Transcript
- 0:00Good morning. This is Dr. Kevin Hartung from
- 0:02Family Chiropractic Center here in McKees Rocks,
- 0:04Pennsylvania, and today I want to talk to you
- 0:07about something that can completely change how
- 0:09your day feels, and that's your morning mobility
- 0:13routine. You know, I hear this all the time in
- 0:15the office. People tell me they wake up stiff,
- 0:18they feel like the Tin Man from The Wizard of
- 0:20Oz. Their back is tight, their neck is cranky,
- 0:23and it takes them half the morning just to feel
- 0:25human again. Sound familiar? Here's the thing.
- 0:28Your body has been lying still for six, seven,
- 0:31maybe eight hours. Your muscles and joints need
- 0:34a little wake -up call. And I'm not talking about
- 0:36some crazy intense workout. I'm talking about
- 0:39five minutes of gentle movement that tells your
- 0:42body, hey, we're ready to start the day. So let
- 0:45me walk you through a super simple routine you
- 0:48can do right when you get out of bed. First,
- 0:51gentle neck circles. Just slowly roll your head
- 0:54in a circle. Five times one direction, five times
- 0:57the other. This wakes up all those little muscles
- 1:00in your neck that get tight overnight. Keep it
- 1:03smooth and controlled. No forcing anything. Next,
- 1:06shoulder rolls. Roll your shoulders up, back,
- 1:10and down. Big, easy circles. Do about 10 of these.
- 1:14You're getting blood flow into your upper back
- 1:16and shoulders. This is huge if you work at a
- 1:18desk or drive a lot. Now, Here's my favorite.
- 1:22Cat and cow stretches. You don't even need to
- 1:25get on the floor for this. Stand up, put your
- 1:26hands on your knees and gently arch your back
- 1:28like a cat stretching. Then let your belly drop
- 1:31and lift your chest. Go back and forth slowly
- 1:33about eight to ten times. This mobilizes your
- 1:37entire spine. It's like oiling the hinges. After
- 1:40that, hip circles. Put your hands on your hips
- 1:43and make big circles with your hips. Five one
- 1:45way, five the other way. Your hips carry you
- 1:48around all day. Let's get them ready for it.
- 1:51And finally, ankle circles. Balance on one foot
- 1:54if you can or hold on to something. Circle each
- 1:57ankle five times in each direction. We forget
- 1:59about our ankles, but they're your foundation.
- 2:01That's it. Five simple movements. Takes maybe
- 2:04five minutes. And here's what I want you to understand.
- 2:07Consistency beats intensity every single time.
- 2:10Doing this every morning is way more powerful
- 2:13than doing some big stretch session once a week.
- 2:16Now if you're doing these movements and something
- 2:19hurts, not just feels tight but actually hurts.
- 2:23That's your body telling you something needs
- 2:25attention. That's when you come see us at Family
- 2:27Chiropractic Center. We can figure out what's
- 2:30going on and get you moving better. The goal
- 2:33here is to start your day feeling good, not fighting
- 2:36your own body. Give this routine two weeks. I
- 2:39think you're going to notice a real difference
- 2:41in how you feel. Thanks for listening everyone.
- 2:44If you have questions about this routine or anything
- 2:46else, give us a call at Family Chiropractic Center
