- 0:01Speaker 1: Hi, I'm Sam Irvin, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:10Speaker 2: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:13Speaker 2: Picture Association of America.
- 0:15Speaker 3: It is intended for mature audiences, and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:19Speaker 4: It's showtime, folks.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Enjoy the show.
- 0:34Speaker 5: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:04Speaker 5: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:06Speaker 6: I'm Brian.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Joining me today is.
- 1:09Speaker 5: Dick Stein.
- 1:10Speaker 6: And we are coming to you live via digital recording
- 1:16Speaker 6: across the internets once again.
- 1:32Speaker 3: From the Oddity Studios and your place. So now we
- 1:35Speaker 3: get to play the game. What's the name of your place?
- 1:39Speaker 5: What's the name of my place?
- 1:42Speaker 3: First, I don't think I ever did in my life
- 1:44Speaker 3: until I started recording. And then I came up with
- 1:46Speaker 3: a dumb name for wherever the hell I lived in.
- 1:48Speaker 3: So now I make everyone else give their name, give
- 1:52Speaker 3: their place that they live a name. So now you
- 1:55Speaker 3: have to come up with something.
- 1:57Speaker 5: I got you. I will actually give you the update
- 2:01Speaker 5: later on in this episode.
- 2:03Speaker 3: You work on it, but we are once again, this
- 2:06Speaker 3: has now become an ongoing series in the world that
- 2:10Speaker 3: we live in. I realized after we got one last
- 2:14Speaker 3: one in under the wire when we sat down and
- 2:17Speaker 3: talked and even then I could only rope one person
- 2:19Speaker 3: into showing up, but after that I was like, oh, well,
- 2:22Speaker 3: I guess we're on lockdown now and everybody's on quarantine.
- 2:27Speaker 3: So we're not going to see each other for quite
- 2:29Speaker 3: a while. How about we just check in every once
- 2:32Speaker 3: in a while and make sure people are still alive
- 2:35Speaker 3: and doing okay. And then we'll be like, Hey, what
- 2:38Speaker 3: are you up to? So I figured that would be
- 2:41Speaker 3: its own little sub series. Now the quarantine edition.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Well now, okay. Where, where, where are you broadcasting from exactly?
- 2:49Speaker 5: What was the name of your, your cave?
- 2:51Speaker 3: Mine is, I mean, yeah, the alternate is the meltdown compound, but,
- 2:56Speaker 3: which is probably more fitting now, but the like official
- 2:59Speaker 3: studio would be the oddity studios, which is pretty much
- 3:02Speaker 3: anywhere I've recorded from. Cause I don't know. I made
- 3:05Speaker 3: that up when I came up with this whole, truthfully
- 3:08Speaker 3: that existed before the show did that was connected. And you,
- 3:12Speaker 3: you more than most people know there were like the
- 3:14Speaker 3: art shows and then we were doing a magazine. And
- 3:18Speaker 3: so like all of that, just all of whatever dumb
- 3:20Speaker 3: artistic curations I came up with came from the oddity studios.
- 3:24Speaker 3: So now that still continues, it's just become more audio-related
- 3:29Speaker 3: studio than anything else.
- 3:30Speaker 5: Gotcha.
- 3:32Speaker 3: I like it.
- 3:32Speaker 5: I dig it.
- 3:33Speaker 3: So, yeah.
- 3:34Speaker 5: Well, I am broadcasting today out of Star Manor.
- 3:37Speaker 3: There you go. See, that's very fitting. And it sounds
- 3:41Speaker 3: like you're on a spaceship, really. Right. A really fancy
- 3:45Speaker 3: house on a spaceship.
- 3:48Speaker 5: I like to think of it as a bunker underground.
- 3:52Speaker 3: That's the Meltdown Studios.
- 3:54Speaker 5: Yeah. And I have a periscope and I just kind
- 3:56Speaker 5: of like peek out, you know, and check out what's
- 3:58Speaker 5: going on. The world's safe yet. And if it's safe
- 4:01Speaker 5: to come out.
- 4:02Speaker 3: That's more of what I was going with my meltdown compound.
- 4:06Speaker 3: That's more of a fort.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Lots of canned food.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Oh, I want some sort of just a walkway along
- 4:16Speaker 3: the top. Just like like any good castle. Essentially, I
- 4:19Speaker 3: just want a castle, really. And I want to have
- 4:21Speaker 3: like a turret somewhere where I can go and check
- 4:23Speaker 3: out what's going on. And then if I don't like
- 4:25Speaker 3: what's going on, I can start like sniping people from there.
- 4:28Speaker 5: Right, right. Or if somebody's trying to breach your compound.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Yeah, you dump hot oil on them, right? I mean,
- 4:33Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure this is how it works.
- 4:35Speaker 5: Wow. Or even tar.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Or nacho cheese. How about that? That's more humane.
- 4:40Speaker 5: I was going to say that.
- 4:41Speaker 3: That's more our stuff. Humane and delicious. We're going to
- 4:44Speaker 3: go with nacho cheese.
- 4:45Speaker 5: You can kind of take the chips and wipe the
- 4:48Speaker 5: outer edge of the vat, you know, the giant tub
- 4:52Speaker 5: that you just dumped over.
- 4:54Speaker 3: And you'll hear them scream, but once the screaming subsides,
- 4:58Speaker 3: they'll be like, hmm. They'll be licking their arm. It'll
- 5:02Speaker 3: all be fine in the long run.
- 5:04Speaker 5: It's a good way to drown.
- 5:06Speaker 3: In nacho cheese.
- 5:10Speaker 5: So.
- 5:12Speaker 3: How.
- 5:14Speaker 5: Have you been doing in this lockdown recently?
- 5:20Speaker 3: I've covered mine in previous, but mine's not much different
- 5:24Speaker 3: than normal. I am still sadly forced to go to
- 5:28Speaker 3: work every day, so I'm not really locked away from
- 5:31Speaker 3: humanity as much as I want to. I feel like
- 5:33Speaker 3: I've been preparing my entire life in solitude. This would
- 5:37Speaker 3: be the perfect time and be like, finally, I can
- 5:40Speaker 3: sit at home by myself and I have a reason to.
- 5:42Speaker 3: And then I, of course I've been screwed over and
- 5:45Speaker 3: I don't get to. So I, I still go to
- 5:48Speaker 3: work every day. So it's pretty much just the weekend
- 5:51Speaker 3: that then I'm like, okay, now I can go. Oh yeah.
- 5:55Speaker 3: I don't know. Watch a movie. Hell. I don't know.
- 5:59Speaker 5: No, I, I totally get that. I mean, I almost
- 6:02Speaker 5: feel like not much has changed except for not having really,
- 6:05Speaker 5: you know, work.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Well, that's what I was going to say. I was like,
- 6:10Speaker 3: you probably more than most people worked at home, I
- 6:14Speaker 3: would assume.
- 6:16Speaker 5: Yeah, now it just sucks because it would be nice
- 6:19Speaker 5: to get out every day or to go. I would
- 6:22Speaker 5: go make a reason to go to the grocery store
- 6:24Speaker 5: at least once every day or every other day and
- 6:27Speaker 5: then go to Hobby Lobby and just different places to
- 6:31Speaker 5: grab stuff. So that definitely sucks. Jess and I always...
- 6:35Speaker 5: tried going out once or twice for dinner, you know,
- 6:38Speaker 5: during the week to support restaurants even, and just to
- 6:41Speaker 5: have a nice meal and can't do that even. So again,
- 6:45Speaker 5: I feel a little more stir crazy now because even
- 6:48Speaker 5: going to the grocery store, I have to make it
- 6:50Speaker 5: like a very itemized in and out, avoid everything. Can't
- 6:54Speaker 5: leisurely check. Cause I'm one of those dudes that, you know,
- 6:57Speaker 5: I checked websites daily that, that give me updates on
- 7:00Speaker 5: new snacks and new, uh, crazy products from companies, you know, that,
- 7:05Speaker 5: that make me fatter and every. And so when I'm
- 7:09Speaker 5: walking through the grocery store, I kind of like to
- 7:11Speaker 5: check it all out and be like, Oh snap, what
- 7:13Speaker 5: the hell is that?
- 7:14Speaker 2: You know?
- 7:15Speaker 5: And now I'm like, Oh God, there's two people in
- 7:18Speaker 5: this aisle. I'm going to come back.
- 7:20Speaker 3: You know, I like that most of the places I'm
- 7:23Speaker 3: going now, I've kind of switched up lately and went, Oh,
- 7:26Speaker 3: I can go here instead. But now they've, um, they've
- 7:30Speaker 3: put a one way operation on all of their lanes.
- 7:33Speaker 3: So like I keep getting to the edge of an aisle.
- 7:36Speaker 3: I'm like, Oh look, there's what I, Oh wait, it's
- 7:38Speaker 3: the wrong way. So then I have to like loop
- 7:40Speaker 3: around the whole extra aisle and come back up the
- 7:43Speaker 3: other way. Cause I'm like, you know, there are very
- 7:45Speaker 3: few rules in this new society, but going the wrong
- 7:48Speaker 3: way in this aisle, it could be penalty of death.
- 7:50Speaker 3: I don't know. So you gotta.
- 7:52Speaker 5: Or scorn from everybody that you're passing, you know.
- 7:56Speaker 3: I kind of felt that anyway, as I initially, like
- 7:59Speaker 3: the first time I went to not just a grocery,
- 8:01Speaker 3: but a store that had other things. And I'm like,
- 8:03Speaker 3: am I supposed to feel guilty? Cause I'm, I'm going
- 8:06Speaker 3: to go look at Legos guys. I'm not going to
- 8:08Speaker 3: lie to you. I'm here mostly because I want to
- 8:11Speaker 3: go look for, for a specific, I need Legos is
- 8:14Speaker 3: what I'm saying. This is essential life survival items. And yeah, so.
- 8:20Speaker 3: that first time I was like, does everybody know, are
- 8:22Speaker 3: they all going to like band together and try to
- 8:24Speaker 3: kill me? Cause I'm not buying groceries and toilet paper.
- 8:26Speaker 5: Like, but no, I'm going to try to keep you
- 8:29Speaker 5: away from the garbage bill kids. Yeah.
- 8:31Speaker 3: See, I mean, these are important things that we need
- 8:34Speaker 3: and like, you know, when not every day you have
- 8:37Speaker 3: to wean yourself off to some extent, but every once
- 8:40Speaker 3: in a while, it's been a long time now. It's
- 8:42Speaker 3: been many and many a week, like sooner or later
- 8:45Speaker 3: we need something.
- 8:46Speaker 5: I mean, Well, I was going to say, at least Legos,
- 8:49Speaker 5: you can say, are pretty essential when you have to
- 8:51Speaker 5: stay home and work on things. And then if they say, look, sir,
- 8:55Speaker 5: that's not essential, then you can say, well, you don't
- 8:58Speaker 5: know what I'm building yet.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Oh, I'm building a post-apocalyptic world for these little people.
- 9:03Speaker 3: And I'm running. This is like a check to see
- 9:06Speaker 3: where we're headed. And I'm trying to come up with
- 9:08Speaker 3: the best operation so that we don't end up in
- 9:11Speaker 3: this horrible situation that I'm building for them.
- 9:13Speaker 5: So.
- 9:14Speaker 3: This is really important. I don't think you understand people.
- 9:19Speaker 3: This is why I'm not allowed out of the house
- 9:21Speaker 3: on a normal situation. Cause I, I will actually have
- 9:24Speaker 3: that conversation with someone probably. And they'll just be like,
- 9:27Speaker 3: can we get him locked up right now? Right.
- 9:29Speaker 5: Yeah. Or what, what does this guy do for a living?
- 9:33Speaker 3: Equally as ridiculous. So leave that alone. So other than
- 9:41Speaker 3: the occasional grocery run to, Forage for food. What else
- 9:48Speaker 3: have you been up to?
- 9:50Speaker 5: Man, oh man. Just trying to stay busy. I don't know.
- 9:56Speaker 5: With everything, you can get into a slump. And I feel,
- 10:00Speaker 5: you know, once I was kind of done work working,
- 10:04Speaker 5: you know, I have a few commissions left to do
- 10:08Speaker 5: that I've been working on recently again. But, man, I
- 10:12Speaker 5: just didn't feel like doing anything, you know, because I
- 10:14Speaker 5: was kind of like, I don't know, just all the
- 10:16Speaker 5: stressed things or just kind of wondering, you know, like
- 10:19Speaker 5: what I should even be working on or whatever. But yeah,
- 10:22Speaker 5: I'll get back to work now doing some art. I
- 10:24Speaker 5: don't have any of my certificates that I usually throw
- 10:28Speaker 5: in with originals. So I have to tell everybody like, well, sorry,
- 10:32Speaker 5: I'll get it back when I can actually go buy
- 10:35Speaker 5: the things and make the things and.
- 10:37Speaker 3: You just have to hand draw the certificates as well now. Exactly.
- 10:41Speaker 5: So everyone's prices have gone up because those take 10 hours.
- 10:45Speaker 3: I'm doing twice as much work. Sorry.
- 10:48Speaker 5: I'm making them as photorealistic as possible. Now your stupid
- 10:53Speaker 5: little drawing is $ 150 extra. Oops.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Sorry about that.
- 11:00Speaker 5: But it's been fun getting to, you know, I've been
- 11:02Speaker 5: going back to just like sketching and then, you know,
- 11:05Speaker 5: I've even been playing some video games. which I haven't
- 11:08Speaker 5: had a whole lot of time to do. And so that,
- 11:10Speaker 5: that's been fun.
- 11:11Speaker 3: That is one of those. I feel like a lot
- 11:13Speaker 3: of people get lost in that world and it's, it's
- 11:16Speaker 3: been so minimal I've ever crossed over into that, that yeah,
- 11:21Speaker 3: it's still, I have a few that I'm like, I
- 11:24Speaker 3: could load that on my computer, but I'm like, nah.
- 11:27Speaker 3: And so I, I obviously don't have that gamer drive
- 11:30Speaker 3: in me cause I just don't, I just ended up
- 11:33Speaker 3: watching a movie instead.
- 11:34Speaker 5: I gotcha. Hey man. Like again, you know, I, I,
- 11:38Speaker 5: have not been as into gaming as i was when
- 11:40Speaker 5: i was younger and um i mean i have a
- 11:43Speaker 5: you know playstation but i mean i have a ps4
- 11:45Speaker 5: but you know i don't really use it a whole
- 11:47Speaker 5: ton for games but again sometimes if i have half
- 11:50Speaker 5: an hour here half an hour there i will play
- 11:53Speaker 5: something like i mean it could be monopoly on the
- 11:57Speaker 5: place that i'm not joking.
- 11:59Speaker 3: No no i get well that's the thing i said
- 12:03Speaker 3: rarely did i cross over but there are minor times
- 12:06Speaker 3: when i got really into it and then as time
- 12:09Speaker 3: went on and i thought about it i was like
- 12:11Speaker 3: oh no it's still like me just doing what i
- 12:14Speaker 3: normally do i just found a new platform to do
- 12:16Speaker 3: it on right because the one thing that i got
- 12:19Speaker 3: way too into and spent hours and hours on of
- 12:24Speaker 3: all things and it makes most gamers cringe the sims oh.
- 12:29Speaker 5: Hey dude no uh Listen, I did not get a
- 12:32Speaker 5: whole lot of time to jump into it, but I
- 12:36Speaker 5: know Jess was getting into it for a while, so
- 12:38Speaker 5: we've got a handful of The Sims things on the PlayStation.
- 12:41Speaker 3: But it's only recently I've looked at my stupid nonsense
- 12:45Speaker 3: I'm doing now, and I'm like, how is this any different?
- 12:47Speaker 3: I just want to build a dumb little world and
- 12:49Speaker 3: have people there. It's exactly the same. This is just
- 12:53Speaker 3: a video game version, and now I'm playing with plastic,
- 12:56Speaker 3: so whatever. Whatever.
- 12:58Speaker 5: Hey, and you know, I feel like they keep advancing
- 13:01Speaker 5: on the stuff that people like about it, though, you know?
- 13:03Speaker 5: Because every time I scroll through the PlayStation sales or
- 13:09Speaker 5: the store or whatever they've got, I see things for, like,
- 13:12Speaker 5: new packages all the time. It'll be, like, The Sims
- 13:14Speaker 5: Outdoor Living or The Sims Jungle Adventure or, you know,
- 13:18Speaker 5: I don't know, The Sims High School thing. So you
- 13:20Speaker 5: get to simulate... There was one that had, like, vampires
- 13:23Speaker 5: and maybe... I think vampires and werewolves or something.
- 13:28Speaker 3: All right. Now you're sucking me back in. Damn it.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I didn't know there were monsters.
- 13:33Speaker 5: And the thing is, man, I saw it one day.
- 13:36Speaker 5: It was like maybe within the last year and it
- 13:38Speaker 5: was on sale, like on one of those, you know, uh,
- 13:41Speaker 5: like maybe a Christmas sale or just some crazy, whatever.
- 13:44Speaker 5: And so I started, I was like, wait, the sins, man.
- 13:47Speaker 5: I remember that, that game. And, uh, and I was
- 13:50Speaker 5: trying to think of something that maybe like Jess would
- 13:52Speaker 5: like to play just on our free time or whatever.
- 13:55Speaker 5: And man, it was like nine 99 for the game.
- 13:58Speaker 5: And I think the game is originally like 30 or
- 14:01Speaker 5: 40 bucks, but then, uh, then they had all these
- 14:03Speaker 5: packages too, that you could get. And some of them
- 14:05Speaker 5: were as low as like four bucks, five bucks. And, uh,
- 14:09Speaker 5: you know, originally they're nine or 10 bucks. I don't know,
- 14:12Speaker 5: but they just had a lot of options. A lot
- 14:14Speaker 5: of them. Like you could be, you can pick a
- 14:16Speaker 5: parenting one and then add all sorts of new things
- 14:19Speaker 5: for storylines that way. Or like, I don't know. It's crazy.
- 14:23Speaker 3: See, once again, I even even that initial run, I
- 14:27Speaker 3: sort of got into gaming, but I did it wrong
- 14:30Speaker 3: because I didn't play the game part of it.
- 14:33Speaker 5: I don't think that's doing it wrong. I think that
- 14:36Speaker 5: that's the way you played it.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Yeah, because I had tons of fun with it. But
- 14:40Speaker 3: like immediately, as soon as I found out you could
- 14:43Speaker 3: go online and find some sort of cheat codes. And
- 14:46Speaker 3: normally I don't care about those for any other normal game.
- 14:49Speaker 3: But this one I was just like, oh, wait, I
- 14:51Speaker 3: can give them unlimited amount of money? So then it
- 14:55Speaker 3: just became, here's all my other geeky interests. I like architecture.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Can I build them a really weird house? Okay, I
- 15:02Speaker 3: want to do that. I like junk. I like things.
- 15:05Speaker 3: How much weird junk can I accumulate? And what sort
- 15:08Speaker 3: of interior design can I go as I decide to
- 15:11Speaker 3: throw a lot of money into this fake house on
- 15:14Speaker 3: a video game? And then my deadbeat Sims didn't have
- 15:18Speaker 3: to go to work either because they were always loaded.
- 15:21Speaker 3: So like they just lounged around the house all day
- 15:24Speaker 3: while I gave them new weird wallpaper that we doctored
- 15:27Speaker 3: up and shoved into the game.
- 15:29Speaker 5: Oh, that's awesome.
- 15:31Speaker 3: It's all ridiculous.
- 15:32Speaker 5: We'll see, but it's all customizable and everything. I mean, dude,
- 15:36Speaker 5: that was one of my favorite parts of, like on
- 15:39Speaker 5: the PlayStation 3, you can't do it on the 4,
- 15:41Speaker 5: but on the last PlayStation with the wrestling game, I
- 15:47Speaker 5: would spend more time making my characters and creating entrances
- 15:52Speaker 5: and things like that than I did playing the game.
- 15:54Speaker 5: So I could spend two and three nights and I
- 15:59Speaker 5: could have a character where I've legitimately built or given
- 16:04Speaker 5: him specific 150 certain moves, but then also every aspect
- 16:09Speaker 5: of their costume, everything looked like, for instance, I made
- 16:13Speaker 5: the devil. And the devil would come down with his
- 16:18Speaker 5: entrance ramp. He would have fire and flames and all
- 16:21Speaker 5: that stuff. But then he would also have Ghost BC singing.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Because I could pick any song I wanted and just
- 16:30Speaker 5: import it after I cut it down to wherever I
- 16:34Speaker 5: wanted it to start. Man, it was ridiculous. I had
- 16:36Speaker 5: people coming down to Marilyn Manson. And I had Jesus
- 16:42Speaker 5: Christ would come down to Dio's Holy Diver. dude it
- 16:47Speaker 5: was it was so much fun but i mean i
- 16:50Speaker 5: would spend night after night making the most ridiculous characters
- 16:55Speaker 5: and make them legit as i possibly could and uh
- 17:00Speaker 5: uh yeah then i would fight every once in a
- 17:01Speaker 5: while i'd be like all right well i'm gonna use
- 17:02Speaker 5: santa claus to kick fred durst's ass.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Which is what we've all really been wanting to watch
- 17:08Speaker 3: for years now right.
- 17:12Speaker 5: Oh, man. Oh, crap. I'm so sorry. I did not
- 17:15Speaker 5: mean to bring up Fred Durst for our second podcast
- 17:17Speaker 5: in a row.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Actually, that's actually where I was going to end up
- 17:21Speaker 3: going anyway. So that's a perfect segue.
- 17:23Speaker 5: Wow.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Since we last spoke before over and you told me
- 17:29Speaker 3: all about this weird movie and I was just like,
- 17:32Speaker 3: what the hell are you talking about? This sounds made up. Well,
- 17:35Speaker 3: since then, I've watched said movie.
- 17:38Speaker 5: Yes.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 17:40Speaker 6: Yes.
- 17:41Speaker 3: I guess we should tell them if they weren't paying
- 17:43Speaker 3: attention last time we were sitting down.
- 17:46Speaker 5: Would you say that you're a fan of the movie?
- 17:51Speaker 3: That might be going a little too far.
- 17:55Speaker 5: Oh, more of a fanatic?
- 17:59Speaker 3: Ladies and gentlemen, the film is The Fanatic. And the
- 18:03Speaker 3: ridiculous tie-in is that it was directed by Mr. Fred Durst.
- 18:09Speaker 5: And written by.
- 18:10Speaker 3: You're just digging the.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Hole deeper, man.
- 18:13Speaker 5: I mean, have you seen it?
- 18:16Speaker 3: Yes. Yes, I have.
- 18:18Speaker 5: I was just going to say the dialogue could not
- 18:21Speaker 5: be any more Fred Durst.
- 18:25Speaker 3: I mean, it's been a little while, but I still
- 18:28Speaker 3: kind of feel like I'm processing it.
- 18:31Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 18:32Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 18:33Speaker 3: I just like I'm in the middle of it. I'm
- 18:36Speaker 3: watching it. I'm like, I don't know what to do
- 18:38Speaker 3: with this like everything going on i'm like i don't what.
- 18:42Speaker 5: How am i supposed to feel about this i it's
- 18:46Speaker 5: almost never clear i don't i don't think i mean
- 18:48Speaker 5: by by halfway through the movie you you kind of
- 18:53Speaker 5: care but then you also don't give a shit and
- 18:56Speaker 5: then you know by the end you're like what wait
- 19:00Speaker 5: so there's not am i is this guy good? Bad? What,
- 19:04Speaker 5: what just, you know, there was no resolution. I don't know.
- 19:06Speaker 5: The movie was a mess, but it was also, it
- 19:09Speaker 5: was a masterpiece.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Oh Lord. But you're right. Is this that thing?
- 19:17Speaker 5: That's just it, man. There were times where like, we
- 19:20Speaker 5: kept looking at each other going, Oh my God. Like
- 19:25Speaker 5: something would happen and you would just almost shit yourself. Like, no,
- 19:29Speaker 5: they did not even do that. And just, Just having
- 19:33Speaker 5: the movie start with John Travolta's painful portrayal of autism.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Or whatever it is. They don't really spell it out
- 19:46Speaker 3: in the movie. So I'm like, I don't even know
- 19:49Speaker 3: for sure if he knows. what he's going for. He
- 19:51Speaker 3: just sort of made up a thing.
- 19:53Speaker 5: And, but here's, here's the deal in the synopsis. It
- 19:56Speaker 5: says that he weaponizes his autism. That is a quote.
- 20:03Speaker 3: And I don't know if it's, accurate like no i
- 20:08Speaker 3: would say.
- 20:08Speaker 5: He's playing a very he he's definitely playing a specific
- 20:13Speaker 5: uh character that he that he made up.
- 20:15Speaker 8: He annoys like he just becomes annoying for two-thirds of
- 20:22Speaker 8: the movie and then eventually it gets sort of dangerous
- 20:25Speaker 8: but um yeah it's it's mostly just annoying through well
- 20:28Speaker 8: and it's.
- 20:29Speaker 5: Also he takes it to such like a vulnerable sort
- 20:33Speaker 5: of pathetic area, but then at the same time, uh,
- 20:36Speaker 5: almost madness, you know, like, man, I, I don't know.
- 20:40Speaker 5: It was, I would, I would almost be offended. Uh, if,
- 20:45Speaker 5: you know, cause I mean, I, I don't know, I've
- 20:47Speaker 5: met and, and have family and, you know, there's, there's
- 20:50Speaker 5: a lot of people that, that have autism that act nothing, uh,
- 20:55Speaker 5: fucking like that.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Yeah and i've brought it up on the show before
- 20:59Speaker 3: i'm related to someone who is autistic and like i'm
- 21:03Speaker 3: fascinated by it in some ways like just because now
- 21:07Speaker 3: i'm i'm there and i'm watching it and like it's
- 21:10Speaker 3: it's such an interesting weird mix of things going on
- 21:14Speaker 3: in this person's head but i feel like none of
- 21:19Speaker 3: it manifests itself in any way like john travolta's portrayal.
- 21:24Speaker 5: Well again, I feel like, you know, I feel like
- 21:27Speaker 5: he could take, you could take horror stories from, you know,
- 21:31Speaker 5: five or 10 different people's lives and mishmash it into
- 21:35Speaker 5: one character to create some sort of like monster, you know,
- 21:39Speaker 5: or some sort of maniac.
- 21:42Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 21:42Speaker 5: It was, man, it was such a baffling role. And then,
- 21:46Speaker 5: and then the dialogue, man, like some of the, some
- 21:50Speaker 5: of the stuff I try, there was one in particular
- 21:53Speaker 5: where it was like, uh the guy's name let's not
- 21:57Speaker 5: let's not leave this out uh moose played by john
- 22:00Speaker 5: travolta of course when when the name of the girl
- 22:03Speaker 5: narrating uh says moose didn't just cross a line he
- 22:07Speaker 5: fucking nuked it i was like oh man that's oh
- 22:13Speaker 5: my god but.
- 22:16Speaker 3: That's another weird aspect to it is like what what
- 22:20Speaker 3: is the point of this other part? Like we barely
- 22:23Speaker 3: see this other character, but she's narrating the entire story.
- 22:28Speaker 3: And then I'm like, she never really gets involved enough
- 22:32Speaker 3: to make it make sense that she's narrating it. Or
- 22:35Speaker 3: I don't, I don't know. Like she's just a weird character.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Cause I kept waiting for something else to come from
- 22:41Speaker 3: her and like nothing.
- 22:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:45Speaker 3: And the other, the other interesting one is the, Tevin
- 22:49Speaker 3: Sawa because we not that long ago ran into him
- 22:53Speaker 3: at a show and he really is that it's funny
- 22:56Speaker 3: he's playing a guy who's like been in a bunch
- 22:59Speaker 3: of horror movies so like when I met him at
- 23:01Speaker 3: a horror convention I'm like this is pretty true to
- 23:04Speaker 3: life what's funny is though like I don't I guess
- 23:08Speaker 3: well like how much he was involved or the character
- 23:10Speaker 3: was completely written that way but like pretty early on
- 23:15Speaker 3: you're like man this guy's kind of a dick like
- 23:19Speaker 3: As much as like eventually you start to feel sorry
- 23:21Speaker 3: for him because he's being victimized by this crazy person.
- 23:24Speaker 3: But at the same time, it's like pretty quickly. I'm like,
- 23:29Speaker 3: he seems like at first he's kind of OK. And
- 23:31Speaker 3: then like, well, he might just be a Hollywood douchebag.
- 23:34Speaker 3: And then it kind of gets like, no, he's just
- 23:36Speaker 3: kind of genuinely a dick.
- 23:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 23:39Speaker 5: Yeah. No, it becomes insane or becomes almost. impossible to
- 23:45Speaker 5: pick somebody you're like who's this movie who's the protagonist
- 23:49Speaker 5: here who's like who am i going like who am
- 23:52Speaker 5: i rooting for uh and that's the other thing i
- 23:56Speaker 5: mean are we do you ever have spoilers on here
- 23:59Speaker 5: i mean i don't want to.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Spoil we i mean as long as we throw it
- 24:02Speaker 3: out there because i don't I don't know that I'm
- 24:05Speaker 3: going to want to do an entire episode about it
- 24:07Speaker 3: anytime soon. So like, I feel like we'll probably address
- 24:11Speaker 3: all we need to for, for quite a while. So yeah,
- 24:14Speaker 3: we'll just throw out the spoiler alert right now. If
- 24:17Speaker 3: you haven't seen the fanatic, you can stop listening for
- 24:20Speaker 3: a few minutes or pause it and go watch it.
- 24:23Speaker 3: And we're sorry.
- 24:26Speaker 5: Or you're welcome.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Or you're welcome. Whichever you feel or both really kind
- 24:31Speaker 3: of both. I landed on both. I'm glad I've seen it,
- 24:35Speaker 3: but what the fuck?
- 24:37Speaker 5: I'm definitely, definitely on both because, uh, even, you know,
- 24:41Speaker 5: I watched it two times in the first day that
- 24:43Speaker 5: I rented it. And, uh, uh, Jess even made a
- 24:46Speaker 5: joke about how like, well, okay, don't rent it anymore
- 24:49Speaker 5: because you already know you're going to buy it. I'm like,
- 24:52Speaker 5: damn it. I probably will. Uh, but yeah, it's okay.
- 24:58Speaker 5: So spoiler alert, uh, the ending man, like, he's not
- 25:04Speaker 5: only has he gotten away with stabbing and victimizing Hollywood,
- 25:11Speaker 5: you know, an actor, but then he murdered a girl,
- 25:16Speaker 5: a woman that worked for the actor. And then the
- 25:21Speaker 5: actor is now, I'm sorry, being arrested or framed for
- 25:24Speaker 5: the murder. And then he just goes and he's got it.
- 25:26Speaker 5: He was stabbed in the eye and he's okay. And
- 25:29Speaker 5: he's just walking down. the street like nothing ever happened
- 25:33Speaker 5: like again the wrap up was baffling.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Like the final act like basically this the prisoner part
- 25:43Speaker 3: of it is its own level of weird but like
- 25:46Speaker 3: I kind of just assumed that's where it would wrap
- 25:49Speaker 3: up and like he'd get killed or whatever and that
- 25:51Speaker 3: would be the end of the movie it's that extra
- 25:53Speaker 3: like five to ten minute tagged on at the end
- 25:55Speaker 3: there that you're just.
- 25:56Speaker 5: Like yes if they would have If they would have
- 26:00Speaker 5: left him stabbed in the eye with a screwdriver, I think,
- 26:04Speaker 5: I believe. If they would have just left him stabbed
- 26:09Speaker 5: through the eye into the brain, that movie could have finished.
- 26:14Speaker 5: They could have wrapped it up with the police just
- 26:17Speaker 5: at the scene. You know what I mean? You don't
- 26:19Speaker 5: even have to know. But they made it look like, okay,
- 26:22Speaker 5: not only did he not die, he's totally fine. He's
- 26:26Speaker 5: walking down Hollywood and people are thinking he's Michael Myers.
- 26:31Speaker 5: And now he turns out A-OK. You know, he just
- 26:34Speaker 5: has one eye.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Well, and even more ridiculous is like then with like
- 26:40Speaker 3: no real evidence, they're arresting the guy who was just victimized.
- 26:45Speaker 5: Yes.
- 26:45Speaker 3: And they're now going to arrest him for the murder
- 26:49Speaker 3: of this other person, which I'm like, feel like any
- 26:52Speaker 3: amount of work by any detective or anyone doing any
- 26:56Speaker 3: lab work could immediately go no no obviously this is
- 26:59Speaker 3: not him like.
- 27:00Speaker 5: Well and even just the car even just the car
- 27:03Speaker 5: ride to jail or to the police station would bring
- 27:08Speaker 5: about wait i'm sorry what just happened from who a
- 27:11Speaker 5: guy that did what a deranged and then the entire
- 27:14Speaker 5: investigation would have taken over it would like this dude
- 27:17Speaker 5: is not hard to find. So everyone on.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Hollywood Boulevard knows who this guy is.
- 27:23Speaker 5: Yes. To think that he just got away, Scott free,
- 27:26Speaker 5: like the girl wrapped it up in a way that, well,
- 27:30Speaker 5: it was a learning moment for him. And now he's
- 27:33Speaker 5: just got to deal with his one eye. And I'm like, wait, wait, wait, no, no, no, no, no.
- 27:36Speaker 5: This was not just a learning moment. What are you
- 27:38Speaker 5: talking about? Like he, he, he, kidnapped somebody, held them,
- 27:44Speaker 5: assaulted them, killed the maid, and then he got away scot-free.
- 27:51Speaker 5: It made no sense whatsoever. If the movie wasn't painfully
- 27:57Speaker 5: all over the place and didn't make a lot of
- 27:59Speaker 5: sense before, the wrap-up just destroyed it. I would love
- 28:05Speaker 5: to hear... I did watch a Q & A because
- 28:09Speaker 5: I had to. I found it on YouTube. There's a
- 28:11Speaker 5: Q & A with John Travolta and Fred Durst on stage.
- 28:15Speaker 5: How do you explain yourself? Yeah, I really wish that
- 28:22Speaker 5: somebody would have addressed the ending, but nobody did.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Well, again, those Q & As usually have a lot
- 28:29Speaker 3: of really dumb questions, and you don't get to the
- 28:32Speaker 3: stuff you really want to know.
- 28:34Speaker 5: You know, I will say, I will say, you've learned
- 28:38Speaker 5: that John Travolta has dealt with some crazy shit because
- 28:42Speaker 5: he had he had two stories about crazy fans um
- 28:46Speaker 5: when somebody asked him and these are just two that
- 28:48Speaker 5: he just right off the top of his head he's
- 28:50Speaker 5: like well you know there was the the girl that
- 28:52Speaker 5: was in my closet um and he's like i opened
- 28:56Speaker 5: up my closet and there she was and it's like
- 28:58Speaker 5: you know she just wanted an autograph said she was
- 29:02Speaker 5: a huge fan and it's like oh shit but then
- 29:06Speaker 5: He said that there was one time he sat down
- 29:08Speaker 5: at the table for dinner with his family and there
- 29:11Speaker 5: was just an extra person there. And he's like, oh,
- 29:16Speaker 5: I'm sorry. I don't think we've met. And the guy
- 29:19Speaker 5: was like, yeah, no, I'm a huge fan. My name
- 29:21Speaker 5: is so-and-so or whatever. And John Travolta said, I guess
- 29:25Speaker 5: that they proceeded to have dinner with this random guy
- 29:30Speaker 5: that just walked or made his way into the house,
- 29:33Speaker 5: you know, like.
- 29:35Speaker 3: Was this like in recent years, like with Kelly or
- 29:38Speaker 3: like this is with his current? family? At least that
- 29:41Speaker 3: time frame?
- 29:42Speaker 5: Oh, man. You know, I don't want to go back
- 29:47Speaker 5: and rewatch this Q & A, but I will. I
- 29:51Speaker 5: don't remember the specifics, and I might even be wrong.
- 29:53Speaker 5: Maybe he kicked the guy out, but I want to
- 29:55Speaker 5: say that they ate dinner together and then he made
- 29:57Speaker 5: the guy leave.
- 29:59Speaker 9: I mean.
- 30:00Speaker 3: that's the thing. Like the more, as you said that,
- 30:02Speaker 3: I was like, well, yeah, I guess that doesn't surprise
- 30:04Speaker 3: me just because for, for two main reasons, like now
- 30:08Speaker 3: we all kind of, you know, his current incarnation is like, he's,
- 30:13Speaker 3: he's a big name in the industry still, but he's
- 30:16Speaker 3: not as well respected as a lot of actors out there.
- 30:20Speaker 5: Oh no, no.
- 30:21Speaker 3: Yeah. But he's also like his, his look now is
- 30:24Speaker 3: very weird and taken advantage of in this movie perhaps.
- 30:27Speaker 3: But like, he's just, he gets called in for weird,
- 30:30Speaker 3: character actor kind of roles now but going back to
- 30:33Speaker 3: the 70s and again this comes from my uh spending
- 30:37Speaker 3: way too many hours watching me tv but like a
- 30:40Speaker 3: week or two ago i was on a run of
- 30:42Speaker 3: the the welcome back cotter was on and i was
- 30:44Speaker 3: just like yeah i forgot like he was mainstream like
- 30:49Speaker 3: teen heartthrob like when you look at him, I'm like, yeah, well,
- 30:53Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, before that, I mean, even as, as like, yeah,
- 30:57Speaker 3: welcome back Cotter, then going into Greece and like all
- 31:00Speaker 3: of that stuff. It's like, I can't imagine a time
- 31:03Speaker 3: in that era when like there weren't girls climbing up
- 31:07Speaker 3: the trellis to get to his like balcony or something,
- 31:11Speaker 3: you know, like girls in general get crazy about that
- 31:14Speaker 3: kind of fandom and like really do like, do weird
- 31:18Speaker 3: crazy stuff so like the closet doesn't surprise me again
- 31:21Speaker 3: that probably happened more times than he can count back
- 31:24Speaker 3: in the.
- 31:24Speaker 5: 70s that's why from what I remember it sounded like
- 31:28Speaker 5: he had more stories but those were just like two
- 31:31Speaker 5: that he could think of that were particularly alarming or
- 31:34Speaker 5: more like you know memorable and I was just like
- 31:37Speaker 5: god damn man I couldn't I just could not imagine
- 31:41Speaker 5: you know like even, even being like just a regular
- 31:44Speaker 5: ass person opening up any, even opening up your apartment
- 31:49Speaker 5: door and finding somebody in your apartment would be absolutely
- 31:54Speaker 5: unnerving and fucking terrifying. Wait, can I cuss?
- 31:58Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 31:58Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
- 31:59Speaker 5: Okay. Okay.
- 31:59Speaker 3: Well, and that's, that's, that's the other thing I was
- 32:02Speaker 3: going to say. The other part of it of not
- 32:04Speaker 3: only was he a huge star and heartthrob kind of
- 32:07Speaker 3: version of, but on top of that, he's been around
- 32:10Speaker 3: as long as he has, because if you go back
- 32:13Speaker 3: that far, like people could kind of do anything. Like
- 32:17Speaker 3: if you go back and again, and I don't know, I,
- 32:20Speaker 3: I was like, I re they recently did like a
- 32:25Speaker 3: TV special of, you know, most of what's on TV
- 32:27Speaker 3: now is just murder documentary kind of stuff. So like,
- 32:31Speaker 3: but they didn't want to, they did one on network.
- 32:34Speaker 3: That was like a recap of, of the Rebecca Schaefer story.
- 32:37Speaker 3: And that like, Killed me. Like back when that happened,
- 32:39Speaker 3: like I was not prepared for that, but like, that
- 32:42Speaker 3: was one of those stories that like, this was like
- 32:46Speaker 3: late eighties. And like, still at that point, like this
- 32:50Speaker 3: dude just like gave somebody some money. Like this was
- 32:54Speaker 3: somebody on like a network TV show. Like they were
- 32:56Speaker 3: not a list, but they were a well-known person more.
- 33:00Speaker 5: Or less household name ish.
- 33:02Speaker 3: All it took was slipping somebody some money and they
- 33:05Speaker 3: gave him her home address and And he showed up
- 33:09Speaker 3: on her doorstep.
- 33:10Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 33:11Speaker 3: I'm like, it's something like, and that was still like
- 33:14Speaker 3: the eighties. And like, I guess after that is when
- 33:16Speaker 3: they really started putting into effect some sort of legal
- 33:20Speaker 3: steps that they could take to keep people out. So
- 33:22Speaker 3: like now I feel like not that people haven't found
- 33:25Speaker 3: new and innovative ways to like be crazy and end
- 33:28Speaker 3: up on somebody's property, but like now at least there's
- 33:32Speaker 3: steps being taken to keep that from happening where like,
- 33:35Speaker 3: 70s and 80s, like, it was a free-for-all. Like, you
- 33:37Speaker 3: could just go get one of those maps to the
- 33:40Speaker 3: stars' homes and go stand outside of their house.
- 33:43Speaker 6: Well, yeah, yeah.
- 33:44Speaker 5: I mean, that's one of those things that just evolves.
- 33:47Speaker 5: I mean, look, you could look at the same, or
- 33:50Speaker 5: at flying the same way. You could look at, you know,
- 33:53Speaker 5: even riding in cars, you know, like, they didn't mandate
- 33:57Speaker 5: seatbelts until, like, what, 90s or something like that. Or
- 34:02Speaker 5: the 80s. It was something ridiculous. It was way too late.
- 34:07Speaker 5: Same with... I remember flying in airplanes a lot when
- 34:14Speaker 5: I was younger and they all had ashtrays.
- 34:18Speaker 3: That was up until recently.
- 34:19Speaker 5: That's what I mean.
- 34:22Speaker 3: Through the 90s, I think. Yeah, that's what I meant.
- 34:26Speaker 5: That's when I was last a kid.
- 34:29Speaker 3: I'm old. Again, to perspective-wise and how wrong even the
- 34:35Speaker 3: way people look at these things are, if I remember
- 34:38Speaker 3: back to the seatbelt thing, a lot of the car
- 34:41Speaker 3: manufacturers didn't want to put seatbelts in because it made
- 34:46Speaker 3: their cars seem unsafe. So they, for several years in
- 34:50Speaker 3: the crossover, they were fighting it because they didn't want
- 34:53Speaker 3: it to seem like, well, obviously you need a seatbelt
- 34:56Speaker 3: in this car because it's going to kill you. Whereas
- 34:58Speaker 3: if you just blissfully didn't have one, this car must
- 35:01Speaker 3: be so safe and easy to ride around in and
- 35:04Speaker 3: not kill you.
- 35:05Speaker 5: Right, right. Kind of like the idea that you don't
- 35:07Speaker 5: need a seatbelt in the back of like a taxi
- 35:09Speaker 5: or something. Yeah.
- 35:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 35:12Speaker 5: It's like, well, no, he's a professional.
- 35:14Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 35:15Speaker 5: Yeah he knows how to drive.
- 35:18Speaker 3: So yeah it is one of those things that you
- 35:21Speaker 3: know you you just look back a few years and
- 35:23Speaker 3: things are like wait how did what how did we
- 35:26Speaker 3: let this happen.
- 35:27Speaker 5: No oh dude of course have you uh have you
- 35:30Speaker 5: seen what is it um it was on it's on
- 35:32Speaker 5: shutter it's called cursed films.
- 35:35Speaker 3: No it's uh i'm already intrigued.
- 35:38Speaker 5: It's it's pretty new um but it's one of those
- 35:41Speaker 5: deals where they tackle five different films over five episodes.
- 35:45Speaker 5: And the first three are interesting, but they almost leave
- 35:50Speaker 5: you like, well, they left us kind of frustrated because,
- 35:53Speaker 5: you know, like in the episode, for instance, when they're
- 35:56Speaker 5: talking about the exorcist, there are, you know, the entire
- 36:01Speaker 5: episode is about the exorcist, the exorcist, the movie, but
- 36:04Speaker 5: then they start bringing in exorcists. Okay. And they start
- 36:08Speaker 5: like interviewing them about like, the past demonology. And this
- 36:13Speaker 5: is what we do in exorcism. And then they started
- 36:15Speaker 5: showing these quote unquote exorcists performing and doing their own like,
- 36:20Speaker 5: you know, spiritual shit. And I'm like, okay, wait a minute,
- 36:22Speaker 5: wait a minute. Like, can we get back to the movie?
- 36:24Speaker 5: Can we go back? Like, are you done with, with
- 36:27Speaker 5: all the shit that we could talk about from the film?
- 36:29Speaker 3: Yeah. You kind of need to make up your mind.
- 36:31Speaker 3: It's like, are you going to do a behind the
- 36:33Speaker 3: scenes version of the movie or just a look at
- 36:35Speaker 3: exorcisms in the real world?
- 36:37Speaker 5: Like that is exactly what the first three episodes felt
- 36:40Speaker 5: like was that they didn't really, I don't, it was
- 36:43Speaker 5: almost like they didn't have enough. Okay. One of the
- 36:46Speaker 5: poltergeists was good, but then, uh, uh, even then they,
- 36:51Speaker 5: they start to talk to like mediums and things like that,
- 36:54Speaker 5: which got a little annoying, but then do when it
- 36:56Speaker 5: got to the movie, the omens, that was the most,
- 37:00Speaker 5: that was the most upsetting because I love the old man.
- 37:04Speaker 5: Like I own the original. It was one of those
- 37:07Speaker 5: movies I saw when I was young and, and it
- 37:09Speaker 5: just kind of always, you know, freaked me out a bit.
- 37:11Speaker 5: But again, it was, I wanted to hear, I was like,
- 37:14Speaker 5: Oh shit. You know, I mean, I remember hearing about
- 37:17Speaker 5: a bad thing that happened or one or two things
- 37:19Speaker 5: that were like, Oh shit. But I wanted to see
- 37:21Speaker 5: this episode and man, the first five, seven minutes, you're like,
- 37:25Speaker 5: maybe even first five, 10 minutes. You're like, dude, this
- 37:29Speaker 5: is awesome. And then the last, like, I don't remember
- 37:34Speaker 5: how long each episode is, but the last 80% of
- 37:37Speaker 5: the episode is just, I don't know, talking about like
- 37:41Speaker 5: bad luck and superstition and in general, you know, and
- 37:45Speaker 5: I'm like, wait a minute, why are we watching this?
- 37:47Speaker 5: And multiple times we looked at each other, like, what
- 37:50Speaker 5: is happening here?
- 37:51Speaker 3: Like, are we done talking?
- 37:54Speaker 5: Yeah. But then now I will say the final two
- 37:57Speaker 5: episodes though, they talk about the, this is the whole
- 38:00Speaker 5: reason I'm even bringing this up is that they talk
- 38:02Speaker 5: about the, you know, the movie, the crow and then
- 38:04Speaker 5: the twilight zone. And they talk about how there were
- 38:09Speaker 5: basically no rules when it came to filmmaking, like when
- 38:12Speaker 5: the twilight zone was being made and how, I mean, dude, they,
- 38:15Speaker 5: they were breaking laws. They were putting explosives up next
- 38:18Speaker 5: to things without checking this or worried about safety. And
- 38:21Speaker 5: they didn't care. Like, they would film at this hour,
- 38:24Speaker 5: even if they couldn't because of this and that. And
- 38:26Speaker 5: I mean, dude, there were just no rules, you know?
- 38:29Speaker 3: And that to me wasn't that long ago, especially the crow.
- 38:33Speaker 3: Like I went and saw the crow in the theater.
- 38:36Speaker 3: It wasn't that long ago, but yet still didn't have
- 38:40Speaker 3: like good gun safety on set.
- 38:42Speaker 5: Like, well, and even then, man, when they explain how
- 38:46Speaker 5: it was like, they, they have an actual, you know,
- 38:49Speaker 5: they break it down and show you exactly this was
- 38:52Speaker 5: the chain of events. This is how it happened. This
- 38:53Speaker 5: is what killed him.
- 38:54Speaker 3: It wasn't anyone's fault, but it is like a ridiculous,
- 38:59Speaker 3: it is almost the final destination level of chain of
- 39:02Speaker 3: events that like led to this happening.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:06Speaker 5: And it's something that nowadays with the regulations that you're talking,
- 39:09Speaker 5: I mean, yeah. Even in the last 25 years, you know,
- 39:12Speaker 5: like nowadays with regulations being the way they are, Do
- 39:16Speaker 5: you remember hearing horror stories? I don't know if this
- 39:18Speaker 5: is just an internet thing, but how many animals were
- 39:22Speaker 5: killed while making like Milo and Otis or some.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Show those cats, those cats, the dog might've made it.
- 39:29Speaker 3: I don't know if they just had the one dog,
- 39:31Speaker 3: but I heard the cats. It's a good thing. A
- 39:33Speaker 3: lot of kitties look like that cat. Cause they went
- 39:36Speaker 3: through a lot of those cats is the worst story.
- 39:40Speaker 5: Again, man, like even hearing that it's like, you've got
- 39:43Speaker 5: to be kidding. Like they can never do that now.
- 39:46Speaker 5: I mean, you hear about them putting a dog in
- 39:48Speaker 5: jeopardy by putting them over water. And the director is
- 39:51Speaker 5: like blacklisted from Hollywood.
- 39:54Speaker 3: You know, like, and again, this wasn't that long ago.
- 39:58Speaker 3: I remember coming down.
- 40:00Speaker 5: I'm saying that. Yeah. You, you really, I mean, people,
- 40:04Speaker 5: I just guess got away with whatever they wanted, but
- 40:07Speaker 5: you know, over time as things work, you know, or
- 40:10Speaker 5: as as what happens with everything uh over time regulations
- 40:13Speaker 5: have to happen i mean you remember dude the internet
- 40:16Speaker 5: come on we you and i saw the birth of
- 40:18Speaker 5: the internet's boom and i mean back when it first
- 40:21Speaker 5: started holy crap you know what i mean.
- 40:24Speaker 3: Like i mean i don't know are there any rules.
- 40:27Speaker 5: Now i still feel like we still.
- 40:29Speaker 3: Haven't ever really figured out a way and then to
- 40:33Speaker 3: some extent i think we need that. I mean, there
- 40:36Speaker 3: needs to be some basic hard lines that you can't cross,
- 40:40Speaker 3: but like there is something kind of impressive and amazing
- 40:45Speaker 3: about the weird world that the internet has created. That
- 40:48Speaker 3: is just limitless and endless and, and so many people
- 40:53Speaker 3: out there that you can connect with or they can
- 40:56Speaker 3: create whatever the hell they want and throw it out there.
- 40:58Speaker 3: And granted, many lines are crossed along the way and
- 41:01Speaker 3: people are horrible in the process, but, I think the perspective,
- 41:05Speaker 3: you know, just looking at like the, the limitless things
- 41:08Speaker 3: that you can do is still kind of amazing to me.
- 41:11Speaker 5: Oh, it's, it's dude, it's incredible, man. I mean, I
- 41:14Speaker 5: can't even imagine a world without it, you know, especially
- 41:17Speaker 5: even just dude with every profession, but God, I think about,
- 41:23Speaker 5: you know, even just art when I'm, when I'm looking
- 41:27Speaker 5: up reference images, I mean, my whole life, dude, I
- 41:29Speaker 5: was going through, I still have stacks of magazines and
- 41:33Speaker 5: books I've collected because they've got reference images, you know,
- 41:37Speaker 5: and things that I'm like, Oh, I'll come back for
- 41:40Speaker 5: that one day. Or, you know, because you couldn't just
- 41:44Speaker 5: Google something. You couldn't just find a treasure trove of
- 41:49Speaker 5: like every screen capped moment from a movie. You know
- 41:53Speaker 5: what I mean?
- 41:53Speaker 3: Like, and, and, And we adjust, I guess, pretty damn
- 41:57Speaker 3: quickly because now I'm the opposite. Now it frustrates the
- 42:01Speaker 3: hell out of me when people are just clueless about things.
- 42:06Speaker 3: And I'm like, on a daily basis, I have people
- 42:09Speaker 3: constantly asking like, directions to where a thing is and like, what, what,
- 42:15Speaker 3: what area is that in? And I'm like, in the
- 42:18Speaker 3: time you've been fumbling over this question, I could have
- 42:21Speaker 3: grabbed my phone and looked it up and been staring
- 42:23Speaker 3: at a picture of where you're trying to go. Like,
- 42:25Speaker 3: how do you not have Google maps? How do you
- 42:28Speaker 3: not have something on your phone? Like there's a handful
- 42:31Speaker 3: of people in the world that don't have a smartphone
- 42:33Speaker 3: at this point. So assuming you're one of those people,
- 42:36Speaker 3: shut up and just look it up on your phone. Like,
- 42:38Speaker 3: why are you constantly wandering around clueless still? I don't know.
- 42:42Speaker 3: I know that, that annoys the hell out of me now.
- 42:45Speaker 3: I'm like, there's no excuse for you to be as
- 42:46Speaker 3: ignorant as you are.
- 42:47Speaker 5: Well, but that's just it, man. We, we live in
- 42:49Speaker 5: the smartest time ever. And we, we, yet we still
- 42:52Speaker 5: have to explain to people that no, no, no, the
- 42:55Speaker 5: earth is round. Y'all don't like, come on. Like, are
- 42:59Speaker 5: we really having this discussion right now? There are so
- 43:03Speaker 5: many other things that we are, that we have never discovered.
- 43:06Speaker 5: that is like, that's like, damn it. The sky is blue.
- 43:09Speaker 5: You guys quit it.
- 43:11Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 43:12Speaker 3: There's always somebody that's gonna, I think just to be difficult,
- 43:15Speaker 3: just to be different. They're going to like, I'm going
- 43:18Speaker 3: to go the other direction with this thought. Like a
- 43:21Speaker 3: thousand dollars.
- 43:22Speaker 5: A thousand dollars says it started as a joke. And
- 43:25Speaker 5: then just like the invade area 51, it became its own.
- 43:30Speaker 5: Like everyone's like, yeah, yeah, it is. And then they
- 43:33Speaker 5: became like part of a club and, You know, and
- 43:35Speaker 5: now they're all just kind of like laughing on the inside. Like, yes, yes.
- 43:39Speaker 5: They're talking about us on the news.
- 43:42Speaker 3: Or you can take it to the highest level and
- 43:44Speaker 3: just create your own religion.
- 43:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 43:47Speaker 3: Because that's one of my favorite. And I don't again,
- 43:50Speaker 3: I've never dug into it. sort of tying back to
- 43:53Speaker 3: a previous celebrity we were talking about.
- 43:55Speaker 5: I was just going to say, one of those, one.
- 43:59Speaker 3: Of those, one of the stories I heard was just
- 44:02Speaker 3: years ago that like the entirety of that first Dianetics
- 44:07Speaker 3: book was like a drunken joke one night between these guys.
- 44:11Speaker 3: It's just like, and they came up and like, then
- 44:14Speaker 3: next thing you know, everybody's like printing up massive amount
- 44:17Speaker 3: of copies and it becomes this bestseller. And then people
- 44:20Speaker 3: are like really starting to take all this seriously. And like,
- 44:24Speaker 3: at that point, if you were the author, would you
- 44:27Speaker 3: tell anybody or would you just be like, suckers, keep
- 44:30Speaker 3: cashing those checks?
- 44:32Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 44:33Speaker 5: Well, that, that, that very, that same author was quoted
- 44:37Speaker 5: as saying in, in like college or whatever, that, that,
- 44:40Speaker 5: you know, if, uh, if you create a religion, that's
- 44:44Speaker 5: where the real money is. And then, yeah, he went
- 44:48Speaker 5: on to write, you know, a bunch of sci-fi, a
- 44:51Speaker 5: bunch of, you know, books that did pretty well. And
- 44:53Speaker 5: then went ahead and wrote, you know, himself a religion.
- 44:56Speaker 5: And yeah. Uh, I mean, but that, that's just it, man.
- 45:00Speaker 5: But like same with conspiracy theories, if you have a
- 45:04Speaker 5: good mind, if you have a great, you know, creative, uh,
- 45:07Speaker 5: or creativity, uh, I don't know, almost like somebody like
- 45:10Speaker 5: Stephen King, you know, grab somebody like him and say, okay, uh,
- 45:15Speaker 5: how would this have been a conspiracy?
- 45:17Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 45:18Speaker 5: Like, like make a conspiracy out of, you know, this
- 45:20Speaker 5: particular occasion.
- 45:22Speaker 9: Oh man.
- 45:23Speaker 3: I went the opposite direction. I was suddenly like, oh man,
- 45:25Speaker 3: can we make up like a horror religion? Cause like,
- 45:28Speaker 3: I know a lot of people who would be into
- 45:30Speaker 3: that idea. That's just it.
- 45:32Speaker 5: If you, if you do, if Stephen King were to
- 45:34Speaker 5: write a book about a religion based on horror, like,
- 45:38Speaker 5: You know what I mean? You know that he would
- 45:40Speaker 5: come up with something that was convincing enough to where
- 45:42Speaker 5: you'd be like, oh, I guess I can see why
- 45:44Speaker 5: they believed it.
- 45:45Speaker 3: Can we come up with something that like the chosen one,
- 45:49Speaker 3: the one we all, you know... bow down to is
- 45:52Speaker 3: is hellraiser i mean i just want pinhead at the
- 45:55Speaker 3: center we can get doug bradley on board he's a
- 45:57Speaker 3: cool dude so i really feel like he's that's a
- 46:01Speaker 3: very religious image right there and.
- 46:03Speaker 5: Yeah and clive barker's still alive he could.
- 46:05Speaker 3: Help yeah yeah he's definitely the kind of person who
- 46:07Speaker 3: could come up with that stuff i mean.
- 46:08Speaker 5: Dude all alone like yeah that's what i mean he's
- 46:11Speaker 5: written books i'm like Like that's the thing. All it
- 46:16Speaker 5: takes is a creative mind and a drive. And man,
- 46:19Speaker 5: you can really come up with some convincing and some
- 46:21Speaker 5: really engaging stuff, you know, things that you could believe
- 46:26Speaker 5: in and go. But then you'd have to step back
- 46:28Speaker 5: and go, oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I just
- 46:29Speaker 5: made all that shit up.
- 46:31Speaker 3: Do you or do you then start passing the collection
- 46:34Speaker 3: plate around?
- 46:35Speaker 5: Exactly, though. Exactly. And then you're tax exempt. You've got
- 46:40Speaker 5: all sorts of grants. And yeah, dude.
- 46:45Speaker 3: So what we're saying is we need to get on this.
- 46:48Speaker 5: Yes, yeah. What we're saying is horror, religion, send us notes.
- 46:55Speaker 7: Go.
- 46:56Speaker 5: Run with it.
- 46:57Speaker 3: I think we also have somebody who can probably do
- 46:59Speaker 3: all the really interesting and intricate illustrations for this book
- 47:04Speaker 3: that we're creating.
- 47:05Speaker 5: Ah, yes.
- 47:06Speaker 3: I feel like we know somebody who could probably come
- 47:09Speaker 3: up with some horror images. I'm not going to name
- 47:12Speaker 3: any names, but, you know.
- 47:13Speaker 5: But no, man, that kind of stuff is, I always
- 47:18Speaker 5: think about it, man. Whenever I read, like, you know,
- 47:20Speaker 5: especially with this current situation, COVID and all that kind of,
- 47:23Speaker 5: you know, people like, oh, it's 5G towers. I'm like, oh, man.
- 47:27Speaker 5: And then I just, suddenly I'm like, all right, well,
- 47:30Speaker 5: how'd you get there, man? I just want to read
- 47:32Speaker 5: it because I'm like, you guys are fucking out of
- 47:35Speaker 5: your minds.
- 47:36Speaker 3: Oh, no, seriously. Like, when it first, it was like
- 47:39Speaker 3: a week and a half in. And I somehow I
- 47:42Speaker 3: think somebody posted it. Some other weirdo on our friends
- 47:45Speaker 3: list posted it on Facebook and was like, no, really, guys,
- 47:48Speaker 3: check this out. And like, I think I was just
- 47:50Speaker 3: bored and like about to go to sleep. And I
- 47:53Speaker 3: clicked on it was like, all right, let's see what
- 47:54Speaker 3: the hell this is. And like they launched into this
- 47:57Speaker 3: conspiracy theory that was, oh, my God, like it like
- 48:02Speaker 3: the 5G tower was just part of it. Like it
- 48:05Speaker 3: was so deep. and was so backing it up like
- 48:11Speaker 3: everything was scientifically proven with things like a virus can't
- 48:18Speaker 3: mutate from an animal to a person and create a
- 48:22Speaker 3: new virus. I'm like, no, that's exactly what they do.
- 48:25Speaker 3: That's the whole point of where these viruses come from,
- 48:27Speaker 3: you morons. But like they went into it and they
- 48:30Speaker 3: were pulling old weird science clips that were like supposed
- 48:34Speaker 3: to back it up. I'm like, no, you're just wrong.
- 48:37Speaker 3: And then they got to the 5G towers and they
- 48:39Speaker 3: had maps all over the world of these 5G towers.
- 48:42Speaker 3: And they spent so much time on this thing to
- 48:45Speaker 3: the point that I really did end up falling asleep.
- 48:48Speaker 3: And I woke up like I don't know how long later.
- 48:50Speaker 5: And it was still on.
- 48:51Speaker 3: I don't know how long this YouTube video rambled, but
- 48:54Speaker 3: I was just like, oh my God, stop. I'm going
- 48:57Speaker 3: to sleep now. I was like, this is ridiculous. I
- 49:01Speaker 3: like a good conspiracy theory, but that one was just like,
- 49:03Speaker 3: you are just out of your mind. Stop talking.
- 49:06Speaker 5: Well, that's the thing. Conspiracy theories are kind of fun,
- 49:09Speaker 5: but they're also nine times out of 10, that's all
- 49:12Speaker 5: they are. They're, they're, uh, somebody had a, a funny idea.
- 49:17Speaker 5: It's like memes, you know, there's memes that are great
- 49:19Speaker 5: jokes and you're like, well, that's a really good joke.
- 49:21Speaker 5: And then it's like, okay, well, somebody came up with that.
- 49:23Speaker 5: It's a good joke. Uh, just like, just like writers
- 49:25Speaker 5: in the first shows and just like comedians that put
- 49:28Speaker 5: together things or singers that, that write epic songs. I mean,
- 49:32Speaker 5: it takes a mind to think of a, of a
- 49:34Speaker 5: situation and whatever, but oh my God, like it also
- 49:37Speaker 5: just do, do the math. Like, Like, have you ever
- 49:40Speaker 5: heard the conspiracy theory that birds are like drones by
- 49:43Speaker 5: the government or some shit?
- 49:45Speaker 3: Like all birds?
- 49:46Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 49:48Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 49:48Speaker 5: That's the thing. I'm like, y'all have seen documentaries and
- 49:53Speaker 5: nature shows since you were little. You think you've been
- 49:56Speaker 5: shit on by birds that were like so, so advanced. Like,
- 50:01Speaker 5: first of all, they can't even make anything that doesn't
- 50:04Speaker 5: clink and clank around. Like, ugh.
- 50:08Speaker 3: What about that parakeet I had when I was a kid?
- 50:10Speaker 3: Was it just a spy camera in my room all day?
- 50:13Speaker 5: Absolutely, dude. These are all written by people. They're stoner
- 50:18Speaker 5: thoughts or they're drunk moments that then take on a, ooh,
- 50:23Speaker 5: what if? And then suddenly you say it to a
- 50:25Speaker 5: group of people and they are legitimately dumb enough. I mean,
- 50:28Speaker 5: they're the same people that are going to, you know, whatever,
- 50:31Speaker 5: drink disinfectant or whatever it is.
- 50:34Speaker 3: Just inject it in yourself. You'll be fine.
- 50:37Speaker 5: Exactly. They're the same people that do that. Those are
- 50:39Speaker 5: going to be the people that run with the thing
- 50:41Speaker 5: and go, bruh, the earth is flat, but also birds
- 50:46Speaker 5: are this and things are that.
- 50:47Speaker 3: It's like, okay that's the other end of the that's
- 50:51Speaker 3: the bad end of the internet spectrum is because i
- 50:54Speaker 3: feel like before we just had these little wingnuts in
- 50:56Speaker 3: their basements or and they were all separated and you
- 50:59Speaker 3: know no they didn't know the other ones were out
- 51:01Speaker 3: there but now the internet has connected every psychopath on
- 51:05Speaker 3: the planet absolutely like they just uh they just rant
- 51:10Speaker 3: and ramble and then they join together and get more
- 51:13Speaker 3: people behind them. And it gets out of control now
- 51:15Speaker 3: that we didn't used to have to worry about that
- 51:17Speaker 3: kind of stuff, but we're connected to everyone now.
- 51:22Speaker 5: Well, it also empowers every, I mean, you know, which
- 51:24Speaker 5: is a good thing too, is the double-edged sword. You know,
- 51:27Speaker 5: you get the empowerment that you need by finding people
- 51:30Speaker 5: that go through the same things you go through or
- 51:32Speaker 5: questions to, you know, or answers to questions that you've
- 51:34Speaker 5: been having, but then also suddenly, you know, the, the
- 51:37Speaker 5: guy that you're like, man, I thought I noticed one
- 51:40Speaker 5: dude who's into this and that suddenly there's a, yeah,
- 51:43Speaker 5: there's a group of a thousand, 2000 of them that
- 51:46Speaker 5: are in the same, you know, like, and I'm not
- 51:49Speaker 5: even dogging people's interests. I'm talking about like, like, you know, crazy,
- 51:52Speaker 5: like clown killer shadow, whatever it is.
- 51:54Speaker 3: That's the thing. Like it's, it's, it's fine when you're
- 51:57Speaker 3: all into the same video game and like, you want
- 51:59Speaker 3: to get on a message board and chat.
- 52:00Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 52:01Speaker 3: I lived 20 years ago. Or you want to get
- 52:02Speaker 3: in a Twitch room and talk. I don't know.
- 52:05Speaker 5: I don't, I don't pay a hundred percent live stream.
- 52:07Speaker 3: That's all cool.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:08Speaker 3: It's like, but then there's, again, it's just one little
- 52:12Speaker 3: nudge this direction. It's like, Whoa, we've hit a dangerous area.
- 52:16Speaker 5: Yeah. There's a documentary on HBO right now called like
- 52:20Speaker 5: thought crimes. And it was about a dude who like, like,
- 52:24Speaker 5: I mean, dude, he, he ran or he was just
- 52:27Speaker 5: on this site where it was all about like people that,
- 52:29Speaker 5: that had cannibal fantasies, you know? And they were legitimately like,
- 52:34Speaker 5: like taking pictures of real women that they knew and
- 52:37Speaker 5: talking about how they would cook them and how they would,
- 52:39Speaker 5: you know, like, Oh, I'm going to prepare this and
- 52:41Speaker 5: I'm going to cut her up this way. And I'm
- 52:42Speaker 5: going to take her to this place where no one
- 52:44Speaker 5: can hear. But it was like, no, no, no. It's
- 52:46Speaker 5: all fantasy, man. It's all, you know, meanwhile, like these,
- 52:51Speaker 5: even if it's fantasy, I think by the end of
- 52:53Speaker 5: the documentary, they, I want to say a couple of
- 52:56Speaker 5: people that were on this website that were interacting with
- 52:58Speaker 5: the guy who the document out, that was like, you know,
- 53:01Speaker 5: facing all these charges. A couple of these people actually
- 53:04Speaker 5: went away to prison for other, for other crimes. You
- 53:07Speaker 5: know what I mean?
- 53:09Speaker 3: That's the thing. It's, it's a slippery slope. It's like,
- 53:13Speaker 3: I want to give people the freedom to be into
- 53:15Speaker 3: whatever you're into. Again, it falls back to as long
- 53:19Speaker 3: as everybody's willing, no one's getting hurt.
- 53:21Speaker 5: Like, you know, right.
- 53:22Speaker 3: It's like, there's hard lines we have to stick to,
- 53:25Speaker 3: but other than that, be into whatever weird shit you
- 53:27Speaker 3: want to be into. Like, I'm fine with that. but
- 53:30Speaker 3: everybody has to be on board at all. Like nobody
- 53:33Speaker 3: needs to be getting hurt. Like it's, there's, there's just
- 53:36Speaker 3: a point where it goes way too far.
- 53:39Speaker 5: And honestly, dude, it's still, no matter what, like you,
- 53:41Speaker 5: you gotta have that, that ability. I mean, to have
- 53:44Speaker 5: those groups and stuff is kind of one of those
- 53:46Speaker 5: deals where you just have to keep your head on
- 53:48Speaker 5: a swivel as always, man. Like I've, I've, been that
- 53:51Speaker 5: way since I was young. Like, I always feel like
- 53:54Speaker 5: the dude behind, you know, me in line at Kroger
- 53:58Speaker 5: could have a body in his basement, you know.
- 54:00Speaker 3: Or like, that's true.
- 54:02Speaker 5: Sometimes, man, you know, I had been in the service
- 54:06Speaker 5: industry for a majority of my adult life, you know,
- 54:09Speaker 5: or from like my teens all the way through even
- 54:13Speaker 5: my early 30s, you know, and I'm like, man, I
- 54:17Speaker 5: guarantee somebody I've served at, you know, the coffee shop
- 54:20Speaker 5: I worked at somebody I served at the, the, you know,
- 54:23Speaker 5: restaurant I worked at or at the bar. It's like, dude,
- 54:26Speaker 5: I have served a murderer. I have served a burglar or,
- 54:30Speaker 5: or people that, you know, like you can't even, who
- 54:32Speaker 5: knows what they've done, you know?
- 54:34Speaker 3: And it's like, I mean, it does happen. And again,
- 54:38Speaker 3: people who've been listening to the show for a long time,
- 54:41Speaker 3: know that two of our regulars lived across the street
- 54:44Speaker 3: from a serial killer.
- 54:47Speaker 9: Oh, no way.
- 54:48Speaker 3: And they used to, he was a weird guy. And
- 54:53Speaker 3: one of them, well, both of them kind of, but
- 54:55Speaker 3: one really used to get a creepy vibe and like
- 54:57Speaker 3: didn't want to be around the guy. But he was
- 55:00Speaker 3: like kind of, I mean, again, you see the other
- 55:03Speaker 3: side of it sometimes. He was kind of pathetic and
- 55:06Speaker 3: they sort of felt sorry for him. And he ended
- 55:08Speaker 3: up like, he was like, again, just a loser hanging
- 55:11Speaker 3: around and with us. Again, it's so cliche living with
- 55:14Speaker 3: his mom. hanging around the neighborhood. So they were letting
- 55:17Speaker 3: him mow their yard because he needed something to do.
- 55:20Speaker 3: So like he was cutting their grass on a regular basis.
- 55:24Speaker 5: I mean, was he, was he like special in a way,
- 55:27Speaker 5: like special needs or was he just like a, just.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Kind of like a outcast?
- 55:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:32Speaker 3: And that's the thing. I'm sure there's need, needless to
- 55:36Speaker 3: say something wrong with him.
- 55:37Speaker 5: Well, I don't think he was that.
- 55:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:39Speaker 3: I don't, he was functional enough that he was, he
- 55:43Speaker 3: carried on with his life. He was meeting girls and
- 55:46Speaker 3: convincing them to come back to his house. You've got
- 55:49Speaker 3: to be with it enough to be able to do that,
- 55:51Speaker 3: even if you're finding girls who should know better. I
- 55:54Speaker 3: guess picking the lower end there of girls who don't
- 55:58Speaker 3: have sense enough to not do that, but still, you've
- 56:01Speaker 3: got to be with it enough to be able to
- 56:04Speaker 3: pull that off, and he was several times. Yeah, you
- 56:09Speaker 3: really do.
- 56:11Speaker 3: Run into that stuff and it's going on out there.
- 56:14Speaker 5: That's just it, man. It isn't going to be because
- 56:17Speaker 5: of the internet. I mean, the internet makes it easier
- 56:19Speaker 5: to connect with people that are like that, but I mean, shit,
- 56:22Speaker 5: that stuff's been happening since mankind has been around. So again,
- 56:27Speaker 5: I just, you know, for a long, long time, man,
- 56:29Speaker 5: since I was young, I just don't trust people or
- 56:33Speaker 5: at least, you know, random people that you don't know.
- 56:35Speaker 3: That's for the best, really. That's a good attitude to have.
- 56:39Speaker 5: Well, yeah, man, but I always liked to, you know,
- 56:42Speaker 5: since I was little, man, you remember the show Unsolved
- 56:45Speaker 5: Mysteries or America's Most Wanted. Growing up, man, when I
- 56:51Speaker 5: would play, you know, soccer or Little League or anything
- 56:53Speaker 5: like that, I was constantly like while we were out
- 56:56Speaker 5: at practice and, you know, outdoors and whatever, I would
- 56:59Speaker 5: constantly be like looking, looking in like the ravine, looking
- 57:04Speaker 5: through the woods, like, I wonder if I'm going to
- 57:05Speaker 5: find a body today. You know what I mean? Like
- 57:08Speaker 5: just because I was always convinced that somebody had just
- 57:11Speaker 5: gotten murdered around or, or that there was some, some
- 57:14Speaker 5: sort of sinister thing lurking.
- 57:17Speaker 3: So your favorite movie was stand by me. Oh, dude, dude.
- 57:21Speaker 3: I say you guys going to go see a dead body. Dude.
- 57:25Speaker 5: I'm not joking when I say I saw that movie
- 57:26Speaker 5: when I was like five or six and maybe I uh, dude,
- 57:31Speaker 5: a lot. And my mom, I remember the first time
- 57:34Speaker 5: we saw it, I was so young that my mom
- 57:35Speaker 5: was like, like upset that, uh, that my dad was
- 57:38Speaker 5: even showing me. And this is after, I mean, he
- 57:40Speaker 5: had shown me other horror movies, but she just didn't
- 57:43Speaker 5: want me seeing that movie. And yeah, I mean, again,
- 57:47Speaker 5: I didn't see anything wrong with it. I like, in fact,
- 57:49Speaker 5: I think I almost like, like blart ass and like
- 57:53Speaker 5: the scene where they have like the, the, you know,
- 57:55Speaker 5: beaches all over them. Like that, that shit was just
- 57:58Speaker 5: part of my childhood. I thought that was hilarious.
- 58:01Speaker 10: When the night has come And the land is dark
- 58:10Speaker 10: And the moon is the only light we'll see No,
- 58:18Speaker 10: I won't be afraid No, I won't be afraid Just
- 58:28Speaker 10: as long as you stand, stand by me.
- 58:35Speaker 5: So darling, darling.
- 58:37Speaker 11: Stand by me. Oh, stand by me. Oh, stand, stand
- 58:49Speaker 11: by me. Stand by me.
- 58:57Speaker 2: It's intermission time.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Time for refreshment.
- 59:04Speaker 2: During the next 10 minutes, you're invited to visit the
- 59:07Speaker 2: refreshment stand, where you'll be greeted with fast, friendly service.

- 59:25Speaker 2: French fries. Then there's a wide selection of your favorite
- 59:29Speaker 2: candies and other delicious snacks. And there's always a fresh
- 59:33Speaker 2: batch of hot buttered popcorn to go with the rest

- 59:39Speaker 2: add to your enjoyment of the movie. We're happy to
- 59:43Speaker 2: have you with us tonight and hope you'll come back often.
- 59:53Speaker 3: I brought them to share with you. I said I
- 59:56Speaker 3: was getting my Girl Scout cookies and they finally just
- 59:59Speaker 3: before the lockdown showed up and So if you need
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: some tagalongs, I also left them sealed so you know
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: they have not been infected yet. As soon as we
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: open them, they're infected. I know, who knows. But tagalongs.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: So as we're enjoying our cookies, we're doing it with coffee,
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: which surprisingly, even as the world's falling apart, you can
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: still go get it at Heine Brothers. I was driving
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: past to go back to my bunker and I looked
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: out the window and there were people in line. Like
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: you can't hang out there, but you can still go in.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: Wait in line, get your coffee, take it back to
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: your bunker. So just, you know, even in the... I've
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: been calling it apocalypse light. You know, we haven't really
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: started fighting over gasoline yet or gunning people down in
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: the streets yet. But it's weird. So it's a very
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: light apocalypse at this point. But you can still go
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: get your Heine Brothers coffee. And until the shipping system
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: falls apart, I'm assuming you can still order it and

- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Stockpile it.

- 1:01:09Speaker 3: bags of beans for what you really will need in
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: the long run is coffee.

- 1:02:19Speaker 3: It's just us and them.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Vampire hunters.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: Ex-military guys we're trained to kill.

- 1:02:38Speaker 6: No!
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: No!
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: Steven Seagal. Against the Dark.
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: What are you going to do?
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: I'm going on.
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: On DVD. Even in the middle of all this craziness
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: in the world, and I'm still stupidly, for many people,
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: probably trying to put together these Horror Club exclusive episodes,
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: I assume... nobody cares and it's all gonna fall apart
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: nobody's gonna want these anymore yesterday we got a new
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: patron yeah somebody joined on in the middle of this
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: insanity and i was like you know it's these things

- 1:03:49Speaker 3: we're living in. So thank you to all our patrons

- 1:04:40Speaker 3: the cool kids are doing it. Okay, wait. Just by
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: being a movie geek, you're already not a cool kid.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Neither are we.
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: So all the geeks are doing it. Join the club now.

- 1:05:09Speaker 3: Two dollars. That's all you need to listen to the episodes. So,
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: I mean, it kind of keeps us alive. I was
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: discussing the horrible situation it's been to try to keep
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: things going earlier to these poor bastards. Like, yeah, it's
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: not just like, Hey, I'm rich and I want your
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: money anyway. It's, It really does keep the show going
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: to the level that people don't realize. It's kind of
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: the only way it's survived this last year and a
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: half or so since we started this.
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: So it is not only greatly appreciated, but it gives
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: us kind of a good way to come up with
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: something specific to put out there just for these people
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: that we don't no actually care enough to kick in.
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: So you get a lot of great stuff for that too.
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. I like, I like being able
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: to craft something for a very special group. So you
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: guys are super cool. And then you get these awesome episodes.

- 1:06:12Speaker 3: help us keep the meltdown rolling. Damn the man, save
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: the meltdown. This is Scott Wilson.
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: I played Herschel Green on The Walking Dead, and this
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: is Movie Meltdown.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Stay tuned.
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: The Walking Dead.
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: It's part of your problem, you know, you haven't seen
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: enough movies. All of life's riddles are answered in the movies.
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: And now, on with the show. So darling, darling, stand
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: by me.
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: Oh, stand up right by me.
- 1:06:51Speaker 4: Won't you stand up?
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: Yeah, that movie gets away with a lot of stuff
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: that I feel like you couldn't do now. And in general,
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: it was R rated, but every kid in America saw
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: it as a kid. So like it was technically R rated,
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: but it was kind of like a kid's movie in
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: a way because everybody I know watched it when they
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: were a kid.
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: So that's just it, dude. That's another sign of things
- 1:07:49Speaker 5: that have changed. You know, like some people are still
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: fine with that. Some people are like, Oh hell no.
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: Like, yeah.
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: I mean, people I've talked to just at conventions alone
- 1:07:57Speaker 5: that are like, man, I saw this growing up. Could you,
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: can you believe that? And then I'm like, yeah, dude,
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: the same, like, uh, the first theater or the first
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: movie I ever saw in the theater, like, uh, along
- 1:08:08Speaker 5: with my dad was a maximum overdrive. And I was,
- 1:08:12Speaker 5: I was six.
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: That's when it becomes a weird game. And I guess
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: neither of us get to play this yet or maybe
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: ever for me, but I'm like, then it becomes like,
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: at what point, like when you got to do whatever
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: the hell you wanted as a kid and you're, you're
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: okay with how you turned out, but then you become
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: a parent. It's like, then do you totally turn your
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: back on that? And you're just like, no, I'm not
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: letting my kids see any of this.
- 1:08:35Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: Flip on it.
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: That's another, you're, you're talking, you're talking to the wrong
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: guy about that because, That's one of those reasons I
- 1:08:45Speaker 5: don't want children, man. I love my niece and nephew.
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: I think all my friends' kids are great, and every
- 1:08:52Speaker 5: one of them are happy with their kids. Man, I've
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: never had that drive to be like, you know what?
- 1:08:58Speaker 5: I want to shape a young mind.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: Cause it's like, I was like, dude, I am a mess, man. Like,
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: or not, not a mess, but I'm like, I don't know. Like,
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: like by the, by the time my dad was my age,
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: He was retired. He was, you know, he had three
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: kids that were in high school and one of them
- 1:09:16Speaker 5: was about to be out of high school and in college.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: And it's like me, dude, what right now, if I have, like,
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: I don't know, I can't even imagine having three grown kids. Like,
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: I'm like, dude, guess what? I'm taking care of a
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: cat now. You know, like that's how you and I
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: started talking today. And I can't imagine.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: And we're all a little worried about that cat. Really?
- 1:09:38Speaker 5: As you should be. Man, I don't.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: I'm right there with you. Like it is one of those.
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: And I've said this for years and it's, I guess
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: it's partially why I've stayed away from that. Also, because
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: I think most people don't want anything to do with me.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: You know, women, whatever. The ladies noticed you're clear of
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: me in general. But I think there is, like, I still, like,
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: I have this response when people start talking. I'm like,
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: I think it's such a huge undertaking to to be
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: in charge of raising a child and like other people
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: are just like guess what we're pregnant and I'm like
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: whoa whoa whoa whoa have you stopped to think about
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: what that means like what all you are responsible for
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: and I don't know knowing how weird and twisted my
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: childhood was and how I it wasn't really like they
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: did a fine job and I still became a big
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: old mess so you know it's just like I'm just like,
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: I can't imagine all the weird little decisions that you
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: made that led to me being this way. Let alone
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: if you're like even more of a screw up. Like
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: if you're actually a bad parent, God, again, we're back
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: to having a serial killer living next to you.
- 1:10:52Speaker 5: Well, Andrew, that's the other thing is you could be
- 1:10:54Speaker 5: the greatest parent on earth, man. You never know. It
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: could be, I mean, and look again, I don't, and
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: hopefully not many parents are listening. I think about things like, look,
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: you can be the perfect parent, have a kid that's
- 1:11:08Speaker 5: an honor roll student, they're 15 years old, and they're
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: hanging out with their friend who's 60 and they just
- 1:11:13Speaker 5: got their license and then they get killed in the crash.
- 1:11:18Speaker 5: Something so completely out of your control, something even out
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: of the kid's control, it's something that you give birth
- 1:11:27Speaker 5: to something that obviously has its own life, becomes its
- 1:11:31Speaker 5: own thing. that you have to kind of let do
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: its thing. And then that leaves everything up to chance again,
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: as usual. And then you also have, you know, I've
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: got lots of friends that, that man, that God bless them. They're,
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: they're in the hospital a lot because their kids have
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: so many issues that, that, you know, just arise out
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: of nowhere.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: I thought they were just getting themselves injured all the
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: time because I'm like, oh, no, I played that game.
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: I used to constantly injure myself as a child. And
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: not as like a clumsy thing, just something horrendous would
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: happen to me. My mom has said that to me.
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: She's like, you know, if what you had going on
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: when you were a kid happened now, they would have
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: taken you away from us. okay and it was always
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: my doing they weren't responsible i was just doing something
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: stupid or just random luck that i i walked under
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: this tree and oh it sliced my head open like
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: stupid shit like that the kids do but like yep
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: now it's like you're responsible and we'll be held accountable
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: when they do stupid shit like that.
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: Oh man yeah well imagine if if you know God, dude, I, again,
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: imagine if your kid is being bullied, imagine if you
- 1:12:43Speaker 5: don't handle something appropriately and then they do something horrible,
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: you know, like just imagine there's, there's a ton of things.
- 1:12:50Speaker 5: And again, man, I broke, did you break bones now?
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: Like when you said you got injured a lot?
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: Yeah, some.
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: Okay. Cause like I broke multiple bones growing up. And
- 1:13:02Speaker 5: so I can't even imagine being a parent, you know,
- 1:13:05Speaker 5: and having like, like, there were a lot of times,
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: a lot of times where my mom was all by
- 1:13:10Speaker 5: herself with all of us, you know, because my dad
- 1:13:13Speaker 5: was in the Navy. And so he was always, you know,
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: there's six month cruises, you know, where that was part
- 1:13:18Speaker 5: of his job was.
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: Months at a time trapped with the.
- 1:13:22Speaker 5: Three of you six months at a time, trapped with
- 1:13:27Speaker 5: three kids. And we're talking three boys and half the time,
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: you know, we were being restationed. So she would have
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: to like take us across country and, to the next location.
- 1:13:38Speaker 5: You know what I mean? Like in a van or
- 1:13:40Speaker 5: on a train or whatever it was. And anyway, you know,
- 1:13:45Speaker 5: I mean, there were so many things that could go
- 1:13:47Speaker 5: wrong there. And even just imagine like having no significant
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: other around and then suddenly you have two kids that
- 1:13:58Speaker 5: you have to bring with you to the hospital because
- 1:14:00Speaker 5: your other kid just broke a bone. It's like, oh
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: my God, no. And this was before cell phones and
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: before GPS and before... you know, like hell to the no.
- 1:14:12Speaker 6: Oh yeah.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. I watch people kind of like
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: go into these scenarios with their kids and I guess
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: no real judgment. Like it just horrifies me.
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: Like, Oh no.
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: Like they seem, they seem so nonchalant about it. They're
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: just like, yeah. And they'll be naming something that their
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: kid's going to do. I'm like, that could go horribly wrong.
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: What are you doing?
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: That's exactly it. Like I, I love that my friends
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: are killing it as parents. Like dude, it's, I have
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: multiple friends with teenage kids, you know what I mean?
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: And I'm like, wow, dude, like, like I knew you before.
- 1:14:46Speaker 5: I was like, I knew you when we were allowed
- 1:14:48Speaker 5: to start drinking, you know what I mean? Like, like
- 1:14:51Speaker 5: I've seen you puking because of eating too many chicken
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: tenders or something like it just cracks me up that
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: their parents, but now dude, I'm also watching them killing it,
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: you know? And again, I see things like that and I'm, terrified.
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: But then I have friends that are literally my age
- 1:15:11Speaker 5: that are having babies right now and dude, they're just
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: killing it and they couldn't be happier. And so it's like,
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: and it's something that they've always wanted to though, you know,
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: and with me, I feel like I'm maybe just too
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: selfish or too scared or I have too many, you know,
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: reservations or whatever it is, but man, it's just not
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: been on my menu.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: My real answer almost all of the time. And this
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: was the funny thing is I'll always be like, man,
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: kids cost too much. Cause like, I do not understand
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: how people afford children. Cause they will just suck money
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: out of you. And I'm like, I barely get by now. Dude, same.
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: I don't understand how they do it. Yeah. Yeah. Dude, yeah,
- 1:15:53Speaker 5: I think about that shit all the time.
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: But that's the funny part is that's the one thing,
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: like any other time if you start, like you're badmouthing
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: the idea of being a parent, most parents get defensive.
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: That's the one thing they will be like, oh, no,
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: you're right.
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: It's ridiculous.
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: They will never fight me on that one. They'll always
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: be like, yeah, all right, you get a point.
- 1:16:12Speaker 5: I will never badmouth being a parent either. It's just like, dude,
- 1:16:16Speaker 5: I'm not going to badmouth somebody, you know, or if
- 1:16:19Speaker 5: somebody is religious, you know what I mean? I'm not
- 1:16:21Speaker 5: going to badmouth that. like it's each their own just
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: like if somebody wants to blast country music like dude
- 1:16:27Speaker 5: i go for it man like if that's what gets
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: you going if that's what's gonna pump you up and
- 1:16:31Speaker 5: motivate you.
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: I'm probably still gonna be if it's modern country i'm
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: probably still gonna talk shit.
- 1:16:37Speaker 5: But again again i will think the shit all i
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: want and i will talk to my car yeah or
- 1:16:44Speaker 5: to my yeah.
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: But I will support their, like, if that's what you're into, whatever.
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: I support your right to be into that. I don't
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: want anybody telling me what I can't like.
- 1:16:55Speaker 5: I don't want to, I don't want to deter them
- 1:16:56Speaker 5: from it. You know what I mean? Like, and again, yeah. Like,
- 1:16:59Speaker 5: like the same thing with kids, man. Like I have
- 1:17:03Speaker 5: friends that literally could not wait to have children. And
- 1:17:05Speaker 5: I knew that since I was in college, you know
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: what I mean? Like, like or 15 years ago i'm
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: like oh yeah no i know he wants to be
- 1:17:12Speaker 5: a dad more than anything or oh yeah you know
- 1:17:14Speaker 5: i know she's gonna have kids and and that that's
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: all they wanted to do was like just raise a
- 1:17:18Speaker 5: family and it's not like you know they're trying to
- 1:17:21Speaker 5: have a kid by any means i'm saying that that
- 1:17:23Speaker 5: was something that they always wanted it.
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: Was a goal you know it's like as much as
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: like i want to get this great job equally as
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: much and i want to have a family and like
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: totally totally weird to me like.
- 1:17:34Speaker 5: Yeah and i guess i just yeah man i i
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: don't remember a time when unless when I was young,
- 1:17:41Speaker 5: you know, like a kid still, but when I was
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: even thinking about having kids.
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: I don't even know if I had, like I'm thinking back,
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: I'm like, I don't even know if I had that
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: mode then.
- 1:17:51Speaker 5: Well, you know, like I feel like my brothers and I,
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: like when we were young, you know, have conversations like,
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: oh man, one of these days we're going to have
- 1:17:58Speaker 5: like a house, like right next door, you know, all
- 1:18:01Speaker 5: of us will live right next door. And then like
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: all of our kids can be playing, you know, with
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: our kids. And like, you know, we were just talking
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: about how like we were always, we were going to
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: have like a massive house that like all of us
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: could live under and, you know, But that was stuff
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: that we would say when we were like eight.
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: All of that is true, except you're at the other
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: end of that street and you're like, weird Uncle Dick.
- 1:18:22Speaker 5: I know, I'm the guy.
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: I know, because I'm that same weird uncle.
- 1:18:26Speaker 5: Well, I was going to say, I'm the weird shut-in uncle,
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: but like, you know. I like to give good Christmas
- 1:18:33Speaker 5: gifts and stuff. I want to be the kind of
- 1:18:36Speaker 5: cool guy occasionally, but I also just don't want to
- 1:18:39Speaker 5: be that guy that has the kids that nobody in
- 1:18:43Speaker 5: the family wants to hang out with. because you know
- 1:18:46Speaker 5: like if i had a kid it would be that
- 1:18:48Speaker 5: kid like they'd all be like oh man they're coming
- 1:18:52Speaker 5: why are.
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: They coming i know it's christmas but why do they
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: have to come.
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: Exactly i don't i just don't want my kid to
- 1:18:58Speaker 5: be like the frumpy dumpy kid that's like i don't
- 1:19:01Speaker 5: know i just i i give myself no credit when
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: it would come to raising.
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: A child.
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: I've just come to that conclusion a long time ago
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: and i again i just take it serious like more
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: serious than i feel like most people with kids like
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: they seem like they just like shrug it off and
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: i'm just like no no this is so important like
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: i think i just overthink it and they're just like
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: whatever we you know we're pregnant we're having this kid
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: and i'm gonna deal with it and i go to
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: work every day and i raise this family and I
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: guess how you have to do it, but I'm, I'm
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: on the other end of it going, no, no, no, no.
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: This is a huge responsibility. What are you doing, man?
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:43Speaker 5: I'm, I'm that, that dude in idiocracy in the beginning,
- 1:19:46Speaker 5: you know, that's like, well, we're going to wait until
- 1:19:48Speaker 5: we have a good job. Good. Uh, you know, and
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: then it's like, well, we're going to wait until the,
- 1:19:52Speaker 5: and then by the time they're in their forties and
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: fifties are dead.
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: Meanwhile, the morons of the world just continue to crank
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: out children.
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: Yeah, but I mean, you know, also the good people.
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: Also, no, I just, I love that part of the movie, actually.
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: Oh, absolutely.
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: That whole little scenario is hilarious and yet kind of
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: true because no matter, yeah, always the people with like
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: a perfect life and they have a home and they
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: have money enough to raise a kid. Or the ones
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: that cannot get pregnant. And two teenagers in the back
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: of a pickup somewhere are getting knocked up every time.
- 1:20:28Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. Oh, dude. I mean, I have had upwards
- 1:20:32Speaker 5: of 50 and 60 episodes of Maury Povich on a
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: DVR at one time. And so, you know, like when
- 1:20:38Speaker 5: you see a woman who's got five or six kids
- 1:20:41Speaker 5: and she's on the show. for her 15th paternity test
- 1:20:44Speaker 5: for the one kid. I'm like, Oh Jesus. Like that's
- 1:20:48Speaker 5: all I can think of.
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: This is once again, telling me why we need to
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: stop having children. Maybe all of us, certainly I need
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: to steer clear of it, but maybe everyone needs to,
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: let's just take a break for a generation or so.
- 1:21:05Speaker 5: You know, I feel like a lot of people are
- 1:21:07Speaker 5: thinking like that nowadays. Like, I mean, I know I
- 1:21:11Speaker 5: certainly don't feel like I need to bring another kid
- 1:21:13Speaker 5: into the planet, you know, because I don't even know
- 1:21:16Speaker 5: if the planet's around in 5, 10, 20. I don't know. Like,
- 1:21:18Speaker 5: am I around in 5, 10, 20? Who knows?
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: I make that comment daily now. I'm like, you know,
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: when we get past all this. Well, if we get past,
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm constantly like not selling it out as
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: like it's definitely going to. I'm like, I don't know
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: if we survive this. We'll see what we do. You know,
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: I'm just like. let's be realistic. Who the hell knows
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: what's going to happen.
- 1:21:38Speaker 5: So, yeah, I'm like a fingers crossed guy, you know?
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:21:43Speaker 5: I hope for the best, but yeah, I'm assuming it'll
- 1:21:46Speaker 5: be fine. But at the same time, like son of
- 1:21:49Speaker 5: a bitch.
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: That's the thing though. I think this is one of
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: those things. And it's, it is interesting how, how blindsided
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: we were, even though we've had many outbreaks over the years,
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: we've had things leading up to it, but, this hit
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: in such a monumental, like huge version that like nothing's
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: ever going to really be the same. It might go
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: back to being similar, but there are, I mean, it is,
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: it is leaving an impact on this generation, these several
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: generations that like, it will always be like a huge
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: part of, of this era of time. This is part
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: of humanity.
- 1:22:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: It's yeah that's what is like slowly occurred to me
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: like in the beginning it's just like oh you know
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: it's it's another one of those weird SARS stories on
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: the news and like all these other things we've had
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: similar over the years but just not on this massive
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: scale and And eventually I was just like, no, no,
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: this is, this is, it's funny how often people are
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: constantly comparing it to like world war two, you know,
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: it's just like that epic scale.
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: Of like, or even like Spanish flu and like coming up,
- 1:22:59Speaker 5: you know, like they're talking about how even, even when,
- 1:23:02Speaker 5: you know, places like San Francisco thought it was all okay.
- 1:23:05Speaker 5: It's under control. Then they reopened and it became like
- 1:23:08Speaker 5: another massive outbreak.
- 1:23:09Speaker 6: And yeah.
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:23:12Speaker 5: Yeah. again I definitely agree with you on the things
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: that will change because I mean you know even if
- 1:23:20Speaker 5: it takes away shaking hands or even if it like
- 1:23:23Speaker 5: you know keeps a lot of different companies with people
- 1:23:25Speaker 5: working at home or I don't know even just the
- 1:23:28Speaker 5: way things are like food handled I don't.
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: Know that is like it's funny though that's and I
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: was having this conversation the other day too because we
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: were talking about how much it really is like science
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: fiction And it's funny, I see bits and pieces of
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: movies that I've watched over the years happening in the
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: real world now. And I'm just like, is that... I
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: then try to, again, because I kind of like weird
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: sci-fi stories and I like some of these dystopian movies.
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: So I'm just like, if I go ahead and domino
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: it down the line quite a bit, I'm like, do
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: we end up at this point? Are we like... I
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: keep saying, you know, hazmat suits look pretty cool. It'll
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: be great when we all have one. Cause we're all
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: just going to be walking around completely in a bubble.
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: Well, even just wearing masks, you know what I mean?
- 1:24:17Speaker 5: Like that becoming the new norm and like, uh, uh, yeah.
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: Like when, when you watch those future movies and you're like, yeah,
- 1:24:26Speaker 5: but come on. I mean, when would all of society
- 1:24:29Speaker 5: just got on board with just being inside and with
- 1:24:31Speaker 5: just being like this and that. And then it's like, Oh, yeah,
- 1:24:35Speaker 5: I guess it would take something like this for all
- 1:24:38Speaker 5: of society.
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: Yeah, in the span of a couple of weeks, we
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: hit that. That's the amazing thing is how quick that
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: turn was that like it hit and like everything changed immediately.
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: And like we were not prepared. But it is interesting
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: how much it all fell into place. There's not that
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: we're not fighting and squabbling over little things night and day.
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: but like for the most part, we are like in
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: this new system now of like how we're trying to survive.
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: And so you do see like, if you go ahead
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: and things didn't get better and you go ahead, assuming
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: people survive 20 years, like it would be a drastically,
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: it would look like a science fiction movie does. And now, yeah.
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: So I, I think about that and.
- 1:25:23Speaker 5: Well, it's crazy. It's crazy. Even seeing those side-by-side pictures
- 1:25:27Speaker 5: of like India, you know what I mean? And, places that,
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: that have a lot of smog and a lot of
- 1:25:34Speaker 5: pollution and stuff. And then you see the side-by-side comparison
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: of a photo from October of last year to April
- 1:25:41Speaker 5: of this year. And the skies are clear and, you know,
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: like it looks like a, it looks like a brand
- 1:25:49Speaker 5: new place.
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: Cause that's what the world wants to do is get
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: rid of its problem. Children, which are humans get it.
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: back to the way it probably wants to be. And
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: we're the, we are once again, the, the, the monkey
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: wrench in the plans of this planet.
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: Oh yeah. Well, I mean, in that man, animals have
- 1:26:08Speaker 5: been coming back into cities and like dolphins have been
- 1:26:11Speaker 5: going into like the canals, uh, man, because now there's no,
- 1:26:16Speaker 5: there's no little, you know, boats, no, uh, no traffic
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: out there. It's crazy, man.
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: It's become its own weird science fiction movie and we're
- 1:26:26Speaker 3: living in it. Oh, so just to round out with
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: some version of what we normally do, we'll bring it back.
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: We started with movies. Have you watched anything on your
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: lockdown as you're quarantined? What have you seen lately?
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: Well, you know, I mean, I don't want to spend
- 1:26:46Speaker 5: a whole lot of time talking about trash television because
- 1:26:50Speaker 5: I watch a lot of that. But, you know, man,
- 1:26:53Speaker 5: we watched the latest Rambo, you know, Last Blood.
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: I just ended up talking about that last week.
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: Okay. Let me, we'll let, just to get a differences
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: of opinion here because I, yeah, we got a very
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: specific take last week. I was somewhere in the middle.
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: So where do you land on last blood?
- 1:27:14Speaker 5: Uh, well, I like Rambo movies and, uh, this movie,
- 1:27:23Speaker 5: was about as... I was almost laughing like I do
- 1:27:29Speaker 5: when I watch a Steven Seagal movie from anywhere in
- 1:27:32Speaker 5: the last 15 years.
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: Or 20 or 25. Oh my God.
- 1:27:39Speaker 5: Some of the movies that he has put out like
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: three or four movies a year for like six or
- 1:27:45Speaker 5: seven years.
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: And he hasn't been able to kick in about 15.
- 1:27:48Speaker 5: No, exactly.
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: He can't lift his leg past his knee. Yeah.
- 1:27:53Speaker 5: Oh, man, it's horrifying. But it's great. It was really
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: fantastic to see how they pull it off. But anyway,
- 1:28:01Speaker 5: with the new Rambo, I felt like there were a
- 1:28:03Speaker 5: lot of those moments. But at the same time, if
- 1:28:05Speaker 5: you laugh at it and just let it go, man,
- 1:28:07Speaker 5: the movie was fun. And it was brutal as hell.
- 1:28:12Speaker 5: I want to say that it had more gore and
- 1:28:14Speaker 5: some of the crazier kills than a lot of recent
- 1:28:18Speaker 5: horror films.
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: Yeah, its wrap-up is nothing but crazy ways to take
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: people out.
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: Absolutely. The whole 15-20 minutes of the third act is
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: nothing but killing random people. And I'm like, holy shit!
- 1:28:34Speaker 5: They didn't shy away from some of the most brutal
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: kills of all time.
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: But again, much like our earlier conversation, that's kind of
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: what I want. I just want enough of a compound
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: that I can dig some tunnels and be able to
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: start taking people out if necessary.
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: Is that all your hidden gadgets and your, your booby traps.
- 1:28:56Speaker 5: But again, I mean, as far as a Rambo movie,
- 1:28:59Speaker 5: I mean, dude, the guy's like 70-something years old now.
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: The fact that he can still do any of this.
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: Look at the shape he was in. Look at the
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: shape he was in.
- 1:29:10Speaker 5: He was just like a giant, roided-out musclehead. And it
- 1:29:16Speaker 5: was like, dude, kick ass, man. Thanks for making this
- 1:29:19Speaker 5: last Rambo movie. If he makes another one, I would
- 1:29:23Speaker 5: be astounded. But at the same time, I'll probably watch it.
- 1:29:26Speaker 5: Because even that previous Rambo, when he came back after
- 1:29:30Speaker 5: so long, holy shit.
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I said last time. I was like,
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: if you don't like this one, but you haven't seen
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: the last one, go back and watch the last one
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: from like 10 years ago. Because That is a hardcore
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: war movie that is brutal as hell. It's surprising how
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: realistic the war part of it was.
- 1:29:51Speaker 7: Oh, God, dude.
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: To me, this one is back to being more of silly, over-the-top,
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: gratuitous violence. Of course. Again, I feel like that last
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: one kind of settled in on, hey, you want to
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: know how horrible war is? Where this one is just
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: more like, wouldn't it be fun to rip some guy's
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: heart out? Let's go to it.
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: I also think, yeah, I think it was also like
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: a sign of the times too, you know, because when
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: the last Rambo came out, look at what was going on,
- 1:30:20Speaker 5: you know, maybe they were commenting on specifics and trying
- 1:30:24Speaker 5: to show people that war wasn't the way anymore, you know?
- 1:30:27Speaker 5: And again, this last one just felt like it was
- 1:30:32Speaker 5: a send off to the character, you know, like even
- 1:30:35Speaker 5: in the wrap up, I really feel like it was
- 1:30:37Speaker 5: the final one.
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: But even then they get, again, we've, I threw the
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: spoiler out a week ago, but yeah, I'm like the,
- 1:30:47Speaker 3: the fact that they still didn't totally put the nail
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: in the coffin there. There's still that little last second
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: of like, or we might make another, whatever. We don't know.
- 1:30:57Speaker 5: That's just it though. That, that's also what you call
- 1:31:01Speaker 5: genius when it comes to filmmaking, especially when it comes
- 1:31:05Speaker 5: to the fifth film. It's like, you know, technically he
- 1:31:11Speaker 5: doesn't have to come back and be a badass Rambo.
- 1:31:14Speaker 5: He could be passing the torch to a, to a grandson,
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: you know what I mean? Like in the next movie,
- 1:31:19Speaker 5: I'm surprised.
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: It's only been five truthfully.
- 1:31:23Speaker 5: Well, isn't it, isn't it only five?
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: Yeah, but there was, see, that's the thing. I, and
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: I guess we're lucky and, or unlucky in our own, again,
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: you you'll understand based on the way you've discussed some
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: of these horrible movies, but like, It was supposed to be.
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: I'm sure they pitched many over the years that didn't
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: get made. But after the last one was so successful
- 1:31:47Speaker 3: and people really did like, oh, that was actually surprisingly good.
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: Then they started writing. And I only know about this
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: screenplay because we talked about it on the show. It's
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: happened in the span of us having the show. And
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: we sat down and we were talking about whatever movie
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: news or something. And one of the things I remember
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: us talking about was after that last movie, they wrote
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: a script and it was at the time potentially going
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: to get greenlit and get made where, and they essentially
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: were taking it into a supernatural realm.
- 1:32:20Speaker 5: What?
- 1:32:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: Basically, um, an alien was going to fall to earth
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: and the government was, Oh shit, what do we do?
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: This giant alien creature is going to kill everybody. Oh,
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: let's send Rambo to say, I swear this was the story. Again, I,
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: Would not be surprised there wasn't a screenplay at least.
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: It probably got a good amount of the production going
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: before somebody scrapped it. But no joke, it was supposed
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: to be Rambo versus an alien, if not more than
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: one alien. But it was supposed to be.
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: So I was just like, I remember at the time going,
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: especially coming off that last movie, which had such a
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: realistic edge to it, at least as far as the
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: war part was. I was like, why now would we
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: veer into like something crazy like aliens?
- 1:33:10Speaker 5: Well, now you know where every franchise likes to end.
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: In space. Space. in space so maybe that's as he
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: rode off on the horse he was going to strap
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: himself into a rocket and fire himself into the universe.
- 1:33:26Speaker 5: I just don't I mean or he's just firing up
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: the spacecraft that he got from the aliens so that
- 1:33:32Speaker 5: he can go and destroy the rest.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: Of them I'm gonna go to your planet I'm gonna
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: kill every one of you.
- 1:33:39Speaker 3: We know that's gonna yeah that's in our future I suppose.
- 1:33:43Speaker 5: Rambo green blood.
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: So in a way, like I almost like at the time,
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: I certainly like don't silly the fine film franchise that
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: is Rambo. But in a way, like I almost want
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: to see maybe if we don't work the Rambo name.
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: But again, like so many of his characters became knockoffs
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: of his of his big famous characters anyway. So like
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: what if we just took Stallone and put him in
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: a movie where he gets to punch out, you know,
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: aliens like.
- 1:34:12Speaker 5: Well, man, you know, you know, you could because. did
- 1:34:17Speaker 5: you hear, well, you've seen, um, what's the damn Kung Fury?
- 1:34:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I think a long time ago.
- 1:34:27Speaker 5: Uh, dude, listen, if you get a chance, Kung Fury
- 1:34:31Speaker 5: is one of those movies that I've probably seen like
- 1:34:35Speaker 5: 15 or 20 times because it's only like 30 minutes long. Uh,
- 1:34:39Speaker 5: and it is so epic and so fucking crazy. Um,
- 1:34:46Speaker 5: And it's even got a theme song, a full video.
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: And I own dude, I own this song and I
- 1:34:51Speaker 5: have driven, I have cruised through the town, blasting this
- 1:34:56Speaker 5: song so many times. The theme song is straight sounding
- 1:35:00Speaker 5: like is came out of the eighties and it was
- 1:35:02Speaker 5: sung by David Hasselhoff. Oh, nice. It is incredible. But
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: the movie came out like maybe four or five years ago.
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:35:10Speaker 5: And, uh, they've got a sequel, like a full length
- 1:35:15Speaker 5: feature film sequel coming out within the next year. And
- 1:35:21Speaker 5: Arnold Schwarzenegger is, is one of the guys in the movie.
- 1:35:27Speaker 5: And I want to say he plays the president.
- 1:35:29Speaker 3: I mean, well, that's, it was not far off for
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: a while there. Then it can't be any more ridiculous
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: than the world we live in.
- 1:35:36Speaker 5: So like, I'm telling you, man, if you get a
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: chance to see Kung Fury, like, you, you will not
- 1:35:42Speaker 5: be disappointed. I mean, everyone from, you know, Thor to
- 1:35:47Speaker 5: Adolf Hitler to laser Raptors. And, you know, like you,
- 1:35:52Speaker 5: you would be, you'd be surprised.
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: Well, that's what's funny is when people that were so
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: used to, and like when they get kind of in
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: a rut or at least they have their, their brand
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: of whatever it is, type of genre that they do.
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: And when they like branch out and do other things, Like,
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: and I only say this because any chance I get
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: to discuss this movie, but you brought him up earlier.
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: Have you ever seen Against the Dark?
- 1:36:23Speaker 9: No.
- 1:36:24Speaker 3: I only know about it because, once again, we did
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: an episode on it. And because I saw, I had
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: never heard of it, and I saw it in a
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: store and went, oh my God, this is not a
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: real thing. It is Steven Seagal fighting vampires.
- 1:36:39Speaker 5: Shut up.
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: I wish I know. I mean, I got so much
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: enjoyment out of that specifically because we did an episode.
- 1:36:48Speaker 3: So I got to spend like an entire length of
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: an episode just mercilessly making fun of this movie.
- 1:36:54Speaker 2: Oh, dude.
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: It is so badly put together. And that's the thing.
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: Not just the fact that. There are times when I'm
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: pretty sure that's not even Steven Seagal. Like they just
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: he's wearing this like down to his ankles, big black
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: leather coat. I guess I hide the fact that he'd
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: gotten huge at that point. But this is the point
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: where he was already a big dude.
- 1:37:16Speaker 5: Yeah, he's already wearing muumuu's in his day to day. Yeah.
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: So this is like just I'm going to be a
- 1:37:22Speaker 3: tough guy. So I guess I've got to wear a
- 1:37:23Speaker 3: black leather coat instead of a muumuu. But like, I
- 1:37:26Speaker 3: swear there are times when I'm like, I don't even
- 1:37:28Speaker 3: think that's him. They got a body double to just
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: walk down the street because he doesn't even, well, and
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: there's bad dubbing involved. I'm like, I don't even think
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: that's his voice sometimes. Like it is a train wreck
- 1:37:39Speaker 3: that brought together this movie. I can only assume. But
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: then on top of that, the fact that he's worked
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: in something of the horror realm and I'm like, he's just,
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: it's supposed to be a bad vampire killer kind of
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: a guy, but it's, He's more like, it's like a
- 1:37:56Speaker 3: special ops group, but for killing vampires. And then sometimes
- 1:38:02Speaker 3: the vampires act like zombies, not vampires. Again, there's just
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: like bad, basic horror writing.
- 1:38:09Speaker 5: Oh my God.
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: It's going to infuriate you, I'm sure.
- 1:38:12Speaker 5: Right, they're not even familiar with vampire canon. They don't
- 1:38:16Speaker 5: have any, there's no rules really.
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: Yeah, just inconsistencies.
- 1:38:20Speaker 5: They're like, no, no, no, he was killed with a
- 1:38:22Speaker 5: silver bullet.
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: Well, sometimes they're mindless drones trying to just kill him.
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: And then at one point one stops. and gives this
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: soliloquy this big long speech and like but they were
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: mindless monsters a minute ago like did you guys not
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: read the other pages that somebody wrote probably not the
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: same writer but as you pasted this bullshit together did
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: you not notice the inconsistency oh so yeah this is
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: this is one yeah if we're putting it on your.
- 1:38:52Speaker 5: List i oh i just did against the dark uh
- 1:38:55Speaker 5: tell me now uh does he have a love scene
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: in the.
- 1:38:59Speaker 3: Movie thankfully no well unless you count the the mashed potatoes.
- 1:39:05Speaker 5: I didn't oh yeah well because dude he finds a
- 1:39:08Speaker 5: way every goddamn movie To put himself in a very
- 1:39:15Speaker 5: uncomfortable love scene with somebody a third his age.
- 1:39:19Speaker 3: And it is horrifying. I feel like that's real life
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: all of his life. Oh, of course. Every time he
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: was involved in that, it was a horror story. And
- 1:39:27Speaker 3: probably with a girl a third his age.
- 1:39:29Speaker 5: Of course. He's like a total me too-er.
- 1:39:32Speaker 9: Yup.
- 1:39:34Speaker 5: He's, I mean, I legitimately, he's part.
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: Of that list. Not to make light of that. Like he,
- 1:39:40Speaker 3: the things that we know he's, let alone the things
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: that he's probably done that didn't see the light of day,
- 1:39:45Speaker 3: but yeah.
- 1:39:46Speaker 5: No, he's a, he's a terrible person. Anyway, I just, yeah,
- 1:39:49Speaker 5: I will definitely be watching this movie because, uh, I
- 1:39:53Speaker 5: love a good train wreck, man. Like Steven Seagal films
- 1:39:56Speaker 5: are fantastic.
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: That's why I wanted to make sure you knew about it.
- 1:40:00Speaker 3: Cause it also crosses over with horror, which I know
- 1:40:03Speaker 3: you're on board with. So this is just a collision
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: of two horrible trains.
- 1:40:08Speaker 5: Oh, that's a win-win right there, man. I, because also when,
- 1:40:12Speaker 5: when you were mentioning the, the, stunt double and stuff, man, they,
- 1:40:16Speaker 5: they use in every, in all of his recent movies,
- 1:40:19Speaker 5: he uses a stunt double to walk up the stairs.
- 1:40:21Speaker 5: He uses a stunt double for everything. I mean, he
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: was legitimately like swollen and purple and he's like out
- 1:40:28Speaker 5: of breath from talking. So when you say that he
- 1:40:31Speaker 5: was dubbed over, I don't doubt that either.
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: That's yeah. That was the funniest part. I was like,
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: he needed a stunt double for his voice.
- 1:40:38Speaker 5: Yeah. He's got mush mouth, I'm telling you. Like, this guy, he's,
- 1:40:45Speaker 5: and he's still cranking out movies. And it'll even sometimes say, like,
- 1:40:49Speaker 5: written by Steven Seagal. You're just like, of course it was.
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: From an idea he had on the toilet of Steven Seagal.
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: He's, like, on the set of a current movie writing
- 1:41:00Speaker 5: his next movie.
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: On the back of a napkin somewhere.
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:41:04Speaker 3: Oh, Lord.
- 1:41:07Speaker 5: Well, I appreciate the heads up on that film.
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: Yeah. I, I, for you, I probably will recommend it
- 1:41:13Speaker 3: for everyone else. I will probably, I will at least
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: give you fair warning. If you watch it, you got
- 1:41:19Speaker 3: yourself into this because I'm telling you it is a nightmare,
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: but if you're the kind of person who enjoys that
- 1:41:26Speaker 3: level of nightmare, then you might, you might have a
- 1:41:29Speaker 3: good time with it.
- 1:41:30Speaker 5: Oh man.
- 1:41:31Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:41:31Speaker 5: Oh, I just added the movie, uh, dead or killer couch.
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I know of it. I have not sat down
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: and watched it.
- 1:41:40Speaker 5: I haven't watched it yet.
- 1:41:42Speaker 3: It's getting watched.
- 1:41:45Speaker 5: Best believe. Well, actually, I will say we've recently been
- 1:41:51Speaker 5: on an Indiana Jones kick. Speaking of aliens, I had
- 1:41:55Speaker 5: never seen the Kingdom of Crystal Skull.
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: Like, never? Okay.
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: No, I hadn't.
- 1:42:01Speaker 5: I heard a lot of people bitching about it. It
- 1:42:03Speaker 5: was like, you know, when I finally saw it and
- 1:42:06Speaker 5: I'm like, well, wait a minute, I guess I didn't
- 1:42:08Speaker 5: really know what people, I mean, it was, it was ridiculous.
- 1:42:11Speaker 5: I mean, it was one of those movies. I mean,
- 1:42:14Speaker 5: like somebody, they were like swinging on a vine with
- 1:42:16Speaker 5: monkeys and I don't know, like the movie was outrageous,
- 1:42:19Speaker 5: but at the same time, uh, if you watch all
- 1:42:23Speaker 5: the old ones, which we've been going back and watching
- 1:42:25Speaker 5: those two, dude, they're all pretty outrageous.
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: I just, it's funny. I just on the last episode
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: made this exact comment. Because I was like, they said
- 1:42:34Speaker 3: something about bad mouthing that for, or I brought it
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: up because I think it's always fun. But I'm like,
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: people got so outraged by that movie. And I'm like,
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: have you seen Temple of Doom? They do ridiculous things
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: in Temple of Doom. Like, I'm sorry. And I love it,
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: but it's ridiculous.
- 1:42:51Speaker 5: Well, one of the big complaints looking it up was
- 1:42:54Speaker 5: like that it had aliens or that, you know, whatever.
- 1:42:56Speaker 5: And I'm like, hold up. You think that's too far-fetched
- 1:43:00Speaker 5: for Indiana Jones? The very first movie, there's the goddamn
- 1:43:04Speaker 5: Ark of the Covenant and melting faces because they looked
- 1:43:07Speaker 5: at spirits. If you think aliens are too much, just
- 1:43:14Speaker 5: too much.
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: It is one of those it's going into a different territory.
- 1:43:20Speaker 3: I do wonder, I was like, if they just would
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: have not done that part. If they just would have
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: sent them on some other mission and it was kind
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: of the same bullshit and sort of fighting the same people.
- 1:43:32Speaker 3: But in the end we didn't have the end that
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: we did. Like would people have really gotten on board
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: with it? Like it, is it really just that much
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: of a nudge over here that like would change people
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: because they love the other three?
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: Like, yeah, see, I guess I, I feel like aliens
- 1:43:48Speaker 5: were too much of a stretch and religion wasn't, you
- 1:43:51Speaker 5: know what I mean? Because, uh, uh, I guess, wait, man. Yeah.
- 1:43:57Speaker 5: because some of the stuff that those first three movies,
- 1:43:59Speaker 5: I mean, even last true state has so many moments
- 1:44:02Speaker 5: that are supernatural and you're like, well, but that, that
- 1:44:06Speaker 5: if you're okay with that, but then you don't like this.
- 1:44:10Speaker 5: And again, I feel like aliens are, uh, you know, very,
- 1:44:14Speaker 5: very different for Indiana Jones, but also, I mean, shit, the,
- 1:44:18Speaker 5: there are those ancient artifacts that are tied to alien theories.
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: Oh yeah. Yeah.
- 1:44:24Speaker 5: And so he's we've done the religious thing, I mean,
- 1:44:28Speaker 5: multiple times. So I guess the only other sort of
- 1:44:31Speaker 5: supernatural sort of, you know, out there thing would be aliens.
- 1:44:37Speaker 5: I don't know. I just I went into it with
- 1:44:39Speaker 5: the mindset of, wow, everyone hated this movie. I'm probably
- 1:44:42Speaker 5: not going to like this, you know, and I also
- 1:44:45Speaker 5: hate Shia LaBeouf.
- 1:44:47Speaker 3: I think that's the other thing. And I brought that
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: up last episode. I was like, we're going to try
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: to go back and recast. Who would we have put
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: in there at that time? And I think anybody else
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: might have, maybe not saved the movie, but that's across
- 1:45:02Speaker 3: the board. Everybody's like, oh, I hate this mutt. Why
- 1:45:05Speaker 3: is he in here?
- 1:45:06Speaker 5: You could have put Gilbert Gottfried in there and I
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: would have been fine with it.
- 1:45:12Speaker 3: Interesting choice, but yeah, I still feel like people might
- 1:45:16Speaker 3: not have complained as much.
- 1:45:17Speaker 5: I just felt like, man, I can't stand it. And
- 1:45:20Speaker 5: I felt like they, they spent a lot of the
- 1:45:21Speaker 5: movie trying to pass the torch to him. And then,
- 1:45:25Speaker 5: then the whole like, Oh, the reveal of the end.
- 1:45:28Speaker 5: And I was like, Oh God damn it. You know?
- 1:45:30Speaker 5: And so again, I, I could see also why people
- 1:45:33Speaker 5: bitched about that maybe, but I don't know. I, I
- 1:45:36Speaker 5: didn't think the movie was terrible and I was not
- 1:45:39Speaker 5: expecting much.
- 1:45:39Speaker 3: I'm glad somebody finally, cause I, I remember when it,
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: finally came out or well I mean I saw it
- 1:45:46Speaker 3: and then like when it came out and it was
- 1:45:48Speaker 3: like almost immediately cheap so I think somewhere on DVD
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: I have a copy of it just because I was
- 1:45:54Speaker 3: like I don't know I got the rest of them
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: why would I not so like yeah I haven't watched
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: it since I bought it and I'm like I think
- 1:46:00Speaker 3: back on it and I'm like there's parts of it
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: I think I really remember were pretty cool like the
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: whole graveyard scene and fighting the skeleton guys and I'm
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: like that was pretty, that was very Indiana Jones. Like
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: I kind of want to go back and watch the
- 1:46:14Speaker 3: good parts of it too.
- 1:46:15Speaker 5: Totally. Like, like that was a hot set right there. Like,
- 1:46:17Speaker 5: and the movie still had a lot of that, like
- 1:46:20Speaker 5: a lot of moments. But then again, I also, there
- 1:46:22Speaker 5: were lots of moments where I was laughing, like out loud,
- 1:46:26Speaker 5: like straight laughing, like, come on. Because, you know, like
- 1:46:30Speaker 5: when they introduce new rules and then they don't follow
- 1:46:34Speaker 5: the rules they introduced, like with the whole tossing gunpowder
- 1:46:38Speaker 5: in the air and letting it magnetize, you know, towards
- 1:46:41Speaker 5: where the right crate was in a warehouse. It's like, OK,
- 1:46:47Speaker 5: but so in some scenes, metal and everything is like
- 1:46:51Speaker 5: clinging and warping towards this one thing. but a minute ago,
- 1:46:56Speaker 5: nobody felt anything. And you know, like, I don't know,
- 1:47:00Speaker 5: they introduced this magnetic pole thing early in the movie,
- 1:47:04Speaker 5: like right in the beginning. And then by the end
- 1:47:07Speaker 5: of the movie, they're using it again. And it just
- 1:47:11Speaker 5: doesn't work. It doesn't fit into its own rules that they,
- 1:47:15Speaker 5: that they have established, you know? And that, and that's
- 1:47:17Speaker 5: another thing where I'm like, man, you got, it's tricky.
- 1:47:20Speaker 3: It's like, it's so hard to get a movie, right? Like,
- 1:47:25Speaker 3: and that's what I find fascinating is when we do
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: get them. Cause I say that all the time. The
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: fact that any movie comes out good is a miracle.
- 1:47:34Speaker 3: Like the amount of movie parts and things that could
- 1:47:37Speaker 3: go wrong that, you know, the fact that somehow you
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: fix all those problems and salvage a movie that's watchable
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: out of it is great. But like, when you look
- 1:47:47Speaker 3: at something like that, like, that is the biggest director
- 1:47:51Speaker 3: in the world. The biggest executive producer in the world,
- 1:47:54Speaker 3: the unlimited budget. One of the biggest names in the
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: industry is your star. Like you have everything handed to you.
- 1:48:02Speaker 3: And still with all of that, like it gets, it
- 1:48:07Speaker 3: gets fumbled. You know, it's like, you still end up going, oops,
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: that one didn't work out. Did it?
- 1:48:12Speaker 5: And I will say this though, you, you just hit
- 1:48:14Speaker 5: the nail on the head though. They were in charge
- 1:48:16Speaker 5: of everything. So like, You know, when you when you
- 1:48:19Speaker 5: hear about, uh, some of our favorite films, man, like we're,
- 1:48:24Speaker 5: we're not meant to be the way that they came
- 1:48:26Speaker 5: out because there were other people in charge and that
- 1:48:30Speaker 5: held the reins and they were like, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:48:33Speaker 5: This doesn't work. So you're going to do it differently.
- 1:48:36Speaker 5: You know what I mean? And then they forced the
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: writer and they forced the director to, into re-imagining something
- 1:48:42Speaker 5: or to redoing this or into adding something that they
- 1:48:44Speaker 5: didn't originally want. And then the movie becomes the thing
- 1:48:47Speaker 5: we all fell in love with.
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: Well, I have a perfect example. And not only is
- 1:48:53Speaker 3: it perfect, it's extra perfect because it's the same director, Jaws.
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: The reason Jaws is so good is because most of
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: the movie, you don't see the shark. you know the
- 1:49:06Speaker 3: reason because the shark didn't work because the shark was
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: a nightmare and he had to be super creative and
- 1:49:13Speaker 3: work okay well let's rewrite this scene so that we
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: just see the person get killed and then we don't
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: see the shark and then right we'll save the shark
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: for a big finale or whatever but like the reason
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: that that movie is so suspenseful and works so well
- 1:49:26Speaker 3: is because we don't see the shark yep had he
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: done it the way he wanted it when he envisioned
- 1:49:32Speaker 3: and and wrote the screenplay or you know all of
- 1:49:35Speaker 3: the stuff that was originally laid out was the shark
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: was in there no whole damn time right.
- 1:49:40Speaker 5: Right and imagine if he were if he was able
- 1:49:43Speaker 5: to go through and redo it now you know how
- 1:49:45Speaker 5: many cg cartoony because i mean dude they did the
- 1:49:49Speaker 5: same thing with et when they re-released that uh you know,
- 1:49:53Speaker 5: and they went through and added, uh, we.
- 1:49:55Speaker 3: Really needed those walkie talkies. Come on now.
- 1:49:57Speaker 5: Well, I'm not even, yeah, I'm not even complaining about
- 1:50:00Speaker 5: that part yet. I'm talking, even when they added like
- 1:50:03Speaker 5: him in the bathtub, like ET in the bathtub, they
- 1:50:06Speaker 5: added a few different scenes that were just completely unnecessary.
- 1:50:09Speaker 5: And it almost looked like, like the animation from like
- 1:50:13Speaker 5: a Kool-Aid commercial at the time or something. Yeah. Or
- 1:50:17Speaker 5: like gushers, you know, like something like that, because it
- 1:50:20Speaker 5: was just, it felt really out of place, but it
- 1:50:23Speaker 5: felt like, Oh, okay. So now he's got a budget.
- 1:50:25Speaker 5: He can throw in some, some CG shit here. And then,
- 1:50:28Speaker 5: you know, it just, I don't know. It loses its
- 1:50:31Speaker 5: realistic feel because it wasn't the puppet. It wasn't the
- 1:50:34Speaker 5: thing that he was, you know, using throughout the other,
- 1:50:36Speaker 5: the rest of the movie.
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:50:39Speaker 5: But he just had that option. Hey, you get to
- 1:50:41Speaker 5: redo it. You get to touch it up and add
- 1:50:42Speaker 5: all this new slick shit.
- 1:50:43Speaker 3: Yeah. That's why I try to figure out where the
- 1:50:46Speaker 3: dividing line is because I've always said like, you know, being, being,
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: a broke filmmaker makes you super creative. And we always
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: get these like real works of art that are probably
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: really early in the director's career. you look at even like,
- 1:51:01Speaker 3: you know, I mean, it was several years later by
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: the time he's doing last crusade, he's got all the
- 1:51:07Speaker 3: money he needs. It's the same director. It's the same
- 1:51:10Speaker 3: story by executive producer. So why does that work? But
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: you give it an extra 15, 20 years and let
- 1:51:16Speaker 3: them do it again. And it just misses across the board.
- 1:51:20Speaker 3: Like we'll see.
- 1:51:20Speaker 5: Now you're also talking about 20 years of age and, and, and,
- 1:51:29Speaker 5: A lot of times, man, and it's not to say
- 1:51:31Speaker 5: that people can't stay current and can't stay up on
- 1:51:34Speaker 5: things because a lot of creators have proven that they can,
- 1:51:38Speaker 5: you know, even in older years and, you know, later
- 1:51:41Speaker 5: in their life. But imagine like, you know, there are
- 1:51:45Speaker 5: musicians that change their entire style because something in their
- 1:51:48Speaker 5: life happens or something, you know, what did they say that?
- 1:51:53Speaker 5: the reason that Temple of Doom was so dark anyway
- 1:51:56Speaker 5: was because they, you know, George Lucas was in a
- 1:51:59Speaker 5: bad place in his life and Steven Spielberg had just
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: gotten divorced.
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:52:05Speaker 5: Yep. Again, again, I really feel like, you know, the
- 1:52:08Speaker 5: Steven Spielberg that made Last Crusade is probably not the
- 1:52:11Speaker 5: same Steven Spielberg that made Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
- 1:52:15Speaker 3: Well, definitely not. Cause he, like he, when you look
- 1:52:18Speaker 3: at the ones he's making now, you don't have that.
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: like there's the stuff that he's making now is usually
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: like people being responsible parents versus when he was young,
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: like he had no problem doing like, because he was like,
- 1:52:35Speaker 3: all of his were coming out of this, you know,
- 1:52:36Speaker 3: broken home and trying to tell a realistic story about
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: a family that's in a bad position. You know, it's
- 1:52:42Speaker 3: like he was coming from that, whereas he's done nothing
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: but be with his child the whole time. So like
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: now he can't be that guy anymore. Like he doesn't
- 1:52:51Speaker 3: know how, there's no, they've said this for years. Like
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: they know spoilers for close encounters, but like, I'm assuming
- 1:52:58Speaker 3: you know the Indian. Well, the guy is a father.
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: We watched him with his kids, the entire movie. He
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: gets on that ship and flies away. He leaves his
- 1:53:09Speaker 3: children behind. And like, there's no way Steven Spielberg now
- 1:53:14Speaker 3: could ever conceive of making that movie. Yeah. Because he's
- 1:53:18Speaker 3: in a different place in his life. And like, that's,
- 1:53:21Speaker 3: And that's technically, like, that's also even the technology angle
- 1:53:25Speaker 3: of it coming into play kind of makes that worse.
- 1:53:28Speaker 5: Of course, dude, of course.
- 1:53:30Speaker 3: Because to me, you know, I still marvel at how
- 1:53:33Speaker 3: good that first Jurassic Park is. The second one just doesn't.
- 1:53:38Speaker 3: feel the same it just doesn't hit that that that
- 1:53:42Speaker 3: place that the first one does even though it's not
- 1:53:44Speaker 3: that much time but by the second one he's he's
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: got his family he's dealing with like he wants to
- 1:53:51Speaker 3: be with his family they were the way i heard
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: it was they had just at that point gotten to
- 1:53:57Speaker 3: the point where they could like hook it up and
- 1:53:59Speaker 3: like have a camera running so he could actually be
- 1:54:02Speaker 3: at home talking to them like through a laptop or
- 1:54:05Speaker 3: something so half of the scenes he was sitting at
- 1:54:08Speaker 3: home with his kids and telling them oh no um
- 1:54:11Speaker 3: shoot that again yeah yeah he wasn't even on set
- 1:54:14Speaker 3: a lot of the time because he wanted to be
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: home with his kids and there was a technology thing
- 1:54:19Speaker 3: suddenly that he could do that and so he's literally
- 1:54:23Speaker 3: phoning it in And you feel it when you watch
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: that movie. It's just not as good.
- 1:54:29Speaker 5: Well, see, I'm in the camp that I enjoyed the
- 1:54:32Speaker 5: second movie. Once it got to the third movie, I
- 1:54:36Speaker 5: was done.
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: Well, by then, he's not even directing anymore. I guess
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: he's still slapping his name on it. But that second
- 1:54:41Speaker 3: one he directed, but you still feel a disconnect compared
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: to that first movie.
- 1:54:46Speaker 5: I get that. No, I mean, it felt like a
- 1:54:48Speaker 5: different movie, but it was still one of those movies that,
- 1:54:51Speaker 5: I mean, I've rewatched it multiple times. I enjoy the movie.
- 1:54:54Speaker 5: There's lots of scenes that I consider classic moments, you know,
- 1:54:58Speaker 5: and not completely cheeseball. Like, you know, in, oh, man,
- 1:55:04Speaker 5: what was that last Jurassic World? Like, it wasn't the
- 1:55:08Speaker 5: first one with Channing Tatum.
- 1:55:09Speaker 3: It was the second one.
- 1:55:11Speaker 5: Or not Channing Tatum. Yeah.
- 1:55:12Speaker 3: I was like, wait a minute.
- 1:55:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:55:14Speaker 9: I know.
- 1:55:14Speaker 5: I'm like the other blonde hung.
- 1:55:16Speaker 3: Uh, what's the other Chris, Chris Pratt.
- 1:55:18Speaker 5: Chris Pratt. Yeah. Uh, so like it was the second
- 1:55:23Speaker 5: one with him. I could not believe how much I
- 1:55:25Speaker 5: didn't like it. And the first one with him, I
- 1:55:28Speaker 5: thought was pretty good.
- 1:55:29Speaker 3: Like, They do some interesting things in that first one that,
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: that like more than you would expect it, you would want,
- 1:55:37Speaker 3: you would assume it's just going to be like a
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: rehash and, but like they find a way to make
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: some interesting like comments on the movie itself, the first movie,
- 1:55:46Speaker 3: like it does more than you would expect something like
- 1:55:49Speaker 3: that to do.
- 1:55:49Speaker 5: Yeah, totally. Plus it finally delivers on the, the fantasy
- 1:55:53Speaker 5: that everyone had of seeing a fully functional park, you
- 1:55:57Speaker 5: know what I mean? A fully functional park. uh, theme park.
- 1:56:00Speaker 5: And then you get that, that big feel that, that big, uh,
- 1:56:03Speaker 5: that epic disaster feel, you know, it's almost like, like, uh,
- 1:56:07Speaker 5: in piranha 3d, the feeling that they, I mean, again,
- 1:56:10Speaker 5: there's a lot of people that hate on that movie,
- 1:56:12Speaker 5: but that movie is hilariously like it is what, I mean,
- 1:56:17Speaker 5: it is very self-aware.
- 1:56:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:56:18Speaker 3: I was going to say that one knows it's being
- 1:56:21Speaker 3: hilarious and fine with it.
- 1:56:23Speaker 5: But I, I, I'm only comparing the feel of when
- 1:56:26Speaker 5: they set up for the stage, uh, of, oh, wow,
- 1:56:31Speaker 5: this is a huge spring break thing. All these people
- 1:56:33Speaker 5: are out partying. They're all having a good time. This
- 1:56:36Speaker 5: is like beaches, water, boats, music, everything. And you know
- 1:56:42Speaker 5: that this prehistoric basically disaster, that this massacre is heading
- 1:56:48Speaker 5: towards this huge populated, fun, happy-go-lucky. And everything that is
- 1:56:53Speaker 5: crystal clear and blue is about to get red and
- 1:56:56Speaker 5: just crazy. You know, and that's the feel that I
- 1:56:59Speaker 5: got in that in that whatever Jurassic world, I guess. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:57:03Speaker 5: Where it was just like, man, you know, the movie
- 1:57:06Speaker 5: felt fun and it felt like Jurassic Park reimagined, you know,
- 1:57:12Speaker 5: while still bringing it up to speed and giving us
- 1:57:14Speaker 5: a lot of new moments. And so that's why, man,
- 1:57:16Speaker 5: I was not expecting much at all from that movie
- 1:57:19Speaker 5: and ended up liking it. But then the second one,
- 1:57:22Speaker 5: whatever it was called, it was just like, oh, God,
- 1:57:25Speaker 5: I don't even know what they were doing. And it
- 1:57:27Speaker 5: was almost to the point where I hope they weren't
- 1:57:29Speaker 5: going to make another one.
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: I don't know. Once you get that franchise rolling, it's
- 1:57:34Speaker 3: hard to stop them.
- 1:57:36Speaker 5: Well, did you see the second one? I mean, I did.
- 1:57:39Speaker 3: That's the thing. Like to me, I guess that says
- 1:57:41Speaker 3: a lot about it that I'm like, I kind of
- 1:57:43Speaker 3: can't even remember the basic.
- 1:57:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:57:47Speaker 3: Like, whereas I do remember Jurassic world, but like the
- 1:57:51Speaker 3: second one, I'm like, I remember a, horror scene with
- 1:57:55Speaker 3: the brontosaurus or brachiosaurus or like right i remember that
- 1:57:59Speaker 3: and like that stuck with me because that is a
- 1:58:01Speaker 3: horrific scene but like other than that i'm like i
- 1:58:05Speaker 3: don't really even remember a lot of what was going.
- 1:58:07Speaker 5: On yeah see and you know now that i'm like
- 1:58:09Speaker 5: sitting here and to pull up the parts I didn't
- 1:58:11Speaker 5: like in my brain I'm like yeah I'm actually drawing
- 1:58:13Speaker 5: a blank because I'm like I.
- 1:58:16Speaker 3: Think that says a lot about it yeah I know.
- 1:58:18Speaker 5: I watched it once and I was like I feel
- 1:58:20Speaker 5: like I remember waiting for it to end like, like
- 1:58:24Speaker 5: going like, Oh my God, does this movie still have
- 1:58:26Speaker 5: 40 fucking minutes? You know, whereas in Jurassic world, I mean,
- 1:58:31Speaker 5: I feel like I saw that one in the theater
- 1:58:32Speaker 5: and it was fun, you know? Yeah. Yeah. I don't know.
- 1:58:37Speaker 5: But again, I see what you're saying as far as
- 1:58:40Speaker 5: that second film from Spielberg being different because he was
- 1:58:44Speaker 5: literally not there.
- 1:58:46Speaker 3: Yeah, because it became easier. Again, the younger version of his,
- 1:58:51Speaker 3: I think, would have never even considered doing that. But also,
- 1:58:54Speaker 3: there was no technological way for that to happen. So
- 1:58:59Speaker 3: both have changed so much. Yeah, in 20 years, it's
- 1:59:03Speaker 3: like technology changes, makes things easier to do.
- 1:59:06Speaker 5: And you're 20 years.
- 1:59:08Speaker 3: Into your career, and you're just like, eh, I don't
- 1:59:10Speaker 3: really have those scraps to get by anymore. Yeah.
- 1:59:13Speaker 5: Dude, that's exactly it. Or if somebody were to tell you, oh, no,
- 1:59:17Speaker 5: I don't like that ending. You're going to be like,
- 1:59:19Speaker 5: I'm sorry. I'm fucking Steven Spielberg. My homeboy Lucas is
- 1:59:22Speaker 5: making this fucking movie. You can and you will deal
- 1:59:25Speaker 5: with the ending. You know what I mean? Like, I'm
- 1:59:27Speaker 5: sure that they aren't budging on a lot of shit.
- 1:59:30Speaker 5: Whereas probably, you know, they.
- 1:59:33Speaker 3: Told him he was wrong all day, every day. And
- 1:59:35Speaker 3: he was like, all right, fine. I'll try to. fix
- 1:59:38Speaker 3: this and I'll readjust that. And like, he, he was
- 1:59:41Speaker 3: continually being told that he was doing everything wrong and
- 1:59:44Speaker 3: they were going to take the movie away from him.
- 1:59:46Speaker 5: Well, have you seen, have you seen the movie series
- 1:59:48Speaker 5: that they've got? I think there's only four of them,
- 1:59:50Speaker 5: but it's like on Netflix called the movies that made
- 1:59:53Speaker 5: us again.
- 1:59:55Speaker 3: I know the title. I haven't gotten to it yet.
- 1:59:57Speaker 5: Well, man, that, that they're just full of like, they
- 2:00:01Speaker 5: are full of stories exactly like that. And so when you're,
- 2:00:04Speaker 5: when you're watching the thing about home alone, you know,
- 2:00:07Speaker 5: and about how that movie got made. I mean, dude,
- 2:00:09Speaker 5: it's a miracle that we even have that fucking movie. And, uh,
- 2:00:14Speaker 5: and like John Candy, uh, apparently did it for free.
- 2:00:18Speaker 5: He like just did it as a favor to John Hughes.
- 2:00:21Speaker 5: And like, he ended up shooting for like, I think
- 2:00:23Speaker 5: they said 26 hours and he just, he told him, Hey,
- 2:00:27Speaker 5: you can have one day. And so he went and
- 2:00:29Speaker 5: filmed for, I don't know, you just find out all
- 2:00:31Speaker 5: these things, but then you find out things that the
- 2:00:33Speaker 5: studio was like, Oh no, we're not going to have
- 2:00:35Speaker 5: them do that. And Nope, they can't do this. And
- 2:00:37Speaker 5: then they're like, Oh fuck. So then they rewrite something
- 2:00:40Speaker 5: and that becomes the most classic moment. You know what
- 2:00:42Speaker 5: I mean? And so again, when, when there's no, when
- 2:00:46Speaker 5: there's no obstacle and nothing standing in your way and
- 2:00:50Speaker 5: you're able to do anything you want, I feel like
- 2:00:53Speaker 5: same with musicians, man. I feel like sometimes that's when they're,
- 2:00:56Speaker 5: they're at their worst. I mean, sometimes they can be
- 2:00:58Speaker 5: at their best, but then, man oh man sometimes.
- 2:01:02Speaker 3: Yeah I mean that holds true I think the same
- 2:01:04Speaker 3: thing is like when I think of the classic albums
- 2:01:07Speaker 3: like a lot of them are the first album that
- 2:01:10Speaker 3: they came out with or maybe the first or you
- 2:01:13Speaker 3: know at the first couple of years but like it's
- 2:01:16Speaker 3: rare that it's and then 30 years in they came
- 2:01:19Speaker 3: out with this great album it's usually like oh god
- 2:01:21Speaker 3: they're still making stuff like right well sometimes sometimes not
- 2:01:26Speaker 3: always but yeah.
- 2:01:28Speaker 5: Yeah Sometimes it works out fine. But then sometimes you're
- 2:01:31Speaker 5: just a band phoning the shit in and it sounds
- 2:01:34Speaker 5: worse and worse and worse.
- 2:01:35Speaker 3: And directors. Yeah. It's like, there are ones that it's
- 2:01:38Speaker 3: amazing that they'll still be knocking out solid stuff that
- 2:01:41Speaker 3: far into their career. And there's other people that a
- 2:01:44Speaker 3: decade in and you're like, Ooh, well they're wrapping it up.
- 2:01:47Speaker 3: Like we can already see them phone in the van.
- 2:01:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:01:51Speaker 5: There have been some people that I have been so
- 2:01:53Speaker 5: excited for just to see their career go. And then
- 2:01:55Speaker 5: suddenly it's like, wait, wait, what are they doing?
- 2:01:57Speaker 7: Wait, no.
- 2:01:58Speaker 5: And then suddenly you're just like, Oh, all right. I
- 2:02:01Speaker 5: guess they're the producer of their own remake now. And
- 2:02:04Speaker 5: I guess they're, I don't know. It gets, yeah. Sometimes
- 2:02:08Speaker 5: you just watch, but again, man, it's up to each person,
- 2:02:12Speaker 5: you know, like some people are meant to do this
- 2:02:16Speaker 5: and some people are meant to have a few good
- 2:02:17Speaker 5: things and then they, then they fizzle out.
- 2:02:20Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, you, you, like I said, any movie
- 2:02:23Speaker 3: comes together is amazing. So like, as a fan, you just,
- 2:02:28Speaker 3: appreciate the good ones that do and like have fun
- 2:02:30Speaker 3: with the ones that don't, if you're lucky.
- 2:02:32Speaker 5: So, yeah. Well, and I can even, I can even
- 2:02:35Speaker 5: appreciate a lot of movies that even if I don't
- 2:02:37Speaker 5: care for them, you know, I can go, well, look, dude, honestly,
- 2:02:42Speaker 5: sometimes they have good performances. Sometimes, uh, I, I know
- 2:02:45Speaker 5: the background behind the movie. I'm like, yo, uh, these
- 2:02:47Speaker 5: guys were hating life. The, you know, like this movie
- 2:02:51Speaker 5: shouldn't even have been made or whatever it is.
- 2:02:53Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:02:54Speaker 3: I will give, I will give points for scope and
- 2:02:57Speaker 3: spectacle and like, When you're swinging for the fences, even
- 2:03:01Speaker 3: when you miss, and it's a big miss, the fact
- 2:03:04Speaker 3: that you made this train wreck, sometimes that's easily as
- 2:03:10Speaker 3: interesting as if it would have come together the way
- 2:03:12Speaker 3: that you hope it would.
- 2:03:14Speaker 5: I will say, let me go in the opposite direction
- 2:03:17Speaker 5: of that. Have you seen Jay and Silent Bob reboot?
- 2:03:24Speaker 7: Oh, wow.
- 2:03:25Speaker 3: I just watched it last week.
- 2:03:29Speaker 5: Oh God. Uh, dude, listen, man.
- 2:03:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:03:34Speaker 5: I'm interested to hear your thoughts. Like, did you, did
- 2:03:38Speaker 5: you enjoy his other movies like back in the day?
- 2:03:39Speaker 3: And that's the thing. I was a huge fan when
- 2:03:42Speaker 3: he started. Like, I like it was, yeah, I, it,
- 2:03:47Speaker 3: it really did like for a lot of filmmakers. Cause
- 2:03:49Speaker 3: you saw a lot of people ripping off what he
- 2:03:51Speaker 3: was doing, but like he was, he was part of
- 2:03:53Speaker 3: that early to mid nineties. Like, movement that like changed
- 2:03:59Speaker 3: movies like yep tarantino's the forefront of it but but
- 2:04:03Speaker 3: kevin smith was like right there behind him and like
- 2:04:05Speaker 3: a lot of things that came after were mimicking what
- 2:04:08Speaker 3: they did that that worked and like so i was
- 2:04:11Speaker 3: so on board with like again i i think i
- 2:04:15Speaker 3: think clerks is amazing i i still stand by chasing
- 2:04:19Speaker 3: amy i love the screenplay and the performances mall rats
- 2:04:23Speaker 3: is fun it's ridiculous but you see you already see
- 2:04:26Speaker 3: the seed right there of like how wrong it could
- 2:04:30Speaker 3: go very.
- 2:04:30Speaker 5: Easily well but see i love mall rats is still
- 2:04:34Speaker 5: a cherished movie for me because i i mean i
- 2:04:37Speaker 5: that was the first time i ever cut school it
- 2:04:39Speaker 5: was my 17th birthday and i was old enough to
- 2:04:41Speaker 5: go see a rated r movie so i.
- 2:04:46Speaker 3: I mean, there's still parts of it I love. There's
- 2:04:48Speaker 3: still performances I love, but you can find the flaws
- 2:04:52Speaker 3: in that one. Of course, of course. Laringly. So like,
- 2:04:55Speaker 3: but it's funny that I see that same stuff come
- 2:04:58Speaker 3: through now in the more recent stuff. And like, there
- 2:05:01Speaker 3: is nothing else holding it together. Like it's all of
- 2:05:04Speaker 3: those flaws times 10 and it becomes.
- 2:05:06Speaker 5: Oh, that's all it was. That's all it was.
- 2:05:09Speaker 3: So that's the thing. But so I didn't even, I
- 2:05:13Speaker 3: couldn't even bring myself to watch that last. whatever the
- 2:05:16Speaker 3: hell it was. Like I just saw the trailer and
- 2:05:18Speaker 3: wanted to stab my eyes out.
- 2:05:20Speaker 5: I was like, Oh, wait a minute. Wait, wait, wait. The,
- 2:05:22Speaker 5: the reboot one.
- 2:05:23Speaker 3: No, the one before that.
- 2:05:25Speaker 5: Uh, what was the one before that?
- 2:05:29Speaker 3: Oh God. Let me look it up. Cause I blocked it.
- 2:05:32Speaker 5: Wait a minute. I, I know.
- 2:05:33Speaker 3: Convenience store girls.
- 2:05:35Speaker 5: Yes, yes, yes. That, that was, uh, okay. Well now,
- 2:05:38Speaker 5: wait a minute. That, that movie he made for kids, uh, And.
- 2:05:43Speaker 3: I don't like I was so angry coming off of
- 2:05:46Speaker 3: Tusk that by the time by the time we got
- 2:05:50Speaker 3: the yoga hosers, I was like, I can't I can't
- 2:05:52Speaker 3: do it. I can't even. OK, OK.
- 2:05:54Speaker 5: I will say Tusk was Tusk is one of those
- 2:05:57Speaker 5: movies that I give him mad credit for because it
- 2:06:02Speaker 5: started off as a joke. And it was on a
- 2:06:05Speaker 5: podcast where they made a joke about making a movie
- 2:06:07Speaker 5: about this this guy. And then it turned into, oh
- 2:06:10Speaker 5: my God, dude, we should totally make a movie and
- 2:06:12Speaker 5: make it just like... And then they asked people, hey,
- 2:06:15Speaker 5: would you ever want to see a movie like this?
- 2:06:16Speaker 5: And whatever. And then they got it made. And I
- 2:06:19Speaker 5: think they did, especially with the actors they chose, I
- 2:06:23Speaker 5: think they did as good a job as anyone could
- 2:06:25Speaker 5: do with that kind of a plot. And then I
- 2:06:28Speaker 5: feel like the ending of the movie is the only
- 2:06:30Speaker 5: thing that destroyed it for me. And... But that's, that's the,
- 2:06:34Speaker 5: I feel the same way about high tension. And I
- 2:06:36Speaker 5: consider high tension. One of my favorite horror movies where
- 2:06:40Speaker 5: I just feel like the ending, the very end is
- 2:06:42Speaker 5: a piece of shit ending. And, but at the same
- 2:06:45Speaker 5: time in the credits of Tusk, they play the podcast
- 2:06:50Speaker 5: that leads to the movie. And the ending, they mention
- 2:06:54Speaker 5: it in the podcast as the joke. They're like, but
- 2:06:56Speaker 5: at the end, he's got to like have him in
- 2:06:58Speaker 5: like some sort of a zoo or something. And like
- 2:07:00Speaker 5: they play the full podcast during the credits or they
- 2:07:04Speaker 5: play that full segment that led to the movie. And
- 2:07:06Speaker 5: so that's.
- 2:07:08Speaker 3: To me, that's one of those examples. The thing is,
- 2:07:12Speaker 3: I was there for that. Again, I still liked him enough.
- 2:07:16Speaker 3: I was listening to several of his podcasts when he
- 2:07:20Speaker 3: crossed over into that. So when that first aired... I
- 2:07:24Speaker 3: listened to it that week. I heard the story as
- 2:07:26Speaker 3: Ian and Scott were telling it. And I'm just like,
- 2:07:30Speaker 3: this is a great episode. I love it. So to me,
- 2:07:32Speaker 3: I was like, by the time I watched the movie,
- 2:07:35Speaker 3: at best, I was like, I already know all this.
- 2:07:38Speaker 3: I already know the plot.
- 2:07:39Speaker 5: Beat for beat.
- 2:07:40Speaker 3: I get it. So at best, it's a rehash. And like,
- 2:07:45Speaker 3: so this is one of those that like, I feel
- 2:07:46Speaker 3: like the story of it is by far more interesting
- 2:07:50Speaker 3: than the movie that came out of it.
- 2:07:52Speaker 7: Right.
- 2:07:52Speaker 3: He should have just capped it at the podcast and went,
- 2:07:55Speaker 3: this is a great episode where we came up with
- 2:07:57Speaker 3: this crazy idea for a movie. You didn't need. to
- 2:08:00Speaker 3: make the movie like the episode was the best part.
- 2:08:03Speaker 5: Well but see now getting to see justin long in
- 2:08:06Speaker 5: that freaking suit was hilarious and i feel like i
- 2:08:10Speaker 5: feel like he writes really like like when he has
- 2:08:13Speaker 5: something to say about anything i feel like he can
- 2:08:15Speaker 5: write something uh compelling Yeah, definitely. Did you see Red State?
- 2:08:21Speaker 3: That's my only weird one-off. I think Red State is great. Dude,
- 2:08:26Speaker 3: I think Red State is brilliant. I think it's maybe
- 2:08:29Speaker 3: the best directing he's ever done because he has visual style,
- 2:08:33Speaker 3: the camera moves. He makes his own jokes about the
- 2:08:36Speaker 3: fact that the camera never moves in his movies. So finally,
- 2:08:40Speaker 3: I was like, oh, he's... Because at that point, he'd
- 2:08:42Speaker 3: almost given up as a filmmaker. He was already going
- 2:08:44Speaker 3: to retire.
- 2:08:45Speaker 5: Oh, I feel the same way, dude.
- 2:08:46Speaker 3: And he came out and made Red State. And I
- 2:08:48Speaker 3: was like, okay, maybe he's back. He's got his second
- 2:08:52Speaker 3: wind and he's going to really be a really cool
- 2:08:54Speaker 3: and innovative filmmaker again. And then he followed it up
- 2:08:58Speaker 3: with Tusk. And I'm like, I'm done. I'm done.
- 2:09:02Speaker 5: No, I got you. And again, that's why I felt
- 2:09:06Speaker 5: like he brought a lot of tension to it. And
- 2:09:08Speaker 5: I did not listen to the podcast that led to it.
- 2:09:10Speaker 5: I didn't know anything other than This was a Kevin
- 2:09:13Speaker 5: Smith horror movie about a guy being turned into a walrus.
- 2:09:16Speaker 5: And that's all I heard. And that's all I knew.
- 2:09:19Speaker 5: And so again, I, when I heard that Kevin Smith
- 2:09:22Speaker 5: was doing a horror movie about radio with red state,
- 2:09:25Speaker 5: I was already like, wait, what? He's doing a horror movie,
- 2:09:27Speaker 5: you know? And then, uh, I loved it. And so
- 2:09:30Speaker 5: I went into it with kind of open arms and
- 2:09:32Speaker 5: I will say the only thing aside from the ending
- 2:09:35Speaker 5: that drove me absolutely nuts was I fucking hate it.
- 2:09:41Speaker 5: I cannot stand Johnny Depp.
- 2:09:45Speaker 3: That's the other, like to me, that's the part I
- 2:09:47Speaker 3: was just like, like I was, again, I was already
- 2:09:50Speaker 3: kind of bored with the plot because I knew it all.
- 2:09:52Speaker 3: But then when you like ham fisted, shove this horribly
- 2:09:57Speaker 3: made up Johnny Depp over the top performance into it,
- 2:10:00Speaker 3: I'm just like, what the fuck is going on?
- 2:10:03Speaker 5: I cannot.
- 2:10:05Speaker 3: In this like right to me the only bright spot
- 2:10:09Speaker 3: michael parks is amazing like i think even in this
- 2:10:12Speaker 3: ridiculous movie michael arts was.
- 2:10:15Speaker 5: Brilliant like that's what i'm saying.
- 2:10:17Speaker 3: As a as an actor he was always nailing it
- 2:10:20Speaker 3: no matter what terrible movie he got shoved into like.
- 2:10:23Speaker 5: Yeah so like i do yeah i do feel like
- 2:10:27Speaker 5: he he stole the show in so many moments dude
- 2:10:29Speaker 5: oh yeah There were just a, but again, I feel
- 2:10:32Speaker 5: like he was given, he was given insane shit to
- 2:10:34Speaker 5: work with and they pulled it off. And then for
- 2:10:37Speaker 5: what it was, the movie I thought was fine, but
- 2:10:39Speaker 5: it's one of those movies. I I've seen it twice
- 2:10:42Speaker 5: and I don't plan on really rewatching it again. And, and,
- 2:10:46Speaker 5: you know, like dude, and then yoga hosers I saw
- 2:10:48Speaker 5: one time and I was drawing while I was watching it.
- 2:10:51Speaker 5: It was what it was. It was like, it was
- 2:10:53Speaker 5: something I could never recommend to anybody. But I'm also like, dude,
- 2:10:58Speaker 5: I don't care, man. Some of my drawings are shit.
- 2:11:01Speaker 5: Some of my favorite artists put out the worst music.
- 2:11:03Speaker 5: You know what I mean? But then they follow it
- 2:11:05Speaker 5: up with something I enjoy. So it's like, whatever. The reboot, though. Dude, I...
- 2:11:14Speaker 5: jess and i turned it off after about 10 minutes
- 2:11:17Speaker 5: 50 or maybe maybe 15 or 20 minutes we we
- 2:11:19Speaker 5: made it at one point it was like oh my
- 2:11:21Speaker 5: fucking god how much can he suck his own dick
- 2:11:25Speaker 5: in one movie and not make a joke.
- 2:11:27Speaker 3: That's the problem it just became because even they already
- 2:11:31Speaker 3: started getting into that that's why i think those first
- 2:11:34Speaker 3: three maybe the fourth one i think I think dogma
- 2:11:38Speaker 3: could have been a great movie without Jay and silent Bob.
- 2:11:40Speaker 3: I think it's got amazing ideas in it. And then
- 2:11:43Speaker 3: it's got Jay and silent Bob tripping over things and like,
- 2:11:46Speaker 3: it just be an idiots the whole time. And I'm like,
- 2:11:48Speaker 3: you know, if you took them out of this, this
- 2:11:50Speaker 3: could be a really interesting movie. But so like outside
- 2:11:54Speaker 3: of that, by the time they get the Jay and
- 2:11:56Speaker 3: Silent Bob strike back, it already became so many in
- 2:11:59Speaker 3: jokes in their own little universe that I'm like, it
- 2:12:02Speaker 3: barely had a plot then. So like this is that
- 2:12:06Speaker 3: times 10. This is that with the last couple of decades,
- 2:12:11Speaker 3: however freaking long it's been since we started this process.
- 2:12:15Speaker 3: Like it's just so inside its own self that there
- 2:12:20Speaker 3: can't be a joke. They're just references. They're just constant
- 2:12:23Speaker 3: references to his other stuff.
- 2:12:26Speaker 5: The only thing I could compare it to was like the,
- 2:12:29Speaker 5: the 30 minutes I've seen of like Epic movie or
- 2:12:31Speaker 5: date movie or whatever the one it was where it
- 2:12:34Speaker 5: was like, these, these aren't jokes. These are just like
- 2:12:37Speaker 5: callbacks to a movie or, or this is just dressing
- 2:12:40Speaker 5: somebody up like Spider-Man and hitting them with a frying pan.
- 2:12:42Speaker 3: Like it does.
- 2:12:43Speaker 5: It's not a joke. And that's all Silent Bob reboot was.
- 2:12:48Speaker 3: I mean, I watched it in its entirety. And by
- 2:12:53Speaker 3: the end, I'm like, I'm kind of glad I saw it.
- 2:12:56Speaker 5: Oh, wait, wait. I meant to preface it. I finished
- 2:13:00Speaker 5: the movie.
- 2:13:01Speaker 3: Okay, okay.
- 2:13:01Speaker 5: We watched the first 20 minutes together. And then I
- 2:13:04Speaker 5: finished watching it later on that night when I was working.
- 2:13:06Speaker 5: Because I still was like, no, no, no. I love
- 2:13:09Speaker 5: Kevin Smith.
- 2:13:10Speaker 3: I owe it.
- 2:13:10Speaker 5: I do want to see this through. And yeah, now
- 2:13:15Speaker 5: you can go. I just don't want you to think
- 2:13:16Speaker 5: that I, I turned it off and, and then I'm,
- 2:13:18Speaker 5: I'm talking about the movie. Like I finished it, but
- 2:13:21Speaker 5: I literally finished it.
- 2:13:23Speaker 3: Well, then that was my thing. It's like, I, by
- 2:13:25Speaker 3: the end, I'm like, well, I'm glad I've seen it
- 2:13:27Speaker 3: because I just wanted to see the, the rest. Like I, again,
- 2:13:32Speaker 3: I had such ties to those original couple of movies,
- 2:13:36Speaker 3: if not the first four or so that I'm like, I,
- 2:13:39Speaker 3: I at least want to see, I'm like, did, did
- 2:13:40Speaker 3: he get everybody to come back? Like, I wanted to
- 2:13:42Speaker 3: see what they did with them. Like, so as a,
- 2:13:44Speaker 3: as a Kevin, as an old school, Kevin Smith geek,
- 2:13:47Speaker 3: I was like, I at least want to see what
- 2:13:49Speaker 3: they do. And there are moments like that. There are
- 2:13:54Speaker 3: times by the time they get to the end where
- 2:13:56Speaker 3: they're sort of commenting because since he's become a thing,
- 2:14:00Speaker 3: like the convention world has erupted that didn't exist when
- 2:14:04Speaker 3: I started. So like sometimes the jokes in there, I'm like, okay,
- 2:14:07Speaker 3: you're just kind of making fun of the new like
- 2:14:11Speaker 3: community that's built up around this. Like that's fun. Or
- 2:14:14Speaker 3: the fact that he's playing himself at a convention. Like
- 2:14:18Speaker 3: there are moments there where I'm like, this could be
- 2:14:20Speaker 3: really clever. If you took about 90% of what's going
- 2:14:23Speaker 3: on here out of the way, you've got a decent
- 2:14:26Speaker 3: concept of something that could be clever and And instead
- 2:14:29Speaker 3: you're just piling too much shit on at the same time.
- 2:14:32Speaker 5: Well, and also not even like, not even jokes. Like,
- 2:14:36Speaker 5: like again, the lack of material, like when he's up
- 2:14:39Speaker 5: there talking, it could be, it really could have been
- 2:14:42Speaker 5: a funny thing because I was even like, Oh wow.
- 2:14:44Speaker 5: They're doing like a fourth wall, like, like Jameson and
- 2:14:46Speaker 5: Bob in the audience, the real guy on the screen
- 2:14:48Speaker 5: or whatever. But then at the same time, or the
- 2:14:50Speaker 5: real guy on stage, but at the same time, even
- 2:14:52Speaker 5: in that moment, it has to, it had to keep
- 2:14:55Speaker 5: having his daughter lean over and go, I fucking hate
- 2:14:59Speaker 5: this guy. God, we get it. Kevin Smith, you suck
- 2:15:02Speaker 5: at this. And I'm like, okay, okay.
- 2:15:05Speaker 3: We get it.
- 2:15:06Speaker 5: He did it through the entire... They're like, what? It's
- 2:15:09Speaker 5: being directed by fucking Kevin Smith? That fucking piece of...
- 2:15:12Speaker 5: And then they keep... Again, if they did it once,
- 2:15:17Speaker 5: it would be plenty. But the fact that every joke
- 2:15:22Speaker 5: was not a joke. And then I will say, the
- 2:15:26Speaker 5: one redeeming scene.
- 2:15:28Speaker 3: I'm wondering if you're, I was just going to say,
- 2:15:31Speaker 3: going back to if he has something to say, he
- 2:15:34Speaker 3: can say it well. I'm assuming you're going to say
- 2:15:36Speaker 3: the same thing I was about to.
- 2:15:37Speaker 7: Go ahead.
- 2:15:39Speaker 5: Well, no, no, no. I'm probably not.
- 2:15:42Speaker 6: Okay.
- 2:15:43Speaker 5: Because, first of all, this scene really didn't say a
- 2:15:47Speaker 5: whole lot. Well, okay, maybe it did. The scene with
- 2:15:51Speaker 5: our main characters, Jay and Sonic Bob, finally getting a
- 2:15:54Speaker 5: chance to sit and smoke with Method and Redman. you know,
- 2:15:59Speaker 5: but like to me, to me, I was like, Oh wow.
- 2:16:01Speaker 5: That's kind of like, as far as movie crossovers go,
- 2:16:04Speaker 5: that's kind of like a fun stoner film crossover because
- 2:16:08Speaker 5: now you have these two guys that were in a
- 2:16:11Speaker 5: half baked ish style stoner film, you know, and they
- 2:16:15Speaker 5: are known as BFFs and stoners, whatever. So I thought
- 2:16:19Speaker 5: that was like, Oh cool. This is a, this is
- 2:16:21Speaker 5: a great moment. But then Jane saw Bob don't even
- 2:16:24Speaker 5: smoke with them. And it's not even a funny moment.
- 2:16:26Speaker 5: And then you're like, Oh, well shit.
- 2:16:28Speaker 3: I was just like, those two are still out there.
- 2:16:30Speaker 5: Holy shit. I was glad to see that. But now what,
- 2:16:36Speaker 5: what was the scene that you thought I was going
- 2:16:37Speaker 5: to say?
- 2:16:38Speaker 3: No, mine, like the only tech. Cause then I'm again,
- 2:16:41Speaker 3: I get to the end and I'm like, well, I
- 2:16:43Speaker 3: may be glad I watched it just for that because it's,
- 2:16:46Speaker 3: it's back to like that there's with all of those.
- 2:16:49Speaker 3: Cause even like in the, in the in-between times when
- 2:16:52Speaker 3: like every once in a while, he'd come out with
- 2:16:54Speaker 3: a weird movie. Cause that's the same thing with like
- 2:16:56Speaker 3: Zach and Miri. Like most of it's ridiculous bullshit. But
- 2:16:59Speaker 3: then like, there's a few moments where I'm like, Oh no,
- 2:17:01Speaker 3: that's a really heartfelt thing that he wrote. That was
- 2:17:04Speaker 3: like Kevin legitimately saying something. And like, and then a
- 2:17:08Speaker 3: bunch of stupid chickens piled on top of it. When
- 2:17:10Speaker 3: we get to the point of when, again, that was
- 2:17:13Speaker 3: half my thing is like, did he get Affleck to
- 2:17:14Speaker 3: come back? Affleck giving that whole speech about being a
- 2:17:19Speaker 3: parent to tie back to our previous discussion. When he
- 2:17:22Speaker 3: launches into that thing about being a parent, I'm like,
- 2:17:26Speaker 3: holy shit. He's really saying something here. This really is
- 2:17:32Speaker 3: something important that he had to say. And it's the
- 2:17:36Speaker 3: only thing in this entire fucking movie that has any
- 2:17:39Speaker 3: weight to it and has anything. And luckily again, as
- 2:17:42Speaker 3: much shit as he takes Ben Affleck is a good actor.
- 2:17:44Speaker 3: And like, so when he shows up, like he, kind
- 2:17:48Speaker 3: of nails that scene and like you really get that
- 2:17:51Speaker 3: moment of like this is the this is finally what
- 2:17:56Speaker 3: used to be Kevin what in that first movie there
- 2:17:59Speaker 3: were moments that he legitimately had talent and was just
- 2:18:05Speaker 3: writing from the heart and like trying to do something
- 2:18:08Speaker 3: and it could work in silly really ridiculous jokes along
- 2:18:11Speaker 3: the way but it had something at its core and
- 2:18:14Speaker 3: like we lost that along the way in.
- 2:18:17Speaker 5: So many movies well i mean even he talks about
- 2:18:20Speaker 5: it i mean like you know he looks back at
- 2:18:21Speaker 5: movies like what was the jersey girl a cop out
- 2:18:25Speaker 5: what was the other one like everybody bitched about um
- 2:18:31Speaker 5: mostly jersey.
- 2:18:32Speaker 3: Well jersey girl cop out everybody bitched well, I already
- 2:18:35Speaker 3: bitched about Geely and he gets blamed for that because
- 2:18:38Speaker 3: he didn't make that, but it came out at the
- 2:18:41Speaker 3: same time Jersey girl did and it ruined Jersey girl
- 2:18:44Speaker 3: and everything around it basically.
- 2:18:46Speaker 5: And it was also tied to Ben Affleck. So, you know,
- 2:18:49Speaker 5: I'm sure he gets a little bit of blame for that. But, uh,
- 2:18:52Speaker 5: I mean, also when you say about that speech too, uh,
- 2:18:56Speaker 5: about being a father, not only is Kevin Smith, the father,
- 2:18:59Speaker 5: and not only has he had, you know, life changing
- 2:19:01Speaker 5: events that happened since, you know, before even making this movie, uh,
- 2:19:05Speaker 5: but then also Ben Affleck as a father, you know
- 2:19:07Speaker 5: what I mean? And he's had life changing events.
- 2:19:09Speaker 3: And as you saw, did you see at the end
- 2:19:12Speaker 3: of it, the little girl on the floor that he's
- 2:19:14Speaker 3: talking about? Yes. That's Jason Mewes kid.
- 2:19:17Speaker 5: Dude, it's crazy.
- 2:19:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:19:19Speaker 3: Once again, who the hell let Jason, if anybody back
- 2:19:23Speaker 3: to our previous speech doesn't need to be having a kid.
- 2:19:26Speaker 5: Jason Mewes for the love of God. That's another thing though.
- 2:19:29Speaker 5: That's another thing. Who knows? Because, uh, I, I, I've
- 2:19:33Speaker 5: read about a movie that is either, I think it's
- 2:19:36Speaker 5: made and I think it's being shown at film or
- 2:19:38Speaker 5: it was festivals. Like, like I think it might be
- 2:19:43Speaker 5: called something like leading man or whatever, but it's a
- 2:19:47Speaker 5: movie where I want to say Kevin Smith might, I
- 2:19:51Speaker 5: don't even know if he's in it or maybe he
- 2:19:53Speaker 5: is anyway. It's written and directed by and starring Jason Mewes.
- 2:19:58Speaker 5: And it's about him, like wanting to make it as
- 2:20:01Speaker 5: like a legitimate actor or one, or like, I.
- 2:20:04Speaker 3: Think I saw the trailer for it.
- 2:20:05Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 2:20:06Speaker 5: Okay. Okay. And so again, I feel like, because I
- 2:20:10Speaker 5: had also read the Kevin Smith, uh, like, like paid
- 2:20:14Speaker 5: to even help with Jason news teeth. And like, you know,
- 2:20:17Speaker 5: he's helped him get clean and, uh, Well, I mean.
- 2:20:22Speaker 3: No, that's again, back when I was still listening to
- 2:20:24Speaker 3: all the shows, like that's one of the ones that I, when,
- 2:20:27Speaker 3: when they started doing the first Jay and Silent Bob,
- 2:20:31Speaker 3: whatever they called the first few, eventually it was Jay
- 2:20:33Speaker 3: and Silent Bob get old. But like when they started,
- 2:20:36Speaker 3: the only reason they started that show is because Jason
- 2:20:40Speaker 3: Mewes had fallen off the wagon again and was a mess.
- 2:20:43Speaker 3: And like, he'd already done that once and Kevin tried
- 2:20:46Speaker 3: to help him. And he's like, look, man, I'm not
- 2:20:48Speaker 3: doing this again. Like I will help you now, but
- 2:20:50Speaker 3: you can't, we can't keep doing this. Like this is it.
- 2:20:54Speaker 3: You're going to have to be committed. You have to
- 2:20:56Speaker 3: actually get clean and get your shit together. Because again,
- 2:21:00Speaker 3: he was in so much trouble, both medically, chemically, and
- 2:21:05Speaker 3: then financially, like everything was going wrong. And like the
- 2:21:10Speaker 3: reason they did that show was that him meeting up
- 2:21:13Speaker 3: once a week to talk to Kevin. And then eventually
- 2:21:16Speaker 3: it became an actual theater show and he would go
- 2:21:18Speaker 3: and a whole group of people would be there. Like
- 2:21:21Speaker 3: he was accountable once a week, right?
- 2:21:24Speaker 7: Right.
- 2:21:24Speaker 3: Not only show up and do that, but also if
- 2:21:27Speaker 3: he falls off at any point during the week, he's
- 2:21:29Speaker 3: not going to make it there. So every day, he
- 2:21:31Speaker 3: knows he's accountable to be there and to keep his,
- 2:21:34Speaker 3: you know, keep, keep it together and like be able
- 2:21:37Speaker 3: to give him a reason to have a life again.
- 2:21:40Speaker 3: And like, so like, again, there's so many points along
- 2:21:42Speaker 3: the way in this journey that I'm like, I still
- 2:21:45Speaker 3: respect Kevin and I, and I'm, and I'm happy for Jay.
- 2:21:47Speaker 3: Like I, I want to, you know, I want good
- 2:21:51Speaker 3: things for them, but sometimes it's not worth the movies
- 2:21:55Speaker 3: that we get.
- 2:21:56Speaker 5: No, I know. And that, that's the exact thing. That's
- 2:21:58Speaker 5: the whole thing. And it's like, even if I'm not
- 2:22:02Speaker 5: a big fan of what they're doing now, or even
- 2:22:04Speaker 5: if I absolutely detest what they're doing now, there's still
- 2:22:07Speaker 5: a chance. I mean, these are still the same people
- 2:22:10Speaker 5: that gave us classics, so there's still a chance that
- 2:22:12Speaker 5: we have another movie. Dude, and I know as much
- 2:22:18Speaker 5: as you love Mallrats, I had heard that they were
- 2:22:22Speaker 5: shopping around a sequel idea to a few studios, and
- 2:22:26Speaker 5: then it turned into a show, a TV show idea.
- 2:22:29Speaker 1: That's what I heard, yep.
- 2:22:31Speaker 5: And then now I don't even know if anything's happening
- 2:22:33Speaker 5: with that.
- 2:22:33Speaker 3: I think, I think then it fell apart again.
- 2:22:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:22:35Speaker 3: It's like, well, because years and then, yeah.
- 2:22:38Speaker 5: I want to say Stan Lee was a set, like
- 2:22:40Speaker 5: a central piece of the movie or of the script.
- 2:22:44Speaker 3: Probably, which, yeah, that's, that's definitely gonna make it a
- 2:22:48Speaker 3: little more difficult.
- 2:22:50Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:22:50Speaker 5: But I mean, again, I feel like he's still got
- 2:22:53Speaker 5: ideas hopefully. And I feel like hopefully, man, I just
- 2:22:58Speaker 5: could not imagine showing, the Jay and Son of Bob
- 2:23:02Speaker 5: reboot in front of a live theater audience. And then,
- 2:23:05Speaker 5: and then standing there in front of them afterwards going,
- 2:23:08Speaker 5: so what'd you think? Because I would almost feel like
- 2:23:13Speaker 5: there would have to have been correct, like deafening silence
- 2:23:17Speaker 5: for some of the punchlines.
- 2:23:19Speaker 3: That's, that's the part that I find amazing is like,
- 2:23:23Speaker 3: he found this, this fan base that is insane. And like,
- 2:23:28Speaker 3: they just love him. And like, I mean, there's gotta
- 2:23:33Speaker 3: be some sort of jealousy, I guess, that I'm just like,
- 2:23:36Speaker 3: why do they, like, no matter what he does, they
- 2:23:38Speaker 3: keep showing up and they support him. And like, well,
- 2:23:41Speaker 3: I guess I'm bitter about that. But at the same time,
- 2:23:43Speaker 3: I'm like, I also don't see why. I don't feel
- 2:23:45Speaker 3: like what he's doing sometimes, if not a lot of
- 2:23:48Speaker 3: the time, deserves this sort of devotion. But like, they just,
- 2:23:53Speaker 3: he has such a fan base.
- 2:23:55Speaker 5: That will not quit. but look at some of the
- 2:23:58Speaker 5: radio personalities, you know, like, I mean, somebody that is
- 2:24:02Speaker 5: legitimately revolting, like somebody that is hated by a lot
- 2:24:07Speaker 5: of the country can, can be a radio host and
- 2:24:10Speaker 5: then show up to a city and pack that place out,
- 2:24:13Speaker 5: you know, because not only are they, well, they're, you know, what,
- 2:24:18Speaker 5: what polarizing, but they're also like, like they, they engage
- 2:24:22Speaker 5: with their audience a lot. I feel like Kevin Smith
- 2:24:24Speaker 5: is one of those people who, who he makes, he
- 2:24:27Speaker 5: makes his fans feel like, like they matter, you know,
- 2:24:30Speaker 5: when he's around them. And he's also constantly, constantly talk. Like,
- 2:24:35Speaker 5: I don't feel like there's any aspect of his life
- 2:24:37Speaker 5: that he doesn't put out there.
- 2:24:40Speaker 12: When you do like five shows a week, I feel
- 2:24:45Speaker 12: like it's like, it's like even an even more personal
- 2:24:48Speaker 12: Howard Stern type of thing, you know, where, where he's
- 2:24:52Speaker 12: constantly constantly letting everybody in on everything but then he's
- 2:24:55Speaker 12: also making content that are that are one and a
- 2:24:58Speaker 12: half hour digestible you know uh pieces of entertainment or
- 2:25:03Speaker 12: whatever they are you know and then he he gets
- 2:25:05Speaker 12: to constantly just do different things i mean he's got
- 2:25:07Speaker 12: he had last year alone he had that movie come
- 2:25:09Speaker 12: out but he also had like his own marijuana.
- 2:25:12Speaker 5: Strains to go with the movie he had you know
- 2:25:15Speaker 5: like he had a whole burst of new new stardom
- 2:25:17Speaker 5: too with like his vegan things and all of his
- 2:25:20Speaker 5: posts on Instagram that, that are aimed at that kind
- 2:25:23Speaker 5: of thing. And I don't know, I just feel like
- 2:25:27Speaker 5: he's got a rabid fan base for sure. And I
- 2:25:29Speaker 5: feel like it's because he's made himself so approachable and
- 2:25:32Speaker 5: so open, like so many people probably identify with him,
- 2:25:37Speaker 5: you know? Yeah.
- 2:25:38Speaker 3: I mean, again, that's how, that's how I got on there.
- 2:25:41Speaker 3: Like that's, that's how I fell into it myself. I just, yeah,
- 2:25:45Speaker 3: I just want, I don't know. I want him to
- 2:25:47Speaker 3: do more and better. But, again, that's my opinion, and
- 2:25:52Speaker 3: nobody gives a shit. So, like, the fans seem to
- 2:25:55Speaker 3: still like it. So, I don't know.
- 2:25:58Speaker 5: I know a lot of people that say the same thing. Oh, no,
- 2:26:00Speaker 5: he hasn't done anything good in forever. So, I feel
- 2:26:02Speaker 5: like if he does something really good, dude, Red State,
- 2:26:05Speaker 5: a lot of people, man, whenever if they hadn't heard
- 2:26:09Speaker 5: of it and if they've been like, huh, you know,
- 2:26:11Speaker 5: and I tell them a little bit about it, there
- 2:26:13Speaker 5: have been several people that have been like, holy shit, dude,
- 2:26:16Speaker 5: I just watched that Red Stay movie and man, that
- 2:26:18Speaker 5: was awesome. You know? And it's just one of those
- 2:26:20Speaker 5: things where it's like, yeah, I know it came out
- 2:26:23Speaker 5: of nowhere and it was something that I don't think anybody.
- 2:26:27Speaker 3: No, that's, that's one of those moments that like, I, I,
- 2:26:30Speaker 3: he was back and I had so much hope that like,
- 2:26:32Speaker 3: that's where he was going and he was going to
- 2:26:34Speaker 3: keep doing that stuff. And it just took another weird
- 2:26:37Speaker 3: turn after that.
- 2:26:38Speaker 5: So, I mean, I know he said he's got another
- 2:26:40Speaker 5: horror movie in him and he's got, you know.
- 2:26:43Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 2:26:44Speaker 5: Hopefully he's got some material because yeah, if I feel
- 2:26:47Speaker 5: like if it's Jay and Bob related, it's going to
- 2:26:49Speaker 5: just be trash and it's going to be self, you know, grand.
- 2:26:54Speaker 5: I don't know. I can't, I can't handle it.
- 2:26:56Speaker 3: It's just retreading the same stuff over and over. And again,
- 2:26:59Speaker 3: like you said, not even making jokes, just a reference
- 2:27:02Speaker 3: to a thing we already did, you know?
- 2:27:04Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:27:04Speaker 5: And it's like, Hey, remember that one joke that was
- 2:27:06Speaker 5: funny that one time you heard it 30 years ago. Yeah. Like, well,
- 2:27:10Speaker 5: guess what? And then we're going to look at the
- 2:27:11Speaker 5: camera and acknowledge that we just made a reference to.
- 2:27:14Speaker 1: Yep.
- 2:27:15Speaker 3: Like a little hammy. Well, on that tangent, I guess
- 2:27:25Speaker 3: we round things out here. So do you do you
- 2:27:32Speaker 3: have any words to pass on to people? Stay safe and.
- 2:27:36Speaker 3: Try not to eat your neighbors or anything.
- 2:27:39Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:27:39Speaker 5: Like fucking stay indoors, man. Stream some horror movies, stream
- 2:27:43Speaker 5: some comedy movies, just stream some entertainment, play some games
- 2:27:47Speaker 5: like FaceTime, chit chat with people and just stay indoors, man.
- 2:27:54Speaker 5: Like as much as you can. I mean, some of
- 2:27:56Speaker 5: us have to go to work. Some of us, you know,
- 2:27:58Speaker 5: we still have to go grocery shopping. We still have to,
- 2:28:15Speaker 5: .
- 2:28:16Speaker 3: .
- 2:28:27Speaker 5: I'm about to like Jean-Claude Van Damme blood sport, super
- 2:28:31Speaker 5: kick your ass right into this bread section.
- 2:28:35Speaker 3: I mean, like I'm about to Steven Seagal kick you
- 2:28:37Speaker 3: right in the knee, lower shin says high as I
- 2:28:41Speaker 3: can get it.
- 2:28:44Speaker 5: And then sweaty and out of breath.
- 2:28:47Speaker 3: Well, yeah, that's bound and bloated and purple.
- 2:28:49Speaker 5: Oh, I'm sorry. Well, I can't, I can't wait to
- 2:28:54Speaker 5: watch this Steven Seagal, uh, This new vampire flick.
- 2:29:01Speaker 3: New 15 years ago.
- 2:29:03Speaker 5: Oh, I thought you were saying it was like another
- 2:29:05Speaker 5: recent one.
- 2:29:06Speaker 3: No, no. Well, I mean, that's the thing. He's been
- 2:29:09Speaker 3: old and out of shape and way too big to
- 2:29:11Speaker 3: do stuff for at least 15 years now.
- 2:29:13Speaker 5: True, true.
- 2:29:14Speaker 3: Very true. I mean, it really had to have been
- 2:29:18Speaker 3: 10 or 11 years ago when we watched him on
- 2:29:19Speaker 3: the show. I'm like, no joke.
- 2:29:22Speaker 6: So that's... Yeah.
- 2:29:25Speaker 5: So it should definitely be on something like Tubi then. Probably.
- 2:29:29Speaker 3: If you can't find it, I'm pretty sure I've got
- 2:29:32Speaker 3: a copy of it just to do that episode. So
- 2:29:35Speaker 3: I can loan it to you if you don't find it.
- 2:29:38Speaker 6: Yeah, man.
- 2:29:40Speaker 5: I'm sure I'll be able to find this. I'll be
- 2:29:43Speaker 5: Googling it.
- 2:29:43Speaker 3: It's probably free on YouTube right now because nobody would
- 2:29:47Speaker 3: bother suing anyone over it.
- 2:29:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:29:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:29:50Speaker 5: He's probably the one that uploaded it.
- 2:29:53Speaker 3: Probably. Oh, so go watch that. If you have a
- 2:29:59Speaker 3: strong will and a strong stomach.
- 2:30:01Speaker 5: So yeah, man, against the dark, I'm definitely going to,
- 2:30:06Speaker 5: I guess we will leave you with that.
- 2:30:08Speaker 3: So thanks for coming on this journey. You and everyone
- 2:30:12Speaker 3: out there listening.
- 2:30:14Speaker 5: Hey, thanks for having me. And you know, If you
- 2:30:17Speaker 5: feel like talking about crappy movies and has-been directors or
- 2:30:22Speaker 5: whatever we want to do, hit me up, man.
- 2:30:26Speaker 3: Definitely. Maybe like this again. I'm hoping. I was already
- 2:30:31Speaker 3: planning on sitting down with you again in the near future,
- 2:30:34Speaker 3: and then this happened. So maybe somewhere down the line
- 2:30:38Speaker 3: we can actually be in the same room. We'll still
- 2:30:40Speaker 3: keep it about six feet if we can, but it'd
- 2:30:43Speaker 3: be nice if we could be in the same room.
- 2:30:45Speaker 5: Yeah, and actually, I feel like we were six feet.
- 2:30:48Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 2:30:49Speaker 5: Because that table, is it lengthy?
- 2:30:50Speaker 3: I've got a good, again, in the compound here, I've
- 2:30:53Speaker 3: got a decent sized table. So yeah, I think we
- 2:30:55Speaker 3: were safe last time.
- 2:30:56Speaker 5: So we can do that.
- 2:30:59Speaker 3: Assuming we all survive, we can do that again. So,
- 2:31:01Speaker 3: you know.
- 2:31:02Speaker 8: Nice.
- 2:31:04Speaker 7: Well, awesome, man.
- 2:31:04Speaker 5: Thanks again.
- 2:31:05Speaker 3: All right. Thank you. And thanks to everyone out there. Otherwise,
- 2:31:09Speaker 3: that about does it. We will return next time. Same
- 2:31:11Speaker 3: geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 2:31:26Speaker 7: I'm so far from you It's a taboo song.
- 2:31:53Speaker 3: It's a taboo song I am.

- 2:32:20Speaker 9: my head.
- 2:32:25Speaker 6: .
- 2:32:38Speaker 4: .
- 2:32:43Speaker 6: .
- 2:32:50Speaker 4: Bye.
- 2:32:53Speaker 5: Bye.
- 2:33:24Speaker 6: Take the sex back, my friend It's like death in
- 2:33:30Speaker 6: the end I'm so close to you Will I make
- 2:33:35Speaker 6: it in bed? I'm dressed up to be dead It's
- 2:33:52Speaker 6: a taboo song I am learning.
- 2:34:06Speaker 7: To die It's a stranger's reply I'm so close to
- 2:34:12Speaker 7: you All the things that you said Are like ghosts
- 2:34:19Speaker 7: in my head.
- 2:34:22Speaker 9: This is a taboo song. It's a taboo song.
- 2:36:19Speaker 5: And either way, yeah, now it's just like, holy crap,
- 2:36:21Speaker 5: this cat is a genius.
