- 0:10Make your dream a reality of getting into flight.
- 0:12Listen in as you hear some of the stories of the people
- 0:14getting there and come join the flight prep group.
- 0:17Hey you guys, welcome to this episode of Frontline Static 138,
- 0:22Finding Joy in the Challenge. I am talking with you on the
- 0:27very last day of the year. It is December 31st.
- 0:31I know you guys will get this on the very first day of January
- 0:341st, 2026, but I've spent a lot of time reflecting in this last
- 0:40week and a half. I'm taking two weeks off of
- 0:42coaching. I've literally never done this
- 0:45before in the 15 years that I've been a nurse.
- 0:48I always worked holidays and continue to, you know, work as
- 0:53all of you guys are during this time.
- 0:56But I really wanted to create some space to be with my family
- 1:01and really just enjoy the magical experience of having my
- 1:07twins who are seniors home for the last Christmas before they
- 1:12move out. And so I've been, I want to
- 1:16share with you something that I have been personally working on
- 1:19and that I've spent a lot of time thinking about how and
- 1:25reflecting how I've taken myself through this process of finding
- 1:29joy in the challenge. In the last about I would say
- 1:33six months, maybe even a little bit more.
- 1:36I've been really coaching with my mindset, personal one-on-one
- 1:41coach about creating desire of what I really want.
- 1:45In the last six months, I've spent time really asking myself,
- 1:49what is it that I really desire? What is it that I want to
- 1:54contribute in this world? What is it that I want to say
- 1:59and impact in my coaching business?
- 2:02And for weeks I would come to my calls with her and I would just
- 2:07be like, I wish I had an answer. Like I don't know what it is.
- 2:11And she just allowed really for me to have the space to, instead
- 2:17of making a quick decision on it, just really allow myself to
- 2:21super think and create space for what I really do truly desire to
- 2:32coach on inside my coaching business.
- 2:35Now running it for the last four years.
- 2:37I really wanted to take time to reassess where am I going in the
- 2:42next five years? And this is really just been
- 2:46because I've blasted through my goals.
- 2:49I created a five year goal for my coaching plan for my coaching
- 2:53business and I hit that this year, a year early.
- 2:58And so I think that this is just a reflection of where do I want
- 3:02to be in the next 5 years? Who do I want to impact?
- 3:06What is it that I want to teach? What is the voice and the
- 3:10lessons and the tools that I want to bring to you guys?
- 3:14And so the last six months of really asking myself that and
- 3:19pondering it and leaving it in uncertainty and unknown, I
- 3:23finally come to an answer. And I am not ready to completely
- 3:31share with you my new offer, but it is coming.
- 3:34And I do want to let you know I am continuing the Flight Prep
- 3:38Academy. That is something I deeply
- 3:40desire to do to help more nurses and medics get into this
- 3:44industry. I loved, loved, loved every part
- 3:47of being a flight nurse. It was the best job ever.
- 3:51And I want to help more people who want to create that goal for
- 3:54themselves get there in a shorter amount of time with more
- 3:59clarity, more ease, less overwhelm, and a community and
- 4:02support. So I'm going to take you through
- 4:06kind of my process of how I found joy in the challenge and
- 4:14how you can start to find joy in the challenge of the goals that
- 4:17you're creating for 2026. I spent 2 days ago mapping out
- 4:22my entire next year. And that's not something that
- 4:25I've typically done in my business, but I know where I'm
- 4:29going this next year with more clarity and ease than ever
- 4:32before. And so I spent probably maybe
- 4:36two or three hours really thinking about what are some of
- 4:42the webinars trainings that I'm going to bring you.
- 4:44I mapped it out for the next 12 months and really what that's
- 4:47going to look like. And so I want to kind of take
- 4:51you through as I have discovered after six months of pondering
- 4:55really what I desire, how I got to that and how I found joy in
- 4:59the challenge and in the goal. So I want to start out before I
- 5:04go take you through these steps for really just expressing my
- 5:08gratitude. I am so grateful for all of you
- 5:14guys. This was an idea that I
- 5:21pondered, put a lot of love into when I decided to leave nursing
- 5:28and flight nursing and go all in on my coaching business.
- 5:33And I knew what I wanted to create.
- 5:35I knew how I wanted to impact people, but I just had to
- 5:41believe that there were people that wanted to come along.
- 5:44There are people that wanted to join my communities and utilize
- 5:50me as their coach. And I just wanted to take a
- 5:53moment before getting started this week to express my
- 5:56gratitude to all of you for coming along with me in this
- 6:01journey, for entrusting me to be your coach.
- 6:05Even if you aren't working with me as a client.
- 6:08Just listening to this episode, I hope like my, my goal is that
- 6:17you guys feel better. I know the work that you do is
- 6:22hard. I've been there.
- 6:23I've been in the trenches with you.
- 6:26And my goal in when I found these coaching tools is that I
- 6:31can give you guys a sense of feeling better, of confidence,
- 6:34of willingness to chase after your big audacious goals and to
- 6:43not get rid of the fear, but to learn how to bring it with you.
- 6:45And so as I now have over 100 people inside of the Flight Prep
- 6:51Academy, I've helped dozens of people get hired into Flight
- 6:55Now. I created a new offer for
- 6:59healthcare workers and 1st responders for general life
- 7:01coaching. I have a small group with 20
- 7:03people in it. I've helped over 100 clients and
- 7:07people one-on-one. I just want to express gratitude
- 7:11for you going on this journey with me for entrusting me to be
- 7:14your coach. And I just want you to know I
- 7:18have so much more to give this year.
- 7:21And I just wanted to start this episode in complete just
- 7:25thankfulness and gratitude for being here with me.
- 7:29And I want you to know that I'm thinking about you guys often.
- 7:34I am thinking about how do I help you feel better quicker?
- 7:38How do I put everything into processes and steps as I'm going
- 7:44through them so that I can share them with you?
- 7:46I have expressed that the last two years have been a struggle
- 7:51for me and I've really had some really deep emotions that I've
- 7:55never ever felt before in my life to this extent.
- 8:01Sadness, anxiety, depression, shame.
- 8:06And I'm as I'm coming out of it, as I'm like really stepping into
- 8:10the next version of me. I want you guys to know I got
- 8:14you because I've felt these feelings, I've allowed them.
- 8:18And so I want you to know these podcast episodes are for you.
- 8:23And again, I want you to be thinking about me and you just
- 8:27having a conversation across the table.
- 8:30Maybe we got a drink together or we're just having lunch or
- 8:35dinner together. And I really hope that you find
- 8:40some of these general life coaching topics.
- 8:41And I'm going to be talking about flight topics too.
- 8:44I'm helpful for you, but I just want to express gratitude and
- 8:48thankfulness for you coming along with me.
- 8:51OK, today we're going to find, we're going to talk about
- 8:53finding joy in the challenge. I'm going to talk to you about
- 8:55the steps that I took myself to create some desire for this and
- 9:00how I got through it. So I'm going to take you through
- 9:03four steps. The first one is we have to
- 9:06create a desire for what we want or our goal.
- 9:10That means we have to give our self time to super think.
- 9:13I know I've talked about this on previous episodes and my
- 9:18business coach talks about this a lot.
- 9:20Just really giving yourself time to quiet the noise without your
- 9:24phone, without the TV, without your kids, just like in a quiet
- 9:29place to really super think. I like to go into nature.
- 9:32I like to go for a walk. Like those are things where I
- 9:34can really get clarity, feel alone, and really take some time
- 9:39to ask myself, what is it that I desire?
- 9:42Not what my family wants for me, Not what my kids or my husband
- 9:45or my parents. What do I want?
- 9:52What do I want now? What I want in the next 5 years?
- 9:54What are some goals that I want to create?
- 9:56What do I truly desire to do with my life to impact?
- 10:01Really take the time to ask yourself that without the pre
- 10:06notions of like what everybody else wants for you.
- 10:08I don't even know if that's a word, but I just came up with
- 10:10that right now. I don't think that if I was
- 10:15really honest with myself, I've spent a lot of time asking
- 10:20myself what I want. I really have just done
- 10:24sometimes a hard thing because I'm like, oh, that's what so and
- 10:27so wants for me. Or that's what is the next thing
- 10:31that life tells me I need to be doing.
- 10:34But this is really like asking yourself, what do I want now?
- 10:37What do I want in the next 5 years?
- 10:39What do I want to create in 10 years?
- 10:41What'll, what's the stamp that I want to leave and the legacy
- 10:44that I want to leave for my children in this world?
- 10:48What's the impact? And I really allowed myself to
- 10:54let that question remain open for the last six months until it
- 10:59really came to me. And then when it hit me, it just
- 11:01hit me like so hard. I knew what it was.
- 11:07And I really believe that you can't wait to feel it.
- 11:12You have to go out there and start to cultivate that desire,
- 11:16Cultivate and ask yourself those hard questions, tapping really
- 11:20into, if this isn't something that happens to me, what do I
- 11:25want to create? And you have to go out there and
- 11:28get it and ask yourself that. So I think it starts with that,
- 11:32creating the desire of what you want, super thinking and really
- 11:35listening, giving yourself time and space to find out what that
- 11:38is. OK #2 this is actually really
- 11:44difficult for me, but I have been really practicing this as
- 11:48I've been asking myself, what do I desire in the last six months?
- 11:51Number 2 is creating gratitude and feeling proud of yourself.
- 11:59This is hard for me. This is a challenge because if
- 12:03you're a goal setter like me, which you are, if you're
- 12:05listening to this podcast and you're a doer and you have
- 12:09always found that doing a bunch of things is what creates
- 12:12success for you, that feeling proud is hard.
- 12:17Realizing that it can be simple and slowing down and taking the
- 12:21actions that will actually move you forward instead of taking a
- 12:24bunch. That's hard.
- 12:26And so learning to stop, create gratitude and feel proud for
- 12:31where you have come, where you were a year ago, where you were
- 12:35two years ago, where you were 10 years ago, and how far you have
- 12:38come and what you have accomplished is hard to take
- 12:41time to do. But we have to do this because
- 12:43if we don't close the loop of feeling proud and close the loop
- 12:47of the accomplishments, then we just say going to the next thing
- 12:50and we chase the next thing and we chase the next opening hit.
- 12:54Feeling proud closes the loop for us.
- 12:57Having gratitude helps us really set into what do we desire next.
- 13:03And so I really took time in these last after I what really
- 13:09hit me, what I really want to do, I just took time to really
- 13:14just feel proud of where I've come, who's come with me,
- 13:21grateful for for all all of you guys and just really dig deep
- 13:28into what are you proud of? And I want to offer that
- 13:34sometimes in this process of goal setting, we can indulge in
- 13:44trying to feel like this is what happened to me in the last six
- 13:47months. Like really leading up to it is
- 13:49I was indulging and why don't feel desire.
- 13:52I have to feel desire before I start taking action.
- 13:55And I just had to keep telling myself, I'm going to keep taking
- 13:58action until I figure out the desire.
- 14:02So you don't want to wait to feel it before you start taking
- 14:05action. You want to become the person
- 14:07who just keeps taking the action.
- 14:09And then with the action, you'll gain the momentum.
- 14:12And in the momentum, you'll find the desire.
- 14:13So I want to to also offer you that.
- 14:17I want to ask you the questions. What decisions am I keeping
- 14:20myself from making because I'm indulging to try to feel desire
- 14:24or feel motivated? What decisions am I keeping
- 14:28myself from making because I keep beating myself up?
- 14:32What decisions am I keeping myself from making because I
- 14:36have fear of what others will think of me or that I will fail?
- 14:40These are the three things that I struggle with the most.
- 14:43Dropping into gratitude, beating myself up and fear of what other
- 14:48people will think of me and seeing them, seeing, seeing,
- 14:52watching myself fail in front of them.
- 14:55And I think these are common things that we all face.
- 14:57But what I have really, really taught myself to do in this
- 15:01process, in challenging myself is taking action.
- 15:07Even though I have those thoughts and you do not want to
- 15:10indulge in beating yourself up, having fear or waiting to feel
- 15:14desire motivated, you want to start taking the action anyway.
- 15:18So that's number two. Feel gratitude, feel proud of
- 15:21yourself. That will help you take the
- 15:23action #3 We want to create a plan.
- 15:28We want to tell her. We want to stop telling
- 15:30ourselves, I don't know. And we want to start telling
- 15:33ourselves, I have a plan. I hope that you have a plan for
- 15:362026. I hope that you can.
- 15:41This is a thing we can't prevent ourselves from saying, I don't
- 15:43know it. It's natural for our brain to
- 15:46tell us that. But what if you're coaching with
- 15:48me in any of my programs? I just don't allow that answer.
- 15:50I say, well, if you didn't know, then what If you didn't know?
- 15:52What would be the first step? What's the first step that
- 15:54you're going to take? So we have to start telling
- 15:57ourselves I have a plan versus I don't know.
- 16:01I thought I want to offer you that.
- 16:02We came up in the shift coaching group for healthcare workers and
- 16:061st responders. And the last one that we had was
- 16:09let's try it. And I have a plan and that
- 16:13thought will propel you forward. We just don't want to take time
- 16:17to indulge. And I don't know anymore.
- 16:19An example that I gave them and I wanted to give you guys is
- 16:22this is like one of my husband's favorite movies is Ford versus
- 16:25Ferrari. And there's a part of it that I
- 16:28just will never forget. He is talking to his son about
- 16:32going around the track, and he's talking to his son about doing
- 16:36this race that's 24 hours long. I can't remember the name of it,
- 16:40but his son says, Dad, how do you plan ahead when you're going
- 16:47that fast for all the laps that you have to complete and do in
- 16:5124 hours? And he says that when he gets in
- 16:55the car and when he starts moving and going really, really
- 16:58fast, that for normal people, things move faster.
- 17:04And it's like binoculars and a lens.
- 17:07Like this is what I'm paraphrasing in my head.
- 17:10But what I'm thinking as he's telling his son this is that
- 17:14it's like binoculars and most people, as they're going faster,
- 17:19things speed up and they're narrowing in on the track.
- 17:24But he says for him that when he has a long race or the faster he
- 17:30goes, time actually slows down for him.
- 17:32He actually scrolls out with those binoculars and sees the
- 17:37bigger picture. He sees the whole race from
- 17:40start to finish in that moment. He sees how many times he's
- 17:43glided through the track and how he's accomplished it and how he
- 17:46has done it. And this is similar.
- 17:49I remember that for one reason is this is similar to what
- 17:52happened to me when I would land at sinkholes and there was mass
- 17:57chaos. And maybe there were multiple
- 17:59bodies and multiple crashes and multiple things going on.
- 18:02And there was fights between family going on here.
- 18:04And then you had police here, and then you had fire
- 18:06extricating someone. And for me, the more chaotic a
- 18:11scene, the slower I slowed down in my mind.
- 18:15I saw the bigger picture. I focused in on what patient I
- 18:18was going to take in that very moment and from start to finish
- 18:23of my entire call, grabbing that patient and taking them to the
- 18:26level 1 trauma center. And I did that all in like
- 18:30seconds. And the reason why I was able to
- 18:35do this is because I always told myself I don't need to know the
- 18:38how. I just need to have a plan.
- 18:41And there is a part of me still that had a lot of fear.
- 18:44And there is a part of me that was like, I don't know.
- 18:46But I had to not indulge in spending time with that part.
- 18:50I had to keep telling myself, this is it.
- 18:53This is the plan. We're going to follow through
- 18:56and trust myself that I could do that.
- 18:58So when we have that thought, I have a plan.
- 19:02The actions will lead us down that way.
- 19:05We'll take the first one and then we'll know what to do for
- 19:08the second one and so on and so forth.
- 19:10When we continue with the thought, I don't know, you
- 19:13continue to spin vegan confusion, be stuck being
- 19:18overwhelmed. And I know you guys know this
- 19:20feeling because the more you tell yourself you don't know,
- 19:23the more you don't know. And so I think it's really
- 19:25important to create a plan and then have a thought that's going
- 19:28to propel you forward in that plan, which is like, I have a
- 19:31plan, let's try it. I have a plan, let's move
- 19:33forward with it. And so I just want to offer you
- 19:37guys that thought. I also am a big believer in
- 19:41exposing yourself to your worst fear.
- 19:43So oftentimes clients come to me and they're like, I'm just
- 19:45afraid that my my patients going to code and I'm like, OK, let's
- 19:48do it. Let's walk ourselves through it.
- 19:50You got your critical patient, high acuity, they code.
- 19:53Now what do you do? And we take them through
- 19:56verbally every action that they're going to take.
- 19:58This is how I help people get ready for case scenarios and
- 20:01verbal case scenarios for flight companies or they're testing
- 20:03once they're already a flight nurse or flight medic.
- 20:05Let's go to your worst case scenario.
- 20:07Take me through what's going to happen, get to that code, bring
- 20:11it, do it. And the only reason why I've
- 20:14allowed myself to do that is because even though I've had
- 20:17fear about it, I take myself to the worst case scenario.
- 20:19I tell myself I have a plan and I walk myself through it.
- 20:23So that's number three is creating a plan and telling
- 20:26yourself you have one. The most important part is when
- 20:30your brain is going to push up against, I don't know, and then
- 20:32it has a lot of fear. You have to tell yourself that I
- 20:36have a plan and let's, let's try it.
- 20:38Let's do it. OK, this is the last one.
- 20:41And this kind of wraps up what I want to talk to you guys about
- 20:43on this podcast #4 finding joy in the challenge.
- 20:49You guys, you got to find some joy in challenging yourself and
- 20:55getting to the next level and leveling up and doing something
- 20:58that no one's done before. If flight was so easy, everybody
- 21:03would do it at three years. But it's not.
- 21:06It's for the people who find the joy in the challenge.
- 21:10Because here's the thing, once you get hired in the flight,
- 21:12it's not like, oh, OK, successful.
- 21:14No, it's testing after testing after testing and continuing to
- 21:18challenge yourself. You're asked to be superhuman.
- 21:22You're asked to have the autonomy and make quick
- 21:26decisions and think critically, not just for your team, but for
- 21:29your patient. And that's why it matters.
- 21:31You have to find joy in the challenges.
- 21:34You have to find joy in the goals.
- 21:36One thing that I think about a lot, I love to go on hikes.
- 21:38I love to be in nature and there was this one hike that I did
- 21:43with my family. And I know I've talked about
- 21:44this on my podcast before, but this is what I'm thinking about
- 21:46and finding the joy in the challenge where my husband's
- 21:49like, this is just going to take a half a day to get to that
- 21:51peak. And I said it's not.
- 21:53And I only brought snacks. I didn't bring enough things.
- 21:56You know, it took us over 12/13/14 hours to get to the
- 22:00top, but I had to find joy in getting there.
- 22:06And I remember every step of the way thinking, Oh my gosh, like
- 22:09this is fun. OK, what's on the other switch
- 22:11back of this? What happens when we go up
- 22:12there? And just really telling myself
- 22:15like, OK, this is so fun to be with my family, to be with my
- 22:19kids, to challenge myself. You have to be able to say I'm
- 22:25the person who loves this. I'm the person who loves every
- 22:30minute of challenging myself to to grow into the next version of
- 22:36me. Two thoughts that have really
- 22:39helped me in challenging situations and when I set big
- 22:42goal for goals for myself to find the joy in.
- 22:44It is this is my sequence of events that led me to success.
- 22:49It doesn't mean that I got everything right the first time,
- 22:52the second time, the third time, the 4th time, the fifth time.
- 22:54Guys, it took me 8 times to pass my CFRN, 3 times to pass my
- 22:58CCRN. That thought is this is my
- 23:02sequence of events that leads me to its success.
- 23:05The seven times I had to not pass it led me to the 8th time
- 23:08of passing it. I had to keep being willing to
- 23:11evaluate and get back up and do it again.
- 23:14And so that thought is really powerful for me.
- 23:17This is my sequence of events that leads me to to success.
- 23:19Pass or fail, whatever it is, I'm going to get back up.
- 23:23The other thought that I have is this is the plan.
- 23:27This is exactly what is supposed to be happening.
- 23:31This is the plan. And I just want to invite all of
- 23:34you guys find joy in becoming who you, who you are becoming,
- 23:38who challenges yourself, who gets to that goal because it
- 23:41feels good to get to that goal, but it really, really is about
- 23:44the person you become while getting there.
- 23:46So find some joy in it. And the last thing that I want
- 23:49to offer you in finding the joy in the challenge and creating
- 23:52desire for your goals and what you want in your life is the
- 23:55importance of community and support.
- 23:57This is what I'm creating in my programs this year.
- 24:00Don't do it alone. Come and join us.
- 24:03There's other people who feel the exact same way as you who
- 24:08are challenged right now with beating themselves up and we're
- 24:11going to help you get unstuck and out of overwhelm and create
- 24:14confidence and feel better in the jobs that you're doing and
- 24:19the next version that you want to level up to community support
- 24:22is everything. I've set myself up for community
- 24:24and support this year because I am taking myself more seriously
- 24:28this year than I ever have. I'm drowning out my own personal
- 24:32doubt and the doubt of others, and I'm allowing myself to go
- 24:36out all out and play big, not without fear.
- 24:40I'm going to have fear, but I just have this deep desire to
- 24:44input impact more healthcare workers and 1st responders, you
- 24:46guys in general, to stretch myself to greater legs and to
- 24:51put myself out there more, to fail more to to get back up and
- 24:58to seeking feeling better. If you guys want that, if you
- 25:01want community support, feeling better, growing your confidence,
- 25:05stepping into the next version of yourself, creating really big
- 25:08things. Come with me this year because I
- 25:11am going to be doing things I've never done before and I want you
- 25:15guys to join in on that and I can and will support you as your
- 25:19coach. I have a new offer coming, it's
- 25:21in March. Stay tuned.
- 25:23I'm going to be telling about telling it about you guys for
- 25:27you guys shortly and join my e-mail list to find out more
- 25:31what it's about. You'll be the first to know and
- 25:33if flight's your goal, finally start taking action towards
- 25:37that. You guys, if anything, do not
- 25:39wait till the three years. We don't wait three years to
- 25:42marry someone. You got to speed date the whole

- 25:52school. I have pre nursing students and

- 25:57alongs and base visits right now and they're having the time of
- 25:59their lives. Come join us inside the Flight
