to go, how he was supposed to
- 5:27Speaker 5: get there. He just a very very high, high level
- 5:32Speaker 5: IQ football player.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Let's hit on some of the newsworthy stuff coming out
- 5:36Speaker 2: of the mandatory mini camp. Number one first round draft
- 5:39Speaker 2: pick Shamar Stewart isn't practicing yet. He's been in meetings,
- 5:43Speaker 2: he's been watching practice from the sidelines, but he has
- 5:46Speaker 2: not taken the field. You did this professionally for twelve years.
- 5:50Speaker 2: At what point does missing practice impact his ability to
- 5:56Speaker 2: be his best in his rookie year.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not.
- 6:00Speaker 5: I don't think it's super critical right now because I mean,
- 6:04Speaker 5: my uh, you know, my rookie season. We just we
- 6:09Speaker 5: showed up a week before the veterans did at training camp.
- 6:11Speaker 4: That was it.
- 6:12Speaker 5: That was the only advantage that we got. But it
- 6:14Speaker 5: was advantage because we were two practices of a day,
- 6:17Speaker 5: every day installation. We had the offense basically installed, and
- 6:21Speaker 5: then the veterans came in and it was a repeat
- 6:23Speaker 5: of it. And that was Paul Brown's brilliant idea. He
- 6:27Speaker 5: had a lot of brilliant ideas in his football career,
- 6:31Speaker 5: for sure, but he felt like, get the rookies get
- 6:34Speaker 5: it under there. Let them get it underneath under their belt.
- 6:37Speaker 5: Learn no no high pressure scenario. They're working against each other,
- 6:43Speaker 5: you know, nobody, no no veteran player, you know, looking
- 6:46Speaker 5: down upon them and maybe being critical of mistakes or
- 6:50Speaker 5: whatever the case may be. And there was a bond
- 6:53Speaker 5: there that you made with other rookies working together for
- 6:56Speaker 5: a week like that when you're going through two practices
- 6:59Speaker 5: a day. And there were some there weren't enough rookies
- 7:02Speaker 5: to line up and conduct a good practice. So there
- 7:05Speaker 5: were for a second even thirty year guys that had
- 7:08Speaker 5: injuries or coming off of whatever situation. The lack of
- 7:12Speaker 5: playing time basically and the coaches wanted to make sure
- 7:15Speaker 5: that they get up the speed faster or as quickly
- 7:17Speaker 5: as they possibly could to give them the best opportunity
- 7:20Speaker 5: to make the football team. So they'd come in with
- 7:22Speaker 5: the rookies and a good group of those. It was
- 7:24Speaker 5: probably like fifty to fifty, and then the veterans would
- 7:27Speaker 5: come in and learn it all over again. The installation,
- 7:30Speaker 5: as Paul would go back to the very beginning with
- 7:33Speaker 5: the veteran players and be one run play in the morning,
- 7:39Speaker 5: one pass play in the afternoon would be installed, and
- 7:41Speaker 5: that was it. And it was It was crazy but effective,
- 7:45Speaker 5: and you just it was burned into your mind.
- 7:48Speaker 4: I mean, PB was.
- 7:49Speaker 5: He was smart and sharp how he did things. But
- 7:52Speaker 5: so I think from a mental standpoint, I don't think
- 7:55Speaker 5: it's going to be killing him all that much. But
- 7:57Speaker 5: he is here, so keep up the speed with the installation.
- 8:03Speaker 5: The mental part of it, his assignments, how his assignments
- 8:06Speaker 5: fit into the entire schematic, and why his assignment is
- 8:09Speaker 5: important to the schematic for the success of the schematic,
- 8:13Speaker 5: and all of that sort of thing. So I think
- 8:16Speaker 5: he actually is in a little bit better situation than that.
- 8:19Speaker 5: He's he's getting mental reps and the physical reps I
- 8:23Speaker 5: think are all. Every rep is important, particularly when you're
- 8:26Speaker 5: just starting out. You can never get enough reps. That's
- 8:29Speaker 5: what Pep always said too, you know, you can never
- 8:32Speaker 5: ever get enough reps. Don't don't don't judge or tell
- 8:38Speaker 5: coaches no, I've had enough. I don't need any more
- 8:41Speaker 5: reps and none of that. So I think the physical
- 8:46Speaker 5: reps are equally important. I mean, the mental reps are valuable,
- 8:51Speaker 5: the physical reps are extremely valuable, and he's missing out
- 8:54Speaker 5: on those and just getting used to the to the
- 8:57Speaker 5: pro game. As a specimen, I mean, he's what six'
- 9:03Speaker 5: five plus two hundred and eighty five pounds plus and
- 9:06Speaker 5: has the statistics of a defensive back a four five
- 9:11Speaker 5: inch vertical, jump ten foot eleven inch prod, jump what
- 9:15Speaker 5: are you kidding? ME i mean it's crazy. Stuff so,
- 9:19Speaker 5: PHYSICALLY i think he's going to be. Fine but and
- 9:24Speaker 5: he played he played in a good, conference and he
- 9:27Speaker 5: played on a good football team with very good defensive
- 9:30Speaker 5: linemen around. Him so he's used to working against a
- 9:33Speaker 5: good offensive line and practice in. College but come to THE,
- 9:38Speaker 5: nfl it is it's. DIFFERENT i, mean there are a
- 9:41Speaker 5: lot of really good football players walking around out there
- 9:44Speaker 5: that didn't make AN nfl, Franchise so it's it's the
- 9:47Speaker 5: best of the, best the cream of the, crop and
- 9:49Speaker 5: working against that is an, adjustment working against that type
- 9:53Speaker 5: of skill, level particularly one that's experienced and knows all
- 9:57Speaker 5: the tricks of the trade and all that sort of. Thing,
- 9:59Speaker 5: so you, KNOW i do Think i'm a believer that
- 10:03Speaker 5: reps are. Important every rep you miss is one that
- 10:05Speaker 5: you're never going to be able to make. Up so
- 10:08Speaker 5: hopefully he doesn't miss too many because even these ALTHOUGH i,
- 10:12Speaker 5: think you, know the significance of these are at the
- 10:16Speaker 5: bottom of the totem pole one considered with all the.
- 10:19Speaker 4: Others BUT.
- 10:23Speaker 5: I hate to see young players just misreps at any.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Level then There's Trey, hendrickson who did not report for
- 10:29Speaker 2: mandatory mini, camp so he's subject to more than one hundred.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Thousand dollars in.
- 10:33Speaker 2: FINES i still think he's going to play for The
- 10:36Speaker 2: bengals this. Year AM i being naive what ultimately happens
- 10:39Speaker 2: in this?
- 10:39Speaker 4: STANDOFF i think he. PLAYS i agree with. YOU i
- 10:44Speaker 4: think he.
- 10:44Speaker 5: PLAYS i think That who AM i to judge what's
- 10:49Speaker 5: fair for a? PLAYER a player is going to judge
- 10:51Speaker 5: what's fair for himself in terms of a. Contract this
- 10:53Speaker 5: guy's special seventeen and a half sacks led the, league
- 10:57Speaker 5: thirty five sacks the last two years led the. League
- 11:00Speaker 5: when you have a proven pass rusher like, that you
- 11:03Speaker 5: can't let them. Go you got to you gotta get
- 11:05Speaker 5: them under. Contract AND i think they will And, DAN i,
- 11:09Speaker 5: mean they know the, money the amount of money that
- 11:12Speaker 5: it's going to take to sign. THEM i think it's
- 11:14Speaker 5: it's just Like Schmar. Stewart it's terms and. Conditions in both.
- 11:18Speaker 5: Cases they know what the dollar figures are in terms
- 11:22Speaker 5: of years and per year, compensation all that sort of,
- 11:26Speaker 5: thing but terms and, conditions how much, bonus how much
- 11:29Speaker 5: ones it paid, Out what kind of deferral are we talking?
- 11:32Speaker 5: ABOUT i, mean things of that. Nature and if they
- 11:35Speaker 5: can get the terms and conditions squared, away you know
- 11:39Speaker 5: they'll they'll be In they'll be reporting to. CAMP i
- 11:41Speaker 5: think that they'll both be in training. Camp are they
- 11:45Speaker 5: going to make all a training? Camp they're gonna be
- 11:47Speaker 5: in every preseason? Game probably, Not BUT i think they
- 11:52Speaker 5: all report before training camp. Ends both of them report
- 11:55Speaker 5: before training camp. Ends i'm crossing, everything crossing every FINGER i.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Can let's talk about guys that are actually, here AND
- 12:02Speaker 2: i want to start with the offensive. Line they're set
- 12:04Speaker 2: at tackle With Orlando Brown junior And Marius. Mems they're
- 12:08Speaker 2: set at center With Ted. Carris so the guard spots
- 12:11Speaker 2: are the question marks right. Now Rookie Dylan fairchild is
- 12:15Speaker 2: running with the ones that left guard right. Guard early
- 12:19Speaker 2: in the, Practices Cody ford was getting a lot of
- 12:21Speaker 2: reps with the. Ones more recently it's Been Lucas. PATRICK
- 12:24Speaker 2: i think it's probably going to be one of those
- 12:26Speaker 2: two guys when we get to the start of the.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Season what do you think of the? Group what do
- 12:30Speaker 2: you think of this offensive line and the likelihood that
- 12:33Speaker 2: it's going to be better than it's.
- 12:34Speaker 5: BEEN i think that the offensive line is going to
- 12:38Speaker 5: be much better than it's. BEEN i really, Do, dan you,
- 12:40Speaker 5: know and it's not you, know oh, yeah, yeah it's
- 12:45Speaker 5: just the eternal optimism speaking and all that sort of.
- 12:48Speaker 5: THING i, MEAN i think the people that you talk,
- 12:50Speaker 5: About i've got tremendous confidence in what those tackles can.
- 12:54Speaker 5: Do they are genetic, freaks they are physical. MARVELS i,
- 12:58Speaker 5: mean you, know eight plus three hundred and thirty five
- 13:02Speaker 5: to fifty pounds and long, arms big, hands tremendous, feet you,
- 13:08Speaker 5: know in terms of being able to move their feet
- 13:11Speaker 5: and laterally and change, direction and it's incredible the size
- 13:17Speaker 5: of these behemoths with their ability to bend the, knees
- 13:20Speaker 5: bend at their hips and lower their pad level and
- 13:23Speaker 5: move and be. ATHLETIC i think they're as good as
- 13:27Speaker 5: tanamisers in The National Football. LEAGUE i think teams in
- 13:31Speaker 5: The National Football league have a tackle as good as
- 13:33Speaker 5: one of as those. TWO i don't think there's any
- 13:36Speaker 5: other team in THE nfl has got two tackles the
- 13:38Speaker 5: caliber of those two. GUYS i think that's a huge.
- 13:41Speaker 5: EDGE i think that's a big. Advantage so you know
- 13:45Speaker 5: what had to be reworked the interior the offensive, line
- 13:48Speaker 5: And Ted krriss is going to be the, center and
- 13:50Speaker 5: he's the, captain you, know and he had a solid
- 13:52Speaker 5: year for. Sure Ted krriss is a tremendous leader of.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Men he knows the game of football as well.
- 13:58Speaker 4: As the coaches.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Do extremely.
- 14:01Speaker 5: Intelligent he can come up and recognize defenses and help a.
- 14:07Speaker 5: Quarterback he can recognize things before the quarterback and a
- 14:10Speaker 5: lot of times the quarterback are depending on him to
- 14:13Speaker 5: call out. Fronts and alignments and all that sort of
- 14:17Speaker 5: thing in the defensive line when he's making calls to
- 14:19Speaker 5: his offensive. Lineman so the guards are the, area like
- 14:23Speaker 5: you talk about that you need to see if you
- 14:26Speaker 5: can upgrade. Things AND i, AGREE i think the three
- 14:29Speaker 5: guys you talked about will be the. Three will it
- 14:34Speaker 5: be a rotation in, THERE i don't. Know you, Know Cody,
- 14:36Speaker 5: FORD i think has got a little bit of work to,
- 14:40Speaker 5: do drop some tonnage before training, camp AND i think
- 14:42Speaker 5: he's proven that he can play and very, athletic a
- 14:46Speaker 5: big guy that can really move and can play both,
- 14:49Speaker 5: tackles can play both. Guards in my, mind he could
- 14:52Speaker 5: play center as, well and that that versatility is something
- 14:55Speaker 5: that is, rare you know It not every not every
- 14:59Speaker 5: player can do. That so when you have a guy
- 15:01Speaker 5: Like Cody ford that can do, it you have a
- 15:02Speaker 5: valuable commodity right. There but, YEAH i THINK i think
- 15:06Speaker 5: fairchild is is going to be.
- 15:08Speaker 4: GOOD i think he's.
- 15:10Speaker 5: STOUT i think his his lower body is very, strong
- 15:16Speaker 5: and you know he's WHEN i watch him on, tape
- 15:19Speaker 5: his pad level is really. Good you, know he's really
- 15:22Speaker 5: bending well at the, knees in the in the. Waist
- 15:26Speaker 5: that's youth and lack of injury is probably part of.
- 15:29Speaker 5: It but some guys never are able to bend like
- 15:33Speaker 5: like he can. BEND i, mean that's that's an athletic
- 15:35Speaker 5: skill of skill sets to have and for, alignment it's
- 15:39Speaker 5: it's a must to. Have and when you have, IT i,
- 15:43Speaker 5: mean you don't want to lose. It you know you
- 15:45Speaker 5: got and it's something you want to. Have and he.
- 15:47Speaker 5: Does he's got length to his, arms so he can you, know, he'll,
- 15:52Speaker 5: uh he'll lock. Out and when he locks, out he's
- 15:55Speaker 5: got people at. Bay he's got his hands inside the
- 15:58Speaker 5: framework of the body and he'll he'll either jam with
- 16:01Speaker 5: his hands inside or he'll stagger uh at with the
- 16:04Speaker 5: numbers of a little high low. Jam and he's very
- 16:08Speaker 5: there's some sophistication to his. GAME i mean he's not
- 16:11Speaker 5: he's not like some little novice out. There you know.
- 16:13Speaker 5: That uh oh, yeah dumb. ROOK i mean this, guy,
- 16:16Speaker 5: no this guy is a football player that played in THE,
- 16:18Speaker 5: sec had played At. GEORGIA i, mean it doesn't get
- 16:22Speaker 5: any better than, that you, Know and he's got the
- 16:25Speaker 5: guys he played against or are there's a bunch of
- 16:27Speaker 5: in The National Football league and, uh you, know guys
- 16:31Speaker 5: that he played against and in this college, season his
- 16:35Speaker 5: when when he came out this, year when they were
- 16:37Speaker 5: seniors and or underclassmen or whatever that declare for THE nfl.
- 16:42Speaker 5: DRAFT i, mean they're good football. Players so this guy
- 16:46Speaker 5: has been to battle with the. Best AND i think
- 16:50Speaker 5: when you when you played at that kind of level
- 16:53Speaker 5: of college, FOOTBALL i think the transitions maybe a little.
- 16:56Speaker 5: Smoother i'm not going to say, easy but maybe a
- 16:59Speaker 5: little easier for a guy like. That and the good
- 17:03Speaker 5: news is that he's also good football. Acumen he understands
- 17:06Speaker 5: the game an extremely high level intelligent not only from
- 17:10Speaker 5: a FOOTBALL, iq but an overall, intelligence good, communicator you,
- 17:15Speaker 5: know sees. Things is an aware football. Player Paul brown
- 17:19Speaker 5: used to talk about being, aware you, know aware of your,
- 17:22Speaker 5: surroundings aware of your, environment aware of what's going, on
- 17:25Speaker 5: and aware of what you're supposed to do and how
- 17:27Speaker 5: you're supposed to do, it and damn, it do it
- 17:29Speaker 5: the right. Way and THAT'S i think that's what they,
- 17:31Speaker 5: have you, know in Fair. Child so, YEAH i THINK
- 17:36Speaker 5: i think it's going to be an interesting. Battle and
- 17:38Speaker 5: Then patrick a big veteran offensive. Lineman he's got a
- 17:41Speaker 5: lot of games under his. Belt he's seeing everything that
- 17:45Speaker 5: you can. SEE i don't think there's a defensive quarter
- 17:48Speaker 5: in THE nfl or be.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Able to fool.
- 17:49Speaker 5: Him it's, like, oh, MAN i haven't seen that. Before
- 17:52Speaker 5: when you've played that many, games that many, snaps you've seen.
- 17:55Speaker 5: Everything SO i think he's going to be a plus as.
- 17:58Speaker 5: Well AND i think the communication and that's going to
- 18:00Speaker 5: go on With Ted carris and a guy like, him you,
- 18:04Speaker 5: know it will be unbelievable and it will help the
- 18:06Speaker 5: young tackle playing next to, him and you Know Ted Ted.
- 18:10Speaker 5: Will If fairchild is the left, guard Fair child will
- 18:13Speaker 5: be a. Rookie but like we're talking, ABOUT i think
- 18:15Speaker 5: he has the football acumen in AN iq of better
- 18:18Speaker 5: than a. Rookie and that'll be the area Where Ted,
- 18:22Speaker 5: will you, know have to really make sure that the
- 18:25Speaker 5: communication is up to snuff at a high level because
- 18:30Speaker 5: you get young players on that left side at left
- 18:33Speaker 5: guard and left. Tackle BUT i, think, man the, athleticism
- 18:37Speaker 5: the overall talent level of those five guys is pretty pretty.
- 18:45Speaker 5: Impressive and when you look at, It, dan they're, young you,
- 18:48Speaker 5: KNOW i, Mean patrick's got some years on, Him carris
- 18:50Speaker 5: has got some years on. Him other than that the
- 18:52Speaker 5: other three man we're, talking we're talking in the early
- 18:57Speaker 5: stages of their, career so there's a lot of meat
- 18:59Speaker 5: on the bone and there's a lot of development that
- 19:01Speaker 5: can go on. There and, uh you, KNOW I i think, that,
- 19:05Speaker 5: uh you, know Coach peters is the guy to to
- 19:08Speaker 5: get it out of. HIM i think he's gonna he's
- 19:10Speaker 5: gonna develop these guys big. Time and it's gonna be
- 19:14Speaker 5: interesting to see the whole thing come.
- 19:16Speaker 4: Together from.
- 19:19Speaker 5: Actually what's going on now and uh organized team activities
- 19:23Speaker 5: and mandatory mini camps and so. Forth but it's it's
- 19:26Speaker 5: there's not a whole lot of hitting going. On i'm
- 19:29Speaker 5: interested to see how it all comes together when training camp.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Starts let me ask you about a couple of wide
- 19:35Speaker 2: receivers not Named Jamar chase AND T. HIGGINS i ASKED
- 19:39Speaker 2: t About Andrea.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Yossi vais last.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Week he was effusive in his, praise saying that he's, bigger, stronger, faster.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Twitchier are people sleeping On andrea yosibash?
- 19:51Speaker 5: Probably you, KNOW i THINK i think there's a there's
- 19:54Speaker 5: a good, chance and you, KNOW i guess it might
- 19:59Speaker 5: be a little bit Under hannibal when you know the average.
- 20:02Speaker 5: Fan oh you know the man The Cincinnati. Bengals are
- 20:05Speaker 5: you kidding? Me Jamar chas and T. Higgins you have
- 20:08Speaker 5: a duo like that that are both amongst the best,
- 20:12Speaker 5: five maybe the best three or the best two in THE,
- 20:15Speaker 5: nfl and they're both in the same. Team other guys
- 20:19Speaker 5: can kind of get lost in the shuffle a little.
- 20:20Speaker 5: Bit BUT i think coaches and other players around THE, nfl,
- 20:25Speaker 5: no The bengals have more players than just those two.
- 20:29Speaker 5: Guys not to admit those those those players and. Coaches
- 20:32Speaker 5: they're not saying that they aren't great. Players they're saying
- 20:35Speaker 5: The bengals have two great players, there but they're also
- 20:38Speaker 5: saying that there are other. Players and you look At
- 20:41Speaker 5: kasiki at the tight end. Position he almost in a
- 20:44Speaker 5: lot of people's minds around the league translates to like
- 20:48Speaker 5: a third receiver because he'll go in the slot and
- 20:50Speaker 5: he'll he'll, motion he'll do things like a you, know
- 20:53Speaker 5: a slot wideout will do with a big body and
- 20:56Speaker 5: long arms and strong hands and all that sort of.
- 20:58Speaker 5: Thing it runs good routes and has really good speed
- 21:01Speaker 5: for his. Size his size speed ratios. Outstanding Andrey yosi
- 21:06Speaker 5: vash as a true third receiver IS i think on
- 21:10Speaker 5: the cusp of becoming a big factor in The National Football,
- 21:14Speaker 5: league because when you have two like, uh you, Know
- 21:19Speaker 5: chase And, higgins there's gonna be opportunity for. Others it's
- 21:23Speaker 5: it's you, know they're gonna they're gonna double those two.
- 21:26Speaker 5: Guys so if you've got just both those guys on
- 21:30Speaker 5: the outside and you have four defensive backs to, safeties two,
- 21:34Speaker 5: corners you, know double both these receivers that are on the.
- 21:37Speaker 5: Outside you gotta roll safeties over the. Top there's the
- 21:40Speaker 5: four dbs on those two. Guys so now you're talking, about,
- 21:43Speaker 5: okay we'll run other dbs in their safety corner types or.
- 21:47Speaker 5: Whatever or you're talking about a mismatch on linebackers if
- 21:50Speaker 5: they don't go base. Defense so if, they you, know
- 21:53Speaker 5: stay based, defense you're gonna have matchups of those type
- 21:56Speaker 5: of receivers with that skill set on linebacker. Types, so you,
- 22:00Speaker 5: KNOW i think that the depth in the of talent
- 22:04Speaker 5: that The Cincinnati bengals have at wide receiver and tight,
- 22:07Speaker 5: end they're gonna be. MISMATCHES i, mean defensives don't have
- 22:12Speaker 5: they can't find enough cover. GUYS i, mean nobody has
- 22:16Speaker 5: enough cover guys to handle all of those. Guys So
- 22:20Speaker 5: Joe burrow is gonna be slicing and dison. Man he's
- 22:24Speaker 5: gonna find the. Weakness he's gonna find the best matchup
- 22:26Speaker 5: and that's where the football's. Going and if, they you,
- 22:29Speaker 5: know do something to alleviate that, problem there's gonna be
- 22:33Speaker 5: another problem that crops, up and he's gonna he's gonna
- 22:35Speaker 5: dissect that. Problem SO i think that Watching Joe burrow
- 22:40Speaker 5: throw the football to this group of talent receivers at
- 22:44Speaker 5: a wide receiver and tight end is going to be
- 22:47Speaker 5: fun For bengals. Fans it's gonna be it's gonna be
- 22:51Speaker 5: passing game offense at the highest level possible in The
- 22:55Speaker 5: National Football league here In. Cincinnati and you, know goes
- 22:59Speaker 5: back to what we just talked about, Earlier, dan the
- 23:01Speaker 5: old lineman they got to protect.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Better then There's Jermaine, burton who appears to be doing
- 23:07Speaker 2: all the right things to try to earn the trust
- 23:09Speaker 2: back from his coaches and. Teammates are you buying into
- 23:12Speaker 2: The Jermaine burton redemption.
- 23:14Speaker 5: Arc he's doing all the right, things you, know and
- 23:19Speaker 5: he's looking to be that fourth, guy that fourth wide.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Receiver now we talked about you, Know gasiki is even
- 23:24Speaker 5: a third receiver And yosi is a fourth Or yosi
- 23:27Speaker 5: is a third wide. Receiver and now you've got you,
- 23:29Speaker 5: know the tight, ends and there's multiple receivers at the
- 23:32Speaker 5: tight end position as, well not Just Mike. Kasiki SO
- 23:35Speaker 5: i mean The bengals are blessed with, many many. Weapons
- 23:39Speaker 5: but you, know you got a young guy In burton
- 23:41Speaker 5: that he's got all the physical attributes that a wide
- 23:46Speaker 5: receiver could. Want he's got, size he's got, speed he's
- 23:51Speaker 5: got ability to change, direction get in and out of.
- 23:55Speaker 5: CUTS i, mean this guy can sink his hips and
- 23:57Speaker 5: create separation and you, know cut on a. Dime and
- 24:02Speaker 5: when when you've got receivers that are are absolutely just
- 24:06Speaker 5: sinking their, hips planting that left foot and cutting on
- 24:09Speaker 5: a you, know ninety degree angle to the sideline or
- 24:14Speaker 5: to an open, AREA i, mean that's that's. Tough that's
- 24:16Speaker 5: tough to. Handle and they they've got guys that can do,
- 24:19Speaker 5: it And burton's one of. Them burton's got really good.
- 24:23Speaker 5: HANDS i mean he's got soft, hands he catches the
- 24:26Speaker 5: ball very. Easily he's got length to, him so he
- 24:29Speaker 5: can be a. MISMATCH i, MEAN i THINK i think he's.
- 24:32Speaker 5: DECEPTIVE i think a lot of times you see him
- 24:35Speaker 5: in practice and you, know he's down the football field
- 24:38Speaker 5: and jump all situation he's. Winning he's winning every one
- 24:40Speaker 5: of them because he's longer than you think he. Is
- 24:43Speaker 5: and he times has jumped very. Well that's the big thing.
- 24:47Speaker 5: Is you, know jumping ability is, great but if you
- 24:49Speaker 5: jump too, soon you're on your way. Down the ball
- 24:51Speaker 5: hasn't arrived. Yet you, know he has a great ability
- 24:54Speaker 5: to times jump and catch it at the. Apex you,
- 24:57Speaker 5: know the high point of his jump is when the
- 25:00Speaker 5: football is uh is is there for to take advantage
- 25:04Speaker 5: of and and uh make a catch over the defender
- 25:07Speaker 5: and he can he can do that very. WELL i
- 25:10Speaker 5: THINK i think this guy's the limit for. Him it's
- 25:13Speaker 5: up to. Him you, know he has to be able
- 25:15Speaker 5: to take care of. Business he has to be a.
- 25:20Speaker 5: Pro he has to learn and understand his. Playbook he
- 25:24Speaker 5: has to be on top of every single. Assignment he
- 25:26Speaker 5: has to gain the trust Of Joe burrow and don't lose,
- 25:29Speaker 5: it and he has to gain the trust of all
- 25:32Speaker 5: his teammates and don't lose. It is that this, guy
- 25:35Speaker 5: if he, can you, know not make critical. Mistakes anytime
- 25:42Speaker 5: in the football game you're making a mistake is not
- 25:44Speaker 5: it's not good. Obviously but if it's a big third
- 25:47Speaker 5: down and they do have double, coverage you know on
- 25:50Speaker 5: the on the two, stars and And burton is the
- 25:53Speaker 5: guy that.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Is, okay he's he's the.
- 25:56Speaker 5: OPTION i, Mean joe's thinking if they if they double
- 26:00Speaker 5: to Outside, Burton i've got a mismatch, here and it
- 26:04Speaker 5: unfolds exactly that, way And burton makes a mistake And
- 26:07Speaker 5: joe throws a, Pick it's. Over it's. Over the trust
- 26:10Speaker 5: is over. There you, know you've got to respect and
- 26:12Speaker 5: trust each other as, teammates and, uh you know that's
- 26:15Speaker 5: what you have to have big time between wide receivers and.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Quarterbacks let's move to a few defensive. Topics it's been
- 26:22Speaker 2: interesting to watch during the OTAs and mini camp and
- 26:25Speaker 2: now the mandatory mini. Camp Al golden is moving his
- 26:29Speaker 2: cornerbacks around quite a bit outside, slot either, side it's et.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Cetera do you think he's just trying to figure out
- 26:37Speaker 2: who belongs where or is that something that they can
- 26:40Speaker 2: do in the.
- 26:41Speaker 5: SEASON i THINK i think it's a little bit of.
- 26:45Speaker 5: BOTH i THINK i think it's he's he's he values
- 26:50Speaker 5: versatility in all of his, players even even with the defensive.
- 26:54Speaker 5: Lineman he doesn't want just a nose, tackle you. Know
- 26:58Speaker 5: he wants a guy that can play goes tackling one.
- 27:00Speaker 5: Technique he wants a defensive tackle to play one technique
- 27:04Speaker 5: the inside shoulder of the guard or a three technique
- 27:07Speaker 5: the outside shoulder of a. Guard he wants defensive ends
- 27:10Speaker 5: and can line, up you, know head up on an
- 27:12Speaker 5: offensive tackle all the way out to you, know way,
- 27:15Speaker 5: wide like a nine, technique way out on the on the.
- 27:17Speaker 5: Edge SO i mean that's the first utility he's looking
- 27:20Speaker 5: at with guys up, front. Linebackers he's looking at guys
- 27:23Speaker 5: that can can do do multiple. Things go, smash come
- 27:28Speaker 5: downhill and smash a guy in the running game and
- 27:31Speaker 5: get a knock back and separate and make a, tackle you.
- 27:36Speaker 5: Know but he wants guys that can. Blitz he wants
- 27:39Speaker 5: guys that can drop in the. Coverage he wants players
- 27:42Speaker 5: that can do a myriad of. Things Because Al golden's
- 27:47Speaker 5: game is he's Got Encyclopedia britannica the things that he
- 27:52Speaker 5: can do to. You and it's it's interesting the way
- 27:54Speaker 5: he gets to it because it's not like a million different,
- 27:59Speaker 5: Alignments but what he's got within his configurations and alignments
- 28:03Speaker 5: is a myriad of different, looks you, Know and all
- 28:06Speaker 5: you need is about you, know if you're if you're
- 28:10Speaker 5: lining up and you have to win in your base
- 28:14Speaker 5: the key is you have to be able to handle
- 28:16Speaker 5: the opponent into your base. Defense if you're getting destroyed
- 28:20Speaker 5: in your base, defense tricking ain't. Happening it's not gonna.
- 28:24Speaker 5: Work it's not it's just not gonna that's not the
- 28:26Speaker 5: way it. Works and in The National Football league or
- 28:29Speaker 5: any level of football. Really but if you if you can,
- 28:32Speaker 5: hint if you're knocking them back and you're capturing the
- 28:34Speaker 5: line of scrimmage and all that sort of thing in
- 28:36Speaker 5: your base, look and then you start running all the
- 28:38Speaker 5: stuff that Dal golden's got in his back pocket and
- 28:42Speaker 5: in his game plan and, playbook they could be.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Good they could be.
- 28:46Speaker 5: Good and they've got versatile athletes at all those, levels
- 28:50Speaker 5: like you, Say, dan even at corner and. SAFETY i,
- 28:52Speaker 5: mean if you've got position versatility, THERE i, mean look
- 28:56Speaker 5: At Dax. Hill you know he's coming off of injury,
- 28:58Speaker 5: obviously acl he missed the last but five GAMES i
- 29:02Speaker 5: think of.
- 29:02Speaker 4: The only missed the staff only played five, okay.
- 29:06Speaker 5: Only played five. GAMES i mean this guy can line up, anywhere, corner, strong,
- 29:11Speaker 5: FREE i, mean he can line up, anywhere do. Anything
- 29:14Speaker 5: that's that's the kind of. Thing that's the kind of
- 29:15Speaker 5: tool that that you, Know Al golden likes to have
- 29:19Speaker 5: in his toolbox and be able to utilize him and
- 29:22Speaker 5: Get like we talked about, mismatches this game is all about.
- 29:26Speaker 5: Mismatches you, know whether it's if you if you can
- 29:30Speaker 5: find a mismatch like we talked about with, bass if
- 29:34Speaker 5: you've got your defensive, end Is i'm going to handle
- 29:39Speaker 5: the right tackle the entire. Game you got a mismatch
- 29:43Speaker 5: and you're making them do something to handle your. Guy
- 29:46Speaker 5: your guy's too good for the guy that's going he's
- 29:49Speaker 5: going up against in the other, team they put a
- 29:52Speaker 5: tight end over, there they chip on the back to do,
- 29:54Speaker 5: whatever and Now Al golden can start doing things based
- 29:58Speaker 5: off of what They're the adjustment. There making, football Like
- 30:01Speaker 5: Paul brown talked, about is always adjustments and adjustments to,
- 30:06Speaker 5: adjustments And Al golden is one of the BEST i
- 30:09Speaker 5: think in TODAY'S nfl adjusting to adjustments and making you
- 30:14Speaker 5: make adjustments offensively with what he's doing.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Defensively al is one of several new coaches on the.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Staff There's Jerry, Montgomery Mike, codges And Scott, peters and
- 30:24Speaker 2: then they have assistants as well that have joined the coaching.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Staff but those guys THAT i mentioned are all younger
- 30:31Speaker 2: than the coaches that they. Replaced is there something to
- 30:34Speaker 2: that having guys that are closer to your.
- 30:37Speaker 5: AGE i think there. Is you, know the first thing
- 30:40Speaker 5: they that they have to be able to. Do Paul
- 30:42Speaker 5: brown was was was really good with. THIS i don't
- 30:47Speaker 5: care how old you, are how young you, are you
- 30:50Speaker 5: got to be able to.
- 30:50Speaker 4: Coach damn.
- 30:51Speaker 5: It if you can't, coach the player is going to
- 30:53Speaker 5: figure you. Out and if if you're not getting it
- 30:56Speaker 5: getting it done in terms of winning their trust in
- 31:02Speaker 5: what you're doing on a, practice, routine practice, schedule putting
- 31:07Speaker 5: each other game. Plans if they don't respect what you're
- 31:10Speaker 5: doing and trust that you're putting them in the best
- 31:12Speaker 5: position to position to, win it doesn't matter how old
- 31:14Speaker 5: you are or how young you, are but all things being,
- 31:18Speaker 5: equal if you've got guys that are good in that,
- 31:21Speaker 5: regard youth helps my, opinion IT'S i mean it's a
- 31:26Speaker 5: young person's, game, REALLY i mean the hours that they
- 31:30Speaker 5: have to, spend it's JUST i, think you, know, YOUNGER
- 31:33Speaker 5: i mean working the seventy seventy five hour week putting
- 31:37Speaker 5: together game. Plans And i'm not saying, that you, know
- 31:39Speaker 5: guys in their sixties and seventies can't do. It they've
- 31:41Speaker 5: done it and they'll continue to do. It BUT i
- 31:44Speaker 5: just think that the energy and enthusiasm that these young
- 31:49Speaker 5: guys That i'm seeing out in the football field right,
- 31:52Speaker 5: now if that continues, IT i think it's going to
- 31:55Speaker 5: even even maybe jump a notch or two once pads
- 31:59Speaker 5: come on and you start really getting after each. Other
- 32:02Speaker 5: in training, CAMP i think practice is gonna be whoa,
- 32:04Speaker 5: man here we. Go they're gonna be like very very
- 32:11Speaker 5: fun to. Watch it's gonna be high, intensity high, productivity.
- 32:15Speaker 5: PHYSICALITY i, Think, UH i think training camp is gonna
- 32:19Speaker 5: be gonna be a, blast AND i think they're gonna
- 32:21Speaker 5: play that. WAY i think that there they're gonna be
- 32:26Speaker 5: teams are gonna have a snoopful as As pev used
- 32:29Speaker 5: to call. It every. Week make sure you're you're out
- 32:32Speaker 5: there getting after it and, uh finishing every play and
- 32:37Speaker 5: make life difficult to the.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Opponent All, right one more, question and it's not A
- 32:42Speaker 2: bengals question per, se it's AN Afc north. Question what
- 32:45Speaker 2: do you make of The steelers Signing Aaron rodgers and
- 32:50Speaker 2: does it drastically change your opinion Of pittsburgh's ability to
- 32:54Speaker 2: potentially compete With cincinnati And baltimore for the division?
- 32:57Speaker 5: Title, YEAH i, MEAN i think the and the signing
- 33:01Speaker 5: Of Aaron rodgers is it's a. Plus it's got to.
- 33:05Speaker 5: BE i, MEAN i think he definitely upgrades your quarterback.
- 33:09Speaker 5: ROOM i know he's what forty years, OLD i know
- 33:12Speaker 5: he's not what he, was but, man he can still
- 33:15Speaker 5: spin the spin the.
- 33:16Speaker 4: Pigskin.
- 33:17Speaker 5: Man the guy can throw, it and he can throw it,
- 33:20Speaker 5: accurately and he can throw it long. Distances pittsburgh runs
- 33:24Speaker 5: the ball so effectively to have him to think about
- 33:27Speaker 5: him throwing the football for The Pittsburgh. Steelers if they
- 33:30Speaker 5: get that running game, going, man that's a that's a,
- 33:33Speaker 5: problem the problem to deal with for. SURE i know
- 33:36Speaker 5: the all the receiving corps and the tight end groups
- 33:39Speaker 5: and backs out of the, backfield they're all excited about
- 33:42Speaker 5: catching the football From Aaron rodgers, defensively it lifts.
- 33:46Speaker 4: That group up because you've Got Aaron. Rodgers.
- 33:48Speaker 5: MAN i, mean we lost a bunch of games in
- 33:51Speaker 5: the fourth, quarter and you know With Aaron. Rodgers Aaron,
- 33:55Speaker 5: rodgers his mwas win games in the fourth. Quarter and
- 33:58Speaker 5: that's you, know that's basically what every football team has
- 34:02Speaker 5: to do to make the. Playoffs his win games in
- 34:05Speaker 5: the fourth. Quarter in THE, nfl a ton of games
- 34:08Speaker 5: are one. Score you gotta you gotta get you gotta
- 34:11Speaker 5: get it done in the fourth quarter to win your
- 34:12Speaker 5: share of important football. Games and he's done that during
- 34:15Speaker 5: the course of his. Career BUT i think he was
- 34:20Speaker 5: Amazing dan four out of five. YEARS i think he
- 34:23Speaker 5: won the m V p two went off two and
- 34:28Speaker 5: the dude could, run could, throw he could do.
- 34:32Speaker 4: ANYTHING i, mean he was.
- 34:33Speaker 5: Remarkable he was you couldn't defend the.
- 34:37Speaker 4: Guy he's not that guy. Anymore AND i.
- 34:40Speaker 5: Think, again you Know Al golden and his packages and
- 34:43Speaker 5: the performance of the, players you, know executing those. Packages
- 34:48Speaker 5: they got to bottle of Of Aaron rodgers and The Pittsburgh.
- 34:50Speaker 5: Steelers BUT i do think That Aaron rodgers makes them
- 34:54Speaker 5: a different football team. Offensively if he's the guy there's
- 34:58Speaker 5: no question about.
- 34:59Speaker 2: It you're telling me he's an upgrade From Mason. Rudolph.
- 35:05Speaker 5: YEAH i Like Mason. RUDOLF i like him a, Lot
- 35:09Speaker 5: but heat No Aaron.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Rodgers as you probably, Know lap is one of nine
- 35:17Speaker 2: candidates to join The Bengals ring Of honor this, year
- 35:20Speaker 2: along With Jim, Breech James, Brooks Chris, Collinsworth David, Fulcher Max,
- 35:26Speaker 2: Montoya Lamar, Parrish Bob trumpey And Reggie. Williams the top

- 36:13Speaker 2: lot of yards in your, lifetime more than forty four
- 36:16Speaker 2: hundred in high, school more than forty five hundred in.
- 36:19Speaker 1: College here's my.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Question do you remember when you first knew that guys
- 36:26Speaker 2: couldn't tackle you as a?
- 36:27Speaker 6: Kid, yes, sir WHEN i was eight years old playing
- 36:30Speaker 6: little leaf. Football you, know it was just you, know
- 36:32Speaker 6: my mentality WHEN i was, LITTLE i just didn't WANT
- 36:34Speaker 6: i didn't want nobody to tackle. ME i want to score,
- 36:36Speaker 6: touchdowns and that was just my mentality just going in the,
- 36:39Speaker 6: game you, know going in within a week prep and
- 36:42Speaker 6: things like.
- 36:42Speaker 2: That so question number two For Taj, brooks who is
- 36:46Speaker 2: your all time favorite running back and?
- 36:48Speaker 6: WHY i will say Either Javid bess from he played
- 36:53Speaker 6: At Cal berkeley and then Or Marshawn. Lynch i'll just
- 36:56Speaker 6: say just the dog mentality of just not getting, tackled
- 36:59Speaker 6: being a a versatile running back and things like. That
- 37:01Speaker 6: so those two.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Guys Was marshawn's Beast quake run the most entertaining run?
- 37:07Speaker 6: Ever, yeah, definitely, MAN i.
- 37:09Speaker 7: WAS i was probably one.
- 37:10Speaker 6: Of the best. RUNS i didn't seen like ON tv watching,
- 37:13Speaker 6: it so it was it was a nice. Run, man
- 37:15Speaker 6: it was.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Crazy question number three For Taj.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Brooks in addition to your great playing career At Texas,
- 37:20Speaker 2: tech you were a finalist for The Campbell, trophy which
- 37:23Speaker 2: they call the Academic. HEISMAN i read that you graduated
- 37:26Speaker 2: with a three point five to SIX. Gpa did school
- 37:30Speaker 2: come easily or did you really have to work at
- 37:32Speaker 2: it to have grades like?
- 37:34Speaker 6: THAT i would SAY i just really have to work at.
- 37:37Speaker 6: It kudos to my academic staff At Texas. Tech they
- 37:40Speaker 6: did a tremendous job of just helped me and got
- 37:42Speaker 6: me in the right situations THAT i. Can but it
- 37:44Speaker 6: was a lot of. Work it was a lot of hard.
- 37:46Speaker 6: Work you know in, college you, know a student, athlete
- 37:48Speaker 6: you got to you gotta have the grad the good.
- 37:50Speaker 6: Grades you gotta stay eligible to play. Football so that's
- 37:52Speaker 6: just SOMETHING i always loved AND i love. Football so
- 37:54Speaker 6: Whatever i'm gonna do to keep playing, Football i'm gonna
- 37:56Speaker 6: do it at the highest letball.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Can question number four For Taj.
- 37:59Speaker 2: BROOKS i watched a video profile of you That Texas
- 38:03Speaker 2: tech did and in, it you put ketchup on something
- 38:07Speaker 2: that discussed your. Quarterback he says it was a crime to.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Society do you remember what it, Was and do you
- 38:14Speaker 2: like putting ketchup on just about?
- 38:16Speaker 1: Everything?
- 38:17Speaker 6: Oh, man it's, crazy ketsup Is it's, OKAY i like,
- 38:20Speaker 6: ketsup But i'm really a ranch. Guy but accord to.
- 38:24Speaker 6: That my Quarterback Baron moore than great. Die he should
- 38:27Speaker 6: be should be in the. Draft Maket, sure he's gonna
- 38:29Speaker 6: probably go on the top of the. Draft but, MAN
- 38:32Speaker 6: i put ketsup on.
- 38:33Speaker 8: Salmon it's the, fish you.
- 38:34Speaker 6: KNOW i just love it and it tastes. Good so
- 38:36Speaker 6: that's WHAT i.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Did that does not seem like a crime against society to.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Me ketchup on salmon is five, EXACTLY i think because he's.
- 38:42Speaker 6: Country he's a country, boy so he's, like, man you
- 38:44Speaker 6: can't do. That that's like it's like a crime against the.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Family SO i was, like all, right, man, nah all.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Right fifth and final question for Taj. Brooks i've read
- 38:53Speaker 2: that you loved riding horses as a.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Kid did you have? ONE i did.
- 38:57Speaker 6: Not my cousin. Did though my cousin had six. HORSES
- 39:00Speaker 6: i don't remember their, names but, uh it was just
- 39:03Speaker 6: SOMETHING i used to do just for. FUN i still
- 39:05Speaker 6: sometimes WHEN i get some free, TIME i probably still
- 39:07Speaker 6: go row, horses you, know go to Char rosy day like,
- 39:09Speaker 6: that but. Not my cousins really have most of the,
- 39:11Speaker 6: horses AND i just need to go with him just
- 39:13Speaker 6: to you, Know rob the horses take care of things like.
- 39:16Speaker 1: That all, Right you're off the hot. Seat appreciate your.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Time best of.
- 39:19Speaker 6: Luck, yes, sorry thank you so.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Much Chase, brown SOME, I Jp, ryan AND. Todj brooks
- 39:24Speaker 2: give The bengals three solid running backs going into training.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Camp Zach moss is still on the, roster but a
- 39:30Speaker 2: bit of a question mark after the neck injury that
- 39:33Speaker 2: he suffered last. Year moss attended the mandatory mini camp
- 39:37Speaker 2: but was not in uniform and only did some conditioning.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Drills on the.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Side, now let's go from five questions to five observations
- 39:46Speaker 2: after watching The bengals practice this week and talking to
- 39:49Speaker 2: players and. Coaches topic number one is trench. Warfare in
- 39:54Speaker 2: the next to last, practice there was a drill where
- 39:57Speaker 2: five offensive linemen had to pass protect against five pass,
- 40:02Speaker 2: rushers and it was unusually intense and physical for this
- 40:06Speaker 2: time of the off. Season there's only so much contact
- 40:09Speaker 2: allowed in mini camps under The Collective Bargaining, agreement AND
- 40:12Speaker 2: i asked offensive Coordinator Dan. Pitcher if The bengals are
- 40:16Speaker 2: doing as much as, Permitted.
- 40:20Speaker 8: We're going to follow all the guidelines that dictate how
- 40:23Speaker 8: we can practice this time of. Year but you, know
- 40:26Speaker 8: we want to challenge our. Guys we've we've talked at
- 40:28Speaker 8: length with with our with our, line specifically in the whole,
- 40:32Speaker 8: unit about just how critical that element.
- 40:37Speaker 4: Is to our.
- 40:37Speaker 8: Success and put a clip up there, today you, know
- 40:41Speaker 8: vers a five man rush and it stresses the line out,
- 40:44Speaker 8: right there's five one on one matchups across the, board
- 40:46Speaker 8: but the BUT i made the points to, them there's
- 40:48Speaker 8: five one on one matchups on the outside that are
- 40:50Speaker 8: all in our. Favor so when you guys can step
- 40:52Speaker 8: up and execute in those, spots that's that's a game
- 40:55Speaker 8: change in. Play AND i think they're understanding that we're
- 40:58Speaker 8: going to keep putting that in difficult, situations, Right pascal's
- 41:02Speaker 8: that's an offensive, drill, right the defense is in a
- 41:04Speaker 8: tough situation, there the drill you're talking. About we got
- 41:07Speaker 8: to put our guys in tough spots and see how they,
- 41:09Speaker 8: respond AND i think they've done a good.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Job That Topic number two also involves the. Trenches more,
- 41:14Speaker 2: specifically the two new line Coaches Scott peters And Jerry.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Montgomery they are both extremely hands on coaches who physically
- 41:24Speaker 2: demonstrate the exact techniques they're looking for and are young
- 41:27Speaker 2: enough and strong enough to mix it up with the.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Players here's Center Ted karras on their, impact including a
- 41:34Speaker 2: detailed look At Scott.
- 41:35Speaker 9: PETERS i Think scott And jerry have really added a
- 41:41Speaker 9: great new dimension to our trench. PLAY i, think you,
- 41:45Speaker 9: know we got a lot of great, players and you,
- 41:48Speaker 9: know it just felt you, know those are you, know
- 41:50Speaker 9: we went out there for these last nine to ten
- 41:52Speaker 9: practices and really got after, him you, know more so
- 41:55Speaker 9: than we have in the.
- 41:56Speaker 2: Past it seemed really darius With scott leaders during these.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Duels has it been and like a refresh for You?
- 42:03Speaker 9: YEAH i mean so it's a very unique you, know
- 42:05Speaker 9: being year ten and going over techniques That i've never heard,
- 42:10Speaker 9: of AND i think that's been you, know that's that's
- 42:12Speaker 9: one of the JOYS i take as a football. Player
- 42:14Speaker 9: i've had a lot OF o line coaches in my,
- 42:16Speaker 9: time and you, know to learn something That i've never
- 42:18Speaker 9: even heard, of has you, Know it's taken you, know
- 42:21Speaker 9: this eight weeks to kind of get comfortable with it
- 42:24Speaker 9: and now we can take it in.
- 42:24Speaker 5: The summer and train.
- 42:25Speaker 9: It BUT i think he's done a great. Job you,
- 42:27Speaker 9: know we're gonna have some some nuances that are a
- 42:29Speaker 9: little bit, different AND i think it's gonna you, know
- 42:32Speaker 9: what we talked about when he first got, HIRED i was,
- 42:34Speaker 9: like how can we increase our one on one win?
- 42:37Speaker 9: Percentage that's like all you, know that's like the main
- 42:40Speaker 9: goal is how can we put tools in our players'
- 42:42Speaker 9: hands that increase the chances of a one on one?
- 42:45Speaker 9: Victory because we AND i think, that you, know we've
- 42:48Speaker 9: kind of it's great to have a guy come in
- 42:50Speaker 9: that hasn't been here kind of look at it from
- 42:53Speaker 9: ten thousand feet and really be honest about you know
- 42:56Speaker 9: what we, are who we, are you know who we
- 42:59Speaker 9: are as an, offense and how we can be the
- 43:01Speaker 9: best unit for this.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Offense i've talked to nearly every offensive lineman during the
- 43:07Speaker 2: off season, program and all of them are effusive in
- 43:10Speaker 2: their praise For Scott. Peters topic number three is new
- 43:14Speaker 2: defensive Coordinator Al. Golden When i've asked players About, al
- 43:18Speaker 2: the first word that usually comes up is detailed and
- 43:22Speaker 2: the final practice of mini camp provided a good. Example last,
- 43:26Speaker 2: Year Al's Notre dame unit tied for the national leite
- 43:29Speaker 2: and defensive touchdowns with, six including five on pick. Six's On,
- 43:34Speaker 2: thursday The bengals worked on the finer points of scoring
- 43:39Speaker 2: after an, interception such as where you should, run how
- 43:42Speaker 2: to block without getting, penalized and the importance of not
- 43:46Speaker 2: drilling the quarterback since officials are hyper focused on not
- 43:50Speaker 2: allowing that to. Happen al basically went straight from Coaching
- 43:54Speaker 2: Notre dame's defense in The National championship game to trying
- 43:58Speaker 2: to build a championship level d defense In. Cincinnati if
- 44:01Speaker 2: anyone needs the upcoming break before training, camp it's the
- 44:05Speaker 2: team's new defensive.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Coordinator grateful to be.
- 44:09Speaker 10: Here love love being a part of The bengals, organization
- 44:14Speaker 10: love coming to work every. Day that the coaching staff
- 44:16Speaker 10: that we have is. Awesome they exceed expectations every. Day
- 44:20Speaker 10: and it's been. Hard it's been really hard going from you,
- 44:23Speaker 10: know you have to assess you know your current, roster
- 44:26Speaker 10: then transition to the, draft and then you, know get
- 44:29Speaker 10: on the. Field and there hasn't been any many many
- 44:31Speaker 10: days off for. Us you, know we were joking this,
- 44:34Speaker 10: MORNING i went from the longest season in the history
- 44:36Speaker 10: of college football to straight. Work SO i am ready
- 44:39Speaker 10: for a, break And i'm not afraid to Say i'm
- 44:42Speaker 10: going to take.
- 44:42Speaker 2: It al's ability to develop young players is going to
- 44:46Speaker 2: be one of the biggest keys to the team's success
- 44:49Speaker 2: this year and. Beyond one of The bengals, Scouts Andrew,
- 44:52Speaker 2: johnson was recently a guest on this, podcast and if
- 44:55Speaker 2: you didn't listen to that, Episode andrews said the, FOLLOWING
- 44:59Speaker 2: i think That Al golden is going to be THE
- 45:01Speaker 2: x factor IN us winning The Super. Bowl i'm the
- 45:06Speaker 2: topic number. Four Cam, sample The bengals defensive, lineman missed
- 45:10Speaker 2: all of last year with a torn achilles and recently
- 45:13Speaker 2: got the green light to return to. Practice D line
- 45:17Speaker 2: drills don't strike me as the most fun thing in the,
- 45:19Speaker 2: world but it's been obvious Watching cam that he's having a.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Ball after one drill where he sprinted into position in past,
- 45:26Speaker 2: coverage he even broke into a little. Dance how does
- 45:31Speaker 2: it feel emotionally to be back out there doing your?
- 45:34Speaker 4: Thing? Oh, great.
- 45:36Speaker 11: MAN i really talked about it all day because it
- 45:38Speaker 11: was a hell of a, process you, know you, know
- 45:40Speaker 11: hurt And cam going into your fourth. Year the you,
- 45:42Speaker 11: know the expectations defense had for, you and not being
- 45:45Speaker 11: able to be here for the.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Guys you know that hurt a.
- 45:46Speaker 11: Lot but it's so easy to Take soff for, granted
- 45:49Speaker 11: not SAYING i did, before but just me and back
- 45:51Speaker 11: out there Like i'm you, Know i'm excited to go to,
- 45:53Speaker 11: practice not THAT i wasn't, before but when the game's
- 45:55Speaker 11: taking away from, you you just get a whole different,
- 45:56Speaker 11: respective more football than the. Drills SO i just had
- 45:59Speaker 11: a real Possible i'm JUST i don't have to be
- 46:00Speaker 11: out there. Now so that's what all you saw right
- 46:01Speaker 11: there with that for.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Sure gam was a rookie when The bengals went to
- 46:05Speaker 2: The Super bowl in twenty twenty, one and he Sacked
- 46:08Speaker 2: Patrick mahomes in THE Afc Championship game the following. Year
- 46:12Speaker 2: my fifth and final topic Is Trey. Hendrickson AS i
- 46:16Speaker 2: said in my conversation With Dave, LAPHAM i still believe
- 46:19Speaker 2: that we will See trey in A bengals uniform this.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Year that's obviously what the, coaches players in front office.
- 46:27Speaker 2: Want here's his, Friend Joseph.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Osai i'm not losing hope at. ALL i, KNOW i
- 46:32Speaker 1: know it's.
- 46:33Speaker 7: TOUGH i know everybody has to do what's best for.
- 46:35Speaker 7: THEM i know he has to do us best for
- 46:36Speaker 7: him and his. Family SO i always say, This i've
- 46:38Speaker 7: told this to him multiple. Times i'll be selfish and
- 46:40Speaker 7: SAY i need you. Back i'll be selfish and SAY
- 46:43Speaker 7: i want you. Back But god will And god can
- 46:48Speaker 7: do all. Things we'll, see we'll, see we'll see by
- 46:51Speaker 7: the team the defense needs. Him you know you feel
- 46:55Speaker 7: his presence when he's out.
- 46:56Speaker 5: There for.
- 46:56Speaker 7: Sure you can ask any old lineman in the league
- 46:59Speaker 7: you feel his. Presence was training When chray lies up
- 47:01Speaker 7: in front of you with his slightly tinted face mask
- 47:04Speaker 7: and there's no gloves and his long sleeve in tights
- 47:07Speaker 7: and his black shoes strapped all the way that you
- 47:11Speaker 7: know you got war the whole, game the whole.
- 47:14Speaker 4: Game you know you have.
- 47:15Speaker 1: War there's no. Playoffs SO i really hope you can
- 47:19Speaker 1: get him.
- 47:19Speaker 2: Back what a great description of big, Play. Tray and,
- 47:24Speaker 2: yes we all hope That tray and The bengals work
- 47:27Speaker 2: things out to bring him. Back that's going to do
