- 0:29Adam: Welcome to episode 122 of I Hate Talking.
- 0:34Steph: Hi, everyone.
- 0:35Adam: So I suppose we'll jump right into our word or phrase of the episode.
- 0:39Steph: Okay.
- 0:40Adam: And that is the word that we came across last episode when we were looking at various etymology theories of the phrase on end.
- 0:50Adam: And that is a word that a particular person that was posting on the etymology posting boards used.
- 0:58Adam: And that word is solecism.
- 1:01Steph: Yeah.
- 1:01Steph: I'm excited to learn about it because, like you, we'd never heard it before.
- 1:06Steph: And it sounds to me very negative.
- 1:09Steph: Solecism.
- 1:11Steph: And I know you said it's spelt like soul, like the sole of your feet.
- 1:15Steph: But it just sounds to me like soulless.
- 1:19Steph: Like you don't have a soul.
- 1:22Adam: Yep.
- 1:23Adam: Well, I suppose we'll find out if it has anything to do with that.
- 1:26Adam: I don't think it does.
- 1:27Adam: I think it has something to do with perhaps like a faux pas or something, is what I would guess.
- 1:33Steph: Okay.
- 1:34Adam: Which that might be a good one for next time.
- 1:35Adam: Maybe we'll do a double header.
- 1:36Adam: Faux pas.
- 1:37Steph: There you go.
- 1:38Adam: That sounds like another French word.
- 1:40Adam: We keep coming across these French words.
- 1:43Steph: We're really into the French right now, huh?
- 1:45Adam: No, I think it's just that the French words, perhaps, at least in my experience, are less well defined because they don't follow normal Greek and Latin roots.
- 1:56Adam: So for those of you that are listening and not watching, which is all of you because we are not a video podcast.
- 2:07Steph: No.
- 2:07Adam: We now have a whiteboard in our recording studio so that we can write down ideas or things that we have on the docket to discuss in future episodes.
- 2:18Adam: And that is not at all how you spell Pop.
- 2:21Adam: What did you write?
- 2:23Adam: P-O-P-A?
- 2:25Steph: Yes.
- 2:27Adam: Isn't it F-A-U-X space P-A-S or something like that?
- 2:32Steph: Probably, but I don't even know why I spelt it with a P, Popaw.
- 2:38Steph: I spelt it Popaw.
- 2:41Adam: Yeah, I'm not sure.
- 2:44Steph: I knew it was wrong, but I was just going for it.
- 2:47Steph: Oh no.
- 2:48Steph: Okay.
- 2:49Adam: Well, that's not how you spell Solecism either, because that's on the whiteboard as well.
- 2:52Adam: So for our listeners, the spelling of Solicism is S-O-L-E, that part you got, right?
- 2:58Adam: But then it's C-I-S-M.
- 3:01Steph: I was close.
- 3:02Steph: But I will be the very first person to tell you I am a horrible speller.
- 3:08Steph: And pretty much anyone who reads whatever I write can confirm.
- 3:14Adam: That's true.
- 3:15Steph: So I try, but thank God for spell check.
- 3:20Adam: So according to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English language, 5th edition, there are nine definitions for solicism.
- 3:29Adam: So there's quite a few.
- 3:32Adam: I guess we'll go through all of them.
- 3:34Steph: Holy cow, yeah.
- 3:35Adam: So number one is a non-standard usage or grammatical construction.
- 3:42Steph: Wait, say that again?
- 3:43Adam: A non-standard usage for grammatical construction.
- 3:48Steph: Okay.
- 3:49Adam: Number two, a violation of etiquette.
- 3:53Steph: Okay.
- 3:53Adam: Three, an impropriety, mistake or incongruity.
- 4:00Steph: I mean that kind of goes with the other two, anyways, right?
- 4:03Steph: Like making a mistake or Yes.
- 4:06Steph: Yes.
- 4:06Steph: Okay.
- 4:07Adam: Number four, an impropriety or incongruity of language in the combination of words or parts of a sentence, especially deviation from the idiom of a language or from the rules of syntax.
- 4:19Steph: Okay.
- 4:21Adam: Number five, any inconsistency, unfitness, absurdity, or impropriety as in deeds or manners.
- 4:29Steph: Okay.
- 4:29Steph: I mean it's still with etiquette and all that, right?
- 4:32Steph: I feel like all of these are just expanding a little bit further on saying this is a deviant from social norms or deviant from the expected.
- 4:41Adam: Yeah, they're all very similar definitions here, it seems.
- 4:44Adam: Number six, erroneous or improper usage.
- 4:48Adam: Number seven, error in the use of language.
- 4:52Adam: Number eight, in written language, the intentional use of misspelling and or incorrect grammar to affect the vernacular of a particular dialect.
- 5:02Steph: Okay.
- 5:04Adam: And then number nine, a faux pas or breach of etiquette.
- 5:08Steph: Oh, there you go.
- 5:09Adam: A transgression against the norms of expected behavior.
- 5:13Steph: So was my misspelling a faux pasism?
- 5:19Adam: If it wasn't intentional and you were like making fun of people that can't spell or something.
- 5:24Steph: No.
- 5:24Steph: Unless, I mean, I made fun of me afterwards.
- 5:28Steph: But I knew I wasn't spelling it correctly and just kind of went with it anyways.
- 5:34Adam: That's true.
- 5:34Adam: So right here it says Faux pas is spelled F-A-U-X-P-A-S.
- 5:40Adam: Yeah.
- 5:40Adam: So there you go.
- 5:42Adam: Faux pas.
- 5:42Adam: So according to some other websites here, Merion Webster's, Wikipedia, it seems that it typically does refer to not necessarily behavior, but more language, especially written language or spoken language when it comes to grammatical errors.
- 6:03Adam: So some of the examples here are like mixing the tenses or whether it is a singular verb or a plural verb.
- 6:16Adam: So like if you say they was podcasting, that would be a solecism.
- 6:23Steph: Okay.
- 6:24Adam: So that would be an example where there's a linguistic exception.
- 6:31Steph: Okay.
- 6:32Adam: But moving on to the etymology of solecism, it comes from a Greek word Solo.
- 6:40Adam: Probably not pronouncing that exactly correctly, but something like that.
- 6:47Adam: And it was initially used by the Greeks to describe grammatical mistakes in the dialect of the inhabitants of Sole Sicilia.
- 6:57Adam: Or Silicia, I guess.
- 7:01Adam: Sole Silicacia.
- 7:05Steph: I don't feel like we get a lot of Greek etymology in the words we've chosen.
- 7:10Steph: Maybe even in the history of the podcast.
- 7:13Steph: But it does sort of make sense that for the Greeks that they would value correct language.
- 7:21Adam: Yes.
- 7:22Adam: So they saw the people of Solai as speaking a corrupted form of Greek.
- 7:30Adam: So essentially they considered their Attic dialect to be the pure form of Greek.
- 7:40Adam: And the Greeks that lived in Athens considered the dialect of the inhabitants of Sola Silicia to be a corrupted form.
- 7:52Steph: Okay.
- 7:52Adam: And that is why they called those particular things that Greek word that we now have Solecism from.
- 8:00Steph: Is that it's it doesn't sound kind to them.
- 8:05Steph: It sounds more like a slur or a culturally negative connotation.
- 8:11Adam: Yes, I would say so.
- 8:12Adam: Some of the etymology description goes on that that is where we get like barbarian as well, though, because that would be calling somebody from wherever the barbarian lands are.
- 8:27Adam: That they don't fit the Greek culture and all the things that they held as true and right and correct.
- 8:34Steph: I didn't know that.
- 8:35Steph: That's sad.
- 8:36Steph: That's mean too.
- 8:39Adam: I suppose so.
- 8:40Adam: The Greeks thought they had it all together.
- 8:43Steph: Really?
- 8:43Steph: I mean they did pretty well, you know, like back in ancient times, it's pretty amazing everything they did or all the knowledge they taught.
- 8:55Adam: That's true.
- 8:56Adam: That is true.
- 8:58Adam: So now if somebody makes a grammatical error or a impropriety in the parts of speech, either written or spoken, you now can refer to that as a solecism.
- 9:12Adam: Or maybe not, because you don't want to be politically incorrect.
- 9:16Steph: Right.
- 9:19Adam: So that is our word or phrase of the episode, and I suppose perhaps we will get to po-paw next time.
- 9:27Steph: Did you see where I got it from though?
- 9:28Steph: Faux paw, po-paw?
- 9:30Adam: No, I don't.
- 9:31Steph: They sound very similar in my head.
- 9:33Adam: I'm not seeing the connection.
- 9:34Adam: Paupa is not a word, though.
- 9:36Steph: Yeah, but faux pas and faux-pa sound alike.
- 9:40Adam: I suppose so.
- 9:41Steph: Same quick, they can't even tell a difference.
- 9:44Adam: Yeah, but I would just like infer that somebody had conducted a solecism if they said pop, and I would just think that they meant faux pas, because pop is not a thing.
- 9:54Steph: I'm sorry I made uh fo in solecism.
- 10:00Adam: I suppose so.
- 10:01Steph: I don't know.
- 10:03Adam: So on to our topic of this episode.
- 10:07Adam: We've been doing, I guess, a bit of a mini-series on the Toy Story universe and have covered Toy Story 1, 2, 3, and 4.
- 10:17Adam: And now we have since watched Toy Story 5 because it became available to rent at home, so we did not have to venture out into a movie theater to see this particular movie, but we have watched Toy Story 5 now.
- 10:31Steph: Mm-hmm.
- 10:33Adam: So, initial thoughts on Toy Story 5.
- 10:36Steph: I have very mixed feelings about it.
- 10:39Steph: I really like it and I really dislike it.
- 10:42Steph: So I can go into that later, but tell me, what are your initial thoughts?
- 10:47Adam: I did not I did not like it.
- 10:49Adam: So I think I would rank it actually as like the worst one.
- 10:54Steph: Yeah, I think so.
- 10:56Steph: I don't know.
- 10:56Steph: It's I really torn.
- 10:58Steph: I liked it and really didn't like it at the same time.
- 11:03Adam: Yep.
- 11:04Adam: I don't know.
- 11:04Adam: I had trouble paying attention to it.
- 11:07Adam: It did not hold my attention very well.
- 11:09Steph: You fell asleep.
- 11:10Adam: I did.
- 11:11Adam: Now this was the second movie of the day.
- 11:13Adam: So we did watch a movie previous set.
- 11:17Steph: Yeah, that day we lucked out.
- 11:19Steph: Adam didn't have to work, and in the summer, you know, usually movie theaters will have like a dollar th movie.
- 11:26Steph: So we went and did that during the afternoon.
- 11:29Steph: And then came home and after dinner rented Toy Story 5.
- 11:35Adam: That's true.
- 11:36Adam: So I would say the movie that we saw at the movie theater was much better.
- 11:41Steph: That was Muffets Treasure Island.
- 11:43Steph: The kids liked it a lot more than I expected.
- 11:46Adam: I was surprised as well.
- 11:48Steph: But I think they liked the popcorn because we go to the dollar theater occasionally, me and the kids during the summer, to get out, save air conditioning and such.
- 11:58Steph: But I never buy them food because it's so expensive.
- 12:02Steph: So they were so happy.
- 12:03Steph: Their face was lit up with excitement when they saw you breed in popcorn from the theater.
- 12:08Steph: That was very generous of you.
- 12:11Adam: That's true.
- 12:11Adam: So yeah, they enjoyed the popcorn and they watched the movie.
- 12:15Steph: The popcorn costs more than all our tickets.
- 12:16Steph: That's true.
- 12:17Steph: That is true.
- 12:19Adam: It did.
- 12:19Adam: So yeah.
- 12:22Adam: We're not here to talk about treasure island.
- 12:25Adam: Maybe next time.
- 12:27Adam: But Toy Story 5.
- 12:29Adam: So my point being that it did not hold my attention very well.
- 12:33Adam: It also felt like it was subject to some of the same pitfalls that I described for Toy Story 4, where it just seemed to constantly have like almost an ending.
- 12:46Adam: Like they're really close to resolving all the conflicts in the story.
- 12:51Adam: And then like something else happens, and then they have to deal with that.
- 12:54Adam: And then they get really close to resolving all the things, and then something else happens.
- 12:58Adam: And then it just seemed to go back and forth so many times that I found that a bit trying.
- 13:04Steph: The two things I disliked most about it, and again, these are spoilers if you haven't watched it, but most of the characters aren't in it.
- 13:14Steph: It's more about the people and the human interactions than the characters and a lot of it.
- 13:26Adam: Yeah, it's probably the main kid, Bonnie, and then the other new older kid girl that get a lot of the screen time.
- 13:36Steph: Yeah, and even their parents get a lot more than in time past.
- 13:41Steph: So yeah, the humans played a big role.
- 13:44Steph: The secondary toys like ham and the potato heads do like cameos basically, but aren't really in it at all.
- 13:53Steph: Mm-hmm.
- 13:54Steph: That is true.
- 13:55Steph: So I didn't like that.
- 13:56Steph: And I also didn't like that.
- 13:58Steph: I felt like they were preaching to us.
- 14:00Steph: They had a very clear, in my opinion, a very clear lesson.
- 14:07Steph: Where I feel like the others didn't really have lessons necessarily.
- 14:10Steph: But this was tech is bad.
- 14:13Steph: Toys are good.
- 14:15Adam: Hmm.
- 14:16Adam: I did read some things after the fact that most people would agree that like the first half of the movie is exactly that.
- 14:24Adam: And that it comes to sort of like a compromise that we're like they're using the tech to interact with the toys and like using it to capture videos and photos and things of the actual playing time with the toys.
- 14:39Steph: Yeah, they at the end they kind of come to a understanding and live peacefully together.
- 14:45Steph: I still think the overriding role, like there was a lesson that they wanted to teach, which I liked.
- 14:50Steph: Oh, and on that note, even pretty early on in the movie, one of our kids was like, remember when he was like, Mom, this is just a movie.
- 15:02Steph: It's not real.
- 15:03Steph: They don't really mean this about tech.
- 15:05Steph: Because I think he was so worried that I was gonna watch it and then be like, throw away the tablets, turn off the TV, we're done.
- 15:12Steph: Right?
- 15:13Adam: Yeah, that's true.
- 15:14Adam: And then I had seen bits and pieces of previews, and a lot of the previews and sort of like the teasers, I think had a lot more of the whole bunch of buzzes that were like gonna be part of the movie, and then they were like like everything in the teaser was like the exact same.
- 15:34Adam: That was it.
- 15:35Adam: So like I was very, very, very disappointed that the group of buzzes did not have more of a part in the movie because I felt like that could have been something that was would have been humorous or something.
- 15:48Adam: I don't know.
- 15:49Steph: Yeah, I felt like it was just one of those things they had a purpose, like a usefulness in the plot.
- 15:56Steph: But essentially the the rest of the movie it was just pointless.
- 16:00Steph: Like I didn't appreciate them at all.
- 16:02Steph: Like you said, they could have been utilized humorously.
- 16:06Steph: Yep.
- 16:08Adam: So yeah.
- 16:09Adam: I d I mean it I don't even really have a strong remembrance of like a core plot line, other than like you said, it was sort of preachy, like tech is bad, and we're just gonna deal with this thing and have all these like oscillations between near success and failure and things that have to be dealt with until you get to the end and it sort of just concludes.
- 16:37Adam: So I did I did not like it at all.
- 16:41Steph: Yeah, I did relate to the parents though, Bonnie's parents, when they got her essentially the iPad, uh whatever they call it, leapfrog or leapfrog, lilypad, so that they don't know.
- 16:53Adam: Leapfrog's the actual thing, so they probably didn't want to get sued.
- 16:56Adam: So lily pad.
- 16:59Steph: I did relate to her parents though, because all our kids are amazing and such wonderful personalities, but one is eccentric and struggled in the past with making peers.
- 17:17Steph: And we've had similar conversations like that, like, oh, we don't really like this, but it's gonna help him blend in better.
- 17:27Steph: And that's what they did.
- 17:28Steph: She was struggling to make friends, so they were like, Well, we'll get her this lily pad so she can play the games with her peers.
- 17:35Steph: And we had a very similar conversation.
- 17:38Steph: I mean, it was a long time ago.
- 17:40Steph: But like, do we do this to help him blend in?
- 17:43Steph: We don't like it.
- 17:45Steph: So I did film for the parents because they had their standards, but then their heart was breaking for their daughter who was struggling with peer interactions.
- 17:56Adam: That's true.
- 17:57Adam: Which I guess it makes sense that like Toy Story 5 is now like a more quote unquote mature movie, right?
- 18:04Adam: Because now it's not like all the little kids that enjoyed Toy Story 1 and 2.
- 18:09Adam: Because we saw that development even with three and four, right?
- 18:12Adam: Now it's just like the next evolution where it's just like So I really am.
- 18:17Adam: It's just another Hollywood movie, and you are the parent.
- 18:19Adam: Yes, that is true.
- 18:21Steph: So I guess that's why I really relate to the parents now.
- 18:24Steph: Or before I related to the kids or whatnot.
- 18:28Adam: I suppose so.
- 18:29Steph: Wow.
- 18:30Adam: So I've already given away my ranking, but I would put this at the very bottom.
- 18:34Adam: Where would you rank it in the other Toy Story movies?
- 18:38Steph: I don't know.
- 18:39Steph: I honestly, some of it I did not hate.
- 18:42Steph: But overall, I left not being I left all the other movies enjoying it more than I expected.
- 18:51Steph: I left this movie more disappointed than expected.
- 18:55Steph: So for that, I think I'd put it at last.
- 18:59Adam: Yeah, I was disappointed, and I really didn't have all that high expectations for it.
- 19:03Adam: Like, I was just going into it as like, I mean, I guess Toy Story already has sort of like a certain bar that is set.
- 19:11Adam: So I expected it to be on par with the other Toy Story movies, but did not have high expectations for it beyond that, and was still disappointed.
- 19:21Adam: I found the shorts with Forky much more clever and hilarious.
- 19:27Adam: I didn't like that.
- 19:28Adam: Those were those were much more enjoyable.
- 19:29Steph: Okay, we can talk about those real quick if you want.
- 19:31Steph: Because I did not like those, but you and the kids did.
- 19:35Adam: Yeah, I thoroughly enjoyed those.
- 19:37Adam: There were, I think, ten of them.
- 19:39Adam: Okay.
- 19:40Adam: And they're anywhere from like I think it says eight minutes on like the runtime.
- 19:46Adam: But they really aren't eight minutes.
- 19:48Adam: I think they're close to like four minutes, and then there's like four minutes of credits with maybe a little bit of bonus scene.
- 19:53Steph: Okay.
- 19:54Adam: So you can probably watch all of them in less than an hour, I would say, all ten of them.
- 19:58Adam: And they were hilarious.
- 20:01Adam: Yeah.
- 20:01Adam: So the basis of these particular um episodes and the premise is that Forky asks a question.
- 20:10Adam: So, like some of the questions that he might ask are what is cheese?
- 20:15Adam: Or what is time?
- 20:17Adam: Or what is money?
- 20:20Adam: So, yeah.
- 20:22Steph: And then he gets a lesson in economics.
- 20:25Steph: Yeah, like the Oh, you did the economic question.
- 20:29Adam: You know the money one, yeah.
- 20:31Steph: Go ahead and tell it.
- 20:32Steph: You laugh so hard.
- 20:34Adam: Yeah, because it was like ham explaining some money concepts, and then I don't even know if the economic joke was in the money one.
- 20:44Adam: I think it was in the time one, where like the dinosaurs saying, if you're so smart, why don't you explain modern economics?
- 20:51Adam: And then Forky's like, Well, do you mean Keynesian economics with flow-down taxes and things like that?
- 20:56Adam: And it was just hilarious.
- 20:58Adam: So, yes.
- 20:59Adam: So they actually all sort of overlap and tie together, too, because like the cheese one comes up in one of the other ones and things like that.
- 21:08Steph: Okay.
- 21:08Adam: Yep.
- 21:09Steph: I didn't pay much attention to that.
- 21:11Adam: Einstein's theory of relativity comes up in there.
- 21:13Adam: The concept of gravity as uh not a force, but like a theoretical concept and things like that.
- 21:23Adam: Yeah.
- 21:23Adam: It was all very, very heady.
- 21:25Adam: I enjoyed it.
- 21:26Steph: So do you think that it's like educational?
- 21:28Steph: Like you'd play this for a quick educational lesson.
- 21:35Adam: Yeah, I mean, it's not gonna like teach you everything you need to know about everything.
- 21:39Adam: Except the one episode tried to, and that was actually sort of humorous as well.
- 21:43Adam: But yeah, there are I mean, I guess if you don't know these things, right?
- 21:48Adam: Like if you don't know what Keynesian economics is, it's probably gonna go over your head, but yeah.
- 21:54Steph: So they're that one they're writing for the adults and stuff.
- 21:56Steph: They're not writing.
- 21:57Adam: But the kids were laughing at it too, though.
- 21:59Adam: So see, that's where like Toy Story 5 missed the mark.
- 22:03Adam: Like it had this edict that it was pushing on us and using a non standard way of presenting the story because there's so many people involved instead of just toys, versus like for key asks a question, is the toys interacting and it has humor for both kids and the adults.
- 22:25Adam: Which I think is like right in line with how Toy Story One, two, uh To a lesser degree three and even lesser so four was already structured.
- 22:33Steph: So but in five, they did answer a question that we discussed, or at least brought it up.
- 22:39Steph: There's like a shipment container that gets shipwrecked or something, right?
- 22:45Steph: Right.
- 22:45Steph: And these buzzes are in packages scattered all on the island.
- 22:50Steph: They get out of their packages, and then they're like a little army searching for Star Command.
- 22:55Steph: And they are walking on the island, and then humans walk by and they all drop to the ground like a toy.
- 23:03Steph: And then they even acknowledge it.
- 23:05Steph: They stand up when the humans walk away and they're like, why do we do that when humans come by?
- 23:09Adam: Yep.
- 23:10Steph: So I think that was an interesting thing that we've kind of talked about before.
- 23:13Steph: If they know their toys or all that, showing that their natural instinct is to be a toy.
- 23:21Adam: That's true.
- 23:22Adam: So yeah, I mean, we had already established the theory that toys can be sapient because of the imbued magic of a child's imagination, and that only when they have some sort of revelation do they realize that they're a toy.
- 23:42Adam: But this does bring an interesting aspect of that is that they do freeze when humans are around due to some sort of instinct almost.
- 23:52Adam: So not only are the toys sapient, they also have instincts.
- 23:57Steph: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:58Steph: So I thought that was an interesting little thing that they brought up.
- 24:02Adam: That's true.
- 24:04Steph: And I did really like when Buzz and Jesse got married.
- 24:09Adam: Yeah, but that was the third time?
- 24:10Adam: I didn't get that joke.
- 24:12Steph: What do you mean?
- 24:13Adam: They said this is the third time this has happened.
- 24:16Steph: I They never fully got married before.
- 24:18Steph: She'd play it and then things would happen and get distracted.
- 24:22Adam: I see.
- 24:22Steph: They never gotta like kiss the bride and stuff.
- 24:24Adam: I see.
- 24:24Adam: So it was like the third attempt, not the third actual occurrence.
- 24:27Adam: Yeah.
- 24:28Adam: See, that was even like then a mistake in the movie.
- 24:31Adam: So now I'm even more frustrated and disappointed.
- 24:35Adam: So like we said at the start, there are spoilers in here.
- 24:41Adam: So hopefully we did not spoil the movie for you.
- 24:44Adam: Or if you have not seen it and we spoiled it for you, now you're really not gonna want to see it.
- 24:50Steph: It's not bad.
- 24:52Steph: It's just I'm glad we did not pay like 20 bucks a person to go watch that in the theaters.
- 24:59Steph: That's true.
- 25:00Steph: That would have been a bummer.
- 25:01Steph: So recently we talked about the TV show I Will Find You.
- 25:06Steph: And you talked about how much you dislike that.
- 25:09Steph: Which do you dislike better?
- 25:11Steph: Or is that is that a sillicism?
- 25:14Steph: You dislike better?
- 25:15Adam: Dislike better, yeah.
- 25:16Adam: That's a sillicism.
- 25:17Adam: Dislike more.
- 25:19Steph: Which one do you dislike more?
- 25:20Steph: The TV show I Will Find You or Toy Story 5?
- 25:26Adam: So I would sort of rank them based on if I would watch it again.
- 25:30Adam: And if they were the same length and I had to invest the same amount of time, I would say I would watch I Will Find You again.
- 25:40Adam: But because Toy Story 5 is whatever, 90 minutes versus I Will Find You is eight or nine episodes of like 40 minutes or something like that.
- 25:51Adam: It's gonna be a close one based on that ranking methodology.
- 25:56Adam: So overall, like just pure dislike.
- 26:02Adam: I'd say I disliked Toy Story 5 more.
- 26:05Steph: Okay.
- 26:06Steph: Wow.
- 26:07Adam: But if I was going to choose to watch one and I had to choose between those two things, I think I would actually watch Toy Story 5 because it's going to be shorter.
- 26:15Adam: It's only an hour and a half less of an investment of my time.
- 26:18Steph: Yes.
- 26:18Steph: Alright.
- 26:20Steph: Obviously, I love I Will Find You, so I'd watch that again.
- 26:25Adam: That's true.
- 26:26Adam: I would watch Silo again.
- 26:28Adam: I think we're getting close to the end of the season.
- 26:30Steph: That's crazy.
- 26:31Adam: Maybe we'll have to do Silo recap at some point.
- 26:34Adam: Or talk about buying and selling houses.
- 26:38Steph: Yeah.
- 26:38Steph: We've been busy doing that.
- 26:39Adam: We've been busy doing that.
- 26:41Adam: And then summer is coming to a close and now all the fall activities are beginning.
- 26:45Adam: So for your listeners out there, we do a lot more than just watch TV.
- 26:51Steph: We do.
- 26:51Steph: But it is one of our favorite things once the kids go to bed.
- 26:55Steph: Watch 20 minutes.
- 26:56Steph: We don't, I mean, we've talked about before, we never even watch a whole TV show ourselves.
- 27:02Adam: That's true.
- 27:02Adam: We made it through about 20 minutes of silo last night.
- 27:04Adam: So I guess it takes us a whole week to watch one episode.
- 27:07Adam: So that is another that's good that it only comes out once a week.
- 27:11Steph: I guess.
- 27:12Steph: But I don't like once I do finish it, I wanna start the new one.
- 27:17Steph: And so I don't like that.
- 27:20Adam: I see.
- 27:21Adam: Yes.
- 27:21Steph: But yeah, real life starting.
- 27:22Adam: And we do podcasting.
- 27:24Adam: That's another thing that we do.
- 27:25Steph: If you don't know already.
- 27:27Adam: If you were not aware.
- 27:28Steph: Yeah, real life starting though.
- 27:30Steph: We're gonna summer we had I mean we had to do a lot of stuff this summer.
- 27:34Steph: We also had a lot of chill days since we moved to the area pretty recently.
- 27:39Steph: You know, we didn't get too involved right away.
- 27:43Steph: Like we used to do martial arts and we used to do Club Scouts and we used to do all this stuff.
- 27:48Steph: So all of that stuff picks up next week and we're getting busy again.
- 27:55Adam: That's true.
- 27:56Adam: Seems like we're already somewhat busy, so now we're just getting busier.
- 28:00Steph: Yeah.
- 28:01Adam: But that is our take on Toy Story 5.
- 28:03Adam: You can always let us know in an email, text message, or comment your thoughts on it if you have seen it.
- 28:10Adam: And if you have not seen it, then perhaps you did not listen to this episode.
- 28:15Adam: Maybe you'll come back later and listen to it after you've watched it.
- 28:18Steph: Save your money and wait till it's streaming for free.
- 28:22Adam: That's true.
- 28:23Adam: It'd probably be a while for that, but it's worth the wait.
- 28:27Adam: Or not.
- 28:29Steph: I don't regret watching it.
- 28:32Adam: I sort of do.
- 28:32Adam: Like I'm like I feel like I had to because like one, we committed to watching it as part of this podcast mini-series.
- 28:40Adam: And then it's like sort of a cultural phenomenon of some sort.
- 28:44Adam: But I mean, it took us a while to watch Toy Story 4.
- 28:47Adam: That was years later.
- 28:48Steph: Yeah, I mean, we really only started this because our kids wanted to watch Toy Story 5.
- 28:53Steph: And then we started watching the whole series in preparation.
- 28:57Steph: If they were not the catalysts for doing it, yeah, I would not care.
- 29:03Adam: We would have never found out about Forky S's question.
- 29:06Adam: That's yeah, that's like one of the favorite.
- 29:09Adam: That's my favorite.
- 29:10Adam: Seriously, like I would actually maybe not above Toy Story 1.
- 29:14Adam: But it's up there.
- 29:16Steph: Okay, how do you rate it with um Mater's Tall Tales?
- 29:19Steph: Yes, Mater's Tall Tales.
- 29:21Adam: Yeah, Mater's Tall Tales.
- 29:22Adam: Nothing can beat that when it comes to the shorts.
- 29:24Adam: So good.
- 29:25Adam: But it's it's like a very close second.
- 29:27Steph: Okay.
- 29:28Steph: Yes.
- 29:28Steph: We maybe, maybe in the future we'll recap all the cars series.
- 29:34Steph: Now that we're done with Toy Story, our kids asked to rewatch cars.
- 29:37Steph: So it gotta be a fun one to do.
- 29:39Adam: That's true.
- 29:39Adam: Radiator Springs.
- 29:41Steph: That'll be more emotional for me because that was such a big part of our early parenthood life.
- 29:46Adam: Indeed.
- 29:47Adam: So if you did like this episode, be sure to like, share, subscribe.
- 29:52Adam: And I suppose we'll be back next time with a faux pas.
- 29:58Steph: Sounds good.
- 29:59Adam: So from your friends at I Hate Talking, until next time, remember it is only through talking that we begin the journey to understanding.
