• 1:56
Speaker 2: After several minutes of pursuit, mr cooper slammed into a buick, regal, being driven by Kristen Nicole Beige 25.
• 2:05
Speaker 2: Beige, beige Spell that B-E-G-U-E, beige, or how about Big A?
• 2:10
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's on her mother's side Nevertheless crashed into this Kristen girl in her car.
• 2:18
Speaker 2: Okay, but cops investigating the crash were surprised to learn that the lady, the Christian, was also in a stolen car.
• 2:27
Speaker 2: The Buick she was driving had been reported stolen three weeks earlier.
• 2:31
Speaker 2: The two thieves they were completely unrelated in their thefts and the organization of it, but they added that Miss Beej was found to be under the influence of intoxicants and they arrested her.
• 2:43
Speaker 2: Intoxicants, intoxicants, intoxicants, oh my goodness.
• 2:46
Speaker 2: The police said they've never heard this happening before, with two people crashing into each other like this.
• 2:51
Speaker 2: What are the odds?
• 2:52
Speaker 2: The suspect driving the stolen Land Cruiser, randy Lee Cooper, was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, attempted to elude police, assault three, reckless driving and other related crimes.
• 3:04
Speaker 2: Police assault free, reckless driving and other related crimes.
• 3:08
Speaker 2: Christian was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
• 3:12
Speaker 2: So the two thieves unrelated crashed into each other.
• 3:15
Speaker 1: I'm planning on having some intoxicants this afternoon.
• 3:18
Speaker 1: Are you really Okay?
• 3:19
  Speaker 2: And.
• 3:19
Speaker 2: I didn't have enough last night.
• 3:20
Speaker 2: No, I didn't, actually, I only had two After the way this morning started off.
• 3:23
Speaker 3: We may not wait until this afternoon.
• 3:30
  Speaker 1: We last night?
• 3:30
  Speaker 1: No, I didn't actually.
• 3:30
Speaker 1: After the way this morning started off, we may not wait until this afternoon.
• 3:32
Speaker 1: We may not finish the hour, especially after I hear your excuse, so I don't want to, that's not dark in the doorway just yet just think about that, uh-oh yeah darken the doorway, so there was a lady that was going to join us by the name of valerie frapp, who stood us up how do you pronounce this historic tapaco?
• 3:50
Speaker 3: I took it as tapoco.
• 3:51
Speaker 3: Tapaco is the way I said it.
• 3:54
Speaker 3: Well, it's tap tap tapoco is it tapoco, tapoco.
• 3:59
Speaker 1: It's in the great smoky mountains, is surrounded by some of the best roads of motoring in the US.
• 4:05
Speaker 3: Now several years ago, we talked to a gentleman that wrote a book and we talked to him and I got a copy of the book someplace that had like some of the 100 greatest drives in America.
• 4:21
Speaker 3: You know BCH1, even had the Twin Sisters here in Texas and the Dragon's Tale Tale of the Dragon was one of them.
• 4:26
Speaker 3: That was on it.
• 4:27
Speaker 3: Twisty Tale of the Dragon, twisty Tale of the Dragon.
• 4:30
  Speaker 3: Is that what?
• 4:30
  Speaker 1: it's called.
• 4:31
Speaker 3: That's what it says, right here Twisty Tale of the Dragon.
• 4:34
Speaker 1: Yep Ends in traveler's bliss.
• 4:36
Speaker 1: I love to have bliss when I travel, but the thing is, I dated her for many years.
• 4:43
  Speaker 1: Champagne, champagne, champagne.
• 4:49
Speaker 3: And I happen to know some guys that are out there this weekend loaded up motorcycles and stuff.
• 4:54
Speaker 3: They're out there on motorcycles.
• 4:56
Speaker 1: Oh wow, running it 318 curves and an 11-mile stretch with no intersecting roads or driveways, allowing for uninterrupted twists and turns Wow.
• 5:07
Speaker 2: So once you get on, you can't get off.
• 5:10
Speaker 1: Kind of sort of Nantahala National Forest in the Great Smoky Mountains.
• 5:15
Speaker 3: What Anakanapana, Anakanapana I think we got a couple of pictures of some of the cars and stuff out there, not actually on it, they're at the lodge.
• 5:26
Speaker 3: That's what I thought was real interesting is a lot of people.
• 5:28
Speaker 3: Yeah, just pick some of the cars.
• 5:32
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 5:34
  Speaker 1: There you go.
• 5:35
  Speaker 1: Historic Topaco.
• 5:39
Speaker 1: Is that Ferraris, ferraris.
• 5:42
  Speaker 1: What are those?
• 5:42
Speaker 1: Look at that, look up A Pagini.
• 5:45
  Speaker 3: Wow.
• 5:46
Speaker 3: I mean there's some stuff out there.
• 5:50
Speaker 1: Is the speed limit enforced on this thing?
• 5:52
Speaker 3: I think it probably is.
• 5:54
Speaker 3: That's one of the questions I had.
• 5:55
Speaker 1: Well, if I'm driving, that that wouldn't be a problem.
• 5:57
Speaker 1: But I will tell you what the Pagini or Paganini or whatever that car is.
• 6:01
Speaker 1: Paganini is the way it is those cars that are lined up there.
• 6:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, they're not made to go slow.
• 6:07
  Speaker 1: No.
• 6:08
Speaker 2: No, they're made to go fast yeah.
• 6:12
Speaker 1: At any rate, it's funny because now here we go again, great Smoky Mountains, and we've been enticed by the fine folks there in Tennessee Kentucky, by the fine folks there in Tennessee Kentucky, all up through that area of the United States that I have not actually been to Well, I was a kid riding in the backseat of mom and dad's Buick headed down to Alabama from Wisconsin.
• 6:37
Speaker 1: So it's been a long time.
• 6:38
Speaker 1: But we were talking to some folks there in Arkansas about the treasures of Arkansas and how beautiful it is and you know, I got this hankering.
• 6:48
Speaker 1: Uh-oh, I got a hankering to do a little road trip.
• 6:51
Speaker 1: I really thoroughly enjoyed the hot rod tour of Texas.
• 6:56
Speaker 1: That was lots of fun.
• 6:57
Speaker 1: But I'm ready to spread my wings, so to speak, uh-oh.
• 7:01
  Speaker 1: Hello, right here.
• 7:03
Speaker 3: That's one of the things that caught my attention on this.
• 7:05
Speaker 3: I mean, you know it's, it's in the mountains, there's the exteriors, show some, it's by a little river that goes through, it shows it with some snow and all that good stuff.
• 7:14
Speaker 3: But there's other things to do as far as hiking and stuff, so that if you went there it's hiking well, I can see you hiking.
• 7:22
Speaker 3: No, you can't, you will not see.
• 7:24
Speaker 1: See me hiking With your little.
• 7:25
Speaker 3: You'll see me sitting on the balcony watching people hike.
• 7:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, with your lederhosen.
• 7:30
Speaker 1: Yes, but you know it's and playing the accordion and the Ricola, you all been practicing that.
• 7:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we have.
• 7:40
  Speaker 3: So I thought that's what I thought.
• 7:41
Speaker 3: This would be a great place.
• 7:42
Speaker 3: I mean, you don't have to drive real fast on the road.
• 7:45
Speaker 3: But look, it's very scenic, it's in the mountains.
• 7:48
Speaker 3: It'd be a great place to go and spend a day or two and you could have lots of stuff to do there.
• 7:54
Speaker 1: But I would need to do some homework on this Find the back roads where these kind of places exist.
• 8:07
Speaker 1: I assume that this is kind of a back road off the beaten path a little bit and, you know, plan your trip Well.
• 8:11
Speaker 1: Today we're going to do 300 miles and we're going to go from here to here we're going to take our time.
• 8:14
Speaker 1: Stop along the way, stop at a Stucky's you know those kind of places.
• 8:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, do that, because there's all kinds of places up there, like in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, if you go up that far.
• 8:27
Speaker 1: Have you ever been to Pigeon Forge?
• 8:29
Speaker 1: Yes, did you go to Dollywood?
• 8:32
Speaker 3: No, I did not.
• 8:32
Speaker 3: Kids went, but I never did go to it.
• 8:35
Speaker 1: I cannot imagine you on a roller coaster.
• 8:40
Speaker 3: No, but it's not like Astroworld From what they tell me, what the kids said.
• 8:43
Speaker 3: I mean it's got a whole lot of craftsmen set up and stuff that you can see some of the stuff.
• 8:49
Speaker 2: Woodworking, candle making, horseshoeing.
• 8:53
Speaker 3: But it's a lot of stuff that they do, or a lot of historical stuff, wine making, smashing grapes.
• 8:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, I love Lucy A lot of Dagmars, and the moonshine still is a real big hit.
• 9:05
Speaker 3: Dagmars, yeah, and the Moonshine still is a real big hit.
• 9:07
  Speaker 3: I'll bet.
• 9:09
Speaker 1: Speaking of Moonshine, when we were on the Hot Rod Tour of Texas I don't know whether I mentioned this or not, but we stopped at the Spetzel Brewery, home of Shiner Beer in the city of Shiner.
• 9:22
Speaker 1: And we went not on the beer making tour, because we'd done that the year before, but this time we went on the liquor tour Distillery.
• 9:34
Speaker 2: Distillery Didn't even know they had one.
• 9:37
Speaker 1: I didn't either, but they do, it was new.
• 9:41
Speaker 1: They make the clear liquors, for instance, vodka, gin.
• 9:48
Speaker 1: They've even got one I think they call moonshine, but they're making that and it will be ready for consumption early next year because it has to sit and age and do all of its things Right.
• 10:00
Speaker 1: Sort of like what you're doing, yeah, sit and age, but I thought that that was interesting and the tour itself wasn't much of a thing.
• 10:05
Speaker 1: Sort of like what you're doing, yeah, sit and age, but I thought that that was interesting and the tour itself wasn't much of a tour.
• 10:09
Speaker 1: They put you into a room with a big glass wall on it and you see, you know, stills basically inside this room where they accentuate the moonshine and to make it really palpable, liquor, the moonshine.
• 10:21
Speaker 1: And to make it really palpable liquor.
• 10:24
Speaker 1: I'm not a twisted open the top of that thing in there, but I bought me a couple of bottles, just saying.
• 10:32
Speaker 3: And the top hasn't popped off on its own, or none of that stuff.
• 10:35
Speaker 2: I've got a friend of mine that makes moonshine Don't listen.
• 10:38
Speaker 2: But I've got a jar I got to give to Kylie's mom and it's moonshine.
• 10:45
Speaker 1: Somebody asked me the other day I've only had, I've only had a sip one time.
• 10:48
Speaker 1: It's like what I would imagine drinking lighter fluid would be.
• 10:53
  Speaker 2: Um there's.
• 10:53
Speaker 1: I've never drank lighter fluid, but this stuff is so potent.
• 10:57
Speaker 1: Yeah, you sip it, it's not and there's not to me.
• 11:02
Speaker 3: There's not the ones I've had.
• 11:03
Speaker 3: There's not much of a taste to it.
• 11:04
  Speaker 3: It's very harsh.
• 11:06
Speaker 1: No, you're correct, it is very harsh and it'll burn your tummy, don't you know Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug?
• 11:14
  Speaker 1: There's a song in there.
• 11:16
  Speaker 2: I think so.
• 11:17
Speaker 2: And then there's grappa.
• 11:18
Speaker 2: Oh, that's awful Grappa.
• 11:19
Speaker 2: Grappa, that's from your part of the country.
• 11:21
  Speaker 2: No, it's Italian.
• 11:22
Speaker 2: Laura brought some back when she moved back from Italy.
• 11:26
  Speaker 2: What is it?
• 11:26
Speaker 2: They take the remnants.
• 11:27
Speaker 2: After they smash all the stuff and get all the liquor and stuff out of the grapes and all that whatever's left, they make another version of a whiskey or a liqueur called grappa.
• 11:38
Speaker 2: And if you were to open it up in this room, you would probably leave the room, because just by opening up this thing, oh, it's bad, oh, and it tastes even worse that smells like bad feet.
• 11:47
Speaker 3: Oh, you smashed all the grapes.
• 11:48
Speaker 3: I thought it was jelly.
• 11:50
Speaker 2: Well they make something out of that.
• 11:51
Speaker 2: I don't know what they do, but it's called grappa and it's nasty it is.
• 11:56
Speaker 2: We gave it away.
• 11:58
Speaker 2: Well, smear it on a piece of bread.
• 11:59
  Speaker 2: I'll try it.
• 12:00
Speaker 2: Gave it away to somebody and I think they died, I don't know.
• 12:02
Speaker 2: We haven't heard from them since this was years ago.
• 12:06
Speaker 2: Well, at any rate For a couple of reasons, I guess let's see.
• 12:10
Speaker 1: Upon arrival at historic Topoco Lodge, which is part of the Enthusiast Hotel Collection, motorists experience a sanctuary like no other.
• 12:19
Speaker 1: Located on the banks of the rushing Chihuahua River and nestled amid the great Smoky Mountains near the Nahatalala National Forest, the property encompasses 120 beautiful acres.
• 12:33
Speaker 1: I can only imagine.
• 12:35
Speaker 1: That's big it is, and we saw the lodge.
• 12:36
Speaker 3: We were only imagine, that's big it is.
• 12:37
Speaker 2: And we saw the lodge, we were shown pictures, the lodge, the lodge, the motor lodge, the motor lodge.
• 12:43
Speaker 1: Speaking of the motor lodge, I stayed in a great place in Fredericksburg on the tour called the Stonewall Motor Lodge.
• 12:51
Speaker 1: I would encourage you if you were headed up to Fredericksburg.
• 12:54
Speaker 1: You know hoteling in Fredericksburg is rather expensive these days.
• 12:58
  Speaker 1: Well, it's touristy.
• 13:00
Speaker 1: So we stayed about 20 miles outside of town, 20 minutes to get there Not a bad deal at all.
• 13:07
Speaker 1: In Stonewall, texas, and right on 290 is the Stonewall Motor Lodge.
• 13:12
Speaker 1: Well, how did you find that, don?
• 13:14
  Speaker 3: What's your question?
• 13:15
Speaker 3: Well, how did you find that, Don?
• 13:16
Speaker 3: Yes, that's my question.
• 13:16
Speaker 1: So I get on Expedia and I look at hotels that are cheaper than those in Fredericksburg and they kind of have these rings away from Fredericksburg of places to stay.
• 13:26
Speaker 1: How cheap do you want to go?
• 13:27
Speaker 1: How far away do you want to stay?
• 13:29
Speaker 1: So I did a 20-mile outside of town kind of thing and it was much more in my price range.
• 13:36
Speaker 1: And I looked at the pictures that are online of the Stonewall Motor Lodge and I have to tell you that is the cutest place.
• 13:44
Speaker 1: Did any of you ever see the Netflix series Schitt's Creek?
• 13:48
Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 13:49
Speaker 1: You know the hotel or motel that they wound up staying in.
• 13:53
Speaker 1: This could be a carbon copy of that.
• 13:56
Speaker 1: It's that style of motor lodge from the mid-1960s.
• 14:02
Speaker 1: Okay, the door is right there.
• 14:04
Speaker 1: You pull up right next to the door and there it is, and they've got the little drive pass under right in front of the office.
• 14:11
  Speaker 1: That's all there.
• 14:14
Speaker 1: But they completely gutted the rooms, started all over with them but left the exterior of it just the way that it was.
• 14:20
Speaker 1: They painted it, fixed it up.
• 14:21
Speaker 1: It's really cute stonewall motor lodge go check it out online.
• 14:25
Speaker 1: It is the cutest place, clean rooms.
• 14:28
Speaker 1: It was just adorable and absolutely loved it.
• 14:30
Speaker 1: And um, you didn't have to go to the office.
• 14:33
Speaker 1: You keep that in mind?
• 14:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's, it's a great place anyway, I just thought I'd throw that out.
• 14:37
Speaker 2: There we were in a two-bedroom Airbnb we had cows walking through the yard.
• 14:41
Speaker 2: We had to wait for the cows to cross so we can get out of the driveway.
• 14:44
Speaker 1: This place that I mentioned to you, stonewall they've got where the canopy hangs out over in front of the office as you drive under.
• 14:55
Speaker 1: They made that, railed it in with railings up there, put chairs and tables up there.
• 15:01
Speaker 1: You can sit out there and drink your wine.
• 15:02
Speaker 1: Then they also have the wine barn.
• 15:04
Speaker 1: The wine barn is back behind the hotel now we did not go out there because it was rainy and it was.
• 15:09
Speaker 1: It was kind of an ugly day.
• 15:10
Speaker 1: But the wine barn.
• 15:11
Speaker 1: So you go out to the barn and they got chairs and all this other stuff sitting around.
• 15:15
Speaker 1: I guess you could do a campfire out there in front of the barn and it's really set it up.
• 15:20
Speaker 3: How big a place is that?
• 15:21
  Speaker 1: yeah, I don't know.
• 15:22
Speaker 1: I stayed in room eight called the press room, and they probably have about 25 rooms there so did a good size, so did the bates motel and it kind of looked like the bates motel kind of those places.
• 15:36
Speaker 1: And if you get hungry in the middle of the night, the Chevron gas station is within walking distance, right next door.
• 15:41
Speaker 2: Well, yeah, we were like down the road from you and a mile off the beaten path.
• 15:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, we were not very far from you.
• 15:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, so it was really good, we really enjoyed it.
• 15:49
Speaker 1: But anyway, venture off of the In Wheel Time Car Talk Show.
• 15:53
Speaker 1: Not really, because it's all car related.
• 15:57
Speaker 2: Road trip road trip.
• 15:58
Speaker 1: It was a road trip and this is another one.
• 15:59
Speaker 1: So this thing called the Twisty Tail of the Dragon, this is out of Robbinsville, north Carolina, and the Great Smoky Mountains up there, and it looks like tons of fun.
• 16:12
  Speaker 1: So, road trip.
• 16:13
Speaker 1: Find you some cute places to stay or Airbnb and go take a road trip.
• 16:19
Speaker 1: Yep, yeah, and if the kids are old enough, go on a road trip with the kids.
• 16:23
Speaker 1: I used to love going on road trips with my mom, and dad had the whole backseat of that Buick.
• 16:30
Speaker 1: Yep, oh, by the Buick Special.
• 16:32
Speaker 1: It was a two-door Buick Special.
• 16:35
Speaker 1: You could invite grandma and grandpa and brothers and sisters and everybody and they'd all fit in the back seat of that thing, got the ice chest and everything back there.
• 16:43
Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, yeah the metal ice chest.
• 16:45
Speaker 2: by the way, the youngest one would be up on the shelf sleeping.
• 16:48
Speaker 3: Yes, shortest, youngest, whatever, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 27:14
Speaker 1: Well, it's got the capability tow and it rides rough without anything towing it, or in the bed.
• 27:20

• 27:22
Speaker 1: But you can't have both.
• 27:23
