Transcript
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Daily Writer, where we share a lesson each day to help you cultivate the habits for creative success.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Most of us live in the present moment.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: We focus on the things that we're doing today, next week, or perhaps later this year.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: But that's about as far as it goes.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Just for a moment though, set aside your distractions and think about the year 2026.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: It's five years into the future.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: You'll be five years older by then.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: How do you want your life to be different?
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: What goals do you want to have achieved?
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: What does your world look like in five years?
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Well, we all want to be more successful, of course, but how do we do that?
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: The author and motivational speaker Charlie Tremendous Jones famously said, you will be the same person in five years as you are today, except for the people you meet and the books you read.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: We've already talked a lot on this podcast about the importance of reading for your success, but Charlie Jones mentions a second key element, which is people.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: People are vital to our success because they give us opportunities.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: They connect us with other people.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: They buy, read, and share our work.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Without other people, we have no chance at all of success.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: So how do we connect with other writers, entrepreneurs, and leaders who can help us?
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Well, here are three simple ideas.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Number one, get active in social media groups where writers hang out.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Then add value in those groups by answering questions and just being helpful.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Number two, leave reviews for other people's books and podcasts, then post those reviews on social media.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Make sure and tag the author.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Number three, pay to be a part of a community or a mastermind.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: When you pay for something, it shows you're serious about growth.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Connecting with other successful people is not really that difficult.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: It just takes a little bit of effort.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Choose one of these strategies and put it into practice within the next 24 hours.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: And I'll bet that within a week or two, you'll begin to see some connections start to take shape.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: And over time, that five-year vision will start to become a reality.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: If you want to begin to make your vision a reality and begin spending more time around successful people, one of the best ways to do that is by checking out our daily writer community.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: For years, I searched for the kind of writing community I would want to join, and I could never find what I wanted, so I created one.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Some of the features of our DW community include weekly writing sprints, monthly community calls, help from writing mentors, calls with guest experts, many courses to help you be productive and successful, and much more.

- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Thanks, and I'll see you tomorrow.
