- 0:54SPEAKER_02: Sorry.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: It's a long, it's been a long day.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: Um, let me start.
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: So hi guys, welcome back to Skincare Anarchy.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: This is your host, Ecta, and I am very excited about our guest today because I was uh telling her right before the interview started how um this is the first product to replace my beloved uh loofahs that I love to use for you know just normal showering and all, you know, just body care, right?
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: So without further ado, I want to introduce you guys to Lizzie Pike, who is the founder of Face Halo.
- 1:25SPEAKER_02: So welcome to the show, Lizzie.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: I'm so excited we're finally doing this.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: Yes, hi Ecta.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: Me too.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: I'm very excited to be here.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for having me.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's such an honor.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: I love your brand and I love that you have uh turned me into a body halo ver, you know, over loofah kind of person because I'm not gonna lie, I'm very like, I'm one of those people that when things work, I leave it alone.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: And then I with this podcast, I've had such an honor and opportunity to try so many amazing brands.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: And yeah, like I this was one of the few products I think I've seen in a long time that was like, okay, yeah, this is gonna change my routine, you know, like a bit.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: I love hearing that.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: So without me ranting too much, I want to uh really focus on you and your journey.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: So if you could uh get us started by, you know, kind of going into what led you to becoming an entrepreneur and um just your background and your your professional training um leading up to this, that'd be great.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: Yes, absolutely.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: Well, I've been working with um these similar type textiles for many, many years now um in different areas.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: Uh, started off with the textiles in the more cleaning.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: So then what I noticed was there was really nothing in the beauty world that ticked all the boxes for you know the halo tech fibers that we've created for um removing makeup and also for the body halo for your body as well.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: So sustainability has always been a massive passion of mine.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: Um, obviously, you know, looking after the planet, but also looking after our skin as well.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: So that led me toward creating face halo, where a real passion, again, like I said, is the sustainability and being the leader of the conversation in banning single-use makeup wipes and changing the way women and men around the world either remove their makeup, cleanse their skin, or in you know, cleanse their body with body halo as well.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: No, um, I I think that you know, the body halo is really where I want to focus a lot on during our interview because the face halo, I love them, by the way.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: I like stack them on my um, you know, my bathroom, like the sink, and I stack them in the corner in a nice little pile.
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: And, you know, they come right out of the washer and they're they've just been so nice to have, like, especially in the winter months, because like it's a nice treat for your skin in the morning.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: Because, you know, I'm not gonna lie to you, like I think there's a lot of hype around, you know, or not hype, but a lot of conversation around uh cleansing and what's the best way to cleanse and all those things, right?
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: And people talk about, well, you're overstripping or you're being too harsh on your skin or don't exfoliate this way, you know.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: So those kind of like things have always been, you know, things you stay mindful of, but it also made me kind of like not really tried these kind of products where it was like a cloth texture, you know, like a like textile that I was using to take off my makeup or just, you know, refresh my face.
- 4:25SPEAKER_02: And this is really kind of in my, you know, from my standpoint, opened my mind about like reapproaching the best, like, you know, the safest habits for daily, like, you know, things like that, like skin habits, like cleansing.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: How should we be cleansing?
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: What's the gentlest way for us to do that?
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: So it's it's it's been great for me.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and that's absolutely correct.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: And you know, to get into the sort of technical side of it, if if I could for a moment.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so the difference between the Halo Tech fibers with face halo and an ordinary cloth, for example, an ordinary cloth or a flannel or anything that's cotton or bamboo, it's just designed, they're designed to just wipe over the surface of your skin.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: So, therefore, that's why you need um a cleanser or another product to use with them to remove anything from your skin.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: Whereas the Halo Tech fibers are actually designed, they're a hundred times finer than a human hair, and they are actually designed to get into your pores, they reach into your pores and they lift and trap any makeup or impurities out of the skin.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: And that's how that's the little bit of magic behind them.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: So, as a bit of a science background on that, it's like when you use an ordinary cloth with a chemical, say if you use a cleanser or exfoliator, um, a liquid one or even a soap bar, they all have what we call surfactants, and it's the so it's 80% water, 20% surfactants, and it's the surfactants that are in the chemicals that act like a magnet to uh get rid of the impurities and makeup from your skin using your ordinary cloth.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: With face halo, it's the water again that breaks down the makeup, and it's the halotech fibers that actually act as the surfactants and the magnet to draw the impurities and makeup off your skin, hence not needing any harsh chemicals.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: So that's why you only need the water with the halo tech fibers, and so they actually replace the need for surfactants.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: That's a little bit of magic there, and then that's why you can then wash and and reuse and reuse them, and you can get you can get rid of single-use makeup wipes, and you actually don't need chemicals either, just water only.
- 6:50SPEAKER_02: So actually, and like some more just science understanding around this, I think, because it's very interesting.
- 6:57SPEAKER_02: Um, when I speak to entrepreneurs such as yourself, and we're talking about these like almost like um, you know, bio like biomed kind of engineering, right?
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: Level of just understanding the technology.
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: Um because uh, you know, the concept is very similar um in terms of how we approach the skin barrier as well, as we do back, which is what you just explained, like you know, how makeup is removed, right?
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: And this process of just like attracting those particles or you know, just the the bigger stuff, you're attracting them to these fibers.
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: And just to give uh listeners an understanding, that's just called uh just capillary suctioning, you know, on like very micro levels, if you think about it.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: So yeah, the fibers are thinner, but the reason that they're able to, you know, bring things up is this is the biophysics of it, right?
- 7:47SPEAKER_02: It's like the thinner it is, it's able to siphon up what kind of liquid, any kind of liquid or particulate that's there.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: And that's the deep level of like I think engineering and technology that people don't understand is like, you know, what is the purpose of using a text, like a textile product, right?
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: So you it just it it kind of leads you into this like uh conversation around not even just makeup and removing makeup, because let's be honest, I think there's enough people uh making things to remove makeup out there in the industry, but I don't think there's anyone who's doing it a sophisticated way, like you're describing here for just skin health, which is waking up after like a long night of say you're partying, you passed out, and you just have like a layer over your skin, right?
- 8:31SPEAKER_02: Like just oil and stuff from the night.
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: So that's makeup, that's just making sure that you're cleansing that layer, that film over your face, but you're not disrupting your skin barrier, which has been one of the biggest you know contributing factors for the argument that physical exfoliation is worse than chemical exfoliation, right?
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: So, like I'm totally saying that, yeah, absolutely, because I couldn't agree with you more.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: It's not just about makeup removal, it is about cleansing the skin, and it gives you such a gentle exfoliation because the fibers are so for so fine, and it gives you a gentle exfoliation and it doesn't disrupt the natural pH balance of your skin because it's with water only, right?
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: So you're not using chemicals to disrupt that.
- 9:18SPEAKER_02: Fatty acids in your skin barrier, which are what contribute to the pH of your skin.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 9:23SPEAKER_02: This is, I think, brilliant.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: That's what I that's what I think, you know.
- 9:27SPEAKER_02: Like I love the engineering, that's what I was trying to get at is that you know, it's not about always putting chemicals on your face, it's about what are you using to just remove a film, right?
- 9:37SPEAKER_02: I mean, I I think I like to imagine skincare if we were in cavemen times.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: What would we do, right?
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: What what would you do if you didn't have all the chemicals to take all this stuff off?
- 9:47SPEAKER_02: How would you treat your skin?
- 9:49SPEAKER_02: And I think by having a product like face halo and having those little wipes and just using water, like you're saying, is really taking it down to the fundamentals of how to truly cleanse your skin, right?
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: And that's what that's what I think, at least.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it is, and a hundred percent.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: And the reason um that I started with the white one is because I knew people needed to be convinced, right?
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: So when you can see, like when I wake up in the morning, I've already removed my makeup the night before, but when I wake up in the morning to follow on from what you're saying about that layer of oils and dead skin cells that happen during the night when you're sleeping, you wake up in the morning and I'll use my white face halo.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: And to this day, every morning I go, wow, look at that.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: Because I can see that layer that's gently come off my skin.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: And my skin has never been better because I do not use any chemicals on my skin.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: And so when I see that layer coming off in the morning, that it still blows me away because I don't think people realize that you actually need to cleanse your skin in the morning because otherwise those layers build up, and then you put makeup on, or you get more impurities throughout the day, of just even pollution coming onto your skin, and that needs to be removed, and just water alone won't do it, won't do it.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: But the safety of the textile and the halo tech fibers and the water actually gets into your pores and gives it that real cleanse.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: And a lot of people I've spoken to over the years, whether they be um dermatologists or doctors like yourself, they will say, especially to the young people that suffer from acne or dermatitis or any skin implement uh things, it's like it's one of the most gentlest ways to actually clean your skin properly.
- 11:38SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 11:38SPEAKER_02: And you know, I actually want to share this with you because um I think this goes really hand in hand.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: And everyone listening, I'm going to be doing this.
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: Um I I actually I can incorporate the aspect of just using face halo to show people how to do this because I'm coming up, I I'm gonna be doing a series basically where um I'm trying to show, I think um, from what I've experienced and what I'm noticing in terms of the science and just what makes sense is that this idea of cleansing and what we're propagating out to the consumers needs to be changed.
- 12:10SPEAKER_02: And the whole culture around cleansing your face uh needs to change because it's leading to nothing but like a snowball effect of misinformation.
- 12:19SPEAKER_02: And when I say that, I mean um, you know, exactly what like going back to what we were discussing, which is uh you need to no matter what in the mornings take off that layer, right?
- 12:29SPEAKER_02: And that what is that?
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: That's just like it's like biofilm, it's like you know, it's C bomb, it's just like a film, right?
- 12:35SPEAKER_02: That forms over your face.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: And people assume that to do that, you need harsh cleansers or things that have, you know, something that's gonna remove, you know, like a like like you were saying, surfactant.
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: But what I'm noticing is that lately what I've been doing, personal skincare routine, I'm using products like if I wake up, I do a clarifying mask, uh, and that clarifying mask sucks up all of the oil and it sucks out everything I need.
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: So that itself is a cleanse.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: Uh so cleansing doesn't have to involve cleansers only.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: You have to find the things that your skin needs in a given moment.
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: So you can use a mask and say, that's my day, that's my morning cleanse.
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: Because you do the mask, it dries, you wipe it off with water and the face halo.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: That's a cleanse.
- 13:18SPEAKER_02: Uh you know what I mean?
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: So like redefining what it is to cleanse your face.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: And I think that's where tools such as yours really come into the picture because we need to just, you know, we we need different ways to do the same thing.
- 13:32SPEAKER_02: That's really where, you know, finding the balances for good skin health.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: And I agree with you, it's totally an education.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: And that's what, you know, in the last four years of doing face halo is getting out there, educating people on just that.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: You don't need the 10-step routine to cleanse your face.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: You can if you if you choose to, but we need to educate people that it's not necessary.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: Like if you put your mask on in the morning and then wet your face halo with water and remove your mask, that's the perfect way to cleanse your skin.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Or you can just use the face halo, or you can, you know, use a cleanser.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: So we just need to educate people on what is actually really good skin health.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: And and that is sometimes just taking it back to basics, really taking it back to basics and not only looking after your skin health by cleansing like that, but also to look after the planet.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: You know, that's also another real passion of our of ours at face halo is looking after the planet as well as looking after your skin health.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: And we love that we can combine the two there.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: Because by using your face halo, like you say, you have them stacked up in your body halo, and you just wash and reuse and wash and reuse, um, you know, up to 200 machine washes for face halo, or you can just hand wash it while you're in the shower and then hang to dry and use it next time.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: So if we just educate people on that, that the best way for skin health is also helping the planet, then it's a bit of a win-win there too.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: Well, also, it's like, you know, um, you know, I I don't like to like just I don't like to tread too much into the sustainability argument as of late, because you know, I'm coming to a no a personal realization that a whole different slew, but I completely agree with you in the sense that obvious this is the obvious fix to the you know ridiculous amount of face wipes and stuff that we're putting out into the, you know what I mean, like our our environment.
- 15:32SPEAKER_02: But also what really gets me is like that there is such lack of understanding around the science of the things that you use to take products off your face.
- 15:41SPEAKER_02: And when I say that, I'm talking about cotton swabs.
- 15:44SPEAKER_02: Cotton swabs are actually really bad for your skin.
- 15:47SPEAKER_02: I don't know if anyone really talks about that or knows that.
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: But like if you use a cotton swab, the likely of you disrupting something on in terms of charges of your skin barrier is a lot higher than you using refined textiles that are, you know what I mean?
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: That they've been looked at on under that microscope.
- 16:04SPEAKER_02: They've been looked at on that micro level to understand what's really happening because you're not dealing with charged, like you know, you see what I'm trying to say here, Lizzie.
- 16:14SPEAKER_02: Like, I think you follow where I'm saying.
- 16:16SPEAKER_02: There is a fine thing, yeah.
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: And that's what you're saying about cotton swabs and you know, uh products like that that literally wipe over the surface, and it's because they are rough on your skin that they are disrupting that um balance of your skin there.
- 16:33SPEAKER_01: Whereas the, and this is where the education comes into people, these super, super fine fibers that are so gentle on your skin and they're reaching into your pores as opposed to scraping off the barrier as cotton swaps and cleansers can do.
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: Yes, absolutely.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: I couldn't agree more.
- 16:50SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 16:51SPEAKER_02: And that's really the that's the sophistication of the science.
- 16:55SPEAKER_02: You know, this is this is I love interviewing um, you know, brands such as Face Halo.
- 17:01SPEAKER_02: I I'm it's such an honor to interview you because truly I have such an appreciation for the immense science and the understanding and the the you know real change in perspective that this can bring to just everyday consumers when they're just you know taking care of themselves.
- 17:17SPEAKER_02: It's a huge, it's little things like this that we don't notice, but they make the biggest changes and impact in the overall way that your skin is going to function.
- 17:26SPEAKER_02: You know, it's it if you're using things that are constantly stripping or you don't know that your cotton swabs, you know, are basically disrupting and that static force that's made is disrupting the actual proteins in skin barriers.
- 17:39SPEAKER_02: Is a fact.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: Like, look it up on PubMed.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: This actually happens.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: If you can start understanding these principles as consumers, you know, we can start making choices.
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: And brands like you are really what get highlighted because that's where the logic is, right?
- 17:52SPEAKER_02: Like when you create some logic, you have to have the consumers on the same page, right?
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: And that's where the real funneling can happen in terms of that more intelligent consumer that wants more information.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: They want to know why they would replace their face cotton swabs with face halo.
- 18:08SPEAKER_02: What's the reason?
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: And this is podcasts like yours is so important because you also have the education and experience in your field, so you know exactly like explaining about cotton swabs, and because you've got that experience and education behind you, people will listen to you.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: And this is where you know I'm really grateful to come on a podcast like this and explain the um science behind how face halo actually works, and that it is more gentle for your skin and better for your skin.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: And even you talking about how much you love the body halo, like you'll notice on one side I we've I've created a knitted visco, which is it removes the top layer of the dry skin, and then you've got the halo tech fibers on the other side again, which gently get into your pores, and that's why the body halo is so effective, because people are used to you know using much more rough products on their body because that's what they think they have to do to get rid of their dry skin or to get rid of, but you actually don't.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: It's about doing that gentle exfoliation to truly give your skin that deep cleanse.
- 19:19SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 19:20SPEAKER_02: And you know, I want to actually insert something really interesting here, uh, or I find it to be interesting, is that the difference in um perspective when it comes to just body cleansing um as it's been propagated in the West versus Eastern cultures because of the climate, you know, and in the West, obviously it's more cold, you know, Northwest, especially like the Americas and Europe, it's it's a colder climate.
- 19:43SPEAKER_02: So people haven't utilized um, you know, the same things that people have been doing in the eastern, you know, part of the world, which is a lot more humid and your skin um sheds skin, you know, it sheds in a different way, is what I'm trying to say.
- 19:57SPEAKER_02: So you know, where I'm going with this, the reason I love the body halo so much is because in Indian culture, we call it, you know, I remember being a child and my grandmother used to do this, but every time you take a hot bath or a hot shower afterwards, your skin is very supple, right?
- 20:14SPEAKER_02: And so what you're supposed to take do is just take your hands and in like a um like a rotation, you grab your arm and just like kind of like rub it so that that excess skin comes off.
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: And it's a not it's a way to exfoliate your skin using your hand or something.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: And that's what FaceTalo reminds me of is that there it's a practice, it's a culture um difference when it comes to how we exfoliate, how we treat, you know, um, body care, how we approach body care.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: And, you know, these kind of things have been proven to be the right way to exfoliate your body's skin, like what I just described, what Eastern cultures are doing, you know, just because it they happen to grow up in that hotter climate, you know, it's just natural for them to do it.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: So now I'm starting to see this implemented into really the self-care rituals and the trends that are emerging in the West is this understanding of there is no one way, there is no one size fits all.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: You don't have to rub the crap out of your skin to exfoliate it.
- 21:07SPEAKER_02: That's not called exfoliating, you know?
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I absolutely love that story of your heritage and you know the way that we used to do things.
- 21:16SPEAKER_01: And that's what I feel is what Face Halo is bringing back to our culture, and that's why it's actually almost such an education that we have to do, because we became a society that found everything just quick and easy.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: Whereas this is it's actually easier, it's more efficient, and it is quicker.
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: But people think that's hard to, they find that hard to believe because that you know, we also were brought up to think if it's too good to be true, it normally is, right?
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: So when I hear you talk about a story like that about your grandmother, that's really, you know, there was a way of that gentle exfoliation when your skin was nice and warm, um, getting out of the shower.
- 21:59SPEAKER_01: And that's That's exactly what face halo does for your body and your face.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: It's that super, super gentle exfoliation just by the science of the fibers and water only.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: And it and that's why it is an education because people think what and I hear it all the time, people saying, What is this magic?
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: I don't know how this actually works, but hey, you know what, people, it really works.
- 22:21SPEAKER_01: So that's why I feel very fortunate to be able to have these conversations.
- 22:26SPEAKER_02: Oh no, yeah, it's the honor is truly mine, Lizzie, honestly, because I think the brilliance of beauty products is really where um I find my niche to be with this podcast is that, you know, entrepreneurs, women such as yourself are creating brilliant products and you guys are killing it.
- 22:44SPEAKER_02: And you know, there's so much thought behind these products that, yeah, they're marketed and they're made available in a very fun way and an easy way to like, you know, incorporate into your routine.
- 22:54SPEAKER_02: But do you know how much thought and intelligence goes behind creating something like this?
- 22:58SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, to find the right textiles to use and and to make sure that it works and the science, the science is working.
- 23:04SPEAKER_02: But then also, you know, you're appealing to it's it's a lot of you know effort and it's a lot of hard work and it's a lot of just dedication and understanding.
- 23:12SPEAKER_02: And then so I have nothing but respect for um, you know, just leaders like yourself.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: So I'm I'm very honored to host you here.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: And I hope and I actually want to say one more thing to everyone listening.
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: Um, and I want to offer a suggestion is that I think you should make gloves with the same material that you have for the body halo because of what I just said um about the rituals in the East.
- 23:33SPEAKER_02: Because if you use your hand to exfoliate, it's a natural and it's less there's no such thing as like damage.
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 23:41SPEAKER_02: Like you're using like the most uh normal motion to exfoliate your skin.
- 23:45SPEAKER_02: And and you know, I can share some resources resources with you later, but like I think it would be great like to have that.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: Yes, as the actual glove to be able to like take it back to that way of um, you know, years ago, like you're saying, just to rub it with your hand.
- 24:00SPEAKER_01: I love that idea.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: That's definitely something I'm going to start exploring.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: So thank you for that suggestion.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: I I think that's a terrific idea.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:09SPEAKER_02: I just, you know, um, I wanted to share that, but also it's it's also an understanding that I hope consumers have or uh, you know, again, more is not always better.
- 24:18SPEAKER_02: So that applies to your body, you know, you don't have to buy 18 different things to like scrub your body, just have that one thing that works for you, the one thing that's gentle enough to use every day, and you're good.
- 24:29SPEAKER_02: So I love what you're doing.
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: I I absolutely love your brand.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: Oh, thank you so much.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, I'm I'm I'm so thrilled to hear that you you do.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: And you know, when you were talking about, you know, there's a lot of research that goes into it, it is very important um to for the face, and this is one of my things when we when I first started on this journey was, you know, I had got so many prototypes done from different manufacturers around the world, and that's why I ended up going to Korea, because of course, you know, that's the sort of you know where they started the whole beauty skin regime, and Koreans are very particular with their skin regime.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: So I knew that I would find it there, the right sort of fabric, the right textile, the right combination of everything put together to be able to create the most gentle one for your skin.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: And there's lots of different um technologies out there, but I truly believe that face hello is the one that we've created that is it's like a bit of a cloud for your face.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: So people don't even understand they're giving that gentle exfoliation at the same time, which is not harming your skin, which we've been talking a lot about on this this podcast today, about looking after that skin health.
- 25:45SPEAKER_01: And in fact, you know, I've had a lot of customers that you know, a lot of customers with severe psoriasis or eczema that unfortunately weren't able to even wear makeup before face halo because there was nothing they could use that would gently remove their makeup.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: And so we've been able to help a lot of people in and along that journey as well, because it is perfect for all skin types and especially sensitive skin.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: So again, it's just about getting that education out there so people know that it to look after your skin, like you say, you don't need all these harsh chemicals, you don't need a raft of things.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: If you just keep it simple, sometimes that is better.
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, you don't need the three and four hundred dollar tools either.
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: You know, I remember when it came out, I was just like baffled at everybody that was investing in this brush.
- 26:32SPEAKER_02: I mean, I don't get me wrong, Clarisonic was brilliant, okay?
- 26:35SPEAKER_02: Brilliant product, but you don't have to have that to practice, you know, proper uh cleansing rituals that are good for you.
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: And this idea of this individual this individual um individualization of our self-care routines is I think really central, especially now, because uh everywhere I look, uh TikTok, on Instagram, anywhere, it's people are just regurgitating the same information.
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: Oh, double cleanse, double cleanse, you don't uh I don't think I don't know why no one pauses to think like you know, the further you deviate from what's naturally like supposed to happen with our bodies, with nature, the more complicated it gets.
- 27:16SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 27:17SPEAKER_02: And it's like it's not that it's not that we need to figure out what's sustainable beauty or what's green beauty or what's organic or other, it's just that just stay uh true to the things that have worked for centuries, which is people have always used that textile to cleanse their skin, their body.
- 27:34SPEAKER_02: It's it's a thing that has been passed down from culture and generation to generation.
- 27:38SPEAKER_02: It works.
- 27:40SPEAKER_02: Why are we that with all of these harsh chemicals and these brand new compounds that we come up with in the lab?
- 27:46SPEAKER_02: That makes no sense, right?
- 27:47SPEAKER_02: So that's yeah, I completely agree with you.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: And and it is again, it's just about that education of taking it back, stripping away, you know, a lot of what we've been told is the right way to do it, or even introduced to new, oh, you have to do this now, you have to try this product.
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: It's it's just re-educating our customers, even ourselves, in the way that keeping it simple is sometimes the best.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: And you know, water again, like we keep saying, doesn't disrupt the natural pH balance of your skin.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, it's just getting back to basics and what really works and looking after our skin health.
- 28:29SPEAKER_02: Yes, absolutely.
- 28:30SPEAKER_02: And you know, I actually I did an article about this on our medium, um, our medium account about water and its role and how it works with like acids and stuff like that.
- 28:41SPEAKER_02: I just, you know, Lizzie, I think, you know, the I'm one of you, you know, I I'm like you.
- 28:46SPEAKER_02: I just want people to understand that there's a lot of science there and it's some really cool stuff.
- 28:51SPEAKER_02: And the way that, you know, the pH and the molecules and everything work together in our health and any organ is that's worth understanding because that's how you're gonna figure out what's good for you.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: And just to actually round out the episode, and I really have been excited to share this with everyone listening because I'm gonna start doing this a lot more, is a suggested routine.
- 29:11SPEAKER_02: And um, what I'm really experimenting now with is finding alternative ways for people to approach their skin health routines.
- 29:19SPEAKER_02: So, one thing I've been doing um where face halo is uh the tool I use to take off, right?
- 29:25SPEAKER_02: Like in the morning and stuff my that film on my face.
- 29:28SPEAKER_02: Um I've been doing an oil-based routine.
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: So the only I'm using are products that are oil-based.
- 29:36SPEAKER_02: That's my retinol, that includes um any kind of anti-inflammatory or antioxidant product I have.
- 29:41SPEAKER_02: Everything is based on in oil.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: And the reason I'm doing this is because, like I've said before, you know, Egyptian cultures, ancient cultures always used oils for preserving their skin.
- 29:51SPEAKER_02: And so I'm like, you know what?
- 29:52SPEAKER_02: What if we did a full oil skincare routine?
- 29:55SPEAKER_02: I've been doing that, I've been loving it.
- 29:57SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna share details about that.
- 29:58SPEAKER_02: But the point is, I've been using face halo to really take off that oil um, you know, in the mornings with some water added in there, you know, just for gentle, like just breaking up that, you know, the lipid barrier or whatever.
- 30:09SPEAKER_02: But it's been working really great.
- 30:11SPEAKER_02: I've loved it.
- 30:12SPEAKER_01: It's interesting you say that actually, because if at times if I ever use anything, it is absolutely an oil blake based cleanser.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: Um, sometimes when I wake up in the morning and I use my face halo, and then sometimes I will rub some oil in just to nourish my skin and then remove it with the face halo as well.
- 30:31SPEAKER_01: And I couldn't agree with you more that if I was to use anything, it's the oil-based products.
- 30:36SPEAKER_01: And I I can't wait to hear what you um when you bring that out, that education around that, because I 100% agree with you that the oil-based products are the best.
- 30:46SPEAKER_01: And again, especially if it's it's based on olive oil or anything supernatural like that, it your skin just loves that kind of product.
- 30:55SPEAKER_02: Well, also, I've been reading a lot, and this is just a little like side note, but I was reading that oil helps with the penetration actives a lot, it really, really aids them, and it's a synergistic effect.
- 31:08SPEAKER_02: So, you know, yeah, just I'm gonna release a lot more information about that and come out with that feature.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: And um, I'd love for you to check it out.
- 31:14SPEAKER_02: But like I I think people will like it because I'm finding out a lot of science and it makes sense to use oil-based products.
- 31:19SPEAKER_02: So, you know, if that's something you want to try out, if you're listening and you want to try that routine once I put it out there, definitely recommend invest in some face halos.
- 31:28SPEAKER_02: It's a, you know, it's part of the routine that I'm using.
- 31:30SPEAKER_02: So if you want to really follow it to the T, uh, definitely check them out.
- 31:34SPEAKER_02: But I I've been loving it.
- 31:35SPEAKER_02: And like I said, you know, um, it's really great to have products that are making life easier, especially with everyone going back to work with COVID.
- 31:42SPEAKER_02: You know, no one has time to do all the little things we have to do, right?
- 31:46SPEAKER_02: It's like a complete transition back to normality.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: And it's just it's taking longer than normal.
- 31:50SPEAKER_02: So to have products that you can pop in your bag, you can pop in your, you know, just whatever you need to put it in and just have it throughout the day, that's very important.
- 31:58SPEAKER_01: I think that's very the perfect little travel companion too.
- 32:02SPEAKER_01: You know, people love taking their face halos when they travel, and now everyone's getting back to travel again, finally.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: Um, it is people find it, it's let's pop it in their beauty kit to travel, and they don't have to worry about all the cleansers and the liquids and everything else.
- 32:17SPEAKER_01: It's it is so it is just one of those handy little tools that cleans your face, it removes face masks, it removes oil.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: Like if when you want to use an oil cleanser, it's so easy to remove all of that and just have it in your bag for whenever.
- 32:31SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 32:32SPEAKER_02: And also just like a tip that has been really, really great.
- 32:35SPEAKER_02: Um, is I use my face halo and also like my favorite face mist on it.
- 32:41SPEAKER_02: Like if I'm if this is great for like flights for those of you who are like um having to fly again because of work and stuff.
- 32:47SPEAKER_02: If you're on a plane, take it with you, have your favorite, you know, little mini spritz of your face mist that you take with you, anyways, and spray it on your face halo and then just like dab it into your face and also like sweep, and it's the best feeling, like it's like a full rejuvenation, like you feel so refreshed.
- 33:04SPEAKER_02: So it's like you know, it it's allowing for new ways for me to like practice self-care, you know, in in places where you normally wouldn't do it.
- 33:11SPEAKER_02: And I and I really, really appreciate that about your product because that's I think that's real innovation when you can do that.
- 33:17SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much.
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much.
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: It's you're a delight to talk with.
- 33:22SPEAKER_01: I love your knowledge, I love your experience, and uh I love your podcast.

- 33:45SPEAKER_01: It's just been a real delight.
- 33:47SPEAKER_01: And I can't wait to see your oil cleansing routine.
- 33:50SPEAKER_01: And I want to I want to read that and try it as soon as possible.
- 33:54SPEAKER_02: Yes, absolutely.
- 33:55SPEAKER_02: I I would love to hear your feedback on that.
