- 0:00Speaker 1: For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as
- 0:03Speaker 1: unto them. But the word preached did not profit them,
- 0:06Speaker 1: because their faith did not feed on the word. The
- 0:10Speaker 1: word of God is the life support of our faith.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We live by the word of God. Blessed be God
- 0:22Speaker 1: and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ecclesiastes chapter 7
- 0:26Speaker 1: verse 14 In the day of prosperity, in the day
- 0:32Speaker 1: of prosperity, be joyful. But in the day of adversity,
- 0:38Speaker 1: consider God also has set the one over against the
- 0:43Speaker 1: other to the end that man should find nothing after him.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Welcome to Faith Feed episode 204. In the day of prosperity,
- 0:52Speaker 1: in the day of prosperity. Prosperity is what every man
- 1:00Speaker 1: on earth longs for, seeks after. But being prosperous has
- 1:05Speaker 1: nothing to do with the assurance of your joy in
- 1:09Speaker 1: the day of adversity. Scripture says, I wish above all
- 1:12Speaker 1: things that you prosper even as.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Your soul prospers.
- 1:17Speaker 1: 3 John 1 verse 2 was trying to tell us
- 1:20Speaker 1: that your physical prosperity is in similitude with.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Your soul or spiritual prosperity.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Because the day of adversity targets the soul of a man,
- 1:32Speaker 1: targets the soul of an individual. 2 Samuel 4 verse
- 1:36Speaker 1: 9 says, And David answered Rechab and Banner, his brother,
- 1:41Speaker 1: the son of Ramon the Beorotite, and said unto them.
- 1:45Speaker 2: As the Lord liveth, as the Lord liveth, as the
- 1:48Speaker 2: Lord liveth.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Who redeemed, who had redeemed my soul, my soul out
- 1:55Speaker 1: of all, not few, not some, not even many.
- 2:00Speaker 2: All adversity, all adversities.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Yes, one of the signs that your soul is under attack,
- 2:07Speaker 1: your soul is not prosperous, is that you lose your joy.
- 2:10Speaker 1: The first thing is that you lose your peace. For
- 2:14Speaker 1: the Bible says, the kingdom of God is not meat
- 2:15Speaker 1: or drink, but righteousness, peace, and what?
- 2:18Speaker 2: Joy. and the Holy Ghost. So you lose those two essence.
- 2:22Speaker 1: You may still have that understanding of the righteousness, but
- 2:25Speaker 1: the other part of the peace and joy is gone.
- 2:27Speaker 1: That is why you must learn to embrace the fruit
- 2:31Speaker 1: of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, you know, long-suffering, meekness.
- 2:36Speaker 1: There are several fruits that helps a man overcome in
- 2:42Speaker 1: the day of adversity. Even though the part of the
- 2:46Speaker 1: just is as a shining light that shines brighter and brighter.
- 2:49Speaker 1: That means you are meant to go from glory to glory.
- 2:51Speaker 1: The later must be greater than the former and all that.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Along the way, along the journey, every phase of life,
- 2:57Speaker 1: every stage of life, there are levels of adversity that
- 3:00Speaker 1: will come to test whether your soul is in order.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Your soul is still prosperous even while you are prospering.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Keeping your joy is important too. Keeping your joy is important.
- 3:12Speaker 1: That's why Jesus urges us that we should seek first
- 3:15Speaker 1: the kingdom, his kingdom. Because the only way by which
- 3:19Speaker 1: you can effectively what? The kingdom of God is not
- 3:23Speaker 1: meat and drink, but righteousness, peace and joy. The only
- 3:26Speaker 1: way you can effectively... embrace that consciousness of peace and
- 3:30Speaker 1: joy in the Holy Ghost is to be established, what?
- 3:34Speaker 1: In the reality of God's kingdom's righteousness. Now, we are
- 3:39Speaker 1: not saying that you should not work hard. You should
- 3:41Speaker 1: not be in the marketplace.
- 3:42Speaker 2: You should not, what? Pursue financial prosperity.
- 3:45Speaker 1: No. We are saying that in the quest of every
- 3:49Speaker 1: prosperity that you are looking for, let God be the driver.
- 3:53Speaker 1: The Bible says, Meditate, the book of the Lord shall
- 3:56Speaker 1: not depart out of thy mouth. Joshua 1.8 Thou shalt
- 3:58Speaker 1: meditate upon it day and night, for therein thou shalt
- 4:01Speaker 1: make thy way prosperous. So in the day of prosperity,
- 4:06Speaker 1: it is the kingdom of God that is your anchor,
- 4:11Speaker 1: not your riches or what.
- 4:13Speaker 2: You have accomplished or what you have built.
- 4:15Speaker 1: This means your joy in the day of prosperity is
- 4:19Speaker 1: not coming from, you know, material things. The physical is
- 4:23Speaker 1: coming from that understanding, which is the fact that your
- 4:26Speaker 1: soul is prosperous. The scripture says, be joyful in the
- 4:31Speaker 1: day of prosperity. And then in the day of adversity,
- 4:33Speaker 1: consider it. Now it says, why? Because God has set one.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Let's interpret it this way.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Follow me.
- 4:38Speaker 1: It says, God has set one over the other. That
- 4:39Speaker 1: means we can say it this way. God has set
- 4:42Speaker 1: prosperity over adversity. And God has set adversity over prosperity.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Let me explain.
- 4:49Speaker 1: You cannot face prosperity without adversity. And you cannot face
- 4:55Speaker 1: adversity without what?
- 4:58Speaker 2: Prosperity.
- 4:58Speaker 1: That means you must be, nobody goes to look for the,
- 5:02Speaker 1: you're not going to fight the enemies.
- 5:04Speaker 2: If you don't know that, you will not win. You
- 5:05Speaker 2: will not take over the kingdom. You get.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And the same way too, adversity cannot prevail over your territory. See,
- 5:12Speaker 1: calamity may come. Affliction may come. Distress will come. Bad
- 5:16Speaker 1: news will come. Evil will come. But ensure that your
- 5:19Speaker 1: soul is secured in such a way that those things
- 5:22Speaker 1: does not change the trajectory of your soul's prosperity. Because
- 5:26Speaker 1: God is interested in that. When the Bible says, seek
- 5:28Speaker 1: first the kingdom of God, it's talking to your soul.
- 5:30Speaker 1: That's why Jesus said, in your patience, possess ye your soul.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Because your soul is one of the vital commodities that
- 5:37Speaker 1: is used to do business on earth. That means when
- 5:40Speaker 1: the devil is coming to a man, he's looking for
- 5:42Speaker 1: the soul of a man. He's looking to tie down
- 5:45Speaker 1: a man through what? the afflictions that come to you
- 5:49Speaker 1: so through what the depression the frustration the disappointment but
- 5:53Speaker 1: you don't give the devil chance so in the day
- 5:55Speaker 1: of your you have to what be fortified and even
- 5:58Speaker 1: when you are trying to break through you're trying to
- 6:00Speaker 1: conquer a territory trying to conquer a kingdom you're fighting
- 6:04Speaker 1: the enemy with the mind that you'll be what prosperous
- 6:07Speaker 1: So the aim of conquering adversity is for prosperity. And
- 6:10Speaker 1: the aim of prosperity is also set over God has
- 6:12Speaker 1: set this back. That's why it says in the next verse.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Let's read it in Exodus 37. After it talks about
- 6:17Speaker 1: in the day of prosperity, consider and all that. It
- 6:19Speaker 1: says in verse 15. his life in his wickedness he
- 6:30Speaker 1: says but be not righteous over much be not righteous
- 6:33Speaker 1: over much neither make thyself over wise why should thou
- 6:37Speaker 1: destroy thyself so you see the balance to this verse
- 6:41Speaker 1: 17 says be not overly wicked neither be thou foolish
- 6:44Speaker 1: why should thou die before thy time? That means many
- 6:47Speaker 1: people die before that time because they do not understand
- 6:50Speaker 1: this law of balance. While you are chasing the wealth,
- 6:53Speaker 1: while you are chasing physical prosperity, you must also be
- 6:56Speaker 1: intentional about chasing your soul.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Your spiritual prosperity.
- 6:59Speaker 1: The last verse said, Lord, this I have seen, I
- 7:02Speaker 1: have found, that God had made man upright.
- 7:04Speaker 2: God had made man righteous.
- 7:06Speaker 1: But man, they have sought out many inventions.
- 7:12Speaker 2: See, inventions are not bad.
- 7:14Speaker 1: But most times, they become a distraction to the will,
- 7:18Speaker 1: the alignment of God's purpose for man. And at the
- 7:21Speaker 1: end of the day, you will see people more depression.
- 7:23Speaker 1: You will see more frustration. You will see more negative calamity. Why?
- 7:27Speaker 1: Because the focus is now more on invention. It is
- 7:31Speaker 1: God that has all the inventions. It is God that
- 7:33Speaker 1: created man. And God has a time for everything. God
- 7:36Speaker 1: has given man the wisdom for multiplication, for discovery. But
- 7:40Speaker 1: the problem is where man begins to chase, pay more attention,
- 7:46Speaker 1: not balanced. And his soul does not prosper. He does
- 7:50Speaker 1: not possess his soul. With what?
- 7:53Speaker 2: Patience. God is not against discovery. He's not against inventions.
- 7:57Speaker 1: He's not against the possibility of we expanding our capacity.
- 8:02Speaker 1: He's against the fact that we pay so much attention,
- 8:07Speaker 1: so much consideration... to the matters of external over the
- 8:12Speaker 1: matters of internal. Because at the end of the day,
- 8:15Speaker 1: the problem of man is internal. The problem of man
- 8:19Speaker 1: is inside man. If a man cannot find comfort within himself,
- 8:23Speaker 1: it is not inventions that will bring comfort to him.
- 8:27Speaker 1: So God solves the problem, brought the balance to us
- 8:31Speaker 1: so that we can be able to be secured in
- 8:35Speaker 1: our work and covenant with him through Jesus. So Solomon
- 8:39Speaker 1: is not trying to say be overly righteous or be wicked. No,
- 8:43Speaker 1: he's trying to let us know that there is God's
- 8:46Speaker 1: angle to every perspective that is upon the face.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Of the earth. Even the evil man's perspective.
- 8:52Speaker 1: And that God's angle is the balance we are talking
- 8:54Speaker 1: about that his people will advance in the day of
- 8:58Speaker 1: prosperity or in the day of adversity.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Psalm 94 verse 12.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord, and
- 9:07Speaker 1: teachest him out of thy law, that thou mayest give
- 9:10Speaker 1: him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit
- 9:19Speaker 1: is dug or digged for the wicked, people that are
- 9:22Speaker 1: against God. So that rest that you need in the
- 9:26Speaker 1: day of adversity can only come from what? The prosperity
- 9:30Speaker 1: of your soul. It can only come from the salvation
- 9:34Speaker 1: of your soul.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Now see a balance.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Isaiah 30, reading from verse 19. For the people shall
- 9:40Speaker 1: dwell in Zion and Jerusalem, thou shalt weep no more.
- 9:43Speaker 1: He will be very gracious unto thee and hear the
- 9:45Speaker 1: voice of thy cry. When thou hear it, he will
- 9:47Speaker 1: answer thee.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Verse 20. And though the Lord give you, you can say, permit.
- 9:51Speaker 2: God permit.
- 9:52Speaker 1: God doesn't use the understanding from our perspectives as believers. See,
- 9:56Speaker 1: God give you the bread of adversity. So there is
- 9:59Speaker 1: a bread of adversity. and the water of yet shall
- 10:02Speaker 1: not thy teachers be removed into the corner but thou
- 10:05Speaker 1: but thy eyes shall see thy teachers and thy ears
- 10:07Speaker 1: shall hear the word behind you saying this is the
- 10:10Speaker 1: way walk ye in it when ye turn to the
- 10:14Speaker 1: right hand So in the day of adversity, God will
- 10:20Speaker 1: bring people your way to instruct you for your soul
- 10:24Speaker 1: to be secured and your joy to be intact.
- 10:27Speaker 2: I remain the faith champion of Christ. Remember, be God-fearing.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Be God-fearing.
- 10:31Speaker 1: The Lord commands the angels of your waters to be stirred.
- 10:33Speaker 1: The Lord lift up the light of his countenance upon you.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Blessed be God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Amen. Faith Feed.
