- 0:10Join us for the reload. Jim Mora with us. I want to point
- 0:14out a couple other guys who had pretty good days on Saturday. Price Yates
- 0:18number ninety. I mean, if you're a football fan, you come to
- 0:21the stadium this weekend, what's that guy? Three and a half tackles for
- 0:26losses? Coach, I get excited when defensive guys do stuff like that.
- 0:30I think that I'm so glad you brought his name up, Mike, because
- 0:34he he's been special and it's his work ethic and his commitment that makes him
- 0:40special and helps him get in position to make those plays. There's one play
- 0:44he made that It was actually the second to last defensive play of the game,
- 0:49and we had him pinned down there and it was second down play and
- 0:53they threw the ball and he came flying out of the stack and made a
- 0:57first down saving tackle. Where he make that tackle, they get the first
- 1:02down, the game's over in our offense doesn't even get the ball back,
- 1:04you know, unfortunately we got the ball back to their offense. Was pretty
- 1:07damn good field position. I gotta give Price a lot of credit for that.
- 1:11But nobody. Nobody works harder, nobody plays harder, nobody takes better
- 1:15care of their body. A lot of guys do it really, really well.
- 1:19Just nobody does it better. And you know, if you're looking for
- 1:23an example of hard work paying off and great attitude paying off and relentless effort
- 1:26paying off and just watching number ninety because it's paying off for the guy.
- 1:30Yeah, attitude is a word that coaches and broadcasters use a lot. I
- 1:36mean this club. I talked to a couple of guys yesterday and we're gonna
- 1:38we're gonna have their their conversations. Johnnie Stafford a little bit later on,
- 1:44still confident, still positive, coming in there. Forget what the record is.
- 1:49You got another game this weekend. Let's see what happens. You know,
- 1:52third down. I thought the defense did a nice job the other day.
- 1:56Three thirteen FIU was and it did that. What Malik Dixon Williams available?
- 2:01What's his status? Because we all love him as a player. He's
- 2:05been or he's injured. We want to see him back where do you think
- 2:07he's at in terms of getting back on the field. Well, he played
- 2:12last week on special teams a little bit, which was a good first step,
- 2:15you know, being able to see him run down on kickoffs. I
- 2:20don't think it's you know, I don't think he made any tackles or anything
- 2:22like that, but at least he got some action, which I think really
- 2:25helped his confidence with his knee, and we needed to see that. And
- 2:30you know, he's ready to go now. He practiced and he's ready to
- 2:34go. And you know, I think Stan Cross has done a really good
- 2:37job in that spot. But you know, Malik's he's pretty damn good players
- 2:44we know, you know, makes plays on the ball, gets people lined
- 2:46up. Really good compliment to Durante back there. So it'll be good to
- 2:50have him back on the field. Well, a lot of close games,
- 2:53not only in college obviously in the pros. Ten of the sixteen in the
- 2:57NFL schedule one score games last week and the Giants were down big I gotta
- 3:02bring this up because you were down Big two and Brian Dable, their head
- 3:07coach, got in the blocker room and he went off. I'm sure he
- 3:09said some things, but I love what he said coming out of the locker
- 3:14room. He said, Okay, what are you guys gonna do about it?
- 3:15I'm curious what you said at halftime, because you went in down and
- 3:20things look bleak, but you turned it around and played a solid second half
- 3:24and probably could have tied the ball game up if not propenaltly in that last
- 3:29sequence. Well, what I said, Mike would be x rated, So
- 3:36we can't go there. But I figured, you know, listen, I
- 3:39love football, I love competing. I love the guys on this team.
- 3:45I want success for them so badly. I didn't feel like we were playing
- 3:50with enough emotion, enough passion, enough energy, enough effort, and we
- 3:53weren't executing at the level that we're capable of. And so I feel like
- 3:58they at times they need to be told the truth. You know, you
- 4:02don't go in there and you don't you don't baby him, you don't bsm.
- 4:08You gotta you gotta let them know what's real and and and what has
- 4:12to happen. And you know, here's a great thing. So I I,
- 4:15uh, you know, I do my spiel with him, and I
- 4:17was pretty hot coming off the field. I was very disappointed, not not
- 4:21in the players in US. You know, in US, in US,
- 4:25it's always an US thing. It's never them and us and them thing.
- 4:29It's always all of us. And uh so I did my thing, and
- 4:32then when I came back out to address and again before we go out on
- 4:36the field, Christian Haynes had the whole team up already. So when when
- 4:43it's a player driven, it's so much more. It's so much stronger than
- 4:47coach driven. You know, I'm not a big player only meeting guy.
- 4:54I think that those are very negative. But in a moment like that,
- 4:56and it wasn't a player meeting, but when you're when your leaders are bringing
- 5:00up and they're talking about the expectations, what needs to happen, and they're
- 5:02showing passion, it's just so much more impactful than when it comes from a
- 5:08coach. So that's another reason I have hope is because we have guys like
- 5:12Christian, and we have guys like Jackson, we have guys like Durant,
- 5:15and we have guys like you know, I mean, the list goes on
- 5:16and on and on. We just have to you know, we have to
- 5:18execute better and we have to play with better effort. And if we do
- 5:21that, we'll give ourselves a chance and if we don't, then it'll be
- 5:25tough. Yeah, second half I thought was the best. The team is
- 5:30played on a lot of levels. And from your perspective on the sideline,
- 5:33what did it look like? Did it look like the Yukon that you're used
- 5:36to seeing what you saw last year and what you saw for parts of this
- 5:41year. Did it give you an optimistic feel for what this team can do?
- 5:45Yeah? I did. And there's more our sideline energy too, you
- 5:47know, our guys, like guys like Kyle Jergens, you hadn't played backup
- 5:51offensive lineman was getting everyone hype, and you are players on the field feed
- 5:56off the energy and the stands and they feed off the energy in the sideline.
- 5:58But yeah, I did. I saw things that I liked, you
- 6:00know. Unfortunately, you know it's hidden by the result that it was twenty
- 6:06four to seventeen. You know, we couldn't we we had a chance there
- 6:11at the end to at least tie it, you know, or we went
- 6:14out, we got to stop and we had good field position, we executed.
- 6:16We got ourselves down there where we had a chance and Justin makes an
- 6:20amazing catch, you know, off a great throw by Ta Kwan and unfortunately
- 6:26they called that. Yeah, I you know, kind of a questionable hold
- 6:30on our right tackle and so you know, we didn't get it done.
- 6:35But there was a lot of a lot of positives that you can clean from
- 6:39that second half if you can find a way to look past the final result.
- 6:44Yeah, I got you all right, Quick time out back to wrap
- 6:46it up with the Jim Moore in a moment. This is the Yukon Football
- 6:49Coaches Show on Liarfield
